The Untamed - Episode 19
Throughout the night, he [Jiang Cheng] had somehow managed to sleep a couple of times. The first reason was that, having been too tired from crying himself weak, he couldn't help from passing out. The second reason was that he still had the hope that this might be a nightmare. He couldn't wait to wake up after some rest and open his eyes to find himself lying inside of his room back in Lotus Pier. His father would be wiping his sword in the main hall. His mother would be angry again and complaining, scolding Wei Wuxian who winked in a funny way. His sister would be in the kitchen, thinking as hard as she could about what to make today. His shidi would be refusing to do their morning lessons properly and jumping around.
The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Chapter 59, Poisons- Part Four
#This crappy gifset is born to show that the 'look how different cql!jc is from mean novel!jc' advertisement is exaggerated lol#look there! jc always yearns for his family! Like. While cql!jc dreams of his family in a 'better light'#Novel!jc dreams of his real crappy family lol. which is understandable when you think that#Novel!jc is a bit sadder lmao. he probably got hugged 5 times by his father while cql!jc at least seven times#The fact is that novel!jc doesn't have a lot of scenes in particular in the present but he is mentioned a lot in an unflattering way#because novel!wwx has jc brainrot#but he's bitter and resentful so his thoughts are quite mean lol#I've read so many 'I don't want to read the novel because I fear I won't like jc'#My point is that approaching the novel you shouldn't worry about jc lol#jiang cheng#*mgifs#Uh. Tbc. Both dreams are set after lotus pier's fall#Also. Another thing to understand novel!jc is to remember that he grows up with novel!wwx who doesn't like when people - in particular men-#cry in front of him#This is not to say there aren't differences obv. But tbh the propaganda is exaggerated#Anyway. In every canon jc is not having a good day

What it is about kind male video game companions that male gamers absolutely HATE?
I've seen it happen with Dragon Age's Alistair, Mass Effect's Kaidan, and even lowkey KOTOR's Carth Onasi (emphasis on kind, not necessarily nice, cause dude had a bit of an attitude in the beginnning). Now I'm seeing it with Gale of Waterdeep from Baldur's Gate 3.
Men hate him! Admittedly, many women seem to also hate Gale (Though from what I'm observing, it seems to be because his romance is bugged in a way that doesn't recognize when you've rejected him, so to many it comes off as not taking no for an answer -- but that's the fault of the game, not the character). The other reason I'm seeing from women is that he supposedly doesn't respect boundaries, citing his relationship with Mystra, but... were yall listening to him at all?
1. This goddess took interest in him as a *child* prodigy, became his mentor, and then his lover??? That's sus as hell.
2. It's not like he and Mystra had personal boundaries set specifically for their relationship, and he decided to cross them, it was that Mystra has general magical limitations for magic users in general, and Gale thought he would be an exception because she treated him as special, and because his reasons for pushing his magical limitations were to restore a part of her she'd lost. I've also seen people say he downplays that as a simple mistake made in his youth, but from the actual conversation with him, it's very clear he regrets that so?? I don't get it. (maybe I'm misremembering or missing more of the story, I'm only at the beginning of Act 2)
But this post is a reaction-rant to seeing too many male creators on tiktok hate on Gale so badly it's becoming obnoxious. And their reasons are so weak, yet fuel hatred so strong. They just find him so annoying, and I guess to each their own, but I don't get why, and I don't get why men always seem to find those kinds of emotionally available, kind for the sake of being kind, male characters annoying.
#baldur's gate 3#gale of waterdeep#alistair theirin#dragon age#kaidan alenko#mass effect#carth onasi#kotor#men also hated on anders because of accidental gay romance which is telling but I don't think that's the reason for disliking gale#the dude on tiktok was listing gale's 'crimes' as reasons for his beef with him#and apparently gale needing 3 subpar enchanted items from him was just too much#and survival wasn't a good enough reason to take them#....did you miss the part about the nuke in his chest bro. if he doesn't survive neither does the storm coast buddy#my post#maybe i shouldn't had made this post. I haven't even triggered his romance yet and I don't want spoilers#bg3 spoilers#FUCK i just realized i said storm coast instead of sword coast. dragon age brainrot never goes away

