Kenta

Okay. It is once again time for me to talk about my number one little man. I was interested in Kenta from the very beginning, and at some point I realized that I was not going to be normal about him, but I really did not anticipate how much he would come to mean to me. I hope y'all have enjoyed witnessing my descent into feral blorbo state. It is not over for me in the slightest.

I want to say that Garfield really acted the shit out of this role, and the writers knew what they were doing when they cast him. His arc was so important to the overall plot, with his growth being pivotal to Tony's downfall, and yet he had a relatively small amount of dialogue to work with (although certainly not the smallest amount of the cast).

A lot of his scenes involve him standing in Tony's office, taking instructions, or even just simply observing. A lot of his lines are based around business deals and errands—rather than furthering his emotional development. He doesn't give big speeches, he doesn't talk about his feelings or his dreams, it's always just "I'm doing xyz for Tony, and I will never betray him."

Some of his most dialogue heavy scenes are in one stairwell with Pete and in another with Tony, which I think are extremely pivotal moments, both of which reveal a fear of abandonment.

But it's honestly when he's quiet that he says the most.

And I love that, I'm obsessed with it. I love that the whole fandom could insantly tell that he and Pete had something going on, just from the way they looked at each other. I love that the storytelling in his arc was so highly visual.

In the beginning, Kenta appears to be nothing more than Tony's lackey: quiet, intimidating, and actively complicit with what is going on.

But as we see him more and more, it becomes exceedingly apparent that he cares, so much. I know I am biased in saying this, but I do also pay close attention to what other people are saying about Kenta, and I know almost everyone has been waiting the entire series to see him stand up to Tony. The amount of acting that Garfield did with his eyes, while remaining such a stoic character, was insane.

Despite him repeatedly declaring his loyalty to Tony, despite the fact that he does not reveal any actions against Tony until episode 12, we feel so much of his inner conflict.

I think for me, personally, the aspect of Kenta's character that I relate to the most is his inability to speak up when he wants to. I've struggled with selective mutism my entire life, and there have been countless, countless scenarios where I've had so many things to say and no ability to say them. The more dire the situation, the more my words fail me. I have to spend so much of my energy constantly planning for potential conflict scenarios just so I can have the time I need to figure out which words to use. Because it can sometimes take months for me to figure out certain phrases. And because it is so painful to stay silent when you want to tell someone to stop. To stop fighting, to stop hurting each other, to stop hurting me.

So I was beyond moved and proud to watch Kenta finally be able to protect his brothers and quietly say the one thing he has wanted to say all along.

I will take some of the words that P'Chod gave to Garfield before they went into production. "It’s just you want to live in a peaceful house and be happy together.” All we want is peace.

I wish that Kenta had not been forced to kill Tony because I don't think he has ever wanted to hurt anyone. But I'm sure as hell not sorry that he did it. There will always be people who are unwilling to stop.

And I recognize that Kenta tried a peaceful method first. He gave X-Hunter what they needed to put Tony in jail, and Tony refused to give up. He was never going to be the kind of person who would simply surrender. To him, these people's lives are property that he is entitled to.

Here is an auto translation of something Garfield said about Kenta at the final episode screening.

"I already knew that Kenta would be similar to me, in that I'm someone who doesn't dare to express my feelings to the people around me, saying very little. So when I got the role, I felt… that it teaches us that as long as we dare to be ourselves and do things that make us happy, that's enough."

We may never know what happened to Kenta after Tony died, but I hope he is able to find his peace. I hope he is able to engage with restorative justice, and I hope he is able to learn what family really should be.

If there was one thing that Sanemi and Shinobu agreed on, it was that they weren't going to laugh easily, was it because of embarrassment? Perhaps because he wants to appear his position as a "tough person"?

This is something me and my best friend is talking about.

The Lilith thing - my point is we don't know if the book is true. If Adam really was this controling and abusive person at the beginning. I don't think it's true, to be honest, because in Eden they're supposed to untouched and innoncent. It makes me wonder if what Lilith thought was controlling and abusive, might have been something small and sweet? We don't know, but what we do know, Eden didn't have curelty in it. So it is doubtful Adam was controlling and abusive when Eden wouldn't allow it.

The exterminations - I'm sorry but I don't think he is wrong for this. It's Hell. The human souls that go down there are terrible, evil people. We use sinners like Angel and Husk for examples. But realistically, they wouldn't have went to Hell. They would have been in Heaven. I feel they went to Hell just to make Hell more sympathic. I feel unless the soul has killed someone, commited awful crimes, they would still go to heaven. If they take drugs, selfharm, drink or something like that, they would still go to heaven because those things are normally born out of pain.

Sir Pentious being redeemed. Correct me I am wrong, but didn't he kill like thousands of people with a bomb? Could you imagine if you were one of those people and you just saw your murder appear in Heaven? The whole redem plot line isn't good. Charlie doesn't think of the victims of the Sinners. I mean, we know it won't happen, but imagine Alastor being redeemed and you're one of his victims? Or your child is one of his victims?

Yeah, no. Adams right. It's crazy that people are going out of their way to make him into this shitty person when he really isn't.

Sorry to rant. It's a frustrating debate I'm having with BBF over here. She's very on Hell and Charlie's side, but come on, realistically no. Just no. It wouldn't work. Charlie's compeltely ignoring the elephant in the room. I think for it to acturally work, an eighth ring of heaven would have be made and the redeemed sinners would have to go there. Okay, so my take on it is yes, Adam belongs in Hell. Not just for the exterminations but also, he's not a very good person. Now, he likely was at one point and that got him into heaven.

That being said, the book of Hell is likely 110% made to make Lilith and Lucifer look like victims and Adam look bad. When I'm sure in reality, he was more of a victim being tricked and all.

But no, the souls down in Hell are in no way innocent. Sure, some have done lesser sins than others those are the ones that can be redeemed.

But the serial killers, rapists, pedophiles, and violent abusers of the world that go to Hell? They deserve to be there 100%

I'm sure Charlie has lived a VERY sheltered life if she thinks she can fix people with kids games.

As far as Angel and Husk go, yeah I'm sure they were made to be more sympathetic but I'm also sure they've done things we aren't aware of yet.

Adam isn't a saint but he's not wrong. It would be very traumatic for someone who was in heaven that was murdered for example and they see the guy that killed them walking around.

Adam had the right idea to kill sinners like that. The unredeemable.

