Sims - get to know me
I was tagged by @druidberries & @m0n0lithical! Thank yall for the tags!
I rarely actually play the game so take my answers with a grain of salt but this should be fun!
1. What’s your favourite sims death? Cowplant, hands down
2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? For the longest time I was strictly Maxis Match but recently I've been way more Maxis Mix and I'm loving it
3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Nah I let it happen!
4. Do you use move objects? Religiously, I cannot build without it. Routing be damned!
5. Favorite mod? BBB, I cannot play this game without it. I also get ornery if I don't have UI cheats extension and more CAS columns.
6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? I was on the Sims 4 bandwagon from day 1, so Outdoor Retreat.
7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? Living. You've got build, buy, and live, at least that's how my brain rationalizes it.
8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? I'm obsessed with all of my rpg oc sims (Ariss, Katya, Nat, Kai, Calista, etc), but probably my favorite sim-sim, well that's hard too. I really love my Simeon Silversweater makeover, and Rhiannon Reinhardt is prob my fave original sim.
9. Have you made a simself? I have! I've made myself, my husband and our dog (: One day I'll have to render them and post pics, I'm sure they all need an update now.
10. What sim traits do you give yourself? Clumsy, creative, & paranoid lmao
11. Which is your favorite EA hair color? Idk prob black or dark brown, so many of the other swatches look unnatural to me. I like the fun colors though, esp the lighter blue/cyan-y swatch.
12. Favorite EA hair? In terms of design, I really liked the braids that came with RoM and the really cool swatches, but I rarely ever use that hair.
13. Favorite life stage? YA cause it's the only one with adequate gameplay oops lmfao
14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? BUILDER I rarely play the game at all but if I am I'm probably building. It seems every time I actually get into gameplay (which is rare in itself) something (a patch) comes along and breaks everything to the point where I can't anymore and I lose love for it all over again.
15. Are you a CC creator? I am! But only barely haha. I've made a few recolors and some art, but nothing from scratch YET. Soon hopefully
16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? I do! I'm a moderator of @cozyacres's Cozy Cave discord server and I LOVE out little community there! I've also got so many wonderful mutuals here I love you all so much.
17. What’s your favorite game? Sims 3 was fantastic and if I remembered more of it I'd probably say 3, but I got really invested in the community for 4 and it does hold a special place in my heart even if it's deeply flawed. So, 4.
18. Do you have any sims merch? I do not.
19. Do you have a YouTube for sims? I have an account but I haven't posted anything yet! I'd like to one day post speed builds and speed renders, I just need to figure out my recording process (I tab out of what I'm doing so often that I feel like the editing would take a million years for me to remove all of my discord chats lmfao)
20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? I feel like my actual sims style hasn't changed too much, except that I've incorporated a lot more maxis mix/alpha into my style, but that's mostly for rendering and not actual gameplay.

22. Who’s your favorite CC creator? This is an impossible question to answer. I love so many for gameplay vs render resources.
23. How long have you had a simblr? I just legit checked cause I wasn't sure and it turns out I've been shitposting since 2019! Who knew!? lmao
24. How do you edit your pictures? I'm lucky enough to mooch off my dad's photoshop license. For renders and screenshots alike, I'll edit the brightness, contrast, levels and curves and then use a collection of PS actions/tweaking/blur/vignettes etc as necessary to get the effect I want.
25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? It's really hard to say... I've been excited for each one of them then disappointed in each one of them lmfao what a mood. I gotta say I was really pleasantly surprised by Werewolves, and HSY exceeded my expectations, even though both had their fair share of disappointments. I don't think I really have a favorite overall though (which is def a side effect of... not actually playing the game, lmao). But those two actually got me playing the game and that's saying something.
26. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? Oops I own them all so, whatever comes next that strikes my fancy. Idk how I feel about the horse rumors though... we'll see if it's actually good or just another disappointment.

Disclaimer: Hyrule Historia is horseshit and I will never acknowledge it as “canonical.” Fanon Copouts and Hylian Propaganda and a source for unused ideas at best. Don’t bother mentioning it because I am deliberately ignoring it in favor of information I can take from playing the finished games and doing my own extrapolation from there.
Theory: the Rito in Windwaker are not actually evolved from the Zora, but actually commonly intermarry with other races.

This is Kobali.
His figurine reads as:

Kobali is the third generation in a family of postmen, but rumor has it that an ancestor of his in an age gone by was also a postman…”
Which, okay. Postman Reference from OoT/MM is obvious. BUT, this guy also canonically has some hylian ancestry, since his figurine’s blurb felt the need to include both his birthplace (a human/hylian settlement) as well as that “three generations of postmen from a family of postmen” when…the Great Sea’s cast system basically regulates the Rito to “postmen ONLY!!” outside of their home mountain.
But! What other race in the Zelda Franchise also:
-has a Role for passing on messages + guardians
-have a connection to the gods that’s more intimate than the Hylian bullshit about their ears “making them closest to the gods to hear their messages” (but as a culture are largely privileged, agnostic, and superstitious)
-are second-class to hylians in Hyrule’s Cast System
-have White Hair, Dark Skin, and Red Eyes
That’s right, the Sheikah.
Dragonroost is also incredibly close by geographically speaking to Windfall Island (which is basically just a rebuilt Kakariko Village), which, so was Death Mountain to Old Kakariko (which as a reoccuring settlement in the series, Kakariko often changes location BUT even in its first appearance in LttP could be argued to still be more-or-less at the base of Death Mountain verses, say, near Lake Hylia). Which as-of OoT Impa was left with a decimated tribe, an empty village, and implications of inducting the Hylian villagers and Castle Town refugees into her village as adopted Sheikah (not just Zelda as Sheik.)
So Windfall is more than likely the result of Impa trying to rebuild her tribe…but with mixed results. Some characters seem to be Culturally Sheikah hiding in plain sight like Miss Marie (see Zeltik’s video about her for more details), but by and large the culture of Windfall (and Outset) is overwelmingly Hylian.
HOWEVER! If the Rito are any indication, Impa was at least successful in rebuilding her bloodline, who then continued to intermarry. Only the gods basically screwed the Rito’s Ancestors into being flightless while also dehumanizing them…so Valoo had compassion on them and gifted them scales for wings. (Note how every Rito adolescent is not born with wings, but still have beaks in place of more humanid features like noses and mouths.)
Sidenote: but this also explains the Goron Merchants wearing sacks over their heads and being nowhere near either Windfall or Dragonroost—Volvogia has subtext implications of being OoT’s Absent Fire Spirit (again, check Zeltik for further details). Basically the Gorons attempted murder on Volvogia when they first invaded settled Death Mountain generations ago. (The Gorons in SS also do not live in Eldin.) Ganondorf then revives the dragon and imprisons the Gorons for Volvogia to deal with as the dragon wishes. So…yeah. By the time of WW the Gorons have moved onto the Ocean King’s world and what would later become New Hyrule under Tetra’s leadership. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say Valoo has a grudge against Gorons.
Now. What does this have to do with Medli?
-we know Rito have a history of intermarriage
-we know Medli is not “full rito” as evidenced by her being the only Rito with Red Hair (styled the same as the Din Idol as well as the Gerudo) and much paler skin
And by the Timeskip in OoT? The Zora are basically extinct, save for Ruto with Link only able to revive the Zora Shop Owner and King Zora; no Zora aside from King Zora are present in the epilogue seen in the game’s credits, while all other races are, including the Kokiri who would allegedly “die” if they left their patch of Forest.
So…despite Ruto’s hope, the Zora within the cave’s pool all froze to death in the absence of JabuJabu’s magic keeping the place thawed and therefore habitable—clense the Water Temple and Lake Hylia’s levels return to normal. Subtext is that Lake Hylia drying up =/= the same cause as the Zora’s decimation, despite the close proximity of events.
Which preTimeskip JabuJabu is literally a whale fed a single fish a day and kept in a fishbowl it can’t even turn around in. No wonder JabuJabu got so ill, ate two children, then later died. Classic case of neglect. Now if I had to guess? “Sea” Zora in the Oracle Games isn’t a misnomer—the same design is also used for MM Zora who actually do live in salt water. So, the Zora in OoT are the descendants of Zora who migrated from the sea to Zora’s Domain and used a baby JabuJabu’s magic to keep their mountain spring habitable. (And they do specifically live in the mountains in OoT and TP. Zora’s Domain is Hyrule’s major water source, set in the mountains (in TP it’s at the base of Snowpeak), and rivers begin either from snowmelt runoff and/or an underwater spring. Zora’s Domain is both, especially with how easily it refreezes.
So, after OoT? The handful of surviving Zora settled either in Kakariko or on the shores of Lake Hylia—Zora’s Domain was no longer habitable but Hyrule was still their home. Eventually either Ruto (if allowed to return to her previous life after a time) or the Item Merchant intermarried with one of Impa’s Descendants eventually resulting in the sage Laruto. Add in a few Gerudo and you get Medli—primary Rito genes, but obvious Gerudo (hair) and Zora (skin) genes surfacing after generations as well.
…that, and the Earth Temple is basically thematically similar to the Shadow Temple with Gerudo Elements as well (like the Light Puzzles.) If the designs were going off of Obvious Designs, by all rights the Rito should’ve been associated with Wind as avians and the Koroks with Earth as literal tree people.
Except…
The Koroks not only gave Link the Deku Leaf (which was then used in wind puzzles and for harnessing wind), the Kokiri are also thematically associated with Wind, as is Fayore (and like the Zora, the Koroks and Kokiri used their patron goddess’s symbol as theirs as well.) Meanwhile the Rito live with a volcano (earth&fire), are under the protection of a dragon (fire spirit), and have connections to the Sheikah (shadow, necromancy) and Gerudo (while OoT technically has a “light” sage, it’s actually the Spirit Temple that uses Light at all), with the Rito also having a history of intermarriage in the Great Sea Era (Kobali), with races like the Gerudo and arguably the very few surviving Sheikah and Zora as well. (There are absolutely No Water Themes in the Earth Temple. The closest we get to water as an active mechanic is the first floor of the Tower of the Gods…which is otherwise Very Sheikah from the second story onward. But, arguably that first floor was Zora-Influenced, possibly by Laruto herself.)
TL;DR:
So. The Rito are descended from the Sheikah, the Sheikah were rebuilt by Impa using Zora Survivors and Hylian Refugees (with mixed results), eventually in the (Sheikah-Gerudo) Earth Temple with a (Sheikah)Zora Sage. Then several more generations later…Medli.

Sims 4 Legacy Challenge ROYAL EDITION
Adapted from “The Legacy Challenge Lite”
Welcome to the Sims 4 Legacy Challenge - Royal Edition!
I could never seem to find a challenge that I could use to play out a Royal-themed challenge to my liking. The original Legacy Challenge provided the best guidelines with enough restrictions to make it challenging, not so many that it was overly complicated, and enough relevance that it could be adapted for Royalty.
There are actually two versions of this challenge. I decided to use the “Lite” version, as I was not interested in Scoring (but the link to that, if that’s something that interests you, is below.)
The rules of the original Sims 4 Legacy Challenge Lite follow after the Royal Perks I’ve added to this challenge. I’ve struck out anything I felt like didn’t add to the challenge or made it hard to keep Royal-themed.

Now, the fun part…
Royal Perks
Your founders may begin their lives in a palace as elaborate as you wish! Create the Royal home of your dreams - no budget is necessary! You may only use ‘motherlode’ while building your palace; once the challenge begins, this cheat is no longer allowed. You may use any Lot Traits you like, but think about which would best suit this challenge. The palace may be in any neighbourhood (ie. the Kingdom), and your Royal Family may interact with anyone in the game (ie. all worlds.)
You may create, download and/or move-in commoners, Nobility, other Royal families into your Kingdom but you MUST NOT PLAY THEM. You may only play a Sim once they are moved into your palace (ie. when they are married into the family.)
The challenge begins once your founder(s) move in to the Palace. You must set their money to §50,000. This is the last time you may adjust Simoleons. 
Your founder may be male or female (or X, for that matter) and single or married. They must not have any children. (Laws regarding Succession are below.) You may title them appropriately (King/Queen, Duke/Duchess, Prince/Princess.)
You may have as many children as you like! (Keep in mind your home’s capacity of 8. You may not be able to move through the generations as quickly if you have a lot of children.) Butlers and Nannies are allowed - in fact, they are encouraged! This is your chance to live an extravagant life!
Children and teens must attend school as normal. Heirs/spares may also attend University, if they choose. They must pay their tuition in full, without taking a student loan. It can be completed full- or part-time. The heir MAY NOT move into student housing, as they must always remain on the lot. The spares may go away for University, but must return to the Palace. 
When your Sim is the head of the family (ie. King/Queen) they MAY NOT hold a job. Their only job is to reign over their land. The heir (and spares) may hold a job while they are in line-to-the-throne, but once they ascend, they must quit. The jobs your Royals may have are limited to:
Freelancer Writer
Painter
Trendsetter
Photographer
Charity Organizer
Internet Personality 
Environmental Manager
Botanist
Military
During their lives, each generation must host the following three social events*:
Coronation - the Official crowning of the King/Queen. Plan this as a “Black and White Bash.” A solemn event - may take place on or off Palace grounds (typically, in a cathedral or the like.) The dress code is White Tie. Children are typically not invited. 
Royal Wedding - must take place in a church/religious establishment/civic building and have a full reception of 20 guests. Plan this as a “Wedding.” The dress code is Black Tie. You must be engaged first and may not elope. Children may be invited. 
State Dinner - this is an occasion for the Royal Family to show off their kingdom! This event must take place at the Palace. Plan this as a “Dinner Party.” The dress code is Black or White tie. The guest list must be full, however, it is limited to other Royals, Nobility and Celebrities. No children allowed. 
*Other than your founders, who are only responsible for one State Dinner, and one wedding if they begin unmarried. They have technically already been crowned, and thus do not need to have a Coronation. 
The guest list must always be set at the maximum (so make lots of friends quickly!) and you must hire a caterer, mixologist and entertainer. You must achieve at minimum Bronze level to count the party. If it was unsuccessful, you must throw another.
These events may occur in any order - it will depend on your storyline - however, the State Dinner must be thrown by the King/Queen when they are reigning.

