#I NEED MISAKO LORE

So recently I started a new, ninjago themed playthrough of my beloved Cult of the Lamb and it has led to some very funny things
Kai got that quest line thing where you make another follower eat poop 2 times then imprison them then kill them and it was targeted at Garmadon. Cannon.
They are friends :D
My wife <333 (she fits as Leshy so well!)
Yea that fits
Green cousins got drunk then Wu died of old age and they immediately started fighting. I broke them up and they fought again. Repeat 2 more times. This has got to be the most cannon thing that has happened
On one of my runs I ended up with the ax and a x2 attack speed buff and it was so overpowered cause I could hit hard as fast as I could click. The next run I ended up with 7 demons. This game is great!
Don't have pictures of it but I have begun breeding followers. Zane and Pixal made Minipix and then I bred Cole and Jay (I was NOT intending to keep the egg I just needed some yolks and they were compatible) but then they gave me my first golden egg so i made Joel the usher robot from the nightmare love triangle in season 3. Once I get a Geo I will be making the finder childeren :D also I had to wait a while to get Lloyd because I specifically wanted him to be the child of Garmadon and Misako and it took me forever to unlock the mating tent.
And finally: the event my followers (the ones who survived) my followers will forever remember as the great abaabandonment. I'm not actually sure what happened but i think the game might have somehow remained unpaused while I was eating dinner and looking at bedframes. I didn't notice when I got back until I got a notification that The Overlord (what I renamed The One Who Waits aka a follower who is supposed to be IMMORTAL) died. At that point I fucking booked it back and returned to find an absolute disaster
A total of 15 followers died. The only ones who survived were Wu and Garm, the ninja and Morro (aka the important ones). Wu, despite being a disciple, was dissenting. 2 followers had already dissented enough that they ran away and I got a notification that if I didn't fix things FAST then half of my remaining followers would also leave. There were so many corpses. I still haven't recovered. I am so sorry my babies.
I have a spreadsheet of all my followers and all the ninjago characters I plan to make into followers. Top half is good guys, bottom half is bad guys, green is alive and red is dead.
I'm waiting to do the serpentine until after I unlock the snake follower form but in order to do that I have to find all the lore and I have found none of it despite thoroughly beating the game ;-;
Anyway I'm having fun. I'll update with any future shenanigans.

Ok how do u explain Lloyds hair color. Bc I'm pretty sure blonde hair isn't a dominant gene, and both of Lloyds parents have brown hair. Did he bleach it??? How??? Where would he get those resources he's like 8 in S1 and also homeless. Actually on that note what color do u think the FSM's hair was. Because ONE of the siblings has a different one than him. I've always thought the FSM's hair was blonde, bc when it greys out it's so pale, and also because angst in the way of Garmadon being different from his family from the start, but like. How would Garm have gotten the brown hair. Do they have a mom or did the FSM perform mitosis???? AND ALSO Garmadon's hair whites out and doesn't grey out despite him being a brunette (and later having black hair but that's bc of the Venom Influence) so. What's up with that. Also why does Wu's hair go white so early we know he was born with blonde hair. And why doesn't it apply to Lloyd too. What's happening. Where am I.
Right off the bat, lets dispel a common genetics misconception. Yes, its true that when a dominant and recessive gene get paired up, the dominant gene will be presented. You're also correct that blonde is recessive and brown is dominant. However! Like all things in biology, its a bit more complicated than that.
To simplify a surprisingly complicated science to the best of my ability, think of it like this. Although you will typically present based on whatever is the most dominant genes you inherited, you are still a carrier of sorts for the recessive genes. So Garmadon has brown hair, but his father and brother are both blonde, which means he has the potential to be a carrier for the blonde gene.
Then there's Misako, who is also a brunette. We don't know what her parents looked like, but lets say one of them was blonde. Even if she presents as brunette, she could still carry the recessive blonde gene.
When both parents are carriers for the same recessive gene, there's generally gonna be a 1 in 4 chance of their child presenting recessive rather than dominant. So, if we assume one of Misako's ancestors was blonde, then Lloyd being blonde is entirely likely.
This is a depressingly oversimplified summary of the situation, but I'm too lazy to get into the nitty grittys. Feel free to look up 'punnett squares' if you wanna learn more!
You do present a fascinating question, though: where did Garmadon get his brown hair?
Scientifically, the only explanation I can think of would be if Wu and Garm had a birth-mother of some kind. But i personally don't like that explanation because it just makes canon way more complicated than it needs to be. Tangentially, I'm also an "FSM Asexually Reproduced" truther all the way. I refuse to consider the possibility of the FSM having procreated with another person. That man either laid an egg or did some kinda mitosis shenanigan and you absolutely cannot convince me otherwise.
Luckily, we have the luxury of considering nonscientific alternatives.
To understand a more magic- and lore-based approach to the question of the hair colors present int his family, let's first take a look at the family tree:
FSM - blonde (as far as we can guess, at least). Half-dragon, half-oni. Also has godly powers of Creation and Destruction.
Garmadon - brunette. Has inherited the powers of Destruction.
Wu - blonde. Has inherited powers of Creation.
Lloyd - blonde. Has inherited a power very similar to the FSM, in that it's Creation-adjacent (listen, if you have a better way to describe Green fucking Energy, then by all means correct me).
Do you see where I'm going with this? Within the context of the FSM and his bloodline, it would not be entirely unreasonable to assume that blonde hair is in some way affiliated with the draconic half of their bloodline, whereas brown hair is more so affiliated with the oni half of their bloodline. So an individual's hair color may not necessarily be determined solely by standard genetics like a normal human would, but rather by which part of their bloodline they take after more strongly.
In this interpretation, Lloyd being blonde can be seen as a visual shorthand to represent how he has taken more so after his uncle/grandfather in terms of powerset and moral alignment.
Personally, I think both of these explanations are equally valid. That being said, it should be noted that a lot of this discussion operates on the assumption that Ninjagian genetics work in any way similar to ours. For all we know, blonde could be the in-universe dominant trait and brown could be recessive. The possibilities are endless.
I mean, c'mon. It's a fantasy story where the world was created by spinning around really fast. Lloyd canonically has shapeshifting powers, for crying out loud. I feel like him being blonde is completely within the realm of possibility, even without the scientific explanation. I feel like holding this series to any standard of scientific fidelity is just downright silly.
Anyway, thanks for the ask! Hope those answers were to your liking <3

