wow eternally grateful to Mav for fixing something in me (the deep-seated anxiety of being embarrassed in public) by being the most best boy (the most endearingly embarrassing animal to ever go in public)

i can't stop thinking about the first episode of season 6, when sam tries to convince dean to come with him, to come back to hunting. he says "it's just better with you around, that's all." it's an interesting line because sam is soulless, obviously. and even though he doesn't understand the details yet, he knows something's wrong with him.

"it's better with you around" he says, citing dean's compassion and care for others as the reason why. and how interesting is that? sam's working with plenty of other hunters who still have their souls—they're all more than capable of caring about the people they save. but sam needs dean specifically. he knows he's missing something, and he sees dean and recognizes that something in him. even cold and calculating and unrelentingly logical, sam recognizes that dean, alone, can "complete" him, give something back to him that he's supposed to have.

in episode 8 he tells dean he "needs his help." he doesn't elaborate; he never explains what he means by that. he has a whole family of hunters who'd be willing and able to help him, but still he needs dean. even without his soul, his hyperrational mind knows he needs him.

soulless sam isn't capable of caring about dean. but he doesn't need to care to know they need to be together, no matter what—to know dean is good for him, dean completes him, dean needs to be there for him.

it's like a sick reversal of season 1. sam drags dean back into this life because he can't keep going without him. because he needs him. because when you think about it logically, and sam has no other choice, there was never any other option for them.

There's something funny yet tragic about people viewing Micah as such an embodiment of evil that even in one of his most vulnerable and human moments, when he asks Mary-Beth for a dance - hesitating beforehand, stuttering as he speaks, weakly protesting that he's "not a monster", then walking away visibly dejected by her rejection - they'll still find some way to spin it into him being a master manipulator or something

not to be sooo insanely sappy on main but there’s something so beautiful about the intergenerational life of stories. did you know their are fairy tales older than civilizations. my mother told this story to me and i tell it to you and off it goes forever and ever. there’s a thumbprint of you in every tale you drift through did you know that?

thinking about how. in all the sludge of mascot horror games made just to sell merch and get big on youtube there’s one gem that’s a harrowing and horrifying story about a poor black family getting taken advantage of and exploited by a company who doesn’t even see them as human. about a little black girl who had her childhood taken away and wasn’t even allowed to be a little girl. about a black man who was likely killed by this company and then accused of “abandoning his daughter”. about a library and a neighborhood getting gentrified in the background.

and then people went and whitewashed her and said “i can draw her how i want”

Had a v crispy 5am walk and saw my favourite Christmas house was all decorated! Its a cute little bungalow near me that always has the prettiest lights up along the house and in the garden and a beautiful wreath on the door. It just looks so cosy and festive!

#rat rambles #oxygen not included #screenshots are from the steam page #there is ofc a Lot to unpack here gameplay wise and Im guessing some things will be tweaked design wise but Im lore pilled so.#anyways Im not sure how I feel abt this dupe's design but I will still welcome them with open arms hello #but more important here to me is the pod #because erm. thats a very very different looking pod.#I dont wanna jump to any conclusions or speculate too hard because chances are its just olivia getting new drip #but like. what if its not. what if this is like a new new printing pod #I assume that if it is a new pod then olivia will like be able to connect with it somehow but idk #because it rly depends on how ambitious theyd wanna be with this dlc given that to rly make a new pod thats super not olivia theyd have to #do a lot of work to make that change prevelant in the rest of the gameplay #now chances are if it is a new pod its one that doesn't have a human consciousness inside it #even if it was there rly arent many options for who it could be and no good options from a narrative standpoint #now this pod looks quite gutted so maybe it is just a normal printing pod that got kicked back online when olivia sent some guys to kick it #now heres the most negative thing Ill say abt these screenshots. the fox critters are rly ugly imo #I like the bunny guys tho WAUTWIATSWAUT WAIT #ARE THEY THE SAME SPECIES AS THE ANCIENT SPECIMEN SKELETON?#I dont think they line uo perfectly if I remember correctly but the big one has the same tusks and is also yknow big and fat like the #specimen is described to be in tbe story trait logs #Im willing to bet so much that theyre at least related in some way #maybe the one that was initially sent back in time was used as a basis for these guys or smth #my main reason for saying this is that I have to imagine these guys have to have some other purpose than being data storage #its seems that you can shave their coats which is probably the main thing but I imagine they probably drop a good amount of meat too #also important to note that they are grazers which is good to know #also I think the upside down plant is going to be this planet's muckroot equivalent #oh and for the fox deer I assume theyll be farmed for their antlers which will probably shed wood or smth #not a clue what the new plants will do but idrc #Ill care abt the gameplay after I get my new lore <3

Fell back asleep for a while (still have a horrible headache btw) and I had the most disturbing dream that I'm going to tell you guys about in the tags

#so i was on a road trip with a bunch of people i dont even know and there were like 10 of us packed into a van #and they were so fucking loud and my head was hurting even in my dream so i was like CAN EVERYONE PLEASE SHUT THE FUCK UP #and we get to this hotel or like house place thats like a hotel #amd we go inside and i go check the fridge and there was a thick lemonade snoothie looking drink in this clear pitcher in the fridge #and i pulled it out and look inside and there was a live fucking lizard in there all covered in the smoothie stuff trying to escape #and i was like damn i should let that outside in a minute #but i went to looks for meds first bc like i said my head was hurting even in my dream #and when i come back the pitcher is empty (no lizard no smoothie stuff)#and i was like ...... did someone drink this??#and this guy was like nah that was cake batter i put in the oven #and i was like YOU FUCKING PUT IT WHERE????#so i get this sheet pan out of the oven and there is a half baked cake and in the middle was the lizard all charred and dead looking #and i was like fuck dude you killed it #but then #BUT THEN #the fucking lizard gets up and jumped out of the cake batter and starts speed running around the place like up on the walls and ceiling #and it seemed pissed as hell #like rightfully so bc someone tried to bake it into a cake but still #so i was running around trying to stay away from it bc i got the impression that it would bite whoever it got close to #and then i woke up and for a second it felt like something was crawling on me #and i had a small/brief panic as i checked the bed for any lizards (there was nothing there)#and now im awake and my head hurts even worse and my throat hurts and my body hurts and its very possible that im sick
