Background info in general because this one is a little bit more nebulous than the Math Nerd AU but this is ANOTHER one of those time travel AUs that I've mentioned live rent free in my head.

In this one, Andrew regains his memories FIRST. It's while he's still in high school that he remembers his other life. He realizes that Neil is still ALIVE right now and he wants to find him. He also realizes that well...why not get filthy rich off of his memory? Like lotto numbers, the rise and fall of companies, and what remains of his share of Tilda's insurance money is all right there.

Besides, he has NO idea where Neil is right now. He knows where Neil will be in like half a year though. So he makes a shitload of money, gets Aaron into rehab, pays for Nicky to go visit Erik, and he contacts the Moriyamas to buy the right to Nathaniel Wesninski. It's heinously expensive but of course it is, it's Neil, he's worth every penny.

Then Andrew sets out to find whoever Neil Josten is right now.

It's not his Neil but it's Neil and Andrew will never love him the way he had loved his Neil but he loves Neil no matter what. He's made plans y'see? He wrote 'em down because even if his memory is perfect sometimes it's easier to plan when it's solid and in front of you.

Except when he finds this Neil, scared bleeding and trying to get away from Mary and Nathan, it's his Neil. They reunite and Andrew lets Neil know that the Moriyamas don't own him anymore, no one does.

Andrew brings Neil home to Columbia and Nicky and Aaron are confused by it when they get back but eventually are fine with the new housemate. It's all okay, good even, and then Neil sees the 'plans' and realizes that Andrew hasn't done any of them with him. The thought hits him that Andrew maybe...wanted the not quite so fucked up Neil Josten.

Neil runs because he really can't handle Andrew being disappointed that it's him. (This is the furthest thing from the truth but y'know what this is my quasi-angst fic so I get to make the misunderstandings).

Andrew is despondent but Andrew gets an offer from Wymack.

Neil will never give up Exy right? Neil's a fox. He'll come back home for Exy. Then Andrew can fix this.

Andrew is even surlier his freshman year because he wants Neil back, he's unmedicated, and he has to deal with these fifth year assholes again.

Then Kevin Day is there and it's slightly better to have something to focus on. There's a difference this time though and the USC offers Kevin a chance for some spring training for his hand. Andrew figures it's butterfly effect. Kevin goes for 2 weeks and comes back for a bit to rest his hand. Kevin is floating, he's elated, he just had the time of his LIFE.

He mentions that the USC has signed a striker for next season.

It's Neil.

Thus begins Andrew's courtship of one Neil Abram Josten of the USC Trojans.

Movie!Adrien is legit a normal human boy, not a sentimonster who is literally physically incapable of fighting back against whoever has his amok

He DOES fight back (even in S1 as CN!), but people like to remember the show only up to S3. Guess what, he learns to fight back and stand up for himself through his growing bonds and relationships with those around him through character development ✨✨✨

Also, he is an abused kid??? In the show?? How can you knock him down a peg for not fighting back,,, 😭 Adrien's lesson isn't that he needs to learn how to fight back, it's that Nathalie shoulda called cps sooner!!! In the movie they are much more of an estranged father-son pair than anything abusive. So obviously the back talk is much easier too. Movie!Adrien gets to go out alone and with friends unless his dad has specifically planted an enemy where he is. Show!Adrien has been beaten, mind controlled, forced to hurt Marinette, isolated and locked up, etc.- he has been TERRIFIED of his dad multiple times.

Man I am so sick of this complaint- the show has never rewarded Marinette for her obsessive behavior. BC IT IS A CHARACTER FLAW. One they use for cringe comedic purposes, but a flaw nonetheless. Every time she has done anything that hurts others in pursuit of Adrien she is punished by the writers. And bc the show has an episodic monster-of-the-week format, this plot is recycled a lot (which is its own complaint). And guess what? SHE STOPS BEING OBSESSIVE. YEAH. SHE STOPS DOING THAT SHIT- so what do you want now??? She grew out of it after it costs her the miraculous so why tf are yalls still hurling this at her like its a L,,,,

This Marinette is just a watered down boring version of show!Marinette. She's just a girl who gets insecure at times but grows confident bc she's Ladybug. Ok. So is our Marinette but MORE. Our Marinette is super smart, creative, resourceful, an overthinker, extremely kind and selfless to others, gets jealous and reckless when her emotions get the better of her, etc. She is fully formed even after watching just 3 episodes of S1.

