Ok gang!!!

It's been a while, and I think it's time to come clear about a plan I used to have, and how I am very unsure about whether or not it's worth doing.

I technically have the first chapter of The Empire of Preys ready to go. I have basically only that. I did plan to release it on the birthday of Halfway Home's last released chapter, but the truth is: it's happening smack in the middle of an incredibly busy time for me, so I have basically nothing ready as far as promotional material goes.

Also, and it was my plan for a little while, I don't think I can sustain the one chapter per week release schedule I once had with Halfway Home --and I had to come to terms with the fact that I do not have it in me to polish that story nearly as much as I did Halfway Home. I still love it, I still want it out... but I think I'll take it much slower and at a more regular "fanfic" pace for me than what I did with HH. The story of TEoP is not completed yet. I am not completely sure on how to go about certain PoV characters. But, I feel like I can't wait for a "perfect" version like I did with HH, or I will never release this story.

So, while I'm not sure whether or not I'll actually post the first chapter on the 20th of April, I will try to begin posting it relatively soon, and make no promises on when the next one will come out.

I have, however, character portraits in the work! It's coming!! At some point!! Maybe this week if I can finish my work by then!!

A relatively new addition to the cast of Duck Duck Goose, this is the malevolent and ill-tempered Little Bo Peep!

A ruthless little girl of blood and wool, she’s got a thin patience to those that oppose the goal of the sheep. She’s got quite the arsenal around her— a widespread flock of friendly looking little lambs that are much less cutesy when in battle. With relentless little manic sheep that are spotted all over the place, the sheep are spoken to have a vendetta against canine-kind and all things wolf-related, as they’ve grown tired of being thrown around and hunted so mercilessly by all the real big bad wolves of the world. When prey becomes predator, a leader is to be crowned to remind of the motive— and this is where Bo Peep— a girl perfectly fit for the job— comes into play.

Little Bo Peep is the human protector of these wooly little animals, and she’s been crowned to represent what they want— revenge; against all who have ever feasted their chop and harvested their wool. She’s uptight and snobbish— a total brat far too spoiled beyond repair. She makes the utmost perfect host for controlling, frolicking alongside the flock as it continues to flourish and grow. The sheep and their leader are the living proof not to trust all things cute and cuddly. In fact, they’re all proof that trust is a fragile virtue granted and destroyed— all you have to do is look into the gaze of Bo Peep the wrong way and you’ll find yourself with wool over your eyes!

Special thanks to @pazam, @menthum-mint and @shroingushour for some help with ideas for the finalized design! I had a little bit of trouble making her outfit a little more interesting initially, haha!

honestly one of my favourite things is drawing fanart for my own stories bc 1) i am my own stories biggest fan 2) seeing all the impactful scenes i have in mind in some sort of physical representation is just so nice and lk helps me write some scenes and 3) i can make my ocs look as silly and tragic as i want

I just noticed how Demonsoul's and Dreamsoul's relationships to the multiverse evolve into exact opposites of each other, which I think is really cool so let me talk about it for a second!

Deamy and Dreamy both start out in the exact same way. They're both gullible little children who treat universe travel as a fun game of playing pretend, and even though Demonsoul knows that there's more to it, she's too young to fully understand it at first.

Over time, Demonsoul stats to get much more interested in the multiverse and her ability to look into different realities, all while Dreamsoul starts to get bored of the "game" they "came up with". Eventually she stops believing in Demonsoul's statements and ultimately leaves universe travel behind completely.

After Deamy's and Dreamy's friendship comes to a close, Dreamsoul starts to completely distance herself from everything relating to Mario, and video games as a whole. Demonsoul on the other hand becomes absolutely obsessed with the other universe to the point where it's incredibly harmful to her. She starts to feel tortured by her knowledge of the multiverse, having to watch her friends die over and over again, unable to intervene.

Even though they both started out as naive children wanting to have some fun, they end up living complete opposite lifes, with Dreamsoul completely abandoning her past, while Demonsoul is getting devoured by it.

Oh yeah in regards to the tags in that poll...

Yeah part of the... Lore? Backstory?? History??? Whatever, of Meteors I'm probably gonna keep when I work the whole thing out properly is that at some point, Roxy and Foxy were intended to be a double act. Roxy has no memory or inclination of this and has no idea how to feel about it when she finds out.

i thought i was gonna struggle to hit word count today. cannot believe i went OVER.

anyways. the most interesting thing i have to talk about is the scene i came up with :333 for :333 the big fight king and the collector have right at the end...ive always like, known the big picture stuff but oh ho ho there are some things king can throw in the collector's face that he's saying in anger that are going to cut DEEP. when i say i am excited. oh. oh i am so excited.

also. oh my god i hate writing scenes with. counting them. six?? characters?? you add their palismen and thats ELEVEN, twelve if you count francois but hes a stuffed rabbit and just Watches. wild. so so many guys are here. the collector chapters could never.

my favorite part of what i wrote today:

“The one and only!” Amber strikes a pose, but her smile falls after a moment. “Wait. Wait wait wait.” She drops King and scrambles back to Katya, and sticks a finger out at him. “How do you know we did that? Have you been watching us? Are you a spy for The Collector?” Mattholomule tenses up. Even Emira and Edric cast suspicious glances his way, and King’s fur bristles up, a growl building on his lip, to retort, to say— That he’s been playing hide and seek while The Collector trapped countless people? That he shares a room with them? That sometimes, when they’re tackling each other on the slayground, King has fun, despite rooms upon rooms of people turned into toys? That sometimes he plays with those toys, and even makes his stomach twist, he keeps doing it? King manages, “I—” Amber jumps forwards and elbows him in the chest. “Nah, I’m just joking,” she says as King grunts. “Course you aren’t! You’re the Owl Lady’s kid! Boy, I’m glad to have one of you here.” “Right,” King says, his voice faint. “Obviously.”

I've been thinking about this scene again for reasons. And aside from the fact that Angel (yes, this is Angel for those who don't know) is obviously furious with Amy for telling him Buffy's died here (she hasn't). I wonder if Amy saying Buffy drowned makes it even worse, because that's how Buffy died the first time. And Angel doesn't even fathom that, or believe that he would lose her that way another time.

Me and my issue with always overcomplicating every character I make smh smh

I mean I think part the issue is that I wouldn't even know how I myself would react in a lotta situations cuz you have to think about the specific person, the environment, how I'm feeling in that moment (emotionally and physically), if other people are around and also the type of response I'm looking for

Like in the moment it's a no brainer for me but if I think about a moment in THEORY then I overthink it

Which also leads to me overthinking every possible interaction and response a character will make like idk how they would act in that situation! Is there some sort of backstory reason that they might have a certain reaction to that thing! Have they thought about this interaction before or are they going in without any preperations for this interaction! Do they think before they speak!! How am I suppose to write a character who doesn't think before they speak while I am literally thinking before they speak
