XD That said, I've finally made it to Gongaga in Rebirth, so just a heads up in the next week or so, I'll be doing some tweaking to Sera and Shayan's info here as I explore! I want to take my sweet time going over everything, given how important this area is to Sera and her family, but @honorisen / @yoroiis is still WAY behind me at this point due to a busy offline schedule, so it may still be simply roundabout info for the time being - Basic, nothing that would contain too much in the way of spoilers type stuff, given Kasa's asked me to not spoil her on plot still, and I run the vast majority of my edits through her before adding them to blog due to how intertwined our muses are across all our blogs.

However, considering I barely made it into the jungle and immediately had brain brrrr's, I can't hold everything back! So do expect that to be coming up pretty soon! <3 I also plan on doing some heavy work over at @shinrarisen for Cissnei, as well - Got me a plan for things already, and I've only just made it into the village-! <3

Home Is Where The Fanart Is

Happy Fanuary! What's Fanuary, you ask? It's my own little excuse to draw some very long overdue art for my friends, and develop better style with lineart at the same time!

Without further ado, I started with an author whose work captivates me in a truly indescribable way. It would be truly terrifying to a hacker to see how often I'm on her blog rereading an old favorite or an entire story. I will never be able to find the words to explain the magic of her storytelling, but I sure try my damndest every time.

Kirsten @whumblr 's Zayne and Jay of HIWTHI have had a deathgrip on my soul since the first chapter back in 2020 and, though I've drawn them before, once was never going to be enough.

And, well, maybe I figured out the plot of this interaction and impulsively wrote fanfiction. At the end of the cut are a few bonus detail shots as well <3

“Aren’t you tired of this old song and dance?” Zayne flashed him an unimpressed look, then glanced down at his own outstretched hand. Still empty. 

“I am. Glad you finally agree,” he huffed and brushed past, only to be caught by the collar of his button down. The grip tightened and pulled him, stumbling, face to face with his unwelcome visitor. His eyes cast down. 

“Then why is that belt still around your waist?” 

Jay bristled. He knew damn well how long his day had been, because he’d started unloading it on Zayne the moment he arrived home. If it weren’t for the sudden order that cut him off, his tormentor would have still been listening to that afternoon’s office melodrama. The last thing he needed was to present his battered body on a platter before the long weekend. 

“I have more than one, you know. If you can rummage through my fridge, you can give my closet a passing glance every now and again.” Regret only came on after handing him an open invitation to look through more of Jay’s belongings, but he suspected Zayne had already done more than his fair share of that.

“As it happens, I was looking for this particular belt.” He drew a finger along the smooth leather. “If you’re craving ice cream, an ice lolly just won’t cut it.”

“Does the trick for me,” Jay shot back and turned away down the hallway. “Here, I’ll show you where they are.” His brisk pace far too closely resembled running, and the heart pounding in his throat mimicked that well. He’d hung last time’s belt separately when he remembered he didn’t have the funds to simply keep discarding them. Probably the same reason Zayne didn’t care to use it again.

Just like a cat. The moment something was designated his, his interest dissipated. 

On an instinctual level, Jay knew he wouldn’t make it to the bedroom, but some part of him still had the audacity to be surprised when a hand twisted his hair and flung him toward the wall. Even though his shoulder took the brunt of the impact, the blow to the head was enough to skew his glasses. Jay leaned back and raised a hand to set them straight when Zayne took hold of his shirt and yanked it from his trousers.

“Get off!” In finding a stable place to lean back, Jay had unwittingly trapped himself against the wall where a knee now dug into his hip, holding him still enough to free one button, then another. He wrapped fingers around Zayne’s wrist. “The hell are you doing?!”

“Why don’t you deduce that yourself, Jayboy? Surely you can be a more reliable source than your coworker found.” A fist drove into his gut and Jay lost his grip, allowing the shirt to be shucked off him and thrown aside. 

“You could’ve just asked!” He tried to swallow the clear hypocrisy. Somehow, he only happened to think these plans through about two minutes after initiating them, and wondered how he hadn’t already anticipated the outcome.

“Try giving the same order three times in a row. See how patient you are when your punching bag cusses you out,” Zayne shrugged, reaching for the undershirt next when Jay hugged his waist in protest. He didn’t understand why Zayne held him by the hip instead until nimble fingers flicked out the end of his belt, pulled to free the buckle’s prong, and whipped it out in a single flourish. 

“On your knees.”

“Wait, wait- fuck!” The full length cut across his front, only shielded by thin cotton, but the familiar sting throbbed on his jaw. A tentative touch found hot, angry skin just below his cheek. “That was my face, Zayne!” 

“You clearly don’t care to heed my requests today. I don’t see any reason to return the favor.” He doubled the leather over and tilted his head.

Finally Jay made eye contact, turned his back, and slid to his knees. 

“No. Face me.”

“I’m not letting you bust my lip with a belt!” 

He’d already resigned himself to the shove when it came and caught himself just before he hit the wall again. Zayne’s boot landed on his ankle and couldn’t hold back a smile at the yelp it forced out. 

“Then you’d better get your arms up and make sure I can’t.”

Mattea Murdock, the Daredevil Drummer of Philly

In celebration of the forthcoming new Spider-Punk: Arms Race series (not to mention Hobie stealing scenes in "Across the Spider-Verse" last year), I wanted to finally write up my long-overdue overview post on Mattea Murdock! If you haven't read her introductory run yet, check it out here.

Mattea truly stands on her own in the wide canon of alternate universe DDs. She is a female Daredevil, she is Latina, and she somehow managed to escape Marvel's NYC gravity and base herself in Philadelphia, where she defends its citizens from violence and exploitation. Hobie and his self-styled Spider-Band encounter her in Spider-Punk (2022) #3, when they make a detour to fix the busted Spider-Van. They are all immediately-- and correctly-- impressed.