What I wish each season dived more into cause I really think Tournament of Elements didn’t do Kai well:
-Pilots: Fine. They’re pilots it’s meant to be a test.
-Rise of the Serpentine: The team training and actually becoming better Ninja, I mean it’s expressed but not shown that well.
-Legacy of the Green Ninja: Lloyd not only training but having deal with the fear of fighting his father and losing his childhood, I mean bros life was flipped all over the place by the prophecy.
-Rebooted: Just Zane. Lloyd took up a lot of the season sadly, I still like it but it doesn’t feel like a Zane season.
-Tournament of Elements: Kai finally letting go fully of not being the green Ninja.
-Possession: The ninja having to fight without their elemental powers for once, relearning a little of their old skills
-Skybound: Honestly it’s already great for Jay, I just wish we got to see more of his fear of losing Nya, the girl he liked who didn’t see him as a junkyard boy.
-Hands of Time: Kai and Nya as brother and sister. Like we don’t see much of their dynamic post S1 after she revealed herself as SamX.
-Sons of Garmadon: Lloyd missing his father, and more with Harumi.
-Hunted: Honestly it’s already great with characters and plot, I just wish we got to see more despair with everyone being separated and believing they’d never see each other again.
-March of the Oni: Just explanations, where did the Oni come from, why did they leave the first realm, why were they corrupting the other realms???
-SotFS Part 1: Just more the actual element of fire, Kai lost it for the entire part so I don’t see how it’s a season focused on the element.
-SotFS Part 2; More showcasing of Zane’s Ice abilities than just him sitting in a chair, I wanna see something like the fight with Asphera in the garage.
-Prime Empire: Just anything on lightning. Each WildBrain season was meant to focus on an element and we got nothing on lightning!
-Master of the Mountain: I really think the Spinjitzu Burst is the only thing I’d wanna see more on. It was already pretty Earth focused.
-The Island: Despite having no main element showcased I think it would’ve been cool to see Wu or Misako being the protagonists. They could easily flesh out the lore of Ninjagos prehistory which is the main theme of the special.
-Seabound: Just Nya and her mom. I know it already had some good character moments but I feel like it gets resolved too quickly.
-Crystalized: I just seriously need an explanation on the crystals. I mean I really like how the Season was a compilation of plot points from earlier seasons like a sendoff to Tommy. But please what are those crystals??? Also more Harumi motivations and why she likes Lloyd, it’s fun connecting the dots but it’s more fun with a canon reason yk.
-Dragons Rising S1: Lloyd’s despair that he definitely faced in the few years since the merge. He deserves a depression cat or two.

im not caught up on ninjago lore but is garmadon in dragon's rising?? just chilling somewhere, post-harumi resurrection, post-main series oni finale, post-merge, etc etc. What is he doing???? what about him and vinny the cameraman? is misako somewhere doing something??? have they formed a throuple yet?? i need to know.
it's super funny to me that, since i haven't seen garmadon die (again), he could just be casually somewhere existing. his soul-searching trips got weird with that dimension-crash and now he's navigating a very different world but he's not going to try and track down his son, wife, or brother about it- he'll just deal. one day he'll run into lloyd, whose with arin and sora and everyone, and he's just like "yeah, it's me, the (ex) Evil Guy. what's up?"
even funnier, he runs into jay or some evil group who are like "we heard of your past, wanna join us?" and he's like "why is the blue ninja hanging out with- is he- are you undercover? what's going on?"

