Yeah, so while I was on my "I'm going to read into Vanny/Vanessa as much as possible" journey, I noticed an odd quirk in her animations in how she moves. At first, I thought it reminded me of a ballerina, 'cause she's kinda tip-toeing, & she has this way of keeping her head & chest in one place as she moves, but I looked again & realized --

That's not ballet! She's doing a tight-rope act. Like, look at this one:

This is like standing up on the wooden boards before you do the actual tight-rope walking, & the ring leader is hyping you up as you do some fun movement for the crowds. &, then, these:

These are all instances where she walks with one foot directly in front of the other. In that third, she's doing the "woaaah" wiggly-ass balance movements & everything, as if she's swaying up at the top of the tent, even though she's down on solid ground.

Idk, I feel like the way her feet are placed isn't accurate (pretty sure they should be pointed left & right, not both forwards...) doesn't make this 100% correct, but I like it. It also connects back with her first SB teaser, wherein she's up in the rafters.

Heres a sorta drabble/headcanon of sorts of how I picture MC's relationship with Rafayel would devleop~ I'm not much of a writer but the brainrot is real and im working on making similar ones for the other boys too!

There have been many different things in Rafayel's life that inspired him when it comes to his art, But nothing took control of his heart so intensely as much as you have. Like a whirlpool you shook him to his core from that first meeting, and all he wants to do is capture you on his canvas for eternity.

It really was quite the blessing with how willing you were to become his bodyguard- not only can he keep you within arms reach but you can also protect him from all the shady people after his life. Like killing 2 birds with one stone, except you were so much stronger and beautiful than any stone he’s ever set eyes on before

He absolutely felt like a flirt to you at the start with all of the compliments and casual physical touch between you guys, He just loved to say how amazing you are while enclosing you in a deep bear hug. It was strange at first you'd admit, but it never felt like he was trying to make any passes at you or act like he was expecting anything in return. Perhaps that's just how he acts with people he trusts?

When Rafayel isnt painting, you two spend a lot of time outside finding inspiration all around. He usually has a sketchbook with him scribbling away anytime he sees something interesting- the landscapes, pretty flowers, or even a parfait you guys got to share. You’ve seen some of these sketches as he works on them, it always amazes you how much detail he can capture with so few lines.

He never let you fully flip through the sketchbook however, claiming all sorts of reasons why, like that the drawings were scared of the sunlight or you had to go through many trials to be worthy. It was obvious how much he cherished it and you respected his wishes, though it would be nice to reminisce on some of the good times you guys had together again. Though its not like your phone wasn't filled to the brim with photos already

Late one night, you stop by his place to make sure he didn't need any motivation to finish a painting for a deadline set the next morning. You have confidence he could make it in time, he always did, but you want to help him as best as you can otherwise. When you arrive you spot a stunning completed painting and a Rafayel sleeping on the sofa below it- both stunning as they're illuminated by the moonlight.

Taking it upon yourself to clean up his supplies a little, just enough to not be a walking hazard of course, you spot his precious travel sketchbook on the floor. Surely he wouldn't mind if you took a little peak in it, you'd love to see how he finished the last landscape you guys saw before he locked himself up to work. As you flip through the pages you see so many familiar sights from your time together so far, but scattered around them filling maybe even more pages was many drawings of a person. Of you. All surrounded by hearts and little notes about things you've said.

When did he have a chance to draw all of these? Is this how you look to him?? Questions race your mind as your face flushes at the image of him intensely scribbling in the sketchbook as you dance around the beach being dumb. You decide to grab a pencil and add your attempt of a sketch of him in the back, signing it with a little heart of your own. It’s nowhere near his skill level but something that captures how you feel, and maybe he would get a chuckle out of it once he spots it.

You don’t realize when the casual acts of affection he started out with turn slightly more romantic- going from linking arms together to holding your hand, and you swear you feel him press little kisses on the top of your head every time he wraps his arms around you. But you don't hate it, in fact it makes your heart flutter every time you realize it

Rafayel often messages you at the most random times to meet him somewhere, usually it was because he found a stunning view and wanted to share the experience with you. Sometimes he would even show up at your apartment to whisk you away, and every time it filled you with joy. These dates and every moment you get to spend with him fill your heart with so much warmth.

One particularly warm night you were woken up by a call inviting you to the beach near his studio. It was worth crawling out of the bed at an ungodly hour, not only for the view but for him. While you were admiring the waves, he couldn't keep his eyes off you as a cautious pinky is hooked around yours. Two faces flush as you look at him, it lasts for only a moment before its interrupted by your watch.

