• When Gon said he had befriended you let's say.. After the Trick Tower.

• He was super cautious of you, while you had such a warm presence, the whispers of rumors made him tense.

• And thus; you'd always get the cold shoulder whenever you'd interact with him. A simple gruff response with a stoic expression, or when you request something he'd hesitantly agree because you're still Gon's friend.

• Though after a few months, he had learned what 'Nen' is, you weren't so bad. He had learned to appreciate your soft presence and loved the sound of your hums whenever the two kids were going to sleep.

• When he apologized, he was just an absolute mess of embarrassment and shame.

• "My.. My bad, I just thought you had er ill intentions.." He mumbles as he rubs his head, a soft shade of scarlet forms in his cheeks as he occasionally steals glances at your face.

• You of course, accepted his apology. Who wouldn't? Killua The Zoldyck was actually apologizing– to you, no less. You felt flattered! Also because his little blush was so adorable!!

• After that, Killua and you bonded like Gon and he. There were no moments where someone was left out, well, at least a little, but you still loved both of them dearly.

• Now ! I have a feeling he'd use your voice to his benefit. In combat, he'd use you as bait! Your voice was so alluring that a lot of people would think you'd be a great victim and then from behind! Boom! Killua's sharp bloodied nails just a few centimeters from your face, and the target's dead!

• This actually happened one time, except it wasn't intended. In York New city before meeting up with Kurapika, you were almost a victim of child trafficking– so Killua had to do it! Why would he let his precious friend be abducted?!

• Another one of his benefits, is simply for his ears. Growing up, he wasn't used to such an alluring and beautiful voice, so whenever you'd talk and someone intended to cut you, he'd send them a glare and continued to listen to you.

• The effects your voice had on him was completely different from Illumi's hypnotize. He felt at peace when you'd speak to him or when you'd sing to him.

• To him, your voice is your most charming aspect.

• While other people also thought your voice was beautiful and that you were talented, to him, your voice was more than talent.

• He viewed your voice as an angelic symphony. A piece of music he'd never get bored of despite playing it over and over again.

• You and he got along with a simple snap! There was just this spark you two had and just clicked!

• When you two met during the Second Phase of the exam, he found you soothing a random applicant that was shivering to his core. He had tears in his eyes, crying that he didn't want to jump off that cliff for just an egg.

• Well of course the children didn't know if that was possible, but you all trained diligently nonetheless!

• During the Heaven's Arena training, Gon really appreciated your voice when he was internally stressed– to the point he hadn't realized it himself.

• During the Chimera Ants, your singing was one of the few things that would always keep him at bay.

• Your soft voice that reminded him of his childhood, where he was just relaxing back in Whale Island. Your soft voice that reminded him of the group of five where everyone was complete and just goofing around the Hunter's Exam.

• He longed for that feeling again. To make reckless decisions and enjoy life.

• Ultimately, his desire to avenge Kite– the closest thing he had as a father clouded his appreciation for his friends. His rage and hatred consumed him truly, not even Killua nor you could make him budge.

• It was inevitable for the three of you to split up in the end. You knew, yet you still longed for Gon's presence. Had your feelings hadn't stayed in silence, would your outcome be different?

KilluGon and the Chimera Ant Arc

idk what to title this. but it’s basically just a few interesting killugon parallels and connections i found in the CAA. (SPOILERS AHEAD!!)

1)

“Precious.”

“You’re the only one for me!”

The Killua scene happens in chapter 219. The Palm and Knov scene happens right after, in chapter 220.

Y’all know the story. Killua fights a rabbit and proclaims Gon as his “most precious friend” . Killua thinks of all their moments together, the most emphasized one being from the dodgeball game when Gon said some gay shit to him.

“KILLUA JA NAKYA DAME NAN DA!” is the exact phrase Gon used.

It’s a romantic phrase in Japan. The English equivalent is :

Killua is the only one for me! ; it has to be Killua! ; Killua is my one and only!