I never talked about my interpretation of Misako but she was so cool and basically a completely different character.
I wanted her debut to be shocking when I got to it in my fan comic, but that might be a long time until then, soooo...
information about her under the cut...
Appearance: She is 6 and a half feet tall with a revealing outfit, chi-powered nexo armor on her arms and legs, scars, a shield, a gun, and sun glasses. Backstory: She is 600 years old and first became fascinated with researching realm travel so she could meet with Garmadon in the Underworld. One day, she meant to go on a week long inter-realm adventure, leaving Lloyd at home alone (neglectful to begin with) but ended up getting lost across the realms, so her adventure lasted 6 years. She spent the most time in Chima and Nexo (Nexo Knights). She has a small bit of chi that powers her equipment that she got in Nexo*. She befriended the Chima tribes and she worked with the Nexo Knights to save Knighton. *In my interpretation, the organisms of Nexo are a mix of organic material and robotic. They are like natural cyborgs, so their armor is powered by strong organic electric currents they naturally produce. Misako is a human, so she has to use an alternative power source. (Nexo rewrite lore was made in collaboration with @transhitman) Personality: She'd be one of the most ridiculous characters. She is extremely chill and apathetic, played mostly for comedy, but played horrifyingly seriously when it comes to Lloyd. She is so old and so focused on research that she is detached from emotions. She somehow completely fails to understand why Lloyd is so hurt over NOT HAVING A PARENT ("its just five years. and you turned out fine."). She also always wants things her own way, and is completely willing to kill someone if they inconvenience her (played for jokes). She is an okay person overall, just oblivious and unpredictable.
Role in the plot: She would show up from a realm portal mid battle with the Stone Army to help the ninja, rather than showing up before the action to give the initial lore dump. She is mostly a comic relief character, and helps the Ninja when they need knowledge about the realms. She is completely unmoved by any of Lloyd's attempts to bond with her or get an apology from her. She loves Garmadon for being a baddie. Wu flirts with her post Garmadon's death, and she is completely apathetic to this, slightly inconvenienced, considering killing him.
Abilities: She is one of the most combatively-skilled characters on the ninja's side. She uses her bare hands and spinjitzu at close range, and her rifle at long range. The people of Ninjago haven't invented guns yet, and are very surprised. She can absorb energy (including elemental) to power her armor and rifle. Her chi power source allows her to gain superhuman capabilities momentarily, but she doesn't like to use it since it will eventually run dry. She is also extremely wise but is even worse at explaining things than Wu is, out of apathy.

Ninjago if the Overlord didn’t exist
My favorite pastime is overthinking random ninjago lore, so here we go to remove one character and watch the entire series fall apart!!
If the Overlord doesn’t exist then neither does the Great Devourer, thus Garmadon isn’t evil
This means Wu has no need to hide the Golden Weapons pre-series or to assemble the og ninja considering no one’s trying to steal them
Also if Garmadon wasn’t evil then he wouldn’t have gone to Chen, intercepted Wu’s love letter, and eventually married Misako, so Lloyd doesn’t exist
Season two as a whole doesn’t happen
Neither does season three
Chen still exists tho. Presumably the serpentine wars would still occur as they did more or less as they did in canon
However, since the ninja have had no reason to be brought together, they meet for the first time during the tournament of elements (assuming they all unlock their true potentials on their own at some point prior to this)
Chen’s plan doesn’t work because Lloyd didn’t exist to free the serpentine, so no Pythor to make the spell permenant
Since Garmadon didn’t go off to study under Chen, either Wu never took Morro in, or Morro was trained by both brothers. Either way, I imagine his story to have a softer end in this au
Regardless, Lloyd doesn’t exist so there’s not a green ninja (and probably not even a ninja team at all at this point), and even if Morro did die vengeful, he wouldn’t be out and about considering Chen’s army failed on their own and Garmadon didn’t have to open the portal to the Cursed Realm
Someone could still have found Nadakhan’s teapot and freed him, but he would’ve just got his crew back and then gone back to Djinnjago, minding his own business and moving on with his life considering s5 didn’t happen and Nya didn’t kill the Preeminent and Djinnjago didn’t fall as a consequence
Season seven still happens tho!! In the sense that the time twins are here and causing problems on purpose, at least. We still don’t have a ninja team tho. I propose that Wu still loses that fight against Acronix and the disturbances in time cause concern across ninjago, leading the elemental alliance (that still formed in s4 (with Nya instead of Lloyd) to come together to figure shit out. The plot still mostly happens but since none of them know Wu, no one finds him and he just kinda dies (or Garmadon comes to rescue him and then joins the elemental master sin order to get the time blade to save his brother). Uhhhhh stuff plays out mostly the same except Garmadon gets lost to the time stream instead of Wu maybe
None of the elemental masters really know or care about Garmadon so they say some nice words about his sacrifice and move on with their lives
Seasons eight and nine don’t happen for an abundance of reason (removal of Harumi’s origin story, Garmadon ever being evil, and the Great Devourer ever existing in the first place)
The Oni still cause problems on purpose tho, but without any active FSM family members, the gang just kinda suffers. Maybe the og4 learned about the tornado of creation at some point, maybe Wu’s around to tell them about it now, whatever, we’re gonna assume they figured something out and the world didn’t end
Ok, so the ninja team consists of Kai, Nya, Jay, Cole, Zane, and a revolving door of other elemental masters that pull up from time to time (I like to think Skylor and Karlof are permanent members, but that’s just me). The squad is minding their own business
Because they haven’t been a proper team that long, they don’t have the same burn out they do in canon, and thus never release Aspheera out of sheer boredom, thus season eleven doesn’t happen
Prime Empire my beloved, she remains almost entirely intact unless I’m just missing something
Season thirteen also still happens
The Island doesn’t because neither Wu nor Misako are characters that have much presence in this au
Seabound still happens I think
Crystallized does not (refer to title of this post)
DR still happens -ish (since Lloyd never existed, the details are a bit iffy, but all the major conflicts still occur besides that)
And that’s on me still being awake and brainrotting legos at 2am

