they are both industrious adventurers, prolific hard-workers (team task doers), and a little cheekily competitive!

i think that bandee is no stranger to a wide variety of close and intense relationships; he's beloved by many and loves them all equally but distinctly in turn. magolor on the other hand has been sooo isolated and lonely for such a long-ass time, he barely knows how to be friends let alone really care for someone. bandee is smart enough to be suitably wary but kind enough to give him a chance despite that, which i think would knock him off his non-existent feet instantly. in reply, magolor could give him something unique by loving and prioritising him utterly singularly, in a way bandee wouldn't even have realised he was missing

in awtdy (pictured in the sketch page; if you see a tattered looking magolor in my art it's probably this au) in particular they are both thrown into the angst soup together and come out insanely trauma bonded at the hip. their friendship/relationship is central to the plotline; together they're working on a solution to the timeline anomaly, while also hiding that they even really know each other the whole time

The Pale Son AU

In this AU, Xero is an ant-moth hybrid, who hatched during the time of the Pale King’s rule of Hallownest but before the infection began. He was abandoned at this time, and was found by some of the King’s guards. Because the King wanted an heir to his throne and to make him look even better to the moth tribe, he took in Xero as his son.

Xero’s name at this time was the Pale Son, or the Prince, so I’ll be calling him Prince until later. He trained with the Five Great Knights, even becoming part of their line of defense (so technically, the Six Great Knights), and Prince was dressed like the guards, rather than his red look.

And for all of you Crimson Nail fans, Markoth was also a civilian of Hallownest and had befriended Prince. They were incredibly close, but no romantic connection was ever made.

However, despite all of this sounding great, the Pale King was still dismissive of Prince. Since he wasn’t a true pale being, the King would often neglect him or put pressure on Prince to be as perfect as a Pale Being, despite that being impossible.

This got even worse for Prince when the Pure Vessel ascended from the Abyss. Prince had no idea about the purpose of the vessels, so when he saw that the King was much more attentive and close to the Pure Vessel, Prince felt threatened and betrayed by this. He was afraid that the Pure Vessel would usurp him as the Prince of Hallownest, even though we all know that could never happen.

This resentment and heartbreak was exactly what the Radiance wanted. She began to infect the dreams of Prince, and saying that if he killed the King, Queen, and the Vessel, he would get to become an even more powerful king after them. Obviously, Prince jumped at this idea.

Prince trained with Soul Master (who was also infected but didn’t know it yet) to harness soul to create weapons, which is how he got his signature swords. Soul Master mainly helped because he was also upset at the King, so he’ll support any coup against him as long as the Soul Sanctum gets funded.

Once he was far gone in the infection, Prince changed his name to Xero, to signify the amount of hope and love he had in the Pale King, and turned his weapons against the throne. His blue coloring changes to red from the infection. He actually got pretty far until the Pure Vessel was called in to fight off Xero.

Now, this goes in two different directions for an ending, so I’ll call one ending the True Ending and the other one the Bad Ending.

True Ending

The Pure Vessel defeats Xero, and it leads to the Pale King having to execute him via beheading. This broke the King’s heart, because he did really care for Xero, and to see someone close to him infected took a toll on him.

Xero was given a warrior’s grave in the Resting Grounds, with a warning to anyone about rebellion. As a ghost, Xero was disgruntled and couldn’t move on until the Knight shows him the truth. He accepts his defeat and his death, and finally rests.

Bad Ending

The Pure Vessel is defeated and killed, which shook everyone in the throne room enough for Xero to execute both the Pale King and the White Lady.

Xero crowns himself as king, and his first order is to exile the Five Knights. The Five were extremely shaken up and still injured from Xero’s attacks, especially Isma, so in order to not make things worse, they hid somewhere to keep themselves safe until they could fight back again.

King Xero’s infection gets even worse, but he still recognizes Markoth as a friend and makes him his Vizier, or Adviser. Markoth is horrified to learn about what happened to the Pale Court, but is still hoping that his true friend Prince was still there.

