I LOVE how you write the lads guys!!! May I please request taking advantage (in a kind way, of course) of zayne’s medical expertise and asking him silly medical questions? Just like really random stuff! lounging around with him at home or being out and about while asking those questions would be so funny and I’m sure he would kind of like it lol

✴︎ Dating a doctor meant that you officially had a walking medical encyclopedia for a boyfriend and you had no shame in utilizing his knowledge. Thankfully for you, Zayne was always happy to deliver whenever you asked him all kinds of questions.

✴︎ I feel like when you start getting comfortable enough to ask him, it’s really simple things. Like it’s questions about your personal health at first. You’ve definitely asked him something like; “Babe, how do I make my headaches go away faster?” and “What do you think are the best vitamins I should take so I don’t have to keep taking gross ones that aren’t doing anything?”

✴︎ Not only does Zayne answer your questions, but he gives you some deeper insight so that you have your own knowledge about things. And you like learning from him—especially because of the way he looks at you as you stay hooked onto his every word.

✴︎ He loves the little text messages you send him. You ask him something almost everyday, sometimes even attaching a photo for reference LOL. I picture you at the supermarket, stumbling upon these new health beverages that you want to try out. But if your Dr. Zayne says that they’re simply drinks full of more sugar than actual benefits, you’ll have zero problem putting them back on the shelf. “Do any of these actually work for gut health? I sent you the nutrition label. What do you think?”

✴︎ I believe he always takes your questions seriously, but you have moments where you ask him something so ridiculous that he can’t help but laugh. “Zayne, babe… I ate like three apples and a pomegranate, and now my mouth feels weird. Am I dying?” Don’t catch him on a day where he’s feeling goofy either, because he might scare you a little bit.

✴︎ “You may have oral allergy syndrome, my love.” Just imagine his tone being dead serious and the silence that follows. And when you start losing it over the phone, he tries to calm you down, but he’s just smiling so hard at your theatrics. When you search it up and you start worrying if you’ll ever be able to eat another mango again in your life, he tries to suppress his laughter, all while attempting to soothe you at the same time.

✴︎ You’ll be walking around while you guys are on a date and will randomly ask him how many calories does he think you’ve burned, just to see how accurate he is compared to your walking app that tracks all of that for you. Not only does he get incredibly close, he’s also able to do the same with the amount of steps you’ve actually taken.

✴︎ “Quick, we’ve been walking thirty minutes, normal paced. How many calories? Go!”

✴︎ Just wait till you start watching one of those medical shows. You never watch an episode without him because you have to know how accurate the writing is. He’s gotten through three seasons with you and sometimes, he’d answer questions before you even asked because he just knows you so well. And you legitimately learn so much that even you start pointing out unrealistic things yourself.

✴︎ “That doesn’t even make sense. He was hit in a major artery, wasn’t he Zayne? He shouldn’t even be able to argue with a doctor right now.” He’s so proud of you, by the way. How information sticks with you. And honestly? He finds it sexy—particularly knowing that he’s the reason why you know the things that you do.

✴︎ Times when you try to eat healthier, you always ask him how many calories something will be if you take something out or off. Like you’d still eat junk food or foods that aren’t exactly healthy, but you wonder what the difference will be if you add a vegetable. LOLLL.

✴︎ “Zayne, if I put only mushrooms on the pizza, is that better?”

“Honey, I think it’s best to just discard the pizza entirely in order to properly fulfill the goal you intended to reach.”

“But Zayne…It’s Friday and it’s pizza.”

✴︎ Some more questions off the top of my head from you would be; “If I eat more carrots than usual, will the decrease my chances of having to wear those thick bifocals when we’re old?

“If I’m on top more often when we have sex, will that tone my thighs out more?”

“How is it possible to drink a gallon of water a day? There’s just not enough time to drink all that liquid.”

✴︎ Omg, you totally believe that ginger is like the cure all and you even make him eat a raw slice of it a day LOLLLL. He admits that it has its benefits, but when he tries to tell you that you have to do more than just eat ginger, you listen, but you’re still so insistent about it.

✴︎ “Despite the benefits and your complete belief in the sacred ginger, love, please make sure you continue to take your daily supplements. Add to your regimen so that you improve your health—don’t take from it believing that something is an optimal replacement.”

✴︎ This one is a little explicit. But, I imagine you and him finish having sex, he’s on top of you, both of you already came and feel good. And even when you’re breathless, even with the glorious man above you, you can’t help it when you ask: “Do you think we’ve met our quota on physical activity for the next few days?”