Okay but whats your Sensei Wu sexuality hc? Who was his awakening???? Who????? Tell mE- I NEED TO KNOW THE WU LORE
Chixgixgizgi okay
I dont really think about characters sexualities tbh, unless they give me ace vibes.
Which, Wu does. He gives me incredibly strong ace vibes. (So does Cole)
IDK what it is, but... this man does Not have any interest in sex.
I've seen some things where he's like. Flirty or like... intense (idk what else to call it usigxgisgi) and that just... does NOT feel like Wu to me?? (Even if I didn't see him as ace, that's still Not My Boy- xhixogxgi-)
In my mind, he's biromantic too, but he didn't really realise it when he was crushing on someone because it felt so different from what he'd read in books, or what he'd heard people talk about. He wasn't too interested in kissing them or anything, and... he wasn't sure about the thought of anything more. He didn't understand the appeal of it.
He just. Thought he liked some friends More, like. Extra Friendship or something dhdjdhd idk how to explain it.
The only reason he realised he had romantic feelings for Misako was because Mystaké pointed it out to him after hearing him constantly talk about her.
He didn't realise it at the time, but he'd also felt the same thing towards Ray.
Just... look at them.
Look at how HAPPY Wu is.

Do u have a favorite oc?
(Thank you for enabling me JJ)
I love all of my OCs equally but the one i've given the most development is Jackie
I really enjoy doing arcs for OCs and Jackie's is the most finalized. The tl;dr is that a lot of her character focuses on learning independence and developing a sense of self. She is magical and nerdy and kind and will constantly show up in OC writings if I don't control myself
Autism rant under the cut bc when you enabled me you got me on a "was literally ranting to my boyfriend about my ocs earlier so is in a talky mood"
Jackie Fei aka I am putting this girl through the grindhouse of trauma and she's gonna come back better
Jackie is the one who, when I started reworking/rebooting my OCs in 2020 got the biggest change, design, powers, and relationships-wise. Her arc is about learning to define herself and escape her issues with co-dependency.
I am sort of exploring this in my fic Selenelion, which focuses on her relationship with Lloyd (which does play in a lot to her arc) (also shameless plug for the fic it's only two chapters but i'm gonna start working on it again in november) because well... a lot of her co-dependency is there.
Up until post-S7 in the timeline, Jackie latches onto people as sources of strength to an unhealthy degree. She was raised by an oppressive, overbearing caretaker and had her life dictated to her for 18 years. When she tries to escape and gain independence the first time, she gets kidnapped by the Overlord ends up latching onto Garmadon. After Garmadon dies she latches onto Lloyd. It isn't until she and Lloyd have a blowout fight in S7 that she realizes how much she's defined herself using other people. She was Garmadon's Student. She was Lloyd's Girlfriend. Four years ago, she ran away to find who she was, and she still hasn't done it. So she runs away again. Lloyd is fucked up by this but don't worry he'll be fine.
And that ties into her powers. Jackie uses magic as an elemental power, but I want it to be different from other forms of magic in ninjago. Her magic needs a power source to draw on, and the healthiest one is herself, but she does have the ability to draw on others. For example, the Overlord teaches her how to use Dark Matter as a source (bad idea, do not do this, it damages ur mental health) and I've toyed with the idea of Lloyd lending his power to her in battle. Her personal strength is like a muscle, she needs to use it and work on it to grow stronger and relying on other sources doesn't allow her to develop it (which leads to issues when she starts relying solely on Dark Matter in S2, only to lose access to it)
Who Jackie is Post-S7 is a different person and for me it's important she gets that development then because even though I'm a fake fan and haven't finished S8 (I should be soon bc I've been feeling brave) I know her reaction to Garmadon's resurrection and her relationship to Harumi is going to occupy my brain for fifty years, along with how she and Lloyd interact and how their relationship grows in this time (I am determined to give them a healthy romance with a happy ending after a tumultuous start)
None of this is even mentioning the super complicated relationship she has with Wu and Misako at first because her mom... well, her mom Mei is another fascinating character who will be talked about when I talk about my thoughts on the previous generation of EMs at some point
One fun fact about her Post-S7 that I gatekeep but will make appearances is that she curates the Museum of History after she comes back from a long self-discovery journey. She does a lot of research into genealogy and is determined not to let any of the myths, legends, histories, or lore go unremembered (she and Misako and Twyla love to bond over their shared interests). She has an intern named Jenny who goes onto curate the museum after her.
Other general facts:
1. her color scheme is galaxy + green, with purple featuring prominently
2. she's the best at video games of her friends
3. the ninja she has the closest friendship with is Kai, the member of her team she has the closest relationship with ties between Hannah and Roxie
Sorry for the rant, thank you again for enabling me to talk about my OCs I love any opportunity to do so, and hopefully you enjoyed a mini-essay on why I often think about her and why she's up there in terms of my lovelies <3