However, this would never be the case. Xero made efforts to bring the Radiance back, despite what Soul Master wanted at the time, and Xero would eventually grow to become much more like a moth or a red version of a mortal Radiance.

After witnessing an execution from King Xero, Markoth quits his job and says that he’s never returning to Hallownest. Xero, much more the vessel for the Radiance than himself, promises Markoth that if he ever returned, he would die by his blade.

King Xero is completely alone now, and while he’s much more powerful, it’s lonely and barren at the top, and he realizes he was just a vessel for the Radiance.

But it’s too late. The Radiance won, and he’s doomed to be the sole king of a dead kingdom.

Does Jiro has ghost like abilities (possession, ability to levitate things, etc etc) or does she just live in Shiro's head?

when i created this au, i thought the best option would be for her to be unable to interact with the physical world in any way(including possesion), beacuse i really wanted to lean into her isolation and how it affects her....... and while thats something i still want to emphasise here, lately ive been toying with the idea of jiro being able to impact the physical world somehow(though it still being fairly limited). i think letting her have some control could have a lot of potential! buuuut i also have no idea what abilities i want her to have lol

For now i think im not gonna give her any telekinetic abilities, bc i feel like it would be giving her too much power......... if she could throw shit, shed go APESHIT with it. it would made things too easy for her. i'm sorry babygirl but i'm NOT giving you the possibilty to throw knives and other sharp objects, i dont trust you to not kill someone:/

i really like the idea of her being able to temporarily posses her old body in certain circumstances tho- maybe when shiros uncouncious?? or like when hes is very tired or heavily injured she can kind of 'squeeze through' and take control back for a few minutes???? idk. i think this could be a very cool ability to give her- it cant be frequently used but can also be very helpful, and also theres so much potential for ✨shenanigans✨here>:) oh god i could put these fuckers in so many Situations with this..........

uhhh. so basically i think all of her influence on the physical world are through shiro. shes here bc of her connection to her old body, and thus its the only way for her to interact with anyone besides him- and shes NOT HAPPY about this(neither is shiro).

Something something about pure vanilla being in an arranged marriage with white lily idk, was listening to sarah (alex g) and i got the idea from the lyrics “i can’t be what you need, i am stuck in a dream” and i was like HMMM… WHAT IF I. made this about cookie gaem (like like what if “i am stuck in a dream” could refer to pv feeling trapped in what should be an ideal life) but yeah i’m just throwing around ideas for plot points in this AU what could add angst yk XD this was mostly painting practice though haha… Frey is mentally unwell over cookies moment !!

Stillborn? No, still born au -- Dani Phantom! Clone girl herself. :]

She can't exist in this au. And it's not that I don't want to add her -- although I'll be blunt, I don't, I'll be the first to admit that I think she's more often than not nothing more than a narrative deadweight used to prop up Danny and I don't like adding characters as props -- but her existence quite literally goes against and muddies the Vlad and Danny dynamic I have for this au. Ellie's existence in canon itself states that she was created -- and Danny's other clones too -- because Vlad gave up on trying to convert him to his side and decided to just make a son instead.

Something that just, doesn't happen in the stillborn-still born au. See, for folks who are only just hearing about this au or didn't see my post about Vlad in this au, he and Danny have a complicated love-hate relationship where they mutually want to adopt each other, but their morals and way of doing things -- mainly Vlad's insistence on getting revenge against the Fentons -- gets in the way of them being able to do that in full.

Vlad knows Danny wants him to adopt him, and is only fighting him on it because he refuses to let Vlad kill the Fentons for essentially killing the both of them. He's succeed in 50% of his goal. Canon Vlad never even made it to 1%. With that in mind, stillborn Vlad has no reason and sees no reason to clone Danny, he has his son. He just needs to convince him to let him avenge them both.

Dani simply has no place in the stillborn-still born au. And in fact, if Vlad did decide to clone Danny -- for whatever reason, -- it would damage his relationship with Danny damn near beyond repair. That's because Danny would view it the same way he views Damian's existence; as a replacement for himself. He would become beyond furious and hurt, and not for the typical 'I can't believe you cloned me, you creep!' reason, but for a 'I can't believe you cloned me, you said I was your son!' reason.