Like the fact that they didn't even bother to include the oh so important hook of the show- her lucky charm power- shows they didn't care about doing this story justice- its so transparently lazy writing 💀 (miraculous of creation where??? CN gets cataclysm for destruction but what is movie!LB bringing to the yin yang table,,,)

Legitimately all the comparisons I'm hearing from people saying the movie is better are from those who just aren't caught up with the show where Marinette is no longer toxically obsessive with Adrien, where the plot/lore is insane but 10000000x better and more creative than what the movie gave us, the love square was much better developed EVEN FROM JUST THE ORIGINS EPISODES, etc. Istg these people stopped at S3 where the show was at its worst (if I were to pinpoint it)

Everything is so watered down or changed for the worse

Adrienette bonding was 1 conversation and 2 seconds about his mom in a voiceless montage. Marinette didn't fall for him bc of his kindness after a misunderstanding, it was bc he looked handsome in the library's light lol. He called her weird and didn't think twice about putting on his earphones to listen to more alpha podcasts. You really do wonder why she likes this dude over her partner CN bc they have no connection at all.

Any type of brotherly bonding, with any of the KP brothers ;_; I'm a middle child and I don't have a good relationship with either of my brothers, so that always gets to me. As for good feels, I love it when Kim is allowed to just be a kid, and for he and Chay to interact as friends, not just boyfriends. Everything about their relationship is so intense all the time, I love it when they get to goof off and play videogames and just enjoy each other's time. Kim is younger than me! He's a baby!

Yes they have. Unfortunately, outside of Out of the Shadows, I don't have any plot-heavy fics posted, and that one is still in the set-up stage, so there's no real plot to guess on. But back in my teen wolf days, I remember getting so excited whenever someone would predict the plot for Estranged. I legit kept track of users and would dedicate chapters to them when we got to the reveals that they guessed.

wouldn't you like to know 👀 Idk what to talk about that 1. you don't already know, and 2. that I haven't already gushed about on here. Bc! I! am a wordy bitch! In need of constant validation! Hmmm. I will say... I do have that AU based on the Dum Dum unchained BTS. I've hit somewhat of a block on it so idk when I'll get it finished and posted, but that one is heating up! Kim is nearly-feral and mostly nonverbal after being... kind of trafficked? For a while?? He was kidnapped to use as leverage against his father, however by that point has just left the family, and is no longer useful/wanted. Letting him go was never an option, especially since Korn refused to trade, that would show weakness. And it would be a waste just to kill him... so. Bad times are had. But it's alright, Chay has a thing for lost and wounded strays, he's all too happy to take care of Kim. Too bad Kim can't trust him enough to let him. I also have a PWP cropping up that just needs a few finishing touches. Nothing dramatic there, just a KimChay sex scene instead of their very adorable couch cuddles.

Depression. I have no idea, I've suddenly forgotten anything I've ever written. No but really, when it comes to long fics, I think I almost always write a nightmare/comfort scene. Monkey D. Luffy is aro-ace

It is currently June, which means it is pride month once again.

I have thought about it for a while as to what I could contribute to the spirits of the queer! So let's talk about our favourite ray of sunshine, better known as the MC of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy.

Now before we continue, I would like to point out that this comment is purely based on speculations, supported by what the anime/manga has shown us in the past as well as Oda's point of view in past interviews he took part in. I am absolutely not caught up with the series yet, but the first 445 episodes more often than not have left rather clear signs regarding Luffy's orientation. Now let us begin.

To understand why many people such as myself see Luffy as aromantic-asexual, let us first break down what it means to identify as such:

Asexuality refers to limited sexual attraction or a lack thereof towards another person.

Aromanticism refers to a limited romantic attraction or a lack thereof towards another person.

Bear in mind that every asexual and aromantic person is individual as both umbrella terms have a wide spectrum. This means that both orientations do not have to go hand in hand, nor does it mean that people who identify as either or both are broken, weird or incapable of human emotions.

Additionally, some asexual people may still have sex in a romantic relationship, others may not. The same works for aromantic people who still might go into a romantic relationship, while others might not. I recommend watching this video (And the following videos of the trilogy, which are pinned in the info box in their video), it will explain the spectrums a little more thoroughly.