Getting Started
Your challenge begins in Create-A-Sim (CAS.) There, you must design your founder. Your founder can be just about anything you want (they can even be an alien!) You can pick whatever aspiration you want for them and give them whatever traits you want. Pick out their gender, wardrobe, body shape and color, and even incorporate any custom content or mods. The ONLY two rules are that they must be of the Young Adult age, and they must be the only person in the household.
Take extra care when giving them their name, especially their last name, as many future Sims will have that as part of their name, so make it a good one!
Gender Law
The first component is Gender. You must pick one of the following options:
Matriarchy: The Founder must be female. Only girls are eligible to be named heir unless there are no female children, at which point boys become eligible for that generation.
Strict Matriarchy: The Founder must be female. Only girls are eligible to be named heir. Male children cannot, under any circumstance, ever be the heir to the next generation.
Patriarchy: The Founder must be male. Only boys are eligible to be named heir unless there are no male children, at which point girls become eligible for that generation.
Strict Patriarchy: The Founder must be male. Only boys are eligible to be named heir. Female children cannot, under any circumstance, ever be the heir to the next generation.
Equality: The Founder may be of either gender. Both boys and girls are eligible for the title of heir.
Strict Equality: The founder may be of either gender. However, only children of the opposite gender to the founder are eligible to be named heir. This repeats itself for the next generation (the next heir must be a different gender than the previous heir) so that each generation will have alternating-genders as heirs.
Bloodline Law
The Second Component is Bloodline law. You must pick from one of these options:
Strict Traditional: To be eligible to be named heir, a child must be naturally born from their previous-generation parents and be able to trace an unbroken bloodline back to the founder. Adopted children may never be named heir.
Traditional: Children who are naturally born from the previous generation are eligible to be named heir. Adopted children are ineligible to be named heir unless there are no naturally born children, at which point they become eligible for that generation.
Modern: Both Naturally born and adopted children are eligible to be named heir.
Foster: Children who are adopted are eligible to be named heir. Naturally born children are not eligible to be named heir unless there are no adopted children, at which point they become eligible for that generation.
Strict Foster: Only Children who are adopted are eligible for the title of heir. Naturally born children may never be heir.
The Gender Law and Bloodline Law serve as a sort of ‘qualifying’ round. If either law names a child as ineligible, then they cannot gain the title of heir. However, just because a child is eligible to be named heir according to Gender and Bloodline laws, doesn’t mean they WILL be the heir. The third category actually picks the heir.
Heir Law
The third Category is the Heir Selection Law. You must choose from the following options:
First Born: The oldest, by order of joining the family, eligible living child is named heir.
Last Born: The youngest, by order of joining the family, eligible living child is named heir.
Living Will: The eligible child with the highest friendly relationship score with their previous-generation’s parent will be named heir.
Merit: The child with the most fully completed aspirations will be named heir. If there is a tie, the child with the highest level in a single skill will become heir from among the children who are tied.
Strength: The first born eligible child becomes heir by default… but the tile can be forcefully taken from them if an eligible sibling beats them in a fight. That sibling may have their title taken (or taken back) if they lose a fight to another eligible sibling.
Random: The title of heir is randomly selected from the pool of all eligible children. Every time the eligible pool changes size, the heir must be re-rolled using the new pool.
Exemplar: At the beginning of the challenge, name a single trait. This trait must be one of your founder’s three traits. Any eligible heir that has this trait will gain the title of heir. If a single generation has no children with this trait follow the First Born rule. If more than one child has the Exemplar trait then the oldest child WITH the trait will be the heir.
Democracy: This rule may be used if you are displaying your Legacy Challenge in some public way. Either via Let’s Play, Livestream, blog or other format where people can leave comment. The heir is chosen by your viewers/readers from among the pool of eligible heirs.
Magical Bloodline: Choose the heir by whoever has the strongest magical bloodline trait. If there is no magical bloodline trait (ie in the earlier generations) then the law defaults to first born until magic is introduced to the family. If multiple potential heirs have the same level of magical trait, choose the oldest one.
Magical Strength: Similar to the Strength law above, this one requires two or more potential heirs to have a magical duel. Whoever wins the duel, is the new heir.
Children
Regardless of your succession law, you may always introduce children into your family via pregnancy or adoption. Bloodline law will determine which are eligible to be heirs. (With the addition of The Sims 4 Get to Work alien babies can also be brought into the family via abduction.) Children may only be adopted as infants. You may not adopt if there are any infants (natural born or adopted) living in the house at the time and must wait for them to grow to toddlers before adopting a new one. You may rename the baby, and it is recommended (but not required) that you change their last name to the Legacy Family’s name.
Regardless of their status, when an infant ages up into a toddler, you must roll for their toddler trait (and later their aspiration and their first trait using the calculator found here when they become a child.) Be sure to put the traits of the two parents (even for adopted children) in the calculator because the algorithm it uses factors those in when generating random traits for the children. When the child grows into a teenager, you consult the calculator again for their adult aspiration and their second trait. Finally the calculator will be used to generate the third trait upon reaching young adulthood.
There is an option here to generate both aspirations and all three traits for a sim at once, though the proper method is to wait until the Sim ages up. And remember- No re-rolling! One of the hallmarks of this challenge is getting randomly generated children so you should keep the good with the bad. Since the traits of the parents have an influence on the traits of their children, you can try to engineer children by selecting spouses with desirable traits, but this is no guarantee.
You are allowed to use fruit and/or music to influence the gender of an unborn child, should you choose to do so.
Gameplay Rules
No cheats/hacks/mods that give you an advantage in the challenge over someone that does not use them (ie. no “motherlode” or “kaching” to get more money.)
No restarting the game after bad events. You must let them play out.
You may not move or merge in other Sims into the Legacy Family with the exception of partners/spouses. 
The Legacy Family must remain on the same lot for the duration of the challenge (this does not include vacations.) They are free (and encouraged) to develop their house but they may not move into a new house. Rooms may be imported into the house from the exchange as long as the family pays full price for the construction and items contained within.
A Sim may utilize an anti-aging item ONCE in their lifetime.
You may not change a Sim’s current aspiration. The exception is when they fully complete an aspiration. When that happens, you may choose their new aspiration, as long as it is not one they’ve already completed.
You may not bring a Sim back from the dead once the reaper has taken them. You MAY plead with the reaper in order to save a recently dead Sim.
You may not move/marry out the sim who currently holds the title of “Heir.” All of the other children in that generation (known as ‘spares’) may move or marry out. Once a sim moves out, they are ineligible to be heir, even if conditions change that might make them the rightful heir.
When playing a Legacy Challenge, your legacy family is the ONLY family you may play in that saved game. You MAY move in new families into the neighbourhood during your challenge (keeping in mind that they can be used for friends, but not spouses) but you may not play them.
You must use the Random Trait Generator to get traits and aspirations for all children born/adopted into the family.

Overall Thoughts On the New Event
It's been a while since the last time we got a new event! Last time was three years ago, changing the weirdly-balanced Flood event to the storyline-based Egypt event.
Now, we're getting rid of the storyline parts of the July event and replacing it with a new feature. A feature that has some kinks that I hope get worked out. I'll get into that later.
This got a little long so I'm putting it under a cut. TL;DR - I mostly like it, especially the carryovers and the new art-based stuff. The gameplay balance is where I get critical. (I also started writing this before further adjustments. I'm still finishing and posting it but with some notes on those parts.)
The Carryovers
To start off, I'll say that my favorite parts of the old event were (in this order):
1. The Celestial/Murder Stone (sacrificing NCLs to gain Energy/Exp *rubs hands evilly*)
2. The fact that the storyline branched in so many ways, letting you get a different ending every year/on both accounts
3. The Celestial Raffle
Of those, two survived! I totally understand the reasoning for the storyline getting the axe - it had some moments that are completely normal in gameplay, but not-so-great when put into a canon form. I struggle with dancing around stuff like that in my own lore.
So this event gets a good start, keeping most of what was great about the old event. The only reason I miss the Firefly stuff at all is that I tagged July as Agility in my Fight Calculator because it would be useful for catching fireflies. So that's not a thing anymore. (But July's still Agility because I'm too lazy to change everything after I just recently balanced it)
Tefnut's Memories
...I'm going to get to the applicators later.
Aside from that, I like that it exists, and the decor prices are pretty reasonable. It's nice to have a place to get/reget all those storyline items that I missed or used up, and I really like the designs of these characters so it's nice that they're still around, in a way.
I also think having the prices be in SB is perfectly fine. This isn't the main attraction of the event. They're mainly legacy content that's still around because they're cool items.
New Stuff - Artwork
Space. Dragons. Pink/Purple space dragons at that.
If you're not aware, I'm of the Arcane Flight on Flight Rising - aka I'm on the pink/space/alien/(magic/radioactivity/crystal) team on the dragon game. This stuff appeals to me.
I just cannot express how excited I am about the dragon morph and buddy decor in the main shop. Amazing. Adorable. I want it all and I want to add it to my lore somehow.
I also really enjoy the new explore area art, especially how the background changes every click. I like how the enemies are based on nebulas, too. Very misty and pretty/cool-looking.
New Stuff - Gameplay
EDIT While I was writing this more changes were made. I'm still posting it as it was, although it seems all my issues are being addressed!
Here's where things get less great.
The idea of use primary energy to get secondary energy to get tokens for prizes I've seen before, and it usually works. Wolvden does it for the Lunar Event, and I think that game has a great system down.
But that's not really what's happening here. What's happening is:
- Use primary energy (Energy) -> Occasionally receive secondary energy (Meteorite Shards). This amount is usually less than one secondary energy step.
- Use secondary energy AND primary energy -> Occasionally receive event currency (Axion Cores). Sometimes you also get nothing and use up secondary energy and there's nothing you can do about it. Sometimes you get nothing and use up both primary and secondary energy if you lose a fight. (EDIT no longer necessarily true!)
This is where it gets punishing. There's only a small chance of getting Meteorite Shards in the first place, and it's in amounts smaller than you can use right away. And then when you use them, you could just get nothing.
If it were just the Meteorite Shards at stake, that'd be one thing, but since you have to have enough Energy to fight, it means it's sucking up your ability to get more Meteorite Shards at the same time. It's an awful cycle. (EDIT and I'm glad they took away the Energy requirement)
All that is issue enough, but the real trouble comes from the applicators in Tefnut's Memories. (EDIT which they're adjusting again)
I don't know how they were priced originally. I just saw after the adjustment and the reply on the news post requesting the price raise saying some of them were 6k SB. 6k SB is pretty expensive for an official shop item by itself, since the game punishes you for having over 5k SB by removing your ability to gain more in Explore. I try to keep under that cutoff, myself. But 6k's not too unreasonable to get.
But after the adjustment, they were 10k SB for base applicators, and 15k SB for marking applicators. Which is pretty unreasonable. I don't think I make that much in a month (maybe I do? Studs and Chasteberries add up). I'm still recovering from using 5k SB on the Vredefort Crater quest.
After feedback and a GB price crash, they changed them back to Meteorite Shards. Except now it's so much harder to gain Meteorite Shards because they're a secondary energy now, and it was already pretty hard to get to the prices they were at without using them on anything else.
So basically, you have a choice: participate in the event and don't get the Tefnut's Memories applicators, or get the applicators and miss out on all of the new stuff.
(EDIT they took the applicators out of the shop temporarily, I'm assuming to think it over better. Thanks devs! I hope you come up with a good solution.)
Overall, it has issues, and I really hope they rethink the balance soon, if not next year. (EDIT they are doing it as I'm writing this!)
Conclusion
Great concept, great art, rocky execution. It is overall more good than bad, but the bad is pretty strong since most of the good hasn't unlocked yet.

I don’t want to be that person—
But I really need to get this off my chest. This is the culmination of two months buildup of thoughts that have been screaming far too loud for me to continue simply taking in stride. I can’t do it. I apologize in advance, for anyone who actually reads this, if this is a deterrent to you about my character or my minuscule space taken up here on Tumblr. Again, I really can no longer remain silent. If it’s any solace:
I tried.
Where to begin. First off—as much as I’d love for this to be an update on the next chapter of Remember Me, it is not. For those of you who’ve kept up with the story, I’m sure you’ve noticed my uploading pattern these past few weeks has been reduced to solely weekends—and barely that, might I add. While I will try to have Chapter 9 up within the next few days, I cannot guarantee when. At this point in time, it’s not a lack of creative streak, it’s a lack of time. I have all these outlines and segments in my head but can’t seem to even catch a breath much less put the story down in my notes or in Word for later edit and upload. But I’m trying. I really am. As I’ve said before: I will finish this story, come hell or high water. But currently being engulfed in the former has been a huge burden.
Per my past psa’s: My health? Two giant thumbs down (nothing to do with COVID-19). Personal aspects? Two giant thumbs down. Both are and have been slowly corroding me. To avoid this post seemingly grabbing for sympathy, I’m going to just stop there with that. But I’m truly suffocating in this corner.
Next point in case: I’m going to be completely candid here. It’s extremely difficult and utterly exhausting to continue posting fics. Mentally and Emotionally. The pressure to post. The pressure to post because if you don’t in a timely manner, you lose your momentum and “fall behind” when you post again. Then you’re right back to square one thereafter because people have grown absent in your absence. It’s exhausting and stressful to spin in that wheel.
It’s difficult when you pour every drop of energy into a work, only for it to sit largely unnoticed on your blog. To stay up literally all night making sure your punctuation is impeccable, re-reading the same fic over and over before you post until your brain explodes and you utterly forsake the fic the minute you hit that post button. To take up space on a post tagging and adding those notes and engaging flares that go unrequited. It’s... well, it’s detrimental. It gets you down. It gets me down. I’m not going to lie about that. We all want validation and I will be the first to shoot my hand up in acknowledgement.
I’m going to stop right there as you’re reading to clarify: This is not a call-out post. This is not a guilt post. This is not me giving an ultimatum. This is not me demanding reblogs. This is not me telling you “your likes don’t matter” (I have literally seen that on posts and it kind of disgusts me. That’s all I’m going to say about that for now).
Reblogs, while unanimously appreciated, are not a priority to me. Comments and feedback and communication are invaluable to me. That’s it. That coveted and intimate interaction between the Writer and the Reader. One is not more important than the other. We’re a team, a unit, a force that balances each other on a broad, diverse scale.
I don’t ask for much—I don’t ask for anything here, actually (unless it’s directed towards the general audience over what y’all would like to see, which largely goes unengaged whenever I bring up). No, I don’t post fics that frequently. No, I don’t crank them out as quick. No, I don’t have that many. Yes, I’m new to fanfic writing. But I work quietly and solely with all my own plots and dialogues and ideas (I love prompts and requests, though). Thus my usually hefty works. Y’all get the whole nine yards. But I don’t feel like I really get to bounce my ideas around to others, which can further exacerbate that sense of isolation for me around here. I put myself through a really long process for every single thing I write because, the quality of my work matters to me. A lot. So I try to take my time to deliver that. And... I guess I just hope you know that or can discern that as you read each time.
Another astronomically exhausting aspect is this platform itself. It’s painfully evident to me, in my four meager months here, that Tumblr is just one big popularity contest. Who can upload the most, the fastest, the most efficiently. Who has the most followers. Who accumulates them the quickest. A place where your “exposure” is literally at the mercy of others. And when people purposely don’t want to aid in that, it spirals into this really toxic mindset causing friction between Writers and other Writers, causing unnecessary strain, avoidance, insecurities, and hinderances to YOUR precious work. And I’m not about that. It’s a no from me.
Also, I’ve just got to interject with this bit: Bad Batch Writers. Bad Batch Writers struggle. In my opinion, from what I’ve seen, it’s like if you aren’t writing for a popular Clone like Wolffe or Fives or Jesse, you don’t get traffic. Which I think is just... kind of corny. Okay. I think it’s really corny and ridiculous. Please know that I’m not saying anything bad about those Clone babies, the people who write them, or anything like that. Please don’t hear what I’m not saying. I’m just making a point. Bad Batch does NOT get enough love. And the Writers ultimately suffer because of it. That’s all there.
We’re all supposed to be in this together. Your work—your writing—is neither good nor bad. There’s no such thing. There’s only YOUR writing; your unique, beautiful words that I LOVE more than anything, that only YOU speak. We all speak a different dialect and flow through our storytelling. And it’s a beautiful, wholesome thing. It always has been. It should never be this detrimental stage Tumblr has made for content creators. Let’s be honest: Tumblr is not the ideal place to thrive. And I’m just... sick of it.
I’m beyond an exhausted state. I can’t remember that last time I wasn’t. (I know everyone is, with the ebb and flow of our world’s daily uncertainties during these unprecedented times). But for me, personally, it’s getting increasingly harder to keep up with the reblogs and comments and blogs of all the stories I love, while updating my work and trying to interact on my blog, while battling my health and nonexistent energy, and constantly be exposed to the “Tumblr Tumbles”, as I call it—the overbearing popularity and the waiting and the wondering and the silent seething because of it. It’s just too much. And it doesn’t take a detective to pick up on that attitudinal shift around here. It’s all just one big, pernicious cycle. And seeing that here nearly every day, exhausts me. I don’t know how else to convey as much. But I just can’t do it. And honestly, I get this overwhelming loneliness just being here.
I don’t know what I’m trying to say. I’m going to continue doing my thing until my engine sputters out. I’m going to keep up with storytelling, because I love it more than anything. I just needed to get this off my chest. I’m just rambling. I might delete this but, I might not. Who knows.
I just... Geez. I need to know that I’m not just shouting into the void over here like always.
Communication to me is key. If you don’t want me to tag you anymore: tell me. If you don’t want me to message you: tell me. Please. Just don’t like me? Cool. Tell me. It’s better to know and communicate than to walk on eggshells around everyone and everything. I’ve applied that flawed strategy throughout my whole life and I strongly dislike doing so. It adds no benefit to either party. Just be honest with yourself and others. That’s always super important.
For those of you, my handful of regulars who are around... you know who you are. Thank you. My thanks is but a meager conveyance of my undying gratitude for you. But I want you to know how much I appreciate your presence here. Words cannot express.
@halzore... You are a real mate. You are an incredible being who is not only insightful but, a true muse here. I look to you as more than just a devoted Reader of mine, and you should know that I would NOT have gotten this far with my Bad Batch Post Order: 66 series—or any of my Bad Batch works, for that matter—without your encouraging words. Holy cow. You’re a dearest friend. Your writing, art, and musical talent leaves me in awe. (A truly brilliant mind, please go love her y’all). Thank you for seeing all the good, little things in me and my work. It makes this all worth it. You make it all worth it. I get really overwhelmed thinking about it. But I just want you to know I appreciate you so much.
To anyone who’s ever left me kind, encouraging, and wonderful comments... I remember them. I do. I think of them when I’m down, and I think of them now as I write this—which is in my dispirited state, ironically. But I appreciate it. I think it is so SO important to lift each other up with words. You don’t have to reblog and all that (only speaking for myself here). Just take a moment to say something kind to someone. It makes someone’s entire day, week, month, year. Please... love other Writers. Love yourself. We all struggle. But let’s do it together. Let’s be there for each other.

