All that being said, i’m not saying i think anyone is or isn’t hiding their sexuality, but only bcs i never seriously cared about anyone’s sexuality to begin with - except if they wanna fuck ME lol. i am quite literally just not a fan of this season 😭😭 it felt almost completely different from the first two seasons. i didn’t like how the group didn’t seem to get many scenes together, it was always like jj and kiara scene, cleo and pope scene, and then john b and sarah scene. the groups were so separated to me and i despised it!!! the group dynamic?? just felt all weird idk maybe that’s just me! it just felt like strangers things s4 and the way they had the california group, hawkins group, and russia group.

i am Happy I Guess for jiara shippers but i couldn’t stand whatever angst thing they had going on throughout the season. Again, that could just be me cus i ain’t a jiara stan to begin with.

i didn’t quite care for the carlos singh. for lack of a better word, i thought he was unnecessary. he was kinda just there for me idk

I personally do not have any theories nor do I subscribe myself to any, I don't like entering books like this with any expectations as to what's going to happen and my reasons have a lot to do with some of the things you mentioned. I was super hopeful and excited for acosf and was so ready to be a nesta stan (ok that's a lie but I was prepared to like her) but I was just so thoroughly let down. And you're completely right! It is almost like she doesn't see any of the issues or weirdness with acosf, like she really thinks she ate with that book.

But see Nesta being in the bonus chapter to me says the opposite, I'm choosing to stay hopeful that we get some good Feyre content in cc3 and that the reason Nesta is getting placed in a bonus chapter is because her actual page time in that book was lacking and this is a special treat for all the people who wanted some Nesta x Bryce content but don't wind up getting much in the actual book. Though I will admit I am a smidge delulu but idc.

Elena - I waffle between how much I like her and am annoyed by her, LOL, but given how much she herself waffles, that seems fair 😆 She's definitely at her best when she's providing a moral baseline (like "we can't kill all vampires just bc they're vampires, even if they do eat us humans"). It's interesting that her flaw is being indecisive bc (in her mind/words) making a decision means cutting off an avenue forever!! Which is most obvious in the whole Stefan-or-Damon dilemma... Yet she's also much too eager to sacrifice her own life... In many ways she's still the girl who preferred spending time among the dead at the cemetery instead of w her friends, back in S1E1 ;_; It's also really cool that she has a built-in foil who literally looks exactly like her – Elena being afraid to choose a brother bc choosing one means losing the other and Katherine refusing to choose a brother bc having the two wrapped around her finger means having power over them... Very interesting stuff...

Stefan - Bro I love Stefan 😭😭😭 S3 Stefan had me like 😃 though... I was not a fan of all the ~Rippah Era~ stuff, not bc it was character assassination but tbh it was just cringe LMAO and it was very obvious that he'd eventually regain control and come to his senses so the stakes didn't feel all that high lol 😆 He's so romantic and empathetic :') and I will admit that it was interesting to see that his grip on his control (for all his talk!!) was rly not that strong ;_; Seeing his ideals/hopes crumble against his reality was quite sad...

Damon - S1 Damon feels very different from S3 Damon LMAO which I think is partly character growth (watching Damon accept his propensity for care... chefs kiss 😩💗) and partly the writers leaning into Dalena and walking back some of Damon's darker tendencies LOL... Which I don't mind, I am very much NOT a fan of his eagerness to hypnotize/mind control women 😐👎 (tho i do acknowledge that that's classic vampire behavior lol) Anyway his instances of vulnerability do make me go 😱😱😭😭❤️❤️ so I am not immune to his charms LOL

Caroline - I LOVE CAROLINE!!! I'VE LOVED HER SINCE S1 IDC THAT SHE WAS "BITCHY"!!! (she was really just a normal teenage girl...) She has a lot of self-awareness and selflessness, and a lightness that some of the other characters have lost just bc they've all gone thru so much ;_; I love her relationship w Tyler in S2, when they were both new to the whole supernatural thing... Also she's such a badass!!! Love her combat scenes, even if she gets kidnapped more often than not haha

Bonnie - BONNIE 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 most OP character on the show - her powers are limited only by what the writers can think of / what the narrative requires 😳 (aka Atom Eve vibes) She is such a badass, and I love how even tho she's tired and sometimes frightened of her potential, she always steps up to help her friends ;_; Also - maybe controversial, but I love that she went behind everyone's backs to preserve Klaus, just to see if she could 😳 Watching her embrace her magic/powers and start pushing limits is really cool!!! as the host of the event, it's my duty to keep the event a safe place for everyone to celebrate the pair. in order to do that, it is also my duty to monitor every participant and consumers. i have to assess every post whether they are following the guidelines. i personally approach the user if their content does not. as i explain it to them, i know my limitations as the host. i would apologize and inform them why we cannot rb/rt if:

