So, I noticed that Tinker-the-dragon showed you storyboards of their own animatic (which looks great btw, can't wait to see it), and since you said you enjoyed seeing the process, I figured I'd do the same! After all, having people acknowledge and get excited for my WIPs gives me a sense of accountability to finish it, which makes it much more likely to actually get done.

So, behold my chaotic, colorful rough sketches!

The process is slow-going, since I am simultaneously working on a couple other creative projects, some are tangentially related to this one (like how I'm finalizing my headcanon designs for all the turtles beyond just Donnie), and some aren't (like drawing long overdue art of my D&D party's characters).

I'm also making some guesses/taking some liberties when it comes to the timeline. Like, I'm assuming that this AU takes place post S2 finale, and thus will take place in the new lair, but I don't actually know. (If this has been addressed in asks before, I'm probably too new of a fan of SnapDonnie to have paid attention to those asks, and don't have the attention span to scroll through a ton of asks just to obtain a specific bit of information)

Similarly, I don't know exactly at what point Donnie starts attracting flies. It might not be as early as I'm depicting here. I can certainly move that part to a later section, but I don't know what I'd replace it with.

In general, if you have suggestions for things to be changed/switched around to better fit with the 'canon' of SnapDonnie, I'd love to hear it. It's better to make changes now while things are still very rough and flexible, than once I'm more committed and frames have taken quite a bit more effort to make.

Sorry for the super long 'ask,' this ended up being a bit of an info-dump lol.

thats so cool omg!! And im just gonna go a bit crazy over the frames if u dont mind me~ BUT THE ONE WITH THE SHADOW??? thats literally so creative im obsessed with it. I love cinematic shots like that, they just make my brain buzz <3

and the one where hes doing thumbs up to Raph absolutely cracked me up!

Also to answer your questions- SnapDonnie takes please after the movie, So Raph has a blind eye and hole in his shell/plastron, Mikey has his scars (though u cant drawing them in bandages to aviod drawing them if i want -i always forget to draw them lol) and Leo has a leg brace.

And as for the flies, Donnie starts to attract them basically immediately once the physical changes start, though he basically douses himself with insect repellent at first (while he still wants to repel them) So frames 24 and 25 would go after he really starts to change instead of before.

Some more storyboards for my Control animatic!

Progress is very slow-going, but it's going! I've put one of my ongoing creative projects on the backburner for now, so hopefully I'll be able to work on this more frequently.

Fun fact. I was originally going to use a reference from the movie for Donnie's lab in frames 41-45, but when I couldn't find one quick enough, I decided to just use the computer setup you drew for the recent Open Your Shell chapter as a reference instead. On a similar note, I picture the standing mirror in frames 46-50 to be the same one in Donnie's lab mentioned in Open Your Shell.

If you have any questions, I'd love to answer them! It's taking a lot of self-restraint to not start info-dumping about everything and making this ask ridiculously long.

so im not sure since when your asking to be caught up from, so ill just generally sum up my aus and stuff.

so general blog things first: I love receiving asks and fanart! both are great and light up my day :) tagging me in art and ask games are totally cool as well!

so aus (i know you probably know them all already but this may be for people who dont)

First we have Open Your Shell to Find Your Wings, which is shortened to Open Your Shell (i dont use the acronym bc it scares me), which is my longest running fic- i try to update every week to the best of my ability! please check my masterpost for a blog summary.

then we have my comics! which are all right here on tumblr! they update very erraticly and i dont have a set schedule for any of them. my most active ones are Unmutated Donnie, SnapDonnie, and Mosquitello (there is a theme here) the rest are kinda on the backburner lol, again, see my masterpost for plot details

Mosquitello is very interactive, with plot directing polls. you are encouraged to present offerings such as shiny rocks and crystals.

also! i thrive off interaction and most of my posts are me replying to asks and such, so dont be afraid to jump on the bandwagon!

My blog can get pretty chaotic at times, with random stuff happening some days (the day i waged war on rubber ducks was fun, or the day there was a battle on the subject that Soup is Dip (which it is))

there are a few proto-aus floating around, such as a little minecraft au (which may become a fully fledged au depending on interest and once i finish a comic and free up some time) which u can find under the #minecraft tag in my blog.

I wanted to celebrate by drawing something a bit creepier than I normally do, and since I've been obsessed with the AUs by @onejellyfishplease I thought I might as well draw SnapDonnie. The more paintery style was really fun, and helped make the drawing look more moody and ominous.

I have something else I plan on posting later, that will have cozier and cuter vibes, so stay tuned for that.

Hi hi!! I have questions regarding snapdonnie (plant boy)

Can he talk? If he can what would it sound like? How would he try to hide this from his brothers if he does? Are your commissions open? Oh I wonder if he would just disappear. I imagine this is sensory hell for him. On top of having to eat bugs. eugh hahahaha I love this! He kinda reminds me of those mushroom zombies (/pos)!! What are your thoughts on him? I would love to hear more about this creature against nature (or with nature now, haha!!) I was originally here for open your wings but I have gotten thoroughly attached to the wacky Donnie fusions. Are you alright if people draw him?? How did you do this?? This is so cool!!! I love all of your Donnie designs but he is most definitely my favorite.

I will try to answer all your questions, me and @zeawesomeness were just throwing ideas around for SnapDonnie, so theres quite a bit to talk about!

What does he sound like:

I'd imaging real gurgly when he's like that, but he absolutely hates the sound of his voice, and the fact that most of what he says is muddled. So id say he mostly uses sign language to communicate. while he can still do that

How would he hide it from his brothers:

He would definitely try at the beginning! especially when it starts off as a small growth on his softshell, but eventually the consequences get too big and it gets revealed relatively quickly (at least compared to Open your Shell)

Are my commisions open:

uhhhh, not at the moment, but if there's enough interest in commissions for my art (which would be amazing) then i would be open to opening them!

Is this sensory hell for him?

Absolutely. especially now that flies are attracted to him. he hates it. his shell is consistently moving and it is hell.

My thoughts on him:

I live this creepy little dude. but now there is a little bit of trepidation with it. because now i want to turn this into a proper au and i need to stop doing this to myself.

More about SnapDonnie!

he was infected with this venus fly trap-like curse (from what I havent figured out yet, either kraang or mystic)

it started as a growth in his shell, which then sprouted those flytraps (which he couldnt hide)

the energy needed for the transformations makes Donnie ravenous, and the more he eats, the faster he turns. this is the part where his family find out.

yes he was compelled into eating raw (kinda rancid) meat.

they find out that this infection will continue until Donnie is fully turned into a carnivorous plant.

at the end of the transformation, Donnies face would split open and the single flower would bloom.

Small teeth-like spines are growing down the middle of Donnies face.

Donnie has to balance, starving himself without rotting/wilting (bc yes he does that now), while not eating too much that the transformation continues at too fast a pace.

it doesnt help that sometimes he goes feral (and his face does the splitty open thing), and attacks and tries to eat anything in his path. including his family. Ah yes. Angst.

so they need to figure out how to help Donnie before they loose him forever.

Okay I think Im done with ranting lol.
