[ID: Digital illustration in color of Vash and Wolfwood from Trigun Maximum. It’s two 3 panel comics that illustrates the same sequence. The first focuses on Vash. In the first panel, he’s in a hurried motion with a worried expression. In the second, he’s stopped, huffing a breath out as he’s scanning for Wolfwood (not pictured). In the final panel, he breaks out into a relieved smile, eyes lighting up with warm cheeks.
The second comic focuses on Wolfwood. In the first panel, he’s looking downwards to the right with a cigarette in his mouth, wearing a neutral expression. On his face are notable scratch marks to indicate him being in a fight prior. In the second panel, he turns towards the viewer, lifting his head as he notices Vash (as from the previous sequence). In the final panel, he smiles warmly with teeth and holds up a peace sign. END ID]

[ID: Sketchy black and white drawings of Vash and Wolfwood, continuing off the comic. Wolfwood’s back is to the viewer while Vash’s profile can be seen, now by Wolfwood’s side. He has a bright smile as he says to Wolfwood, “You’re safe!” Wolfwood responses, bearing a grin too, “Who do ya think yer talking to? ‘Course I am. Look, I got them alive.” He points to two figures who are tied up and have comically large head bumps. Vash looks to them with an uncertain expression as he says, “Oh! You did, huh… Are you sure they’re alive?” Wolfwood, with a more irritated expression, responds “What, didn’t think I could do it?” Vash says, “No, no! I knew you could!” and pats Wolfwood on the cheek and his head comfortingly. END ID]

oh yeah, i think it's important to differentiate between the ideas of a "jewish ethnostate" and a "jewish homeland", as a jew myself especially --
of course we deserve a place where we feel safe, a place that puts emphasis on caring for us and not treating us like dirt. but that is not the same as a place that allows ONLY us to be there. (and we are talking about a mass of land, not an affinity club or anything -- we're talking about somewhere people live. who gets to be a part of it is not something you should be policing on lines of race or religion.) we have no right to lay claim to land and force other people out of it. we have no right to a jewish ethnostate.
"oh but if there are any non-jews in our land they'll treat us badly like they always have!!!" no, that's just cynical nonsense. if anything, you're letting the antisemites win by agreeing with the omnipresence of their bigotry. yes, tons of people have been horrible to us. that won't get better by running away from them and hurting other people in the process.
also, it is very worthy of note that jews and their ancestors have lived in palestine, for a great portion of history in fact, but were conquered multiple times by multiple empires and expelled to the diaspora. of course jews want to live in palestine! of course! but palestinians are just as indigenous to the land as we are -- we have absolutely NO right to kill them and kick them out and say it isn't their home (which is exactly what so many empires did to us, in the same land no less).
endorsing zionism and anti-palestinian rhetoric, as a jew, is hypocritical, cruel, and wrong. let palestine be free, as they (and we) deserve to be. they are facing the same terrors we have; let us stand with them.

Still can't get over the fact that after a year (two?) with the Empire, Scorch makes commander while Boss led one of the top commando squads for three years with the Republic and never got promoted passed sergeant.
#republic commando#honestly i've got an entire headcanon regarding commandos' lack of upward mobility in the ranks#originally they were organized to serve directly under the jedi and commanders would exist in a parallel hierarchy to infantry#which they still did mostly#but after losing half their number on geonosis and realizing the jedi didn't know what to do with them they had a massive restructuring#only a couple divisions- like kenobi's -got commando squads but to ensure they were deployed properly they needed their own officers#so clones like gregor were taken from the command track and crosstrained as commandos#i imagine first gen commandos have very mixed feelings about this because suddenly outsiders are in charge of them?#and scorch and fixer and sev resent it because on one hand boss was absolutely wasted as a sergeant#on the other hand they looked at a fucking alpha-arc-desk-jockey captain maze and knew boss would be even more wasted off the field#trying to imagine scorch's reaction to his meteoric rise in rank suddenly leading hundreds of commandos and TKs and no foreseeable fieldwor#'no! how could they do this to me the great and loveable scorch!'#sev would find it hilarious that they gave scorch that much responsibility but also#he went mia as a private and now the others are all officers what the fuck#probably would've been more hilarious if scorch hadn't already been on the verge of snapping from ptsd and having abandoned a brother#and knowing fixer and boss are held hostage to keep him in line just as he knows he's a hostage to keep them in line (headcanon)#these tags are now novels#i just have a lot of thoughts about commandos okay?