✴︎ Zayne can’t help but laugh, leaning down to kiss your neck. But he’s also filthy enough to move his hips just a little, hinting that he in fact could go again and says, “I think it’s best to try again… One more time, just to be safe. I’m sure the quota will be more than met once I’m finished with you.”

✴︎ Of course you’re going to let him fuck your brains out again. Why wouldn’t you let Dr. Zayne take care of you? What kind of patient would you be if you didn’t?

as much as i liked the eddieravi hug, the whole buddieravi scene confused me, narratively speaking. i thought maybe ravi was meant to be a buffer so people would see that buck and eddie’s friendship is not … normal. it’s a plausible theory! but after the 817 cold open where buck remembers or day dreams about the 118 family dinner, something about eddie and ravi in those two scenes Stood Out to me. i think the show is establishing something, if not foreshadowing.

first, let’s assume that next season, buck and ravi will be partners. hen or chim will be captain, which means we get cheddie or heneddie as paramedics (yay forever). buck and eddie are gonna be Buddie but also buddies, they still have each other’s back. buck and ravi aren’t the new buddie duo without the homoeroticism; ravi will be his own character and he has his individual relationships with the core four.

episode 816 - the funeral that flopped. i thought it was buck being buck when he revealed eddie to ravi (and us) because that’s buck’s special guy! but the next episode where eddie reveals chris to buck? hm. there’s a parallel.

episode 817 - the heartwarming firefam dinner that turned eerie. eddie sits next to ravi who is wondering what’s the deal with waiting for everyone to be present before they can eat (he’s still a probie in buck’s vision). bobby takes a seat as he explains and eddie can be seen patting ravi’s shoulder. we know bobby and eddie are mirrors. eddie asks bobby what to plate up for him, and bobby passes his plate. is he passing the baton? in what sense? i doubt eddie will be captain. but —

going back to 816. look at the way eddie approaches ravi when they hug. it’s almost paternal but not quite. i’d say it’s akin to bobby and eddie’s relationship. it’s possible eddie knows some details about how it went down at the lab, how ravi almost died, and it’s his first time losing a crew member in the line of duty (bobby is alive, don’t even worry about it). eddie lost a crew member in that helicopter crash, didn’t he? he managed to save everyone else but he still had survivor’s guilt, which exacerbated a few years later when he found out the rest of his team who he saved died, one by one, after their tour. ravi could be struggling with some survivor’s guilt because iirc, he was temporarily out for the count, and it was down to bobby to help him. maybe he’s wondering if he could’ve done more to prevent bobby’s death if he didn’t pass out, like eddie who wonders the same if he was there.

the clumsy question ravi asked eddie about the funeral, bringing up how many funeral he must’ve attended since eddie was in the army. it’s almost like ravi was looking for advice or guidance, and he’s seeking it from eddie instead of buck. and eddie seemed patient with ravi. eddie probably didn’t attend many funerals but he did have an indirect hand in other people’s deaths (even in self defence; he was a combat medic and his medic copter was shot down - a war crime if i’m correct. a big part of eddie’s character is to save and heal, not kill). bobby indirectly killed 148 people due to the apartment building not up to code, which exacerbated the fire from the heater bobby left on unattended.

we know when chim went to bring ravi back from the academy, ravi was feeling guilty about the family he couldn’t fully save (one child died). and there’s the backstory with ravi’s childhood cancer. buck and chim did their part in mentoring ravi; it’s probably eddie’s turn to mentor him. but not exactly mentor. he could be there for ravi like bobby was for eddie, who knows a lot about survivor’s guilt - especially with bobby’s death sorta linking them together - and eddie will know a lot about childhoods being spent in and out of the healthcare system, considering his son chris who has CP.

buck and eddie used to be the annoying older brother figures to ravi, mainly buck being the prankster and eddie who is like hehe just observing until buck goes over the top, ok buck, time to stop. now they’re all genuine friends but there are some things that buck won’t be able to help ravi with, like bobby could for eddie when buck couldn’t (dead wives, ptsd/suicide, NunGate relationship with catholicism).

apart from bobby, eddie was the last to sit at the table. next to ravi. and bobby takes his seat and explains about working and eating together as a family. eddie pats ravi’s shoulder. eddie gets the plate from bobby. and back which means alobby, yup. buck is observing all of this.

buck’s in what he thinks is the Bobby Mode, trying to be there for his family, assessing grief levels; he already has the knowledge of ravi feeling insecure as a firefighter and now dealing with a traumatic call where they all lost bobby. buck (subconsciously?) realises that maybe ravi needs eddie. just like eddie needed bobby when shannon died; buck probably called bobby who was off duty when he was temporarily suspended. aka he was away (sounds familiar?). buck reveals eddie to ravi. they hug after bobby’s death, just as bobby hugged eddie after shannon’s death.

