i'm going to die on the hill that apologizing or excusing lestat's abusive behavior undermines him as a character. it erases any chance he has to grow.
and lestat knows. paraphrasing some of these but:
i am cursed with my father's temper at times.
when i'm tired, i'm not so kind.
i did it to hurt him. and it did hurt him.
i broke him.
what is worse than that? to crush what you cannot own?
then from the books themselves, admitting that he might have done what claudia did himself, as reason for why he doesn't blame her. he is aware that he hurt the people around him — intentionally. in mennoch, he admits he doesn't like himself.
it does such a disservice to him, to louis, and to claudia to erase who he is. especially when so much is cyclical — the fear of being like his father and seeing his father within himself. not knowing how to stop it or why he is how he is bc he's never really confronted it.
he's so afraid of loneliness, afraid that anyone who loves him is somehow lying. love is conditional and he needs so much validation ( which isn't fair to anyone else in his life ). they have to perform emotional labor for insecurities that lestat can't open up about.
and when he's hurt or when he's afraid of being hurt, he lashes out.
#➤ headcanons ┊ lestat de lioncourt#bUT RECOGNIZING HIS FAULTS#also allows for room for him to grow#and to learn#and i think lestat does learn albeit slowly at times#it's not all linear#and it's not all positive#but lestat being able to learn from his mistakes#and to become something better#IS very important to me#and how i write him#I AM JUST THINKING A LOT ABOUT LESTAT RN

Hii!
So I'm reading the books for the first time (so far I love it, but I'm also just about a third of the way through the first one) and I have some thoughts about Claudia.
First of all, the thing about Louis loving her and calling her a seductress and such is weirding me out every single time it comes up (but I do understand that there are many much weirder things coming (right, Lestat?))
Ok, but what I mostly wanted to say is that, while in the series she wasn't necessarily my favourite, I generally liked her and understood why she acted the way she did. But her book version, I just really don't like. Maybe because I'm biased towards liking Lestat, maybe because compared to the show, he hasn't done nearly as terrible things and so she and the way she acts towards him seems worse in comparison? Idk how to explain it, she just seems unnecessarily antagonistic and just deciding to kill him because he doesn't want to answer questions.
Maybe I just need to keep on reading, but rn I just wanna ask if me strongly disliking her is alright (at this point in the story) or if I am fully misunderstanding something?
Thank you in advance!!
No, you’re not misunderstanding something, imho.
The thing in the books is that Lestat actually truly didn’t deserve the attempt on his life. Oh, he never blamed Claudia for it, but that is because he understood what kind of hell he condemned her to by turning her. (As a note: in the show this will be pulled into question still as well I bet, we already have Louis calling the reasoning “debatable“ in season 2, and only trusting Lestat after all, and Lestat’s POV is only coming up now after all).
And this otherness you feel from Claudia? Definitely there. Because Claudia in the book was turned so young she never really learned to be human. She was more vampire than either of them, and behaved like that, too. She was a predator, locked in a little girl‘s body - wanting to be free, and it sharpened and changed her mind and wits beyond Louis‘ or Lestat‘s.
That is also where the book canon relationship between Louis and her stems from - it’s… other. Beyond the mortal frame of relationship.
In Merrick, a later book, Claudia’s diary then reveals that she used Louis to kill Lestat because she found him more malleable. It was a big reveal back then, and while it’s not yet relevant for you reading IWTV it will likely come (back) into play in season 3, bc the few shots we got of her diaries already refer to her thoughts going to that manipulation. We‘ll see.
Personally I think the show has done very well to make Claudia’s plight much more relatable. She does not feel like book Claudia, and very intentionally not so. I am also glad they skipped that book relationship between her and Louis.
I hope this makes sense to you and I hope you enjoy reading the book! As said, I think the show improved it, a lot :))) but it’s still very much a classic on its own.

I'm actually quite sad that we haven't found out ANYTHING about Armand in the epilogue. I mean, turning Daniel is such a huge point in his character, so we'll (hopefully) revisit that in future seasons, but other than that?? Did he take the magnolia tree with him? It's either that or Louis took it out and we know that tree has meaning for him (he has been growing a magnolia even back in Paris).
I know we're not meant to know where he fucked off, but I'd love to see just a tiny tiny glimpse with him alone. Is he with Marius?? DID HE PUNISH HIMSELF BY GOING TO MARIUS BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE???
