Something I'm happy seeing from some of the pictures released from Wicked Part 1 and 2 is that Dorothy has the original silver colored shoes that were in the book.

💚🩷Dancing through life! Down at the Ozdust! If only because dust is what we come tooo! Nothing matters but knowing nothing matters it's just LIFE so keep dancing through!!!💚🩷
I SAW THE WICKED MOVIE!! (part 1 lol)
Oh my god that was so good!! It was so wonderful and fun and fantabulously fabulous and thrillifying in all of it’s Oziness!! And Ariana and Cynthia were PERFECT! And Jonathan Bailey was PERFECT (and Swoon-worthy lol)! They're perfect together! Born to be forever-(Dancing Through Life has been stuck in my head since we left the theater lol) and and and it was so GOOD!!
I went with my sister (she bought the tickets lol), and we actually spent the afternoon at the mall since that's where the AMC was! So I also got some rings & bracelets from Miss A! And the bracelet's packaging had my name on them so of course I had to get them! Lol (Obviously I wouldn't have gotten them if I didn't like them though lol)
And we looked at all the Wicked merch in all the stores, but we didn't get anything, and then we got to the theater and they scanned our tickets (on her phone) and they gave us Wicked Lego! Lol. We didn't get the collectible Wicked buckets or cups, but we did get the regular large popcorn bc it's got the Wicked branding on it. Lol (We also got ICEEs, but I don't have a picture of them lol. Also our straws broke towards the end of the movie lol)
But, it was so so good! Blew all of my expectations and reservations out of the water!!
Gratitutions to my sister making for this happen it was so fun!
I can't wait for part 2!!! 💚🩷

Got to see an early viewing of Wicked, and after both reading the novel years ago as well as seeing the stage play... FLAWLESS Defying Gravity took my breath away, in particular. Such a spectacle. Cynthia is something else....singing and acting LIKE THAT, live-for-the-camera, while flying around in stunt wires. And very emotional, I was sobbing. Also,

I did not realize prior to looking up evolution of the slippers that they were silver. Slippers look fancy by the way.

(I will say I'm not looking forward to the fandom #discourse about fiyero/glinda and/or fiyero/elpheba being comphet. no actually they are all bi4bi, just like L. Frank Baum intended.)

Since I recently answered some asks from @paexgo-rosa about Elphaba and Glinda's costumes in Wicked, one aspect of the Wicked movie trailer stands out to me. It's that apparently, the movie is using pink as Glinda's signature color, as it was in The Wizard of Oz, while in the stage version she only briefly wears pink in Act I and more often wears pale blues and whites. In fact I've learned that originally, Wicked-Glinda was never meant to wear pink at all: in the show's original San Francisco tryouts, her "Popular" dress was blue, and it was only later changed to pink. Yet the movie seems to have Ariana Grande wearing pink constantly.
I'm not into the Wicked fandom, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's backlash already. I'll bet they're saying that a mostly pink wardrobe is too cliché for Glinda, and that her predominant pale blues and whites in the stage version are a much better, more creative choice. I wouldn't be surprised if among some parts of the fandom, it's "Hermione wearing pink to the Yule Ball instead of periwinkle blue" all over again.
I understand feeling that way. I do slightly admire the fact that the stage version of Wicked avoids the obvious choice of dressing Glinda in an onslaught of pink. Especially because she wears white in the original Oz books; it was only the classic 1939 movie that dressed her in pink instead.
But personally? I don't mind the change that much. We all associate Glinda with the color pink. Everyone who grew up watching The Wizard of Oz associates her with pink. And if Wicked-Glinda wears pink all the time, then her iconic line to Elphaba in the "Popular" scene, "Pink goes good with green!" will all the more clearly mean "You and I go well together."
That said, I can't help but agree with the comments that the layered skirt on the new movie's "bubble dress" looks like sliced ham. Recent fantasy movies seem to have a problem with making fabric layers on lavish skirts look like food: first there were the "cheese slices" on Emma Watson's Belle gown, and now this.

wicked part 1 - a love letter ----- 👸🏼🧙🏻‍♀️🧹🐒❇️
if you've been following me for a while now, you'll know that i love musicals; not for clout, not for bragging rights, but i genuinely and passionately love musicals and theatre and cinema and music and movies that makes you feel alive - so when two of those things come together, its nothing short of magical
i actually dont remember how i discovered wicked now that im thinking about it but all i know is that ive been a fan of the musical since i was still pretty young. from witnessing the magic of the musical itself being performed on stage, to even hearing the songs from the musical being performed on glee, and from every car ride with my brother where we would belt out the entire score, its safe to say that wicked truly does have a special place in my heart. so when i, along with everyone else in the world, found out that a movie was being made that was sticking to the original plot and songs from the musical, i was ecstatic.
fast forward to yesterday when i finally got to see it in the cinemas, i was so happy. plain and simple; yes i cried at some points, was even shocked at that one part (obviously without spoiling you guys), but as i recall what i felt about the movie, all i can muster up is that im genuinely very happy with it.
jon chu did such an amazing job with not only sticking to the plot and obviously not straying away from the original score, but for some reason and i think maybe he's the actual wizard - he made it even more magical than it already was on stage.
and don't even get me started on the casting - (im getting emotional as im typing this down) cynthia is the perfect elphaba; whenever she cried, i cried; ariana is hands down the most amazing glinda EVER - i dont even know the proper english term for how i can describe her pero sobrang ligalig niya which is by far the most perfect depiction of glinda's character but when it came to being serious, she delivered; jonathan bailey?! goddamn. his smolder? his aura? his dance moves? his singing? as someone who's only ever been aware of his work thanks to bridgerton, this was the most refreshing surprise ever.
and not to make this any longer than it already is - the movie was just perfect. if you think its a bit too long, its the same thing if you watch the actual musical which makes me now realize im glad they split it into two parts cause then my butt wouldve been numb the moment the movie ended. from the cinematography, to the art, to the not-so-little easter eggs, to the casting, and ofcourse to staying true to what the musical makes you feel - its just one of the best musical movie adaptations ive seen in a really really long time.

I got to go to an early screening of Wicked last night and HOLY CRAP! IT EXCEEDWD MY EXPECTATIONS! and im a die hard for Wicked and was going into it expecting to be disappointed but wow!
FINALLY a movie musical that catered to the stage version and stage fans and truly honored every part and didnt cut anything to appeal to the masses!👏and finally a musical that wasnt afraid to be a damn musical!!!! as a die hard Wicked fan who has seen the musical 13 times, THIS WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN I THOUGHT THEY WOULD DO AND IS PRETTY MUCH NEAR PERFECT! I have like 5 teeny tiny things I didn't love/have gripe with, BUT MY GOSH I DID NOT EXPECT THEM TO NAIL IT THAT MUCH! Like pretty much every single line in the musical is in the movie, you rarely ever see that, like i knew 90% of the lines before they were gonna say them, they didn't cut ANYTHING out, also something you never see in movie musicals, which is why it HAD to be in 2 parts, that was the best decision they could have made because they kept EVERYTHING! And they honestly didn't add that much either, what they did really added to it. And opps this was suppose to be short but I'm just floored. Even Arianna pleasantly surprised me, and I was REAL sus orginally about that casting. I could keep going and may write a longer one later, but wow, absolutely incredible. Worth the 15 year wait!

That pink dress is actually gorgeous, but the stupid poster took out so much of the detail, and now we have people joking about a ham dress.