Now that we have established what it means to be aromantic-asexual, let us move on to Luffy. The debate about whether or not he is straight or not has been going on for years by now, and nobody can really decide where to place him exactly. We have seen in many other anime how romance has become a plot point for the MC eventually, yet for Luffy, this will never happen.

Oda has said on numerous occasions that he does not plan to focus on a possible romantic interest for the Strawhat captain, but instead simply wants to keep the plot straightforward with action and a story that goes in-depth with the lore of the world we call One Piece.

Thanks to multiple scenes within the pre-timeskip, we have learned a lot about Luffy as a character. We got to know him as a cheerful and selfish-selfless character, who doesn't take shit from nobody and will fight everyone who hurt his nakama. While he is not very intelligent overall, he possesses a high emotional intelligence and has the ability to read people in a way most cannot.

He is also very hyperactive, loud and sometimes very impulsive when making decisions. It is safe to say that if he ever got diagnosed, he would have ADHD (I mean, just look at him. You cannot tell me that he would not be neurodivergent of any kind).

Luffy has had the dream to become the King of Pirates ever since he was a child. From when he starts his journey to find the One Piece, he has shown time and time again that he displays his priorities openly for everyone to see. He says what he thinks and is not afraid to do so. Fun activities for him are either fighting or just goofing around with his friends. Also food. He loves food, especially meat. This man has his priorities, alright.

But that's also why people often think that Luffy simply focuses on these priorities, and once he has found the One Piece, he will get married to Boa Hancock. Then again, we know that Luffy is not interested in Hancock romantically.

We see Hancock first hugging Luffy, then her fawning over him, while his expression stays indifferent to this action. And this is only one of the many examples.

As we all remember very well, Luffy showed no reaction when Hancock used her devil fruit abilities on him. Said abilities allow "a range of attacks which use emotions of love, lust or adoration to transform opponents into stone." (https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Mero_Mero_no_Mi)

Those abilities have been showcased when Hancock first refused to partake in the upcoming war against Whitebeard and turned all marine's on the Navy ship to stone. Oddly enough, when she used the "Love-Love Mellow" on Luffy, he came out of it completely unaffected. Not to mention that he saw Boa's naked body and had no reaction to it either.

The Strawhat's behaviour had confused many viewers, when he showed a reaction to Nami's body being exposed twice, and this is what Oda said about it in a Q&A:

"He's interested, but he's not entranced by her."

People can be interested in other people without the sexual or romantic attraction coming in. Hell, people usually find people interesting due to their personalities and want to get to know each other out of platonic interest! Or it's the style they wear, which would fall under the 'aesthetic attraction' department.

In other words: Just because you are interested in someone, doesn't automatically mean you want to fuck or date them.

"But when he's with Usopp, who's the same age, it's like a kid on a school trip: His bad side comes out! Yeah, both sides of Luffy feel right to me, so the culprit is definitely Usopp!"

Usopp and Luffy are almost always together in several shenanigans. Usopp usually serves as comical relief and likes to form the comedic trio together with the captain and the ship's doctor Chopper. Hence the description of Luffy as a 'kid on a school trip'. He copies the sniper's behaviour in both instances where Nami's body is exposed to them, that's it. There is nothing more to it.

I would like to add one more thing: Love comes in all shapes and sizes. I've been picking up comments on various platforms that Luffy is 'too naive' when it comes to love. That may be true to an extent, but that doesn't mean he is incapable of it. Romantic and sexual attraction are off the table, but he does know the concept of love. Just in a platonic way. He loves his crew and he loves his brothers, even though they are not blood-related.

This is where the concept of 'found family' comes into play, and it is true for both Luffy's brothers and the crew. To the Strawhat, they are all family. And that is perfectly alright. Getting married and placing kids in this world does not have to be the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal can be anything, as long as it makes the individual happy.

In conclusion, Luffy can be considered as aro-ace, but we will never know for sure whether or not this will be canon. Oda had never confirmed or denied his orientation, which leaves it up for interpretation. For some people, Luffy will be considered straight, for others not. And that's okay. As long as we can discuss this civilly, no harm will come out of it.

How did you find/decide to watch lmk? And at what point did it hook you enough to say; time for this funny little lego show to consume my life I guess?

Purely on the surface it seems like it’s a show you wouldn’t be interested in. Since you really love looking for parallels/themes/foils etc. 

