I'm back. I have more things to say. Put down a chair and pick up a drink. This one is MEAN.
A friend and I were talking about Veilguard Housewives, as we have dubbed it in iMessage, and how hm, this seems like shifting the blame onto someone who rightfully deserves blame - but by the end of it, no one who helped birth this new faith is around, so you can't scapegoat the elves, it's impossible as the shift of the world puts the power in the hands of the humans and firmly there for ages, ages, ages.
Here's the thing with religion: the beginning is important, sure, but it's also the steps that follow that matter.
Let me talk about some dirty old popes really quickly. The Catholic Church, for the last seventy years, has had issues. Still, it goes further than that - they terrorised people, converted people by force, killed people of colour, Muslims, Jews, Hellenites, and any other small faith like the greek gods and home religion - the elves - I'll come back to this - and was snuffed out by something based on a book he didn't even write. So time goes on, and the catholic faith has spread through Europe - we are now a colonising tool.
The Chantry follows these footsteps and POUNDS them into the sand. I can make the chantry go tool for tool with the holy see by saying some insane shit like - one of the divines had a smut ring, and I could be right because the POPES HAD THEIR CHILDREN IN PLACES OF POWER. My big blue eyes are looking right at Thedas.
oh, but this is you shitting on Catholics; they have my menorah; when I have my big fucking menorah back, I will stop shitting in their yard.
Sure, datv does drop a bomb about the modern chantry as of 9:51, but it doesn’t UNDO anything, and we are still looking at systemic imbalances. Things done in the dark still have a great imbalance in the world. Considering we keep it to ourselves, let those who wander not suffer the keen sting of being wrong due to no fault of their own.
