Recent Chapter 459 analysis (kinda)

Okay excuse me if im wrong but—in the recent chapter aren’t HT and MGS engaged???

I read a few short analysis about them on here and they had me thinking for a while trying to connect some dots to something.

So I’m not sure how much time has passed since the engagement. Like it could be spring or maybe summer.

Now im wondering why hasn’t HT let Mo move in with him? Since he’s clearly well off, has a successful business, lots of money, etc etc. and he can easily get both of them a penthouses or somewhere nice to live together.

—And out of all things he could’ve got him; he got him a bed. I’m not saying that’s not a good thing (because Mo deserves it) but like, personally if I was rich and saw my fiancé living in a small garage that’s not really in the best conditions i would do my best to get him out of there at least.

So to be honest if Mo were that kinda person to be a little pissed at that I definitely don’t blame him. But it does make me wonder…

Now my main guesses are—

1. MGS and HT must’ve had the “come live with me” conversation already and maybe Mo isn’t ready yet or maybe he wants to earn or work for a nicer place to live. Due to him being so stubborn about taking things that are given to him. (One example is when Jian Yi tried to give him that whole bag of money and Mo turned it down.)

2. We don’t really know HT’s living situation in the future chapters so I can’t necessarily say that “oh he has a place to live why can’t he let mo stay with him.” But i doubt he’s sleeping in his car or something like that. So my guess on that would be maybe he’s staying at a hotel until he gets a place for him and Momo (?)

So for my comfort I’m gonna assume He Tian is currently staying at a hotel, maybe waiting for the right time to get him and Mo a nice place to stay. So for the time being he gets him a bigger and comfier bed because he’s either spoiling Mo or he’s either planning to stay with him.

It’s been a few minutes so now that I put some thought to it I am predicting that he is gonna stay with him, because like I said; it’s not mentioned or shown what HT’s living status is at the moment. So by telling Mo he’s gonna be staying with him he gets him a bigger bed and says “Now we can roll around on it.”

When Jayce loses it before shooting Viktor, he keeps saying "I won't fail" as if it's something he knows he has to do and like it's something he's failed to do time and time again, but it's unclear who he is saying it to. We can clearly see that his mind is fragmented, and we have no clue what he went through. But clearly, the one thing he knows he has to do is destroy the hexcore...

Which is exactly what he promised Viktor he'd do.

Viktor is intertwined with the Arcane and Jayce has now had his own horrific experience with it. What if in the midst of whatever the fuck happened to him, he kept reliving every moment with Viktor, or even encountered some kind of multiverse/alternate version of Viktor who kept asking him to destroy the hexcore?

What if he's talking to Viktor? What if he's telling Viktor he won't fail....not again....

these aerial shots of the streets in the scene where anthy was about to jump off a building in episode 37 remind me of a network of blood capillaries gradually flowing with some foreign substance (the way the red lines were drawn certainly resembles some liquid substance). the camera panned towards anthy from the 1st to 4th picture, and the streets gradually turned from pure white to white with some red.

before the suicide scene, utena and anthy were enjoying tea and cookies at akio's place, and they were wearing their school uniforms. anthy indirectly hinted at "poisoning" the cookies. in response, utena directly stated that she had "poisoned" anthy's tea. both accepted the poison into their systems (bodies) without any hesitation or qualms. noticeably, in this scene, utena didn't wear the rose crest ring that she took off at the beginning of the episode. i'd like to think of the streets gradually turning from white to flowing with red liquid as the visualisation of the poison they consumed in this scene gradually circulating in the system (via blood vessels and capillaries); thus, these points represented utena and anthy's bond/relationship with each other up until before the suicide attempt (white) and after (flowing with red).

up to at least the moment utena found out about anthy and akio at the end of episode 36, utena and anthy hadn't been honest with each other, despite utena saying to anthy that she could come to her if anthy had any problems, and that they can help each other through anything (episode 25). from the point akio began making bold moves in grooming utena (episode 30 onwards), which led to sexual assaults and rape, utena had started to keep things out of anthy's knowledge/unable to tell certain things to anthy.

a prominent example of this would be the scene in episode 36 where anthy asked about utena's whereabouts the night utena went to the dueling arena with touga. other examples are in episodes 30 and 35. anthy, on the other hand, hadn't been honest with utena from the very beginning. from my understanding, from both sides, the dishonesty with each other came from the dire need to preserve the sanctity/purity of their bond (and the despairing inability to open up about respective sufferings). both utena and anthy didn't wish to taint their bond with their ugly stories of truths. the situation was more adverse for anthy because letting utena know the truth could derail all of akio's plans.