READ THIS ARTICLE. IT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING ABOUT GON AND THE PHRASE HE USED.

The top panel is the next chapter when Knov caught Palm using her power without his permission. He manipulates her by saying “Your blood is precious resource.” , knowing exactly how that word would affect her. After hearing Knov say “precious” , Palm thinks to herself “Knov is the only one for me!”

i wanted to address that each scene uses different wording BUT they all mean the same thing, just like how there’s multiple ways to say English words and phrases, it’s. the. same. thing. romantic phrases. preciousness. one and only.

Gon :

じゃなきゃダメなんだ (Ja nakya dame nan da) = You’re the only one for me / It has to be you

Palm :

しかいない (Shika inai) = You’re the only one for me / There is only you

Killua :

大事な (Dajina) = Precious / Important

Knov :

貴重 (Kichō) = Precious / Valuable

Anyway, the point is, Togashi’s intentions with this little connection is clear. Knov calling Palm’s blood “precious” and Palm saying ���Knov is the only one for me” which was expressed in a very romantic manner, and it all happened like 15 minutes after Killua and Gon said the same things abt each other.

Palm and Knov paralleled Gon and Killua from the very moment they were first introduced.

I’m working on a separate post that focuses solely on the parallels between PalmKnov and GonKillua because it’s a lot.

“Would you stay by my side?”

The bottom panel is the conversation between Meruem and Komugi before they... you know... shinjuu.

I know I talk a lot about Palm and Knov paralleling/reflecting killugon but the parallels with Meruem and Komugi go CRAZY. It's so underrated. The above dialogue is just one example of the many parallels.

Isn't it interesting how Togashi chose to make Gon and Killua reflect not just one but TWO romantic pairings so far?

"I want to stay by your side... always........."

"I'll stay with you... forever!!"

Importance

I never realized how big of a theme "importance" was in hxh. It connects everything all together.

In the top left panel, it explains how Komugi is important to Pitou because of how Komugi is important to Meruem, and Meruem is important to Pitou.

But the thing is, although Pitou already knew it, Meruem (at the time) didn't realize that Komugi was the thing most important to him. The thing most important wasn't his initial goal of taking over the world, but the person he met along the way, the one who flipped his world upside down and gave him his first feelings of friendship and love.

Meruem didn't realize Komugi was most important to him until after they were separated and reunited again. He fully understood her importance as they prepared to die together (shinjuu).

Oh, and then we have Gon, Killua, and Palm, of course. And Ging.

We're all familiar with Killua's little breakdown. Palm reassured him that she wasn't the one most important to Gon, but that it was Killua all along. Killua is the most important to Gon.

Killua then also becomes important to Palm, because of how Killua is important to Gon, and Gon is important to Palm.

But the thing is, although Palm already knew it, Gon (at the time) didn't realize that Killua was the thing most important to him. The thing most important wasn't his initial goal of finding his dad, but the person he met along the way, the one who flipped his world upside down and gave him his first feelings of friendship and love.

Gon's true feelings and thoughts are actually still unclear, which leads me to believe that his story with Killua isn't over yet. I can only assume that he'll have a similar realization just like Meruem.

According to the bottom right panel, Gon will "inherit" the heart of realizing what (or who, in this case) is truly important. Togashi told us right there in bold lettering.

Ok but can we talk about how HISOKA of all people was the first to say it outloud that Gon and Killua are something more than friends? His little speech doesn't sound that ambiguous to me, he make it pretty clear that Gon is KIllua's beloved, right after using a hetero romantic couple as an example. read my post about this moment here!!

Love love love. HXH IS ABOUT LOVE. The main love of focus is between Gon and Killua, obviously.

And yeah, i know two of the panels aren't CAA related, but everything is indirectly connected to that arc so i'll allow it.

“That’s not what he’s talking about.” Kurapika cut him off, voice gentle. “Well-maybe a part of it is. Gon…you know it’s okay to be upset about Killua.”