(1) their post is nsfw and not properly labeled or censored. participants should be aware that there are minors amongst the audience. we advise them to relabel contents or repost using censoring features on the specific platform;

(2) it falls under prohibited themes or contains character or ship bashing. such themes or scenes might lead for them to be attack and cause problems to the creator, the audience, and the event. but i give them the freedom to choose to keep their work. i know they dedicated time and effort making it. it's not my right to ask them to remove it.

if there is an misunderstanding between fellow stans during the event, i go forth and act as the mediator to settle their issue.

on wendy's case, i did NOT block her bc she has different opinions relating to characters. i am neutral to everyone's opinion. everything abt the event and the server was accessible to her for the past 2 events i hosted for naruhina despite our opposite ideal.

again i do not block ppl without a reason;

(1) i have an archived list of all the participants and their submissions of 2021 & 2022. even the ones who participated in event activities. i know that fact she has never taken part in the event. she has never submitted any entries or joined any activities. but she has the audacity to attack the event;

(2) she spread false accusations abt the host, mistaking them as the one who harassed a fellow stan; which she thought was me. but it's been publicly known that it's quirrrky and i were hosting the event ever since. she on the other hand, has never reached out to me or quirrrky to apologize abt the said incident;

(3) she antagonized creators and fellow fans. creates all sorts of issues just to stir up drama in the community. there are ppl coming forward which she has harassed bc they have different opinions, ships & characters they support;

(4) she criticized my passion for naruhina. expressing i do not have the right host and organize the event bc apparently i do not love hinata enough bc i like sakura too smh

what she did was horrible and unjust. we do not tolerate such behavior. so i have every reason as the host of the event.

she is just blocked on the event acct. tbh she doesn't need to even see the event acct bc she still has freedom to access and enjoy the participants' submission posted under the event tag and enjoy it on her own. except for the fact she blocks fellow nh stans who doesn't agree to her ideologies.

she should take accountability of her actions and apologize to the ppl she's hurt. no one deserves their integrity to be tarnished bc of someone else's lies. no one deserves to be boxed of what should they like or dislike. no one deserves to be limited of what they can and can't do.

i'm very open abt creating a safe space for anyone to enjoy naruhina. we have naruhinamain dedicated to celebrate the love of naruto and hinata. to extend, we have a discord server we fans are allowed to discuss and share their common interests.

this is my third year hosting naruhina month. just to anyone's knowledge, naruhina month is not hosted in december bc of it's connection w the release of movie, the last.

someone reached out to quirrrky late september of 2021 concerning if there would be naruhina this year. she took accountability on hosting on tumblr and i reached out to her extending it to twitter. we were pressed for time and in need atleast few months to be considerate of participants that is why it was pushed back til december.

the following year, we have plans to host different events for naruhina. it was nearing late october and yet no one has plans to host the event yet again. someone came forward to us asking if we will be hosting again, and quirrrky and i decided to push our plans ahead, hence, the first ever naruhina fair in 2022.

this year, we both have ideas for activities to encourage nh stans to express their love and creativity, as well as having fun making it. unfortunately, both quirrrky and i were really busy and focused on our time on our personal lives. we put the plans on hold and i complete understand what she's going through.

i opened the discussion in the naruhina discord if anyone would like to host this year. there are ppl who took interest but expressed that they couldn't commit to it. i was abt to close the discussion until ate born and chloe came forward to help me organize this year's event.

now someone on tumblr going as anon spreading rumors abt me being a fake nh fan. didn't know u have to box urself to stan only one ship/character to be a real stan. i have other interests too.

as a matter of fact, before i became actively participating in fandom. i met alot of hinata and sakura stans who were very nice to me and encouraged me to draw. i love being around ppl who are open-minded and supporting both women.

ever since 2022, i limited my interaction w the fandom bc i was getting stressed how it's getting always heated w fanwars. i signed up to express my love and creativity for naruhina and have fun.

and just for anyone's knowledge, i do have a personal private acct but i have muted and blocked naruto and boruto from there so i can have peace of mind separate accts for fandom and real life current events. i rarely talked abt anime in there. it's mostly taylor swift and my shitty day to day life. u can ask few of my friends who are following me there.

