Sometimes a person follows me on Letterboxd (a movie tracking and reviewing site/app) and I'm absolutely baffled by why they would do so.

Here's a list of some of the things that made me go O.o

Movies they didn't like that I really really love (4.5+/5 stars): Knives Out, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse, Deadpool, Birds of Prey, Midsommer, THE Suicide Squad, Friday the 13th,

Movies that they're meh about that I love tremendously (4.5+/5 stars): Pearl, Scream, Batman Returns.

It doesn't even look like they watch shitty horror.

I rate movies by how much I enjoy them which means a lot of shitty horror movies get 3 stars. In fact, of the last 10 movies I logged and rated, only one 1 movie got below 3 stars. 5 of them are shitty horror movies. And two of them are just outright weird (The Lighthouse and The Timekeepers of Eternity).

Like, I just don't get it. Why are you here, following me? What of my last 10 ratings made you decide to follow me when we have such different tastes in movies? I desperately want to know the answer to these questions.

my brother's short film COFFEE & YELLOW ROSES was accepted to the seattle film festival! all of the films in the festival are available to stream for the cost of one ticket ($15) through june 13th. if you feel so inclined, please watch his film and rate it highly at the end!

NO NO NO i WONT do it!!! i won't consume a billion other pieces of separate media for this movie to make sense!!!! if it's meant to be a standalone piece of media i SHOULDN'T have to do research. if it's a book to movie adaptation i SHOULDN'T have to read the book to know wtf is going on in the movie. i SHOULDN'T have to watch this new character's spinoff show to know wtf their deal is in THIS show. so TIRED of media being reliant on other forms of media to do decent story telling!!!!!!!

I wish I knew more about the root of music videos it feels like they were a diy for fun “oh hey what’s this new medium we saw our friends do this” kind of thing until it became a compulsory industry standard but in the last decade or so we’ve seen artists take that power back and care a lot about the medium outside of obligation and treat it as a true extension of their artistry and I just think that’s so damn great

#I only hope things have changed as drastically for the film industry but I know it hasn't #mv directors though film directors do make mvs now still aren't seen as being as skilled or as important as they are which is unfortunate #tbh imo a lot of the time it takes even more skill & a clearer vision to make something coherent (&linked to another piece of art)#in 4-5 mins vs a sprawling 2.5 hours unattached to anything else #anyway yes this is about #paramore #and #the news #lmao but like YOO.#and other mvs ofc but I just watched that one and wheww #music video #filmmaking #film