Me on my way to lore dump about Trinity!AU Morro I just think he’s neat. (also doodle down the bottom if you’re interested)
Morro specialises in one-on-one combat. He prefers to sneak up on people from behind and to rely on surprise as an advantage.
His element of wind makes him able to separate a group and take each person at a time, or he can leave the rest of the group to whoever he is fighting alongside.
He can use his element of wind to allow himself to hover for short periods of time or to blast him up into the sky. He cannot use it to fly
He usually fights with two Katanas. He and Lloyd can also share if one of them lost their weapons or smth.
Morro is the most reserved compared to his other siblings. His love for people only goes so far thus he prefers to keep to himself.
The eldest of three siblings, Morro had spent all of his childhood training to become the green ninja, as it was stated that one of them do so in prophecies. It was believed that he would be the green ninja. He and Akako seemed to bond over this training and she supported him through all those years.
Their father Garmadon didn’t often show up, nor did Misako. Thus it was up to Wu to raise the three kids. Their childhood was built of mostly training, and not much ‘playing around’. Akako did slack off there and again with the youngest, Lloyd. But Morro consistently worked hard to earn the title of the green ninja.
When the time finally came, Morro was shown the golden weapons, and unfortunately not being chosen for the green ninja— to everyone’s surprise. After a heated argument with Wu and in a fit of rage he ran away. To him the past 17 years of his life were ultimately for nothing. He didn’t plan on returning, or even saying goodbye at this rate.
Both Garmadon and Misako blamed Wu for Morros’ disappearance, for building up his false sense of hope. In fear that Wu would turn to Akako or even Lloyd they had decided to take the two after a year or so when Morro was presumed dead.
Morro had been constantly travelling, and didn’t plan on settling down. He didn’t have anywhere to go in all honesty. He began studying said prophecies, trying to make sense of it all, why he wasn’t the one chosen of the three of them.
He had eventually discovered the existence of the cloud kingdom, and how they were the ones who wrote everything that was to be. He became obsessed, trying to find a way to find this kingdom. This is what lead to his obsession with the realm crystal.
This obsession however would lead to his demise, as his bones still remain today in the Caves of Despair.
After his spirit being banished to the Cursed Realm, his extensive knowledge on the Realm Crystal came to light, and was manipulated enough by the Preeminent to locate the realm crystal for her own twisted needs. She did this with the use of his rage towards Wu and the prophecy of the green ninja, especially since the youngest sibling, Lloyd, had been given the role of the Green Ninja.
He had possessed and tortured Lloyds soul in the events of Season 5. This possession had given Lloyd wounds under his eyes, to which the scars still show today. By the time he had abandoned Lloyds body, Lloyd was absolutely exhausted. When he had obtained the realm crystal he had put the preeminents' needs over his own, and opened the portal in order to curse ninjago and the 16 realms. However this plan failed when Nya had reached her true potential, defeating the preeminent.
In the final events Wu had tried to save Morro’s life, promising that they could start fresh. Morro however believed that he was beyond saving, and gave Wu the realm crystal before being dragged into the sea.
The events during day of the departed follow as usual, however when Morro makes amends with Wu and his soul is cleansed, he too is revived alongside Cole.
In the events that follow Morro does little himself to earn the trust of the ninja nor Lloyd. However Akako and Wu both try to attempt bonding with him again. Akako is more successful, and he loosens up just an insy bit. He eventually joins the ninja, now rocking teal lets go baby 💪💪💪💪
Him and Lloyd still have some healing to do, but itll come with time.

Update!
I realized that a lot of early assumed, but never cemented, timeline details about Wu, Garmadon, and even Misako needs to be sorted out in order for me to properly grasp where I can put my OC, An. This means I have to first compile a timeline in canon based off of context clues, assumed ages, and anything I can find on the wiki about pre-series lore, and then adjust to account for my OC's existence.
anyway, it's going to take a bit because I don't like posting here until I'm properly happy about at least the broad strokes, and it's already taken me this long without being satisfied. I just wanted to post here because I'm enjoying this and wanted to let anyone who sees this know what I'm working on next- aka a Pre-series timeline that accounts for An's backstory & childhood.
#update!#anau#ch: an#timeline work#oh ninjago's fuzzy and not specific timeline you are my enemy right now#considering i genuinely thought ninjago was only a few generations old because Wu and Garmadon were still alive and at most hundreds#well it says a LOT for how lost I am about the show's lore timeline currently considering Wu is supposed to be thousands#but i have a few videos saved and the fan wiki to peruse deeper so