Idk, the ending was too cartoonishly evil for him specifically, which is strange since this was the present time, so we assume that what we see is the truth. Liniar movie action style. Of course, it's evil via omission of his side of things, so it makes sense he seems evil. But I still think it would've been better if we had some extra 5 minutes in this episode and squished in there a small scene with, idk, Armand crying in an unrecognisable place (even just due to him transforming Daniel). It can simply be a dark room, so they don't have to build Marius' lair already, but ye know. It would be a glimpse that he's actually NOT okay, lol.
This is my only pet peeve, but trusting the writers to present the other side of the coin when we get back to his POV of things. Just hoping that won't simply be in season 5 of all things, lol. Even Lestat got a bit of POV (via the trial) during Louis' seasons, so they'll probs cram it in seasons 3-4 somehow (with Daniel povs).
Sorry for the rant, I hope this makes sense.
u can rant! it's ok. I know there's a lot going on here that ppl are rly disappointed in.
I am personally holding out that S3 will comment a lot on this. I feel like S2 ended similar to how S1 did with Lestat. Armand is a major character in the plot of TVL as well as QotD and a lot they're prbly going to be piecing together for S3. He's not just "gone" (not that u were saying this, I'm saying in general) and I trust that they'll be answering a lot about this and him in S3 or they will risk losing a lot of viewers tbh.
I know it looks cartoonishly villain like rn but I don't believe long term that is the vision for him. The point is that all of these vampires are deeply flawed and traumatized and hurt each other bcuz of it, bcuz they want to be luved so badly but also don't think they're worthy of it.
The fandom is definitely going to suffer thru this in ways tho. some of the lestans are already overly doing the victim bullshit of "now u know how we felt after S1." but they made a whole lot of racist choices to defend the white character so no it's not the same tbh, when ur trying to defend a brown character against a racist fandom.

Hi hello I watched all of carmilla in a weekend when I was 17 because a student teacher who in retrospect I had a bit of a crush on mentioned that she knew one of the actresses. also I am pretty invested in all your recent vampire stuff because I watched iwtv in 2 days last week because your edit intrigued me
oh hiiii 🫶 thank you for indulging me. thats so cool that you watched iwtv! did it live up to the expectation?
i also watched carmilla at 17! or like, 17-19. i found it when s2 had just started and followed it to the end. did something permanent to my brain but i think it was a good thing. on rewatch now im like, i was right to like this. like it's a solid show, it's good. it has its flaws obviously but it's well written, the emotional moments still get me, i can see why i liked it and i still like it now even when it's not anymore, you know, meeting every need that baby gay me didnt even know they had
what it doesnt reaallyy do though - i dont remember if i posted abt this or if i left it in my drafts but - is explore vampirism as a concept. their subject matter is more lesbianism than vampirism. which is great! thats what they wanted to do and they did it and it's very good. but reading interview with the vampire the book rn im realising how much potential vampires have to be metaphors for like so many things and i started wondering like 'wait, did carmilla just not really engage with it or did it all go over my head'. but it just didnt really engage with it all that much. which again is fine bc that wasnt what they were doing. im glad they were more about the lesbianism than the vampirism
but there's this interesting difference in framing, because in iwtv they keep calling armand 'ancient' right? and emphasising how old he is. and he's like 500? and i was like 'wait isnt carmilla like 400?'. she isnt, shes 340, but still, thats getting there, you know? and we know quite a lot about her history, but kind of just the Big Events. when she was turned, the events of the novella, coffin of blood, silas. thats sort of what we know. but none of the long lonely slog of history day to day you know? with armand i feel like we can really feel how much time everything takes. how every one of those years is made up of single days. with carmilla i dont feel that as much. i keep kind of thinking about daniel, when louis calls him a boy in the first episode, saying "im an old man, with all the triggers that come with it"
