Me: Anyone ever think about how because Tyler was tricking her, he accidentally ended up as the one person who was seeing Wednesday for who she is and not who everyone wanted her to be? Specifically not who he wanted her to be, because he didn’t even have another image of her to fall back upon? Weems saw her as trouble/her Mother, Gates underestimated her, Sheriff Galpin only saw her Father, Xavier as his childhood hero, Enid blatantly assigned her a social mask but Tyler looked her full in the face and took her as she was? From their first meeting to their last, seeing Wednesday as she is, as she comes, all her dark edges and bright ideas and meeting her as an Equal Opponent, never underestimating her, never covering her up…. Just her. Only her. (And that in turn blinds her to who he is, until she pulls his mask off by accident).

Since book 7 part 5 (the part where we meet Meleanor/Maleanor 👀) is coming to EN this month, i would love to see your take on lilia’s proposal to meleanor! i mean they were like little kids right? it couldn’t have been that serious…i think the only reason she even brought it up again is because she could tell lilia still genuinely loved her…(even if he didn’t realize it himself?) but, oh well! Let’s think about silly childhood shenanigans to numb the pain! ^_^ (orz)

I chickened out of posting the whole thing (look, I get VERY carried away when it comes to these wacky kids and their Tragedy), but I do believe that it probably ended with Lilia getting embarrassed and just shoving the first thing he sees into his mouth to try and cover for it.

no because the thing about rupert is that he has been making terrible choices for years. he’s lost his passion, he’s lost his family, he fills his life with səx to get by, to feel something good. and then taggie shows up and she’s just so kind and sweet and beautiful and the realest thing rupert’s ever laid his eyes on. angel, he calls her, because that’s what she is to him. so of course he wants her. but that’s not all, because for the first time in forever, rupert has a reason, a push to want to be better. have you noticed how every time taggie is upset about something that happened or something he did, he immediately does everything he can to make up for it? It’s because before her, he didn’t care—or didn’t want to care—about hurting people or doing the wrong thing. but taggie makes him want to be good. for her. for himself. he is fully aware of his feelings for this young woman he cannot keep his eyes off, and when he seeks out cameron again it’s purely because he thinks he can never have taggie…but try as he might, he’s not able to move on. and taggie??? her mother considers her an idiot, her father considers her a little girl, she’s trying to find out what her place is, where she fits in, and rupert is the only person in her life that is completely encouraging and who believes in her potential (see how he compliments both her cooking and says she’s good with the campaign). he’s the only person who sees she’s twisting herself every which way to make everyone happy, and he’s the first to tell her she doesn’t have to be perfect all the time. and she’s fascinated, obviously, but it’s more than that. It’s rupert being silly to make her laugh, it’s her face falling when she realizes he has yet again been with another woman, it’s her anger when she finds out declan told rupert not to touch her. but they gravitate towards each other, because they’ve come into each other lives at exactly the right time. gosh season 2 cannot come fast enough

During a case many years ago, a witch made a poppet (roughly equivalent to the popular conception of a “voodoo doll”) of Edwin. They defeated the witch soundly and got the poppet, but there’s no safe way to destroy it. The only place Edwin and Charles trust as safe enough to keep it is inside Charles’s backpack, where no one but Charles could possibly get to it.

Charles largely forgets about it, buried deep deep down in the bag, until Edwin is held captive, less than a year after their jaunt to Hell, and there’s absolutely no way to get to him until the portal opens again at the next full moon, and he’s going crazy with worry, imagining Edwin in all sorts of misery without Charles not even able to so much as comfort him. He’s digging mindlessly through the bag when he gets to the poppet, and, he realizes, there is this one thing he can do.

He pulls it out with a care he wouldn’t give to a Faberge egg, because this is the most precious thing in the world, in any world, and looks at it for a moment. Then he reaches out ever so gently and strokes its hair. He murmurs reassurances to it - it’s alright, I’m sorry, I love you. He sings lullabies, curls around it and hugs it against him so, so carefully, tilts his head down and presses kisses to its soft curl-covered head.

He doesn’t let the poppet go for even a moment on all the days until the full moon returns, even as he’s preparing for battle, preparing to absolutely fucking obliterate the bastards that are holding Edwin.

Just as the portal opens, he finally places the poppet back in his bag, in the safest, warmest corner. He hefts the arsenal in his arms and strapped to his back and floating around him and charges through.

He tears through the stronghold in minutes, and he does literally mean through - he’s left a trail of smoking rubble behind him where ghost-proof walls used to be - and finally, finally gets to Edwin, and -

“Ah, Charles, there you are. Not to worry, I’m quite alright. There has been some sort of force - “

Charles doesn’t even hear him as he wraps himself around Edwin, and his body follows the same motions it has for weeks now, stroking hair, pressing kisses, murmuring muffled you’re alright I love you you’re alright I’m sorry I love you I’m sorrys into Edwin’s hair, which is even softer in reality than on the poppet, and Edwin says -

“Ah. That was you.”

Charles can’t see or hear anything other than Edwin, at the moment, but he can’t not see Edwin, so he has a very clear view as Edwin reaches his arms out and, with a few words, takes control of all the magical weapons and orbs and so forth that have been trailing after Charles.

And he hears when Edwin says “Well, then, Charles, shall we depart?”

And he feels it when Edwin lifts him as effortlessly as he lifted the poppet, holding him so he can keep his nose buried against Edwin’s neck as Edwin blasts his way out.

And he definitely feels it when, a few very loud minutes later, they’re back in their office, and Edwin’s head turns to meet one of his kisses.