I’m thinking again about Astarions sexuality and how I've seen some people (to be fair, just a few) talk about it. Mainly, people pointing out his flamboyant behavior, and that us as players are learning more about his past male lovers than female ones and basically all these things for some people pointing to him being gay or at least not interested in women in the same way he is in men. And him only being a romance option regardless of gender, because, well, all companions are and he is therefore just "playersexual", only showing interest in female player characters because he has to, because of the game mechanics.
I think what really rubs me the wrong way about this topic is that it echoes the kind of things bi/pan people (speaking as a bisexual woman myself) find themselves dealing with irl. Whether through some form of internalized biphobia or from the outside through other people's comments. Of course this is about a fictional character so it’s not like he has any feelings that could be hurt. But when i see people tallying up how often he mentions men vs. how often he mentions women it really reminds me of a way of thinking I sometimes fall into in regards to my own sexuality. This is definitely just an internalized response and not something I actually believe when I truly think about it for a second, but I know these patterns of thought very well. Of observing my own behavior. How often do I find which gender attractive? Am I attracted "enough" to women? Do I talk about men's attractiveness too often? Is it the other way around? Am I only saying this woman is attractive to prove something to myself? I literally have a girlfriend and my attitude towards mine or other's sexual orientation is generally a huge big "whatever, I don't care". And I still have a passing thought like that from time to time.
So seeing people talk about a fictional character in this way really sends home how many people (whether consciously or unconsciously) see attraction as some sort of equation, you can solve, where in the end you get a result of either gay or straight.
#bg3#baldurs gate 3#baldur's gate 3#astarion#this has been sitting in my drafts for a few days but i thought why not just post it. its been on my mind.#i saw someone in the notes under a post about astarion literally counting off how often he mentions men vs women#and asking for proof of where he shows he is in fact attracted to women.#like... do you see what you're doing here??#aaaand another thing since people love bringing up his flamboyancy.... he is obviously playing that up a lot#because you know... that whole 'i have to seduce people so i am safe' thing#not saying that thats not also the real him but breaking it down to flamboyant=gay makes even less sense in the context.#its not that i think people shouldn't headcanon him as gay or asexual or whatever#i think thats great too. seeing different people's readings of the character.#just.... leave out the bi-/panphobia ffs. people dont have to show proof that they are in fact bi/pan.

i will always shout praises of bi4bi but given recent discourse I feel the need to say that I love bi4het too! I just love bisexuality in general in its many forms, and anyone who only likes it when it's 'queer enough' for them is biphobic. Bisexuals should be able to bring their LaMe CiShEt BoYfRiEnD to pride without being made to feel like spectators and outsiders to their own event.
#3 am queer discourse take <3#anyways hot take number two. cishets do belong at pride. everyone who wants to celebrate queerness should be welcomed at pride#if a completely cishet business major fratboy wants to come to pride and vibe with us then he should be welcomed!#not even like. oh he has a queer sibling. no. if he's just a cishet dude who wants to spend his saturday at a parade then hell yeah#like completely ignoring that you have no way to tell he's definitively those things. it shouldn't matter regardless imo#pride is not a secretive club you need to be let into. it's a feeling and a celebration and a statement and a state of being#and whatever you want it to be#burying my other related hot take under the tags readmore ksdjksdjksdj#idk. i'm just tired of a lot of the things people seem to think about bisexuality's validity relating to bi women specifically#this is frustration with the gatekeepy and straight-passing discourse of it all#I'm tired of people being expected to act and to preform and to BE queer enough for others' opinions.#am I still welcome if I haven't been with a woman in a few years? if I dress boring? if I like m/f? if I don't listen to chappell roan?#joking on that last one but like. idk. never straight enough for the straights but never gay enough for the gays#constantly some mercurial in-between that offers no comfortable easy group to put us in.#what do i have to do to not be judged as a filthy hettie? are my doc martens enough for you yet?#like oh sorry let me cuff my jeans and have a bob and wear a button up over a cami and wear etsy earrings. am I visually bi enough yet?#let me apologize for the cardinal sin of liking men too. let me wash my hands of any time a cishet man has held them.#if it was a bisexual man then just hand sanitizer is fine right? where do you draw the line on my queerness?#let me preform for you in a way that makes me queer enough.#anyways. sarcasm aside. I think I've made my distaste for this whole affair evident#if you don't want cishets at pride then what happens to those you incorrectly deem as cishet? do I need to prove myself to you?#am I passing as straight? am I passing as gay? am I enough for onlookers?#is it not enough to just show up at pride and celebrate? anyone and everyone who wants to?

