Peter shoving his way through a bunch of primary colored vigilantes to get to his Uncle, because that's his fucking Uncle. That's the man that raised him, that died saving him, and they're holding him down like he's a dog.

Obviously they're not expecting that kind of strength from a teen who looks like he's 100 pounds soaking wet, but the vigilantees recover easily.

Batman tried to pull him back forcibly, and catches a mean right hook as a consequence. But it doesn't matter if he's making enemies of heroes. How good could they be if they're hurting his Uncle?

His Uncle sits up, bloodied and dazed, but alive.

He's younger, and has more scars than he remembers, but that's without a doubt his Uncle. It's the only familiar face he's seen in weeks.

Maybe that's why Peter can't help it when he barrels into his Uncle, hugging him like his life depends on it. (Maybe it does.)

He wraps his arms around his neck, like he'd done as a child, and sobbed. Someone tries to pull him away— not his Uncle, never his Uncle— but Peter just sticks himself to him.

Slowly, hesitantly, his Uncle hugs him back. He rubs his back, like he used to do when Peter would get stomach bugs. It just makes him cry harder.

Distantly, Peter acknowledges that this might be a little confusing to explain later. But in this moment, he has his Uncle.

I just had the brain spark idea for ANGST with Peter in Gotham with Jason as Uncle Ben. What if it is when he is still mad with anger from the Lazaraus Puts, and Peter's first meeting with him is when he is in the middle of one of his homicidal rages?

Like, Jason is back with the Batfam, and he is on the good guy side, but it's before he has reached a balance on his anger, and he still struggles to control the pit madness. And the first time Peter sees him and recognizes his face, Jason is momentarily going crazy?

Ooooo wait this is such a good idea!!

Imagine Peter, whose uncle has only been dead for 2-3 years at this point, seeing a man who has his uncles face repeatedly punching an unconscious man? The city's vigilantes are trying to pry him off, distract him from turning that poor guys face into a mushy pool of broken bones and blood.

Some are trying to comfort him, for some reason, while others say... less than polite things. The blue one electrocutes him, his not-uncle, successfully, which only serves to move his focus from the bloodied body to the vigilante. Which, well, was the point, but it feels wrong seeing his not-uncle be electrocuted repeatedly and beaten with a bo staff.

Batman even shows up to restrain him, his uncle had always been larger than life, in the metaphorical and physical sense. Peter's uncle was a gentle man, and the only time he ever used his size was when he was out on duty, to save people's lives.

His eyes glowed a neon green, and his weirdly youthful face was framed by premature white hair. His nose was busted and bleeding, staining his teeth. It made Peter nauseous. The last time his uncle had been covered in blood, he...

"Stop it! What are you doing to him?!" Peter screamed, finally finding the strength to leave his hiding spot behind a dumpster.

He stared. What else could he do?

He hadn't been in this universe long, hadn't found any signs of the Parkers ever even existing here. How could he be so stupid? Of course they could've existed with different names— his dad and uncle had been adopted. They probably have completely different families and last names because Peter... doesn't exist here. They're alive because Peter doesn't exist here.

The blue one, Nightwing, stepped forward. "Hey, this is no place for a kid, alright? We've got this handled." He took the tone Peter often took with scared civilians as Spider-man.

"No, you're— you're hurting him! Stop it!" Peter moved to get closer to his uncle, but was held back gently by Nightwing.

"Get the kid out of here, now!" Batman snapped, struggling to hold down his uncle.

i was in a history class the other day and it just. Hit me. How weird of a title lab rats is. Like don’t get me wrong i get it, i get the joke, i get how it’s very on brand for disney xd but also. I don’t know how to explain it but it’s so weird to me. Like i feel like we should have gotten a literal rat-based problem at some points, or with disney being as wholesomely cheesy as they are they’d have a character dress up in mouse ears or something, or they’d make more rat jokes. Also lab rats has a kind of negative connotation, like titling something with rats seems weird? I’m not complaining it’s whatever i just,,, need to know if i’m the only one who’s thought about this lol

I'm so glad you brought this up because I've actually been thinking about this and how Lab Rats fit into Disney (across both channels) and Nickelodeon shows at the time!

Now I haven't finished watching the show yet (currently at the end of S2) but as far as I know of, correct me if I'm wrong though, the only "lab rats" related thing/gag is in the very first episode when Chase says "All we do is eat, sleep, and train for missions. We're like human lab rats" and then it cuts to Adam running on the wheel like a rodent/rat. So at least through Chase's comment, we can assume that the siblings view themselves as lab rats.

Another thing is how they were fed food pellets, and especially in which the manner they were originally given to them which was through a dispenser in their capsules (though we do see that they can eat them outside of their capsules as seen in "Death Spiral Smackdown") .

I'll be on the lookout for rat related things though as I continue to watch! If anyone else on here knows of anything else rat related in the show, let me know.

As for the term "lab rat" I do agree that typically it's a negative connotation, where it's associated with experiments and technology and cruel treatment. I think it fits for the Davenport siblings though since they are experimental human beings with not only their bionic chips, but a bunch of technology in the form of their bionic infrastructures shoved inside of them (like in the picture below depicts their bionic infrastructures relating to their main abilities). Most of the time we can also see that Chase has wiring inside of his head when it shows his bionic hearing, and not to mention the usb in his finger and that he has an entire computer system in his head.

And I know it isn't meant to be interpreted this way, but I do believe that it totally could be applied as a darker more negative meaning towards the Davenport siblings. The Adam, Bree, and Chase that we see in the show as bionic heroes weren't meant to exist that way. Douglas was going to raise them as bionic cyber-soldiers, weapons of mass destruction meant to do other peoples' dirty work and even capable of starting world wars. So we could think of them in a negative light that way, almost as "dirty" rats

i havent finished tamn (chpt 30), but I have a little theory about immunity. I'm assuming the virus is usually fatal via fever, as in the fever kills the victim and then resurrects them. while gri and q survived the fever but are still infected, thus the "immunity". i just love sentient zombie stories! sorry for redundancy if you answered something similar to this in the past

That's the gist of it, yeah! Calling themselves "immune" is a bit of a falsehood on both Quackity and Grian's part (though not an intentionally misleading one- Grian picked up calling it 'immune' from Quackity, and Quackity calls it that because he's a very "if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it's a duck" kind of person). They're both still very much infected, though, which means they carry and operate with all the symptoms of the virus (just skipped the "dying horrifically" part).

That being said, we figure that there are a few people out there with True Immunity (i.e. no adverse reactions/symptoms to a bite) but sadly, in the context of TAMN............ neitehr Big Q or Gri are one of those people - 🔒

You'll never know it if you're not a writer, but it takes a lot of work to finish something as little as 3,000 words. Majority of the longer fics I've posted on here took a minimum of eight months to finish. So to put in all that work only for people to ask me to put in more work is exhausting to read.

I write primarily for myself. I choose to share it because I think others may enjoy it too. Being consistently asked for a part 2 on oneshot fics makes me feel like I'm a fast food server, like it's my job to take your orders and serve the public. My writing, to you, is not an art to appreciate, but a commodity to fill your stomach.

If you're going to leave a comment on anyone's fic, say that you liked it. If you're feeling wordy, tell the author the things you enjoyed about it or what it made you think or feel. Trust me, that is far more flattering than demanding a sequel without anything else. And for my works, if asking for a sequel is the only thing you have to say, I'd really rather you just say nothing at all.