GASP you have an “The Island” rewrite idea? TELL US EVERYTHING—
The Ninjago comics have some great ideas of other things that could have happened (like a boat race over lightning waters, a motorcycle escape from baby dragons, more on Misako’s pre-special adventures on the Island, etc.) but I’m so curious about your rewrite ideas :D
When we first got the trailer for The Island, I lowkey thought they were gonna take the "Misako goes missing and Lloyd tries to find her" premise and use it to at least briefly touch on their relationship. Which I was...cautiously optimistic for. Lord knows how badly Misako needs an actual character arc.
So that's the core of what I'd do with an Island rewrite. Use that plotline the facilitate a narrative about the past complications of their relationship, as well as Lloyd's fear of being abandoned/left alone.
For a long time, I've had this scene idea in my brain of Misako and Lloyd being lost in a labyrinthine cave full of strange glowing stone, and she explains that the reason she'd been seeking out the island is because of rumors that this very cave had the power to reveal secret information. However, the danger of the cave is that few people are ever able to leave it alive, as it traps most who enter. She reluctantly hoped the cave could tell her where she went wrong, what she did wrong - she did everything she could to prevent the Final Battle, but it happened anyway. She wanted to know if there was anything at all that she could've done to change that, or if her family was doomed from the start. This is also why Wu joined her for this expedition - he wanted those answers too.
As they walk through the cave in search of a way out, Lloyd asks more about her motives: how she knew he was the Green Ninja, why she left Lloyd at Darkleys of all places, and most importantly why she never came back for him even to visit. She explains herself, with the stones and stalagmites of the cave glowing as they reflect memories from her past. And finally, they have a little bit of closure from this conversation. It is then that they learn the cave only lets you leave once you have accepted the truth of the information you sought, hence why so few people ever escape - most people cant reconcile the harsh truths this cave confronts them with. Misako accepts that there was nothing she could have done to prevent destiny and Lloyd works through some of his abandonment issues, prompting the cave to set them free so they can go join the rest of their friends in the big climactic battle.
Idk. I may also include a scene like that in another fic or something. We'll see, I guess.
Also, I'd probably change the uh. Troublingly stereotypical human sacrifice depictions for the Keepers. And also just like, give Mamatus more of an actual character and personality. Maybe the islanders arent the villains but allies! Perhaps the rewrite focuses more so on Ronin as an antagonist - while also providing more in-character rationalization for his actions. Because while I do like the idea of Ronin as a villain, it feels a bit odd to have him go from a morally grey ally who at least sympathizes with the ninja even when he's not on their side, to a generically roguish villain. Let's dive into what prompted him to pursue such a high-scale crime!
Also, the keepers and Wojira talk may also prompt more discussion about some creation mythology and lore, Wojira's past and reign of terror before the FSM and Nyad came along, to really hammer in why they're so afraid of her. This would add some more setup for Seabound, as well as preemptively establish Wojira as a truly terrifying threat.
I can't say I have a thorough outline for what exactly the rewrite would look like, mostly just a few loose ideas here and there, but that's the general gist of what I've got so far!

Ninjago au where: Not Garmadon but Sensei Wu was bitten by Great Devourer.
Basicly both brothers stays with they own powers (Garmadon with power of Destruction and Wu with power of Creation), they just swapped roles.
So, in here, Lord Wu got bitten by GD, studied under Master Chen, signed love letter that Garmadon wrote for Misako, is Lloyd's father and in general, does what Garmadon was doing in the series. Not a lot of changes on this part.
But i wouldn't be myself if i didn't change anything in lore.
Garmadon is ninjas' sensei, trains them and stuff, mostly does everything like Wu (he's just forgetting to tell them something... sometimes...) but he didn't made Morro think that he is a Green Ninja. Honestly, Garmadon doesn't believe that Green Ninja is a real thing, so he only looks for elemental masters that want and can protect Ninjago from evil and most important from his brother. He's really surprise when Kai suggest that Lloyd is a Green Ninja but just accepted it. Morro wasn't that happy but Lloyd is his cousin that he care about, so he just stands by protecting him.
Oh, yeah. The most important thing, GARMADON DOESN'T FLIRT WITH SOMEONE'S WIFE. He got over it after Wu and Misako's wedding. The end, he doesn't love her, I don't care. (Also he does know that Wu signed his letter. At first he wanted to tear his brother in half, but just gave up. Honestly, if Misako doesn't see differences between their handwriting and way they express themselves, she also might not see differences in who's bed she is. Garmadon definitively doesn't need that.)

Lets say Garamdon didn't get banished to the Cursed realm. What head canons do you have for season 5 onward (obviously excluding 8 & 9, but 10 can kinda still happen) if he was still around?
WORD alright :D
i’m kinda gonna focus more on season 5, if y’all would like me to do more for any of the future seasons, lmk!
- so obviously the letter is a big thing that has to be focused on
- garmadon feels super guilty for it, and continues to apologize
- even after wu eventually forgives him
- the tea shop is still there but it’s not in place of garmadon’s monastery (obviously)
- they just built it in a different place (probably near his monastery)
- when lloyd was called to the museum, garmadon offered to go with him
- lloyd refused, telling him he’s got it and he’ll be fine
- surprise surprise, he’s not, and morro possesses him
- garmadon knows something is up the second “lloyd” shows up at the tea shop
- he’s horrified upon seeing lloyd’s new look when morro possessed him
- he can’t help but blame himself, wishing he would’ve went with lloyd and possibly prevented morro possessing his son
- im terrible at ninjago lore, but i’m pretty sure garmadon wasn’t around when wu was training morro, and i like to think wu had failed to tell garmadon about him in the first place
- so of course garmadon was like “wtf u put it into this kid’s head that he was gonna be the chosen one and then it turns out he isn’t?? of course that’s gonna have a negative effect on him”
- they get into an argument about it, and misako has to step in and tell them they should be focused on stopping morro and getting lloyd back
- i feel like garmadon must’ve already known nya would be the next master of water, considering this bit of dialogue from season 4:
“They were the First Spinjitzu Master's guardians, each endowed with an Elemental Power that has passed down through generations.”
“If that's true, then so is my sister Nya. But she can't do what I can.”
“Can't she? Power lies in all of you. It only needs to be awoken.”
- garmadon’s like “i don’t understand why you didn’t tell her about this in the first place”
- and this is where we get more of that badass garmadon and nya duo
- he definitely helped train her to become the water ninja
- he was hard on her, but it absolutely helped her find and unlock her true potential
and uhhh yeah that’s all i’ve got for now! i hope this is alright :)