Mattea: "Yo, Kam!" Hobie: "Wait, you know each other?!" Kamala: "Duh! You think I wouldn't know the Daredevil Drummer of Philly?" Hobie: "You're a drummer too?" Mattea: "Best in town." Hobie: "Oh man, my friend Gwen is a pretty dope drummer too. I think y'all would definitely get along." Mattea: "Hope they're ready to get outplayed by a pretty, blind girl." Spider-Punk vol. 1 #3 by Cody Ziglar, Justin Mason, Jim Charalampidis, and Travis Lanham

I talked a little about her killer character/costume design when she was first introduced (I was a fool; of course she's blind), and my love for her look has only grown. It's badass, distinctive, and it slots her beautifully into Hobie's punk rock world while still evoking that trademark Daredevil image (red, sticks, pointy bits...). Her irises are red, which is a visual choice I enjoy in more heightened, fantastical DD stories/art styles, and I think it works for Mattea. Heck, I could even imagine them being colored contact lenses she's chosen to wear for the aesthetic. Also, one detail that wasn't in the previews is the fun little laughing devil face on the back of her jacket (I'm not punk rock enough to get the reference if it is one, but it reminds me of Darkdevil):

Of course, always a big priority for me is Daredevil's power-set, and Mattea provides a quick primer on her unique perspective, mostly focused on hearing and the radar sense:

Mattea: "What? You think just 'cause I'm a blind girl, I can't see? Echolocation, my abuelas used to call it. But it's more intimate. Instinctual. Can hear a kick drum from ten blocks away. Can see it too. If I think hard enough, I can even see what the garage it's being played in looks like." Hobie: "Yo, are you doing it right now?" Riri: "She's definitely doing it right now."

This is not my favorite description of Daredevil's powers, nor-- to be honest-- a particularly informative one. She can gather spatial information through walls...from ten blocks away? I also never love an overuse of visual language in any explanation of these powers, especially as it's implied that Mattea, like Matt, is completely blind. Surprisingly, no direct mention is made here of the hypersenses as a whole, beyond the reference to hearing a kick drum from ten blocks away. Even her hearing doesn't receive that much attention in the story overall, which feels like a missed opportunity for such a musical character. Her blindness, too, is pretty much irrelevant to the story, and never comes up again. But I do LOVE that she uses the term "echolocation", though is still very clearly the radar sense, in all its vague, undefined, semi-magic glory.

And visually? This is great. I'm always a fan of the cross-hatching visual, especially against a black background, and artist Justin Mason doesn't go too overboard on the detail, which is another preference of mine. And thematically, I love the ways in which Mattea's drummer identity is tied into her superheroics-- not just for laying a beatdown on bad guys, but also for channelling and enhancing her echolocation/radar sense. One of my favorite scenes in the comic is when she plays a drum solo on a roof edge to scope out the Kingpin's lair. I'm willing, in that moment, to ignore any gripes about radar sense irregularities out of respect for the coolness and thematic heft of the concept. I mean, this rocks:

Mattea: "Come on, show me the good stuff."

At the end of the day, though, this is not a Daredevil comic and Mattea is not the main character. Plus, it's only five issues long, and introduces a bunch of other new characters as well. There was only ever going to be room for the creative team to offer a cursory introduction, hopefully generating enough interest to prompt these characters to appear again in other comics. In that, I think they fully succeeded with Mattea; we get a cursory sense of her powers (or at least, enough to show that they're the normal DD set), her personality (delightfully cocky, playful, tough, fearless), a few hints of her backstory, and some truly kickass fight scenes. There's a bit of suspension of disbelief required to believe she can use drumsticks as a stand-in for billy clubs (unless her drumsticks are made of something really hefty-- and hey, maybe they are), but this is Spider-Punk. Hobie killed Norman Osborn with a guitar--twice. It's not about realism, it's about style.

Mattea: "Been waiting for this for a long time, Fisk. Real long time." Fisk: "I'm going to break you, li'l girl--AWGGH!" Mattea: "Big, strong man who sends out his band of wackos to push over people too weak to fight back." Fisk: "Wouldn't get too cocky, girlie...you're not the only one who's fast! I'm gonna hurt ya. A lot. Then I'm gonna kill ya. And I'm gonna love every second of it. You know, this is the same look you had when I had your old band clapped a few years back. I like it. Brings out your eyes--GAAAH!" Mattea: "There's something you need to understand about me, papi. I'm not the kinda girl who goes down without a fight."

I can't wait to see more of Mattea and learn more about her, her world, her friends, and her enemies. In particular, she seems to have a history (possibly romantic?) with this world's Kamala Khan, and I would love to see more of that relationship. While Mattea Murdock clearly has a lot in common with Matt Murdock, she also seems happy to be a team player, unlike Matt, and I really enjoy that. Though I guess it's not that surprising a distinction. After all, every drummer needs a band.

I’m gonna throw my five bucks on a certain subject here. Some swearing will apply and this post is LONG AS HELL, so be warned.

The TL;DR of this post is: Paw Patrol canon has been treating most pups like shit lately for several seasons now, so if you ever feel frustrated or absolutely pissed at Paw Patrol canon and the way they’re portrayed most of the time nowadays, know you can count on me here and on my pups’ askblog to have some fucking good food for your soul. I may be slow sometimes because I have a life outside the internet just like everyone else, but I'm not going away. Fuck canon, I'll give my damn self what they've been denying us of and I'll make a point of sharing it with you because we're all tired and the time to make things happen ourselves is long overdue.

I understand how most older fans are extremely frustrated with the way Paw Patrol has been different from what they used to watch and love long ago. You guys have been following this show for years - I started just this January. I didn’t have to spend long weeks, months, years even, waiting for things to happen or get better, and just being more and more frustrated. You have all the right to be pissed beyond your minds now.

I am fortunate enough to see things with the different mindset of someone who’s “binge watching”. While I didn’t need to wait weeks for new episodes, I got to see things at a faster pace and take some conclusions myself too about certain things. I’m gonna share what I think so far.

1- It’s logical to have Chase be a first responder most times, though I can see he’s not being used the way he could be. They’re not exploring his potential, they’re just making a point of using him just because. That is a problem because he is actually a character with an important job/role which could be used in many other ways other than what’s been happening for several seasons now. Also, I don’t give a damn fuck about any of that “he’s cop propaganda” crap. It’s a cartoon about dogs with jobs that are important to keep society functioning. I don’t care cops are jobs created with bad intents way back then, it IS an important job that just can and should be addressed differently now, evolving along with the society it’s supposed to care for. That being said, he BARELY does any cop job at all anyway, he's more like a traffic control and search & rescue pup, which by itself is already sort of a concern too since he's supposed to be a police pup, but whatever.