Exploring Ancient Cities: Kaunos
This city is definitely one of my favourite ancient cities as an archaeology student. Of course, all anicent sites have a story, and Kaunos isn't all that unique, considering the grand scheme of things... But since I've had the chance to personally visit it, and see it for myself, it has become one of my favourites. It is remarkably well-preserved and filled to the brim with archaeological evidence.
Kunos (Καῦνος), or in Latin, Caunus, is a city that was (according to mythology) was founded by Kaunos, son of the Carian King Miletus Kyane and grandson of Apollo.
It is located in Muğla Province, Türkiye.
The first mention of Kaunos can be found in Herodotus's “Histories”, in a retelling of the Persian General Harpagus's campaign against the Lycians, Carians and Kaunians during the Persian invasion in 546 BCE. He notes that the Kaunians resisted fiercely but were ultimately defeated. “The Lykians, when Harpagos marched his army into the plain of Xanthos, came out against him and fought, few against many, and displayed proofs of valour; but being defeated and confined within their city, they gathered together into the citadel (...) Harpagos obtained possession of Caunos, for the men of Caunos imitated in most respects the behaviour of the Lykians.” (Herodotus, 176)
Herodotus believed that the Kaunians were the original inhabitants of the area, despite the fact that the Kaunians themselves proclaimed that they originated from Crete. “It seems to me however that the Caunians are dwellers there from the beginning, though they say themselves that they came from Crete: but they have been assimilated to the Carian race in language, or else the Carians to the Caunian race, I cannot with certainty determine which.” (Herodotus, 172) This was because of the similarity between his own Carian language and that of the Kaunians. There were, however, great differences between the lifestyles of the Kaunians and their neighbours; the Carians and Lycians. One of the most obviously noticeable differences being their social drinking behaviour.  “They have customs however in which they differ very much from all other men as well as from the Carians; for example the fairest thing in their estimation is to meet together in numbers for drinking, according to equality of age or friendship, both men, women, and children.” (Heredotus, 172)
One could argue, however, the one thing that makes this city so special is the Bilingual Inscription that was found in it in 1996. It is thanks to this inscriptions that the Carian alphabet was deciphered, and philologists were able to under the language of the Carians, thus we were able to uncover many important things about Carian culture and history. While often seen as culturally distinct (by Herodotus), Kaunos had strong interactions with the Greeks. They adopted some Hellenic customs over time, particularly during the Hellenistic period.
Greek Influences:
After Xerxes I's defeat in the Second Persian War and the gradual retreat of the Persians from the western Anatolian coast, Kaunos became a member of the Delian League. Initially, the city was required to pay a modest tax of 1 talent, but by 425 BCE, this amount was increased tenfold. Kaunos had become a prosperous port by that time, likely because of the growth of agriculture and demand for Kaunian exports, such as salt, salted fish, slaves, pine resin, black mastic, and dried fish.
At this point, the city was leaning heavily into Hellenistic / Greek Influences, and its culture was shifting towards that direction as well. It is important to mention that Kaunos is a more revent name for the city, with its original name being “Kbid”, a Carian name. However, with increading Hellenistic influence, at around 4th Century BCE, it is named Kaunos.
General Info on the Archaeological Site of Kaunos
The Acropolis is located on a 152-meter-high rock and is fortified with Byzantine walls. The city's acropolis, known as Imbros, sits at the base of Mount Tarbelos (modern-day Mount Ölemez). Nearby the mountain is a smaller fortification called Heraklion.
The theater on the acropolis slope displays both Hellenistic and Roman architectural features. It has a diameter of 75 meters and was constructed at a 27-degree angle. With a seating capacity of 5,000, the theater is well-preserved and is still occasionally used for performances.
The site includes a palaestra with Roman baths, a wind-measuring platform, and a domed Byzantine basilica. Archaeological findings reveal that the palaestra was constructed over part of the old city, which was likely a former place of worship. The Roman baths, designed as a social gathering space, were intended to awe the Kaunians with their grand scale, showcasing the power of the Roman Empire. During the Byzantine period, the baths were dismantled, and the frigidarium was repurposed as a church.
The port agora, the stoa (walkways) and the nymphaeum (monuments dedicated to nymphs); The port agora is situated on the flat land in front of Sülüklü Lake. Dating back to the 4th century BCE, it served as an economic, political, and social hub until the end of the Roman era. Evidence of pedestals suggests that numerous (likely bronze) statues of prominent Romans once stood there, though none have been discovered. It is believed that these statues were melted down during the Byzantine period, as archaeologists uncovered a smelting furnace from that era near the pedestal of a bronze equestrian statue of Lucius Licinius Murena, the Roman governor of Asia.
Six temples have been excavated, including two from the Hellenistic period and four from the Roman era. The most remarkable is likely the terrace temple from the 3rd century BCE, which aligns with a circle of columns. An obelisk was found inside the circle, and it is also featured on ancient Kaunian coins. This obelisk symbolized King Kaunos, who, according to legend, founded the ancient city named after him.

