hey psst c'mere... no a little closer... a little closer- there we go
Loop lips are part of a racist caricature of Black people. Stop drawing Black characters with loop lips. I don't care how they look in canon, it's racist.
okay that's all you can go
#one piece#usopp#goes for other black characters too but this is the one that comes to mind rn.#not gonna get into other shit like 'lightening their skin to make them look prettier teehee'#or 'but they look better with wavy/straight hair!¡!!' or any of the number of other stuff ive seen#bc like. im not even sure folks can handle this one simple thing lmao#many people are great about this but theres still quite a few who are ass#'um! well the creator did it this way and i like him! and he did it on his white characters too!' dont give a shit.#stop drawing racist caricatures. i like op too but im not riding that guy's dick and twisting myaelf in knots trying to justify all his BS#we can agree he's bad at drawing women and he fumbles how he handles queer characters (sometimes. this is mostly referring to momoiro)#but you can't listen to folks who are constantly saying 'hey this is a racist depiction of black people. please dont draw like that'#like???#im gonna keep it 100 with you guys. i love one piece. its got me through some dark times. ive loved it for a long long time#i dont expect the creator to ever give me the time of day#but english fandom? english fandom i can change. and english fandom i can hold to a BARE MINIMUM standard of 'dont be racist'#and yet i still get disappointed. far more often than i should.#ignorance is one thing but the people who DOUBLE DOWN are the worst#thanks for telling me you prioritize your comfort over not being wildly offensive to me and people like me#idfk where i was going with this im just so goddamn tired#if u wanna know more about what im talking about in the post just look up the wiki for minstrel shows & jim crow

i wonder how zeff would've reacted to sanji's bounty poster changing to "only alive" and then later to sanji "vinsmoke" (well known former conquerors/royalty of the north blue)
whether sanji's told zeff about germa or not, zeff would be stressed OUT

YALL this is so fucking stupid funny I can't even put this into words but I'll try
So I know this is very much a Reddit thing in general but still, I thought some places were safe (the ff and ao3 subs are great, but some subs need help. And lots of it)
Okay. So imagine being so terminally online, and so egotistically fragile that you interpret someone saying "I'm annoyed about this thing" as a PERSONAL attack on fun.
Like.
Imagine that.
Imagine being a wholeass adult and being so goddamn butthurt someone has the nerve to voice a dissenting opinion - and not even in a rude way! there were no accusations, no demands, no talking shit, just stating how they feel - you
complain vehemently about their complaining (hello, pot? kettle?)
downvote OP's replies saying they're trying to do exactly what you want them to (petty much?)
and feel the need to reassure others who agree with you "don't let the haters get you down. you're allowed to have fun in this subreddit." (literally no one said they weren't?)
A personal. Attack. On fun.
Remember kids, if you don't contribute to the echo chamber, you're automatically a hater!
"This post is giving off major upper middle class HOA energy" BITCH THAT'S YOU LMAO THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE
And you'll never guess which sub this is in.
Or maybe you can, idk.
it's the Disney Princess sub lmfaoooooooooo

I finished my Kingoh rewatch, among other things,
11 episodes in no one has refer to Rita with female pronouns yet.
I exteremely doubt that Toei would confirm in show canon their gender but so far I see they are delibrately striving to maintain their gender neutral/unkown status. From the first impression of skirt-less suits, to the specific title and now down to the script.
(iirc, i don't recall yuzuki refering to her character with 'she' as well. and that said, japanese grammar helps a lot in omitting pronouns.)
I don't know if Rita's gender would come into focus in a later episode but I doubt it'd be handled with the screentime THSH did. It might just be hazily brushed aside in a line or two to avoid complaints from the PTA. In the best faith, I just hope they don't give Rita a stereotypical makeover episode. They can have a makeover episode (on a fanservice level i'd be the first one to support putting rita/yuzuki through outfits) just reaffirm at the end that it was Rita's choice to present the way they are.
On the other hand, the fact that Morfonia's successor status is brought up hints at a future episode for that transition. At the very least, a flashback episode is guaranteed. Then we might learn if the gender identity is Rita's choice or if the throne demands so?
Summary:
the character: 私 Watashi
tv asahi/news outlets: Kanojo (she)
Uchuusen vol.180 : "gender neutral" - the exact word in katakana
Show (so far): 国王 (King/Sovereign)、裁判長 (Chief Justice - other kings, most frequent)、あの人 (that person - Gira, Morfonia)