(note the network of streets) with regard to the series, colour theories were ever-present in every visual aspect. white was equated to purity and innocence; red was synonymous with violence and danger. i think these meanings suited the visuals of the post-suicide attempt scene, the purity of their bond was incrementally coloured with violent truths from one another. moreover, i also think the post-suicide attempt scene further reified the cantarella scene. in other words, the post-suicide attempt scene was the more literal take/depiction/iteration of the cantarella scene (if that makes sense), with the visuals of the white streets flowing with red as the connecting factor between the two scenes.

the final visual of the "poisoned streets" before anthy urged utena to leave the school. the poison was freely and fully flowing through every street. throughout the suicide scene, utena and anthy were both in their sleepwear. this may connote a more vulnerable and honest disposition without any facade, as well as a better understanding and more equal footing with one another, compared to when they were in school uniforms during the cantarella scene. utena was also wearing her ring here, which may highlight her choice to play the role of a prince for anthy's sake to the end.

in addition, i think the streets flowing with poison could also be seen as a network of empty/dried blood capillaries finally flowing with blood; akin to a dead body coming back to life. after a person dies, the first visible change would be pallor mortis (within 15 to 20 minutes), wherein the body begins to pale because blood stops moving through the capillaries. with regard to this information, the visuals may indicate a sign of rejuvenation of the bond between utena and anthy after opening up to one another. the bond between them became more human, alive (flowing with blood), as opposed to being hollow (dried out blood capillaries; like death). to me, i believe both interpretations could work simultaneously for the visuals of the streets.

I have a lot of conflicting thoughts on Aaravos's backstory, but you know what DOES get me?

It's the fact that Aaravos is the only Startouch elf who allows humans to see him on record. It's the fact that Leola wasn't even remembered, nor she's an important figure in human history, unlike Ziard or so.

It's the fact that if Aaravos spent 100 years crying, by the time he stopped, whoever might have known his daughter was gone and he had no one to grieve with. It's the fact that if she's not remembered, he didn't even find someone who'd care for the story, not outside the fact that she was a being of the heavens.

It's the fact that if she's mentioned as a unicorn alone, I wonder how much of what Aaravos shared with whoever wrote down the information was actually listened to. It's the fact that, if Startouch elves are so apathetic and detached and so much more complex than any living thing on Xadia, to fathom how a God such as him could have humane feelings might have been impossible for whoever he talked to next.

It's the fact that to be worshipped isn't the same as being loved.

It's the fact that for thousands of years he alone grieved the little girl she was, and no one ever sympathized with him as the broken-hearted father he is.

I didn't think I'd be posting this one. I feel that, out of everything I've ever drawn, this is the most personal project I've done.

I know it's fanart. But, this is how I see them. This is how I feel. And this is how I want to keep feeling about them.

This is my first (and probably last) time using chalk. There's such a freedom to it, I feel I couldn't have captured this better.

I did this 3 hours after watching the finale.

And yet, I think it's the one piece I'll cherish most in the future.

I wanna ask, what do you mean when a character is a fake *insert colour*? Like you said wandee is a fake blue. What does that mean? And also, according to that logic, he's wearing that blue during that first kiss and I dunno how to feel about that...

@cryingoverweiying, what I mean when I state a character has a "fake color" is that I'm crazy, and I'm quickly losing my mind over fictional characters. But to give you some examples before I get into Wandee's fake blue, I will offer Vegas from KinnPorsche and Jae Young from Semantic Error.

Vegas looks green. He pretends to be a chill dude who is easy going and down-to-earth in front of the main family's bodyguards. Jae Young looks red. He pretends to be an aggressive rascal so he can work Sang Woo's nerves. But we know those are LIES!

Vegas is actually a red devil who has an affinity for torturing people, and Jae Young is really a chill green dude which is why he wasn't showing up for class in the first place. This is why I call their initial colors fake.

I've written a little bit about this in regards to characters changing their colors throughout a series.

So when I write that I believe Dee's blue is a fake color, I mean that I don't think it represents him as a character, and that Dee is pretending to be blue.

Blue Boys are calm, loyal, and passive aka all the things Dee was to Ter for eight years while being in love with him.

But I think Dee was faking it for love. I think the colors are telling us that Dee is actually a Purple Prince who is immature and emotional,

but also encouraging and compassionate.

Because the day after being rejected by Ter and sleeping with Yak, Dee showed up to work in purple.

And he just keeps getting more purple. Purpler? No that's not a word. You understand me though!

But it only happens the more he spends time with Yak.

Since Yak seems to have unleashed Dee's true nature of being childish and arrogant, which are things he never allowed Ter to see.