“I’m not!” It came too fast. Gon winced at the sharpness in his voice, shaking his head. “I’m not, cause I know we’re gonna get him back! And we’re gonna be together again; so I’m not…I’m not..” His lip quivered, tears welling in his eyes.

“Oh, Gon.” Leorio murmured, pulling the small boy into a tight hug when he let out a small sob. “It’s okay. Everything’s gonna be okay.”

“I k-know that! I just- I wish I was th-there. He n-needed me!” Gon wiped at his face aggressively, wincing when he touched his wounds. Kurapika’s hands were soft as they pulled his arm away, replacing it with a soft handkerchief. “I couldn’t sto-op him from leaving..” “You were knocked out, Gon. No one blames you for that. Not even Killua.” Kurapika reassured him, wiping away his tears. “He’ll be sure to tell you that when we see him again, so don’t blame yourself anymore. It’s like you said; we’ll be together again real soon.”

Gon nodded, sniffing once more before taking a deep breath. When he smiled again, it was weak, but genuine. “Okay..”

“Not okay! You can’t go see Killua with that poor excuse of a smile! Ain't that right, ‘Pika?” Leorio asked. Gon looked between him and the annoyed blonde.

“‘Pika? Really?” He shook his head with a small laugh. “I agree. Be gentle though. Mind his injuries.”

“You don’t need to tell me twice.”

“What are you..” Gon blinked, then he let out a squeal as twenty fingers attacked his torso, gentle and feather light as they tickled him. “Nohohohohoho, dohohohon’t! Ahehahahaha, guhuhuhuhys!”

“That’s better! See- how hard was that?” Leorio laughed with him, using his previous hug as a proper trap. “You gotta smile like that when we see Killua again! He needs it!”

“That’s right, Gon. And you need it too.” Kurapika gave his neck a few tickles, making him scrunch and laugh. “We can’t stand to see you upset. If your smile drops even a little, we’re gonna tickle you the entire way there!”

“Ehehahhaa! Fihihine, fihihihne! I prohohohmise I’ll behehehe ohohokay!” Gon cried, gasping for air when they finally stopped. “Eheheh..hehehehe..thahanks, guys..I neheheeded that. I’m so happy I got to meet you two.”

Leorio sniffed, suddenly looking away. Kurapika’s smile warmed, eyes scrunching in the corners. “We’re happy to have met you too.”

TodoBakuDeku (My Hero Academia)

Obviously not canon and never will be but oh does this ship have a chokehold on me. I just think this trio is so balanced in every way. Like we have our precious TodoDeku who connect by being nerds and the sweetest boys. Then we also have TodoBaku who are just lovely little menaces. And, of course, BakuDeku--can't beat friends to enemies to lovers. And then they all come together to form a masterpiece. Idk I just love this ship so much.

BakuDeku (My Hero Academia)

So I honestly really wasn't into this ship too much until reading the final war arc and meta. Other people's viewpoints changed my mind! Hori has done a really great job of portraying BakuDeku's complex relationship in the manga (for however you view their canon relationship). So like idk how can I not ship For-the-Rest-of-Our-Lives Katsuki with Control-Your-Heart Izuku?

Sidenote: I almost didn't include this on the list because I tend to only really ship this pair while reading the manga. I never shipped them in the anime unless it was TodoBakuDeku with Deku as a hinge. And I don't even read many fics with just Katsuki and Izuku. I just feel like fandom BakuDeku feels incomplete without Shouto for some reason. Like I'm Team BakuDeku for the manga, Team hinge TodoBakuDeku in the anime, but throuple TodoBakuDeku in the sanctuary of my mind/on ao3. (Maybe that'll change once I start watching Season 7 though.)

KilluGon (Hunter x Hunter)

I only watched this anime this year but ohmygod I immediately fell in love with Gon and Killua. They are so precious. I mean, Killua is just a little smitten kitten. And Gon? He's in it. Anyway, love their dynamic and of course I ship them. Gon is Killua's light after all!