The Black Suits song ranking

Happy (late) Black Suits Day (eighteenth of September) y'all! Not that anyone asked but I have decided on my personal Black Suits song ranking. As always, I am very correct with my Joe Iconis music takes and will accept no criticism. Also I'm talking about 2013 here. Love yourself (and the work) and listen to 2013 instead of 2012 for better audio quality and a tighter book.

Spirit Song - I don't think anyone is surprised this is my top ranked song lol. "A melody only exists when someone hears, and the number one thing that I've learned through all my years. The fans and the family make the music strong, and the cheering is just as important as the song!" As Will describes it, it's a love letter to audiences (hey, that's me!) and when I listen to this song I'm always reminded of how much Joe believes in the message of this song, that the audience is part of the show.

Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang - [Joe Iconis voice] the language of the show. A lot of this list was influenced by not only how much I liked the song but by how well the songs functioned as extensions/expansions of the scene and the believability of that character singing the song. To me Bangx5 is one of the ultimate examples of this. The lyrics "there's a heavy metal hole where a soul used to be" like that's SO teenage angst and overdramatic just like Chris is supposed to be in this moment. I remember when I first heard the song I was like "is that it? Simple repeated [I am ___] lyrics for your act 1 finale? Seems a bit underwhelming even if it musically goes hard" but then after like another listen through of the show or so I realized that was the intention. When you're seventeen or so and you feel like your world is crashing down around you, sometimes the only way you can articulate it is "I am white boy rage, I am in a cage, I am bang bang bang bang bang bang bang." You are bang, you are loud crashing noises, your emotions are too loud and intense to be described with your limited vocabulary but you try anyways and fail. I love the contrast of the lyrics "I am chew my pens" and "I am hurt my friends" right next to each other. And the harmony at the end? Chefs fucking kiss.

Amphibian - This song is so goddamn fun. Like honestly. That’s it. Nato is chilling by himself and makes up a song about himself and his frog and it’s the best goddamn time in the show. You really get the feeling like these characters are actually friends. I love the “idiot” Nato vs “smart” Brandon. The “who cares about Beethoven. It’s a movie about a dog” joke never fails to make me laugh. When Brandon is expecting a regular bridge to the song and Nato whips out the falsetto and he goes “oh my God” like. Peak comedy here. And also Will Roland doing That? I’m in awe. Like this is what The Black Suits (the band) is, friends hanging out and having fun with music, that makes the next scene when the band formally break up so sad.

It's All Good - “So we’re cool and whatever?” It’s such a teenage boy thing to say. Like you want to acknowledge that you guys have been through something but at the same time you want to undercut it so you don’t run the risk of seeming too openly emotional. I’m also only very slightly bitter about that review that was like “oh wait so the only stakes of this show is the battle of the bands?” Like hello? Did you not see the show or listen to a single second of the finale? It’s about the way these characters communicate in their kinda inadequate ways and how they use music to express themselves. In a way it’s classic, cliche musical theater 101, with the characters unable to say what they feel with plain English so they resort to music, but of course with a Joe Iconis twist. The stakes aren’t the fucking battle of the band, it’s the friendship between the boys. It’s literally so obvious I want to scream. Anyways this song is fantastic way to end the show.

Car Ride To Long Beach - That's right. Car Ride To Long Beach is 5th place. I'm only very slightly bitter about the review that was like "is fried chicken REALLY the deciding factor in going on a drug run?" And by slightly bitter I mean this person goes on the list of people I want to beat up for being so fucking wrong about a Joe show. No, you fucking fool, that's not actually the deciding factor. She's at least on the fence, if not already secretly decided yes, about it from the moment he asks. It's about the company, it's about the road trip, it's about breaking the rules after having been "good" for so long. I am so adamant that this song is about desire and thrill and guilt and wanting to be seen for who you are and not just John saying obscene things. Like take the dialogue exchange right before she finally vocally says yes. "What do I look like right now?" "Uh. You look like... Lisa?" "... Alright let's go." Like tell me that does not drive you fucking crazy after Lisa's constant questions about others perception of her and trying to figure out who she is herself. Car Ride To Long Beach is good you guys are just mean.