because carmilla might look 18 (or mid twenties at this point) but she has lived all that time. shes also seen her native land be claimed by like a succession of ruling powers, right? like armand. shes been buried alive, like louis. when lestat is born, shes already 80 years old, shes lived a whole human lifetime, and the entire adult part of it shes been a vampire. shes lived through 1680-1870 being a lure. i compared her to abigail hobbs in some tags on a post, i dont know if youre familiar with hannibal the tv show, but i do also kinda keep thinking about that comparison
if youre not familiar, in the first episode of hannibal the murderer of the week is this guy garrett jacob hobbs who kills and cannibalises girls who resemble his daughter. and later on it turns out she was made to be his lure. like they'd go places and he'd sent her to the victims to make friends and maybe get them back to their home or smth. not sure if they specified all the details. but that's what carmilla did for mother. and in s2 we hear from mattie that while every couple of decades carmilla had to lure victims for the fish god, she also seemed to just enjoy humans between those times, right? like the doctor, gets lonely, gets a new companion. but we've only sort of got mattie's mocking word for it ("dont eat him, hes a poet! or her, shes got such a wonderful voice. or that one, shes just too pretty to ruin"), we don't know exactly from carmilla's point of view what she was doing or why. if mattie's talking about stuff that happened after the blood coffin, 1950-now, then i think it's a fair assumption based on what carmilla says in the s1 sock puppet show that after she'd figured out what the real situation was and what her role in it was, when she'd started trying to save girls from being sacrificed, that she mightve been doing the same trying to save people from becoming mattie's victims. it's probably more likely that she was just trying to find excuses to stop mattie from sucking someone dry rather than actually having like an aesthetic based morality. but it might be a bit of both. im still trying to figure out what her philosophy actually is, like i dont know what existentialism actually means ghkfjghkj but i will
i also found it pretty striking in the movie when shes turning back into a vampire she says like "this was supposed to be done, you know? the blood lust, the self-loathing, the sleeping tied to a chair in my own bedroom". thats what defines her vampirism, wanting blood and hating yourself for it (the third part is a joke/reference to s1 but also i think meaningful for how she sees her relationship with laura when she IS a vampire. little bit of that 'she will reject me for my monstrousness' shining through). and thats what defines vampirism for lots of vampires across the genre obviously, but i dont know, it struck me. we dont get a lot from carmilla's pov, we know a fair amount about her, but the story is always told through laura. we get laura's diaries, but just snippets here and there from carmilla, what shes thinking, how shes feeling
and i love that shes a philosopher. i love that thats how she seems to try and find something to hold onto, in a world that kind of moves around her, having been murdered, kidnapped, turned and groomed to be a lure on the cusp of adulthood, never having been properly loved (the relationship with her father wasnt good she says in s3, and her mortal mother i dont think has ever been mentioned (like laura's)). the only good relationship she seems to have had for the better part of 3 centuries seems to have been mattie, and mattie seems to love being a vampire. i can imagine carmilla just sort of going along with anything mattie wants to do just because shes so desperate for that friendship. not like, against her will necessarily really. but more like, she hasnt even had the space to develop her own will, you know? and philosophy lets you do that. philosophy gives you frameworks to understand the world and to develop your own opinions on it. and by the 21st century she seems to have developed those opinions, she has a sense of her own values, but shes also still stuck in that same situation. shes jaded and cynical in the face of laura's optimism and strong moral code a lot of the time in s1 because she feels probably pretty powerless. like she does what she can to save some girls but at the end of the day shes scared of her mother and she has nowhere else to go really, right?
i like how she grapples with that over the course of the series, in tandem with laura grappling with her black and white morality. she sort of jumps ship from her mother to laura bc theyve fallen in love, but then laura still stuck in her hero thinking refuses to see her monstrous side. not literally bc i think the biological vampirism never seemed to be a problem for laura, but morally. the having murdered. carmilla needs laura to see that and love her while seeing it bc the last girl she loved rejected her for being a vampire.