I am not pulling any punches here when I say Danny wants Vlad to be his dad just as much as Vlad wants Danny to be his son, there's just a lot of factors getting in the way. They are, as the french say, ✨mentally unwell.✨ Danny has a ton of abandonment and trust issues due to his experiences in foster care. He would immediately become jealous, insecure, and incredibly furious and hurt. He'd despise her on principal and want nothing to do with her, or Vlad for that matter. He'd just fucking haaate her. It's not her fault she was made but Danny doesn't really care, he's lashing out and pushing people away because he's been betrayed yet again.

The only way they could get along or for Danny to actually like her in any capacity would be if it was his idea to clone himself. Which is like, kinda obvious but considering most clone plots tend to be non-consensual it's kinda gotta be said. He has to have a hand in creating her, that's the only way I can see him liking her in any way. Or if someone other than Vlad created her. If Vlad clones him though, all bets are off the table and he'll despise her.

TL;DR: Dani can't exist in this au because she goes against the narrative I've got for the two most fucked up half-dead could-be-father-son duo in existence, but if she did exist Danny would despise her.

It had been another gloomy day, rain falling steadily against the windows on your apartment, you didn't mind rain but lightning and thunder... you were not a fan of.

Seriously what am I doing?

You took the athame in your right hand, hissing dramatically at the pain of stabbing your own finger. As you quickly glanced around, you had a flash of sanity and stopped yourself from finishing the incantation by lighting a black candle. All sorts of weird ingredients like rosemary, an old t-shirt serving as a canvas to draw a pentagram, goat milk and a dagger were sprawled over your coffee table. Anyone who saw would probably think you were mental. 

And maybe you were.

You looked over at the old book resting on your lap and then at your reflection on the mirror resting against the wall by your entryway. You sighed and closed the book, letting your back fall backwards until it hit the carpet.

You looked at the ceiling, sighing again. Were you that desperate? 

Yes.

It ached deep inside you to look at the couples walking around the streets, friends talking about their crushes and even when you caught people flirting with each other at the cafe you worked at. It made you feel incredibly empty.

Why did nobody want you in their lives? You didn't consider yourself ugly, nor did you have a bad character... OK maybe you were extra sensitive but that affected you only. Mostly.

You sighed as you closed your eyes, willing away dark memories. You sat up and were faced again with the incantation things, you furrowed your brows, you had all this love you could give but nobody wanted you.

The mental image brought a contempt smile to your face, manifesting a lover that was perfect for you.

Someone that couldn't get enough of me, that liked me the way I am...

So. It's quite obvious, the missing space where the future Tim and future Sasha should be. But they aren't. For awhile it was simply thought to be because this was the house of future Martin and Jon, not the house of the missing future Tim or Sasha!

But that empty space quickly became VERY aparent. Especially when noting how the future pair acted towards the past Sasha and Tim.

The future Jon was cagey, more cagey than what could be excused as "well it's abit awkward to be around a past version of your friends" and instead more the level of "I did something awful but you don't know what that awful thing is yet"

Future Martin was not nearly as shakey but with Sasha he acted as if she was more a friend of a friend of a friend of a cousin than someone he actually knew. With Tim he still had a familiarity but also a level of sadness- not that guilty saddness that the future Jon had but more the one of- mourning? He was good at not showing it but Sasha was not daft and Tim was the kind of fellow who paid extra mind towards others and how they felt- especially when those emotions were related to him

So, yes, the pair did notice the fact their future selves were not around.