Social Worker - Another example of an incredibly fitting character song. The refusal and reluctance of a teenage boy to admit that he actually needs or gets mental health help. I love the music-ification of a panic attack as loud drums and electric guitar. "I don't really go to the social worker," he says, as he goes to the social worker. It’s truly hilariously, heartbreakingly fitting for his character.

The Answer - When that Things To Ruin reviewer said Joe is a master of putting commonly shared moments to music no one else has done before, they were right. Who HASN’T taken a test and failed it so utterly they started questioning their entire life and worried for their future before? I love the repeated lyric questions like John is sitting there reading the question over and over trying to figure out what the answer is. I love the synthy keyboard. Fantastic choice @ Charlie Rosen.

Band-Aids and Cigarettes - Oh this song is so good I feel guilty about putting it at 8. It’s like honestly heartbreaking, not being able to give what the other person needs and being aware of it. And the unconventionality of it being sung by the mentor character instead of a love interest or something.

The Feeling (Part 1 and 2) - Yeah I’m combining them into one song and also assuming the entire beach/Chris & Mrs. Werring conversation is part of the song, too, with the interlude of the “I just want something good to happens.” This song is a jam, plain and simple. I love the absolutely terrible advice that Mrs. Werring gives Chris. “You got to push all your worries inside of yourself, and then they’ll mix creating a combustible boom.” Awful! But Annie Golden sings it so well. And it makes Band-Aids and Cigarettes later that much more sad. In part 2, I love how interconnected the two conversations are. “Just breathe them in -> I love the beach.” The synchronous “I don’t even remember why I liked him/her in the first place.” The score here having the Spirit Song melody. Also now feels like a good time to bring up my Lisa Bred is nonbinary headcanon (though it’s practically textual canon) with “I’m not a girl, I’m a song.” Like that right there, she literally states she’s not a girl, and that’s just the most obvious part. Twice before now, she’s asked people about how they perceive her (“what do I look like right now?” “my girlfriend?” / “Lisa”) and her arc in this show up to this point is discovering more about herself and trying new things. She’s aware of societal gender norms (“isn’t that what boyfriend girlfriends are supposed to do?”) and how she doesn’t really fit in with them. She’s experimenting with expressing herself (dyeing her hair blue, photography). Like it’s all right there. I don’t know if Joe was intentionally writing a nonbinary character figuring herself out but that’s what I get when I read the text straight. In Lisa’s mind, John is one of the gateways to trying new things (“you give me this feeling”) and then that blends right into the rest of The Feeling and it’s so fucking GOOD. I love this song.

Blue Hair - The OG Joe Iconis viral song! I love the music song of this song so much, specifically the guitar/piano riff. I love the multiple sources of motivation of doing it, from actually wanting to try something different, to getting a reaction from Chris and John, even if she denies that last part. And then again at the end of the song with her self-awareness. She’s doing something to stand out/express herself! I love it.

Nato's Song - A six minute clusterfuck of a song and it’s beautiful. Sticking to the actual Nato stuff right now, I think it’s a pretty clever way of passing time and seeing how it’s affecting him and everyone else in the show. With the interspersed content of other characters, it really is the musical equivalent of a film montage. I love seeing Chris’ further breakdown in the form of voicemails to his dad. The music of Blue Hair, Old Records, and Rather Be coming back is fucking great. Everyone is just struggling in this song and it’s great.

Rock 'N Roll Band (Reprise) - I love this re-introduction song so much and the differences between it and the original. I love the chaoticness of the solos all going at the same time. I love the cut Geek Rock Garage King still making in into the show as Brandon’s bridge and how out of place it is with the rest of the song musically but yet it’s still in it. I love the a capella break with Mrs. Werring cheering them on.

Old Records - The fact that John plays the guitar as Chris sings it for someone to hear is so good. When he gets affirmation that John likes the song, he continues. And it’s only after being called out about his writing revealing things about him that Chris feels bad about the song again and claims that they were just dummy lyrics. Once John leaves the backing music comes back on like glockenspiel or something and I love the lightness of it combined with the electric guitar that comes in after.

Black Suit On - I know we’re at like 3/4ths through but I honestly love this song. I love all the songs so much. This ranking honestly barely matters because I love all the songs in this show. I love the (unrealistic) idea of finally being able to be your best self, of all your problems going away, if only something symbolic but ultimately inconsequential thing were to happen. It’s about the (shared) vision for a different future than the one you’re currently living! (By the way I am so haunted by Jen Tepper saying this song was actually about LIHN. Like does anyone know what that means? Do I fundamentally misunderstand this song or LIHN? I don’t get the connection.)