I'm not gonna lie, I feel like team Omens group music playlist is filled with themost jarring mood shifts, like it starts with something upbeat and energetic, then immediately fades in the most depressing song known to man, then that fades straight into California girls or something similar. But I might just be projecting.
No you’re so right. It’s 100% the worst playlist possible. I imagine that they all have pretty different music tastes, so if you hit shuffle on it you have no idea what’s gonna come on. This is not helped by Mercury making it his life’s mission to add in as many unfitting songs as he can find.

I know you're not really looking for book recs, but I just love giving them, so are some where a woman reacts to her arranged marriage in a positive or ambivalent way that very much isn't "but marrying a stranger to benefit my family is sooo oppressive, I want to marry for loooove!"
(Pretty much all adult fantasy since I don't really read straight-up historical fiction at this point.)
Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel: a retelling of the Indian epic the Ramayama that focuses on Rama's stepmother, who's often cast in a villainous role. Good, nuanced portrayal of Kaikeyi's feelings about her father arranging a royal marriage for her, plus her relationships with her husband and his other wives and children. Bonus points for no "once I met my husband, I fell madly in love with him after all!"
Elantris by Brandon Sanderson: This depiction of an arranged state marriage isn't super nuanced, but it paints a pretty believable portrait of a princess getting to know her future royal husband by exchanging letters and coming to like him -- even starting to fall in love with him. Too bad that upon arriving in his kingdom for their wedding, she's told that he suddenly died! But did he really? (Note that this book is 20 years old and some of the things in it have not aged super well.)
The Daevabad Trilogy (starts with City of Brass) by S.A. Chakraborty: In 18th century Cairo, a young woman with a mysterious gift for healing doesn't believe in magic -- not until she accidentally summons an ancient djinn warrior, who whisks her off to the secret, magical city of djinn that her ancestors once ruled. This trilogy gets quite dark as it explores themes of prejudice and sectarian conflict, focusing on the struggle to end the exchange of atrocities between ethnic groups that have been in conflict for millennia. At the end of book 1, a cruel mastermind forces the female lead into a political marriage -- so you wouldn't expect it to end up on a list of more positive depictions of arranged marriage. But I think it deserves to be here because of the nuance portrayed in Nahri's relationship with the husband selected for her -- he didn't choose this marriage either, and rather than treating each other as antagonists, they find ways to work together.
This one's not really about a woman; the diplomatic marriage is between two men. But bonus mention because I love it:
A Strange and Stubborn Enudrance by Foz Meadows: A nobleman thinks his intended diplomatic marriage is ruined when he's outed as gay in a horrifyingly traumatic fashion -- but in the nation he's marrying into, unlike in his own, two men can marry, so the foreign envoy offers him a chance to salvage the diplomatic relationship, if not his personal ones, by marrying his intended's brother. Good depiction of an arranged marriage as a political and social partnership, not an oppressive forced romantic relationship. Mind the TW's in the front of the book, though; it gets very dark, very early (within the first chapter).
I'm really tired of the "woman sad about her arranged marriage" trope, especially if that woman is royalty.
I am sure that many women across time were sad about their arranged marriages, but I'm sure a lot of others were excited, ambivalent, or resigned. Again, especially if you were royalty! I am sure if you were born a princess, you were trained from birth that your whole purpose in life was to marry someone important to solidify the power of the person on the throne. And honestly, it's an important job, if it wasn't, they wouldn't have tried so hard to do it.
That woman isn't just marrying another king or prince, she's going to be an ambassador of her country. She's supposed to be there promoting good relations. She isn't just a woman being sold off, she has a job! Also, if she is marrying the reigning monarch (or the heir), she may well end up running the country if the king is off at war or he dies when the heir is really young. That happened a lot throughout history! (or maybe she marries the third son and helps him find his way to the throne. Good for her)
It just feels like a modern sentiment being projected back. In Romeo and Juliet, when Juliet's mother first brings up marrying her to Paris, Juliet's basically cool with it and says she'll try to like him. She would have known this was going to happen because that is what rich women do, they marry into another family so their two families can be buddies. What else would she even be expecting?
It wouldn't bother me so much except that it's all we see! Give me a story about a woman who is like, "Cool, I shall give it my all!" Or she's like rolling up her sleeves and planning how she's going to get the court on her side and rule France, power behind the throne style (these women are mostly portrayed as villains, but who is to say the king would do a better job?). And also, have a little faith in women's fathers? You think men in the past didn't occasionally consider the happiness of their daughters? Not even a little bit?