but you see her kind of swing back and forth in s2. she softens first with laura but then they break up and she leans back hard into the sarcastic cynic defense mechanisms, leans hard into "im a monster, dont expect heroism from me". but thats like, it's sort of learned helplessness i think. it's powerlessness, resignation. bc morally shes not a monster. maybe she doesnt have as strong a drive to help other people as laura does and is a little more selfishly hedonistic in that she just wants to enjoy her/their life, but she doesnt hurt people for fun, she never has. she just sort of didnt have another option for a Really long time. so she pretends she doesnt care. "im a vampire, this is what i do, this is who i am". but clearly from the way she talks about it when she turns back into one, she doesnt enjoy it
and i like how she goes even further in s3, where she starts swinging even more to the heroic side, bc she sees hope. shes like "wow if we kill my mother, i'd be free". theres hope and she becomes like a lot more active. and shes like that at the start of the movie too, a lot happier, a lot more relaxed, and then vampirism is back and bam depression gfhgkjh like shes immediately more gloomy, ashamed of her past and her self, retreats into herself
sorry i just took this as an opportunity to dump all the carmilla thoughts floating in my head on you. you didnt ask fhkghgjh consider this an open invitation to you or anyone else to come talk to me about carmilla
#just finished watching the movie and i had actually forgotten but at the end shes a vampire again!#they totally gave us a super great opening for more conflict to explore hollstein's relationship#bc carmilla sort of puts closure to her past by taking responsibility for her part in it and it makes her a vampire again#and laura is like 'dont give up on our life together' and shes like 'im not giving up on anything!'#and laura is like 'we're supposed to live and get old and have grandkids how are we gonna do that if you dont age'#so thats a great set up#im putting the fic im writing i think another 5 years in the future#bc the movie is 5 years from the end of the series and im doing another 5 years so it's 2024#but theres so much opportunity to play there. theres conflict. tehres problems to solve. but theyre in a good place#i dont think they ever specify how vampires are made in this universe#therees some posts on carmillas blog where she responds to asks abt why she doesnt turn laura or if she would#and she just says 'you have no idea how this works'#but that was still during the series and the writers obviously wanted to keep their options open and their writing cards a bit closer to#the chest#but at this point you could make laura a vampire#you could explore that. see how they both feel abt that. would bea difficult decision#theyre also not married yet in the movie#they celebrate carmilla's 'rebirthday' where she turned human again#you could do a thing where they turn laura on that same day. sort of make that their wedding#not an easy decision i think. i think it would take a lot of discussion to get them there but not impossible#and would be fun to explore. both their feelings abt all that. and like anotehr 5 years in the future where they are in their lives#idk idk. brainstorming#thanks for giving me an opportunity to infodump a little :)#carmillaposting

no hate, but why do you post l0um4nd on your jam account? There's no nickistat or armandstat.
you do a great job and congrats on 5k, it's a genuine question, it's commendable since I see some iwtv actor centric accounts being shady and excluding j or s
hi! I'm not sure exactly what you mean tbh 😭 I went through my posts and the last Just Loumand post I made was in June. are you talking about today, posting the bts of the Loumand meeting?? if it's that, it's just because I'm sharing all the writer's room posts over to IG! since the writer's room isn't on IG, I'm doing what I can to share it over there because it's kind of crazy how few people on IG areee on twitter as well. it's more for just putting the pic of Jacob on there tbh, but since there were only two other photos, it wasn't too bad to share.
as for n*ckistat and *rmandstat, I haven't posted anything with nicki in general because I hateeee nicki lol I've hated nicki since I was 16 so it's not a new development or anything. and I'm sure someone might overread into this but I just don't like his vibes, I think he's unnecessarily mean and cynical, etc. etc. but! he's also only been on the show for, like, 1.5 minutes. however, even when he's on a lot more in s3, I probably won't be posting anything about him (and this isn't any hate to the actor who -- bad for me -- seems to be quite sweet and normal ???). I will probably post if we get to see armand cut his hands off....and/or help him die.
and as for *rmandstat, I don't like them in any capacity, but I also particularly hate how the fandom talks about them in regard to louis so I'm not partial to posting about them. I AM heavily interested in two conversations that I think lestat and armand had in s2 that are hinted at in two separate moments, and there are absolutely moments from tvl that I'm interested to see, but my interest is probably centered in a much different place than others. but I will probably post more about them once s3 airs.
I genuinely have always liked loumand though. like in the books, they were always my second favorite ship. and I'm still very interested in where loumand can go, even if it's not in a romantic nature. I think some of their romance still has to be explored and I think reconciliation of some kind mightttt be semi-possible, but that's neither here nor there rn.