Got A LOT of asks about Wu and Garmadon and their shapeshifting in Ninjago Respun so heres a BIG answer instead
[spoilers for canon Ninjago lore, and minor spoilers for Respun lore since I’ll gradually explain this all in canon anyway. Only read this if you are DYING to know I guess?] [Whenever I say “we’ll talk about that later” that basically means I won’t talk about that further even if you ask, sorry D: Gotta wait for the comic to address that.] CONTEXT: The First Spinjitzu Master was SOOO strong. He was NOT supposed to exist, not just because of the eternal war between Oni and Dragon, but because sex between the two does NOT usually yield any Baby?! (Plus some other reasons ill talk about later). So like. Woaaah wtf? So.... that one baby? The First Spinjitzu Master? Yeah, he is a god! All the powers that dragons and oni have? He has them, and more.
SOME FIRST SPINJITZU MASTER DETAILS:
Dragons usually only have titles for names, so “First Spinjitzu Master” is literally his name.
He is immortal.
Oni are shapeshifters with no defined form. Dragons are shapeshifters too, but to a lesser extent (we’ll talk about that later). So the First Spinjitzu Master is a shapeshifter too. And so, humans are literally the fursona of the FSM.
He can create shit like its no big deal. He made the land, the plants, the animals, the people, the elements -- he made *almost* EVERYTHING in the realm of Ninjago (we’ll talk about that later).
Some aspects of Ninjago’s many cultures came from the First Spinjitzu Master -- from Oni and Dragon -- but other parts developed independently. In the Oni-Dragon language, “he” is a pronoun referring to Oni, and “she” is a pronoun referring to Dragons. There are other things too but that would take A LONG TIME to talk about... moving on...
HISTORY OF WU AND GARMADON’S SHAPESHIFTING AND ONI-DRAGON HERITAGE BIRTH | YEAR 0: So, the immortal Oni-Dragon named the First Spinjitzu Master, aka: God, decided to create people for his cool awesome realm. He wanted humans to be different from himself, but he also wanted a couple people who were just like him that could continue his legacy. He wanted people who could forever defend what he created. So he just mpregged himself and made two kids! Lying: He summoned them into existence, no pregnancy involved, sorry. Cries. The first he created was named Garmadon (named by himself), and the second he created was named Wu (named by his dad like a loser HAHA). Garmadon was born (created) in late winter, and Wu was born (created) in early summer. Wu and Garmadon are biologically identical to their father, half Oni, half Dragon, and immortal. But they are not as powerful as him. Beings equally strong as himself would be impossible for the FSM to create. His sons don’t have the same creation powers as him, but they have the same Oni and Dragon abilities. When Wu was born (created), Garmadon instantly chose to look almost identical to Wu. He previously had a different form that the First Spinjitzu Master designed for him, but fuck that (we call this becoming the realm of Ninjago’s first transgender person). At birth they looked and acted like they were around 3 years old. CHILDHOOD | YEARS 0-30: Wu and Garmadon’s physical forms are a conscious decision, but are also affected by their subconscious mental states. This caused them to age like MOSTLY like a normal child would... just a BIT slower. They also interacted mostly with people the same age as them, and chose to age like they did (we’ll talk more about this later). Garmadon got bit by the Great Devourer when he was 7. His eyes would look like he is really high sometimes (glow red) because of the curse, unrelated to shapeshifting. He also has a scar on his arm from the bite and the venom. It is usually very hard to scar an Oni/Dragon, but it was a powerful, long-term, magical wound. The bite caused him to become soooooooo angry and evil that he made up a Oni-persona because Onis look evil and cool. The two of them were always distracted by exploring the world, rather than questioning who they were. They just knew their father was from “outside the realm” and “half oni, half dragon.” They knew he and they could live forever, while others couldn’t, and knew they could shapeshift, while others couldn’t. But they never questioned him further, like.... they didn’t really care lol. Around 30 they looked/acted like they were around 15 years old (around 30 is when they met Aspheera btw). TEENAGE YEARS/YOUNG ADULTHOOD | YEARS 30-70: More adventuring and not caring about who they are. On one adventure, Wu got “crucified” by a village of people, Breaking-Wheel-Style on a Dharmachakra, while Garmadon watched and laughed. Eventually Wu and Garmadon met this woman on their adventures. [[Ninjago spoilers, cough cough --mystaké, --cough cough]]. She cryptically explained a few things: Dragon and Oni were at war in the past, Dragons create, Oni destroy, and currently the two species are dispersed across the realms. Wu and Garmadon’s father got mad at this lady for spilling all these beans, so she shut up about the dragon and oni shit, but still guided them in other ways for many many many many many many many many years to come. Around age 60, Wu and Garmadon looked about 30 years old. Their father passed on when they were 60, and the brothers began to diverge in the way they physically looked. Prior to this, they were near identical and relatively normal looking. My dearest apologies to those of you who love sexy 30 year old sensei Wu, buuuttttttttt, over the next decade, Wu became eldercore and wisdompilled as fuck. Meanwhile, Garmadon became a ripped 7′0 hottie (smh), who SLOWLY got older over centuries, paralleling Misako’s age. We’ll talk about Misako later. CENTURIES GO BY | YEARS 70-450: Btw, despite being really hard to scar, Wu got scars on his arms from another “crucifixion” at some point. (we’ll talk more about this later). .......More stuff happens.... not related to onis or dragons shapeshifting...... At age 450: -- oh crap GARMADON YOURE EVIL AF *banishes him*. We’ll obviously talk a LOT more about the banishment event later, ofc. Garmadon gets #pissed and so #fuck #anger #kill that he turns into his four-armed oni-persona. Wu and Garmadon know dragons. Wu hid the four golden weapons so Garmadon could never get them, and had dragons guard them. He is actually pretty tight with these dragons. They’re his friends. They were friends with Garmadon too. In the “Pilot”, “Weapons of Destiny”, Wu could’ve stopped these dragons from fighting the Ninja, but he wanted to test his students lmao. As for Oni, Wu and Garmadon (believe they) have never met a full-Oni. UP TO THE CURRENT DAY | YEAR 610. Most of Ninjago’s people know nothing about Oni and Dragons. Oni and Dragons are just mythological, often dismissed as fake. They don’t know Wu, Garmadon, and the First Spinjitzu Master are related to Oni and Dragon at all. Their origin doesn’t need explanation to most citizens. People just think, “Oh, The FSM, Master Wu, and Lord Garmadon? You mean God, Jesus, and Evil Jesus?” (Of course, the “Jesus” part is COMPLETELY non-diegetic, and they don’t actually call them that. They don’t know wtf Jesus is). I could go off about religion in Ninjago, but don’t get me started lol XD So, in conclusion, we got two immortal half-dragon-half-oni idiots that are worshipped by the average citizen. Wu is purposefully eldercore, and Garmadon is purposefully a ripped 7′0 oni-persona hottie. Post that explains rules of oni-dragon shapeshifting. That’s the lore at the moment. Any thoughts? Criticisms? Any other questions?
#sorry for inconsistent capitalization#deleting all asks on this topic now#this is p much everything i am ok with revealing about wu and garm ooc#but if anything is confusing feel free to ask and i might clarify

