According to Google, Wonyoung only uses Innisfree products and starts by double cleansing her face, for that, she uses the Green Tea Cleansing Oil ($24), and the Green Tea Amino Acid Face Cleanser ($12)

Foundation on the centre of your face and blend outwards for a naturally contoured look.

Always apply your matt products before your shimmers, that way, your makeup looks cleaner!! Also, apply your glitters from finest to chunkiest. :)

Don't apply your shimmers/glitters past the middle of your eyelid to avoid looking puffy.

If you have warm-toned skin, go for peachy glitters, for cool-toned skin, choose a champagne-coloured one.

Hello, minor proshipper here (17). Wanted to share a bit of my experience with fandom spaces and the whole and shipping discourse, that way i want to give antis (though i know most of them are not open to other people's experiences) some views of what i did go through.

I never had parental restriction over internet, i used my mom's cellphone and my brother's computer when i could. Given to that, i discovered what "sex" was to a eager age, before i was 9 years old. Of course i didn't understand fully about the implications of that, in fact i used to do "adult" things to myself in the living (rubbing against furniture) or in my room. I had some stuff i liked to see in drawings already, and it wasn't even explicit stuff. I discovered what vore was because i saw a MLP drawing, i didn't understand it but was like "well, i like to see some weird drawings too".

At age 9 i was gifted a tablet, i had my own gmail and had internet access without any kind of supervision. I watched YouTube and played some games, nothing out of normal considering a lot of my generaion grew up with games such as DDLC, hello neighbor, fnaf and etc. My favorite games were Misao and Mad father, i liked these kinds of games although there weren't many gameplays that I liked of them. I understand the story of the games, they were dark (SPOILERS! misao is about a teacher that rapes students and killed misao, i think he's kind of a necro too.) i knew what the villains did was wrong, because my mom always warned me about strangers, specially when they offered things like driving me home. But i felt attracted to the teacher of Misao regardless, he had a a sad backstory and i liked his personality, his way of making others think he is pure-hearted too. He is an interesting characters. I also had a crush on other morally dark characters, such as Freaky Fred from that show of the scared dog (i loved that show, some people say fred makes references to pedophiles i guess it could be), asgore from undertale, cedric from sofia the first (these two are silly but did bad things so 🤷‍♂️)

I could differentiate that the Misao teacher would be a criminal in real life, that i wouldn't be attracted to him in real life but disgusted and wished his execution, but he doesn't exist so that's not the case. I was in the undertale and gravity falls fandom too, and in that time it was common to see frans, billdip and even pinecest content. I didn't really cared, never liked those ships because they weren't for me. But i did like a lot of other darkships, mainly (Harry potter jumpscare) snarry, i discovered thanks to Wattpad and started reading A LOT of fanfics of them (i had a crush on snape too btw LOL, still have), if someone asked i would have the excuse of "oh no i just like it when harry's an adult and on aus!!!" BIG ASS LIE!!!!! someone cut off my tongue for being such a blunt liar, I LOVED THE FACT THAT IT WAS TEACHER X STUDENT lmao, i liked harry being like 14 minimum tho.

I also had a best friend (who now I don't talk to) that liked kuroshitsuji (i think he was a proshipper in denial she had SUS anime likes), i (person who pretended not to read any weird ship to please others) saw the anime (she obligated me to watch it lmao) AND IT WAS SO OBVIOUSLY SH0TA CONTENT!!!! i was like... side eye in a neutral way. You're telling me you're an anti (I didn't knew the word anti back then but whatever) while your favorite animes are KUROSHITSUJI and MISS KOBAYASHI DRAGON MAID???? plus danganronpa. Like sure i believe you (she denied to ship sebaciel but uhm sure i believe you girl whatever you say). I didn't even liked kuroshitsuji but from time to time i saw sebaciel content because they're cute.

btw i never stopped reaading ships of dark/problematic ships, even when i was a anti (poser lol).

Later at 13 or 14 y/o i changed school and FELL MAD IN LOVE like realllyyyyy bad i was insane for a teacher, since he was the only one kind to me and that respected my pronouns and gender (im a trans male). I WAS DELUSIONAL, AND I DON'T MEAN IT LIKE IN A ABLEIST WAY, literally wanted him to groom me and take me to his home and yk dumb stuff. So what i did not to go insane? Since the psychologists in the school sucked ass they were transphobic and blamed me for a lot of stuff. WRITE/READ FANFICTION AND DRAW MYSELF! express myself in art. i didn't tell no one about my crush until i was out of there. Obviously i wrote, drew and read about teacher x student, grooming, fluff and smut because tbh i might be hypersexual. That kept me sane.

"PROSHIPPING" as antis call it (actually refering to darkships) kept me sane, saved my life since i literally wanted to kms in that moment. Later a had a online boyfriend that was UGGHH so toxic (younger than me for 1 year) and was an anti so bad and i had to pretend to be one too while reading freaky fanfics. I broke up with him because he treated me poorly and a headmate of mine blocked him from everywhere.

