Ironically the hellhole that’s stealing Carmen’s fucking soul is the place he falls in love with you. He’s been trying to source cheap organic produce for The Beef ever since he came back to Chicago and he’d found this eco-friendly little urban farm not too far away from the restaurant that’s willing to sell him their seasonal overflow for  next to nothing. It’s a win win because you deplore wastage and he needs the discount.

When you arrive at the back door with his order he has no fucking clue why you’re here because it’s late Christmas Eve and everyone else in the world is sending time with their families. Instead you’re standing in front of him, bundled up in a navy blue hat with a pompom with a matching scarf over your white quilted jacket.

“Christ, get in here.” He says tugging you inside because it’s minus who the fuck knows outside and he’s terrified you’ll freeze to death. “Why the fuck are you out in this? You should be tucked up somewhere warm with your family.”

“Because you asked me to asshole.” You reply, tugging off your hat so that your hair falls loose across your rosy features. “You called me up at stupid o'clock because you wanted pears for some seasonal shit you were trying out.”

“Shit.” He says, taking the box from you, because honestly he thought he dreamt that but now he realises he had another dissociative episode. They’ve starting to happen more and more recently since Mikey’s death. He wakes up and he finds himself doing weird shit, cooking plastic, re-organising the tins in his cupboard so they all face backwards, sorting his recycling into colours.

“Now we’ve ascertained why I’m here.” You say, stripping the gloves from your hands and tucking them into the pockets of your coat. “What are you doing here?”

“Christmas isn’t…” He hesitates because he’s thrown back into that last event, the one where Mikey was still alive, clutching that fork and his mother drove a car through the house. He doesn’t know how to explain something like that to you, someone who’s family isn’t as fucked up and dysfunctional as his is.

“I get it.” You say, your hand coming to rest on his arm and he finds himself staring down at it as your thumb traces lightly over the tattoo that’s etched onto his skin. “Christmas isn’t a great time for me either.”

He can’t remember the last time that someone touched him like this, with such care, such gentleness. Richie’s always clapping a hand on his shoulder, shifting him out of the way but it never feels like this. It doesn’t ignite something in his veins the way that yours does, it doesn’t sent a rush of heat flooding through his system.

“You wanna stay?” He asks you, tilting his head up to meet your gaze. “I’m about to make hot pear cider.”

You have such beautiful eyes, he’s never really noticed until now despite the fact he’s been in your company a handful of times. It’s a brilliant, rich hue that leaves him completely captivated as the edges of your mouth tip up into a smile. His heart palpitates in this chest because that smile, it makes something blossom inside of him, something that Carmen has never felt before in his entire life.

“That depends.” You say, your thumb trailing over the scar that resides alongside his tattoo. “Are you going to feed me too?”

“I’d cook you anything you damn well want.” He finds himself telling you before he captures himself, his cheeks flushing at the boldness of his words.

“Surprise me.” You say and he surprises you both by leaning and kissing you instead.

Your lips feel soft underneath his mouth, he can taste the strawberry lip balm, feel the press of your body against his as your fingers thread through his hair drawing him closer. He moans at the sensation because it’s been such a long time since he’s touched another human being like this and you, you make it feel like his entire body is on fire, like he’s burning from the inside out.

“Fuck, I’m sorry…” He says as he tries to pull away because he shouldn’t have done that, he knows he shouldn’t.

Your hands grip the fabric of his chef’s jacket, pulling him back towards you and he complies because this sensation he has, he wants to chase it, he wants to see where it goes, to hurtle head first into it.

“Don’t be.” You murmur, your fingertips ghosting along his cheek with a tenderness he doesn’t deserve. “We should do it again Carmy.”

I have a vague plot and a mushpile of ideas for this, bare with me ;3

mcr as items in my hospital's supply closet

ray: saline flushes. I am always needing one. I use them for every IV (they lock into the IV port!), for wound care, for flushing drains and irrigating catheters. understated humble hero. I keep them (rimages and flushes) on me at all times

mikey: 2x2 gauze pads. these mfers don't even come in individual sterile packaging, just one big package, so you cant use it for most wounds. it's just a bunch of tiny gauze. great to use with a bandaid after blood draws or IV sticks. kind of dinky to look at but serves an important specific purpose. kind of looks like a sleeve of saltines. just like Mikey does

frank: not really one thing, but the combination of a biohazard lab bag and large durapore tape. I cut the bag open at the bottom, stick someone's arm inside, and tape it on securely to let them shower without getting their IV wet. some hospitals have specific products for this but they are expensive. frank would vibe with the diy ethos of making your own medical equipment and also the bitch loves to shower

gerard: external catheter (for penis and vulva). these hook up to suction to keep patients who are incontinent clean and dry :) because I cannot imagine how difficult life would be without them <3 and. well.

hihi here to ask stuff about your iteration as a joke for you to answer as a joke!

what's up with the boys and draxum? were they made by draxum? were they raised just by splinter or by both of them?

do they know april and/or casey? how'd they meet?

who's the best cook and who's the worst? does any of them like baking? what about crochet? drawing or graffiti?