Since I just checked my ask box for the first time in a hot minute:
Just a note that tumblr doesn't tell me when I have new asks or messages and I rarely check my notifications. Helpful corrections of misinformation/any messages in good faith are appreciated (though it's possible I won't see them until weeks later, sorry), but if something I reblog angers you enough you feel the need to get hostile in my askbox on anon, I reccomend the unfollow button.
I'm also not comfortable posting asks asking for any sort of donations/directing people to your blog for donation purposes, sorry :// I just don't have time to vet asks like that
#feel like I've had more hostile asks than usual in the last year or so#(with the usual number being none and the recent number being more than none)#I'm not sure if it's like (1) person who hatefollowed and now just wants to be nitpicky about everything#or if the culture of the site changed when i wasn't paying attention and people are back to being hostile#my theory is that the fall of twitter means twitter users are coming back to tumblr and bringing their hostility with them#also i can't believe i have to say this AGAIN#but while what i reblog is generally in line with what i believe...#sometimes i reblog stuff bc it's interesting and makes points i haven't heard before#or i like the overall message even tho there's a few pieces I'm iffy about#or it's not how I'd say it or i feel like it's lacking in some nuance but still think the point is worth making#if you see a really consistent take on my blog with consistent framing then yeah safe to assume it's probably reflective of how i feel#but if you have problems with the phrasing or framing of a specific post maybe take that up with the OP??#i can find someone's speech worthy of dissemination without agreeing with every word#I'm not going to take responsibility for other ppl's phrasing esp if it's just the phrasing or framing in one post and not a theme 4 my blog#sometimes i just think things are an interesting conversation or worthy of talking abt even if not everyone is saying things 100% correctly#feel free to come for me for things i actually write. but I'm not gonna take responsibility for other people's phrasing#(AGAIN with the understanding that like. if I were constantly reblogging posts with slurs or something that would be different)#this just in humans are complex and do not agree 1000% with every post they've ever shared online#pls hold me accountable for things i actually say...#a good example of a VALID critique was when i was following a secret terf and i was accidentally reblogging things with terf OPs semi-often#there was concern i was a terf (i am not... just bad at spotting terf dogwhistles) bc there were a few of these like...#not explicitly terfy but like popular with terf posts on my blog#so thanks again to whoever let me know so i could hunt down the secret terf i was following and unfollow#and even tho it's not true that I'm a terf it was a valid concern bc of the consistency#if u think the phrasing or framing in (1) singular post i reblogged is sooooo horrible... pls take it up with the OP#again with obvious exceptions of like. hate speech. slurs. actual alt right talking points. content in the post that is directly harmful#but anons in my inbox have been Big Mad abt like. one line in one post. or one bad piece of framing#or one not quite nuanced enough take. or one framing where not every person in the world was considered#so pls take that shit up with the person who actually wrote the post and stop acting like i personally came to your house#and yelled the words of whatever post at your grandma and then was mean to your dog

I made this in a website literally called photocollage in two minutes but you know
I hate how acknowledging unfairness in the world is seen as "childish". Maybe children are right. I don't think you should be proud of the fact that you've become complacent with the state of your miserable existence and took on this loser "it is what it is" mentality. Things can be better.