I had other friend that i told that i shipped snarry and kaeluc being so frickin nervous and tey literally didn't cared (they didn't know about the characters but i told them), that's when i realised maybe i shouldn't be friends with antis. I currently have like 2-3 active friends i talk to, one i think it's not into shipping drama but dislikes ships such as billdip and says stuff like "i ship billford for the complex relationship I don't support toxic ships!!" and then says they're her fathers be so fr make it make sense... while the other despises dottore (genshin character that experimented on several children blablaba hes bad but he's my little meow meow) and darkships while shipping kazuscara that is like toxic and age gap and ??? THAT SAME FRIEND LIKES TO WATCH... HEAR THIS!!! real gore, like people killing themselves and is on shtwt too??? 😭

Hi! I’m still new to Jimin and Jungkook and all things BTS, my sister is more of a fan so I’ve always known some songs, and knew they were serving in the military right now. But I was never interested beyond just listening to music before.

A few months ago my sister was watching Are you sure on disney. I noticed it was in korean but it didn’t even hit me it could be BTS since they were in the military, so I thought it was a YouTuber couple. The episode she had on was one of the Japan ones. I remember I said something about it being very ambitious to set up cameras around the house for vlogs? And then they did something cute and I said they were a cute couple. You can imagine my sister’s reaction to that…

After she told me who they were and they’re not together but some believe they are, I was confused. We ended up watching all of are you sure together in the weeks after that, and even though the episodes were long and slow, it was delightful! They are hilarious, clearly know and complement each other so well. We also watched the BTS documentary and concert film on Disney after that, sister was happy to finally have converted me Lol

But after that I was still curious about Jimin and Jungkook. I couldn’t figure them out. They were like an old married couple, but other times I could see why my sister claimed they were just friends. To be fully honest, I think I would have stuck to couple without questioning it if I had watched ays on my own with no additional info. My sister couldn’t give me much on them though, she’s not very focused on them since they are not her favorites in the group.

So naturally, I went looking for more. I got more into their music and watched a lot on YouTube, and did some digging here on tumblr. I’m still not sure what I believe jikook are, but that might be because I have only ”known” them for a few months. I also don’t think it matters. It’s saddening to see the climate among their fans though. I just skimmed through the recent asks on this page, and I’m seriously wondering if these people are pretending to have these opinions just to stir up drama, or what? It seems completely outlandish to me to be thinking this negatively of their sweet relationship. They deserve better.

Absolutely and vehemently NO on both points.

No offence to those who enjoy them, but I don't care for Taylor content creators in general. I will bang this drum till the cows come home, but if someone is creating content on a monetized platform like YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, podcasts, etc., chances are more likely than not that the goal of their content is to increase views for revenue, which means clickbait (e.g. incendiary opinions or topics) is the best way to do that. I know #NotAllCreators or whatever, but for many of them this is absolutely the case. Think of why they make you mad-- they make you want to react and give your own opinions or tell them how they're wrong on every other platform you use-- and that's exactly the point. Don't fall for the rage bait. (I've also heard that person in particular is terrible.)

OK, soapbox over.

This is super pretentious of me, but I just don't find most creators particularly well-informed, well-spoken or well-positioned. Most of the ones I've watched lack the kind of nuance I find among friends here on Tumblr. Again, just my own personal taste, but I've curated a very enjoyable experience here for the most part and anytime I venture outside of it I'm left disappointed. And to be perfectly honest, I think TTPD broke people's brains, and in this case not in a good way. There were a few channels I'd tune into once in awhile because I sometimes enjoyed their reactions or perspectives, but since TTPD everything has been about ~muse discourse~ and easter eggs and whatnot, and I find nearly everyone's takes shallow or uninteresting (or annoying), so I stopped giving them my time. (And to be clear: I also engage in ~muse discourse~ on occasion, but there's a difference between analyzing songs and experiences within the context of the art and what most creators I've seen do and it's unsatisfying to me.)

To loosely borrow from Gracie Abrams, no chance I waste my internet brain rotting on random men (and women), not one of them is smarter than all my friends.

RE: the Anon about bad Greek representation in the game Hades 2

Hello, I answered your ask last night however I was soon notified that the link you added came from a YouTuber who, apart from the incidental valid points made in this particular video, has altogether different motives and beliefs than the ones I wish this blog to be associated with. So I deleted the ask with the link but I am giving you my original answer regarding problematic Greek representation intact. Besides, this video does not analyze why such representation in the context of Greek mythology and identity is questionable but rather disregards diversity in media just for the sake of it. So any person interested in Greek matters won’t learn much from watching it.

Like I said the basis of his points in this video makes sense. However, I don't know, I feel like all this discourse regarding the poor, agenda driven Greek representation and the appropriation of the mythology drains me and for no good reason.