So uh yeah I am intensely thinking abt Tim and Sashas opinions on their future selves absences <3 and how future Martin n Jon feel about the past versions of their gone Coworkers <3

ok I feel like it’s the cop-out answer to say “his fall to the ring” but I feel like Boromir is the sort of person to.. not like stew on things but very much takes the stance of “good or bad, all my choices got me to the current moment and made me who I am.” + I feel like there’s so much tangled up in his fall completely beyond his control where that’s the only memory that he’d like. actively want to erase from his mind

2. What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?

HM. good with kids. I think unless you’d seen him with Faramir/his cousins when they were younger you wouldn’t guess (he’s a soldier and a very plain man when he’s not putting on a show for his father), but he’s just genuinely great with kids

3. What is your OC's fatal flaw? Are they aware of this flaw?

loves too much + quick to lose hope. painfully aware of this

4. When scared, does your OC fight, flee, freeze or fawn?

fight response. 100% the kind of man who gets kicked out of a haunted house for punching a scareactor even though he knew a scare was coming. Faramir and Aragorn have both almost gotten throttled bc they unintentionally snuck up on him

5. How far is your OC willing to go to get what they want?

OOO. When He Is Of Sound Mind, not actually very far. he was raised with the knowledge he would be giving his life to Gondor, whether he died in battle or sat on the throne as steward. add to that the act he puts on for Denethor, everything he does to protect Faramir— he’s a man born to serve. his own wants come last

6. How easily could your OC be convinced to do something that goes against their moral compass?

it would take. a DESPERATELY long time and an almost complete degradation of his mental state. Boromir arrives in Rivendell in October 3018, and the very next day is the Council, at which point he sees the ring and is IMMEDIATELY influenced by it. yet he doesn’t fully fall to it until the end of February 3019. he’d been fighting its pull for almost four whole months by the time he does anything malicious. resisting the One Ring for FOUR MONTHS. <- reasons why if I see someone call Boromir weak for falling to it I will see red.

7. What's one way your OC has changed since you first came up with them?

teehee obviously again Boromir is not my OC so I will take this as an excuse to Be A Kinnie + say, I do remember Boromir being returned to us sometime after my coronation. so that’s one way my memories differ from canon, which is sort of an answer to this prompt snfjsjfj

8. Would your OC ostensibly be able to get away with murder?

OH YEAH. I mean yeah if we’re talking like actual criminal murder and not just Slaying People On A Battlefield like. yeah 100% he would IF he was within Minas Tirith. you know Denethor would do everything in his power to cover that up lmfao

HMMMMM The Frankenstein Chronicles gave me brain worms so I might write a Frankenstein-inspired thing at some point. sth sth consequences of divine resurrection

11. What is your OC's weapon of choice? Have they ever actually used it?

RAAAAGH. AUTISM TIMEEEEE.

Boromir uses a hand-and-a-half arming sword (meaning it’s balanced for single or double-handed use, with a crossguard). it’s a really elegant sword, very simple and utilitarian. speaks to an adaptable combat style as well. but, interestingly? Boromir carries a Rohirric shield, and if you notice Rohirric swords don’t actually HAVE crossguards the way Gondorian blades do. this tracks, and was common with Roman and early Germanic swords— BECAUSE these cultures were Also relying on shields for blocking.

and an additional note, Faramir’s sword is single-handed. so we’ve got a ranger who prefers the use of a bow and hasn’t experimented much with his sword combat, and his brother who prefers a sword and carries a very versatile blade with 1) a Rohirric shield and 2) a ranger’s vambraces designed to protect his arms from a (nonexistent) bowstring. I just find Boromir’s mix of protective gear so interesting, esp if you consider he and Théodred as at LEAST friends. like Boromir carries so much of the people he cares for with him into strange lands even when he (arguably) has little need for such gear

12. Is your OC self-destructive? In what ways?

yes and no. I think, not consciously? but he absolutely values himself lower than the people he cares for. he goes to Rivendell to keep Faramir out of danger, he takes multiple arrows to the chest and keeps fighting to defend Merry and Pippin. I think if there’s a risk of someone he loves getting hurt, all self-preservation goes out the window

13. If you met your OC, would the two of you get along?

oh I would be staring at him like a predatory animal and trying to psychically convince him to lay on me in full armor

14. How does your OC want to be seen by other characters?

HGH. ok I don’t think he necessarily. does?? and this is generally a Silly Little Headcanon bc of a comment a Most Beloved Friend made abt how everyone gets their autism from their dad (real+true) + now in my head “haha Faramir got his autism from Boromir instead” BUT. like genuinely I don’t think Boromir has an actual image of himself in his head or like processes that ppl perceive him, necessarily. and particularly when his father is holding him up as this aspirational figurehead for Gondor, like… I think he’s just himself, in his head. idk how to describe it well for the neurotypical ppl in the room snfskfjs sorry. like I don’t process myself as having Traits so ppl tell me they think I’m cool or funny or they enjoy being around me and it’s always like “!!! oh!” + I think Boromir is the same way. I think Faramir could describe Boromir to him + Boromir would just be like. “huh.”