Redeemed sinners getting their own heaven in the form of an 8th ring would be interesting. For Charlie's plan to work she would need to redeem hundreds of not thousands of sinners a month to make a dent in the overpopulation of Hell.

something i jotted down earlier on twitter because i had sudden thoughts about cale thinking choi han was a compelling and relatable character when reading tboah, and then cale fell a little bit in love before they even met

Roksu doesn't know why he borrowed so many books.  Maybe he wanted something to occupy his mind, and the many volumes of The Birth of a Hero would suffice as a distraction.  So he starts to read. 

He reads slowly, even though he could read much faster if he tried.  But it's nice to take things slowly when it's not related to work.  And so Roksu slowly reads about Choi Han, the hero of this multi-volume series—a young teenager suddenly thrown into a terrifying world. 

Roksu thinks of how his own world suddenly fell into chaos years ago when the monsters first appeared in Korea.  He feels sorry for Choi Han who had to struggle to survive.  Admires him too, for not giving up even though he was alone for so, so long in the Dark Forest.

Roksu feels happiness when Choi Han finds family in Harris Village; then Roksu feels despair when Choi Han loses that family all too soon.  Roksu deeply understands this type of unfair loneliness, this grief that never really goes away, and finds himself beginning to wonder:

How does Choi Han live after this? 

It's something Roksu wants to know after years of living alone.  He wants to know if someone else could find happiness after losing everything.  

So Roksu keeps reading slowly.  He reads about Choi Han's anger and sadness and growing darkness.  The future hero is no longer cheerful or gentle—not after everything he has gone through, not after everything he has done himself.  But he still treats others well and finds more companions as the story goes on.  

Roksu thinks Choi Han is a good person.  Good, and achingly kind.

Despite the author's propensity for excessive detail and plot deviations, Roksu can't stop reading book after book of The Birth of a Hero.  He wants (needs) to know how Choi Han's story ends.

When Roksu drifts to sleep, he thinks: I hope Choi Han finds happiness again.

When Roksu wakes up, he becomes someone else: Cale Henituse, a drunken lout that said some very cruel things to Choi Han in Volume 1, and deservedly got hit for talking shit. 

This is bad. Roksu (er, Cale) would prefer not to get beaten up by a novel character that he likes.

Clearly, Cale must become reasonably inoffensive so he can have a slacker life, and also not traumatize poor Choi Han.  Cale appears too late to save Choi Han's family in Harris Village, but he is determined to help the hero have an easier life in this version of the story.  He introduces Choi Han to allies sooner and is pleased to see the hero make friends.  

Cale isn't sure why there's much less… brooding… than initially expected, but he has no complaints about the positive change.  If he keeps helping Choi Han, maybe things will turn out better.

(One thing leads to another… and another… and another…) 

Years later, Cale is shocked to remember that his initial plan was to chase Choi Han away from him and then slack off without being injured.  Cale wonders how the fuck he got here.  His slacker life…!  Where has it gone…?

Well, at least one of Cale's wishes came true.  "Choi Han," he says, feeling foolish but wanting to confirm something, "are you… happy?" 

Choi Han blinks before smiling brightly.  "Of course, Cale-nim!" 

"That's good."  Cale looks away, embarrassed.  "I am too."

Cars 2 Rewrite

Gooood timezone, my lovelies!

This is your host, Cecil, speaking! Now- some of you have been asking about my Cars universe, especially when it comes to the second movie so I will explain! Though keep in mind - not everything's getting covered here due to a mix of spoilers, and well, I want to make this a long-term thing; gauge who might stick around pfft. I like receiving attention on my posts, so I know I'm not talking to a wall hahah but anyway; this is going to start off with the plot!

Rewritten Plot

Following Lightning's wins in the Piston Cup series, things have greatly settled. Lightning McQueen is returning to his home in Radiator Springs - after having finished a race back in the LA Motor Speedway - and he's looking for a little TLC. Though it seems fate has other plans as his best friend and potential crush - I mean, companion, of course - somehow ropes him into accepting the World Grand Prix races across Europe. In an unexpected turn of events, Lightning and Mater found themself caught within a tangled game of lies. Now, they're playing spy... but things are about to get a whole lot harder. In ways they didn't see coming.

While this rewrite doesn't currently seem like much, this was a project created by me and my partner, so!

Lightning McQueen

Lightning's role plays out a little differently within this piece, to say the least. The World Grand Prix seems like a dream come true, and he gets to spend it all with his team and his totally just a best friend, Mater. Now having a proper family, he feels as if he'll be able to do anything and win against Francesco Bernoulli, but this trip is going to be like no other. Following an incident witnessed by himself and Mater, Lightning is being thrown into the world of spies.

Benjamin "Tow" Mater

Mater is Lightning's best friend and confidante. Getting invited by Lightning to the World Grand Prix will certainly be an exciting adventure, and if sparks happen to fly between them - well, that's their own business, thank you very much! His eagerness is sure to make this a fun time, and he'll never leave his crush's - buddy - side no matter what! ... even if it means accidentally being thought to be a spy.

Finn McMissile

Finn McMissile... the best agent CHROME has ever seen. Being brought into a case about a dangerous camera which is not all it appears to be, but of course he and his trusted agent Shiftwell; not to mention the American spy's decision to help them in all of this. Though an unexpected case of mistaken identity leads to them bringing the wrong people into this... and really, what's the worst that could happen?

Holley Shiftwell

Holley's only supposed to be a techie. She's not a field agent by any means, but when she's paired with Finn McMissile during a mission - and now they've got the American with them but things aren't entirely as they seem. The weapon remains out there, and it might cost people their lives...

Changes within the Rewrite

Doc Hudson is alive during this! I couldn't bring myself to kill him and I thought his appearance in the World Grand Prix would make the storyline a lot more interesting

Lightning does willingly invite Mater to the competition. It felt so odd in the canon when he didn't and that just wasn't going to fly in this version

Hey different anon here, i always thought floweys actions in the canon was supposed to be a kind of dark reflection of the players own actions, and a parallel with how WE treat video games. I never really thought it had anything to do with trauma, cause like think about it, how many players abuse save states in video games to get away with evil shit? Most of them i would wager, and if you had the power to save, load, and reset, maybe you WOULD start to treat even your own reality like a video game.

Like, is it wrong when flowey does these things when we do the same? Because to him its real but to us its just a game or is it ok for him to do so because it really IS a game.

And flowey DID say he also spared everyone, in the same sentence he said he killed everyone, implying both are things he doesnt really place value in doing, he didnt do it for fun, he did it because he got bored, and we do the exact same things in video games when we play one a bunch, we start to experiment, we start seeing how different "npcs" react to different situations, we start making challenges for ourselves, we start analyzing characters and putting way more thought into their actions then the person who wrote them probably did.