MatchaBlossom (Sk8 the Infinity)

Literally just started shipping this so I'm in the throes of obsession rn but their dynamic? *chef's kiss* (hehe, you like what I did there?) Childhood friends? Pining while the other falls for another? Realizing feelings? Already married bickering old couple? Give me all the headcanons please!

SatoSugu (Jujutsu Kaisen)

I mean, c'mon. Tragic gays are my weakness. They're gonna be OG for me. No one can compare. They're on a different level. All I want is for them to have hopped on a plane and gone somewhere they can finally find peace, is that too much to ask? (Gege??)

Ok so this crackship was brought on by my serendipitous viewing of Nicktoons Unite fanart on this beautiful app and subsequent reading of all their fics on ao3 (a grand total of four, btw). And I'm obsessed. I was a diehard Danny Phantom fan as a kid (we stan our queer/genderqueer/bisexual/trans ghost boy). And I never watched El Tigre as a kid, but the way the fandom portrays him and Danny together just hits. Salty and sweet with a lil bit of darkness? Yum.

Second and last canon ship on the list! Love me some good ole sun and moon. Idk their story is so cute. Plus, I like how Kii Kana portrays Shun's feelings regarding his sexuality and how that affects his relationship with Mio. It's relatable.

I mean, this is practically canon, right? Well, at least queerplatonically (which we stan). Love our little found family. This anime had such a cute and goofy premise, how could I not fall for this ship?

hxh analysis: ep. 98 [killua] parallels ep. 116 [gon]

okay but the parallel between killua kinda lashing out/getting defensive towards gon in ep. 98 and gon lashing out/getting defensive towards killua in ep. 116 (but in a more intense way when he did it obv) has been a reoccurring thought in my head for a while now.

esp since i always personally interpreted killua’s goal for splitting up at all in ep. 98 as more than just him believing it’ll be easier to do alone & wanting gon to focus on prioritizing the mission over all else. that’s def part of it, but i also believe that killua’s actions, esp in this arc, always have an underlying emotional response in them, even if he doesn’t verbally mention it & he makes it seem like it’s ONLY for the sake of the mission.

when gon begins to interject, killua’s voice & actions begin to take on a rather defensive tone and then he switches to a more controlled & composed demeanor, acting as if he actually has everything under control (bc killua feels the need to constantly have everything under his control, or at least act like he does or act like it doesn’t bother him even when it’s the opposite); he does this a few times throughout the brief span they talk abt this.

even killua’s words (paraphrasing here), which are “no offense, but it’ll be easier for me to do alone,” had a rather harsh tone to them imo. at the same time, we can’t rly see killua’s expression, just the bottom half of his face, both that and his voice concealing how he rly feels. to me, this is only amplified by gon’s reaction, which was to make a face and say “okay, i get it.” in a rather annoyed/dejected tone.

like, “okay, i get it; you don’t want me around right now, you don’t think i’ll be able to help you. you don’t have to rub it in.” or smth like that. and considering gon is equally codependent on killua as killua is on him, & gon’s own internal insecurities and struggles abt not being strong/good enough to help or save the ppl he loves, i can imagine that probably insulted him even more, esp since it was his best friend in the entire world saying it. even if it wasn’t necessarily a “big deal”, that would still hurt.

all i could think in this moment was that killua was intentionally trying to push gon away, which was weird to me at first bc i didn’t understand why. why would killua be pushing his best friend away right now, arguably when they need each other most (again, i understand killua is also doing this for the mission but at the same time, it feels like he’s somewhat acting out of emotion) at the moment?

i think it’s bc this is the arc where killua’s feelings for gon (idc if you see them as platonic or romantic; regardless, killua is in DEEP) are at their most heightened, and at the same time, is the most aware killua has been of them. i could be wrong, but i feel this is the time he realized how much gon truly means to him, and at the same time, just how terrified he is of losing him (ep. 84, aka the “he’s my most precious friend!”, “i don’t want.. to lose him!”, and the needle removal ep. was when his feelings became more intense & he started to become more and more aware of how he truly felt).