You are a valued human being with feelings, desires, wants, needs... come share that with me. I’m going to try and get better. At writing, at navigating this strange place, with my health, with life. I’ve been at my breaking point for so long that my barely held together pieces and exposed, worn chinks are almost uneffected and unresponsive to any help or healing. But I’m going to try.

PSA: Stuff You Maybe Didn’t Realize You Can Back Up To AO3, And How To Tag it
Tumblr seems to be in potential death throes or at least, incredibly volatile and unreliable lately, but we’ve done some pretty good and informative work on canon analysis and reference guides so I was looking for ways to back it up without losing it...and the solution became obvious to me: Archive of Our Own, aka AO3.  “What?” you might ask if you are less familiar with their TOS. “Isn’t that just a fanfic archive??” No! It’s a fanWORK archive. It is an archive for fanworks in general! “Fanwork” is a broad term that encompasses a lot of things, but it doesn’t just include fanfic and fanart, vids etc; it also includes “fannish” essays and articles that fall under what’s often called “meta” (from the word for “beyond” or “above”, referencing that it goes beyond the original exact text)! The defining factor of whether Archive of Our Own is the appropriate place to post it is not whether or not it’s a fictional expansion of canon (fanfic), though that is definitely included - no, it’s literally just “is this a work by a ‘fan’ intended for other ‘fannish’ folks/of ‘fannish’ interest?”  The articles we’ve written as a handy reference to the period-appropriate Japanese clothing worn by Inuyasha characters?  The analyses of characters? The delineations of concrete canon (the original work) vs common “fanon” (common misconceptions within the fandom)? Even the discussion of broader cultural, historical, and geographic context that applies to the series and many potential fanworks?  All of those are fannish nonfiction! Which means they absolutely can (and will) have a home on AO3, and I encourage anybody who is wanting to back up similar works of “fannish interest” - ranging from research they’ve done for a fic, to character analyses and headcanons - to use AO3 for it, because it’s a stable, smooth-running platform that is ad-free and unlike tumblr, is run by a nonprofit (The OTW) that itself is run by and for the benefit of, fellow fans.  Of course, that begs the question of how to tag your work if you do cross-post it, eh? So on that note, here’s a quick run-down of tags we’re finding useful and applicable, which I’ve figured out through a combination of trial and error and actually asking a tag wrangler (shoutout to @wrangletangle for their invaluable help!): First, the Very Broad: - “ Nonfiction ”. This helps separate it from fanfic on the archive, so people who aren’t looking for anything but fanfic are less likely to have to skim past it, whereas people looking for exactly that content are more likely to find it. - while “Meta” and “Essay” and even “Information” are all sometimes used for the kinds of nonfiction and analytical works we post, I’ve been told “ Meta Essay ” is the advisable specific tag for such works. This would apply to character analyses, reference guides to canon, and even reference guides to real-world things that are reflected in the canon (such as our articles on Japanese clothing as worn by the characters).  The other three tags are usable, and I’ve been using them as well to cover my bases, but they’ll also tend to bring up content such as “essay format” fanfic or fanfic with titles with those words in them - something that does not happen with “Meta Essay”.
- I’ve also found by poking around in suggested tags, that “ Fanwork Research & Reference Guides ” is consistently used (even by casual users) for: nonfiction fannish works relating to analyses of canon materials; analyses of and meta on fandom-specific or fanwork-specific tropes; information on or guides to writing real-world stuff that applies to or is reflected in specific fandoms' media (e.g. articles on period-appropriate culture-specific costuming and how to describe it); and expanded background materials for specific fans' fanworks (such as how a given AU's worldbuilding is supposed to be set up) that didn't fit within the narrative proper and is separated out as a reference for interested readers. Basically, if it's an original fan-made reference for something specific to one or more fanworks, or a research aid for writing certain things applicable to fanworks or fannish interests in general, then it can fall under that latter tag. 
- You should also mark it with any appropriate fandom(s) in the “Fandom” field. Just like you would for a fanfic, because of course, the work is specifically relevant to fans of X canon, right? If it discusses sensitive topics, or particular characters, etc., you should probably tag for those. E.g. “death” or “mental illness”, “Kagome Higurashi”, etc. 
Additionally, if you are backing it up from a Tumblr you may wish to add: - “ Archived From Tumblr “ and/or “ Cross-Posted From Tumblr ” to reference the original place of publication, for works originally posted to tumblr. (I advise this if only because someday, there might not be “tumblr” as we know it, and someone might be specifically looking for content that was originally on it, you never know) - “ Archived From [blog name] Blog ”; this marks it as an archived work from a specific blog. And yes, I recommend adding the word “blog” in there for clarity- Wrangletangle was actually delighted that I bothered to tag our first archived work with “Archived From Inu-Fiction Blog” because being EXTREMLY specific about things like that is super helpful to the tag wranglers on AO3, who have to decide how to categorize/”syn” (synonym) various new tags from alphabetized lists without context of the original posting right in front of them.  In other words, including the name AND the word “blog” in it, helps them categorize the tag on the back end without having to spend extra time googling what the heck “[Insert Name Here]” was originally. 
Overall, you should be as specific and clear as possible, but those tags/tag formats should prove useful in tagging it correctly should you choose to put fannish essays and articles up on AO3 :) Oh, and protip sidebar for those posting, especially works that are more than plain text: you can make archiving things quicker and easier for yourself, but remember to plan ahead for tumblr’s potential demise/disabling/service interruptions. The good news: You can literally copy and paste the ENTIRE text of a tumblr post from say, an “edit” window, on tumblr, straight into AO3′s Rich Text Format editor, and it will preserve pretty much all or almost all of the formatting - such as bold, italics, embedded links, etc! But the bad news: keep in mind that while AO3 allows for embedded images and it WILL transfer those embedded images with a quick copy-paste like that, AO3 itself doesn’t host the images for embedding; those are still external images. This means that whether or not they continue to load/display for users, depends entirely on whether the file is still on the original external server! As I quickly discovered, in the case of posts copied from the Edit window of a tumblr post, the images will still point to the copies of the images ON tumblr’s servers. What this means is that you should back up (save copies elsewhere of) any embedded images that you consider vital to such posts, in case you need to upload them elsewhere and fiddle with where the external image is being pulled from, later.  Personally, I’m doing that AND adding image descriptions underneath them, just to be on the safe side (and in fairness, this makes it more accessible to people who cannot view the images anyway, such as sight-impaired people who use screen readers or people who have images set to not automatically display on their browser, so it’s win-win)

These are some of the rules that have been established over time for my own sake, and to make everyone’s time on here a lot easier!

However, Bucky loves Steve, bordering on obsessively. Whether it’s platonic, romantic, or completely one-sided pining is up to plotting and muse chemistry.

James is incredibly anxious about dealing with Steve for many reasons, and more anxious about the possibility of infringing on Bucky’s territory.
It is one of few ships that will require Bucky’s active participation if you want James involved, because James will refuse Steve otherwise.

Specific to Peppers: Tony cares ( depending on point in time, deeply ) for her, but I will not expect a ship and it must be plotted out. 
They could be exes, almosts, currently dating, platonically attached, whatever we would like! But it must be plotted.
specifically for Janes: I do not automatically lead with fosterson! My default is somewhere between slow burn infatuation or mutual, friendly separation. Thor adores her in any type of relationship though, and supports her endeavors and enthusiasms
For Bucky and James, dating one of them does not mean you have to be dating the other.
It would be marginally easier depending on time and verse tho
Specifically for Natashas: I include the generality of James being at the Red Room, but we must plot about including the affair or not. It is not my default canon.
if we are defaulting to winterwidow, James is the one most familiar with her, not Bucky. James was the fronting personality when they originally met, and Bucky’s recollection of events will be hazy if present at all.
If you want to ship Nat with Bucky, it must be plotted and must account for the prior/continuing relationship with James
For Sharon, she has no romantic interest in men ( yes including Steve ).
if she ends up with a comics-inclined verse this may change but will still require heavy plotting.

Touken Ranbu The Movie [Review]
It’s finally here! It’s finally arrived! We waited so long and it’s finally here! I’m hoping I can see it at least one more time before it stops at the cinema because it is so good!

NON-SPOILER REVIEW Overall: This was amazing! I absolutely adored and loved so many parts of this movie!! I loved the story, I loved the reinterpretation of history, I loved the twists and surprises (there are so many that you don’t expect!), I loved the action, I loved the colouring, I loved the cinematography and the camera shots, I loved seeing their pretty make up and their pretty faces on a big giant screen! They all looked amazing!! My honest to god only complaint is that (1) there is a very obvious voice dub within the first 15 minutes of the movie; (2) some of the editing and transitions between scenes were just not smooth at all. The editing was really rough compared to how amazingly produced everything else is in this movie. A few cuts really pissed me off and some transitions were so jarring. I do have one more complaint but it’s spoilery so I’ll list that below. But everything else was amazing! Cannot wait for the DVD! Rating: 8/10 if only the editing had been better.

SPOILER REVIEW
Story
We are back at Honnouji no Hen trying to stop the Jikansokougun from interfering with it. You know the story if you’ve read the history and/or watched the first stage.
Now to the spoilers...
The TouDan think they’ve finished off the Jikansokougun and go back to the Honmaru, but in fact there was still one left who grabs Oda and takes him to a safe place. When Oda wakes up he has the whole Jikansokougun army within his grasp and one of the commanders ‘Mume’ can talk to him and stays by Oda’s side. The TouDan realise what’s happened and goes back. While there Jiji actually saves and rans away with Oda. Everyone feels betrayed but they continue their mission of keeping and eye on Hideyoshi. Jiji takes Oda to Azuchi where Hideyoshi raids and tries to burn down (as per the correct history) but again the Jikansokougun interfere.
I’ll stop there so you’re not too spoiled if you did carry on to read more.

Using the star format as usual so it’s easier and quicker for me to get through reviews. 
General Comments
☆ This was so BEAUTIFULLY SHOT! Some of the shots are so well done and they all looked so damn pretty! They must’ve had a very nice budget for this movie because it’s visually beautiful, the colouring used is beautiful, so many shots are just PERFECT!
☆ I loved the close ups of all the swords! Being able to see their pretty faces  (which had a lot lighter make up than what they wear on stage so their natural beauty shined out more!) so close up was just wonderful ^_^
☆ Also their makeup! I absolutely adored their make up in this!! All of the swords except Nihongo have eyeliner half way across their bottom lashes (yeah this is how good the quality is and how well you can see the makeup and how goddamn observant I am xD). And they all looked SO NICE! 
☆ NIHONGO’S ONSIE for uchiba/Internal Affairs is freaking ADORABLE!!!! It’s a freaking Onsie! A ONSIE! I was losing it!! And he looked so good in it too!! It was this freaking adorable great onsie!! I can’t get over this... I can’t! xD
☆ Jiji has plot armour in this movie too as expected because he’s always givemn bloody plot armour. He REALLY should’ve died in this one. Scientifically and by Touken Game standards he SHOULD have died. But alas ‘we can’t hurt the fan favourite precious Jiji’ oh fuck off, hurry up and kill him already! Fuck sake.
☆ I really liked Fuma’s Honebami. Just like the stages, we didn’t get enough time with him. We didn’t really get to know him. But I think something between His and Mitsuya’s Hone is what I expect Hone to be so I like Movie Hone. BUT, Hone should’ve died too by the way. Just from the dire situation he ends up in, he really should’ve been killed and died. It’s not like we can’t bring these swords back!
☆ I died a little when Uguisumaru said his famous line!
☆ Tomoki as Uguisumaru was perfect JUST as I had predicted! He was great! I loved the looks between Jiji and him where they completely understood each other without having to speak! I absolutely adored how soft his voice was, very nicely matching Ugui’s image. 
☆ Also I did start laughing at one point when I remembered Suzuki and Tomoki had been in YowaPeda together. I just imagined Suzuki’s Arakita and Tomoki’s Makishima dressing up in their sword outfits. Them looking like TouDan but with their Peda character’s personalities just cracked me up SO MUCH!
☆ You can definitely appreciate the amount of LEG shown by Yagen and Fudou in this movie! The camera itself really loved focusing on Yagen’s legs! Many times there are obvious shots that are there JUST for his legs xD and there’s a scene at the honmaru where Fudou goes to sleep and you can see all the muscles in his legs and it’s beautiful ^_^ highly appreciated and thankful for these shots!
☆ I do like movie version of Hasebe. I liked him somewhat in this one. There wasn’t so much forehead acting from Wada in this (thank god) so I liked Hasebe this time around. 
☆ And I guess movie version of Jiji wasn’t as much of a dick as he is in the stage too. I do like Jiji quite a bit in this one too, but he still got that god damn plot armour.
☆ In some shots you can see the knee support around Maki’s right leg - he was still receiving rehabilitation on his knee after his surgery when he stupidly went off to film this.
☆ I am here for the utter and complete tag team of Yagen and Manba! I absolutely adored all their scenes together! I was SO down for this pair up! They were great together!