Could we see more of the emperor Garmadon and the hypno Lloyd au please? Maybe Misako’s general reaction and trying to make Garmadon not cause as damage
oh right, forgot she was there....(TBH I think I like it better without her, but whatever.)
--
“Watch the nestling.” Garmadon said, setting Misako down.
Part of her had been expecting something like this. She still panicked when she saw Lloyd, but calmed down quickly when she saw that he was perfectly fine.
“Mom?” He said, dazed and not looking her in the eye.
“Honey, Lloyd isn’t a nestling.” she said “He’s only part oni, remember?”
Garmadon growled.
“He smells like a newborn.” he insisted.
Lloyd was just calmly sitting on the floor between them, unaware he’d just been called an infant. She supposed by oni standards it wasn’t much of an exaggeration. Plus Lloyd was technically not a teenager by human standards either.
“Right. Well…” she said, trying to remember what she could about oni and how they interacted with family.
The young were kept enthralled until they were either old enough that the parent deemed them ready, or strong enough to break out on their own. With what she knew of her husband and with Lloyd having dragon and human traits, he was never going to be satisfied that Lloyd was grown.
Maybe Lloyd could break free once he got more used to it. But oni young developed most their resistance as young children, even if Garmadon wanted to, he wasn’t around to hypnotize Lloyd when he was young, so Lloyd had no practice with it. That was going to take awhile.
Then there was Harumi. She was being treated more like a proper oniling. She had free autonomy. Thankfully, that meant she wouldn’t have much of a chance to attack Lloyd seeing how she was expected to be independent and stay out of the nest. Returning or hiding in the nest was seen as a sign of maladaptation. If she kept it up, Garmadon would try to correct it. If the problem proved to be beyond fixing, it is typical for the oniling to be cast out. (nature could be cruel, and oni crueler.)
Garmadon had clearly declared Misako the physically weaker of the two (correct) so she would be the nest keeper (probably the right call). That meant she wasn’t supposed to leave, but it also gave her more power.
It was very bad practice for an oni to refuse a request from the nest keeper.
“Sweetie.” Misako said, catching Garmadon’s attention before he left. “I don’t want you to kill people. Please?”
“I’ll do my best to honor that.” he said. “Anything else you need?”
“A proper human bed for me and Lloyd. He can’t sleep on the floor.” she added.
Garmadon pointed to the pile of pillows and blankets he had thrown together.
Misako shook her head.
“He needs a real bed Garm. At least a mattress!” she said.
He pouted, but agreed.
“and for me...I think I need some alcohol. Just because this is a lot to deal with right now.”
“Consider it done!” he declared.
Then he charged out to “hunt” for her. He would probably bring Harumi so he could teach her about providing for a nest.
Misako settled down on the floor next to Lloyd. He leaned into her while she gently stroked his head.
“Mom…” he said.
“Yes, it’s me.” she confirmed.
Lloyd was still learning how to think through the hypnosis. There wasn’t much he could do on his own. He was going to be limited to simple words and simple concepts for awhile. He practically was a baby.
It was kind of nice. She barely got to spend any time with him when he was actually little, so she decided to enjoy what she could.

I guess I'm expanding the lore here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