(side note: i 100% believe that killua pulling out the needle, which was bc of how much he loved gon in the 1st place, was part of the reason killua’s feelings seem to steadily become more intense as the arc progressed. he can actually FEEL and REMEMBER stuff better now in its absence. why wouldn’t that make his emotions for his loved one(s) even more intense?)

what’s smth killua usually does when he’s afraid, when he feels like he doesn’t have any or enough control? he hides how he truly feels, he lashes out, he gets defensive, he tries to take control back of himself, his feelings, and of the situation in order to quell all of that trauma-born anxiety, sometimes even at the expense of hurting others or himself (just like gon does sometimes and esp in this arc).

and while this isn’t a perfect one-on-one parallel, it def feels like one to the way gon acted towards killua in ep. 116. gon pushed killua away by lashing out bc he felt like he was losing control; control of himself & feelings, control of the situation, control of the narrative he created in his mind of pitou being evil incarnate & them getting kite back in order to avoid completely breaking, etc.

if gon can't control kite being restored and if he can't control the situation, then he will grasp for smth that he sees as a last resort, one of the only things he can do: pushing away the person who loves him the most & who he loves most in return, the person he needs the most & who also needs him most, as a form of control. he can't directly control killua & make him go away, but he can be harsh and thoroughly even so, so killua leaves, and gon won't have to worry abt being the cause of another person he cares abt, who he values over himself, dying.

in ep. 98, killua couldn't control his feelings or the situation at hand- gon may very well die, & killua just can't let that happen- so he pushes all of that away in order to quell the fear, the vulnerability, the pain as much as he can in order to gain just some control, and in turn, pushes gon away. in ep. 116, gon does the same thing to him.

they def feel like parallels. like i said, not one-on-one, but very similar !! the fact that killua & gon are further apart and that gon’s completely faced away in the ep. 116 parallel compared to ep. 98 where they’re closer and killua is still facing/looking at gon makes me so sad 😭😭 symbolism of characters separating further and further apart is the best and the worst.

basically... gon & killua love each other very much, but that love isn't always healthy on account that they are very traumatized and immature children who both have a constant need for control and to "fix" things by themselves and are afraid of facing their true feelings, which leads them to them lashing out & hurting each other & themselves lol. we love self destructive, codependent best friends !!

I'm happy to answer, thank you very much for asking! I'm indecisive and overflowing with love for HxH, so doing rankings is a challenge for me, but I put some thought into it and here are my answers for now!

Top 5 Characters:

5. Biscuit Krueger -- It's fun how Bisky isn't at all what you'd assume when we meet her character (in a few different ways), and I love her sassy attitude! She has a lot of different sides to her, and I find her very entertaining. Her strong personality makes how she plays off other characters especially amusing. I like that she can be somewhat cranky, self-serving, and rude at times, but she also has a softer and caring side to her. I look forward to seeing more of her role in the current arc!

4. Neferpitou -- I adore Pitou's design, and the combination of how sinister and also cute they are simultaneously, which is fitting of a very powerful cat (ant). I enjoy their mischievous and playful side as well! Their growth as a character throughout Chimera Ant Arc is so moving to me, and such a vital part of the arc and the message of the series as a whole.

3. Kurapika -- He's a great second protagonist for the series! The dichotomy of the brutality and darkness of his revenge/recovery mission and what succeeding at that requires from him, and his underlying gentle and polite demeanor are interesting to watch play out. I'm both excited and nervous to see what Togashi has in store for the rest of his arc...

2. Gon Freecss -- He's only very, very narrowly in second place, I adore him deeply and he and Killua are undoubtedly my two favorite characters of all time (from anything). I love how he initially seems to be a normal, cheerful, and strong-willed shounen protagonist, but as you go further in the story and look deeper into his character it becomes increasingly clear how unique and well-written he is. There's so much nuance to him and he's such a fulfilling character to explore and think about, I never get tired of it. Plus, of course he's adorable!