2- Marshall is really badly used for several seasons too and I honestly wonder why they even have a Firefighter pup if they won’t have him do firefighter stuff. He only does RESCUE stuff. And barely at that. As a friend of mine commented some time ago, he’s treated as the town’s janitor, not a firefighter. We literally barely have any fire ever too. Be careful, guys, you can’t show fire to kids, it’s bad stuff!!! Fire is forbidden!!!! (/sarcasm) Reason for me to fucking love the movies is literally just to see Marshall having his badass moments putting out actual fire.

3- I feel bad for Skye and her fans. For real, I’m not kidding. I like her. And as a fan I can also see ALL the issues they have been causing on her. The most known issue is how she’s overused to the point we’re exhausted of seeing her being a first responder for literally anything, especially for things that could have been solved by other pups (usually taking Marshall off his opportunities to use his ladder for height rescues, lessening even more what little rescue jobs he has left). They do that because they made a big fat mistake when they decided there would be only one female in the main team and now that they “need” female rep for the girls (and their own daughters/etc), they need to overuse the only one they have available 100% of the episodes, at the expense of erasing the other pups. The worst part is that they don’t even try an effort on how to work with her, they just shove her in there to do anything in any way. I haven’t seen her use her pup-pack’s wings in ages now, only that goddamned helicopter and harness or hook.

4- My biggest issue with Zuma is not even the fact he’s barely called for any mission at all for over half the show. I can say for a fact that people who live by beaches have a damn sense of how to behave around water. I live by several touristic tropical beaches. THE LOCALS KNOW NOT TO MESS WITH THE FUCKING OCEAN, the people who fuck up are ALWAYS tourists who have no idea about how beaches work. Meanwhile, the locals know when tides will rise, they know when it’s good time for fishing, they know to read the waters, they know to read the skies, they know where it’s good and safe for swimming or diving. It’s not just “mystical native knowledge” or something they ACTIVELY know they know, it just… It’s just NATURAL. They’re not “taught” these things, they learn it just by living and experiencing the beach life. It makes sense Zuma doesn't have much to do because Adventure Bay residents just will not fuck up on the water.

Now I know the show producers didn’t have THIS specific shit in mind as an excuse to not have Zuma doing many rescues at all, but this is something that’s natural, so I can let that pass. I don’t mind it. My issue about Zuma is how he’s supposed to be this pup who’s all about sea, ocean, water rescues and… They just don’t show it. The thing that got me pissed the most is the fact he never knows anything about sea life - it’s always the Cap’n Turbot who’s telling them about sea animals. Zuma didn’t know what a Narwhal was. Dude, I was a kid who loved (still love) all about the ocean and by age 4 I knew about a lot of animals, INCLUDING Narwhals because they’re freaking “cool whales with a long unicorn horn lol that’s wicked”. If you’ll have a character who loves and lives for the sea/ocean stuff, you gotta have him KNOW about it. It’s HIS THING and they fucked it up by constantly having him NOT KNOWING JACKSHIT ABOUT THE VERY THING HE LOVES.

It’s just clear the producers dislike Zuma for whatever fucking reason I don’t want to know and I don’t give a flying fuck anymore. I don’t expect them to remember about Zuma any more often than what they’ve barely done for several years now. I get sad because he’s one of my favorite pups as I see myself so much in him - except on the fact he SHOULD know about sea life lmao but I can’t get nearly as frustrated as you all because I literally just don’t expect them to change how they treat Zuma. They made it VERY CLEAR they have no intention on giving him any more attention than what little he gets and I’ve come to accept it - doesn’t mean I’m happy. I'm just realistic.

5- I don’t really have anything to “complain” on Rubble and Rocky, thankfully. Nothing about the other pups outside the main team either. Some of them could show up more, but that's about it.

6- My last issue is also a common point in this fandom, which is how little the pups have interacted for several seasons now. We don’t get to see them outside of rescues at all, and when we do, it’s always something happening that will be related to the mission that’s to come. Only “plot relevant” stuff. It gets tiring and makes all characters feel fucking FLAT. We don’t see character development at all. Don’t even get me started on Ryder. “Development” has NEVER been a word in the producers’ dictionary for Ryder.

With all these points, I also want to add that I don’t intend on “giving up” on the show because thankfully I didn’t have YEARS of frustration building up to get me pissed to such a point. I can keep watching it. Also, as an older person (not older fan since I only started watching this year), it’s kinda hard to make me give up on anything at all because I’ve seen too much already from several other cartoons/animes XD Besides, if I have the means to make things happen, I don’t wait for the show to give me the things. I make them myself - reason number one why I created the @diy-fire-water-pups RP/Ask Blog. I can draw, I can write, I know how these characters work, I’ll give myself what I want to see. Fuck whatever else in canon. I don’t care. If Zuma and Rocky won’t interact in canon despite living under the same fucking roof, sharing owner and working together, I’ll make it happen myself and share it with you all because who gives a damn??? I'm the kind of person that when they don't give me what I want to see, I'll just go and make it myself, no fucks given.

I don’t think it’s worth to be so pissed and frustrated at canon media, especially nowadays when we know for a fact the big bosses won’t fucking listen to fandom opinions to work better on what fans would like to see. Sadly, not all show producers are like the Warframe devs (THEY WISH THEY'D BE LIKE THEM XD). You're just making yourself more sad than needed over fictional media. Your mental health is real and you need to pay attention to it.

I’m not asking for ships to be canon - fuck it, they’re portrayed as kids, the fact I ship some characters doesn't necessarily mean I expect ships to be canon in the show. They could at least remember to give the characters A LIFE. And do their fucking jobs, which was supposedly the original intention of the show, to help showing kids what “mainstream jobs” do, for kids to start developing a sense of having a favorite cool job they’d probably want to pursue a career in later in life, or something of the likes. I've had a student who's studying automotive engineering programming solely because she used to watch "Knight Rider" with her dad as a teenager and loved "the sassy car with artificial intelligence" in the show. She grew up to decide pursuing a career on developing automotive technologies because she watched a talking car on TV. Kids might watch Paw Patrol and decide they want to become firefighters, to be airplane pilots, to be marine biologists, to be cops, whatever. Shit is, they're now doing a very poor job on working on this purpose.

