ok so I was rewatching episode 4 of season 2 yesterday and my mum ended up arriving back home at the start of the whole kaz taking down pekka scene and she was so invested but because she has never watched the show she thought kaz was the bad person and had killed alby and I had to pause it right after and explain how no he's not a bad person he's just very traumatized and has a lot of anger and everything about him and his backstory and then I skipped to the wesper scene and my mum was just say there looking so happy like she has no idea who these characters are aside from my lil rundown of their first meeting and stuff but she sat there doing the "these are now my children" look and it made me so happy

I did then dump my entire hyperfixation on her and rant about the crows for a solid hour but I think I've concerted her

That's the only way she could describe it, if she possessed the kind of mind poetic enough to even look for words to describe the soul she can suddenly feel glow and bloom each day within her chest.

Life returned to her, with a gaze, with a moniker, with Calista's attention, with her manner of speech that has evolved from the rage-filled bites they would scream into one another's lungs to this, something still out of place in the contemporary, modern world, but so very her that Sarang's heart picks up a beat she hadn't thought it still capable of whenever she reads a passage of a book that reminds her of her speech patterns.

And she does this a lot.

Watches herself press her fingers into pages, dragging her nails below words that might have been spoken by her, given the right circumstances, and watches herself press her fingerprints as deeply into the paper as they may go.

She seeks her out in the night and in the day both, seeks her out in things that remind her of her and in things that have nothing to do with her.

Most of all, she seeks her out away from civilisation.

There were nature's heart beats loudest, there is where she feels she's closest to her when they're apart.

They'd met on a battlefield, after all. Away from civilisastion. Blood and fading heartbeats all around them, the very ground pulsating beneath their advancing feet, along their blades, forcing Sarang to become half a swordswoman just to keep pace with her.

Maybe they'd been walking along an artery all along.

Sarang turns to watch her life speak and tries to not ler gaze track where she believes Calista's artery to possibly be too evidently. It's not a predator's assessment anymore, though she can't say she doesn't sometimes feel the urge to bite either way.

Just to have her near.

Feel her all around, wrap her teeth around Calista or bear her throat to have Calista bite into her.

As defiance to the humans she describes. As defiance to the Order. As defiance to existence as a whole.

"You need not ask, my heart," she slips easily into a mimicry of Calista's speech patterns, as though she couldn't bear to be separated from her via the modern touch of her slang.

"You need only take me there and I will teach you all you wish to learn and more," she reaches out, undamaged fingers that have killed enough to be ripped and torn in soul, wrapping around Calista's wrist, grazing along her skin to hold loosely onto her fingers.

"I will teach you how to aim for all those places you have already hit me in," there's a glint in her eyes as she guides Calista's hand to hover her eye, one freed still so she may keep regarding her.

"In my eyes, for robbing me of sight until I get to lay them on you;" she guides her hand to her throat, "to my throat, where my voice is, who's trying all she may to be near you, and find ways to utter my devotion to life with you in it and only with you in it."

She rests her hand against her front, where her heart never ceases to beat.

"In my heart, because you are very skilled at what you do," she tilts her head to one side, playful and glowing, alive.

"Consider it my gift to you on this day. This and everything else you may wish from me, body and soul."