now let’s flip the script! it’s likely ravi was the one who called eddie about bobby. eddie was away in el paso and he came back for the funeral. buck was spiralling and eddie felt bad for being mean so he arranges for chris to come visit his buck. he knew chris’ company would be what buck needed. eddie reveals chris to buck.

ryan guzman, in the zach sang podcast, mentioned finally having a (more) solid knowledge of his character after 7 seasons, and he sees those past seasons as a backstory, a foundation. he’s starting to figure out who he is, and i think being a pillar for ravi is one part of it (because i think eddie is more than his sexuality/his relationship with buck, and it sounded like something ryan was eager about re. eddie’s character growth).

but for all we know, new viewers were tuning in after the funeral leaks and bobby’s death, and eddie wasn’t there at all. so the family dinner scene and the eddieravi hug are there to establish who eddie is, and his kind of relationship with buck. not to mention the reintroduction of chris and tia pepa, which is important for establishing buddie canon and buddiechris family unit.

to conclude: buddie canon, bobby lives, potential eddieravi mirroring or relationship akin to bobbyeddie.

More than ever, I think this is a confirmation to the public rather than buddie canon. Oh this week is going to be FUN. And it is quite different when is Ryan saying that in a usual interview (audience=fans), but Oliver is saying in a really brouder context= GA. So that's why I said that now it looks more like a reminder rather than a nice thing. Just a confirmation.

All of these questions approved by ABC and all of these people from the GA watching these interviews on national mainstream television, wondering if they missed something there and if they should maybe look into the Buddie of it all.

A great podcast where Oliver basically confirmed that the 'You wanna go for the title' Buddie scene was super gay. In that same podcast he also refuses to talk about BT.💅😌 Oh... and did I hear 'Whatta man' at the end of that podcast? Oh, I think I did! 😄

HIII, I just saw your post in which you headcannon which second language would the Faroff guys have and my dumbass can't figure it out if you are showing that Tobi would be French and Fenn German, or if its supposed to be from the other's pov (aka Fenn speaking French to Tobi and vice versa), for some reason I can see it being either way so I wanted to discover what did you meant! (Also I would love to know more of your headcanons 👀)

Also that post made me think of something and I would love to know your opinion, how do you think the story would go (specially the beginning) if their countries had different languages? Do you think that there would be a big language barrier or that maybe there would exist some "universal" language (like how English is perceived nowadays) that they would use? I think this topic is pretty interesting to explore since it could add many layers and opportunities of misunderstandings, but I wanted to hear your thoughts! :D

Answer to your other question below the split, it was getting a bit long ↓↓↓

It's really neat that you ask how I think the story would go if their countries had different languages, because I do actually have headcanons about Fenn and Tobias' knowledge of other languages, despite having never thought about this scenario exactly before. Basically, I think Tobias would've been taught multiple different languages in his studies, but in Sona I think learning multiple languages would be looked down upon or maybe even banned (it helps the government keep them brainwashed if their ability to read, understand, and learn from other countries is limited), so I don't think Fenn would've been taught another language aside from his main one.

SO! If their countries had different main languages. I think there would be a huge language barrier on Sona's side, because I think the majority of Sonan soldiers wouldn't speak the Vaylinian language, including Fenn (I can see Oskar knowing it and having taught him some words and phrases, though.) However, I think it's very possible and maybe even likely that Tobias would've known the Sonan language.

Therefore, in the beginning they would've spoken entirely in the Sonan language. We probably would've only seen the Vaylinian language being spoken when Tobias is alone, in flashbacks, and when he's saying something he doesn't want Fenn to understand.

I also think Fenn would have a huge mental rule against speaking the Vaylinian language at all, to the point where he'd see it as a betrayal to his country, so there would've been no teaching him anything in the beginning unfortunately. He probably would've gotten very aggressive when hearing Tobias speak in the Vaylinian language as well, because I think he would take it as 'I can't understand what he's saying' = 'he's planning something', which, as we all know, means he'd go absolutely berserk and DEMAND to know what he's saying. (It would be really funny if Tobias just came up with random bullshit and told Fenn that's what he said LMAOOOO)

But over time, as he got closer to Tobias, it would've changed a bit. Especially after their truce agreement, I think he'd still ask what Tobias is saying when he speaks in Vaylinian, but it would be more out of genuine curiosity rather than paranoia. Still no speaking it himself, though. Maybe he would've spoken it to Tobias for the first time around the same time that he let him stay in his quarters, and started trying to actually learn it shortly after the current point we are at in the story? (For any time travellers, the "current point" as of this post is Episode 83 - Truth: Part 2)

Anyway this was a SUPER COOL ask to receive and there are almost definitely more interesting possibilities of this AU aside from the stuff I mentioned 👀

First of all THANK YOU so much to everyone who has replied. I have LOVED reading the responses and agree with so many of the choices and comments. You're a brilliant bunch... 😎😎

I've now given the questions some thought and my answers are here:

Q1. I agree that Dr Who might not be right for him now - but it was very hot at the time when he was a young actor and in need of work and given some of the stuff he has done (a number of extra roles in routine tv series and some fairly ropey movies) I'd be surprised if he wouldn't have accepted a decent role in it if offered.