Unfortunately, I have realised that the people who support such questionable treatment of the Greek cultural heritage among other things, supposedly for the sake of the greater good of inclusivity and diversity, are absolutely not open to feedback and other opinions and appear unable to entertain the possibility that they have chosen toxic, problematic and - above all - counterproductive ways to support those very important values. The same exact thing is happening with companies - say Netflix and Disney - which are left scratching their heads about what is going wrong and all their new projects are bombing so bad. It is funny how so many people around the world consider the answer obvious but the companies are still having crisis meetings to solve the impossible challenge.

There are several reasons I do not bother much with it. First of all, all this discourse and the urgency for a diverse Dodecatheon is an exclusively American concern through and through. People from Africa, Asia and South America resolutely couldn't care less and I have read in several comments that many people feel weird about how North Americans and a few West Europeans act regarding those matters. I feel disconnected from all these people both in terms of age and interests and as a Greek I also feel entirely disconnected from all these "Greek inspired" products. We all know very well that there's nothing Greek about the Hades videogame, the LO comic, Percy Jackson, Kratos and so on. Literally nothing whatsoever.

The most annoying thing about it is that these people genuinely think they "know" Greek culture. But honestly I think at some point soon they will grow out of it. Most of them are really young and act young about it, you know? At some point the companies also will either shut down or change tactics and content. Because the "piss on" trend of course doesn't affect only the Greek culture but many other fields, i.e European history, classic literature, traditional fairytales, Norse mythology etc

Because this world operates so much on money, simply not giving something your money is your most effective way to voice your opinion. Don't pay for that movie or that game or that book. And maybe leave a review phrased in the manner of constructive criticism, not an aggressive attack, because this leaves you vulnerable in front of these ahistorical people who call every mere different perspective as "fascism" (the irony XD).

I am always far more alarmed by actual historical revisionism, especially the one that is happening around us, in places next to us, waaaay more than I care about a random teen in the other side of the globe who wants an Asian Hestia girlboss or else they can't sleep easy at night. You have to realise that such a person doesn't truly think this is how a Greek is supposed to or usually looks like. Such a person actually doesn't give a shit about the Greek look or anything Greek at all. All they care is what the videogame they play looks like and how much the designers agree with them or include features they have. The fact that the character comes from Greece is entirely irrelevant and incidental. They do not care. So I now feel it's a lost cause to even try to discuss this with them. Judging from comments I have read, they downright don't understand and they are visibly unwilling to understand what we say.

And I am always way more irritated by the double standards with which the Greek civilization is studied , the very real discriminations against Modern Greeks, the toxic levels of academic classicism, the historical appropriation in the West and in the Balkans for different reasons and above all else the amazing inability of our nation to care, address the problem and at least attempt to protect our identity with dignity and confidence. Compared to these, all the whims of fanfiction readers and videogame players just pale to me. I do react some times but it's not a regular thing.

I've seen such good things about my sweet mobster I'm excited to watch mainly because it's two underrated very talented actors and the premise of ex cons and how society treats them is so interesting. One thing I want to know is how is the romance? I don't particularly enjoy ships where one half is way more in love than the other and it's just one party doing all the work ( as in taking care of the other person, putting their needs first, saving them etc) if it's not a two way street and it's equal then it irks me so my otp taste is more one spring night/ healer/ hometown Cha Cha where it's I will do anything for you from both of them rather than just one of them and it's 99% the guy like samdari marry my husband and perfect marriage revenge and this is definitely giving me those vibes from the comments and I want to be ready 🤔🤔

I haven't watched today's episode yet but from what we've seen so far in the show I think you'd like it! my sweet mobster's dynamic is more "he falls first" than "he's the only one who's devoted" - she's a content creator so he watches all her videos on youtube while she's still trying to figure out if he's nice or not lol they really don't meet in the best of circumstances tbh so it takes her a little bit of time before she feels at ease (there's a really fun scene where she visits him at the hospital and circumstances put them veryyy close to each other and he's all flustered when she leaves while she's like what just happened) but it still happens pretty fast despite some people around her being like "girl, he's literally a criminal" and she's like "well I feel good about him so who cares". it's fun to see how he does get flustered by her and her words despite being this cool and composed person who's even a threat to some while she likes to tease him

(the rest of this is going to be more spoilery)

the male lead is very protective of the female lead (and he's also the "I'm not worthy of her I'm too dangerous and dark for her" type so he's also torn over how to protect her from himself and his world) and there are a few times where he "saves" her and he's very knight-like but I see him more as a provider since he offers one of his rooms to her when she loses her place - and when that happens she insists she has to give him something in return and so she agrees to teach classes for his company/gang's members. in various situations she's very determined to help out and he's very determined to please her lol

one of the times when he saves her is because they both get stuck in a fridge closet and she has to go to the hospital, he's stuck to her bedside until she wakes up and almost as soon as she does she insists he also has to rest and take care of himself which I loved!! that felt very grown up and she literally forces him to sleep in her own hospital bed and she takes the spare bed, she's very curious about him (they're both quite fascinated by each other tbh) and asks him questions, she can see he's not used to taking care of himself and she's like "not on my watch" - he disappears at some point and she refuses to be left behind in the search and when he's arrested she's sooo anxious and worried she's literally crying in the parking lot

the funniest thing is that once they start living together they're very quickly in a situation where the people around them know there's something between them but it's not really addressed lol she's literally called "sister in law" by his gang members but none of them correct anyone??

also, random detail but she has been looking for her long lost childhood friend for years...........