When flowey has that power taken away from him, only then does he start to change from this desensitizing and feel intense emotion like rage when you don't do what he wants, or fear when you're about to kill him, both are caused by him not being used to not being in control, he spent so long being the one who gets to "play" the world that he can't accept a world he's not the "player" in.

Another factor might be that not having a soul inhibits his ability to feel empathy, but thats just headcanon, sorry for this long tangent, i just really like flowey, favorite character in undertale, just wanted to express my thoughts since everyones talking about him.

I think from a metatextual level, Flowey 100% is meant to be a dark mirror of the player, which is likely why his full backstory is only given in geno, since at that point you're treading a similar path as him if you go all the way on that route. That being said, I don't think there's a lack of trauma. At the end of the day, the buttercup plan involved watching his best friend/sibling die, said sibling sharing control of his transformed body (which is implied to be VERY unsettling in appearance), his refusal to take a single SOUL, which led to his death, and then awakening in a new form, unable to connect to others the way he used to and assuming he was broken as a result of it. He did try to take his own life, after all, and only came back from it because he got scared and his determination brought him back. His power allowed him to avoid consequences and grow detached, of course, but there is absolutely room to read trauma as a PART of how he got to be this way. Not the sole factor, but a pretty significant one, especially if you interpret his loss of compassion as an undiagnosed PTSD symptom misunderstood due to toxic positivity culture among monsters. e.g. this idea that their souls are made of love, hope, and compassion and that makes them different/better than humans. Considering how many monsters force smiles to deal with their pain, I legit this mindset is super harmful to all monsters and they might not even realize it. Flowey is a great and complex character, and losing his abilities definitely also impacted his actions, for sure. I definitely am not a fan of the immense woobification of Asriel in the fandom, like, at all, and it's part of why this arc in IF is taking its time to do more character exploration and stuff since in UT, a lot of his depth is locked behind a route the game actively doesn't want you playing.

I know you’re on team renruki all the way (I am too!) but I was curious if you had other characters in mind who you’d think would match up well with renji romantically. Kind of like a backup ship? :)

I used to have a lowkey fondness of Renji/Orihime, primarily because they are both people who put everyone before themselves, and that's a ship dynamic that's very appealing to me. I sometimes think that if Renruki had not been canon, I might have gone deeper down this rabbithole, altho I think it more likely that I probably just wouldn't have ended up writing any Bleach fanfic at all. (I did write one, ages ago). Since that time, however, I have written so much Renruki fanfic that focuses on the depth and breadth of their relationship to the point where nothing else comes close for me. I have also enjoyed the occasional RenIchi content (not so much b/c I'm into it, but because the RenIchi people are really talented), but I always get the same hang-up of it's just not Renruki. I used to have more tolerance for non-Rukia Renji ships, but I've gotten less flexible about it over time, I guess.

That being said, I often enjoy seeing Renji get paired up with other people in non-endgame ways. He's an easygoing guy and fun to be around and also really good looking, so I don't think he lacked for companionship during his separation from Rukia. (Note: I don't think either of them were celibate during that time, and I don't regard this as being "unfaithful." It was 40 years, Renji had no idea if his plans were ever going to pay off, and they are both pragmatists.) At the same time, I think there's this level at which he is just not emotionally available, because he's still hung up on her. I actually think that it is the nature of Soul Society that relationships are ephemeral by default. Shinigami live until they get killed, which could be a really, really, really long time, and marriage and children aren't necessarily the goal unless you're in the succession line of a noble family. It's funny to think about, to me, the idea of dating someone for a couple of hundred years, but not really be serious about it. It lasts while it lasts, y'know?

Anyway, here are some Renji-hookup scenarios I enjoy, in order of how much I enjoy them. (if you're wondering why there are no captains on this list, it's because power-imbalances in relationships are a huge turn-off to me)

Shuuhei. Extremely Renji's type. Also very easy-going and a good friend. Shuuhei has baggage, sure, but the Rukia-thing doesn't particularly intersect with any of his own baggage. Just two hot guys, drinking, smooching, writing copy for the Seireitei Comm and tooling around on the motorbike.

Nanao. I think he would be really into the sexy librarian thing she has going on. I think she would appreciate that he has more going on in the brains department than it would appear. The fact that he's hung up on an old flame is fine, since she's cursed to kill anyone she marries. They have incredibly hot sex. Truly spectacular.

Rangiku, but strictly friends-with-benefits. The benefits are really good tho.

I am not immune to a really angsty fanfic where he hooks up with Momo.

I think that in his Squad 11 baby days, he had the most gruesome crush one person has ever had on another on Ikkaku (who is 1000% taken, which might be Part of It). I hope you just full-body shuddered. I'm obsessed with this, though, sorry, not sorry.

I read a fanfic once that was really pre-relationship IkkaYumi, but there was an extended period of Yumichika and Renji hooking up and I think about this more than I should??

Because it feels like an omission, I want to say for the record that I wish all the love to the Izuru/Renji shippers, but I am not for it, because I think their mental unwellnesses intersect in a way that makes them really great and supportive as friends but would turn bad quick in an intimate relationship. oho...!! i do think even a general replay (without seeing other routes) is really worthwhile to get a better feel for the characters & see how you can recontextualize things they're doing/have said at the time... i love combing through to see what nao and kai were up to in particular just before the main games <3

while i do think there was more that nankidai could've stood to do to differentiate the two routes particularly to make kanna & shin's separate routes feel like an actual choice, i do think that what small things are changed are still worthwhile & cool to see! i hope you enjoy your replay!!! :D

YEAH exactly... i'm really sad that it's taken until his literal death to truly appreciate him as a character when more morally ambiguous characters like... well. shin, keiji, and even kai (though i'd honestly argue that most people don't see kai for who he is, you know; rather they place emphasis on his attractive appearance...) -- what they've done & how they behave are excused because they're, frankly, thin enough to care abt.

i've gone on about this before, so i won't linger much more than i need to, but i find it so strange that most people don't seem to recognize that - if not in the moment, i can understand that everyone's emotions are in a swirl. even the player's, but in chapter two when he says he felt a connection w kai - q-taro is autistic. and this definitely makes how he approached things in the first main game all the more understandable, personally... being so blunt about it when he'd settled on it being the clear solution, he even outright says that he doesn't want to see any of them just resign themselves right away to being voted out! & then we learn in ch3 as well that he's also experienced suicidal ideation which just lends so much more value to what he says...!! he doesn't want anyone to die, but certainly not with the belief that it's the only option they had. he wants them to at least have the chance to fight, just in case. and he's willing to hold himself to the same standard!