I’ll continue running the pups askblog to give myself and to give you all some actual character development, content, some life outside of rescues and missions. I have some big plans for the blog, not gonna give spoilers about these plans yet because I’m still developing the ideas, I just need my desktop computer back working so I can work on my stuff without interruption - currently sharing my slow af laptop with my dad and my younger bro bc we all need it, I’m poor, I can’t afford buying a second laptop, I barely make enough for bills and food as it is. Btw my PC is back from the techs but my TV is dying and I used to use that as a PC monitor/screen, so now I’m going out of my way to buy a new monitor/screen for it (I can go on with my life without a TV for a few years just fine). Once that gets solved, let’s see if my PC will fucking work without shutting down randomly all the damn time. If it works, I can start developing my bigger plans for the blog - I’ll just say each of my three pups will get a very deserved spotlight they SHOULD have in canon (though Rocky’s been getting his with the miniseries “Rocky’s Garage��, amen to that).

So, if you ever feel frustrated about Paw Patrol canon, you know you can come over here and to my pups blog for some actual stuff, some real talk, and a breath of fresh air. Especially for some Rocky and Zuma interaction, since canon just denies us of the simplest interactions between them for no valid reason. Cowards.

So, I noticed that Tinker-the-dragon showed you storyboards of their own animatic (which looks great btw, can't wait to see it), and since you said you enjoyed seeing the process, I figured I'd do the same! After all, having people acknowledge and get excited for my WIPs gives me a sense of accountability to finish it, which makes it much more likely to actually get done.

So, behold my chaotic, colorful rough sketches!

The process is slow-going, since I am simultaneously working on a couple other creative projects, some are tangentially related to this one (like how I'm finalizing my headcanon designs for all the turtles beyond just Donnie), and some aren't (like drawing long overdue art of my D&D party's characters).

I'm also making some guesses/taking some liberties when it comes to the timeline. Like, I'm assuming that this AU takes place post S2 finale, and thus will take place in the new lair, but I don't actually know. (If this has been addressed in asks before, I'm probably too new of a fan of SnapDonnie to have paid attention to those asks, and don't have the attention span to scroll through a ton of asks just to obtain a specific bit of information)

Similarly, I don't know exactly at what point Donnie starts attracting flies. It might not be as early as I'm depicting here. I can certainly move that part to a later section, but I don't know what I'd replace it with.

In general, if you have suggestions for things to be changed/switched around to better fit with the 'canon' of SnapDonnie, I'd love to hear it. It's better to make changes now while things are still very rough and flexible, than once I'm more committed and frames have taken quite a bit more effort to make.

Also to answer your questions- SnapDonnie takes please after the movie, So Raph has a blind eye and hole in his shell/plastron, Mikey has his scars (though u cant drawing them in bandages to aviod drawing them if i want -i always forget to draw them lol) and Leo has a leg brace.

And as for the flies, Donnie starts to attract them basically immediately once the physical changes start, though he basically douses himself with insect repellent at first (while he still wants to repel them) So frames 24 and 25 would go after he really starts to change instead of before.

Discussing Hans' Hypothetical Return in Frozen 3

So... been a long while since I've made a post on here. For the few Frozen peeps who follow me, my Fractured fan-fic is currently on an indefinite hiatus (I still very much plan to continue writing it and seeing it through to the end and actually post it at some point, but writer's block continues to pester me and I still need much more storybeats to properly flesh out before I get any serious work done; by now I've only written like half the prologue section).

With that out of the way, and with Frozen 3 being officially greenlit, the question still wonders in the air whether or not everyone's favorite dastardly prince has the opportunity to make a comeback after being left out of Frozen 2 (though, at least we know via that one Santino Fontana's old interview that Hans was intended to be a part of the second movie very early on during development, or at least, the idea itself was discussed).

As of right now, and realistically speaking, I don't think it's very likely for a few reasons: Jen Lee clearly has changed her mind between Frozens 1 and 2 in regards to Hans' character so I don't believe she would begin to consider revisiting his character; him literally being called an unreedemable monster by Elsa in F2 is not a good indication for any chances of a redemption arc with him should he return; in that one group interview with Santino, Josh Gad and the Lopez a few years back, Hans was brought up and Gad even supported the idea of him coming back for a Frozen 3, but Santino seemed very hesitant to the idea so, if he doesn't want to do it assuming they want Hans back, then I don't think he would do it (unless maybe they give the character some depth or give him an overall importance to the plot. I don't know, something that could convince him to come back to the role.)

But I also like to consider what-ifs, and one of those what-ifs is with what to do with Hans' character should he be revisited, because there are quite a few storytelling routes they could go with him, which I will discuss below and you guys can tell me your thoughts if you're particularly interested. These are just basic ideas that came to my head:

1 - Hans is hellbent on revenge against the Arendelle sisters, is the main villain of Frozen 3 and somehow manipulates his family (who is 100% innocent and comprised of good people) into starting a war with Arendelle because of Elsa's unlimited power; still being portrayed as he was during the fireplace scene in F1. [a very generic and boring option for me; many people take issue with how almost unnatural his shift to mustache-twirling villain was, so fleshing his character out a little, villainous or not, I think would help in the long run. Plus, him being the sole main villain would get stale imo]

2 - Like F2 and Frozen Fever, Hans does return somewhat but is made into nothing but a punchline throughout the whole movie, aka the General Hux effect while one or some of his family members play the main villain(s) and ridicule him. [the least interesting and most cringeworthy route to take, and the joke would get old real fast. Not to mention, canonically speaking, Hans' family life hasn't been... great, so I feel like portraying an abusive family relationship like this, even if Hans isn't a good person, would be very uncomfortable and send the wrong message]