(And lmk being- well, a glorified lego toy commercial doesn‘t really scream 'intricate storytelling and character arcs'. Eventhough it‘s packed with exactly that.)

I stumbled across a review of it roughly a year ago, but moved on because it didn‘t seem like my kind of thing. What intrigued me enough to watch it was actually the 'warrior of the mind' animatic.

So I checked it out and was completely blindsided by literally everything about it! I loved all the characters from episode one. And the animation is obviously top-tier. And then season two with the plot??

The last show I loved this much was Danny Phantom. And that is with hella strong nostalgia goggles and me mostly loving the concept more than anything.

I was also pleasantly surprised when I didn‘t cringe even once while watching it. That was largely due Mei and MK being the most besties ever. Their friendship made their shenanigans and embarrassing moments feel more like goofing off than anything else.

You made me realize just how much I adore these two goobers in particular. At first I just kinda followed the fandom focused on the monkey trio. But in hindsight Mei and MK are actually what made me fall in love with the show.

I‘m physically incapable of asking/talking about this show without gushing.  Sorry bout that! 🙈

Like I saw the 1x09 SWK V Macaque fight one time on my dash, and it was from a blog I liked, and the animation was cool, so I decided to give the show a chance.

But, honestly, I think catching up on LMK around the same time that my interest in TDP made a come back a year ago (which is just a very thematic show in general), contributed a lot to how I got here. Reading long theories/metas is how I've always interacted with fandom, and I wasn't finding any of the stuff I was seeing in the show, so then I decided to write my own! Cause why not!

Like, there's a lot of stuff to talk about here and I can only think about MK staring sadly at his reflection and hands so many times before I have to do something about it.

But 2x05, 3x10, the entire "to pain" scene, and all of s4 is what made the little lego show consume me. Like. Man. Have you seen this shit? What is up with that. Why are the legos crying.

My grandfather!! Courtney was his middle name. (That spelling was originally the masculine form of the name, though it's pretty rare to see it used as such these days.) My middle name is also a family name :)

Uhh... oh it was a couple nights ago, when talking with my parents about my Nana. I still miss her a lot

3. Do you have kids?

Nope. At this stage of my life I can't say it feels super likely ever to happen, though I'd be lying if I said I don't feel a twinge of Something when I meet babies at work lol.

4. What sports do you play/have you played?

lmao I have never played any. I am extremely unathletic by nature, and also always struggled to get my brain around the rules of pretty much any of them when I was like, a kid in gym class

5. Do you use sarcasm?

Sure, but not a lot? Probably an average amount I figure

6. What is the first thing you notice about people?

Man, I dunno - probably their faces or their clothes, depending on context?

Big big fan of both! I'm not a big sad endings guy, though. Even when it feels right for the story, it's usually not my jam. (I guess sometimes sad endings can be good for scary movies, but that's like... sort of its own thing? because it's about The Horror.)

This is always a hard question for me to answer, bc I feel like most of the things I'm good at are more skills than talents - they're things I've practiced and developed over time, like with my writing and art. Although I guess it'd be fair, if unusual maybe, to say I've got a couple naturally strong interpersonal skills. I'm very good at communication, including figuring out what other people are trying to say, and I'm also pretty good at making people feel comfortable and understood.

In southern Ontario, in the city where both of my parents did most of their growing up :)

Writing (fiction prose, mostly) and the many kinds of thinking that go with it (worldbuilding, character development, etc). Arts and crafts (of many kinds; I'm often bouncing from one thing to another. Currently I'm having lots of fun learning to crochet). Taking in stories (reading books and comics, watching movies and TV, playing games, listening to podcasts - I love stories in all their forms). Goofing off with my family, especially my younger siblings.

Iiii. [sweats] I wanna be a novelist, but also, that's hard in its own way, and I think it's gonna take me a while yet to really Get There in terms of my own skills, disregarding the challenges of publishing. Beyond that... is something I've been struggling a lot with lately, because it's hard for me to imagine myself in a job where I'm both content and competent, let alone able to support myself. the family dynamic was really tight-knit and was very reliant on humor to make it through difficult times, something that would have a lifelong effect on yunseong.

while their parents worked, yunseong and his older sister (wc!!) would kill time for hours on the beach. he loved being there, smelling the sea salt in the air, hearing the battling chirps of seagulls and the crashing of waves.