of course, first impressions mean a lot, but i feel like people saw this and completely missed the entirety of chapter 2 where he quickly warms up to gin afterward & even apologizes to sara for all she's had to deal with, despite it not being his fault, and expressing that he wishes there was something he could do even irt miley... he cares so much abt the kids within the group, even if it takes a lot of courage to support strangers when he knows he has other kids waiting at home for him... he still tries his damnedest, you know? i feel like there's something about that you have to respect. even when he's attempting to leave, you visibly see how conflicted he is about it & it's why sara can pick up on it so early, because he doesn't want to do this, it just feels like the only option... which. well. there's something to say about how gin's the one who's freely handing out tokens and yet q-taro goes to someone like sara first. someone who's been steadily pushed into the figurehead of the group, who is clearly strategic... versus someone who resembles the people q-taro's trying to get back to. hmmm. i sure wonder what the implications are here. (& i have a post for you. that you might enjoy... i've been meaning to write it for a while but i forget. but the idea is there.)

but. yeah... they didn't give him much room to grow in their mind after this point, which is so disappointing & definitely created a very toxic space. beyond that, it played into general southern stereotypes of him being the only homophobic/transphobic one, which i honestly often find treatment of to be in poor taste (it can be used well in stories, but you shouldn't just. throw bigotry on characters simply because you hate them...) -- but also just. blatantly untrue?

even just. everything about his treatment of people in general being so understanding once you explain something to him, or his desire to be a good person worthy of looking up to (which is why it doubly wrecks him when he sees himself become disabled/suicidal in the hospital, because he's become such a rotten person and he feels it and it's a terrible, terrible cycle) for the orphanage kids & to prove something to the parents who abandoned him that he's still worthy of being loved too... he believes in equivalent exchange in social dynamics, only ever giving out what you can take, just... in what world would he be so insensitive?

and this isn't even bringing up the fact that he has slightly longer than shoulder-length hair + nonetheless treats kai/mishima with a lot of respect and care even with them both generally being considered (physically, as well as in their demeanor) strange. combined with the fact that he relates to kai on the basis of being "lonely" rather than "loved" for what's unchangeable about them... there's so much there to read into. not just with autism or ptsd, but. gestures. transgenderism, being mixed, so on. things that sara had people to help support her with prior to the death game, or that she lacked altogether (if she's fully japanese)

but i digress! i'm glad that ch3-1 skirted some hatred toward him, but i definitely agree -- he's such a well-rounded characters even prior to that & it deserved to be acknowledged...!!

I remember you mentioned that Yui will appear in the Excruciating Duplicity universe, but what will her role in the story be? Personally, I hate that the fandom only uses her to ship her with Ayato, because I feel like the fandom reduce her character only to being Ayato's S/O. In no way am I trying to tell you what you can or can't do with your story! I just think MC/Yui has potential to bring something interesting to the plot (as well as the rest of the Diaboys).

And lastly, I really like the universe you created for this blog! You have a lot of imagination ♡.

How is Callista's relationship with the rest of her siblings and with her parents?

Callista has a slightly complicated relationship with her family - but it's nowhere near the amount of complicated as the rest of the universe, and my other OCs.

Since Calli was born with such a gap between herself and Ioanna - then again before Helios (still working out the exact time lapses), she had no immediate siblings while growing up. What's more, since her parents had gotten to the point where the Adler Kingdom was in an age of peace - and having all ready raised five children prior - they used Calli's birth as a sign to 'spread their wings'.

So, while they doted on her - since she was their only child at the time, Calli did get to grow her own independence. She had such dazzling older siblings - all of which had their own lives once she was born. While none were particularly cold to her, they didn't really interact much. Once her younger brothers came into the picture, Calli was excited to finally have siblings. However, she ended up being more motherly to them, rather than a sibling.

All and all, it's not that they have a negative relationship. Callista loves all of her siblings and her parents. Moving away to be with the Sakamaki wasn't something she wanted - nor they, however, she is duty bond to ensure her families security. Something she is happy to do.

How does Callista feel about the rest of the Sakamaki brothers and about the Mukami and Tsukinami brothers?

By the time Calli arrives - it is set in the future of the current cannon. So, all of the boys are older, out of high school, and moving towards where their futures are going to take them. By rest - I am thinking you mean outside of Reiji and Shu, so I will go with that.

The triplets are not around much. With Laito and Kanato always running away from their duty; really the only one she sees is Ayato (surprisingly). From what she has seen, the two younger of the triplets seem fine enough - but a little off putting. They both stare quite a bit, but both with different tones. Ayato is involved with the plans to over throw Karlheinz - so he comes around more often. He is loud and outspoken - which isn't a bad thing, but Callista thinks he should think before speaking. Subaru is also involved - and gets along with Calli well enough. His temper is mostly on display with the others - he doesn't get nearly as angry with Calli.

Now the Mukami & Tsukinami are another story. They do exists in the ED universe - and prove to be troublesome to the efforts against Karlheinz. Callista isn't aware of the plotting - or at least not to the extent that everyone else is - but she does know that those two families are not on good terms with the Sakamaki. From what little she has seen of them, they put Reiji and Shu both in a bad mood - so to her, it's understood to keep her distance from them.

Yui will appear in the Excruciating Duplicity universe, but what will her role in the story be?

You know, I don't really know yet. Personally, I don't know a lot about Yui - even though I have seen lots of post about her. I think that Yui has something to offer the story. In the case of ED I am leaning towards her either being with Ruki or Ayato. Maybe even Carla?

I kind of want her to be what she is in the cannon - someone who is fought over. I don't plan to change anything about who she is, or her role in everything. If anything, I feel that will work to the advantage of the war plot - having Cordelia running around inside of Yui will get interesting when Karl and Burai's conflict comes to a head.

That being said - her story would have all ready begun once Callista joins the plot. Since she meets the families in high school, I would assume that she has found her place once Calli joins in. Where that place is - I am not sure. She might end up with a completely different boy - I'm not too sure.

Really the spark of her even being in the story is because of the new OCs that I am making for a certain boy (the ones I have been dropping hints about). Because of who they are with - Yui kind of has to be in the universe. But yeah, having her will be interesting - I'll need to think on it more.

OK tumblr apparently hates me because twice now I've wrote out a relatively long slightly ramble post and it's let me click post and then just not posted, and as far as I can see there not in my drafts so, instead of that post, I will be watching all the episodes of bsd 5 tomorrow and just noting down any thoughts I have, probably mostly appreciating Ranpo and making fun of Fukuchi, because that's fun to me. However there are 2 thoughts that won't leave my head and so tumblr gets to have them.