YouTube and Stuff First, I'm trying to get my YouTube channel up in the next couple of weeks... just for those who care. If you have naming suggestions, I'm all ears. If there are things you like to regularly hear from me, let me know. I know y'all want "tea" when I've got it, and I will provide that from time to time, when appropriate. I plan to do a lot of debunking using the logical fallacies and an insider's look at PR strategies. I plan to do a lot of Markle Snarkle, but if you've enjoyed things I've done in the past like the Handwriting Analysis, I can do that once a week, I can do tarot spreads (for fun only, ovbs), I can critique in a constructive and friendly way other content creator's assertions (if y'all ask and direct my attention to it). Also, thanks to TRG for ALREADY giving me a lot of great advice. I also need advice on the easiest way to manage graphics, editing, etc. I'd LOVE to be able to animate my little Secondhand Coke avatar to say what I'm voicing over, but don't know how. Music is set. I'm a musician, and I've gotten my little instrumental zinger almost read to go... I really just have to figure out how to edit it together. Like using a macbook pro or iphone. Any helpful hints would be appreciated. Inexpensive or free editing software recs, places where I can get images and video that are free, even other music blurbs... I can use all the help I can get. Anyway, re: Prince Harry, the impression I am getting is that the people around Harry want to be worthy of Harry's trust. I have looked into the future… where I am from… and ok yeah let's start off with the big news first! In the future… ProtoDungeon: Episode III will be on Steam!

Steam's inner machinations are something of a secret to everybody, but wishlists absolutely help the folks who make games. It's one of the most important ways you can help me, even if you're not sure you'll ever buy it. Wishlists get games seen, so please wishlist!

I'm really excited about this. This one actually my original plan for ProtoDungeon, to put each individual episode up on Steam and use the experience to improve… but I was talked out of it by a guy who was mad that Episode I wasn't a full-length game, and by his predictions of my failure. I switched to only publishing for free on Itch and decided The Waking Cloak and ProtoDungeon DX would be the only games I put on Steam.

I wish I'd never listened to that guy. He clearly didn't care about me, and I let his words and attitude control me.

The future is ever-shifting

There's a lot of things I've been doing because I felt like (and have been told) I should be doing. So for the future, I had been intending to really hit the ground running on all fronts, posting to social medias everywhere, launching tiktok and insta reels and youtube shorts, and generally pouring my efforts into "marketing."

I don't think there's anything wrong with this, but it's also… not me? It's not really what I want for my future. I've thought long and hard about this hobby, and I want to enjoy the parts I enjoy, and not let pride prevent me from letting other people take over the parts that I'm not really good at and don't have the time for anyway. Let's face it: my plate is full with my job, my kids, my house, taking care of my wife, chronic illness/pain, etc.

On top of that, I've been off social media for a long time now, and it's been so restorative. I don't fault anyone for being on any of them, and I'll poke my head up every now and then, but… I'm letting go of "making it" on socials. I can't keep up with the sacrificial requirements of the Algorithms. I can't keep up with the comparison game with everyone else making stuff on there. I had spent a lot of time curating my feed(s) so that I saw only wonderful people making wonderful art, and I still felt like I was always "coming up short."

The new plan: just post here on the devlog… just things I want to post. Focus on making my games and having fun doing it. I'm not gonna spend time finding the opportune moment to generate traffic or to say just the right things to sell people on playing my games or learn all the metrics and stuff. I won't post in every conceivable space hoping I'll get enough momentum to go viral or even just noticed.

Will that mean fewer wishlists, fewer followers, fewer people playing my games? Yes. And I'm content with that. I just want to enjoy the act of making games. I don't need to "make it big" anymore. I look up to folks like ConcernedApe (solo dev of Stardew Valley) and Team Cherry (small team behind Hollow Knight) and their lovely games and experiences, but I don't need to BE them anymore. I'm me, and I like being me.

Okay but what am I actually doing…?

Practically speaking, the plan is now as follows:

Publish ProtoDungeon 3 on Steam/Itch for $8.99, with a two-week launch discount of 15% (so, $7.64). I'd like this to be in Q1 of 2025, but I'm keeping things loosey goosey here

Publish PD1 and PD2 on Steam for $4.99 each, with the same builds as on Itch now (so they won't have Steam achievements). These might come before 3 is released, we'll see!