but as for everything with my IG, thank you! <3 I really do try to focus on sam and/or jacob, but that means individually and together. while I don't post a lot about sam on iwtv with others, I do make a lotttt of newsreader posts because I genuinely adore that show so much, so I think it balances out some. but yeah, I'm trying to expand into doing more about both sam and jacob, but I'm so busy with work atm so it's hard to keep up with everything

nobody hates ppl for liking lestat by itself. that's a lie perpetuated by an overly sensitive, racist fandom. nobody needs to respect anne rice either. so if ur getting any hate, I'd bet it's because of telling ppl, especially black ppl, that anne rice needs to be respected for any reason. she does not. she was a piece of shit white woman. I am not thinking about her at all in this lol. whatever u attached to these stories is ur business but that's usually the problem tbh. this fandom is built on a racist book series beloved by a lot of white ppl. it was never critical of its themes. so ppl get attached for decades and then suddenly have to realize that something other than whiteness exists here. maybe other ppl who aren't white can exist in these stories too. the show has removed anne rice's coddling of whiteness now and tbh that's a lot of what ppl mean when they say they're being "attacked" for liking lestat. it's just seeing a black or brown fan saying "fuck lestat." anne rice made u all forget his origins and want everyone to love him like u do right out the gate, but that's not why a lot of ppl are here rn. some of us will never be there lol. like I'm fr not trying to attack u here but we're 2 years in and ppl are still acting obtuse like this fandom hasn't been saying shit this whole time about this. all anyone does here is talk about lestat or sam. the tags are FLOODED every time new shit drops and it's only his face there. maybe u don't see it cuz he's ur fav and I'm gonna guess ur white but try looking for how much jacob, assad, or delainey gets any coverage in the tags for anything and u will see.
Why are there so many people out there, desperate to spew hate at you just because you love Lestat? 😭
I don’t care what anyone thinks of me, or of Lestat. But it gets difficult because:
I first read these books as a tween, so TVL Lestat informed my sense of self. Through his existential questioning, I developed my own existential questioning about the world; existence; the future; my future. Though a child, I was a violinist! And though I began playing violin aged 8, I had free lessons in school & felt always-inferior to other children & akin to Nicolas.
It’s not *logical* how the essence of Lestat & Nicolas ingrain themselves in you! I was a musician who had always been praised on my *feeling* (& never on my skill 😂.)
I started piano lessons aged 12: old! My piano teacher went into semi retirement when I was 13 & culled many pupils. She was going to cull me too as I was obviously still a beginner at 13, but then she had a lesson with me & told my Mum she’d changed her mind. I played with such feeling, she couldn’t cull me. I felt just like Nicolas! 😭 (I was surely reading TVL for the first time at this time.)
Of course I wasn’t really old enough when I first read TVL to understand Nicolas’ worldliness… but I understood his music & how Nicki felt about it & how Lestat felt about it.
I read Memnoch The Devil just a few years before, still a teenager (my late teens) my Dad died & it seems a daft thing to say, but this book literally helped me navigate both my grief & my existential questioning & the way I *needed* at that time to firmly know my own beliefs. As a teen who was always a deep thinker & feeler, but an only child who never shared with friends or my Mum my deepest feelings. Any time I reason in a deep way, even though I have never reread Memnoch yet, it is THERE in my mind & heart, even now.
So when you attack Lestat, or me. It isn’t that I care if you hate Lestat or if you hate me! The world would be boring if we all felt the same! I mean do not disrespect real people though (e.g. Anne Rice!) You don’t have to like her either, but respect her as creator of the world & characters!
But my 12-year-old self feels a knife in my chest; the grieving 19-year-old feels you want to destroy me. I don’t understand why those who hate Lestat are so insistent that I need to hate him too?! Don’t you understand there is literally nothing you could say to make me hate him!?! Why do you care that I don’t hate him?
I don’t even understand why anyone *wants* literary characters to be morally pure! To me, even as a tiny child, the interest in FICTIONAL CHARACTERS almost always lies in characters who exist in moral shades of grey: the greater the pull & ache of good AND evil, the more interesting!!! I need to feel a goodness at the core personally, I suppose… but beyond that, any immoral act (IN FICTION!) is fine! But you actually can like 100% evil fictional characters too if you just do & that’s fine too! 😭😭😭😭😭
I don’t care, she said… caring! Caring! CARING!!!! 😭😭😭
(I’m talking book-Lestat here.)

i feel like i may have said it before, but my lestat goes to paris for armand's blood, not for vengeance. obviously lestat's side of going to paris hasn't been covered in the show, so i don't know how they'll handle it.
but for my portrayal, he goes back to paris for help. he fights not to talk about louis or claudia, and doesn't realize they're in paris when he arrives.
my headcanon is lestat is there for a long time. in an incredibly weak state. but he absolutely doesn't come at santiago or any other vampire's beckoning. if he'd known louis & claudia were in paris, he wouldn't have come.
he went for armand.
#hey cyn why don't u do drafts??#I AM JUST THINKING A LOT RN#of course the details of it may change with different writing partners#i'm completely okay talking about things when it comes to lestat and going to paris#but this is kind of my base idea of what happened#and it really means a lot to me that he isn't interested in venegeance or seeing louis or claudia when he arrives

Hello! How are you doing?