this was where he took his first surfing lesson. he saw them being given on the beach and begged his mother for the 26,000 won it cost to enter the class. he fell in love on the first wave, even though he fell into it within milliseconds. by the end of that day, he had enough muscle memory in his calves to withstand a good five or so seconds on the board.

the lessons became semi-regular and a few months later, he could surf bigger waves and his balance had been trained along quite nicely. he could officially consider it a hobby, and didn’t really need the input of an instructor anymore.

he used his newfound balance to also learn skateboarding, something that translated into a very specific friend group in school.

yunseong was fairly athletic, playing a few different sports in school, but never having any real aspirations to go pro at anything. still, the world of sports fascinated him, and he could definitely see himself doing something behind the scenes.

after graduating from high school, he admittedly slacked off quite a bit. all he really wanted to do that summer was hang out on the beach he grew up on and surf as much as he could. he didn’t really wanna accept that his childhood was over, and it was time to start taking responsibility for himself.

after a year of goofing off, his father scolded him about not taking his future seriously and pushed him to start thinking about what he wanted to do with his life.

he wound up getting accepted to meikyung university in daegu, and is currently pursuing his degree in sports marketing.

after moving to daegu, he got a job at xpixel in the mall to pay his bills and rent (he was insistent on moving out of the dorm and living off campus bc he just couldn’t take it anymore) and is about a year out from graduating.

he’s once again become unsure about his future, because he enjoys working at sunset galleria so much. he kinda just wants to stay at the hotel pool or hang out at the arcade with his friends for the rest of time.

some beachy surfer vibes; mostly he’s just an extremely calm, laidback individual. he’ll really only fight or argue if it means keeping the peace in the end, if that makes sense.

complete mama’s boy. his mom is his favorite person on the whole earth, whereas he wasn’t as close to his more stern father.

still uses humor to lighten the mood or deflect his true feelings. can be a little self-effacing sometimes in a humoristic way. doesn’t like to make other people the butt of his jokes unless he knows them and they have that type of comfort level.

has a hard time taking anything seriously, and it can be to an annoying degree. it may sometimes feel irreverent, but just when you think he’s incapable of being genuine, he tells you something very real and you’re taken aback by it.

this communicates into how he loves quite a bit. you may sometimes feel like he doesn’t say the right words enough, but he always comes through in the end. he is also pretty big on romantic gestures, rather than using words to convey his feelings. catch him making u a mixtape of songs that remind him of you and planning you a poolside picnic 🧡

I am literally incapable of thinking of anything right now, other than this post I'm writing. Which means I can't focus on my work I'm supposed to be doing for my job, because none of the words I look at are wording the way they should in my brain. I've literally had to stare at a paragraph for 10 minutes before the message finally sank in. I wish I could just go home right now, but what am I supposed to tell my boss? 'Hi, I can't really explain to you what's wrong with me, other than the fact that I physically cannot do any of the work I'm supposed to do. So can I just have the rest of the day off so I can goof off with my siblings and go trick or treating early?' 9-5 job sucks.

I am so absolutely tired of people operating in such a "Us vs Them" mentality. This is entirely about my workplace before anyone attempts to find deeper meaning in this, but I do think it can be a common mindset.

Like, it's so often "employees vs management" and "coworker A vs coworker B" and "department A vs department B" and WHO CARES. LITERALLY WHO THE FUCK CARES!!! This is across departments, within departments, even across different locations within the company as a whole! I mean, I work in an area that has staff from two departments working together towards a common goal, and whenever any kind of issues arise, the two managers can't seem to problem solve because they're too busy blaming each other. In my own department, critical mistakes are not being fixed because my manager is too afraid that we'll lose more staff because my coworkers seem to think any remark about a mistake they might've made is life-shattering. People can't stop complaining and whining and moaning about the disdain they have for another location in our company because they "think they're better than us" (which is not the case, they just see triple the volume we do and have a better understanding of regulation). One coworker is ACTIVELY trying to get another fired because they don't like each other, and no fuel needs added to that fire because unfortunately it may happen even without additional intervention.

I just so desperately want people to treat each other with a little bit of fucking grace every now and then because I'm tired of being surrounded by miserable fucking people. I feel like I'm in high school again with how quickly tiny issues escalate and how incapable people seem to be when it comes to putting personal dislike for a person aside in order to treat them with professionalism and respect.