Continue with episodes 4 and 5, also on Steam/Itch--these will be significantly quicker to develop than 3, as they will be smaller and also will not require fundamental changes as 3 did. Pricing will probably be lower than for episode 3 and likely higher than episodes 1 and 2.

All of the above will be self-published!

Once those are complete, I will be working on The Waking Cloak, and it's here that I'm seriously considering looking into a publisher. I do want my games to be played by more people, and having professionals handle all the marketing and socials and console porting and other fine details would be such a burden off my shoulders. I've got my eye on a few in particular, but I'm putting more thought into this before I say anything else.

What about…?

Why are you working on ProtoDungeon and not The Waking Cloak? Trick question! (You didn't know you were asking a trick question, did you?) I say this a lot but it bears repeating: ProtoDungeon is helping me build up the mechanics and assets for The Waking Cloak, and is helping me get lots of practice with game design, as well as with art and publishing and so forth.

Will ProtoDungeon have spoilers for The Waking Cloak? Nope! The only spoilers will be purely mechanical, but I'm holding back a lot of puzzle concepts and a few mechanics for TWC itself. ProtoDungeon is a separate prequel story and has unique dungeons that will not show up in TWC.

What is ProtoDungeon DX? This will be the combination of all the ProtoDungeon episodes, with the early episodes rebuilt, and with additional content (like an overworld). I'm planning on working on this after The Waking Cloak. There will be some kind of discount based on your collection of individual ProtoDungeon episodes. I don't know how that works yet, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Whatever happens, I want to make sure it benefits y'all.

Why isn't ProtoDungeon free anymore? Simply put, because I think they're worth it. I've put a lot of time and effort and love into them. Also, I have a family to support, and this hobby is not free either! The episodes are short, yes, and that's why they'll cost less than a movie ticket.

Patreon? Development will be open and free as always, but patrons will get a first look (like with this post!) There are other goodies at higher tiers, too. And I should mention: funds go towards stuff like key art, publishing fees, and other minor operating costs. I was able to commission some wonderful art for ProtoDungeon: Episode III with y'all's support, but I've also bought some music tools (such as Chipsynth SFC), and I have a Studio Spacefarer P.O. box as an official address for legal reasons when publishing newsletters. I also am able to keep the main site, https://studiospacefarer.com, up with these funds. So, thank you!

To the future!

ProtoDungeon: Episode III has been a difficult beast to tame, partly because of fundamental changes to all the systems, but also because of where it fell in my life, amidst the pandemic and grief and changes and moving. It's become more important to me because of that, because it's a way to process everything. I had always known ProtoDungeon was about grief, but now it's much more personal.

I'm excited to work on things again. I look forward to sitting down and working out the details and adding the new ideas. I can't wait for y'all to experience it. Thank you for following along, and here's to future days!

Are either of your parents engaged but not married yet? No. My parents were married prior to having me and my sibling, but they're currently legally separated (not completely divorced). Neither one of them has any plans to re-marry in the future. They still get along for the most part, but they probably wouldn't see one another nearly as often if I wasn't in the mix. We meet up for lunch every few weeks and will see the occasional film in theaters. I also need to call my mom later to figure out where we're going to eat this Thursday.

Do you cuddle with your pet (if you have one)? Of course. Esther isn't a big fan of being held (she's very wiggly), but she will cuddle under the covers with me in bed or sit on my lap when I'm on the computer or something. Karenna is somewhere in the middle in terms of being held (doesn't always love it - doesn't always hate it); she will sit on my lap, and she likes to curl up behind my legs if I'm lying on my side or up by my chest/shoulder if I'm lying on my back. Lacy is the most okay with being held (you can basically hold her like a baby and she's very calm about it), but she's not particularly cuddly; she just likes to be close without being disturbed. She's also more bonded with my dad than with me, so she tends to sleep in his bed down by his legs.

What college did you want to attend as a kid? I didn't care. I knew it was more or less expected that I would attend, but as for a dream college, there was nothing like that. I ended up going to a local community college, but I never completed a degree.

Do you have a pet gecko? I don't.

Are you scared of reptiles? I'd be apprehensive if I had to deal with anything venomous, but in general, no. I really enjoyed taking care of all the reptiles when I worked at the pet shop.

About what things are you most selfish? Probably food, lmao. I can and will share, especially when there's an abundance, but there are times when I can be possessive and worried about having enough. Idk if it's an eating disorder thing or what.

What are three ways in which you are not normal? Hmm. I volunteer full time instead of applying for an actual job/paycheck (I have my reasons). I drink a loooot of water (thirstiest person alive, literally, I swear). I don't like road trips (aside from the hypothetical scenario I talked about above).

If you take care of the smallest detail in your fandom art, that's incredible. It's still free. Should be. Should remain. The comments and kudos and engagement are so, so great, but, and I don't know how to stress this enough,

YOU NEED TO ENJOY WHAT YOU ARE DOING WITHOUT THEM.