So first of all I've seen manga panels of Dazai getting shot and presumably dying, which I guess is a spoiler but has also been all over tumblr and it looked like it was on twitter too. Quite frankly, I'm not buying it, and not just because I love Dazai and am living in denial. I've already been burned by BSD in this department of being convinced a character is dead and then bringing them back. I am, of course, talking about Margaret. I thought Akutagawa had killed her and then, a season later, she was brought back, albeit in a coma, to further a plot. Also this is Dazai, if anyone could come back from being shot in to head it's him. For all that he's suicidal and has no will to live, hes really bad at dying, which is good for those of us who like Dazai and I won't complain about that. The only people that have died and stayed so far are Oda and his orphans and Rando (I only watch anime). There may be others but I can't remember them. There were a couple characters who appeared in one episode and were killed off in the episode but everyone else has simply said no to death, which I can respect. Honestly they could get his body out of the prison and have a whole like funeral/memorial scene with all of the characters mourning him and I still wouldn't be fully convinced he's dead. So maybe it is slight denial but I stand by what I said.

My second thought was that I still feel sorry for Bram stoker. I dont care what terrible things he's done, he doesn't deserve the fate he's been given. I can just imagine Fukuchi going on and on about his plan, sounding so confident since he always has turn back time as a backup plan, and he just can't escape it. He's stuck forced to listen. That's the true evil right there.

Also I have a lot of thoughts about how Fukuchi is actually not a good villain, as in I'm not intimidated by him and don't truly see him as a threat. Like his sword is a threat, moreso when he weilds it, since he makes it more effective, but the guy himself? He should be more of a threat than he is. I'll address that tomorrow as I rewatch the episodes because its a big part of my mental commentary and making fun of Fukuchi hours. He might actually be one of the worst villains in the show. I'll address that on a later date. Another thought I'll be addressing tomorrow is my theory that Fyodor is the true leader of the Decay of Angels. Like if they had to listen to one of them regarding a plan they'd listen to Fyodor over Fukuchi. They just can't be bothered with Fukuchis attempts to murder or control them with the sword. Also, bing is my search engine and when I looked up who is the leader of the decay of angels? You know to double check it was Fukuchi, it had his name but the picture next to his name was Fyodor so do with that what you will. Anyway no more thoughts head empty.

Also if anyone has asks regarding anything to do with the BSD anime, I'd be happy to answer them because thinking about/discussing BSD is fun and I do have opinions on a lot of things

1. Tommen and Margaery in Nine Realms?

- Okay their year long marriage happened similarly in GOT series.....except in the Green Sept Massacre, with some help from some Light Fae in disguise as Priests and Nuns in this, a number of the Highgarden party managed to escape

- Unlike in GOT, in ASOMAM, Tommen was informed of what Cersei is doing to the Highgarden party and summoned an army of guards to help them escape as fast as they can.

- But when he got there, the Highgarden party are fleeing from an exploding building

- Suddenly, Cersei's guards show up and a great fight began to happen between Tommen's guards and Cersei's guards!

- Now Tommen doesn't really fight as much, but it turns out he becomes a damn gifted swordsman, much better than Joffrey's sword fighting skills, really

- Tommen scrambled to defend the Highgarden party to flee back to Highgarden as quick as possible, the Light Fae in disguise quickly teleported the frantic Highgardeners back to the Reach as much as possible

- At that, Cersei's guards began to slay Highgarden natives left and right, causing the Light Fae party in tow to use their magic to help save as many Highgarden natives as much as possible

- But just as Cersei's guards are about to chain Tommen...

- A sudden rush of rainbow light appeared in front of Tommen, and he woke up finding himself in the Asgardian royal throne room

- In Asgard

Tommen : WHY AM I HERE? WHERE IS THIS? WHO ARE YOU ALL STRANGE PEOPLE? AM I DEAD OR ALIVE? IS THIS THE SEVEN HEAVENS? WHY AM I NOT IN VALHALLA?

Tommen is so confused and shocked at EVERYTHING ELSE that just happened

- After Odin and the Asgard courtiers explained everything, Tommen finally calmed down somewhat

- It turns out Heimdall discovered in a watch duty that Cersei planned to bomb the Green Sept AND imprison Tommen for ' siding with the Highgarden wench ' or smth. Usually the Gods of the Seven will not interfere with matters of mortals as much. But this they cannot stand. A mother trying to harm her own child, especially like that? That has gone too far, even by the Gods of Seven's standards!

. Tommen : But why would she do this? I mean, my mother Cersei can be quite a difficult woman, but why all this ?

. Frigga looked at the bewildered young mortal lad with pity and said with a smile, ' Some mortals really have no love in their hearts.....not even to their children, sadly '

. At that, Tommen becomes on the verge of tears

. Loki steps forward and conjured some images of Margaery being safe in the Alfheim royal court, Myrcella safe in the Rhohynar ( long story in a next part ), and many of his loved ones being safe away from the Green Sept ( and recovering )

. Tommen smiled a bit, knowing at least many escaped from the Green Sept Massacre

. But, in those images, Loras was crowned new King of the Reach. His parents are killed in the Green Sept Massacre, and Loras was wearing bandages all over his burnt marks when being crowned, his eyes wistful and he cannot really smile

. Tommen : Poor Loras....

. Loki : He has some Light Fae knights to help defend him now. The Dowager Queen Aelsa Featherwine approves of this.

. Tommen : I see, but why....us? Why not any other mortal?

. Odin : Did you remember your cousin, Shireen Baratheon?

Tommen : Yes. Now she's with the Narrow Sea Pirates, last I remember

Odin : * smiled kindly * She is also foster daughter of my elder son Thor and Lady Jane. She has also learned some new spells from my younger son Loki and Lady Sigyn

Tommen :....So she's becoming a witch now?

Frigga : A good one. We picked her to learn some magic because we believe she's the one who can help bring magic back to Westeros.....

Tommen : Oh.

Jane Seaworth : I'm sorry for all the confusion, and I'm sorry for what happened to you. But you are safe here now.