1. Killua Zoldyck -- I mean, who doesn't love him? He's such an incredibly multidimensional, fun, heartwrenching, fantastic character. His emotional growth throughout the series is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in a piece of fiction. His character design is so simple and yet so precious and iconic. There are tons of little touches to his character that contribute to making him feel so well-rounded and genuine. He and Gon utterly captured my heart my first time through the series and haven't let go even slightly.

Honorable mentions: Leorio, Alluka, Senritsu, I could go on and on... Togashi is a master at writing characters!

Top 5 Series Moments:

5. Gon and Killua on Whale Island -- I absolutely love the Whale Island episodes/chapters, they're such a reprieve from the many harrowing things going in the series otherwise, and it's wonderful to see Gon and Killua becoming closer. Their talk under the stars is such an important moment for them, setting the tone for their relationship going forward. I love thinking about all the fun they must have had that we don't see when they're on Whale Island, because they were there for a while and we only see a bit of it. These episodes/chapters are something I come back to a lot for comfort, and in the future I'm hoping we'll get another scene that echoes the scene under the stars...

4. "It has to be Killua." (From the dodgeball match.) -- There are so many layers to this scene, I love the complexity of it. From Gon's romantic-coded words towards Killua, Killua's very non-platonic response, and the contrast with Killua getting hurt on Gon's behalf, but it's because of Gon's respect for Killua's desire to help him at all costs... It's difficult to even summarize all the layers of what's going on without going deep into meta, it's a great microcosm of both the love and trust between the two, and some of the issues between them beginning to pop up, too.

3. The initial confrontation between Gon and Pitou/"It has nothing to do with you." -- The intensity of this scene is off the charts, both in the manga's incredible inked portrayal and the 2011 anime (with some of the absolute best voice acting I've ever seen in the hundreds of anime I've watched). Watching Gon lose control the way he does is chilling, and meanwhile we witness Pitou's growth as a character and the deep pain and conflict Killua faces. It's a difficult read/watch for sure, but an absolute turning point in the series and for the characters involved, and it's brilliantly executed and tragic.

2. Meruem and Komugi's lover's suicide -- This scene has made me cry hard so many times, it's beautiful and iconic and the absolute perfect climax to the Chimera Ant arc. One of the best and most heartwarming/heartbreaking scenes simultaneously I've ever seen.

1. "Gon, you are light." -- This scene was a major turning point for me when I watched the series the first time, and I still think it's an incredibly amazing and painful scene that says so much with so little. It's not just about Killua's increasingly hard to deny love for Gon, but also his self-esteem issues and how he sees himself in comparison to Gon, Killua's guilt over what happened to Kite, his denial of the cruel reality of what's happening because he deeply wants to see the optimistic way Gon does... And then of course with the scene going straight to Pitou holding Kite's decapitated head, it's really a gut punch.

This was difficult for me because there are SO many fantastic moments in HxH, I could easily make a top 20 or 30 and still not run out of scenes I adore. Of course, loving Gon and Killua's dynamic as much as I do, I go back to their scenes over and over again, and so that's what I'm focusing on here in my ranking. But there are tons of scenes not centered around them at all or only centered on one or the other that I also deeply love, and it's hard to leave all those out!

It's midnight and i can't sleep so I'm going to write a hxh essay that I've had in my brain for literally half a year. And like, I'm sure people have said this better than me before, but i literally can't have it in my brain anymore i need to write it down.

Ok so we all know that hxh is about love right?? It's the core theme of the series and it's also the message, Right? I really hope I'm not hallucinating lmao.

Gon only survives pitou because he had people that loved him, because killua was willing to go against his whole family for him, because morel and knov respected and appreciated him, because leorio thought of him as family.

Kurapika survived the massacre because he loved pairo, and wanted to cure him. He wanted to go back to his family and he wanted pairo to be able to see. He left because he loved him and he the chose vengeance because of it too. He loved everyone so much he just couldn't take it.