You need to be okay engaging in fandom without guaranteed feedback. Is it fair? No. Was fandom created by freaks, for freaks, who wanted to make things for each other anyway? Yes.

I 100% understand the people saying they are writing/creating for the passion and posting for the engagement, but ao3 has already changed so much that this isn't guaranteed anymore.

A lot of newer users think something's going to come out of their work... recognition, validation, opportunities, but anyone who got any level of "fame" are worse for wear: the moment your cringy (I say with love, fandom should be cringe, fandom must remain cringe, praise cringe) fandom work goes boom into the world and outside of the bubble of freaks it was meant for, it becomes content.

That content gets treated with the same terrifying detachment everything else online gets, and it's a nightmare.

I understand the (now deleted) comment comes from a place of frustration, but you're misunderstanding the point.

I am talking about the space, not about devaluing art or labor. I'm saying "this space where things can just exist for free should be protected," not "artists should never be paid."

Not everything online that requires labor should be monetized.

Ao3 (a platform for sharing should happen without forced monetization) is important and rare because it doesn't force anyone into the consumerist mindset. The only goal of ao3 is to share. That's it.

Artists absolutely deserve the choice to ask for compensation. Outside of fandom. Inside fandom? Nope (imo).

Fandom is supposed to be one of the last places where you can give something without it instantly being turned into a product or a target, and even this is dying.

But still, I fight for this stupid, amazing, NECESSARY website. Fans (whether you're makers or readers or lurkers) deserve spaces where they can enjoy and share without being trapped by algorithms and ads and money.

By the way, a lower number of engagement doesn't reflect the quality of the work.​ It depends on the fandom size, the subject matter, how dead your dove is, how alive the fandom is.

If your mindset is, "The truth is: the problem is not who wants to be paid for the work they do, because even the fan's work remains WORK, you worked on that work, you used your time, your skill, you spat blood etc… Nope, YOU are part of the problem, normalizing free work instead of normalizing a salary for artists", then as I so eloquently put it before, it's NOT FOR YOU. Go seek money elsewhere.

GO seek money ELSEWHERE. Go to Tiktok, Youtube, Instagram, Google ads, the REST OF THE FUCKING INTERNET IS THERE FOR YOU TO MAKE MONEY.

Leave my free ao3 and my thousands of hours of free written creation alone.

Fanfic is a free hobby.

It's one of the last few things we can have as a society that's free. You can engage, for free. People give you things (art, stories, etc), for free.

Don't buy into the consummerism just because it's everywhere else.

You don't have to consume everything you interact with. You don't have to use things, just because they exist.

You're allowed (still, for now), to have things that are enjoyable for free.

Do you realise how insane the world is? We don't have many places where we can just be, for free anymore, but ao3 is. Did you notice we don't have ads in ao3? We don't have pop ups? Where ELSE do we not have that?

Where else can you just go and not have to wait for a commercial to be over or for ads to be on the sidelines?

I don't think the younger people understand, but the whole of internet used to be like this. YouTubers would do Youtube for free, just because. You couldn't monetise your internet presence before.

Ao3 is like a little preserved corner of the internet where the old internet used to be, and it's being attacked by people who do not understand that free things are allowed to exist without judgment.

Please don't ruin this for us.

So as I just wrote a long post asking for recommendations on educational YT channels to add to my own emergency-scenario archive, allow me to give my own in return. It makes more sense to have a separate post than add onto the already quite long post I just made. I also encourage you to watch these channels if their subject matter catches your fancy, like their videos, and subscribe to their channels on your own Youtube accounts so you can support the content they create, for however long they are able to make it. Remember, the point of making these archives is not to steal their content. It's preserving it in case Tangerini McDiaperpants decides he wants to go North Korea-style information suppression on us, so adults and their children don't lose out on the education the fascists in power want to keep us away from.

For history, archaeology and social studies:

Mr. Beat: Mostly US history as far as I can tell.

The Cynical Historian: Largely, but not exclusively US history. He is as his name suggests, quite cynical, sarcastic and has a low opinion of pseudohistorical nonsense. Also, he hates Woodrow Wilson with a burning passion that would rival Uchiha Itachi's Amaterasu flames.

The Casual Historian: Seems to be more generalized. I haven't gotten into his stuff as much yet but I can tell he does the work.

The Histocrat: more generalized, has some mythology videos mixed in as well

Knowing Better: he covers whatever catches his fancy at the time, but everything he does cover, he covers in enough detail that most people wouldn't have the patience to watch an entire video of his in one go. At least, this is true of his later videos. Some earlier ones aren't as in-depth. But regardless, his work ethic and level of detail is incredible.