. And so, Odin officially announced that Tommen will be under wardship of Loki and Sigyn, for the time being

. And Tommen will learn more skills of magic, cunning and army tactics later on

. Meanwhile, in Alfheim Royal court, after much explanation from the Light Fae courtiers, Margaery calmed down somewhat and agreed to stay at that court for her safety....for the time being

. Back at Highgarden, Loras thought his sister was also killed, until those Light Fae around him ( disguised as mortal knights in front of rest of the public ) explained to him everything. Loras calmed down somewhat and wishes to one day meet his sister again

. Tommen was 14 during that mess. Poor lad

. Actually at those point , Tommen doesn't go to battlefields yet, but he's becoming a great swordsman

2. Myrcella flees to Rhohynar

- Before the Green Sept Massacre, the Lannister party showed up to attend Trystane and Myrcella's upcoming wedding. Myrcella was sent to Dorne at 14 in her bethrothal to Trystane, and she was scheduled to Wed when she was 16

- Anyway, one thing led to another, Ser Gregor Clegane ( a knight in allyship to the Lannisters ) KILLS Oberyn in a duel!

- But unlike in the GOT series, Ellaria stopped whatever acts of vengeance the Sunspear council wanted, reminding them that the cycles of revenge will be even worse on them. Myrcella finally finds out the truth of her mother and agreed to go to Rhohynar with the other Martells in tow in refuge against Cersei's threats. She and Trystane are also wed there

- The Martells also held a proper funeral for Oberyn, with Jon and Natasha in attendance ( they are also shocked and horrified by this ), before the other Martells fled to Rhohynar the very next day. Natasha Martell offers Myrcella comfort and they bond over a shared understanding of what it's like being player and pawn of the Game of Thrones

- And all hell breaks loose after Myrcella fled to Rhohynar with Trystane. Cersei FLIPPED and kept spreading rumors of how her daughter was ' abducted by the copper skinned sand people ' and waged rampage on Dorne, causing hundreds of families to flee to different parts of Essos. Even Kamala's family fled to Faros for refuge, Kareem/Red Dagger's family fled to Qal for refuge, and Nakia Bahadir ( who followed Myrcella to Dorne. She becomes a handmaid to Myrcella remember )'s family all fled to Tyrosh for refuge.

- Jon and Natasha tried painstakingly to nip the KL - Dornish disputes to the bud

- Meanwhile in Rhohynar, the Martell Rhohynar branch accepted the Dornish Martells in tow for refuge, while gearing up armies to fight against Cersei's fleets against the Rhohynar. They all kept Myrcella safe amongst them and those Rhohynar courtiers taught Myrcella the ways of the Rhohynish dessert

- Myrcella was quite an unexpected addition to the Rhohynar Royal court. Usually, the Rhohynish royals intermarry with families of Fantasy Islam background. But Myrcella is a Faith of the Seven person. Yet with her dangerous circumstances, the Rhohynish court agreed to take her in, then the Dornish Martells can return to Dorne when the mess is over

- Myrcella quickly wears desert Rhohynish clothes. And although Rhohynish climate is very different from Dornish climate ( more sand and even hotter ), Myrcella found ways to adapt - carrying parasol in the sun and all that

. Myrcella began to help patron for the soup kitchens in Rhohynar in that war, earning her being widely called as ' the Peoples Princess ' by the Rhohynish in general

3. The tale of Michelle Manderly

- In ASOMAM, Michelle Jones is Lady Michelle Manderly, daughter of Manderly lord and Lady Madeline Fury of Iron Pointe. She is also a granddaughter of Ser Nikolos Fury and Lady Priscilla Manderly

- Michelle also has an older sister named Gayle who was more of a ' proper lady ' and 4 years older than her. Gayle is more like her mother - decorous, poised and highly diplomatic. Michelle is more like her father - snarky, adventurous and free spirited

. When Peytr Parker first met Michelle, Michelle was a new addition to the Golden Cloak squirehood ( and also the underground KL Rebellion ). Gayle was already married into the House Reed of The North and have twin toddler children.

. The truth is Michelle Manderly was sent by the North royal court to be a spy for Lannister Intel for the Stark armies. Only Team Jon Snow soon knew about this.

. Michelle and Peytr began a romance and things went well with them....until during the War of the Sinister 6 in KL, Michelle was thrown across a high canopy by Green Goblin, causing Peytr to risk his life to save her, and her unfortunately having bruises from the traumatizing attack

- Due to her severely traumatized state to the point of near insanity, and also Michelle's true purpose in KL began to be discovered, the Golden Cloak rebels decided that it's best for Michelle to recover in the North....for the time being

. Peytr hotly protested. With the War of North and South, he may never see Michelle again

. Peytr even knelt down on one knee in front of Michelle and impulsively said, ' Michelle, let's run away together. We make a new life of our own...away from this. You - you don't have to go back yet. Trust me! '

. Peytr knew he's saying those things out of impulse, yet his heart was raging and grieving over what happened to Michelle. Michelle smiled sadly that they must wait till they can see each other again in person. She will always be faithful to him, and they shall exchange letters in the time being.

. Respecting her decision, Peytr let her go, but not without kissing her passionately as a farewell kiss for now

. Unfortunately, Aunt May died being killed by Ser Otto Octavius, so Peytr was under ward of Jon and Natasha in KL...for the time being

. Back in the North, Michelle returns to the Manderlys only to find her mother becoming sickly and her father still at war at the sea borders of the North. So Michelle was sent over to be warded at Iron Pointe at the time being

. Lady Priscilla Manderly decides to take her under her wing to learn more on ' ladylike ' skills. Michelle was befuddled - she spent most of her young life dreaming of being a shieldmaiden, and now she found herself learning more on diplomacy etiquette and embroidery from her grandmother Priscilla

. Michelle also becomes a handmaid of Virgina Potts at those points

. But even with her recovery, Michelle gradually began to help more in behind the frontlines of the defense of Iron Pointe, all the while keeping in contact with Peytr via letters

. Peytr's loved ones in KL and Michelle's loved ones in the North all comforted them in their in person separation after what happened in the War of Sinister 6. They all reassured the 2 young lovers that those circumstances are not their fault. They did the best they could. It's just that those high stakes made the time not quite right yet for an in person union

. Both prayed for the day they can see each other again

ok vent post time, time to be a cheria/asbel hater 😩 I really don't want to rip apart this ship considering I like both characters and think they have the potential to be interesting if handled well... I just don't think canon handles them well 😓 For now I'm just going to look at them from the context of where I am in the story rn (their fight after Raymond's failed blackmail attempt), but maybe later I can do a follow-up post covering the whole game (and L&L which iirc does a better job of writing them romantically, if only marginally):

I have to lead this off by noting this is a terrible display from Asbel 😩 he's acting just like his dad did, being angry at the person for making him worry, though at least he hasenough sense to not fucking hit her over it -_- Yet here Asbel's being almost more unfair, as at least in Aston's case his 11 year old son had snuck away unsupervised and had his friends lie about where he was. But Cheria's old enough to not require adult supervision and mature enough to decide what degree of personal risk she's willing to take... and like she says, it's not like she even meant to be in danger in the first place, she just heard something she wasn't supposed to and got caught at it. But I'm not here to bash Asbel's character, in fact I think it's great that they're showcasing his flaws in this fight. Asbel is consistently characterized as someone who gets angry when he's really just feeling upset (*coughtoxicmasculinity coughmencan'tshowfeelingsbesidesrighteousanger*) and it makes sense for that negative trait to make an appearance in this circumstance.