Your face falls as you read the notification “It looks like I got a last minute mission in the morning…I guess this means I have to head back already.” As you take a heavy step to start walking away he reaches out to stop you with a pleading look on his face “Wait, don’t go yet” “Rafayel…. I’m sorry, I really am. This night- everything was wonderful, it really was” “Can’t you just stay the night?” He wraps his arms around you, nuzzling his face into your neck “Please just stay the night, I don’t want you to leave.” Your heart flutters as you wrap your arms around him in return “Okay, I’ll stay for you my sweet painter”

He is the most clingy man you’ve ever met, constantly torn between wrapping himself around you while peppering every inch of skin with kisses and diving headfirst into hundreds of paintings with you as his muse. His studio would be covered in nothing but paintings of you if he didn't have to focus on his commissions.

He sculpted out a place in your heart that held him, and in turn you've devoted yourself to him- loving him with every fiber of your being

JACK THE GIANT KILLER

originally this was a kind of personal visual vibe test: I'm still turning some thoughts around about jack in my head (altho I have finished assembling the skeleton of a story and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when I start to press at it) but I really liked how it turned out so I'm posting it as it's own illustration :)

the first post about this idea is over here, but I've fine tuned it down a bit so that the story begins with jack finding the body of a giant while he's out in the woods one day, and the story spirals out of hand before he can stop it.

it's been interesting to read up on jack tales from a literary analysis point of view while I figure this story out!! and through the power of more coffee, I think. I'm close to pinning down an underlying theme I'd really like to bite into. I just need to condense it down to a couple of sentences instead of several paragraphs.

So uh. This is actually as far as my "script" has gone (script as in written dialogue. Ofc i have other stuff planned, and know where this chapter is going.) Basically this means not only do I still have pages to make after this, but I also have to actually write the rest of the dialogue out too :/ I won't be updating again anytime soon because of that, but also because my uni is so demanding it's crazy.. Haven't had time for like any passion projects :(

I also have some news on how updates will happen going forwards. I'm gonna address it in a separate post to explain exactly why I'm changing my update schedule, but good news is you guys won't have to wait months just for 2 page updates anymore! (Because I will be doing massive page drops maybe twice a year. 10-20 pages)

The pain, the despair, the unmitigated agony of seeing one of your fave fanfic writers move onto another fandom, seemingly never to return.

Dusk slowly plodded towards where the group sat, shaking sleep from his eyes and Twilight nestled in his mane. He'd thought it over a bit more, and had come to a decision. Now all there was left to do was convince the others, though that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Gently, he bumped his head against Dawn, giving him a nuzzle in greeting before leaning back, a serious look on his face.

Taking in a deep breath to calm himself, Dusk blurted, "We need a lunar wing for Twilight."

This sudden statement dew the eye of everyone in the group, and while Dusk shifted uncomfortably under their confused gazes, he carefully explained, "Twilight has been trouble sleeping lately. She's been dreaming, but all of them are nightmares, and it's been keeping her up too much to be healthy."

"These nightmares left for a while, but seemed to have returned again with even more force." Dusk explained, speaking faster with each word, "I've tried to deal with them on my own, but you know how it is with dream-walking in legendary minds."

"Of course the lunar wing would only be temporary, just until we can find the root of this problem. I just don't want her loosing any more sleep, she's still so young..."

"Oh love, you should have told me sooner." Dawn crooned, gently pressing his beak to Dusk's neck in comfort, halting his husbands worried rambling, "Of course we can retrieve a lunar wing. Should be relatively easy too, I'm still owed a favour from her." He joked slightly at the end before continuing. "It's also possible being around our Cresselia could help Twilight develop her powers more. After all, we don't now they full extend of her abilities yet. Maybe she could tell us if the abaility to dream-walk was passed down as well."

"We could also use this as an opportunity to check up on other legends and see if other strange things have happened." Voxgatum mused, "Oneiros watches over the dreams of all living things after all. Maybe she could help. Confirm if this is just one bad actor or something bigger."

"Whilst you three travel, there is one more who may benefit from an alteration of scenery." Maksviah cut in, turning towards Voxgatum, "With the news' final spread between legends, I am most certain someone else worries more then needed. My second eldest, Vourison, I fear will worry himself to panic. A visit would be good for both of you."

"Mother, do you even need to say more then that?" Vox said, a relaxed smile on his face, "Why, I'd be delighted to go bother my worrywart of an older brother! It's been far too long since we've seen one another."

"Did you not visit him the other week?"

"Perhaps~"

"Well, I suppose that settles it." Dawn said, "We'll need a bit of time to prepare, but we should be off soon."

"I'll head off a bit after you do." Voxgatum said with a wave of his wing, "I want to spend a bit more time here before heading out. Maybe I'll pop by Oneiros' place after so we can chat."

And with all that said, the group split to prepare for the coming days ahead.