15. Does your OC have a faceclaim? If so, who?

it’s Sean Bean + it will always be Sean Bean. sorry other Boromirs you simply pale in comparison

VERY high by necessity. he’s a soldier he’s absolutely patched up his own injuries before, at least to hold over until he could see an actual healer

17. What is the worst thing you have put your OC through story-wise?

ahh. I wrote a very personal fic exploring self harm urges w/ Boromir, so I suppose that

very personable, when he’s of sound mind sndnsj

oh he’s a silent anger type for sure. just seethes quietly. hello, consequences of spending time in an environment where you have no actual outlet for your anger + must simply sit there and Stew.

again, When He’s Of Sound Mind, no. the man’s got a big heart and life’s too short to be petty

hitting him with the autism beam bc I can. I do also think he’s lost at least partial use of his arm in a Boromir Lives scenario, considering where the first arrow struck him

22. What character alignment would you consider your OC to be?

HMMM neutral good. he’s not chaotic enough to be.. chaotic (lol), and I think he’s too willing to go against Gondorian Popular Opinion to be lawful.

23. What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express?

HMMMMM pain, actually. or “weakness.” I think if he can quantify it in his head as “showing weakness” then it’s getting stuffed in a mental box and Not Addressed

24. What is an alternative life path your OC might have gone down? How different would their life be if they'd made those decisions?

ok well. None. I think with his circumstances he had zero choice in his path. HOWEVER. I am deeply DEEPLY fond of Boromir learning how to play an instrument after the war ends. I STILL struggle to blow my wassail horn that shit takes SKILL that I do not currently have and Boromir was the BEST at blowing his horn?????? I think he deserves to learn how to play an instrument, esp bc Aragorn, Merry and Pippin would ALL be delighted to have Boromir play while they sing. Boromir learning hobbit folk songs????? Rohirric songs, to honor Théodred?? yeagh.

25. What is your favorite thing about your OC?

HES SO. FUNDAMENTALLY LOVING. love is such a core aspect of his character he is so wholly loving that the ring has NO CHOICE but to try to twist that love. bc it’s all Boromir has. love. im going to throw up abt him.

has he ever BEEN completely alone? mm, no. has he ever felt that isolated? I think absolutely, by the time the fellowship leaves Caras Galadhon. obviously he doesn’t deal with it well el oh el.

as for how he acts when no one’s around to see him… I don’t think much changes, tbh. he’s not the kind of man to Perform for anyone except his father, and then with the express purpose of placating the man and keeping his ire towards Faramir to a minimum

been betrayed? hm. truthfully, no, though I’m certain he felt betrayed by Aragorn’s reluctance to be anything resembling a king.

has He betrayed someone? Technically Yes, though again, if we apply the qualifier of “When He’s Of Sound Mind” the answer is no. his betrayal comes under the influence of a Malicious Magical Artifact Which Has Been Fucking With His Mind For Months, so.