It's pretty clear that both sides are fighting because they care about each other but rather than admit that, they're angry at the other for making them worry. But i'd say it's more or less healthy to air out these riled up emotions first so they can get to the heart of the matter that they've been avoiding:

This is all good! They needed to talk this out, even if it required them hitting a boiling point of emotions first. But the problem I have here is that this is only the beginning of an apology from both sides. They're finally being honest about why they did what they did, the choices they made seven years ago, but even though they're admitting it there's no evidence in this moment that the other actually understood, empathized, or forgave the other for that. There IS some evidence in the moments leading up to this, gathered rather piecemeal-y:

(I swear there's a line where Cheria admits "I know why you had to leave" but I can't find it 😩)

But in this moment, this fight and subsequent conversation and chance to make amends, neither one manages to verbally accept the other's feelings. Asbel doesn't acknowledge how the repercussions of the choice he made 7 years ago affected those he left behind. Cheria doesn't recognize that Asbel's method of coping with the grief of losing Sophie due to his own helplessness was to take action, to do SOMETHING because he couldn't then and is terrified of losing someone again. He was hurting, but so was she, and maybe they could have healed better with each other's company, but the actions they took and feelings they felt were completely justified to them at the time.

But like I said before, my issue is with how they end this argument and "fix" their relationship. Maybe it's foolish of me to expect a clear and explicit apology from these awkward teenagers' first attempt at romance (couldn't help but note that neither one actually says "I'm sorry" though), or lazy of me to expect the writers to spell it out when I so happily read into the subtext for other aspects of the story, but to me, the resolution of this fight implies that the underlying issues, though aired, have not been resolved. Since they never actually apologize, the part of the apology where you make plans to improve yourself and avoid hurting each other in the future has also been skipped. Instead, they've decided to simply drop the issue. This isn't a bad thing, as sometimes it's better to just drop it and move on, but that feels like a surface-level manner of resolving this personal grudge and subsequent dispute accrued over seven years, and it mostly functions just to keep the peace in the short term. We're supposed to believe that these characters have or want an intimate relationship in the long term, but they fall back on prideful denials and awkward smiles instead of clear communication. It's like they're in love with the idea of being in love with each other, without the underlying love. Attraction, sure, and affection, but not the kind of selfless love where you want what's best for the other. And for me, it's hard to get invested in that not when Richass is right there

I hope to come back to this topic because with careful examination I do think that the subtext for a healthy or at least interesting relationship is there, and I don't want to be uncharitable toward these characters just because of my bias for the gay pairing. This ship, though canon, is generally unpopular with the fandom, and I'd like to explore how much of that is justified, and where it went right or wrong. for a lesson in running away, keefe writes a LOT of letters. was there a process in choosing which characters to include and the order they appeared, or was it just “hey i feel like this character should get a letter”? the letters are almost like mini character studies, except it’s how the characters appear to keefe and not necessarily the reader — are there any real differences, or is keefe completely correct in his observations? does anyone ever read the letters keefe writes — other than the love letter at the end — or do they remain unsent? do his opinions and thoughts on the people he writes to change by the end of the story?

basically letters intrigue me and i am asking questions because i love answers. you don’t have to answer any of these, but i would like any background information you can provide regardless

was there a process to choose which characters and the order?

Yes there was! The characters depended on their relationships to Keefe, with the idea that these would be the people he'd think to write to. People like Della or Linh who didn't get much pagetime with Keefe are there because of the relationships we have to assume they have offpage. There's also a Forkle letter that didn't make it into the story because I didn't have a chapter for it.

The order was decided based on how easy they'd be for him to write. Biana was first because he knows exactly what he wants to say to her, and it isn't hard for him to say that she's like a sister to him and he loves her and he's a liar. But Fitz is last because the pain of admitting he wants something that (he thinks) will never happen and he hates Fitz for it... that's very hard for him to work through. Also, it was more dramatic in terms of plot and such. The letters were written before the chapters and before Fitz's chapters, so I did shift around the order based on that.

are the letters true character studies, or from Keefe's perspective entirely?

It's a mixture of both! personally I like the "letters you never plan to send" trope because it allows characters to express things without having to worry about judgement, allowing for insight into other characters as well as the writer.

In terms of Keefe: I like to think he's incredibly perceptive in terms of empathy and just intense observational skills, coming from his childhood in attempts to fit in at school and reading his parents' moods before he manifested. So yes, the letters are how he sees everyone else, and they're correct in the sense that this is how I see the characters, but also warped by him believing everyone is just as angry and broken as he is, while also being a better person than he believes he can be.

are the letters ever read?

Honestly that's up for you to decide! I could see him never wanting to return to viewing his friends in that way, only the negative (especially since he framed them in the "this is why I'm a terrible person, because I could not overcome or heal like you have") and also he doesn't want to remind himself of his hopelessness.

I could also see him eventually giving them to the recipients and letting them read their personal letters, overcoming the barrier that prevented him from expressing how he felt before he worked through his shit. I don't think that would apply to Cassius's letter, or Alden, since he's distanced from Cassius and Alden's is negative in a way that he doesn't need to know.

do his opinions on the letters change by the end?

I think they do. Keefe doesn't really talk to people besides Fitz, Sophie, Biana, and Tam (and Cassius) before the fic ends but the four of them express so much regret and anger and forgiveness over what happened that he realizes that other people might not be all motivated by pain and self sacrifice the way he is. Especially since his empathy is gone or weakened for a while, so he has to know them in a new way. The core of the letters, however, remain true, and he definitely realizes that as his empathy returns.

ON GOD!!! I forgot to include it in my predictions rewrite, but seriously, we NEED at least something to explain it. I mean, he was so messed up by whatever happened down there that his eye colour changed! That doesn't just- happen! I know none of the rescue gang mentioned it at the time because well adrenaline was pumping, and it was god knows how late so it probably wouldn't have been easy to see anyways, but if no one brings it up in season 2 I will be shocked.