Lisa - Once again, the relatability. Who hasn’t felt like they were good enough for another person? I love the specificity of the AOL verse. It’s so late 2000s. And the rest of the lyrics are so angsty and overdramatic as John is. Specifically in the context of the show this song really hurts after Lisa tells him she can’t fix whatever issues are wrong with him.

Rock 'N Roll Band - I love how the entire song is so what teenagers going through school, waiting for life to change, and seeking refuge in the only place where they feel like they are important and can be themselves. I love all their intros. I love Brandon going way too hard on the drums. “I’m gonna scream and shout, knock you out. I’m gonna conquer the world, get the girl. I’m gonna get some respect, finally connect. When I take a stand, with my rock ‘n roll band.” The extreme vividness of the type of stuck they feel here is so good and it’s a good summary of the show.

Pop Tarts - I love that this song is still called Pop Tarts despite all references to it having been removed except for one dialogue. I love the section of Chris’ vision for the band. The pre-reprise of the beginning of It’s All Good with “we’re cool and whatever?” and all of them joining in and getting on the same page. We love some boys just absolutely barely capable of communicating with each other with words.

Song In My Head/Only Person In The World - The absolute irony and poetry of John singing “I’m the only person in the world” and Chris singing about how everyone is gone when this is a duet. It’s literally so fucking good. When they both sing “I’m the only person in the world” at the same time? Are you kidding me? And this song is ranked 18th? Truly every song in this show is top tier.

Rather Be - This song is rather on the nose in its message, everyone would rather be at band rehearsal. It’s a solid song that helps us get into each of their characters more (“rather be where my buddies / now the same bands / and tolerate my drum fills” / “where my brothas like that I’m weird / and ask to see my squid impression” / “because we’ve only got a little while to get fantastic and get some style / if we do it soon then I won’t have to go to college” / “christ I’d rather be anywhere / but sitting trapped here taking this asshole test”). I love it when characters in shows all have different reasons for singing the same lines.

McFly Is Looking For A Drummer - Rip to this song, being ranked last. It’s not that I don’t like it because I actually do. Again, I just love all the songs in this show. He’s trying to communicate in his own way, which happens to be in music references, but that’s not how other people around him understand, and so he sees this opportunity to be with people who are more like him, but then he he gets scared that he wouldn’t fit in the way he hopes he would, which would be even worse than where he’s currently at where he knows that they don’t quite get him but are his friends anyways. I love that one moment where he drops out singing. It’s very reminiscent of in Michael In The Bathroom when you expect him to sing the title words but he doesn’t, so your brain fills it in for you. It functions a bit differently than that moment does in BMC though. I think in this song it’s the comparison of how he’s currently treated with the possibility of what McFly represents, that he could have the exact opposite experience there, that he’s imagining all the possibilities in that moment. Lol, ranked 20 and I still have so many things to say about this song.

Now get ready for my first round of thoughts-

I was thinking of Magnus (as one should) and why you would choose Lightwood Mansion as their residence (other than logistical reasons like Alec’s job) because just the setting itself puts Magnus and by extension all four of them in an uncomfortable place.

Your home is supposed to be your safe place and living in LM clearly takes that security away from him? Now maybe Magnus doesn’t hate it but he’s still not a fan (that’s what I’m assuming from whatever little info I have till nowsksks)

In the first ch, it was mentioned that Magnus has like barely 5 ppl that he sees at home and while it’s a reflection of how secretive he is in the fic. I’m assuming it’s also because he doesn’t fully feel like it’s his place.

It’s similar in case of women who have to move into their in laws house and never feel like it’s their place (specially in desi households) and that has an impact on their relationship with their partners as well as their mental health. And while idk their reasoning for living at LM, there are a lot of power dynamics between Magnus and Alec here. And since you mentioned that Magnus feels out of place a lot in this fic, I think maybe this is also one of those factors.

Anyways here are my two cents on a topic nobody asked for. In conclusion, idc how difficult Magnus is in the fic I will continue to stan. Like everyone’s saying how Magnus is bad at communicating as if we’re not all Magnus irl lmao

here are some of the fic concepts, dm me if interested & i can give more details ab what i envision for it. disclaimer: i am a harry is louis’ baby stan, so i do envision elements of that for each of the concepts! i also personally imagine these to be 2013 or 2014 larry, but i’m open to some other eras as well.