(future me here... i did NOT expect to write this much. sorry lol)

im gonna be honest i struggled with coming up with draxum's thing for a LONGGG time. but here's the gist (there's a longer explanation of yokai history in the first oneshot i posted for this au on ao3)- there was a huge yokai population in japan for centuries before a natural disaster and many immigrated overseas, leading to multiple communities mostly on coasts or big cities. most yokai settlements are closer to big human settlements- so there's a lot by la and nyc, but you're not exactly about to find any in lost springs, wyoming, with a population of like 6 people. or any yokai in wyoming at all.

focusing on nyc here, the average new yorker has heard about yokai, but they're more of an urban legend than anything. very similar to "the alligators in the sewers." as for their living situations, think the rise of the tmnt hidden city, but less "magical entrance to a metropolis below new york city" and more like the sewers in mutant mayhem's game "mutants unleashed" but a little more established.

okay, finally to draxum. he's known as a yokai scientist, but not like "renowned amazing life changing discovery scientist", but like. mad scientist vibes. he wanted to find out if there was a way to create yokai without reproducing naturally, because there's been some fear rising about the future of the yokai species, especially with safety and spacial concerns (what if they outgrow the underground? what if they're discovered by humans? what if there's not enough resources? yokai cant exactly just get a job on the surface). which eventually led to the "birth" of the turtles. kind of similar to the rise turtles creation, but they weren't made for war or anything.

draxum is overjoyed at first, but quickly realizes he can NOT raise children. draxum has known splinter for years, and knows he's been feeling lonely since his wife died so he kind of just... gives them to him. splinter doesnt really object. draxum realizes like 13 years later that handing over these kids to a depressed family friend with generational trauma wasnt exactly a good idea because now these kids are a little bit fucked up for life.

anyway, about 10 years later when leo is about 12, raph is almost 12, mikey's 10 and donnie's 9, he decides that he should actually be a part of their life. he was their creator after all, so he finally decides to take responsibility and check up on them. he and splinter co parent until, well. splinter dies when leo is 18. but we'll get to that lol

so, yeah. raised by splinter for like 9 years (which affected them all differently, because splinter's treatment was 100% not equal) and then raised by both until splinter kicks the bucket

ok. april and casey. yeah. they know those guys!

like i said earlier, the average new yorker knows has heard about the "animal people in the sewers." there's obviously a few dumb teens who go looking.

april and casey have been friends for YEARS, and they're both a little crazy, so they take it a little more seriously. anyway, they definitely find them!

splinters PISSED at the turtles for a while for becoming friends with them, but draxum tells him to cut that that shit out and let the turtles have actual friends (splinter and the turtles dont actually live that close to yokai 'society'. it's a while walk through the sewers. splinter doesnt really tell them there's more out there either, so... they grew up kind of isolated).

i havent totally flrshed out april or casey just yet so more on that to come. but yeah. they know those guys. and timothy. and in the future, karai.

i dont really see any of the turtles as a "bad cook", they all range from good to mediocre. but i guess at the end of the spectrum would be raph. mikey's the best because they like sweet treats and bakes them a lot. leo also likes to bake bread every once in a while just because he likes the smell, but he doesn't have a lot of free time for that so it's not often. donnie and mikey both like to crochet, but mikey is more fun, like plushes and granny square blankets and donnie is more functional, like bags and sweaters. raph LOVES graffiti and does it all the time after draxum gets spray paint. mikey is more of a doodler, but leo likes to draw when he has the time.

HAI BABY ^o^

today, we woke up preeeetty early! we did our usual thing of having a ciggie outside. then we did our morning routine, did our dailies, and ate. it was really good!!! we had strawberries with nutella and the strawberries were a lil frozen and it was so :3

we also took a really short nap and all three kiddos came out for it. it was suuuper cute! bao bao kept checking our phone to "see if papa messaged" and he was worried on if he would be able to read if jo did message us!! claire and yoyo were chattering to themselves. we told them that they're lando's girls and they got soooo happy!!! it was so cute!!! but then we woke up and started our day again.

we watched a lot of the basement yard! it's our new fav podcast rn. they remind us so much of mikey and tia!!! it's so cute. then you woke up and we got so excited!!! if we had a tail, we would wag it so often :333 even at moments u cant tell we're happy bc we're autistic.