☆ If you’ve never seen the Eiga Dorobo video, I highly recommend you see it! It’s often shown in movie theatre before the movie starts and it’s gold! (see here) so for Touken Ranbu they made special ones with the cast joining in! They even had the Jikansokougun too! So far there have only been 2 episodes out and a third one should be coming. So for the two different episodes we had the appearance of:
Eiga Dorobo 1: Uguisumaru, Fudou, Hasebe
Eiga Dorobo 2: Honebami, Nihongo, Yagen
☆ Watching the movie, I had this huge moment of ‘fuck, I love Touken Ranbu’, because there are so many versions of it and anyone can make any version they want because the creators of the game gave so much leeway as to how to interpret the swords, the personalities, how they defend history, the lore of the Jikan, there is just so much god damn potential in this series and there’s so many ways and stories you can write with these boys! I just got so happy and proud while watch the movie. We can literally make up whatever shit we want so long as history goes back to normal at the end! It’s GREAT!
☆ However, as already stated above, there were some super dodgy editing in this! I really need to find out who the editor is and send them an email because some of the editing was cringe worthy. We literally had one shot where Jiji walks out but the shot is focused on Jiji’s feet for about 5 seconds while Jiji talks. No shot of Jiji actually talking, no shot of Jiji’s face, just his FEET! HIS FEET! What the hell was that shot of Jiji’s feet at the beginning of the movie?! I’ve watched this movie TWICE and I have absolutely NO idea what the point of that shot was! That was the worst one. 
☆ Other things like in the very first opening scene we are have a VERY OBVIOUS audio dub over one of the guys. Why they dubbed over the man with different lines to what his mouth creates, I don’t know why, but it does not sync up at all and it is very obvious.
☆ And the transition between scenes/days and the cut backs to older stuff in the movie was just very poorly edited too. If a scene ended, it would fade to black and for like 2 seconds there would be nothing, no music, just a black scene and then suddenly a new song would start, it felt VERY stage-y and not like a movie at all! It was cringe worthy and really wasted precious seconds we could’ve spent on the movie. Also we had some ‘flashback’ scenes and the music and sound immediately cut off from Cut 1 -> Cut 2 would be the flashback and be absolutely silent, no music -> go back to Cut 1 and suddenly the music has restarted again. I REALLY didn’t like it! It REALLY pissed me. LET ME FUCKING REEDIT THIS GOD DAMN MOVIE! The post production for most of this movie SUCKED. The editing and the sound mixing SUCKED. Ugh... that person needs firing.
☆ Also, this movie was WAY too short! We get 3 hour long stages from Marv, so why is the movie less than 2 god damn hours?! It’s barely 1 hour 45! Give me more gungi! Give me some comedy! (There is NO comedy in this besides ONE line from Hasebe!) Give me them enjoying time at the god damn honmaru! 
☆ Upon looking back, I realised that they did not show one of the bigger fights at all that happens towards the end of the movie. I really wish they had shown that fight scene rather than having it happen off screen. There was so much potential and so much you could’ve done with that fight scene. You could’ve easily had swords pop up here, there, everywhere and they could’ve done it in a real stylistic way if they didn’t have the time or money to get actual actors. They could’ve just done close up shots of swords’ costumes, or their feet landing next to the Jikan, or show two swords clashing, or a danshi jumping into the fight etc. You could’ve easily ‘brought in’ many swords into that fight scene without actual hiring any actors (especially if certain actors did not have time) and it could’ve been very creative, stylistic and interesting and it would’ve been a big flail for the fans.
☆ Also MAJOR SPOILERS HERE: the ending part with the new sword? Don’t just IGNORE that for fuck sake! Give him and the audience an explanation! Let him speak! Let him have his moment as to what happened to him and where he’s been and what he went through shit! God damn don’t just NOT explain that! Don’t just have him pop up, save the day, say his name and FINISH! What the fuck.
Wow the more I think about this movie, the more dissatisfied I get... okay, last one!
☆ Also Nishii Yukito had SUCH a small role!!! I was hoping he’d have so much more screen time than what he actually got. He has about 1 minute max *so sad*
I DO pin a lot of my complaints and nitpicks on the fact I have a cinematography background; I studied film, I’ve made films, I’ve always watched BTS of making films, I love the process of film making. And I think because of that, that’s why I’m being so particular on HOW it was made and on post-production and how I would’ve made the movie. So if you’re not into the whole film making side of movies then none of these are gunna bother you. If you’re not into this stuff then I really think you’ll enjoy this movie a lot! You will definitely have a good time and be satisfied and enjoy it so much!

MAJOR SPOILER TERRITORY COMMENTS
☆ I loved this version of Saru and how he isn’t just a nice guy and isn’t just the idiot that history leads us to believe. In this he’s cold, and mean, and turned against so many people! I loved Saru suddenly going against Hasebe too! It was such a plot twist! He invited Hasebe and Nihongo into his clan but as soon as our swords let down their guard, Saru’s men attacked them and they had to run! It was such a shocking twist! And Hasebe getting shot because of this ambush too was insane!! I know it’s spoiled in the trailer but seeing it happen in that moment! I was not expecting it at all!
☆ Also I am glad I got to see Hasebe actually almost physically harming Jiji, and Manba straight up being like ‘yo I don’t trust you Mika,’ and Yagen siding with Manba! Oh my! It was such a great scene! I loved all the suspicion going on around them and them not exactly wanting to agree or listen to Jiji. Argh! SO GOOD! I was like ‘HIT HIM HASEBE! DO IT!’ and I guess this is another reason why I like Movie Hasebe much more than Stage Hasebe.
 ☆ Seriously! I absolutely loved the teaming up of Yagen and Manba!! And now I want them forever on my team in the game now too! xD
☆ My heart hurt a little when Oda called Jiji ‘Munechika’, I was like ‘YOU HAVE NO RIGHT CALLING HIM BY HIS GIVEN NAME!!’ because clearly Jiji deserves more respect than Oda xD but I think it’s purposely put in so we do feel this way.
☆ I absolutely loved the twist for Oda’s story: he didn’t die at Honnouji, he actually died at Azuchi Castle and only Jiji knows the true hsitory because he was the only one there at the time! Such a great twist! And how Jiji tricked Oda into going to Azuchi, making Oda think he’ll be fine there and making Oda think that they are changing history together! Such a good plot twist! I loved it!
☆ Even though I was spoiled for the new sword, it’s very heavily implied throughout the entire movie. Especially when Akechi uses him in defense again the Jikan, and suddenly the danshi’s (who is clothed in Jikan armour and wear)  eyes turn bright yellow (Jikan’s eyes are all a glowing red). It’s a really good and random reveal!
☆ As Jiji tries to leave Azuchi castle, Honebami meets up with him. But fucking Oda pullings his sword on Hone and pins it at his neck! He tells Jiji to work with him or he’ll kill Hone and Jiji is like ‘I can’t help you, this is how it’s supposed to be’, just, I was like YESSSSSSSSSS!!!! But in the end Oda let’s Hone and Jiji go -__- I’m sorry but Hone SHOULD HAVE been killed there!
☆ One of my favourite lines from the movie is from Jiji (surprisingly) where he says: 守りたいことが増えばっかり。 // Things I want to protect just keep increasing. Which shows just how different of a Jiji we have in this version! He actually fucking emotionally cares in this one!
☆  The very last scene has ALL the Stage swords who have appeared in TouStage up to now were ALL at the Honmaru in this final scene. Except Daihannya & Ookanehira. Those two swords were NOT in this final scene. As for the actors; every one of the TouStage actors, except Hirose Daisuke and Kento, were as their Swords, in their costumes in this final scene. Ichigo and Tsurumaru ARE in this seen but are clearly NOT the actors. They clearly had body doubles / standins in this scene and their faces were out of focus. Also in the final ending credits, these two actors' names were not listed. I was flailing so hard!!! This was a HUGE shocker and I am so happy how many of them were able to come back for this one scene! So this is the scene where the new Saniwa is revealed and we finally got a female Saniwa!!!! I was like ‘YES JUSTICE!!!’ I spent most of the movie like ‘why the fuck is it always a Male Saniwa?!?! Why not hire someone ambiguous like Yuzuki or Toman as the Saniwa?!’. But alas we got our girl at the end!! The very very very last scene is absolutely ADORABLE! The saniwa (she’s like 3 years old) grabs onto the back of Jiji (he’s sitting down and drinking tea) and holds him for a piggyback, he smiles, picks her up and piggybacks her around the honmaru! It’s ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!! I was in absolutely tears at this scene! Ughhh someone give Suzuki babies!!! I was in a MESS of tears. And the very very very last line is him where he says ‘ Aruji.... the stuff I want to protect just keeps increasing’ arghhhh my heart!! *dead* IT’S SUCH A GOOD ENDING!!!

Thoughts on Pillowfort so far.
I’ll do more posts when the site finally stops crapping all over the bed and works but here’s my analysis so far.
I won’t lie, I discovered tumblr when I was 18 specifically for RPing, so that does to an extent make up a big aspect of my thoughts, and I want to share it with both people who intend to be regular users and roleplayers in general.
Good aspects of pillowfort:
Community system is a feature not given by tumblr or twitter, and in an era where forums are becoming more of a niche if this takes off you’ll be able to experience forum-based interaction in addition to everything else.
Community system also gives a place to users who don’t like interacting with people heavily and so publicly like twitter and tumblr a place to use the site even if their blog itself is relatively untouched.
When you delete an OP post it deletes it from everyone else’s blog too. So if something goes bad with a post or you get embarrassed, blam! Its gone everywhere. Of course, this also means we might lose some good posts now and then...
Able to make reblogs and stuff private like on twitter.
Pillowfort’s TOS protects your intellectual property as an artist.
Built-in blocklist.
You can export your blog to your new pillowfort account.
ToS regarding harassing, callouts, mob mentality and the like specifically exists to oppress kinblr for the most part is very fair and reasonable and is specifically designed to keep the site relatively drama-free and actively punishing those who create lots of problems. People who do not like the drama associated with this website or the feeling of screwing up will be relieved by that.
When it works, the actual system for styling your post basically already has absolutely everything you could already want:

Bad aspects of pillowfort:
THE SITE DOESN’T FUCKING WORK YET YOU CAN’T USE THE WEBSITE IN ITS CURRENT STATE WITHOUT IT CRAPPING OUT EVERY 10 SECONDS.
I’m not saying that to be sarcastic or anything I genuinely cannot recommend the site in its current state until pillowfort’s team can stabilize the servers. As it is I can only recommend it if you’re determined to snag a good canon url now. It has a small anime community (rn its mostly Marvel) and not too much of a gaming community yet so... if it does take off now’s your chance to snag one-word name urls and just kinda bide your time until its actually functioning, that’s certainly an idea. I’m very happy I was able to get the dream url there that I wasn’t able to get here... but with the site Error 500ing me so much I can’t really use it.
We‘re still not 100% what the NSFW situation actually is, as the TOS is vague and there are conflicting beliefs about what .io’s policy on NSFW actually is. If you’re coming SPECIFICALLY because of the NSFW ban that’s going to be implemented I would encourage you to wait until we have 100% confirmation. Personally I like it already enough even if tumblr were to reverse the situation I think I’d use this place. I think Pillowfort really needs to come clear about this very soon, because if they don’t and people learn that “oh we can’t host NSFW after all,” despite claiming it a lot of people are gonna want their money back or at least wait until its free to use. The general belief is that as long as you don’t post NSFW in tags that doesn’t belong (like porn in #gardening) then it should be fine... so they say. We really need pillowfort to address people’s concerns, even though I think it’ll be fine, as this is a major reason why people are considering the move. The staff of pillowfort have said on twitter that they are in the process of finding a new domain. As such, as of this moment, pillowfort does not allow for nsfw. However, it will in the future. The best thing to do is be patient until then, I think the goods outweight hte bads.
Even though it’ll go away in 2019 you kinda. Gotta pay to use it right now. That’s kind of a thing.
No sideblog feature nor do I believe its planned, but I do believe the pillowfort team wants a system like the twitter app to quickly switch between full blogs.
While some people might consider this a plus, being able to add onto a post with text or photos has been a staple of both tumblr and twitter since the beginning. I see this changing as a major factor of whether or not people make the big move.
MCU, Detroit Become Human, Supernatural, and apparently hockey (and maybe Overwatch?) are the only big fandoms right now. While that already appeals to a lot of people, those of us into anime and the like have relatively few blogs from what we’ve seen. While this might change as time goes on, at least for the time being, anime and video game bloggers aren’t gonna have a lot for us. On the other hand, though? This also gives you the opportunity to make your claim as a fandom content creator.
Inability to make Communities private (right now) leaves that at potential risks of being raided.
(Minor) No custom themes it looks like, but that might be fore the better in the same vain? In your blog desc you can still link to other sites so now might be a good time to get used to listography instead of relying on custom links. To an extent you can control the colors of your blog though. Some people who hate eye-strainy themes on here or autodirect themes might actually find this a plus.
(Minor/Niche) Blogs themselves are bad for RPing if you’re into that. The forums however seem to provide an adequate place for forum-based RPing. But this would also make forum administrators responsible for upholding standards like “not jumping into other people’s RPs” and basic RP etiquette we have here. And forum-based rping would make finding RP partners outside of tags like #anime rp, #indie rp, etc to find people’s promos easier, depending on which becomes more popular. Even if you can add onto posts if you can’t trim the posts like we can on here (ty x-kit) it’d result in extremely long threads that would clog the dashboard significantly. I personally HIGHLY doubt the ability to edit other people’s posts or cut out replies will ever be a thing, so chances are RPing on pillowfort are gonna be Community-oriented and not on dash. At most people will make IC posts meant to be replied to and the like and headcanon memes while keeping actually threading in Communities, which will very well rely on the Community itself to be Not Shit.
Lacks instant messaging in its current state.
Despite the fact the bad really outweighs the good... I liked what little I could do. It genuinely feels like the only “true” tumblr alternative out there, even though its in beta. I just can’t really say much until the servers stabilize. This website is still in beta, so of course it has a lot of issues to work out, and of course it doesn’t have all the features this 11+ year old website has. I’m just stating these so people who are making the move who used this as their main website are aware of that.
I’m very excited to see this website grow, though!

what app do you use to do the drawings? i don’t use any app. i draw with paper and pen or with my ipad in procreate.