1) a little black dress / does he know? au

2) well known/famous football player louis in charge of his team’s summer football camp. football camp is selective in choosing who it admits. harry sucks at football but applies bc louis. harry gets in (shocker, i know). i wouldnt want louis to be closeted in this.

3) harry and louis are in the same class. idc what class it is. football player louis. harry has a crush on louis. (also maybe photographer harry that works louis’ games? just thought ab that possibility now) they get paired together for a presentation/project. university au.

5) louis’ family & harry’s family have always been close. this could be a louis is gemma’s bff / lottie is harry’s bff type fic, but it doesn’t have to be. basically harry has always admired & had a crush on louis, louis moves away for college. the families only get a chance to all be together again 2-3 years after louis leaves. so like a reunion of sorts ft childhood crush & getting together w that childhood crush.

6) famous louis (singer, actor, model, idc im not picky). fanboy harry, famous or non famous im down for either. not sure how they meet. maybe over instagram but maybe that’s more of a wattpad cliche. would be open to it being how they meet tho if done right. otherwise, not sure how they meet. would prefer neither of them to be closeted in this too. (just my opinion: closeted fics typically have too much angst & theres already enough closeting angst irl for larry, so id want these to be happier fics w no closeting.)

idc if you are a spike stan or not, but you cannot justify his actions in 'seeing red.' you can't forget it happened or make excuses for why he did it. it was a purely mad, selfish act of violence derived from a twisted and toxic relationship. there is no denying that spike loves buffy — but because he is a vampire without a soul, that love will never be the pure, selfless love he thinks it is. it manifests in aggression and control and manipulation and mutually assured destruction for personal gain. i am not justifying his actions by saying ‘oh, he doesn’t have a soul, so it doesn’t count.’ it absolutely counts. 

i have seen many fans blame buffy for this, which is disgusting. equivocating the attempted rape to her using him throughout s6? those are NOT the same thing. nobody deserves to be raped or asks for it. it’s true — the nature of buffy and spike’s sexual relationship has been blurring the lines between pain and pleasure, yes and no, and love and hate since the beginning. it is not surprising that those lines would be crossed too far. yes, they were both using and taking advantage of each other throughout s6. but using buffy’s treatment towards spike to justify him assaulting her? that is too fucking far. 

i do love spike as a character, but i am not going to forget this happened in order to make him more palatable. that is erasing what buffy and others like her have gone through, and the way it was handled in the show was terrible. she never got closure for what he did to her, and she was expected to automatically forgive him once he got his soul back. i understand the ramifications of getting your soul back, and how that changes things, but it doesn’t erase what he has done. buffy doesn’t owe him anything, not even forgiveness. it is both buffy and spike’s journey as individuals to decide what they will do. for buffy, she chooses the path of forgiveness. for spike, he chooses the path of repentance. those were their choices, chosen for themselves. 

that is why buffy and spike’s relationship in s7 is completely different to theirs in s6, but it does not erase what happened in s6. they have both been victims, and they have both been abusers, and they are foils for each other — but we as viewers cannot take that AR as an isolated incident and remove it from spike’s character and their relationship. it happened. it was fucked up and terrible. yes, he snapped out of it and was immediately remorseful. but it was still attempted. not out of love, but out of desperation and selfishness. that was the catalyst for him to make the choice to get his soul back, so that the love he has for buffy will no longer be twisted into dark gain. that does not excuse him. 

you could say it’s bad writing. you could say it’s out of character or character assassination. i have mixed feelings about that. but it is canon. and no one should be expected to forgive or like spike because he fought for his soul, just as buffy’s forgiveness should not be expected. it is a beautiful thing, that he did that. it proves the innate goodness in him that is almost always overcome by a chimeric, demonic entity. his soul makes him whole, and allows his already-existing love for buffy to express itself in purity, the way it was intended. such is his journey. 

buffy deserved time to heal, but of course, she never gets what she deserves. she never deserved any treatment spike put her through. the fact that she couldn’t love spike, knowing he had no soul, is not her fault. their relationship in s6 is complex, tangled and messy (taking into account the deep symbolism and reflections their relationship evokes) and definitely toxic and unhealthy. 

i don’t know where i’m going with this, I just had to get my thoughts out. i have seen many different opinions on this scene/episode and most of them hold their own merit, but blaming buffy and/or equivocating her using him with the assault is never okay. but it's very true of society at large to blame women for mens actions, so I guess i’m not surprised.