Prolly gonna delete this later but holy shit guys. Just please remember to always have empathy for those around you -- we're all people with flaws and mistakes and goofs, and that's okay. We take it in stride and move forward because very few things are unfixable.

For me personally, if I don’t *know* the ship name for a pairing in a situation like that, instead of saying “I didn’t know the ship name so I didn’t tag it with the ship name,” I would do the extra work to find out the ship name. But I am a person who takes such things very seriously, and perhaps it is not that serious for OP, so I won’t hold it against them.

Yeah, here's the tea my writer friends: Generally the higher the alcohol content of a liquor the less likely it is to taste even remotely sweet. Unless you add something sweet back into it. I am personally of the opinion that for the most part, the more distilled and potent the drink, the more horrendous it tastes. Remember that alcohol is a literal poison and your body, including your taste buds, knows it. I am a rather large man which means I have can drink more before getting really drunk. And when I first got drunk, I first drank three 0,5l glasses of something that was roughly 50/50 white wine and sparkling water. I was a bit more than tipsy. After I drank my fifth such glass that evening I could barely walk and as soon as my dad left me alone I began slipping into the flipped turtle position and was all but entirely incapable of getting up (tho weirdly I was still capable of texting and correcting my auto correct when it goofed). Now white wine has about 11,5-14% alcohol, which means what I was drinking had about 7% alcohol at most, while your average whiskey has 40-50%. What I drank was equivalent to less than one glass of the same size filled with Whiskey. If you drink more than 2 such glasses of Whiskey, chances are you'll either die from alcohol poisoning or wish you did.

Since alcohol gets more diluted depending on your body mass, my fat ass has a naturaly higher base alcohol tolerance than your average twink of a protagonist and I got THAT fucked up by drinking the equivalent of 1 big glass of whiskey over the course of an entire evening.

Your little baby man will absolutely fucking die if he's chugging hard liquor like it's his favorite soda.

ok first of all i felt CRAZY watching the clip of him leaving the new york radio show mid-interview bc moas were SCRUBBING that vid off the internet when it first happened. truly threatening ppl who were posting it. and now we have hybe including it in full HD 4k quality for all to see lskdfslfskfsl just funny that we have no idea what the company wants at any moment. and that they will exploit moments of weakness cause they know it'll get the ppl talking.

i didn't like that beomgyu's whole bit in the doc was 'im-sick-and-not-feeling-well' it sucked that this was the part of his "personality" we got to see cause beomgyu is so complex and goofy, i really wished we could've seen him in a more lighthearted light!!!!

but don't get me wrong, i am but a human being who loves drama, and yeah i was invested in his whole leaving-mid-concert, getting-out-of-the-car-to-walk and the general 'oh no is beomgyu gonna make it??' question that was floating around his parts.

did not like AT ALL that there was no conclusion?? like lmao suddenly we cut to him goofing around with them, and obv we don't need to know exactly what happened but the bullshit "moa helped me <3" is so eyeroll. but i do believe adrenaline can help a person, but i would've preferred a more serious conclusion of 'hey guys i am healthy and okay now :)"

also just in terms of dynamics.... obv we were seeing this in real time when the tour was happening but it is so crazy that for hanging out with each other during this tour, it was so very much BeomgyuSoobin and TaehyunYeonjun. (kai was floating vaguely between anyone), but those two duos in particular really shone through and it was interesting to see beomgyu go to soobin hyung and taehyun go to yeonjun hyung. does that make sense, idk.

the part where beomgyu leaves the van was wild, my friend and i were yelling at the tv "why aren't any of the other members helping him??? reassuring him??? giving him a hug???" and then beomgyu goes on his whole "i don't like when ppl make a big deal over me" spiel and we were like oh. ok. nvm. thought they were just MEN, incapable of sympathising with each other.

AND the way soobin was like 'i just acted like everything was normal, didn't do anything special to beomgyu' meanwhile beomgyu's over here like 'soobin hyung helped me out so much, i leaned on him, he took such good care of me, he made sure for the rest of the tour i was good' like...soobin...babe....you can admit you tried and made an effort to help someone you care about. it's okay.

anyways in conclusion i love mr beomgyu and his light brown (?) hair with the dark brows was such a good look i love his hair like that, and i love when he's laughing so hard and making jokes, and getting his bangs stuck in soobin's sunglasses.

This was an interesting one.