Endgame Spoilers
Sorry, had to delete the original version of this because I tried to make an edit on my phone and it messed up my formatting. So this post is full of massive spoilers for Endgame. Seriously. Don’t open it if you’ve not seen the movie yet - it’s not going to make sense to you anyway. If you have seen it and you’re confused by some of the sci-fi mechanics of the movie, this might help...
Alright I’m seeing a lot of confusion around what is happening with the time travel in Endgame, so I’m going to do my best to explain my understanding of how it works. This is based on one viewing that took place at midnight, so there are almost certainly mistakes. I hope you’ll forgive me for them.
Time travel in stories works in many different ways, here are some of the main ones:
A. Back to the Future style – changing events in the past changes the future, BUT doesn’t change you. So when you go forwards in time again you might find you no longer exist or your Mum has married an asshole, and you’re aware these things have changed. B. Almost Back to the Future style (sorry can’t think of a good example for this) – changing events in the past changes the future and does affect you. This could mean the future version of you just vanishes or you become a different person. Basically that future is wiped out but the actions relating to time travel that you took in that future still must have happened. It’s a paradox but we roll with it. The possible negative consequences of this for the time-travelling version of you are pretty limitless, but on a positive you’ll never know about them.
C. The Azkaban Approach – this is how time travel exists in the Harry Potter universe (we do not speak of Cursed Child). Basically you cannot change the past/present/future by time travel. Whatever happens has already happened. You may, however, have to make sure those things happen.
D. The Discworld Dilemma (sorry, I can’t resist alliteration) – basically history wants to happen how it’s supposed to happen, although you might try to change things it will basically begin to heal itself one way or another – unless wizards, Death, gods or mystical monks living in the mountains get involved. This is more or less how Doctor Who works too.
E. Multi-verse Mechanics – basically every possible action every person in the universe is taking is creating infinite other alternate versions of that universe ALL THE TIME. When you change something by time travel you end up in a different alternate. I guess this is really similar to A/B depending on what happens to the you skipping between the universes – it’s just a different way of thinking about it.
In the movie they specifically say that A and B won’t work – because this movie-verse won’t allow time-paradoxes. Version D also clearly doesn’t work. And we can rule out E based on the Ancient One’s comments to Bruce about parallel realities being BAD and damaging your current universe (although that in itself raises issues with a lot of other comic-verse stuff). I’m going to come back to C later. Which leaves us with what Endgame is doing:
F. Personal timelines must be linear – i.e. your personal timeline may take place in lots of different timeframes, going backwards and forwards in time, without issue UNLESS you affect a past version of yourself. In that case the A and B paradox issues kicks in and, as you may end up not being the version of you that went time travelling in the first place, you (and the universe) is probably fucked.    - This is why they can’t bring the dusted back until after they complete the actions to reverse Thanos’ actions – i.e. you couldn’t have them dusted and un-dusted instantaneously. Because if you did that none of the things that happened in the intervening five years would happen and you wouldn’t become the people with the capability to undo the dusting and then you have a massive paradox.    - Obviously it’s more complicated than just your personal actions, because any person who’s actions you change could end up altering the course of the future. Even moving an object a few feet could have massive unseen consequences.    - This means that during the time travel heist the least interaction with the past they can manage the better. For example, if Steve had gone into the lift and killed or seriously hurt any of the hydra agents – that could easily change the future, because that person could have done something in the future that contributed to the circumstances in the present etc...    - Because of this there is absolutely no way for people, primarily Steve, to go back and alter historical issues in his own timeline - i.e. he can’t stop the rise of Hyrda or save Bucky any earlier without fucking up the entire universe.
The team’s inability to not alter anything in the past and (possibly) their active decisions to change things obviously presents us with some issues, here are some of the ones I’ve seen discussed/was confused by myself and how/if they’re resolved in the story: 
- Thanos and his chums – Thanos going forward to the future before he ever used the infinity stones and then being destroyed obviously creates a massive paradox. Luckily Tony is more than smart enough to realise this, so we can assume that what he actually did was send Thanos and his army back to before they intercepted Nebula’s consciousness. This puts all of Infinity Wars/Endgame into a fixed time-loop that will always play out the same. Although I can understand the symbolic significance of making what happened look like the dusting, I sort of wish they’d given it a green glow or mentioned the time loop or something to make this clearer. [RESOLVED – though not firmly stated in the movie]**
- The stones/Mjolnir not being where they need to be. Presumably we just need to accept Steve’s mission has put all this right, although I don’t remember him having anything big enough to be carrying the sceptre (it was 3am though, so maybe there was) – so we’re going to just have to imagine how he restored all the stones to their former states. [RESOLVED]
- Present-Steve telling Past-Steve about Bucky – luckily this was an easy fix as he was holding the mind stone at the time and we see him use it to wipe Steve’s memory of the encounter. [RESOLVED]
- Loki vanishing with the tesseract – both versions of the tesseract we see in this movie need to be put back and whilst the Shield base version is *relatively* simple (let’s not ask how many Steve Roger’s are running about New York at a time), Loki’s is not - this one we don’t see resolved in this story. We could assume that Steve fixes it during his mission, using the tesseract he has to track down Loki before returning it to the Shield base. However, I think it’s more likely we will see the solution to this either in the Loki tv show or Guardian’s 3. [UNRESOLVED]
- Impact of knocking out Quill/Tony’s heart attack/the lift people thinking Steve is Hydra etc. – basically I could see ways that all the “small” changes we see in the movie could have fundamentally important impacts. Tony thinking his heart is failing? Wouldn’t that impact his behaviour afterwards? Quill waking up and realising he was randomly unconscious for an unknown length of time? None of this is really resolved in the story, but we’re just going to have to assume it didn’t really as the universe didn’t explode. [RESOLVED???]
- Steve marrying Peggy – I think this is the one I’ve seen most people frustrated by, because it seems the hugest change, and this is where I’m coming back to C. I think the Azkaban Approach is in play here, with a side order of Doctor/River weirdness. Steve ALWAYS married Peggy. I went back and watched their meeting in the hospice again last night and if you look at her pictures on the bedside table, there are pictures of her with her kids but not her husband, BECAUSE her husband is Steve and they knew they couldn’t risk having photos of him on display/anyone finding out. The Peggy we see in that hospital bed knows she can’t tell that version of Steve they were married, because he hasn’t defeated Thanos yet. And she knows she has to allow him to suffer and lose everyone and defeat Thanos because the future-Steve that came back in time to marry her, told her about it. There’s the River and Doctor weirdness for you, their timelines are not in sync, they meet each other out of order (for Peggy at any rate) but with secrecy and carefulness they can make it work. And they know they can make it work because they already did. I love it but I can understand it’s a bit of a head-fuck. And, of course, there are cruelties to it. Steve can’t tackle Hydra taking over Shield or Bucky being tortured because if he does it causes a paradox and the universe is destroyed. That must be terrible but at least that version of Steve knows how it all works out, knows he left Bucky healthy and happy and as much at peace as it is possible to be. [RESOLVED – at least for me]
OK – what did I miss? What still doesn’t make any sense? Any other thoughts? – Although please be careful to tag things properly if commenting, so people don’t get accidentally spoilt.
** Extra note – I have seen a lot of discussion about where Endgame leaves Gamora and basically we don’t know. Which is cool. It all comes down to how Tony worded/understood his use of the infinity stones. If he wished everyone who was out of time back to their correct times, she’s gone and probably trapped in the time loop (although now time travel is an active super hero skill, who knows). If it was more along the lines of him sending the people they were fighting against back to their correct times, the fact that she had already switched times might have saved her. She’ll still be past-Gamora but she’s out there in the present somewhere.

Hello, lovelies,
What a way to start a post, eh? I just wanted to stop by and explain a little bit. Explain what? Why I actually made this blog and what I’m gonna do with it. Thank you already for reading and following this little blog if you pushed the magical button looking like a chess piece! You made me very happy.
This is going to be a long post so I’ll put it under the tag.
I’ve written stories (fiction and non-fiction) since I was 8 years old and it has been my passion ever since. Nowadays it’s more of a rule than an exception that I might be writing or at least thinking about a story when you see me. Becoming an author has been my dream since the beginning. This road has been bumpy, more than not may I say, but I never have stopped. I found my passion as that little girl who hardly had any idea of a world around her and I’m still that little girl inside my head as a 20-year-old. During these past 12 years I’ve faced a lot of good and bad stuff, and writing has always been there helping me to get through all that. I know that other writers here can relate to the feeling of escaping from all the bad things and thoughts and just diving into the magical world of your stories. 
I admit: I’m an escapist. 
What I also admit: I’m sweating. Like, literally sweating right now. During these 12 years I’ve also neglected the possibility to actually post my writings anywhere simply because it has made me feel anxious. I don’t know why but pressing that little button called ‘post’ has always given me chills. I’ve done it a few times in the past but never got the routine like some people seem to have. I look at the people posting their fics here or to AO3 or to the Finnish fanfiction forum I read quite often, and I think to myself that damn... these people have something I can only dream of. Posting my writing has made me scared. I’ve let people read my stories, though; my friends have read them, my mother and some other family members have read them, my Finnish teacher(s) have read them. And they have always said the same thing: these are good, post them somewhere, at least send them to the people who read novels and comment them.
The thing is I know I’m not a shitty writer. I kinda like my style, but I cannot say I like every story I’ve written. That’s normal, every writer writes complete shit sometimes and has to delete parts which had 5,000 words. Sucks, right? I’ve done that. I’ve deleted miles of my writing just because it has been total shit. I regret it sometimes. I could’ve edited it; it could’ve become something worth living. But no.
The other thing is: I’ve always written in Finnish. It’s my native language, it has felt the safest. I’ve been able to express myself the way I’ve wanted, twist the words and structure as much as I like, tried different styles and dynamics. It has been fun, and I’ve found my own style during these little experiments. I started to study English at school in 3rd grade. I always liked it, watched movies and read books eagerly to learn more and more. I was quite good. My teachers told me my writing was smooth and I have this noticeable style, courage to try new things. Well, okay, fine... I decided to try. I wrote a fanfic in English. It died before it was even two pages long. I lost faith. I left it there and continued my other writings. 
Back in the summer of 2016 I got inspired by some of my writer friends around here and one of them pushed me to try; I translated one of my Marvel fanfics from Finnish to English and posted it with shaking hands. I tagged some people I thought might like it, and people actually liked it. So much that I decided to write a sequel, in English since the beginning this time. It surprised me that it wasn’t that hard after all. People liked it as well. But I lost my faith again. Continued to write in Finnish and pushed English aside. A lot later I started to write a The Walking Dead fanfic me and my friend had planned - in English. At the same time I wrote some small drabbles, too. The fic died, I never continued those drabbles. And while feeling like I had betrayed my friend I wrote the fic for, I also found the reason why everything died in my arms: I didn’t think I was good enough. I didn’t think people could understand my writing, my English. 
I let it be and started to work with this thought. It took a lot of time from me to finally accept it. I’ve always been a perfectionist, punished myself more than cheered. Didn’t help this time, either. I’ve always wanted to keep up, wanted to succeed and do well, but I also have this habit of pushing myself too far, and it revenges itself. At one point I decided to leave this thought, let it live in the back of my head (which never shuts up, there are always too many thoughts swirling around) and I focused on those projects I had fallen in love with, held dear and wanted to finish. 
Then came this spring, it was the hardest for me so far for so many reasons. I lost words. I wasn’t able to write at all. All the stories were there inside my head, swirled around and knocked on the door to the part of my head from which I could set them free. With a pencil or a computer, doesn’t really matter. But they never got to that part. I was stuck. And it ate me alive because I had always been able to survive from everything because of writing. Now I started to think that why the hell to even try when even words leave me. I struggled and struggled, cried probably more than ever because of writing – I was so desperate. In the beginning of July I finally got them back. And that was also the moment of realizing many things; one of them was that if I really want it, why not to at least try. No matter how scared it makes me – hell, the trick is not minding that it hurts. I’m not ready to fall back into that pit where I hardly even know who I am; it was even more painful without words. There was one certain moment I realized I still have the ability to be strong. I’m not ready to give up anymore. They go head first to the tree, right? Why am I not doing that? I should. I have nothing to lose.
That’s why I’m writing this now. That’s the reason why I made this blog. I’m going to push myself; to write in English, to post what I wrote. It’s going to be hard and I cannot promise anything but I will try. Kick me if you see me giving up or disappearing totally because that’s not what I should be doing. I’m going to the tree and my head is going first. The description says that my requests are open. They are; you can request something, whatever. I’m sorry if I don’t write it or if it takes time, I’m still new to this whole “I’m writing stories in different language than my own and posting them” thing but maybe I will become a part of it.