I do think he had One (1) fledgling romance in Dol Amroth that ended with the other squire dying and that was sort of the catalyst for “ah. If I love people they’ll Probably Die, so maybe I won’t do that” baggage that he didn’t really unpack until, I think, Théodred. add the additional layers of Denethor Being Denethor and Boromir having such great standards to live up to…. with all the love in my heart, that relationship only happened bc Théodred saw Boromir, went “I need to fuck that Gondorian so bad it makes me look stupid” and proceeded to work his way through 1700 layers of gondorian mental bullshit just so he could suck some dick (me too bestie)

hm. my first instinct is to say “not much” but ultimately I think he’d hide anything he can quantify as “weakness.” his own distress, any physical pain if he needs to be up and moving, etc. he’s only able to share that earnest moment with Aragorn in Caras Galadhon bc of Galadriel’s influence. he’s not used to being seen. so, if there is sth that would hold him back from fulfilling his duty as a soldier it is absolutely getting hidden/ignored.

hunt: Who or what is your OC hunted by? A person, a feeling, a past mistake? Is your OC able to let their guard down, or are they constantly alert?

hm. not necessarily Hunted, but I do think he is followed by Denethor’s expectations. it’s sth I’ve talked abt in another ask + that I go into in the costuming doc but such a key element of Denethor’s design is his son’s motifs but Richer, Grander. so… I do think Boromir is constantly alert of, like, how his father will perceive him, bc there is this very insidious sort of competition, this need for Denethor to show his sons up (whether a conscious need or not). and I do think that would weigh on Boromir quite heavily

mm again I think he only really wears a mask/performs for Denethor. anyone else would be too much effort for too little reward. at least if he plays Golden Son for his father, it keeps Faramir from being harassed as much

however, as for who gets to see him when he’s.. not just unmasked but actually RELAXED… Faramir, his uncle and cousins, Théodred, Aragorn, the others in the fellowship but particularly Merry and Pippin

does he have nightmares? oh definitely. what he does in the small hours of the night? depends. if he’s on campaign/traveling/otherwise away from Minas Tirith he will either lay there in his bedroll and Think (bad) or get up and write letters. depends entirely on where he’s stationed/who he’s with. if he Is at home in Minas Tirith, I expect he just goes for a walk + looks at the sky

hm. I think he’s generally at ease with himself, or at least content with Not Thinking About These Things. I think, had he directly survived the arrows, he would have to grapple with like. the idea that he did prove Aragorn’s fears about men correct (whether Aragorn would agree with him or not)

I think you asked about having cami cheat on Bakugo In restaurant au (idk why I am thinking about this Now ahah) but I think having cami cheat would be a easy cop out for them to break up. Instead i think it would be really interesting to see the flaws in their character (that don’t necessarily make them ethically bad people, just humans with human flaws) in both cami and bakugo and how instead of working on these issues together they sort of ending rotting together, and are too scared? Comfortable in the pain? Too reliant on each other? to leave. Idk I feel like you can do a lot by avoiding the cheating plot and making a singular cliche *bad guy* and expand on their traits and sense of self by exploring their very human doomed relationship deeper. It also makes cami a lot more three dimensional and not just bitchy mean girl and in turn makes reader grapple with the fact that she likes a taken person (which can be more material to work with)

I think I limited myself with how complex the characters are with how I've been writing it. if it was a longer story, I'd flesh cami out more. I don't think she's evil, I think she's mentally unwell and not coping very well with it. she can be generous and funny and light up a room-

the barista was friendly and always knew your favourite order. The seat you always wanted in the corner was often empty. And most of all it was quiet.

Something both Donna and you appreciated.

But today of all days there was a promotion going on for old brew that seemed to draw in people like crazy.

it was packed.

and worst of all there was this guy here. That seemed to be eying you up and down with a smirk, something in his eyes said he thought you were easy prey.

”donna please come back so we can leave” you whispered under your breath.

”talking to you self pretty lady?”

oh god he actually approached you.

”yeah i like talking to myself and the voices!” You tried to make him think you were mentally unwell so he would leave you alone.

The gullible man's face was turning more and more pale and when the final move was cast his hands were shaking.

When you arrived you didn't want to say it but youre were kinda right.

it was almost pitch black in the hide away and you couldn’t really see anything. Luckily; you could make out certain shapes enough to not fall or trip on anything. Not to mention you suddenly had no idea where Donna was.

”Donna?”

Just like that the lights that had never been here before turned on. The alcove was beautifully decorated to yours and donnas personal tastes almost as if there was going to be a celebration of shorts set up with fairy lights set up with an extra table with Champaign.
