hello, lu fandom. i've got... a thought experiment? i suppose?

the short explanation is that i'm outlining a fic where the chain defeats dink in post-totk hyrule but no portals arrive to take them home, so they're just stuck in wild's era forever. i want to have at least one of the chain form a new relationship in the botw era (besides wild, who will be with flora), but i'm having trouble thinking of who would be interested in who.

so, thought experiment. if you had to ship each member of the chain with a botw/totk character, what would your ships be and why?

i'm very interested what ppl find to be the harder shakespeare plays and which they found to be easier. bc i was googling out of curiosity and i found a sparknotes article (link if you're curious) that ranked ten of the most commonly-read plays on difficulty and it put king lear kinda down low whereas it put julius caesar pretty high because of the politics/complicated conflicts. that kind of baffled me because julius caesar was the first tragedy i read outside of the classroom and i found it very approachable; it's one i often recommend to people trying to get into shakespeare because the plot is already familiar to most ppl and you can just enjoy the poetry and how shakespeare chooses to characterize these figures. on the other hand i read king lear a few years later in my shakespeare journey, and to be honest i still kind of have a hard time with lear. maybe i just don't connect with it on some level; i'm not sure. it's not a very tightly-organized play where the action is as centered as in the other tragedies like hamlet or macbeth. that's certainly a me thing and maybe that'll change with age. but i'm always a little surprised when i find someone's experience with the plays so much different than mine.

clu rinzler dynamic hcs that nobody asked for b/c im crazy

I headcanon that Rinzler's feelings about Clu are Complicated. He thinks of his position as Clu’ right hand man as the greatest honor anyone could possibly have. Rinzler was told it’s a chance to right his past wrongs that he committed before Clu ‘fixed him’ by serving him unquestioningly and in return Rinzler genuinely adores Clu. Would do anything he asked including throw himself to his death in a heartbeat if Clu asked for a type of admiration. He is constantly striving to make Clu happy no matter the personal cost or the cost to others even if his efforts go unacknowledged most of the time knowing he made Clu’ life that much easier is enough for him.

Despite the fact that Rinzler tries his damndest to complete every assignment, sometimes he falls short and the consequences of his failure are dire, which is where the more complicated feelings Rinzler has come from. Because Clu is the only program in the history of the grid who’s able to make Rinzler genuinely afraid. Not wary, not cautious, but afraid. It’s part of what drives him to put his all into every task he’s given, not only to please Clu, but because he is terrified of the consequences of falling short of his expectations. On some level, buried deep deep down in the very depths of Rinzler’s code beneath all the changes, Rinzler hates Clu because he knows that how he’s treated is wrong, but he doesn’t understand why. It’s something intrinsic to him that he’s purposefully kept hidden and ignored in every way he can.

On the Clu side of things despite him always going on and on about how he made Rinzler ‘perfect’ and ‘his champion’ he still sees Rinzler as Tron regardless. No matter what Rinzler does or how hard he tries to please Clu he’ll never be able to make up for his past actions in Clu’s mind which is why he lashes out so harshly at him, because he knows that despite all of his attempts at reprogramming him, parts of Tron still live on in Rinzler. He knows that despite having Rinzler’s complete unconditional loyalty underneath it all the hate from Tron’ final moments is still there. Despite placing himself at the center of Rinzler’s world, Tron will never care for him like he cared for Kevin Flynn. Despite having won Flynn’s favorite toy soldier in their feud and repurposing him to be his attack dog, removing any recollection he had of Flynn, the dynamic isn’t the same and never will be because Rinzler isn’t Tron, not really, and Clu isn’t Flynn and that relationship will never be recreated

Just thinking about GOW again and little Atreus becoming a massive dickhead once he finds out he’s a god and honestly I am such a huge fan of it!!

Like Atreus being a jerk is such good writing. Kratos is willing to admit his godhood but does not admit the flaws and sins that come with it (to himself nor Atreus) so of course Atreus doesn’t grasp the implications. He’s only told about the godhood and glory and myths so while kratos (and Mimir, bless him) try to warn him about the dangers and responsibilities it always rings hollow because kratos himself doesn’t admit to his own errors. Atreus doesn’t recognize his rage as a risk and doesn’t recognize the responsibility he holds and doesn’t see the danger he poses because kratos isn’t willing to be truthful about the same to him or to himself ABOUT himself.

Atreus’s growth is not just spurred by his own actions but also paralleled by kratos coming to terms with his own past!! Once his father shows the weaknesses behind godhood to him, Atreus also recognizes that he has committed atrocities against the people around him as a result!! “We must be better” finally impacts him as he recognizes WHAT they both must be better than as kratos speaks truly and Atreus listens completely !!!!! It’s about the father coming to terms with himself and the son learning from the truth from his father!!!!!