Ancient Americas: early indigenous American (North *and* South America) history

African American History Is American History: Pretty self-explanatory, I think

Atun-Shei Films: History and fictional analysis of whatever seems to strike his fancy at the time. He isn't a professional historian like a lot of the others on this list, but he really puts in the work to cite his sources *in-video* and in the descriptions, to the point that he's well-respected by many others on this list. He is also an independent film-maker and brings considerable production value to his videos. Btw, if you want a great series debunking and deconstructing the Lost Cause myth about the US Civil War, try his series Checkmate Lincolnites.

Brandon Fisichella: He specifically covers 18th century history, but not exclusively. Has a bit of a dry wit, and seems to be what you'd get if an American cosplayed a posh British man (Brandon if you see this, I mean this playfully. I respect your content greatly).

CGP Grey: More about social studies in general, regarding topics like currency, political systems, voting systems (like the differences between Ranked Choice, S.T.V. and First Past The Post), etc

Overly Sarcastic Productions: They concentrate on a combination of history, mythology and fictional analysis.

Indigenous History Now: Specifically about Indigenous American history.

History and Headlines: Generalized history made in generally short-form videos, sometimes as short as a minute or less. Taught by a college history professor.

History with Kayleigh: Covers mostly ancient history, pre-history, evolution, archaeological finds and ancient structures.

InRangeTV: This is a channel that simultaneously revolves around the usage and testing of firearms (all on patreon subscriber revenue, no ad-revenue whatsoever, big respect to him for that) but also talks about and tests historical firearms, and their usage in US history, mostly in relation to how it affected/affects marginalized groups. I'm very careful about what firearms channels I give my views, but as Karl is a staunch ally and consistent antifascist, he gets my recommendation to others without any reservations.

Kaz Rowe: General history, they've got a very relaxed and reserved humor to their videos. The videos themselves are usually around half an hour to an hour. They do have a slight focus on LGBTQIA+ history but this is not exclusively their concentration. They also discuss history related to works of fiction and the authors that wrote them.

Transhistory: Exclusively a channel dedicated to recording and preserving the oral histories of transgender people in the US, done in interview style. They no longer upload on YT but I figured I'd mention them here, as that's especially something this current administration will come after. I haven't watched their content yet but I trust that there is no deception involved.

Tasting History With Max Miller: This is a unique one, Max likes to not just teach you about history, but teach you how to make a historical dish while he explains that history. I have to admit, I like the approach, even if a lot of the dishes he makes aren't something my picky taste buds would enjoy.

World of Antiquity: Created, managed, scripted and recorded by historian Dr. David Miano, this is a channel that specializes in the history of ancient civilizations, cultures and peoples, as well as videos discussing recent archaeological finds. He does do a little bit of debunking of pseudohistory and pseudoarchaeology as well, but does it with much more respect than pseudohistorians and pseudoarchaeologists generally deserve imo. This is not a drag of his approach at all, his patience is admirable. And a trickle of his dry wit and humor does show through as well. Just a warning though, his content can be on the longer side, he's for people that want more in-depth explanations.

North 02: This channel deals in pre-history and archaeology, primarily regarding ancient humans and the animals they interacted with, as well as the conflicts that different species of humans likely got into. His delivery is calm and documentary-like, and he's even made a video or two *personally demonstrating* the usage and effectiveness of the weapons that ancient humans used in hunting and in war. It's brutal to see the damage a prehistoric war club can do to a ballistics gel head, by the way.

Miniminuteman: Run by archaeologist and environmental scientist Milo Rossi (dude's 10 years younger than I am and has achieved more than my cripple ass could achieve in a lifetime lmao.), his internet career started in debunking pseudoarchaeology in hilarious fashion, and while he still does so, he has branched out into talking about actual history and archaeology as well. His sense of humor and sense of style is incredible, by the way, and once in a while uses his platform to promote charities dedicated to causes he cares about. Give him a watch and join the googledebunker collective.

Archaeology with Flint Dibble: If you're someone that hates the show Ancient Apocalypse, Graham Hancock, and/or Joe Rogan and his podcast, then you know who Flint Dibble is. This is the absolute rockstar that debated Graham Hancock on his crackpot pseudoarchaeological theories on Joe Rogan's podcast and *kicked his fucking ass harder than a UFC fighter at one of the many matches Joe Rogan has commentated* without even being hostile. He's the professional archaeologist that became a modern day Cinderella Man (the classic boxing fans get that reference) simply by bringing the fucking facts to the table and calling out bullshit when he saw it. (OK enough glazing the man, you get the point, he's cool). His content is generally on the longer and more relaxed side and often has him interviewing and discussing historical and archaeological content with a wide variety of experts in their fields.

We Have Always Existed Transgender Ancient History: This is a channel specifically dedicated to spreading the word about transgender people in ancient times. Sophie, the curator, scriptwriter and face of this channel will bring you stories of transgender people from ancient times that you've never heard before. Because as they (can't find your pronouns on your channel, sorry Sophie and if you see this please correct me on them) point out in their videos, transgender people are older than all of Western Civilization. That's a fact, and no matter what the fascists do, transgender people will always exist. Transgender people existed before all of civilization and if our species or something evolved from us still exists by then, transgender people will continue to exist after society collapses.