“It’s alright, Charles. I’m sorry I left you alone. I love you.”

I can’t stop thinking about Siffrin and Loop as the knife’s edge between self-love and self-hatred.

To realize that there is a part of you that no one will ever recognize. That you can be so violent towards yourself and so compassionate, that there is a world where you destroyed everything you ever loved and a world where you were saved. To look at yourself and see that you have changed, are changing, every moment of every day, but some things remain the same. To know that you can try to kill the person you once were, but they won’t ever go away. Not really.

To find happiness and solace while knowing that there is still a part of you, somewhere, that is broken and lonely and unreachable, that may not ever know that kind of peace. At the same time, to feel like the people around you love some other version of yourself, someone brighter and better, someone you will always feel disconnected from. In both cases, to resent that broken part of you, that better version of yourself.

To discover, too late, that you can’t do this alone. You need people, certainly. You need people who care about you, who will look for you when you are lost, who will reach out to you in darkness. But even more so, you need the ability to call for help, to guide your people towards you. You need the will to save yourself.

And calling for help is an act of love. And regretting your mistakes is an act of love. And despising the things that have caused you pain is an act of love. It is looking out at the world, eyes narrowed, hands balled into fists, and believing, deep down, that you don’t deserve to suffer. And love is fierce, violent, and destructive. And love begets violence. And there is such a thin boundary between love and hate.

Loop loved Siffrin, and hated him. Siffrin loved Loop, and hated them. As they both loved and hated themselves. As they loved and hated themself.

And looking at your own reflection, at the wrong you have done, and offering forgiveness? Refusing, in the end, to continue to harm yourself? Acknowledging the role you played in your own suffering, and understanding that this does not invalidate the pain you felt back then? The pain you will always feel?

That is an act of love.

I don’t know why, maybe because I’ve been on a Garp kick lately.

But I do really think that Garp kind of became like a surrogate Uncle to the Roger boys and by extension Mihawk. Like I can just imagine Roger telling them that if they were ever separated from the crew or if something ever happened to him or Ray and they needed help they should go to Garp (I mean he entrusted his own baby to him it makes sense he’d also entrust his boys)

(for whatever reason Mihawk got this talk too despite him already traveling by himself and not being officially part of Rogers crew. But since Ray adopted him he’s Roger’s brat as well)

All this to say that Garp takes his uncle duties very seriously and what is an uncle if not an inconvenience and an embarrassment?

So Ofcourse he pulls up to Kuriagina during the timeskip (Hawain shirt and all) to visit his new grand babies (read Perona and Zoro) that he’s heard so much about. (read shanks immediately gossiped with him abou mt after stumbling upon them last time he came to visit Mihawk)

And because Garp is essentially the one piece equivalent of Florida man, this goes well for absolutely nobody

Except Zoro who is nothing if not a troll. And game must recognize game.

The monkeys love him tho, he communicates with them on a wavelength nobody can quite understand least of all Garp.

I've noticed there's a whole subgenre of Danny Phantom fics that will have Jack and Maddie be bad parents and I hate it since it feels like a a disservice to their characters. The two aren't perfect by any means and they make plenty of mistakes, but they love their kids more than anything else with them more than willing to risk their own lives to protect them. This is also why I've never vibed with fics that have Danny's parents rejecting or disowning Danny due to being half-ghost because for them to do something like that would be incredibly out of character. Hell, the show has several instances in which when they do learn Danny's secret, they don't love him any less with them fully accepting him.

I so desperately wanna know what lee sookyung and persephone's relationship is like. they share a son, I have GOT to know how lsk feels about that. is there grief that her son allowed himself to be adopted by another set of parents, when he struggles to connect with her? is she relieved that he has someone at all? does she try to tell persephone stories about his childhood, only to find there's only a small pool of stories she can tell, the rest of them colored by suffering and her absence? did they mourn him together?

Seeing the flashbacks in 7x08 sheds so much light on Bobby's reaction to certain events during the show.

Why Bobby treated Buck the way he did after the embolism and the lightning strike. It's so much more than just being an overprotective parental figure.

The first time was this fear that Buck was in front of him, coughing up blood and dying. He couldn't save his father from dying, but he sure as hell could try and save Buck. And do everything in his power to make sure he remains safe and out of danger.

And then Buck dies after being struck by lightning. He sits vigil at his bedside when he knows there's a chance that Buck will pull through. And he comes back. So, of course, this time, he treats him differently; of course, he overcorrects and gives him slack in his performance review. Of course, he's gentler with him, Buck woke up. And his father didn't.

Their relationship is so complicated in that Bobby views Buck as his son, but he's also been this trigger for the trauma he experienced with his father.

What happened with his father also reinforces why Bobby struggled so much with being unable to sus out Jonah. Bobby put on his headphones and didn't notice what was happening in his house.

Every Day I think about the tension between okarun and jiji after momo almost gets got by the evil eye. like there are so many scenes immediately following that where nothing is even said or really indicated but the vibe shift between them is PALPABLE. and it’s so interesting to me bc we as the reader know that from okarun’s side this is in large part bc he’s beating himself up about how he needs to be stronger to be a better guard dog, but none of this ever really gets made clear to jiji so he just sees his crush hurt at his hands and one of his best friends gone distant in the aftermath. and the added dimension of the momo of it all really fascinates me bc like, it also ends up kind of being this moment where it becomes sort of obvious that momo will almost always come first for okarun in a lot of ways. like you can just feel how in these moments jiji feels like an outsider looking in at the two of them, and how that hurts him.