i'm very normal abt the fact that they even use the same excuse for their lack of interest!!
#this is my argument re: Esen's sexuality#i don't think he was interested in women at all actually#he was always complaining so much about having to visit his wives for sex. a very heterosexual thing to say#(i don't assume that all men have limitless libido but if he really was attracted to his wives shouldn't he be a bit happier about it?)#and apparently he didn't like the courtesans either!#the radiant emperor#she who became the sun#he who drowned the world#esen temur#general ouyang

i just saw someone call ffxiii overrated like? what?? it's literally one of the most hated games in the franchise wym "overrated" 😭
#they've gotta be butthurt it got 3 games#also saw someone whine about how it shouldn't get a remaster bc ''other ff games deserve a chance'' and i was baffled#xiii and xi are the only mainline ff games that aren't on modern consoles what are you talking about!!!!!!!#i shouldn't be reading random men's comments on ffxiii omg it just makes me peeved lmao#final fantasy xiii#i gotta ramble real quick abt how we don't have a remaster yet actually#it bugs me when people act as if it's because ffxiii was some huge embarrassment for square and that they want to bury it#when it actually sold super well#and lightning became one of the most iconic protags in the whole franchise#not to mention that xiii got TWO SEQUELS that ALSO sold well#AND the combat system has influenced modern ff titles#square doesn't hate xiii omfg get real#but that does make it even more absurd that it doesn't have a remaster yet#some people think it doesn't need one since it still looks so damn good#but it's not really about that lol it's about accessibility and letting it reach a new audience (the pc port is too broken seriously)#something tells me it's because the crystal tools engine was so much of a pain to work with but idk they haven't really explained anything#either way it just annoys me when people claim xiii doesn't deserve a remaster bc ''no one likes it'' when that really isn't true#and calling it overrated is beyond insane

I really should figured out I was gay sooner because frankly when I have a new female friend or acquaintance who I find stunning and very beautiful, 90% of the time when I see her boyfriend/husband my initial reaction is ☹️🫥
#so many beautiful women and so many mid men.#queen you're gorgeous I hope he treats you nicely#idk I shouldn't be mean or rude about these guys because they're usually very nice it's just funny to me...#how I went like 18 years just thinking all women were more beautiful than all men and there was just an inherent attractiveness imbalance#lol. lmao. okay small idiot enjoy getting walloped over the head by a very obvious realization in your early 20s#this brought to you by: my bella-swan-lookin' coworker & I found each other on insta bc I'm leaving. she's stunning. her husband is. there.

So the Seraphim only take orders from certain people they've been programmed to follow (namely the Vegapunks and the Gorosei), but also they do take orders from individuals who possess an authority chip. Between that and the knowledge that the Seraphim are cyborgs, it makes me wonder...
Like, do they have somekinda control chip installed somewhere in their bodies (brain, spine?) that acts as the thing that forces them to follow orders and not act (too much) on their own will? 'Cause would the existence of an authority chip, a thing that essentially "sends out orders", not also imply the existence of something that recieves the order (like other than their brain) and forcibly puts it into motion? Something similar to whatever visual scanner+database combo Vegapunk installed into Kuma that allowed him to instantly recognize certain people and whether or not they were enemies or allies to him (at least as far as the WG thinks)
'Cause if so, like. I wonder. Could you remove that chip and basically free the Seraphim from being just borderline-mindless flesh robots?
In that scenario... what would they become?
Because, like, we don't know how much Free Will the Seraphim even have, how developed their minds are? Are/would they be fully functional human beings (if immature because they're still kids) who have just had half their mind essentially turned off so they don't think about anything else except following orders? If you freed them from the WG's control would they be able to live and function freely just like Stussy's clone can? But when being under that kind of control is all they've ever known, would they know how to function? Like what do you do, where do you go, who do you become? Who are you to begin with, does that even matter? What about your relation to the person you were cloned from, what does that mean? Are you doomed (🐊🦩🦇) or expected (🦈🐻🐍🦅) to become just like the person you were cloned from? Do you even want that? What will having that kind of freedom to do and become whatever you want even mean to someone who has never known what it means to even want something for themselves?
(But also, depending on who you were cloned from, would people even trust you enough to allow you go free and live your own life, or would you be deemed a threat by simply existing because you are the clone of a horrible, heinous person?) (Of course, we know existing is not a crime, and no one is born into this world a criminal. But we also know the World of One Piece does not always think this kindly)
#Moon posting#OP Meta#Also how likely would it be for S-Croc to have removed his control chip on his own because he didn't want to take orders anymore#Like I doubt he'd try Brain Surgery on himself so it'd have to be like. Relatively accessible to him. Surely. Like somewhere on his spine#Probably not on the outside though ala Raimi Doc Ock. Like it'd still probably inside the flesh#I'm just saying if there was any particular Seraphim who'd seem The Most Likely to break free from the WG's control#I'm sorry if I'm incoherent I think I caught a cold lmao#Like I'm thinking about poor S-Bear and like. On one hand I'd love it if he could get along with Bonney and stuff#But also like S-Bear is not Kuma. He shouldn't even be considdered Bonney's (step) brother like they don't have to be family or anything#So imagine if people's expectations of what S-Bear should be like based on Kuma were projected onto the poor angel#Or the expectations of becoming Honorable Powerful Men was forced onto S-Hawk and S-Shark while knowing they don't compare to the OGs#Because they're ''just clones''. So they can only ever exist in the shadows of their DNA donors#Or the Naughty Boy Gang being doomed to become horrible nasty people who will massacre and oppress innocents for their own gains#I'm just. The Seraphim are so INTERESTING. I'm so curious about them