3 - Hans' abhorrent actions and consequences, as well as his backstory bit by bit, are fully explored, and he's disowned and exiled by his family following a trial that takes place shortly after his arrival home. Stewing with anger and resentment as he wanders alone, he is eventually approached by the actual main villain (another elemental user would be cool and long overdue for these movies in my eyes) and is ironically manipulated into taking vengeance against those he feels wronged him (Anna and Elsa included) when said villain promises him the rule of the Southern Isles and the happiness he so desires. The villain only intends to use him for their own agenda and someone to take the fall for their actions, choosing to stay in the shadows until the right moment to strike. Hans goes along with the plan, and at first he's thrilled and vindicated, but one tragic moment shatters his concept of morality (this could be any number of things as long as it results in him having a serious wake-up call) and makes him realize how catastrophically wrong his actions are and not being able to cope with it. In the end though, and through moments of actual self-reflection, he helps Frohana to take down the main villain. If he dies, then Anna realizes that people aren't black-and-white like in the storybooks she read as a kid, and decides to forgive him despite what he's done, while Elsa does not. If he survives, either Anna still forgives him or none of the sisters forgive him, but they recognize the change in his character. Hans ultimately gets to make a life for himself, one where he's not shackled by the past. Also, he gets to interact with Olaf in this (seriously guys, immediate comedic potential here, this is literally one of the reasons why I want them to bring Hans back) and Kristoff which he never got to do in the first one. [this, to me, would be much more interesting. Hans' actions would not be taken lightly and the story would later punish him, but through that experience owning up to his mistakes and starting to atone; maybe meeting a few commoners during his exile which he eventually grows to care for or something would gradually kickstart his change. I really love this concept and will probably make a separate post on this that's much more elaborate and better detailed if anyone's interested. It would have to be a different beast than Fractured though, and less of a handful to write for 😅]

4 - Hans is brought back and is still portrayed as a villain, but is given the proper time for his character to be explored and given depth. He also gets an actual villain song. He plots to take vengeance on those who wronged him, but instead of being portrayed as the cunning snake he was in F1, it's more a drive out of desperation and anger. He ends up doing things he would not normally do, horrible things that do weigh on his mind but he pushes on because he sees no other way to claim his happiness; that since barely anyone cared for him when he was younger, that he learned to only care for himself. He's given moments to stop what he's doing and not escalate things further, and despite pausing, he still chooses the worst option. In the end he becomes his own worst enemy, and accidentally dies by his own hand. His defeat is not something that brings either Elsa or Anna joy despite how much he's wronged them and how justified they'd be feel some relief, his family is affected by it, and so the ending of the movie is bittersweet. [let me start off by saying that there is no way in hell Disney would have the cajones to do something this depressing, but man I would kind of love it if they did. One thing I do love about the idea of bringing Hans back and keeping him a villain is turning him into a Shakesperean tragedy, and his quest to claim his happiness by any means unnecessary would be so compelling to watch imo. Sort of similar to Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2 in that regard. You could still have another villain in this, either one with powers - seriously, introduce another elemental user in Frozen 3, Disney, pretty pls - or one/some of his family members that are up to their own nefarious plots]

Eventually David entered high school. He was working towards his A+ Certification in computers and looking towards becoming an IT Technician. A sudden (but possibly long overdue) divorce between his parents turned David's life upside down during his Junior year. The divorce didn't go well between parents.

David met Jerry Hager for the first time when he took his Beginning Acting class at the college. David knew of Jerry's "miming" down at Seaport Village and even visited his professor a few times while he was performing. It wasn't until his [Sister] [Bunny] took Jerry's mime class, and recommend that he take it with [her] again the following year, that David was introduced to the beauty of the art of mime and movement.

Approximately junior year a tall, gangly fellow (by the name of David) joined the drama club and introduced himself as such. Sam spent many'a afternoon trying to discern the Bennett twins (one wears black and one wears dragons). The only way Sam chooses to explain the early days of "Hangin' With the Bennetts" is as follows:

Hatchworth had been leaking a troublesome amount of concentrated blue matter energy[...]Mustache and all, the Walter boys locked Hatchworth in a lead vault deep within Walter Manor until they could find a solution. But months pouring over his original schematics proved fruitless for the boys and soon months turned into years...and then turned into decades.

Thats how hatchworth came about.... yeah no definitely would be insane at that point.

Finally answering one of two tagging things from @aranict - this is long overdue, to say the least…!

3 Ships:

1. Dabi/Hawks from My Hero Academia. Literally one interaction was all it took for me to go ‘oh god I ship it’ and, damn, I ship it hard. It may not be canon, but the potential for it is unreal - the snark, the parallels, the tension, the drama, that delicious enemies-to-lovers foundation, yesssss. Helps that each of them has a very attractive voice to me, too, haha X) This latest season is going to hurt me, I can tell…

2. Rowan Whitethorn/Aelin Galathynius from the Throne of Glass series. As much as I wanted these two to be much more of a slow burn than they actually were, I can forgive that when they work so well together as a couple. Crying shame also that we never got to see them literally fighting side by side, but we got “To whatever end” instead and y’know what? Iconic.

3. Zack Fair/Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII. I have loved these two for nigh on 15 years now. I found FFVII because of them. I love the innocence of their fledgling relationship, I love the tragedy that it fell victim to, but mostly I adore how happy they made each other, and how complimentary their personalities were. (I have just reached Gongaga in Rebirth too and when I say I spent 50% of this part of the game clutching my chest over my heart - augh. The Feels.)

First Ship: Had to stretch my memory back a bit, but I’m pretty sure it would have been Lenne and Shuyin from Final Fantasy X-2. That was my first ever FF game (criminal, I know, but fight me) and their story grabbed my 14-year-old heartstrings like nothing else at the time. In retrospect, it might have been the tragedy of it again, and that was probably the first tragic romance that really resonated with me? Admittedly, ‘1,000 Words’ probably helped with that, heh (still love that song).

Last Song: ‘Choke’ by The Warning, whom I discovered in the last few days and damn. Talk about fresh talent. There are very few bands for me where I prefer the live version of a song to the recorded one but these girls are breaking all my expectations. Will also recommend ‘Hell You Call A Dream’, which is the song I was recommended and that got me hooked!

Last Movie: The Crow (1994), which my local cinema put on now that trailers of the remake with Bill Skarsgård are making the rounds. To my friends’ exasperation, it was a bit lost on me. I like the concept and the basis of the story, but I didn’t quite dig the goth-ness of it (eternal apologies, Brandon Lee - it’s no slight on you, I promise). I can appreciate it as a cult classic, and for its importance at the time, but personally it wasn’t what I want from a film nowadays. Can I still call myself a 90s kid

Currently Reading: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas. I’m about 1/3 the way through, off the top of my head, and while it’s not gripping me like ToG (or even, dare I say it, ACOTAR) did, I’m liking it so far. It has, however, spurned a SJM Bingo Card between me and my two friends (who have also read the entirety of SJM’s books and are cheerleading my foray into Crescent City), which is proving to be highly amusing X)

Currently Craving: udon noodles in some kind of broth. Preferably a light, beefy one. Sick as I currently am, I just want the warm, thick, soft noodly goodness as a source of comfort and a way to flush out my sinuses. I curse my lack of takeaway options and my inability to cook one of my favourite foods for myself.