I'm with others though that I'm not sure I could see him as a random alien role. I LOVE the idea of him as The Master - and agree he'd be awesome. I also like the idea of him leading one of the 'non Dr' based episodes where there's a well written human lead - like Marc Warren in Love and Monsters or Carey Mulligan in Blink.

Q2. I've pondered this one A LOT and love some of the ideas here. For my part I've wondered about the 2005 Casanova series (he says it was a role based on a real person!). I think he would have been great in it - its a mix of drama, comedy and tragedy and its a very sexy role... 😉 Or maybe Kinky Boots (the movie...)?

Q3. Theatre... as others have said I would watch him in absolutely anything... but I absolutely love the idea of Streetcar, especially after playing Kazan (and if you remember @season-77 - I talked to him about the directing style of Streetcar when we met him...).

I'd love to see him do some Shakespeare... although I'm more a fan of the tragedies than comedies so maybe Macbeth? - although I suspect perhaps he's avoided Shakespeare for a reason (given he did a lot of it at drama school)?

As others have said I would love to see him in a comedy - something comtemporary perhaps - and I'm with @too-antigonish on how much I'd have loved to see him in Miss Julie and Black Comedy (lets start a petition to bring it back... preferably at the Royal Exchange or the Everyman in Liverpool).

If I get the chance to speak to him again (and he doesn't run off screaming.. lol) I'd probably ask him even more about his photography and about travelling as both are clear passions for him. I'd also love to ask him about his writing and what future projects he's working on although whether he'd tell me much I'm not sure.

Q4. Again, as others have said I would love to see an exhibition of his photography - and maybe his wider artwork if he also draws/paints. And I love @librawritesstuff 's idea of seeing some of his writing. I'd also be interested to see if he steps into directing in theatre at some stage. He mentions this in the TSP interview and I think it would be interesting to see how he worked on stage as his directing work is so 'photographic'/visual and theatre is such as different medium. I'm sure he'd bring something really interesting to it with the right piece.

Q5. My honest sense is he probably isn't that much of a cook... just the odd things he mentions in interviews and the fact that he doesn't seem much of a foodie - although he loves Italy and Italian food so he does have great taste in food 😊 I have three options:

a) He cooks basic 'bloke food' - chilli, simple pasta, maybe noodles/stir fry given his apparent love of the far east culture. Followed by something very sweet and very chocolate. All simple but edible..

b) He buys something ready made and tries to pass it off as home cooked but quickly fesses up that it isn't and opens another bottle of wine to compensate.

c) He appears at the door with smoke billowing around him and apologises that dinner is ruined (because he got distracted in the dark room...) and suggests he buys dinner out instead 😂😂

So.... rather than my usual snark/lust/random shit that I post I have come up with five questions about Evans (obviously) that I'm really interested to hear from you all about.

At some stage he MUST have been approached to do Dr Who (not The Doctor but a character... I mean, EVERYONE has been in Dr Who). So... What Character from Dr Who (preferably an alien/baddie) would you want to see Evans play - and why

I LOVE the Two Shot Podcast interview and have listened to it so so so so many times. There's a bit where he's talking about auditions and talks about a part he really really wanted in his 20s that he was gutted not to get. What part do you think it was (it doesn't have to be real to the timescale etc.. just what part do you think he would have been great in and that he'd have been gutted not to get)

In the hope that he does more theatre sometime soon what role would you love to see him play on stage and why. And an addition for anyone who wants to.... If you met him at the stage door what would you say to him/talk to him about

What one thing would you love to see him do in the future - could be acting, could be something to do with his hobbies, could be anything at all...

The worst part about polling is that I’m rarely able to answer simple questions with simple answers. Hence why I wrote an entire essay about your question instead.

This post has some vague spoilers for Yellowjackets Season 1, but it’s honestly so vague I’d struggle to call it a spoiler. I list a few examples of media where people die, but I do it in such vague terms that nothing is actually said.