and then we called!! it was sooo fun! one of the amis managed to draw something for dad and also our part of the base!! i think it looks rlly cute!! she was stressing about the everything tho but u guys reassured her so well :333 then u had to hang up and we want u guys to have fun but we miss u guys so bad :(((

we saw an ig reel u liked !!! it was smth like "me wanting to marry this person even though it's been one month" AND IT MADE US SO HAPPYYYYY!!!!! we love u guys sm :333 im not really good with words but we LOVE LOVE u guys!!!!

then we went grocery shopping! ngl i cant remember most of it but we got stuff for lunch at work :3333 and soda... and maybe some energy drinks... we might have a bit of a problem u_u a girl needs her little drink treat!!! and im tired of buying it at work and having no creamer or syrups!!!!

im so excited to cook!!! i can feel kev itching to make our ravioli rn!!!

Cheese is great. Personally, i can appreciate a good mozzarella every once in a while. Even if im not ballsy enough to chomp on a pound of if in one sitting. Being lactose intolerant would probably make me buy a golden toilet since i would rather die than give up dairy. How is lactose intolerance? Do you keep track of your dairy consumption with a chart? I think a bar graph would suffice. Or a pictograph. I like drawing cheese. Do you draw? I draw very often. I think the best thing about being an artist is that i can draw legible graphs. Especially in group projects, you’re always sought after because you can actually draw straight lines. How often do you use your writing abilities outside of fanfiction? Anything even related to these fanfictions are definitely not straight. I think the most straight thing i can think of is maybe Chad and Tara. Or Danny and Sam. Honestly amber was better. (team Tamber for life 😔) you cant forget Mia and Vada, they’re my favourite. When i first watched The Fallout i was pleasantly suprised. Do you prefer Tara and Amber or Mia and Vada?

thoughts/ideas that ive had with the rise turtles under the cut (btw its kinda long and its just me rambling. youve been warned)

ive had 2 ideas for aus. One of them is like a splatoon au and the other one ive just titled “bad ending”. I’ll elaborate a bit more on that lower but first the splatoon stuff:

ok so the turtles might be octolings just because I want to stay more lore accurate so ig living in a sewer would be the splatoon equivalent of being an octoling before splatoon 2 (and octo dlc) events (but I really wanna just make designs for both species for all brothers anywayssss)

also new idea I literally had while typing this but what if eye masks were color of masks. so like raph having a red eye mask, mikey have a orange one, etc

ANYWAYS ive already decided (for now) what weapons each brother uses:

-raph uses a splatling, probably a hydra. or maybe tenta brella

-donnie uses a charger or a blaster (but most likely the charger.

-leo uses any splatana. I dont think he’d care which one in particular

-mikey will either use a slosher deco (since it has zipcaster) or an inkbrush. uhhhh yea their ink would probably be different colors. maybe the ends of the hair would be tinted green though. or maybe during specials itd be the same colors for all of them. btw specials would be the same as using their ninpo

splinter would be like cuttlefish to the agents in regards to the turtles. so he’s not their biological father nor the same species but hes still a father figure. april would be an inkling

OH OH NEW THOUGHT. since in the show mikey would hide in his shell sometimes I think the splatoon equivalent of that would be going squid form (or in their case octopus form)

uhhh I havent watched the movie yet but I know a lot about it SO I guess that the equivalent of the krang in this universe would be like. mr grizz. I dont think itd be like a tartar type of infection because you can physically remove the krang from your body and once youre sanitized you cant remove it (unless its like an agent 3 thing) but personally I think an infection more like the fuzzy ooze would fit better because unlike getting sanitized it makes the victim feral WHICH has more similair behaviors to the krang than getting sanitized

OK NEXT IS THE “bad ending” au idea

again, havent watched the movie yet (trying to finish the tv show first, im on episode 14) but basically its an au where everything is bad and nothing is happy (<- could not for the LIFE of me figure out how to phrase it and ended up with this. sorry lol)

ill have to watch the movie to flesh out the events a bit more but what I have right now is that casey was never able to find/warn the turtles in time of krang invasion and that ended up with each of the turtle brothers getting corrupted. AGAIN. I WILL WATCH THE MOVIE. AND READ LORE. sorry if this seems inaccurate to movie stuff (even though this au really only needs the lore from the very beginning of the movie)

a little spoiler for the au (because I kinda wanna make little comics or stories for them..) but raph got corrupted first, then mikey (but hes not technically “fully” corrupted), then donnie, and then leo. april and casey are both still alive but splinter is missing. not dead or anything but just missing

mikey barely argues with anyone but when he does argue (and is serious about it) he does NOT hold back

raph and donnie arguments are usually what its like to have arguments online (donnie tries to explain why hes right and raph just goes "nuh uh ur wrong and im right")