All these traits would seem negative (emotional, immature, arrogant, childish), but once again, this is only part of who Dee is, and he never actually showed that to the man he was in love with, for eight years! He hid parts of himself behind this fake blue to impress Ter, but with Yak, he can just be himself.

And it's because Yak was his yellow egotistical and energetic self around Dee from the start.

So his openness is contagious.

But this has caused a problem because I don't think Dee is the only one faking a color anymore in this fake relationship.

I wrote before that as much as Yak was picking up Ohm's style to impress Taem, Dee was actually the one to pick out the outfits and the color aligns with Dee's first love.

Brown Boys are wise, stable, and predictable. In fact, they are like the more solid version of Blue Boys.

So it makes sense for a Blue Boy to be with a Brown Boy.

They'd be super stable. They'd be totally truthful. They'd be really reliable. They'd be perfectly predictable. But does that sound like these two?

NO! THEY ARE CHAOTIC LYING TRASH PANDAS!

So I am praying that we see these two not only embrace their true colors once again like Vegas and Jae Young, but for them to embrace the other's color as well, and the only way to do that is through a good old fashion color exchange.

I don't want to see Yak in this fake ass blue or Dee in this light yellow or brown.

I want Yak in purple and Dee in bright yellow because even though I already know it's love since the pink keeps showing up,

I need the colors to tell me there's nothing fake about them or the love they have for each other.

You know what we didn't see? If Crowley and the Metatron made eye contact outside of the book shop.

I mean, for all we know, Crowley was ready to peel outta there. He was feeling the sting of rejection. But... Maybe as he walked to his car, the Metatron began to make his way to the shop. Maybe he walked as close as possible to be noticed by, but not actually run into, Crowley. Maybe Crowley spotted a look on the Metatron's face.

A smile? A smug even? A proud "ha-ha, I win, you lose" look? Perhaps just a look the Metatron was not attempting to hide that gave Crowley a chill down his spine?

And maybe that's why Crowley didn't leave. Maybe that's when it clicked for Crowley. That maybe, things aren't the way they seem.

I feel like buck and Tommy are gonna be stronger than ever by the finale, yes I know there's still a possibility that it won't carry onto season 8 but with Eddie seemingly going to be isolated from his closest friends and I don't think Buck will take the cheating news well because it will blow up in Eddie's face. I think he will be going to Tommy even more for the support he would've gotten from eddie and Tommy will be there to help him possibly trust eddie again and help bucks friendship with eddie return.

I do not think season 7 will end with any hints towards buddie. I don't see it as a possibility. Eddie will most likely be working through the grief and realisation that Shannon can not be replicated or replaced. That to me will not lead to a gay eddie arc anytime soon.

I haven't watch the show so idk if this works but maybe if hotd chose the furthest point in the timeline from S1 as their main storyline and everything else was explained via flashbacks that may have helped

My friend and I were talking about this just the other day!

I think the show should have gone for a non-chronological time line. I think that since they had such a great two-ages cast for season 1 anyway they should have committed to it. Have the Dance of the Dragons just about starting in timeline 1 (the plot) and have relevant scenes from the "past" timeline provide context and nuance to the episode's arc.

The current chronological approach is the more "history book" style but I think a lot of watchers have picked up on the amount of time the show simultaneously "wastes" and skips over. We don't have enough buildup in a lot of semi-minor characters (ex: Laena and Hardwin are barely on screen long enough for the characters to exposit "I'm married to/in love with x" before dying to further Rhaenyra and Daemon's relationship), and we have too much time trying to scotch-tape the handful of key scenes together. (Lots of Season 2 being the "will they, won't they" instead of being the Dance.)

I also think there's a lot of lost nuance. Where the premise and marketing promised a complicated queen vs queen bloodbath... we are somehow back at the Cinderella premise. The evil stepmother wants innocent Rhaenyra dead. And that bores me because Alicent I would say isn't developed as a villain or a victim. Where the history book has multiple unreliable narrators, the show presents itself as a chronological "canon" history... while also changing major details like the number of children the characters have? I'm confused about the directions they have taken. The costumes for season 2 on the other hand are possibly some of the best costuming across the GoT/HotD. (Win some, lose some I suppose)

An example my friend came up with was for the 'Blood and Cheese' conflict: have the audience be unsure if Rhaenyra sent them or not. In the book it's only speculation, so why not have the "present" conflict cut into with the (season 1) scenes of younger Rhaenyra lying to Alicent/betraying her trust. Why is team Green sure Rhaenyra didn't do it? Where is the hope for audience intelligence? Interpretation? Not a wink of it.

I'm not good at writing out my thoughts, but hopefully you can see what I'm trying to get at....

Vincent staying with the Clan would have made for a more interesting storyline I fear