Standing with his feet apart in the center of the sparring room, Thrive acknowledged Warren with a glance over his shoulder and idly spun a staff of moderate length in one hand. "Well. The prince consort as I live and breathe."

Warren winced, stretching his arms and back as he lingered some feet away. "Yeah, I thought we agreed that wasn't it. 'Consort' sounds like 'escort,' and while I have no issues with escorts as a whole—"

"Why are you here, Warren?" Thrive watched himself in the enormous mirrors wrapped around every wall of the room and spun the staff faster. "Not that I'm necessarily unhappy to see you."

Grinning, Warren leaned down to rest his hands on his knees. "You kiddin'? I've waited for this. We haven't sparred together in ages." His demeanor did an instant one-eighty. "Necessarily unhappy? What the hell did I do now?"

Before he could get the question out, a volumetric projector in the ceiling exploded with activity—various colorful projectiles fired directly at Thrive, who knocked each one out of the way with unwavering precision using the staff. He propelled it into a blur that bounced from hand to hand, knocked projectiles out of the air, and twirled into the ceiling as he swept large red and yellow polyhedrons away from Warren. He caught the staff and pounded one end into the floor hard enough to send vibrations into the mirrors.

The projector powered down.

"It's not a matter of something you've done," Thrive said, straightening his posture and turning to Warren. "Though perhaps it is, in part. I'm expressing frustration over a situation for which I have no answers."

"Okay," Warren said, planting himself in front of him. "Get it out, then."

"I'd rather not spar with someone while I'm emotionally compromised. Especially someone who couldn't handle me."

Warren grinned. "I dunno, I think I can handle you pretty good."

"I'm aware that you've trained to handle rougher situations over the years, but if I were to lose control and cause bodily harm…"

"We still talkin' about sparring?"

Despite himself, a corner of Thrive's mouth quirked upward. "It's unwise."

"We don't have to go full-tilt, then. Just hand-to-hand, start small. You said you have no answers…maybe I have one. If I'm causing part of this, I'd like to at least try to help."

Thrive eyed him for a moment, supporting himself with the staff.

Warren waggled his eyebrows. "Safe word's 'carousel'."

Rolling his eyes dramatically, Thrive tossed the staff away and moved closer. "You're teasing, but I would feel more comfortable if we did use the safe word for this."

"Right." Warren braced himself, a little hesitant. "You're…more upset than you let on."

"Possibly," Thrive muttered before swinging a fist at Warren.

He blocked it, stepping aside. "Best to come at this directly, then. What have I done to upset you?"

Thrive took a few more swings, obviously dialing back his full strength, and each one was blocked. He dodged one of Warren's and caught him in the shoulder. "After a particularly long and overdue sleep, I awoke and it was as if a weight had crushed the inside of my chest. I ruminated over it for hours until I realized the feeling doubled whenever I thought of you having taken the two-year job on Morre."

Warren had successfully blocked a few more hits. "You thought you were okay with me going back to work for an emergency after I'd suggested I take leave, and it turns out you weren't?"

"That's not it." Thrive sidestepped a kick. "I was feeling something I'd never felt so strongly before in my life, and it alarmed me."

"Angry?" Warren acted like he was going to strike with his right fist and instead jabbed with his left—a move that, for whatever reason, always threw Thrive off his game early on in a sparring session. 

Thrive caught Warren's fist in his hand inches away from his face. "Possessive."

Warren's blood iced over and he observed Thrive's expression, the sudden accuracy of his sharp stare, the darkness behind his eyes. A chill ran through his spinal cord and bolted up into the pit of his stomach. "…This is about the arrangement," he said, voice low and definitely steadier than he imagined it'd be.

"I proposed the idea to you, yes," Thrive said firmly, moving forward so Warren had to take a few steps back, "because I wasn't about to forbid you from soothing an ache I couldn't be there to soothe."

"But you're about to," Warren breathed. "Aren't you?"

Thrive knocked his arm away and got two hits in through his dodging. "It seems that I've become very territorial about certain things."

Warren ducked a swing and his fist knocked the side of Thrive's waist. "And what does the great and powerful Orthrive'poliea have to feel territorial about?"

Thrive knocked his legs out from under him and he went down with a hard smack. Warren yelped as his back connected with the forgiving floor beside the staff, inhaling sharply when Thrive dropped and straddled his hips, pinning his wrists by his head.

"Oh holy shit," Warren gasped.

Thrive glanced at the mirror. "This."

Warren turned his head to look—the sight of Thrive holding him down and still looking pissed about it sent all kinds of signals to everywhere vulnerable. He shuddered. "If you wanna call off the arrangement, just say so."

Thrive peered down at him.

Swallowing the heat crawling up his throat, Warren flexed his wrists under Thrive's hold. "I think you may have misplaced, somewhere in that meaty brain of yours, the reason why we even made it to begin with."

"It's never left my mind."

"So then you understand that I never really wanted it, and while it scratched a fraction of the appropriate itches, it was never you and therefore not as good nor the same."

"…Yes."

"And you understand that my feelings for you cannot ever be replaced or duplicated, and if you're still having trouble realizing that after all this time, then you're hopeless and there's no saving you."

"Warren…"

"Just say you want it to end." Warren nodded. "It stops right now."

Hesitating, Thrive finally released Warren's wrists. "I'd like—"

Warren grabbed the staff and knocked it across Thrive's chest, sending him sprawling backward. When he turned over to push himself up, Warren leaped at him, sitting on his backside and wrenching his arm behind his back.

Thrive let out a harsh swear in Solnai.

"Yeah, baby," Warren laughed victoriously. He knew he could be displaced with hardly any effort, but he appreciated the very generous win nonetheless. He slapped the side of Thrive's ass. "I fucking got you, didn't I? Maybe I should be king instead."

Thrive rolled his eyes again, using his other, definitely free hand to push his hair off of his forehead.

"So, uh…what were you saying?"

"I was going to say that I'd like to end the arrangement since you offered."

"Mhm." Warren nodded, taking a bit of a vain mental snapshot of their position from how it appeared in the mirror. "You know what that would mean, then, don't you?"