First of all, it takes place in my home state of New Hampshire. I am incapable of being Normal when I encounter media that takes place here. Do you know just how hard it is to find media that takes place in New Hampshire that was not created by Stephen King (or his kids)?

The setting is quite lovely. I thought they came up with a surprisingly large area to explore around the house, which was interesting. There are ruins, waterfalls, mines- and we see them in both 1979 and 1864, which provides some slight differences. The main house, in 1979, has some absolutely delightful 70s-style decor.

The story was fascinating, if not a bit confusing; you split between 1864 and Nicolas’s search for answers about his family, and 1979 and Adam’s paranoia about the Soviets (he’s a CIA agent, so it makes some contextual sense). You really get to wondering how these two are ever going to connect to one another- but then eventually it starts to tie together and works.

Without spoiling, I will also say this: The game does an excellent job of making you question if/how much the supernatural factors into what happens in this game. There’s enough that happens to make you question if the endings to this game are as straightforward as they seem to be.

The horror? It’s the good shit: There’s good, intimidating atmosphere, jumpscares (but not too many) and a few stalker levels as well. The soundtrack goes a long way to freaking you out too.

There are difficulty levels to the game as well, to make it harder if you choose for it to be.

There were a couple of negatives, however:

There were some glitches right off the bat: Trees that didn’t render right, hitches in the audio, and then the instructions for picking up/throwing/examining objects got stuck on the screen. Relatively minor, but no less noticeable, rendering issues.

But the truly obnoxious ones were the trophy glitches: I collected 50 matches, and yet no trophy; I found all documents as Nicolas, and yet no trophy; I also definitely collected all three newspaper clippings, and yet no trophy.

That’s much more irritating than triangle trees and audio goofs. It took me a second playthrough (and 183 matches in my inventory) to finally get the three trophies I know should have nailed on the first run.

Additionally, on my third playthrough, there’s a challenge where you have to steal a set of keys; I stole them, and then they glitched and wouldn’t open the door. I reloaded the checkpoint a few times, allowed myself to be killed by an enemy, but nope- keys didn’t work, so I had to restart the chapter- and I was about 98% done with it at that point, which was infuriating.

I’m honestly surprised at just how many glitches I encountered, as the game’s been out for four years now. I’m surprised in particular that they haven’t fixed the trophy glitches- apparently they’re pretty well-known and have been for a while, since the game was in development on PC.

The puzzles were... Ridiculously drawn out in some cases, and obnoxiously obscure in others. The decryption puzzle Adam does for work in chapter 3 might be the most glaring example of this: They make you go through a pointless “calibration” setting, and then expect you to do it for real- and I had zero fucking idea what I was meant to be doing.

As Adam’s job involves decoding enemy messages, there are a handful of decoding puzzles in this game that just... Absolutely suck. I hated them.

Thankfully, they weren’t the only puzzles, and there were plenty that did not focus on decryption.

Overall I thought it was a great horror game, if not glitchy.

can you please tell me how to cope with work stress? i messed up a few days ago at work and now i am on edge thinking that i will mess up with everything i am doing and my anxiety, which was in a good condition a week ago, is so bad. i already have a low self-esteem, but now i feel more stupid than i've ever felt and feel like -even though they are really nice people- my coworkers are looking at me like i am someone incapable of doing even the simplest things.

Not sure if this will help, but as someone who is also anxious and worried when I make mistakes at work, I try to remember that for one, nobody is perfect. sometimes my veteran coworkers or even my boss will drop the ball on things and I’m like oh so you make mistakes cool nice to know it’s not just me

second, mistakes are bound to happen. I know it sucks, I know it makes us feel anxious. If you’re anything like me, I’m guessing you’re your own worst critic? I know that’s how I am 😮‍💨 but when I make a mistake I try to remain calm, fix it to the best of my ability, if I can’t fix it myself then I ask for help. I remember what I did wrong so the next time I can do it right and most importantly I own that I made a mistake. Like yeah I goofed, but that doesn’t mean I’m not fit for the job or that I’m stupid. I’m just human. We all make mistakes, and I know our brains can have the tendency to make us feel like we HAVE to be perfect all the time

I know this probably doesn’t help a ton, but it’s how I’ve been trying to cope lately because I’ve definitely been making some mistakes at work and it’s been rough lol but trust me it’s not that you aren’t capable, I’m positive that you are. I’m sending you hugs non 🤍