Subscriber Desperation
((I make one “Youtube’s not a real job” joke on skaian-heretic’s post and suddenly I’m making Jacksfilms jokes and writing a goddamn crackfic featuring Ardata. I’ll be fair...I’m not sure exactly how IC this is for Ardata, and more importantly I’m not sure I care. This was just for some hopefully dumb humor.))
“I cannot believe Grubtube changed their algorithm! And to attempt to introduce user feedback. The nerve…” the blueblood typing furiously on her keyboard scowled deeply. “No wonder I’ve lost so many subscribers.”
Naturally, due to Ardata’s high status and sinister persona, the number of people commenting on her work in comparison to her views was low. But for sweeps, such hadn’t been a problem. She always managed to keep on top of Grubtube’s changing formulas to keep her on the top of trending tags for weeks. Obtain subscribers by occasionally making a video unrelated to your regular content, then push them to watch your other videos? Early on, of course, but she did. Get trolls to click on a video they’d hold no interest in through thumbclaws and titles promising sexual content that only appeared for seconds? Easy. Falsely inflate her video lengths through elongated intros and outros? Simple. But getting people to interact with her videos aside from a like? Impossible. Lowblood trolls wouldn’t comment on her videos to keep their olfactories safe from her, and higherbloods had better things to do with her time than leave a comment on a video involving brutal murder when they wouldn’t have to comment much in an online redblock. She had better things to do with her time.
With a frustrated groan, she clicked over to her imitators’ profiles. She needed some sort of method to make her look - Ardata shuddered at the mere thought of it - approachable. Enough so they might comment on her videos. Unfortunately for her, almost every profile she scanned did something different. Many relied on sponsorships from small, Internet companies. Some engaged in online feuds. And if those acts weren’t reprehensible on her own, others were worse. She held far too much pride to tell her subscribers to “smash the flush/pitched buttons” if they felt any strong feelings or run videos ran wholly on content produced by commenters. Her videos were art. The gutterbloods in her basement, her muse. Commenters weren’t allowed to dictate the type of art she produced, even if they drove her numbers up.
However, the longer she scrolled through her competition, she realized they all did something she hadn’t ever quite done. Many of these trolls seemed eager to talk about themselves in front of the camera with questions supplied by subscribers. Ardata did enjoy talking about herself. And, while she preferred working behind the camera as the director with complicated shots and angles to truly capture the spirit of the poor troll, an easy night of sitting at a camera and talking sounded just that: easy. She made the announcement on both Chittr and her most recent Grubtube video, informing them of an upcoming Q&A so please send your questions now.
The results were instantaneous. Her most recent video’s view count hit record highs within hours, placing it firmly in Grubtube’s top trending videos. Questions flooded her video, her Chittir, her inbox, anywhere they felt they could send them. For the first time in perigees - the first time since meeting that odd little alien - she was a big Grubtuber again. Famous. Esteemed. She set an established date for a full livestream set to be hours long (again, good for the algorithm), and pulled all the questions to be used from a random generator. So close to re-achieving the fame she once had on Grubtube she’d never have to try again if she wanted to. She set everything up the night before, from her husktop littered with questions to the camera itself.
Her preparations made the filming easy. She only had to start up the livestream on Grubtube, waiting for the red light to indicate she started filming and grimace menacingly at the camera. Of course, she made herself look equally enticing and imposing on her black couch, but that was just her regular aesthetic. To do anything else was disingenuous. “Hello. I’m sure you’re all here to watch Alternia’s best up-and-coming filmmaker on Grubtube answer your questions.” She smirked. “I’m so flattered you could make it. Unsurprised, judging by your ridiculous interest in my personal life, but flattered. So, let’s get this started before I lose interest.”
The first set of questions her husktop pulled up were straightforward. Trolls asked her about simple questions about her personal life: everything from her lusus to her quadrants, on top of numerous questions about all sorts of favorites. One even asked her about dayglow, and if she preferred it to other poisons. Ardata gave the viewers of the stream cryptic answers. After all, she didn’t really want to talk about her private life. She didn’t even want to answer questions at all. This was all just to please the Grubtube algorithm and gain her viewership back.
About halfway through the questions, after a slog of political minefields seemingly only there to upset some subjuggalator watching her videos, the questions started to get...well...weird. “‘Ardata,’” she read, “‘I’m a huge fan of your videos, but I gotta ask, I keep dabbing on my haters like other grubtubers told me to, but sometimes they dab back. I haven’t gotten an answer from them yet. Please help, I’m scared.”
Ardata’s smirk twisted into a dark frown. “If you’re scared, don’t dab at them. Shouldn’t that be simple?”
She flipped over to the next one, reading “Ardata? What’s your opinion on the film ‘The Funny Faces on Your Palm Husk Develop Personalities of Their Own Separate of the Ones They Are Supposed to Emote in a Sellout Family Comedy Featuring An Overabundance of Propaganda and Product Placement, The Plot Relying Wholly On Overused Concepts Done Better in Other Films? I heard it’s a visual masterpiece.” She scowled. “What kind of question is this? Did anyone even go see that refuse incinerator heap of a film?” She scoffed. “Please. Next question.”
She flipped down through the comments, reading many of them outloud as she skipped them. Ardata, when will you start giving us sponsorships at the end of your videos? Can’t wait to skip all of them!
Ardata, has anyone told you your lusus is half as cute as JuhannFlicks’ barkbeast?
Ardata, when will you do a collaboration with a screaming Grubtuber?
Have you considered what it feels like to be like us, an asshole talking to a camera?

Over and over. The whole middle portion of Q&A seemed like...shitposts. Pure and idiotic shitposts. Her scowl deepend. “Understand, viewers, these questions are so inane I’m not even giving them a thought. Now, this one, since I ignored so many…” she flitted her gaze over to the next post, not even bothering to check to see what it said, “this one I’ll answer.”
Hey Ardata, how does it feel to know that you have no skills for the Ordeals because we all know Grubtube’s not a real job?
She paused, blinking slowly. Anger swelled in the pit of her stomach. How dare some troll insist what she did wasn’t a job! She profited, didn’t she? “I assure you, viewer, what I do is very real. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here right now,” she said tightly. “Now, let’s move on to the--”
She gasped. A whole slew of comments, none of them from the same troll, all asked the same question. Worded differently, but functionally the same. Grubtube’s not a real job.
“Q&A’s over early. I won’t be doing another one,” she snarled. With a quick snap of her wrist, the husktop clicked shut, ending the stream immediately.
It wasn’t until she sat there for several minutes, fuming silently, that she realized what she did. But it was too late now. She’d have to find another way to bring in new viewers through other means, and hope her outburst only drove minimal numbers away.

Meanwhile, Juhann Scanan, popular oliveblooded comedic Grubtuber, watched the whole stream with anticipation. His lusus, a tiny little fluffy barkbeast he affectionately called Klondike, nipped at his arm. Normally he wasn’t interested in the drama of Grubtube, but the fall of Ardata Carmia was equal parts funny and necessary. Grubtube held enough bloodshed without yet another redblock wannabe hogging all the attention.
The video ended with a loud click, and Grubtube shoved him off the video onto her regular profile. The same question his followers asked over and over, she couldn’t even handle once.
Juhann laughed. Maybe it wasn’t the kindest idea to let his followers know he sent in one bizarre question about dabbing after making a song that happened to reference this Grubtube redblock trend.. But the bubbly satisfied feeling watching another villain of the website crumble under their own infamy felt justified, in a way. If you can’t adjust to the changing tides of a constantly evolving website, you’d fall behind. Ardata, and any other troll who mistakes ultraviolence for art and content, relying wholly on a supervillain status for popularity, would fall victim for that.
“Okay Klondike, get off me,” he said. “I gotta finish editing for tomorrow. Gotta finish that song.”
Klondike yipped happily in his face, making no attempt to move. Moving seemed out of the question. Juhann stretched, smiling sleepily at his lusus and yawning. “Fine,” he said with a light pat of the barkbeast’s head. Editing could wait for a day. “You win. I’ll sleep.”