"If you're going to propose that I abdicate, I have to remind you that the Consortium wouldn't—"

"I'm gonna retire."

Thrive closed his mouth. Pushed himself up so he could look at Warren, who smiled at him. "As much as—Skies, Warren, get off of me already. As much as I'd like to argue the point, I…can't."

They helped each other to their feet, and Warren placed his hands on his hips, still a bit out of breath. "It's been a long time in the making. I can keep up the dance classes since I get more joy out of that, anyway. Plus, I'm not in the headspace to let down a bunch of kids."

"Having you with me without fear of extended separations or injury or worse does sound…"

"Kind of amazing?" Warren's smile widened.

Thrive crossed his arms. "I wish I'd broached the subject with you sooner."

"That brings up a point…" Warren stepped closer until he was in Thrive's space. "Next time you have a problem with me," he said loudly, "fucking talk to me about it, idiot. It's this wonderful and innovative thing called communication."

Thrive fixed him with a dark look. "Punish me about it."

For at least five seconds, Warren absorbed that look and the question. His gaze dropped to Thrive's lips, and he paced away to take a fighting stance. "Okay. That set the tone for the rest of the day."

"My harness is somewhere around the capital house. The safe word is 'carousel,' by the way."

Warren halted to narrow his eyes at him. "Like you have ever needed the safe word. For anything."

Thrive winked at him before they took up sparring again, this time charged quite differently.

1. Reflector: To enhance my portrait photography, I’ve added a reflector to my wishlist. After researching various options, I found that many photographers recommend a 5-in-1 round reflector, ideally between 100–110 cm in size. This type of reflector will help me soften harsh contrasts and create more even lighting in my photos. As a beginner, a 5-in-1 reflector is a versatile and practical choice. These reflectors can be held either by a stand or an assistant, which works perfectly for my needs.

After considering different brands and retailers, I’ve chosen to include a 5-in-1 reflector set from ScandinavianPhoto.no on my wishlist. This reputable website offers a wide range of photography equipment from trusted brands like Canon, Nikon, and Fujifilm. 2. Tripod:

Aluminum tripods are heavier, which can be slightly less practical for traveling, but they make up for it with superior stability. Carbon tripods, while lighter and easier to carry, can be top-heavy. I learned this the hard way in my teens when my beloved Canon EOS 1000D took a heroic leap of faith from a poorly balanced carbon tripod. Let’s just say the camera didn’t survive the adventure, and I’ve been a firm believer in sturdy tripods ever since.

Another advantage of aluminum tripods is that they’re typically more affordable. With this in mind, I’ve added the Benro SuperSlim Tripod Kit in aluminum to my wishlist. It’s lightweight yet, most importantly, stable. The built-in leveler is a great feature, saving time and effort by reducing the need for adjustments in editing. It also comes with a convenient travel bag, making it easy to transport. Like the reflectors, I found this tripod on ScandinavianPhoto.no for 990 NOK. My reasons for choosing this site remain the same.

3. Lens: Currently, I only own a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens, so adding a versatile all-in-one lens to my kit is essential. I’m looking for a lens that works well for both landscape and portrait photography. After some research, the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM stood out as the ideal choice. It’s praised for being a reliable all-in-one option, offering quick zoom capabilities, fast and accurate autofocus, and a lightweight design that’s perfect for traveling.

This lens is priced at 5,989 NOK on ScandinavianPhoto.no. Its versatility eliminates the need to carry multiple lenses, making it an excellent fit for my needs.

4. Memory Card: My current memory card, a SanDisk CF Ultra 8GB 30MB/s, is long overdue for an upgrade. I’m adding two SanDisk CF Extreme 32GB 120MB/s cards to my wishlist. Having a backup is always a smart move, especially for extended shoots.

Cewe JapanPhoto.no offers these cards for 499 NOK each, which is consistent with prices from other retailers. I’ve chosen Cewe because I’m familiar with and trust their service. While the shipping fee is only 44 NOK, I live near one of their stores, so picking up the cards in person will be easy and convenient.

5. Spare Batteries: Spare batteries are essential—no one wants to be in the middle of a shoot only to realize, “Oh no, I’m out of battery.” Having a backup is just common sense. Since I use a Canon EOS 7D, I’ll need Canon LP-E6NH batteries. These batteries aren’t standardized, and it can be tricky to gauge the reliability of off-brand options. For this reason, I’ve decided to stick with Canon’s original batteries for peace of mind.

After researching where to purchase them, I found that Cewe JapanPhoto.no offers the best deal for me. Their price is 1,259 NOK, with a shipping cost of 44 NOK. While some websites offer free shipping, their overall product prices are higher than Cewe’s, making this my preferred choice.

6. Traveling Bag:

When selecting a travel bag, I need something that can comfortably hold all my essential equipment: a tripod, extra batteries, memory cards, one or two lenses, and my camera. Personally, I prefer a backpack or shoulder bag for ease of carrying. After researching various options, I found several photographers recommending the WANDRD PRVKE 21L Photo Bundle. This bag is waterproof, spacious, and highly practical. While the price is on the higher side, it’s a worthwhile investment considering it will house all my gear, protect it from the elements, and guard against potential damage.

I found a store in Stavanger that sells this model for 3,899 NOK, and it includes additional accessories. The shipping fee is 99 NOK, which is quite reasonable. This makes it a solid choice for my needs.

So a quick update before I take my headache and go work on a new theme for @shinrarisen, I've been working here and there on Sera's divergences page! I'm still working on the sidequests for Gongaga and really refuse to leave the area until I've seen all of it, but I have finished the primary storyline there regarding the reactor - And because of this, I've gone and decided it was time to get things rolling on long overdue updates:

From here on I'm open to writing up to the end of the events with the reactor in Gongaga! I've been holding off specifically because Zack, Sera, and their family are settled there, and I didn't want to do anything without knowing what was going on with the village through playing it myself. Small reminder though that since Remake introduced the idea of of multiple timelines, the one @honorisen and I write is not the canon timeline; 98% of the canonical Remake/Rebirth events do happen here, but there are some divergences - And that's why I've been updating!