I totally agree with the general consensus that Ringo provided a lot of emotional support and coolheadedness to the other beatles to the point where they'd have probably killed each other without him but I do also wonder sometimes how much of that is being supernaturally patient and easygoing and how much of it is Ringo just having a tumultuous and isolated childhood where he was never taught to recognize and assert his own emotional needs so he became a blank slate on which others could process their emotions
(And tbh I also wonder how an inability to access or assert his feelings may have contributed to his tendency to process pain by numbing himself and the pretty shitty way he treated women)
#see also: george falling in love with his wife and paul routinely telling him he was easily replaceable#and yet ringo has nothing but warmth for either of these men#and of course I'm not saying we shouldn't appreciate how much patience and kindness that takes!#but also i guess it takes a certain lack of assertiveness or the ability to see/value your own emotions#and that's also something interesting to think about#speaking from experience here a lot of alcoholics want to be numb more than they want to be alive#and if ringo couldnt access his emotions it makes sense his only recourse would be to erase them#but i think for him it comes from isolation at a young age and a lack of emotional support#you need your caregivers to teach you what 'sad' is so you can then teach yourself what to do about it#or you may start to cope with that constant feeling of unease and dissatisfaction (that you can never quite grasp) in destructive ways#also his mom started getting him falling down drunk when he was not even twelve years old so tbh the alcoholism was probably inevitable#anyways all this is just to say that the fact that he could absorb pretty much infinite distress CAN definitely be construed as a virtue#but tbh it might also be symptomatic of some painful shit that he needed/deserved help with#ringo starr#longer rambles

idk what woman or similarly gendered nonbinary person needs to hear this, but if you feel actual distress, frustration, discomfort, etc. at the thought of being attracted to men, or being with men in a sexual or romantic context--if you genuinely feel this way and you hide it behind "haha sucks that i like men lol" jokes--you honestly should consider lesbianism.
#dichromaticdyke.exe#because i've seen some posts going around about how people shouldn't feel ashamed to like men or anything and i agree#especially wrt men or similarly gendered nonbinary people--mlm or nblm attraction is good and should be celebrated#but like. if you make those kinds of “gross i like men haha” jokes a LOT as a woman or similarly gendered nonbinary person#you should investigate why#because you might be a lesbian#and if you're not! that's totally fine. but you as a woman or similarly gendered nonbinary person should not feel ashamed to like men#that's like the status quo lol so if there's genuine negative feelings there then there might be a reason#and i've seen a lot of posts lately talking about how having shame towards like men is radfem thinking and i disagree#i think that could be a reason why people feel that way but it could also be (pause for dramatic effect)#compulsory heterosexuality and internalized lesbophobia#some people genuinely don't like men please remember that#anyway reblogs are available on this post. for now. but the second i get bad faith actors in the notes i'm turning them off.#be normal please