raph and leo arguments are much more common and heated than stated above. raph will usually raise his voice towards leo and then leo will just not care and try to make a joke out of it (that always turns out badly). sometimes they even cry lol

donnie and leo arguments are VERY physical. leo would say something and then when donnie says something back hed push or shove him and then that turns into a full blown fight

they always make up though :3

I feel Raphael is someone with good handwriting just from how easily he handles his sai as is you can tell he has good wrist control. Of course Raphael can be a boisterous character himself especially when hes around Casey who seems to draw this out more from him. So he dose have the larger letter to show a more out going personality. The spacing of course we know Raph love freedom often this is why he and Leo can clash. Raphael doesn't hold a want to lead or feel he even be a better leader but he isn't someone to just fall in line if anything this show how much of his trust Leo has. Raphael is often going top side a lot and its pretty clear from things he says he knows city streets and explores around more compared to his brothers. His pen pressure is pretty soft though why? cause he is empathetic and sensitive uwu and we see this with his collection of strays. All people he saw in need of help from Casey falling to the same trouble he deals with to Tyler also losing his mother and trying to find her like when they couldn't find Splinter, to Ms. Morrsion who just needed help around her place and maybe some company. Of course cant leave Von out on that Raphael did in a sense help her meet a new family i Feel after all. Lets look at the L and Y in his name cause I find it to be fun. Because he loops his L is suggests he is relaxed and spontaneous. Raphs pretty good going along with just about anything often more easy with the breeze like Mikey can be often because he can leave the thinking to Leo which makes it easier for him to do so. Until things sort of get too much than you'll see those anxiety tendencies kick in like with city at war. With the Y we see that make a hoop as well meaning he has a select number of friends despite how many charaters in TMNT it's pretty clear which ones Raph feel close to and sure he seems fine with thier friends over all it's clear he has a few he openly interacts with like Trax, Casey, and Joi.

For someone who loves his freedom as limited as it is. Raphael dose hold a want to explore and see more. Living in hiding has him wanting that secretly and it's why he loves the docks so much. When he was younger he often thought about just jumping on to a boat one day and seeing where he end up in the end. Once him and Casey sort of settle down though? Raph in truth wants just that he wants the domestic life that he never really thought was meant for him. He always thought as he got older he leave on his shell cycle and see where the world took him? Now? he just wants to return home to Casey and Summer uwu

Raph may be a city turtle that knows the streets like the back of his hand but he always takes a liking to visits to Casey family farm house. It nice because they can be more in the open when they do go there. and In the CC verse Raphael came to fall in love with the more relaxed and peaceful nature of Casey's farm life. There's just something nice about the open space and fresh air and the amount of stars in the sky. Though often when there the turtle still train to keep sharp it dose still give them a nice get away.

Growing up of course Splinter didn't like his son sneaking out to the surface with out him fearing the risks. So the boys had to find a lot of ways to entertain themselves. One of the ways Raph did was just using trash around in the tunnels to make boats. This sometimes went into his own pretends game of playing as pirate so there's a good chance Donnies mermaid doll went for some trips on those boats only making it worse when ever Raph would steal it from his twin brother.

That there is something wrong with him and if he isn't careful that pipe he almost caved Mikeys head in with would have knocked into his baby brothers skull if he wasn't held back. Raphael has been working to sort through his issues and you can see this with how he allows himself to open up to others. Letting them in is hard and scary being vulnerable isn't easy for Raphael to do. So you really have to be a great of something special for him to do it. The one hes most like this is of course Casey. Casey he can talk to and he pretty open to them never was closed off to them. But even he struggles with giving over a more vulnerable side to Casey because it's giving Casey something over him it's telling Casey I'm giving you a chance to hurt me because i'm willing to take that risk. Raph really can be like a wild animal at times when hurt he wants to hide but he always allows Casey around him. Casey made him better because Casey understood him and gave him kindness when he can't give it to himself. Ironically Casey has shown Raphael something he can't do for himself even if raph struggles with the concept.

I headcannon that Raphael actually has Narcolepsy which can be common for those with depression and anetixy. So this often why raph has spent time woth Donnie he can't sleep so he'll hang around his twin or why he's caught donnie still up of he decides to sneak out of the lair sleep he ain't sleeping at the time. Which has actually helped him he's no where near the addict his twin can be but coffee dose help him stay alert. This also why he can sometimes be more cheerful or more of a grump. He's fine after he first wakes up but since he dosent really get a restful sleep he can drain fast. And just becomes more aggratied uwu

Dosent meant he's the same with everyone. You can definitely tell there's a difference with Casey compared to other friends like Usagi. He tends to keep grades even among family and friends, often displaying a closed off body language unless around a small circle. But even then, he can still be a tad stand offish even among thise he's the closest too.