I will not be following the 'Aerith meets Zack's parents' scene as it was portrayed on any of my blogs. Personally, the more I think about it, the less sense it makes to me, especially given Cissnei is in Gongaga, and for that alone I'll be moving forward with the idea his parents are somewhat aware of what's happened with Zack even prior to Sera bringing him home, and have been taught to cover for both Zack, Sera, and their family by pretending he's missing - Prior to meeting Sera after the reactor explodes, they're under the impression he's been KIA, learn he's actually MIA after meeting her and later having this confirmed by Cissnei when she moves to Gongaga, and then further become the family's greatest allies when Zack comes home. His parents are unaware Sera's Zack's fiance until Cissnei tells them - So when Cloud and Co. come to Gongaga, his parents are able to convincingly come off as parents missing their son. This also applies in OG settings, where even though Cissnei is not involved, Sera has told them Zack is MIA, and they've previously thought him to be KIA.

Following from the above, I've adjusted my timeline to fit in the Rebirth events; Sera is in town prior to the reactor's explosion, meets Zack's parents after, and moves closer to them on earning their (and the other villagers') trust. She befriends Cissnei when she also moves to the village, then later leaves for the Midgar area to meet with Zack and bring him home and adopt their second son, Yuga, on the way back around the end of Remake. They later marry and start up a jack of all trades type business, and due to this job, are out of the village when Cloud's group comes by. They're unable to return to Gongaga until after they leave due to infantry in the area. Shayan spend their entire visit locked up in the Fair family home, unseen, while Yuga tends to everything else for him, both boys checked on occasionally by Cissnei until Sera and Zack return.

I've adjusted the timing of events to more closely follow OG's, given the timing of events in Remake seems to be a little different/off from OG, while also being very vague and seemingly (to me) a little contradictory with itself. This helps me personally keep track of things a bit easier.

I've really made OG verse request only. As much as I love the original game, what Sera ended up dealing with and the path she takes in OG is incredibly restricting and angsty at best, and I can't find a way around that that would make any kind of sense, for either Sera OR Shayan. As a result, my canon follows CC into Remake/Rebirth, and I won't be touching OG without some super heavy plotting and requests, first.

This reblog is long overdue and for that I am SO SORRY, Hazel! I binged this beautiful romance folktale all in one sitting WEEKS AGO, and it has been on my mind ever since. This was truly such a fun, sweet, adventurous read and I absolutely loved getting completely lost in it. This has been on my TBR list for ages and I am so happy that I finally indulged because I have clearly been missing out and meeting Selkie Ezra has brought me so much joy. If anyone else has been missing out, I STRONGLY suggest that you change that NOW. Need a good bedtime story? This is it, friends! This is the one! Get cozy (Ezra really likes to get cozy) and crack this one open because you will not regret it.

I loved everything about this story from the set up to the end. Seriously. I am enamored by Reader's family and their little town and the ins and outs of their daily life. I can feel the bitter ache of Reader's loneliness. Ezra's canon traits mixing with the selkie traits (so protective!!!!) and the way you included Cee and their relationship was perfect. There were moments of suspense and moments where I was legitimately afraid for these characters (when Reader's big dumb husband was being big and dumb, mainly) and then there were moments when I was kicking my feet and giggling (Ezra being such a snuggle bug with all the nuzzling and securing himself to Reader like velcro) and then there were times when I wanted to unleash my rage on the small thinking people in town. BUT MOSTLY I just wanted to protect these babes with my entire life. And Tilda. Tilda is the MVP.

I truly loved the inclusion of Gaeilge in this story, too. The words and phrases you chose to use are beautiful. Ezra calling her his treasure is so fitting - like aurelac!

Something that I always feel when I read your stories, Hazel, is how apparent it is that you love the characters you're writing about. There is a kind of happiness and joy that seems both inherent and intentional in your work and it always makes for a really warm and pleasant experience - even when we're being plunged into the cold sea. This story, and your writing in general, feel like a warm hug.

I somewhat selfishly hope that you never stop adding moments to their story, because I would happily devour them forever. I know I'll be returning to this world whenever I need some extra comfort. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating and sharing this stunner! <3

A Long-Overdue Status Update

Hello, old and new followers alike! (As well as casual lurkers. XD) 

 As you may know, for the past 3 years, I haven’t been particularly active on Tumblr. I’ve never formally provided an explanation for this, and as such, I feel like I owe you all one so that you’re not all in the dark…

Starting in early 2020, a combination of factors were preventing me from posting as frequently as I used to. Most of this boiled down to school suddenly kicking up, but a large chunk of it also revolved around the fact that my mental health had been declining for several years by that point and had started to get really bad around the time COVID-19 hit the US. Additionally, I also started to lose passion for my writing project, which led me to post chapter updates every few months rather than a few times a month. In light of that, I’ve realized that something ought to change, and after some long thought, I’ve come to some new conclusions…

Firstly, I will be finishing my writing series’ last few chapters quite soon, simply because I believe it deserves a conclusion after having started it nearly 4 years ago (God, does time fly), but beyond that point, it will be entirely retconned and scrapped. I started this when my writing was not as good as it is now, and as such, I feel as though it is no longer representative of my present quality. That said, new writing projects will take its place, but writing posts will still be less frequent though much longer. 

Secondly, you can expect creature posts to happen soon. This will not change in the slightest. 

Thirdly, I have recently retconned and rewritten a large part of the lore surrounding my series, and having officially rebranded, my socials will now focus on this newer continuity. What was once “the Xenogaea Chronicles” is now the “Tales of the Xenos Cycle”, a much more expansive version of the world I had been previously working with. With this rebranding, other people can also contribute to the expansive world and its lore, whether that be something as simple as new species to entire worlds. 

This may lead you to the question of, “Wait, so what’s even canon anymore?”.

ONLY the writing is being retconned at the moment. Many of the creatures and characters I have posted about are not. 

Now, with that out of the way, let us usher in a new era of this fictional multiverse I have created. Other socials related to this project include:

I was not a friend of modern au's until I read this "long-shot" xD. The whole concept is very interesting. I especially like how Sokka is portrayed in this one. His personality and actions make sense and doesn't get influenced by other's. His relationship with Azula is very cute. The families are described very well too.

It's the right thing for me. I change/ignore/rewrite it like this for reasons. Otherwise it’s not acceptable for me:) So in this one Sokka does not sleep with anyone in chapter 28 and goes straight to Azula. The rest of the story works perfectly well and same this way too. It fits Sokka‘s character more since he has a high moral. And this way I like him and respect him).