Science education:

Gutsick Gibbon: A primatologist, phd candidate in biological anthropology, and all-around badass, Erika makes videos primarily about evolutionary biology, anthropology, paleontology, and A LOT of videos debunking Young Earth Creationism as well. To any left-wing religious people that read this, I want to make clear that she is not anti-religion. She's not going to bash your beliefs if you're a religious person that believes what science has revealed to us. But she is going to make fun of your cousin that believes everything was made in literally 6 days and that the earth is only 6,000 years old. *As she should*. She has a great sense of humor, which makes her long-form videos easy to listen to while doing other things, like gaming or cleaning.

Professor Dave Explains: Professor Dave is a guy that talks about a wide-range of subjects, and has a long history of absolutely brutal takedowns of pseudoscientists and other quacks.

My personal opinion of some of his views is mixed (and I intend to touch on at least one thing I disagree with him on vehemently in a separate post), but there's no denying that he has an incredible talent for ripping apart pseudoscientific bullshit and mercilessly mocking the people that peddle it.

Kyle Hill/Because Science: Kyle Hill is a science communicator and engineer, known for his work on the Because Science channel and on his own channel. Because Science generally seems to be more about the science or lack thereof in fiction such as Marvel in Star Wars, though admittedly I haven't seen much of that channel as of yet. As for his own channel, he primarily discusses nuclear science and the history of nuclear power and nuclear weapons, as well as nuclear accidents and disasters, but this isn't *exclusively* what he discusses in his content.

Creation Myths: This is a science channel dedicated exclusively to dismantling creationist arguments.

More niche subjects: Caitlin Doughty (formerly known as Ask A Mortician): This is a channel run by a former mortician and funeral home director, who talks about death and deathcare throughout history and within various cultures. She often talks about certain things that happen in the process of decomposition, as well as stories of famous corpses, deaths, stories of funeral homes and autopsies gone wrong, and stories of mass death and how the communites that went through it dealt with it. She also makes a point to get people to feel more comfortable with the subject of death and deathcare in general, as well as advocating for more environmentally friendly ways of dealing with your loved ones' bodies after they pass, as well as educating her viewers on their rights and how to have them protected in regards to how their own body will be treated when they pass. She's the reason I want my body to be composted when I die, if I even get the choice in this fascist hellhole.

Hi! I keep seeing stuff being posted on tumblr by you and a few people I follow about d&d and I really wanna get into it cause I wanna understand and see and support their content but I have no idea how or where to start at all. Do you have any suggestions for beginners? It looks so fun but a bit intimidating cause I have no idea what it is

First of: thank you for your curiosity. All great hobbies start with that as far as I know.

I also need to make a disclaimer here: I'm no expert on D&D...I've played about 6 years now but am not that much involved in the surrounding community.

When that's been said:

D&D is a lovely TTRPG (Table Top Role Playing Game) that you can enjoy with friends and even strangers. It allows you to explore awesome fantasy worlds with all it entails. I love it.

I've been fortunate enough to be "dragged" into it by my sister and since then played steadily with that group of real life friends - which also created a splinter group (that's the one we follow in the campaign I'm writing about). In other words: I've never had to search for a group to play with.

BUT! Depending on where you live, there might be a local game store you can go to: they will most likely either run game nights or know people you can get it touch with and start playing. If that fails, then there's always the option to search online for local groups and/or online groups.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.

What is a game like? How does it work?

There are a lot of games being streamed online (on Twitch, youtube etc). At the moment the most (in)famous group is no doubt Critical Role who's on their third campaign (I'd recommend starting at campaign 2 tbh) but there are other groups too like Girls who don't D&D which is a great introduction to the mechanics behind the game.

And speaking of mechanics...what do you need to play?

You need a set of dice even though you can probably roll online: a 20 sided die (called a d20), a 12 sided die (d12), two different 10 sided dice (d10 and d100), and 8 sided, a 6 sided, and a 4 sided (respective d8, d6, d4). You're also going to need the basic rules. D&D has just introduced the new rule system (which I still don't use because I'm midcampaign and it'd be a mess to change now....and we're stubborn) but there are other systems too like Pathfinder etc. For ease, let's stick to D&D as you asked about that. They have a Player's Handbook which gives you the easy introduction to everything including how to create a character. Just the basics. It's good. Then what more? YOu can choose to use D&DBeyond for character sheets etc - it makes it easier. But really you can do all that on a piece of paper too (there are many templates available).

Now what more do I need to say? I've probably forgotten a lot, so keep asking if you want.

I hope you'll find a nice group. D&D really is a lifesaver for me - it's great escapism and a good time with fellow nerds whom I care about.

So: find some nerds, they ought to love introducing you because the more the merrier!