Hypereconomic Diplomacy Rules
They’re going below the cut. It was 17 pages in MS Word and I’m copying and pasting them here without any editing. Fingers crossed that some of the formatting carries over. Maps and maybe tables to follow in separate posts. You can search my blog for diplomacy or hypereconomic diplomacy to easily find all these posts. They’re tagged as such.
The Rules of Hypereconomic Diplomacy Mk. III 1. The rules of regular Diplomacy apply, except where detailed below: 2. The basic unit of time is the season of which there are four per game year; Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn in that order. The first season of the game is Winter 1914.
Basic Economics 1. The economics of the game are based on four types of 'factors'; Gold ($), Manpower (M), Agricultural (A) and Industrial (I). Each nation has a stockpile of factors available for use at the start of the game. This stockpile is subject to increase and decrease during each season, due to actions of the player and other nations. 2. A & I factors are spent by a nation in each season for various purposes. These factors are subtracted from a nation’s stockpile. Once thus subtracted these factors are removed from the game. See tables 1 through 4 for a list of A & I costs. 3. Each province has an A & I ‘yield’ at the beginning of the game. This is the number of factors of either type which are added to the stockpile of the nation of which the province is a part. 4. Each season can be split into two sections which are independent of one another. First, ‘costs’ in which a nation performs and pays for all of its’ actions that turn; and second, ‘income’ in which a nation receives factors from various sources. 5. A nation may only spend on actions, factors which it had at the Start of Season (SOS). Thus a nation may not spend more than it has SOS on costs even though it may be receiving more factors during the income section. 6. The A & I yields may be temporarily decreased by: a. Sabotage & Guerilla Warfare according to tables 14-16. See Rules VIII 1-3. b. Military Action. If a province is attacked (successfully or otherwise) by unfriendly units, then the province does not yield. c. Winter. All provinces have their A yield reduced by 50% in each winter. Factors are rounded up to the greatest whole factor in favor of the greater yield. Although the game begins in Winter 1914, there is no Winter halving for this season. Any alteration due to the above three is transitory and only in force for the appropriate season. 7. The A & I yields may be permanently increased by “Research”. In any turn in which an API or IPI is assigned to a province, the yield from that province is increased by 1A or 1I (depending on the type of PI). The yield from that province then remains at that new level for all succeeding turns. (See section V). 8. The number of A’s in a stockpile is reduced each season by deterioration. This reduction consists of ¼ of the total number of A’s in that stockpile at SOS before any other costs have been paid. All fractions are rounded up in favor of the greater loss, with exception that a stockpile of 1A does not alter. 9. $ factors represent the total money available for use by a nation. They are spent from the nation’s stockpile, but unlike A & I are not removed from game; The total $ expenditure by a nation in a season goes into the ‘escrow’ of the nation in which the money was spent. During the income section of each season, one-fifth (0.2) of the $ which was in the escrow of a nation at SOS is transferred from escrow (E) to the on-hand $ stockpile. Fractions are rounded up in favor of the greatest income. Note that there is no net increase or decrease of overall $ in a nation by this transfer. 10. M factors represent the manpower of a nation that can be used in a military context. Each turn a nation yields a certain number of M (see table 18). At the end of any turn in which a nation cannot satisfy the ‘starvation requirements’ (see table 19) it loses 1M for each 1A short of the required amount. M factors are assigned to military units and installations when they are built (for costs see table 1). Thereafter, while the unit remains in existence those M factors are tied up in it. If the unit or installation is disbanded then the M factors are returned to the stockpile of the owning nation. M factors can only be destroyed in battle. A unit which experiences any casualties according to table 6 suffers no effect in itself (it is assumed reinforcements are always available). The casualties are met from the stockpile of the nation which owns the units. If there are insufficient Ms, then the unit is demobilized, and the Ms are returned to the stockpile. If a unit is annihilated in battle then the Ms in the unit are destroyed. No casualties will be assessed against an owning nation’s stockpile for an annihilated unit’s casualties. 11. If a nation orders actions which cost in excess of the factors available to the nation, then some actions will be failed. The order of failure is laid out in table 5 and orders will be failed until the expenses can be covered. If there is more than one order in a category to be failed then they are failed by chance, determined by the GM. A nation may wish to supercede the GM’s table with one of his own, but this only lasts for the season indicated unless otherwise specified.
2. Territorial Provisions
1. Every province in the game is part of a particular nation. Some nations consist of one province and others of several. Each nation is controlled by one (or more) players. However each player is considered to have only one “home nation”. Other nations which are subordinate to that nation are known as territories. There is no difference between “home nations” and territories in their functions. 2. Provinces can be transferred from one nation to another either peacefully (by cession) or by combat (by conquest). a. Cession: A nation may cede (cd) one or more provinces to another nation. It takes place after costs have been paid and before any income is received. If a province is ceded to a nation it may be annexed (an), provided it is within the limitations of rule 2.4 that turn, in which case yields go to the annexing nation. If the province is not annexed then the yields go to a new territory formed by that province and subordinate to the receiving nation and a charge of $1 is levied against the receiving nation for forming a new nation. b. Conquest: A province is conquered when it successfully attacked by an unfriendly unit. It then becomes a territory subordinate to the conquering nation and consisting of that province. Note that in general a nation’s stockpile is unaffected by the transfer of provinces. 3. There are two types of ownership of provinces, lawful or ‘de jure’ and actual or ‘de facto’. At the beginning of the game all provinces have the same de jure and de facto owners. De facto ownership can be transferred in two ways, by cession or by conquest. De jure ownership is acquired either by cession or by having a de facto ownership of the province for four consecutive seasons during which the province is not subject to attack, sabotage or guerilla warfare. The de facto owner has complete control of the province except that he may not build National Guards there. 4. To be eligible for annexation, a province must be adjacent to at least one province of the annexing nation or be separated by no more than one sea province at the beginning and end of the season in which the province is annexed. The province’s yield goes to the stockpile of the annexing nation. A province may not be annexed to a nation and ceded to another in the same season. 5. A new nation may be established from provinces belonging to one or more nations. Each province of a new nation must border on at least one other province of the new nation or be separated from it by no more than one sea space. A maximum of four original provinces may be part of a new nation at the time of its creation unless all the provinces were part of the same nation. In this latter case there is no limit. The cost of forming a new nation is $1 per province.
A new nation is considered to be formed after costs, and before income. The yields of the provinces thus go to the new nation’s stockpile, in the season of its creation. Factors can be transferred from the stockpiles of nations contributing provinces to the new nation. 6. If at any time, and for any reason, it comes to be such that its provinces are not contiguous (or separated by only one sea province) that nation will be split into as many nations as is necessary to remove all non-contiguous provinces from the parent nation. When a nation is so split, its stockpile will be divided among the various new nations so formed in proportion to the number of provinces going to each part. No charge will be made for the formation of the new nation. 7. A nation may be eliminated from the game in two ways: a. Cession: A nation may cede all of its provinces to another nation as described in rule 2.2. The assets of the nation may be distributed among the ceded provinces, except escrow which is divided in proportion to the number of provinces. b.  Conquest: When the last province(s) of a nation is conquered, a Government in Exile (GIE) is formed for the conquered nation. The assets and stockpiles of the nation are then distributed as follows:
The GIE receives:
½ of the $ stockpile
½ of the Trs belonging to the nation (see section IV)
All the FFs (see section VII)
Any research teams (see section V)
½ of any $ in banks (see section VI)
The nation formed by the conquest receives:
½ the $ stockpile
½ of the A & I stockpiles
½ of the Trs
Control of the banks with ½ of the $ in them
The escrow of the nation
The following are destroyed:
½ of the A & I stockpile
Any fractions formed by any of the apportionments
The M stockpile goes into ‘hiding’ and should a GIE regain control over a province of its former nation they come out and are credited to the nation.
Should two or more provinces be lost simultaneously, then there will be two or more territories formed. What is shown above as going to the formed territory would then be equally split among the different provinces. Any further fractions thus created are also destroyed. 8. Orders for a GIE are written by the player of the eliminated nation. At the end of the second turn following its creation a GIE must have located itself in a province, or else it is permanently destroyed. This is the only way a player’s position may be destroyed. To locate itself in a province, the owner of that province must write an order permitting it. Once located in a province a GIE assumes the attributes of a bank (see section VI), with the exception that it may not invest in the World Market. The Trs owned by the GIE are considered to be located in the host nation, until moved elsewhere.
3. Military
1. There are three types of military unit: Divisions (D), Task Forces (T) and National Guards (N). Ds and Ns are land units (corresponding to regular Diplomacy armies) and Ts are naval units (corresponding to fleets). All three are of equal strength in battle. Ds and Ts are offensive units. Ns are defensive units and may not attack or give support to an attack. They may never move from the province in which they are built. 2. There are two types of installations, Armories (Y) and Shipyards (S). A Y must exist in a province before a D is built there and an S must exist in a province before a T is built there – and on the same coast as the T is built (if the province is multi-coastal). 3. A maximum of four military units, regardless of type, may exist in a province simultaneously. 4. At the start of the game, there are no military units of any type in the world. 5. The provinces of Switzerland and Nepal are special. Only Ns may be built in Switzerland and while Switzerland remains an integral nation, it may never be attacked by military units. Nepal may never be entered and can be ignored for all purposes of the game. Building Military Units 6. Military units may be built in any season in any province of the nation doing the building (subject to rules 3.2, 3, 4, 5 & 7). Defensive units do not require installations but are subject to other restrictions. Economic factors (M, A, I) used to build units and installations must be paid from the stockpile of the nation in which the build takes place. See table 1. 7. A maximum of 1 military unit, regardless of type, may be built in a province in any one season. 8. If a province in which a build is ordered is attacked in the same season (successfully or otherwise) the build fails. 9. National Guards may be built in any province over which the building nation has de jure ownership. No more than one N may exist in a province at one time. 10. To help players write orders, and to maintain the sanity of the GM in keeping track of battle situations, offensive units are given a number when acquired. The designation consists of a number – 8 for the eighth unit acquired – and a letter designating the type, T or D; 7T, 14D etc. Note that a designation is not necessary for a National Guard. Of course, should the unit change hands it will change designation. Installations 11. An installation may be built in any season in any province of the building nation subject to the following restrictions: a. An S may not be built in a non-coastal province. b. A maximum of one Y and one S may exist in a province at any one time, with one exception – a multi-coastal province may contain one S on each coast. When an S is built in a multi-coastal province its coast must be designated. 12. A Y or an S may not be used for building a military unit in the season in which the installation is built. However, once it is built, there is no limit to the number of military units built there. 13. An existing installation may be demobilized by its owner at any time (see rule 3.21). 14. If a province containing a Y or an S is captured the M from the installation is returned to the stockpile of the former owner in the same manner as if the installation had been demobilized. The conqueror of the province has the option to ‘man’ the captured installation. The following turn the installation becomes like any other installation owned by the conqueror. Maintenance of Military Units & Installations 15. A certain number of $, M, A and I factors must be spent each season to maintain existing military units and installations. Maintenance costs vary with the type, location and actions of the units. Maintenance costs for installations depend on the type of the installation (see table 2). 16. The maintenance costs of a unit or installation must be paid for from either the stockpile of the nation in which the unit is located at the start of the season, or from the stockpile of the nation to whom the unit or installation belongs at the SOS. Maintenance costs may be divided between these two sources. If the supply source is not specified in a nation’s orders, it will be assumed to be from the nation which owns the unit or installation. 17. If a unit or installation is located in a province which is not part of the nation which owns it and if part or all of its costs are paid from the stockpile of the owning nation a ‘supply route’ must be provided. This supply route is a chain of contiguous provinces including the province in which the unit or installation is situated, and a province of the owning nation.
For finding the length of any given route note that 1 sea province is equal to 2 land provinces. The route chosen is provided by the GM and will be the shortest unblocked one (see rule 4.5). For every three provinces in the route there will be a charge of 1I for that unit on top of the cost for its actions. Odd distances (1 or 2 provinces) count as a full extra I for that unit. Thus a route which was 2 sea provinces and 3 land provinces would cause an increase of 3I in the cost of the unit’s maintenance. Ownership of Military Units 18. A military unit is initially owned by the nation which owned the installation which built it. Ownership of an existing unit may be transferred (tf) to another nation at any time, including the season in which the unit is built. 19. Transfer of a military unit is effective after costs have been assessed. In other words maintenance costs for a transferred unit are paid for by the old owner in the season of the transfer. Once the transfer of a unit is completed the receiving nation is treated as the owner of the unit for all purposes. 20. An N may be transferred only if the province in which it is located is simultaneously ceded to or annexed to the new owner of the nation. In other words, an N may only exist in the nation which owns it. Generally when a province is ceded to a nation it is taken as including the N in residence. Demobilization of Military Units & Installations 21. A military unit or installation may be demobilized in any season. The order to demobilize (de) takes effect at the beginning of the season in which the order is written, before military actions are adjudicated and before costs are assessed. The Ms that are released by the demobilization (see rule 1.10) are returned to the owning nation at the same time as other income is credited. A unit or installation may also be demobilized involuntarily as a result of shortages in an owning nation’s stockpile (see rule 1.11). Manpower Casualties 22. Casualties (M) are assessed from the stockpile of the nation that owned the military unit itself, since it is assumed that reinforcements are always available. Ms are assessed according to table 6.
Casualties are computed per nation, per season for each province or borderline area in which units are clashing, regardless of how many units or nations are taking part in the battle. In a complex battle (more than 1 to 1), casualties are assessed on the bases of the maximum possible rate which can be calculated. Since this is a little difficult to understand a few examples are given under table 6. 23. There are four basic orders which can be given to a military unit, ‘stand’ (st), ‘hold’ (ho), ‘move’ (mo) and ‘attack’ (at). A unit may be ordered to ‘support’ (sp) another unit which is ordered to hold or attack. Ds may be shipped across sea spaces by being ‘shipped’ (see rules 4.6 & 4.7). 24. ‘Friendly’ units are defined as units which are owned by the same nation or by nations which are members of the same alliance (see rule 4.36-39). A land province is friendly with respect to a unit in the province if it is part of the nation which owns the unit or of a nation which is a member of the same alliance as the nation owning the units. Sea provinces are ‘friendly’ to all nations (except if one contains an unfriendly T). 25. Stand Orders: A (st) is given when it is desired to have a unit remain in place, without taking any particular action. A unit which is ordered to stand may not be supported in place. Also, since it has not ‘dug in’, the seasonal costs per unit are less than those of a unit ordered to hold.
A unit which is not given any orders (uo) or which is incorrectly ordered or which is unsuccessfully ordered to move or attack is treated defensively as if it had been ordered to stand. Any unit may be ordered to stand. 26. Hold Orders: A (ho) is given when it is desired to have a unit ‘dig in’ against a possible attack. Such a unit may be supported in place. Its seasonal costs are higher than those of a standing unit, but it exacts more casualties from an attacker and is harder to dislodge. Any type of unit may be ordered to hold. 27. Move Orders: A (mo) is given when it is desired to move a unit from one friendly province to another, avoiding combat if possible. A unit may be ordered to move only to an adjacent friendly province. A maximum of one unit may be ordered to move from any one province to any particular adjoining province in the same season.
Any type of unit may be ordered to ‘move’ except Ns, which may never be moved. Also note that only Ts may move to sea provinces, and only Ds may move to non-coastal land provinces. A moving unit is stood off from, and has no effect on, a province in which a non-friendly unit which is ordered to stand, hold, support, or into which such a unit is ordered to attack. A moving unit does, however, stand-off, and is stood off by, another non-friendly unit which is ordered to move into the same province. Friendly units do not stand each other off if ordered to into the same province, unless such a move would result in the occupation of a province by more than four units. A unit which is ordered to move may not be supported. If the province from which a unit was unsuccessfully ordered to move is itself attacked in the same season, the unit which tried unsuccessfully to move is treated defensively as a standing unit. 28. Double-move Orders: Ts may be ordered to double move – that is, to take two consecutive moves in the same season. The second move must originate from the province of the destination of the first move. Double-move orders are adjudicated in two stages: a. The first moves of all Ts ordered to double move, as well as all other military actions are adjudicated normally. b. The second move of all Ts ordered to double-move and whose initial move was successful are adjudicated, using the final positions of all units not ordered to double-move. If the first half of a double-move is not successful then the second move has absolutely no effect.
Each of the two segments of a double-move is treated as a normal move and all the normal restrictions governing such orders apply. ONLY TASK FORCES MAY DOUBLE-MOVE.
A double-move consists of only two move order; a unit may never combine two types of orders in the same season. 29. Attack Orders: An attack order is given when it is desired that a unit attack an adjoining province, dislodging any unfriendly units in the province and occupying it if possible. A successful attack upon an unfriendly province results in the conquest of that province by the nation whose units attacked it. Ts may attack any adjacent sea province or any coastal province which is adjacent along the coast. Defensive units may never attack.
A unit which is ordered to attack may not be supported in place in the province which in which it is attacking, but may be supported into the province to which it is ordered. If the province from which the unit was unsuccessfully ordered to attack is itself attacked in the same season, the unit whose attack failed is treated defensively as a standing unit. A maximum of two units, regardless of type, may attack a given province from a given province in the same turn. 30. As in regular Diplomacy, all military orders are adjudicated simultaneously (with the exception of double-moves). Military action takes place after all demobilizations (except demobs caused by combat; see below) and before new units are built. Thus a military unit has no effect on combat in the season in which it is demobilized or built. Combat Resolution 31. An attack is successful, and any unfriendly units in the province are dislodged, if the combined number of friendly (to each other) attacking units is equal to or more than the number of standing units in the province. I the defending units are holding, an attack is successful only if the number of attacking units is equal to at least twice the number of defenders. Other combinations of standing and holding defenders are resolved in accordance with table 7.
If a province is attacked by two or more groups of mutually friendly units, the group having the largest number of attacking units will conquer the province if it has a two-to-one majority over each of the other attacking groups. If unfriendly units are also standing or holding in the attacked province, the attacking group must also outnumber the defenders in accord with table 7. 32. Dislodged Units: If a unit is dislodged in battle it has two choices: it may retreat (see rule 3.3) or it may ‘no retreat’ (see rule 3.34). The order which tells a unit what to do if it is dislodged must be written at the same time as the action move. Such an order would be written after the action order in parentheses (e.g. 12D Gaso at Nava (re Acqu); 7T TYRS ho (no)). If no order or an incorrect order is written governing a unit’s behavior if dislodged, it is treated as if a no retreat order had been made. 33. If a retreat is written for a dislodged unit, the order must specify to which province the retreat is to take place, and may name one alternative province (to be used if the first choice is not possible). A unit may retreat to any adjacent province which does not have four military units in it and which is not subject to attack by an unfriendly unit that turn. The determination of whether a given retreat is possible is made after all action orders including double-moves have been resolved. If neither choice named in the retreat order is possible then the retreating unit is treated as if a no retreat order had been made.