My Thoughts on Orion trying to stop D-16 from the murdery stuff.
I think there’s been enough time to think over the writing choice of Orion trying to stop D-16 from killing Sentinel. Time to whack the hornet nest of internet opinions.
Now I think it’s fair to say that plenty of people have pointed out that the autobots do murder several other bots in the film and so Orion’s attempt to stop Dee from killing SP seems hypocritical. And I can certainly see why people are coming to that specific conclusion.
And plenty of us agree the death scene was cathartic.
HOWEVER.
Let’s look at Orion’s current perspective regarding Dee’s state of mind.
Tumblr media
He has been watching his friend go down the path of unapologetic violence fast since they found out the truth. Like, alarmingly fast. And that path is quickly becoming more of a sheer drop off a cliff.
While OP, Elita and Bee were ecstatic about being able to transform, what do we see Dee laugh over?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being able to inflict damage onto another bot.
And we can’t forget the oh-so-woobie-of-continuities Starscream, who Orion had to tell Dee not to kill when the murder canon was activated.
Tumblr media
That isn’t the Dee Orion knew. Orion is watching Dee turn into something he doesn’t know anymore. He’s afraid of losing D-16 to whatever he’s becoming.
Tumblr media
To Orion, keeping Dee from publicly executing Sentinel was an attempt to keep him from spiraling further.
Unfortunately, just having good intentions don’t always cut it. And he really could have said it in a better way.
But to be fair, it had been a long miserable trip for the both of them, so Orion probably wasn't able to think that out 100%.
Another point I want to make is the comparison to B-127/Bee, who had been cutting bots with his knifehands. Granted, I’m pretty sure they were just intended to be Drones/Enforcers, as they resemble Vehicons. Which, in beast wars, were intended as bots who were mass produced and mindless. Which I think Sentinel would have preferred to have as his followers. Literal mindless/sparkless soldiers to follow his every word would probably be easier to handle.
This is Steve Slander I’m so sorry.
Tumblr media
Continuing on.
There are a few points I want to make on B-127’s treatment of the violence. First, to me, Orion didn’t seem too comfortable with how hyped Bee was getting with his new weapons, and did intervene to keep him from cutting down more Drones.
Tumblr media
And more importantly, he stopped trashing the broadcast room when told that the bots there weren’t the enemy.
Bee managed to do some self-control. Which I think is important to keep in mind when comparing him to Dee/Megatron
One more thing to note.
Something that I have said before in an earlier post after my initial viewing of the movie.
It wasn’t the violence itself that was the ultimate act of betrayal in the end though.
It was picking violence over saving someone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh it hurts
Orion jumped in the cannon’s way. Probably thinking that seeing him would give Dee enough reason to stop. But there wasn’t any pause until after the trigger was pulled. @everestentertainments pointed this out in their own post
Tumblr media Tumblr media
D-16 does catch the injured Orion. He could have tried to save him, even if it was futile.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But he decided to let him fall instead.
Thus finally transforming into Megatron.
Tumblr media
Killing Sentinel wasn’t the final step to the transformation and his fall from grace. It was the first act as purely Megatron.
And don’t forget that after taking the cog, Meg’s next act is to burn everything down, taking no regard for anyone who might get caught in the crossfire. Which is a yikes.
They probably could have made those points more obvious or could have been handled better somehow, but those are my thoughts.