My reaction to death in media really depends. A lot of my favorite fics are all very comedic, and would use an unexpected death as a source for a lot of jokes. Macabre humor, very Addams family style. I wouldn’t care much, and the character might even come back as a ghost later in the story.

I don’t think that’s quite what you’re asking about.

Death is a complicated thing when it comes to writing. It’s the ultimate tragedy, it’s the ending of a character’s journey.

Written poorly, death feels arbitrary. It feels like something that happened because the author ran out of ideas.

(I have to confess to using death to cut a story short, but that was for a class project that had a due date. I simply couldn’t spend another fifty hours working on the project, there wasn’t time for that).

Used well, death feels purposeful. It can wreck you emotionally. A death can be the entire point of the work, written into fate from the moment the characters were first on the page.

Sometimes, though, a death isn’t the best option for dramatic effect. There are many tales of tragedy or horror that end on fates far worse than death. Orpheus doesn’t die at the end of Hadestown, but I am still wrecked by his fate. Some of the most haunting episodes of Twilight Zone end in a purgatory of endless suffering.

When it comes to Ao3, I don’t usually go for longer works that focus on slow-burn drama. That’s not my cup of tea. For my beloved handful of longer dramatic pieces I am subscribed to, the death of a major supporting character would be a step of growth for the main character. I’d be intrigued on how the author intends to write through the process of grief.

It feels almost instinctual for a writer to place a death at the end of a story- death can be more interesting placed at the beginning or somewhere in the middle. Does a characters death mark raising stakes (Yellowjackets S1E10 does this really well, but it’s also a plot point in most slasher horror films.)? Perhaps it’s the inciting incident for a revenge plot (I’m pretty sure this is the plot of John Wick, but I haven’t seen it). Perhaps it’s the death of the home they once knew, giving them no choice but to journey in a different direction (Star Wars, Lion King). Perhaps the death of a companion is the consequence of a main characters foolishness, a permanent reminder to not make the same mistakes again (this is in a book about wizards, I just can’t remember what it’s called right now. It’s also Yellowjackets S1E10). That last one is a bit delicate. The entire point is that the death is preventable, which might be aggravating for people.

Naturally, some people may not like media that features death. Some people might not like intense dramatic stakes. I’m one of these people sometimes. After a long day at work, I don’t want the emotional stress of being absolutely wrecked by tragedy.

If I’m in that mood, I don’t seek out content that would come near featuring death. I read fluffy comedies. It would be a massive tone shift to have a death played seriously in any sort of fluffy comedy piece- imagine if Phineas and Ferb had Candice die. That would break the plot. The piece would probably have to shift forever, no longer able to continue like those deaths didn’t happen. It would take a lot of good writing to return to a fluffy comedy after a death. It’s possible- the Simpsons has had multiple deaths- but it would be nearly impossible if it’s a major character (which is why they can’t kill off Homer Simpson).

No one is paying you to write fanfiction. You don’t have to conform to any sort of expectations. If you want to kill off every character to make a point, then do it. Who cares what your audience thinks? You’re making art. Sometimes the purpose isnt just to make people happy. Sometimes, characters have to die. Sacrifice your characters for the art.

Broke (2016): BBC Sherlock is a phenomenal piece of media and anything that seems like a flaw just hasn't been fully explored yet

Woke (2020): BBC Sherlock is an incredibly flawed series run by an egotistical writer, it never deserved the hype and is actively bad on so many fronts (especially representation)

Bespoke (2024): BBC Sherlock is flawed and bogged down by increasingly poor writing, which many fans refused to see while it was airing, leading to hugely misplaced expectations (particularly for the final series), AND it has the seeds of some compelling characterizations and portrayals, some genuinely solid performances, and touches--albeit imperfectly--on complexities that are still being discussed today (particularly as it relates to the relationship between Sherlock and John). The huge cultural impact of the show has created a massive pendulum effect in its public perception, leading to most people today remembering a caricature of the show (whether positive or negative) rather than appreciating its nuanced merits and failings...that being said Season 4 sucked

the emotional WHIPLASH i just got from episode 8 of hazbin hotel is insane and i have so many thoughts and none of them are coherent but hoo boy are they there please send help

the nancy boy thing is just so fucking insane because like. they broke from the spelling of this name to do it but also incorporated it into the spelling of his name with n for nancy (possibly showing how he associates it with himself). but the license plate could have been any letter and that letter could have been any word and they chose b for boy. they could have cut to the license plate from any letter in dennis and they chose n for nancy. and we already know the way dennis spells out his name/words in this scene is very important metaphorically they showed us with that alternate D.E.N.N.I.S. system he gives us so.....they did that on purpose and drew attention to it