In addition to any other costs assessed during the season in which the retreat takes place, a charge of 2I will be made for each retreat. This cost is not assessed if the unit is unsuccessfully ordered to retreat. 34. If a no retreat (no) is written for a D or a T which is dislodged, or if a D or a T which is dislodged is unable to follow the retreat order given to it, the dislodged unit is annihilated with an additional assessment of 6M charged against the victorious unit’s owner. If a National Guard is dislodged, it is annihilated, and the assessment of 3M is made against the victorious forces. The Ms from the annihilated units are not returned to the owner’s stockpile. 35. Support: A support order is given when it is desired for a unit to add its strength to a friendly unit in an adjacent province, or to a friendly unit which is attacking into an adjacent province. A unit may only support an action if the supporting unit itself is capable of taking that action. There is an exception to this – Ns may support other units to hold in adjacent provinces even though they could not move there themselves. However, Ts may not support non-coastal land provinces and Ds may not support sea provinces.
Support may not be given to a unit which is ordered to stand or move. A unit which is giving support may, however, be supported itself, in place in the same manner as a holding unit. If a province from which support is being given is itself attacked (unless the attack on the supporting province is coming from the province into which the support is being directed), the number of units giving support is reduced by the number of attacking units minus the number of other units in the supporting province which are supporting separate actions (it is possible that some, but not all of the supports will be cut. In this case the determination of which supports are cut is made by chance, unless a support preference list is sent in by the relevant nations.).
Each uncut support for a holding unit increases by one the number of attackers required to dislodge the holding unit. Each uncut support for an attacking unit effectively increases by one the number of attacking units.
For the purposes of computing casualties, a supporting unit is treated as a holding unit. However, for maintenance costs, there is a specific charge for a supporting unit depending on whether or not the support is used (see table 3). 36. An alliance is a means through which two or more nations enable their military units to: a. Be situated in, or move to provinces of other members of the alliance b. Retreat to provinces of other members of the alliance c. Attack provinces of other members of the alliance without the province changing ownership d. Co-exist in the same province 37. To establish an Alliance, the nations involved must submit (as part of their orders) a written agreement proclaiming the establishment of the alliance and specifying its terms. A copy of the agreement must be submitted by each member and it must be separate from other treaties. These may include any or all of the previous provisions listed in rule 3.36, as well as any other limitations desired by the parties involved, however, only the effects given in rule 3.36 have any legally enforceable effect within the game.
The provisions of an existing alliance may be altered at any time by the same process that establishes an alliance. Note that all nations played by the same player are automatically members of the same alliance. This does not lapse. 38. An alliance lapses in any turn in which it is not ‘reaffirmed’. This reaffirmation can take two forms. It must either order (or a constituent signatory must order) it to be reaffirmed or it must be evident by virtue of a military situation covered in rule 3.36. 39. Other than such a lapse, a nation may withdraw from an existing alliance at any time, subject to the following provisions… a. If the withdrawing nation has a unit which is co-existing with another unit of the alliance in the same province, it must either demobilize that unit or transfer ownership of that unit to the nation remaining in the alliance. b. If the withdrawing power has a unit located in a province of any other member of the alliance, the withdrawing unit has three options: i. Demobilize the unit ii. Transfer ownership of the unit to the nation owning the province or to a nation allied to the nation owning the province iii. Order the unit to attack the province in which it is located. If the unit is not dislodged, the province is conquered. If it is dislodged it is subject ot the usual retreat options. If neither of the above conditions exists, the nation may withdraw from the alliance simply by writing the order to do so. If both of the above are in existence then both limitations apply. If an alliance is affirmed and the same turn a nation withdraws, the withdrawal takes precedence and the alliance is dissolved.
4. Trade
1. A nation may trade (tt) in three ways, military (shipping of Ds), fiscal (shipping of $) and factor (shipping of M, A & I). 2. Military and factor trades require Transportation Factors (Trs), the specification of a “trade route” and the payment of a “shipping fee”. Fiscal trades need only a trade route. 3. Transportation Factors (Trs) may be built in any nation at a cost of $½ and 1I per Tr. As with other builds, these factors must come out of the stockpile of the nation in which the build takes place. Any number of Trs (stockpile permitting) may be built in a given nation in the same season. 4. A Trade Route is specified by either party of a trade. It consists of a continuous chain of provinces from any province of the trading nation to any province of the receiving nation. These two provinces are known as ‘terminal provinces’. If a province in the route, and this includes terminal provinces, is conquered in the season in which the trade is ordered, then the trade fails. However, an alternative route may be designated and should the primary route fail it will, if possible, be used. 5. A nation may ‘blockade’ (bk) trade through any of its provinces or through a sea province in which it has a Task Force in at the SOS. A blockade order may be selective, applying to certain countries or universal (self explanatory). There can be three kinds of blockade; of trade, of military, of fishing. Unless otherwise indicated the code ‘bk’ is taken as a blanket for all three. 6. For military and factor trades, a certain number of Trs must be ‘applied’ (ap) dependent upon the content of the shipment and the length of the trade route which is specified. The numbers required are given in table 8. 7. Each D which is shipped must be regarded as a separate shipment regardless of any common terminal provinces. 8. The Trs of any nation may be applied to any trade. However, if the Trs do not begin the turn in either of the two nations involved in the trade, then a trade route to either of the two terminal provinces (subject to blockade) must be given, which requires the use of a certain number of Trs to ‘get them there’ as per the distance requirements for trade routes in table 8. The Trs generally end up where they started, but they may be re-allocated between the two nations of the trade and the owner of any lent Trs, on the instructions of the various owners of the Trs. 9. A shipping fee of $½ per 10 Tr applied will be charged for each shipment with any fractions rounded up to the next $½. This fee may be paid by any nation. 10. The two parties to a trade must be distinct nations, even though there is now limitation on trading between two nations played by the same player.
5. Research
1. At the start of the game, each nation controls one A research team and one I research team. Territories do not have research teams. Research teams may never be created or destroyed. They may be transferred freely between nations at any time. Research teams cannot be captured and are retained by a nation if it becomes a GIE. 2. In any season, a nation may order any or all the reams under its control to conduct (co) research in its specified field. A cost of $1 will be assessed for each team conducting research in a given season.
For each team conducting research, the GM will throw a pair of dice with the results of the throw determining the degree of success of research in accordance with table 9. Each team has a certain level of technological ability. This is expressed in two numbers, a permanent level and a temporary level. These are subject to change according to the following: a. The permanent level of a team is equal to one half of the number of PIs that it has produced with any fractions ignored. b. Each time a team fails to produce a PI its temporary level increases by one; however, the next time it produces a PI it reverts to be the same as the permanent level. 3. No Agricultural team may have a permanent level higher than 5. No Industrial team may have a permanent level higher than 7. No teams may have a temporary level higher than 9. 4. Whenever a team succeeds, it produces one or two Production Increases (PI) of the appropriate type. APIs & IPIs may be used to increase the yield of a province as detailed below. 5. PIs may be freely transferred between nations at any time prior to their being used. A PI may not be captured and is retained by the owning nation even if it becomes a GIE. 6. In any season following its creation, a PI may be assigned (as) to any land province in the game. A cost of $½ will be assessed for such an assignment. The effect of it is to increase the seasonal yield of that province permanently by 1A or 1I (dependent on the type of PI). The PI then ceases to exist. 7. Only one PI (of either type) may be assigned to a province in any two season period. E.G. if an API were assigned to a province in Summer then ni type of PI may be assigned to that province in Autumn, and either type (but not both) may be assigned there in Winter.
6. Banking
1. A ‘bank’ may be established at any time in any land province in the game. A bank is initially controlled by the owner of the province in which it is located. The owner of the bank may, however, transfer control to another player at any time. The nation owning the province in which the bank is located is known as the ‘host’ nation, regardless of whether the nation and the bank are owned by the same player. 2. Every bank has its own stockpile which is separate from that of the host nation. A bank’s stockpile may never contain M, A or I factors. However it may own PIs, research teams, FFs and even nations. Note that this is a subtle way by which a bank may indirectly own M, A & I factors. 3. $ may be traded (tt) between any bank and any nation and any nation and any bank without any shipping fee or Trs necessary. However a shipping route is needed except where a bank is in the nation with whom it is trading (see rule 4.2). 4. A bank may spend $, however, such $ goes into the escrow of the host nation just as if the nation had spent $. A bank cannot have an escrow of its own. 5. The host nation has ultimate control over the $ in the bank, and may ‘freeze’ or ‘nationalize’, or in any way restrict the use of such $ at any time. $ may not be traded in or out of a frozen bank, nor may such a bank redeem money (see below). When a bank is nationalized, all of its $ are removed from its stockpile and added to the stockpile of the host nation. Research teams and unassigned PIs owned by the bank cannot be nationalized or frozen. 6. When a province in which a bank is located is captured, all the $ is removed from investment, and the conquering nation assumes control of the bank and one half of the $ in it. The other half of the $ from the bank is added to the stockpile of the host nation. If the host nation was eliminated that season, then the $ is credited to the GIE. Research teams and unassigned PIs owned by the bank remain under the control of the former owner of the bank. Redemption 7. A bank has the unique ability to allow a nation to use $ in the bank’s stockpile to pay for actions taken by that nation. This is known as redemption and is a bit like writing a check in Aberdeen when your bank is in Bristol. 8. To pay for an action with $ in a bank, a nation should indicate in its orders that the $ for that action is to be redeemed (rd) from the appropriate bank. E.G. France bu 6 Trs ($ pd by rd from Bank of China). Note that the rd order has a slightly different meaning depending on whether it is written by a nation, or a bank. In the above example, the Bank of China would also have to order rd $1 to France.
If the redemption orders are correctly written by both the bank and the nation, the appropriate number of $s are taken from the on hand stockpile of the bank, and placed in the escrow of the nation, just as if the nation itself had actually spent the $. 9. The bank from which the $ was redeemed will not be listed in the published account of the nation which redeemed the $. Investment 10. Any bank which has more than $10 in its stockpile may invest (in) in the ‘world market’. $ are invested in blocks of $10 each. Invested $ is separate from the bank’s stockpile and may not be used for redemption or any other purposes, unless it is first removed from investment. 11. The order to invest may be written in any season. Once invested, $ remains in investment until ordered to be withdrawn (wd). $ may be traded into a bank and placed in investment in the same season, and may also be withdrawn and traded or redeemed in the same season. However, a bank’s order to invest will stand regardless of whether any deposits are made or not, as long as there are enough $ in the bank’s stockpile to cover the investment order. To prevent being caught short, a bank may order “in all $ received this season’ or ‘in $X from nation Y’, in which case the investment takes place only if the specified $ is traded into the bank from nation Y.
Note that the above constitutes an exception to the general principle that costs are assessed before income is credited. 12. Invested $ will gain, or lose, each season depending on the Investment Payoff Level (IPL) of the area or ‘region’ in which the bank is located. The IPL varies between 1 (min) and 7 (max) and changes each season according to table 10. The payoff levels and their consequent profits are given in table 11. All of the regions begin at level 5 before Winter 1914. 13. The investment regions of the world are given in table 12. 14. The investment gain, or loss, for a season is credited or charged for each block of $10 which is invested in that season after all in and wd orders have been executed. Fractions of blocks are not used in computing earnings. Only $½ or multiples thereof may be withdrawn from investment; smaller fractions stay in the world market unless the express permission of the GM is given (and this will only be given in order to combine redundant $½s).
7. Fishing
1. A nation may supplement it’s a yield through the construction and use of Fishing Fleets (FF). FFs are built in coastal provinces and must be moved into sea provinces before they can fish. 2. A maximum of one FF may be built in a coastal province, with only one coast, in a given season. A maximum of one fleet per coast may be built in a multi-coastal province, in a given season. As with other builds, the building costs for an FF must be paid from the stockpile of the nation in which it is built. 3. Once built an FF may move to any coastal or sea province adjacent to the province in which it was located at the beginning of the season. An FF may not move and fish in the same turn, neither may an FF be moved in the season in which it is built. If an FF is in a land-sea province then it must move to the sea-province half before attempting to fish such a province. 4. There are no maintenance costs for an FF. An FF may voluntarily disband if ordered to do so by its owner at any time. Building costs for FFs are 1I. 5. If an FF is located in the same province as an unfriendly unit at the end of a season, the owner of the military unit has the option to destroy (ds) the FF. This action has no effect on the military unit and it may take any other action that turn, normally permitted to it. If the FF is in a sea province with an unfriendly unit, the military unit may deny it the right to fish, simply by writing an order to that effect. 6. An FF which is in a sea province at the start of the season may be ordered to ‘fish’ (f) in that province. In order to fish successfully, an FF must first fulfill two requirements: a delivery route and the province capacity. a. Delivery route: The FF must be able to trace a continuous chain of sea provinces between the province in which the FF is located and any coastal province which is part of the nation to whose stockpile the fishing yield is to be credited. A delivery route may consist of only two intervening sea spaces and may be blockaded in the same manner as a trade route. b. Province capacity: Each sea space has a fixed limit upon the number of FFs which may fish that particular province. If the number of FFs ordered to fish (and having a valid delivery route) in a given season is in excess of the fishing capacity of that province, then only those FFs which were successfully ordered to fish in that province the previous turn may fish. The fishing capacities of the various sea spaces are given in table 13. 7. Each FF successfully ordered to fish yields 1A to the stockpile of the nation to which the catch is delivered.
8. Misc.
Guerilla Warfare & Sabotage 1. If the nation controlling a province does not have de jure ownership of that province (see rule 2.3)m the de jure owner of that province may spend up to $5 on Guerilla Warfare in that province. The effect of GW is to reduce the Industrial and Agricultural yield of that province for the season in which it is to be conducted, in accordance with table 14. 2. Sabotage may be conducted against any province by spending up to $5 for sabotage against Agricultural and/or Industrial yields. One must spend two separate amounts on separate yields. The effect of sabotage against A or I yield is to reduce yields in that province for the season in which sabotage is to be conducted, according to tables 15 & 16. 3. Sabotage may also be conducted against Transportation Factors of any nation by spending up to $10. The effect of sabotage against Trs is to destroy Trs in accordance with table 17. Public Works 4. A nation may at any time spend up to $5 per province for public works. Costs for public works may be paid only in the nation containing the province being spent for. This expenditure is totally optional and has no effect other than to add $ to the escrow. Transportation Facilities 5. Two provinces in the game contain transportation facilities in them. The provinces are: a. Egypt – containing the Suez Canal b. Schleswig-Holstein – containing the Kiel Canal In order to keep these facilities open the owner of the province in which they are located must spend $1 per season as operating costs, in $1 is payable by any nation but is generally automatically assessed against the owner and will be so unless otherwise ordered. Any of these facilities may be shut down at any time by the owner of the province. When this is done the owner no longer has the find the $1 cost but the situation is changed in that when either canal is closed the respective province, Egypt or Schleswig-Holstein, becomes a multi-coastal province. Either of these facilities which are shut down may, in a subsequent season, be re-opened at a cost of 2A and 10I. The facility will then be ready for use the following season. 6. A further transportation facility, the Panama Canal, may be built across either Panama or Nicaragua. In order to do so one must first obtain the written permission (to the GM) of the de facto owner of the province in question. Then a certain amount of factors must be sent for three seasons. The costs for the first season are $4, 6M, 8A & 10I. For 2 further seasons’ costs are $3-5, 1-2M, 7-9A & 6-8I. The costs are dependent upon dice rolls and will be announced in the previous season. If the work lapses during any turn when the required amount is not paid then a restart cost of $1, 2A & 4I will be levied. A certain amount of M, the result of one die roll, will be returned to the paying nation on completion of the canal. As with all builds, costs must be paid by the nation in whose province the build is taking place.
When completed all the rules for canals in 8.5 apply, including the $1 maintenance charge. The presence of a canal in either of the two provinces has no effect upon the possibilities of a second canal in the other. 7. Further transportation facilities will be given special consideration by the GM. Construction and maintenance costs, as well as any other concerns, are at his or her sole discretion. To begin construction of any canal requires written permission of the GM. Additional transportation facilities need not have real life precedent, though such precedent can only be favorable in their consideration.
9. Procedural
1. A list of abbreviations and notation form table 20 on the tables sheet. 2. Except for alliances: treaties and other written agreements between players have no effect upon order resolution. An action will not take place unless it is explicitly ordered by the nation or bank involved (and all parties involved as necessary). Also note that (except for military units), a nation has ultimate control over anything located in its provinces. 3. Nations may make certain orders conditional upon another nation’s or nations’ orders being successfully carried out. All of the orders involved in the conditionality must take place in the same season. Military builds and actions and fishing fleets’ movements and tt orders may not be made conditional upon other orders, nor may orders be made conditional upon such orders. Note that a nation can order payment for a specific action and make an order conditional upon the success of that action. If an ‘infinity loop’ is produced in the context of such conditional orders, the GM will resolve it in the interests and wishes of the players involved. 4. It is possible for two or more players to jointly control a nation. Should this occur then any orders for that nation must be signed by all players of the nation. However, it is permissible for players to delegate authority to one another for order-writing. But this delegation must be made every season. Powers of the GM 5. Situations not covered in these rules will be resolved by the GM in a manner consistent with the ‘spirit of the game’. 6. The GM reserves the right to bend, alter, twist or adjust the rules, after giving reasonable notice, if at any time it becomes evident to him that the economics of the game are too inflationary or depressed, or that any rule or ramification thereof confers undue advantage to any one player or group of players, or if a change would greatly benefit the game without undue confusion. Players in the game may petition the GM to alter the rules, and although this will normally be put to vote among the player, the ultimate decision to alter them will be solely that of the GM. On his part the GM will use this power only with discretion, in order to avoid giving any player undue advantage through any such alteration. He will try to avoid making any effects of rule alterations retrospective. 7. If a player wishes to take an action which is not provided for in the rules, but is not explicitly forbidden by them, he should inform the GM of his intention. If, in the GM’s opinion, such an action is consistent with the ‘spirit of the game’, then the action will be allowed, subject to any conditions the GM feels are necessary to ensure realism, playability and balance. 8. The GM may, if he feels it necessary, introduce changes without warning which may require urgent changes and which any advance notice would remove the effectiveness of. This right, known as GM fiat, will be used as little as possible since it will probably prove unpopular. Victory Conditions 9. If at any time, one player controls one half of the land provinces in the game, or ½ of the total Gold Factors in the game (included $ on hand, invested and in escrow) for three consecutive seasons, the game will be declared over with that nation being declared the winner.
At any time two or three nations may agree to attempt a Joint Victory. Such agreements must be submitted in writing to the GM by each participant, to be either published or kept secret as the participants think fit. A player may only be a party to one such agreement at a time. While such an agreement is in effect, the three players are considered as one for the purposes of victory conditions only. However, victory conditions for a Joint Victory are the control of 2/3 of the total number of provinces or 2/3 of the total Gold Factors in the game, for three consecutive seasons. Such an agreement may be voided if requested by one of the participants. In such a case, the party voiding the agreement is not revealed. Nations jointly owned by two or more players may be included in computing whether one has sufficient provinces or gold for victory only if all owners of the nation are included in that joint victory.