Leorio wants to become a doctor because he loved Pietro, because he couldn't do anything to save him and he wants to prevent that pain for other people. Because he is considerate and caring and kind.

Love is literally everything in life and i will die on this hill.

But also, they way they deal with loss is also so so important.

Gon grows basically alone, and it seems like he takes it well, but we all know he is seriously fucked up in the head. He looks for answers and he wants to meet ging. He wants to what's so good and important about a hunter that it would be better than raising him. And like this might have a lot to do with the fact that I'm literally fatherless, but i understand that, i understand that need to know why you were abandoned.

And killua has to deal with the loss of his childhood, the trauma of abuse. And he seeks freedom, he seeks another family, people to rely on, who will fight for him and give him the option to choose, to draw away when it's too much.

And kurapika can't take the loss, he just can't deal with the fact that he was left alone that day that he returned. And of course he can't, he just suddenly lost literally everything and everyone he loved. And he was so, so young, that i don't blame him for avoiding the pain by choosing vengeance. Ultimately the vengeance is for him to run away from the pain, the anger is a distraction from the fact that he loved.

And leorio instead seeks to change things in some way. He finds himself powerless in a system that values more money than life, and is punched in the face with the fact that helping is also for the privileged, because med school is very fucking expensive. So he is forced to put himself in literal mortal danger to access an education. He wants to prevent further pain but he ultimately can't because the problem is the system that he lives in.

And i think that's why most antagonists in hxh are at least a little morally gray. Because even if Gon defeated pitou, he was selfish and stupid and damaged his most precious relationship. Kite was going to be fine regardless of his pain and regret. The problem was that he was in an unfair situation where there was literally no way to win.

Even if killua wants to be something else, he couldn't help that he was born into that family, that his society called for a system of solving problems that relied on violence. He was doomed since the day he was born by the power his family had and the way they perpetuated their place is society.

And kurapika is right in wanting to punish chrollo, he did very much kill a lot of people, but even if he gets rid of him and all the phantom troupe, they will just be replaced because the material reality of the place they came from would have stayed the same. He is quite literally just killing himself on a fools errand because in the end he would have solved literally nothing. The people he loved are still dead, there is still a literal garbage city and genocide is still being done, just by different people.

I think the thing that gives them strength is not the goal, but the companionship, the love and care of others.

That's why Gon was healed, and why killua took alluka away, and why kurapika was arguably happiest when he was with them, and why leorio keeps fighting.

They will achieve nothing if they separate because we can't live alone. No one is independent because that's just not what we are for, we were made to have families and friends and love. And it is shitty to lose people, but you won't be alone forever.

Kurapika gets away from leorio because he is afraid to have something else that can be taken from him, but he fails to realize that without friends and love we are nothing. He is miserable and empty because he refuses to let anyone in.

And like. Idk man. That's just. It's just so much. Like, yeah! Family is love! Care and understanding and loyalty!!! Devotion and selflessness!!!! I'm literally SOBBING.

⎝ 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚:: here is your request! the beginning feels a bit like a one shot, I hope you don’t mind! It’s a bit of a special request but one that I loved doing! It’s funny as a French person to make such American requests ahah ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

➘ When you were 14, your family decided to move to a quaint little village in Japan. This change of country, culture, and language deeply affected you. You were not very happy to leave everything you knew behind. Even after three years, your accent was still noticeable, and you continued to struggle with Japanese, despite all the efforts you made to improve.

➘ These three years in Japan were marked by ups and downs. Your business flourished, and you became a popular and respected figure in the region. However, a new species of ants disrupted your life, destroying part of your crops and tarnishing your reputation. Despite this setback, you remained hopeful about rebuilding your empire and were determined not to give up. When a group of Hunters came to ask you to evacuate, you initially refused firmly, aware of the risks your precious animals would face. Eventually, feeling lost and overwhelmed, you sat on a hay bale, silently crying, until two young boys, Gon and Killua, came to offer their help.