(Added in a fold after writing because uh- I wrote a lot)

If somehow, some way, it was just Mr. Peterson, then good god, I drop all my book related theorizing about him being at least somewhat sympatic because there's no amount of dead wives and kids that can make up for breaking someone's mind like that. I would be expecting a "The rescue squad commits a murder" arc /j. However, I doubt it. I'm not fully convinced it is the Guest, and am iffy about what role the Thing will play in general (other than either Nicky or Aaron or - well, someone in the house drew it). If I remember correctly, but don't quote me on this, the guest can also change shape and mimick others which I've theorized with Calypso could explain the same repeated sob we hear the entire series (I would explain this with show budget but we also hear varieted crying in episode 6 so I don't know why they'd only use one asset everywhere else). So it could have to do with that.

It also makes me more curious about Aaron, though, admittedly. I'm pretty sure-ish at least personally that the shadow we see running out of the house is Aaron because of how quickly Mr. Peterson suddenly becomes okay with breaking the set rules and sprinting sprinting after the kids. (Don't know what his plan was with grabbing Trinity, though? Does he think just having a kid in his basement would lure whoever escaped back?) This is all assuming Aaron IS alive, of course. But I'm curious to see what he's like if he does make an appearance. Nicky was in the basement for weeks and kind of okay-ishhhhh, comparitively to episode 6. Aaron would've been down there for several months, assumedly at least as long as Nicky's been tracking Mr. Peterson. Is he going to be as- broken as Nicky? Worse? Better?

Though the other sort of- I dunno mini theory? It's made me wonder is if he has brief moments of "normalcy." Maybe sparked when his friends are more directly talking to him? My biggest evidence of this is in episode 6, when this happens

Trinity grabs Nicky's shoulders and says "I need my friend. I need you back!"

Nicky stares at her, blinks quickly a few times, does a more "hard" focused blink, and his eyes seem more "focused" his pupils are even fully back to normal size, larger than the first image even when you line his head up to account for the zoom in.

He says "I-" and glances off to the side before turning, when suddenly that focus in his eyes is gone.

This is when we get the "I know where to go" which is not the line I think he was originally aiming to say, or at least not in the "we need to go back to the basement" way he says it here. I've seen people in general point to Nicky's behavior this episode and say it might be possession of sort (mainly because change in eye colour is a common sign of possession) but I'm not convinced myself.

Nicky's unfocused eyes as I'll call them seem to stare without looking. They stare straight ahead almost blindly. But when he's refocused, he has a very specific glance to the side. This could be him just looking around before he turns, and I'm overthinking it, but I'm also thinking it might be something he saw in his peripheral. Something maybe the others can't see because they weren't subjected to the basement really as much as they were just thrown down there.

We kind of see this same panicked looking in the basement at the room with the crow door. After opening it and tackling Trinity, he has another "eyes blink into refocus" moment before he starts rattling off "I'm sorry"s. Not stagnent or statue like but instead visibly shaking and flinching when touched. He looks around again before walking off, and the next time we see his eyes, they're the smallest and most horrified we see in the whole episode, and he's hugging his knees in utter dread. He's cowering, and as the others even try to go the "wrong way," he shrinks back into the washer/dryer like its cover.

Even how he replies to Trinity "Right" before closing his eyes tightly, "Wrong. Wrong way!" Only to (seemingly) have returned to unfocused again with how he's suddenly okay with leaving the washer/dryer and being pulled along and how the next time we see him his voice has gone monotoned again.

Now, this might be going too deep into over analyzing (if I haven't hit there already) , but stick with me here. The drawings we see upstairs don't match the rest of Aaron's art (the window drawings). They're scribbled, inky, messy, and just don't seem like the art of someone in a sane state of mind. One of them is of the Thing. There's another if Imbir, who's kind of just used as a mascot sometimes, but who we've also seen at all of the incidents through the series. The third appears to be a dog or wolf of somesort surrounded by more ink (Calypso also said it could be the Guest in his cloak with it's mouth open, and that there appears to be a foot or wing in the top corner) I guess we'll see. But onto why I bring these up.

I think these were made by Nicky and taken to look into by Theo. Again, because of how different they are to Aaron's art. The Thing in the games, as far as I remember at least, and I can't vouch for the books because, well, I haven't read them, is a being made entirely of fear. This played into the nightmare sequences Nicky has in game and yada yada.

Am I saying that the Thing traumatized Nicky? No. However, I think whatever has happened to him has caused him to see something more. Something again, the others can't see. This being (or more likely one of) the reasons why his eyes are so blank and unfocused, like he's trying not to see what "Hunts, no matter where you run," as Nicky says at the end of 6.

I think this idea of focused and unfocused is also why his eyes are so strained and why he clings to his bag. Strained eyes like that where veins become more visible are usually linked to a lack of sleep. Why might he be avoiding sleep? Nightmares. Not simply the idea of them, but what or who is in them. If this is related to the Thing at all, it's likely it's at its strongest in nightmares/dreams when a person is most vulnerable. So staying awake would be a way to at least keep it away at its worst and preserve his sanity slightly. (Potentially why he still has some left in his "focused" moments). However he can't completely avoid it, it's still there even with his eyes open. So he does whatever else he can to avoid it.

- minimal blinking to avoid falling asleep

- not focusing his vision to look at it or really see anything

- using the bag as a way to completely block it out without closing his eyes. You can't see anything when focused (or not focused) on darkness. (Fun fact he even actually smiles when finding his bag again)

But like he says in that same closet room scene with the drawings and my first example of his "focus"

"Locks can't keep it out... it gets in your head."

Even with all his attempts to keep his sanity and safety, the trauma he's receiving from the basement mixed with what role I think the Thing is playing, he's still lost it. He's still broken despite these instances of clarity.

So, I have some thoughts that I'm gonna share with y'all:

You remember this scene where Enzo is talking with Nicky?

Well, this only takes place A FEW HOURS before episode six, but this Nicky is drastically different from ep. 6 Nicky, enough that I assumed that at least a month has passed in between episode 5 and six, but it doesn't. SO WHAT HAPPENED TO NICKY???

Because here Nicky seems to be at least aware of where he is and his general situation, but then in episode 6 Nicky is just gone. He goes from begging to be let out to willingly returning to the basement in the course of literally a few hours. Clearly something happened cause we are seeing two completely different versions of Nicky. I know the guest was probably doing something but shhh, he's not really a character in the show yet.

Anyways, I am absolutely NOT obsessed with this show and it DOES NOT consume all of my thoughts <3