@beegswaz genuinely i think my favorite tags on any of my work ever. i fucking love when people talk abt my characters like this
#its like blorbo from my show but with fucking minecraft and i love it deeply#for the record both Groda and White Eyes get socialized in the modern world like feral cats#both by the main players but it does happen at different times bc they all encountered Groda first when she held Rana hostage for bait#she'd kinda gone crazy after all those years of isolation lol#did that bc she thought Herobrine was the knight who betrayed her during the time period where people were wanting to overthrow her#(the knight worked for the royal family and was one of Groda's childhood friends. that did not last needless to say)#thankfully at the end of the day all 4 of the main players managed to get out alive though not unharmed with Groda in tow#when there's something trying to kill you every other day in this universe though they honestly cant be too mad about it#it doesnt help that Groda is just Really Stupid sometimes (all the time)#she's literally Peridot from SU in that she seems really intimidating but in hindsight is a massive dork#and also the fact that is the voice i imagine her having its so good#once her ability to use magic is taken away she's literally just like a scared feral street cat. does not know what the FUCK is going on#also rendering her communication with 3/4ths of the players useless since she only knows Galactic and no one alive knows that but Herobrine#(not helping the coincidental similarities to the knight but thats not him) she'll learn commonspeak later tho#ironically later down the line when Groda is spotted by the cult getting her magic back will be a key part in taking down White Eyes#she really does want to change for the better but she needed a LOT of shit kicked into her in order to start actually making the change#that being said when White Eyes eventually gets integrated it IS On Sight#she has had to been quite literally pried of Groda AT LEAST once by the others in order to keep from killing her#but other than that she'll be okay :) she picks up painting eventually#her open wounds are finally able to heal over once released from the influence of the Wither but she's still scarred unfortunately#mentally and physically!#but its only up from here... right?#actually since I talked abt the players first encounter with Groda im gonna reblog that aftermath comic again it still fucks#minecraft au mastertag

i think part of what makes jgy so interesting to me is the way he manuevers or however tf you spell it himself in the political world. it's his method of survival and the horror that this is the way he has to survive- that the politics of the lanling jin are That Fucked Up- is something that i like really digging my teeth into. softening the things he did makes that less interesting to me honestly!
no yeah!! like i just think jgy is such a fun character and so even i tend to get defensive when he’s either 1) portrayed as like Purposely Malicious and like every single thing he does is with 100% villainous intent or 2) when Every Single Thing he does is approached with the take that he actually 100% didn’t do it and should face no narrative consequences whatsoever
(with irt jrs that’s more so my own defensiveness popping out bc people have also pointed out that there is not 100% surety and it’s “a-song had to die” being said by him vs. the Way jrs died being explained by the other sect leaders, which are known to gravitate towards mob mentality and banding together against “the common enemy”)
(and also even consequences is a loaded concept bc it then becomes abt Who is doling these consequences and what are they and what are they based on and etc etc etc)
which like all of this is to say that i fully confess to not being immune to defensiveness bc i am a jgy stan who does lean more towards jgy apologism but i think it’s like exactly what u say in that jgy feels he Has to do this to survive, which puts a lot of his decisions in such an interesting light bc it’s more than just “jgy is an evil man who does evil things” (esp bc i personally read a Lot of his decisions as being desperate/backed into a corner and not from a place of like. indifference/enjoyment)
tldr bc this is getting away from me and i’m getting to the point of rambling bc i can never make a coherent post abt jgy, i love him very much and i think he is one of those characters where u can lay out Everything abt him and clearly see how he got from point A to point Z

it's not just that, there's also the part where he's heavily invested in local politics with police/police reform, so in general both sides are probably going to think he's biased. he's also been falsely accused of murder several times? and not all of those were even disproven; people just stopped talking about it because in the end they couldn't completely pin it on him
not quite sure what to do with this hc, but it's pretty likely Bruce Wayne would be struck from almost any jury/jury duty simply because he's a crime victim, and a very prominent crime victim who would taint the jury pool simply by being there. and even if it was a civil jury, he'd probably be struck simply for being too prominent of a local figure with complicated investments/conflicts of interest.

I like to imagine Dick just drops information about his life like how Alexis does in Schitt’s Creek, and the batfam is just like whaaaa, but he cuts them off before they can ask more questions.
*They just rescued Dick who has been held hostage for months*
Dick: So, this is weird. Today kinda marks the longest kidnapping I’ve had.
Tim: Kinda.
Dick: Yeah. The actual longest kidnapping I’ve been involved in was a three month kidnapping. But for the last two months of that I was debating becoming his apprentice to save my friends. Anyway-
*Bruce is forcing everyone to play two truths and a lie because he read that it was a good bonding opportunity*
Dick: My eyes are green. My suit is blue and black. And one time, I was stuck in the desert for a week with a random baby and I was able to get the baby to safety, but the two people I was with couldn’t make it very far.
Bruce: This is supposed to be easy, Dick.
Alfred: His eyes are blue, Master Bruce.
*Jason was kidnapped and it took longer than usual to find him*
Dick: Ever since Jason went back to his apartment you guys have been so dramatic. Do I have to remind you of the time I was taken hostage by Joker for weeks and no one answered my calls?
Everyone is too flabbergasted and Dick changes the subject so fast they can’t even ask him questions.