I think if we are to do marginalized communities good, it'll help to remember that often, marginalized people who seem to be "forgotten about" in the mind of bigots aren't being treated well by them either - so many marginalized people are forcibly erased and made invisible. That is not a neutral action; it is a form of violence. Not all violence will present itself in the extreme of facing physical violence. The core of any violence against marginalized peoples will often come from a similar level of hatred for them. That's why it's so important to combat all violence, even the forms of violence you don't perceive "as harmful" as other forms.
#politics#like for example in some spaces people think that because transphobes tend to 'forget' about trans men* that means we face no violence...#...when we are often forcibly erased and the other forms of violence we face tends to also be erased - like...#...seeing people who go 'lel trans men are going to be forced in women's bathrooms if we go by ASAB' as if...#...we don't face violence for using said bathrooms. that's what i mean by the violence is still there but it's made invisible#and that's a common tactic i think. because if you MAKE people invisible then it's easier to dehumanize them and pretend they don't EXIST#it's just weird when people see that and don't perceive it as violence because it doesn't 'look that bad'#not all violence is fire and brimstone levels of brutality and indeed most violence done unto marginalized people won't look that way#to present violence as ONLY being the extremes we are permitting other forms of violence to exist and be carried out onto people#this ISN'T to say that extreme forms of violence are not atrocities and that they shouldn't be recognized for being brutal but that...#...we cannot narrow our view of violence so much that we still permit it so long as it isn't 'the most extreme'#just like physical abuse is not the only form of abuse one can face - it is analogous in this situation to recognize other violences#i hope this makes sense - i'm writing this with a time crunch and it's a bad habit

Yo, friendo What's the best way to consume these funny doomed men I keep seeing?
( Didn't mean it literality, but I can't help but think that the answer is with spice )
depends on which ones!! there are two series I've been posting about a lot, both by the same author: SVSSS and MDZS!
Scum Villain's Self-Saving System/SVSSS is a book series, and you can read it physically (which I did through my local library for the first two books) or online on the Internet Archive or Anna's Archive (which I did for the last two books when I got too impatient to wait on my holds). It also has a ten episode long donghua called Scumbag System that covers most of the first book and it's terrible (affectionate). You can find that one on youtube or most anime pirating sites. In short summary, SVSSS is about a terminally online dude getting isekai'd into the villain of a webnovel he absolutely hates, and in his attempt to avoid the villain's horrible death he sends the story completely off the rails. It's unhinged, hilarious, and everyone in the series is a complete freak <3 It's only four books long (three of which are the main plot and the fourth is extras)
MDZS/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is also a book series by the same author! Similarly, you can check your public library or the Internet Archive and Anna's Archive. It also has a donghua (which I haven't watched) and a wildly successful live action drama called The Untamed (which is how I initially got into the series!). The Untamed is available on Netflix and Youtube and probably other places. It does make some significant changes due to censorship reasons and it is extremely cheesy, but I enjoy it. If you want more classical tragedy, I'd say start with The Untamed, and if you want more gay necromancy shenanigans, I'd say start with the books! In short summary, it's about the life and death and second life of Wei Wuxian as he goes from war hero to widely reviled necromancer, and it's quite fun. The book series is five books long, and The Untamed is 50 episodes long. I have a character guide for that one if you need it because the names do get confusing!
#asks#anonymous#also i love your note about consuming them literally sldkjfkdlsjf#with spice tracks#or perhaps in some kind of hearty soup#i shouldn't be answering this on the lab computer but i was feeling anxious and this ask made me smile#but yeah please check out these funny doomed men !!#both series are very fun#i think svsss is my current favorite bc it is just SO unhinged#no one is doing it like the freaks in that series#but the characters of mdzs still frequently make me experience agonies#i am never immune to tragic siblings and OH BABY THE SIBLINGS IN THAT ONE#both series have a healthy mix of comedy and tragedy#i would say the balance it tipped more towards tragedy for mdzs and more towards comedy for svsss#but they contain both#though when i say mdzs involves tragedy i should specify it does have a happy ending!#just uh. a pretty unhappy middle. you'll see#both series are also explicitly gay#well they had to censor the untamed but the yearning is still extremely obvious#but yeah they're both BL series#this is getting long. if you check either of them out please update me!!!

Lame people annoyed by the galadriel-gets-every-boy jokes as if we weren't loving and supporting her (principally when she gets to kick sauron balls because of it) and you weren't just jealous.