I just wanted to ask a few questions on top of my head rn, feel free to ignore this if you don’t feel like answering lol.
1. Do you have a prediction for when they’ll announce casting/post a new trailer/release the series, and how long will the production last? It was said to start on November 30.
2. How many episodes do you think we’ll have? And do you think they’ll fit TVL in 1 season or 2?
3. Where do you think Loustat are placed in sense of relationship? Are they friends with benefits, are they low contact, are they one call away but not really? Ugh I can’t stop thinking about it.
4. What do you think the present storyline will be for the characters?
Hey!
I'm fine, thank you :)
Casting announcements are hard to predict, they STILL have not officially announced Joseph Potter aka Nicki?! I mean, he was in s2??? So.... *shrugs* Your guess is as good as mine, lol. As per the trailers, if filming does happen end of November, and everything goes well without problems I expect a lot of little teasers and trailers from... May? Latest? April, maybe. I expect production to run till February or March. And then, like last time, they might give us snippets, sneak peeks, trailers... etc. And maybe SDCC 2025 😈
I... think TVL and QoTD will build on each other (as the books do as well) and I think they might aim for another 8 episodes per season - I am not sure though if TVL will be split, like IWTV - given TVL has a lot more content that might make sense.
Re Loustat - that depends on "when" we are at the end of s2 - and at the beginning of s3, if the rockstar Lestat trailer actually means something within canon. IF we can take it as part of canon then it means Loustat are not yet reunited... which does not necessarily mean they don't meet up nor that they don't have sex. But it could also mean just as well that the reunion prior to the concert will happen, which then would mean they do not interact... yet.
Since they returned to the book structure at the end of season 2 that is what I expect for the modern times, actually. Louis in hiding, the "other" vampires pissed at him for publishing the book, Lestat doing his rockstar thing to find Louis and also shield him. I think DM-wise we will get an inverted chase to the one that likely happened in the 70s. Depending on whether Daniel in the "documentary" is already a vampire... or not. I mean, that book could have been on Louis' table for a while... ^^ In any case I do expect a cliffhanger at the end of the season, if they do TVL in a single season it will be Akasha taking Lestat, I would bet real money on it^^.
So yeah, my two cents :)

I generally *don't* dislike devils minion as a ship. I like it even...But sometimes I think about blocking it even though there is good content i like to see on it.
But the tag is filled with people who hate loumand, people who try to put shippers down. I don't see that much hate even from loustat fans.
One of the things I repeatedly see that gets on my nerves is the "armand pays more attention to daniel in dubai then he does to louis" take.
I understand they probably will happen in following seasons. But to think that armand was secretly in love with daniel the whole time in dubai is such a weird take to me. Do you think it has any base or is it just the fans trying to push their own narrative? Am I crazy to think that armand looked like he was completely in love with louis in dubai, despite their problems, and didn't really care about daniel outside of louis?
I get that they will get together in the future and i will support them and nod along when that happens. But they clearly didn't happen in season 2. There was just too much resentment on both sides and they both clearly cared more about louis. Am i crazy to think that?
I think first of all that ppl should relax trying to attack each other over which ships they like or not. it's pointless and everyone is with everyone else eventually so there's no reason to be going at each other about any of it. this was way less intense before the show aired bcuz everyone was white. now it's insane bcuz there's a lot of racist motivations fueling the protection or rejection of these ships. we can all just breathe (this is a general statement, not rly aimed at u).
secondly tho. I think the show has made a lot of things intentionally ambiguous. I can't say one way or another what armand is thinking bcuz the way he looks at daniel at times could read either way. he *is* focused on daniel in one sense bcuz daniel is *the enemy.* once armand was no longer rashid, he could more directly confront daniel and he did (not like being rashid stopped him fully anyway but lol). but there's times he's uncharacteristically gentler on daniel than louis is, like during the engagement mind-reading fuckery. I think it's meant to read as both, if u have awareness of DM. I don't think it's meant to be THERE there rn but a detail to notice and think is kind of fun (hard for this fandom to do tho, ik lol).
idk when DM is meant to take place in this universe, but I think there's something to be said about viewing all of them after 2x5. armand has remembered that entire thing the whole time and yet they're back here again. he'd otherwise erased both of their memories so neither one remembered the "fascinating" segment and he prbly figured the risk of louis thinking that again after so much time and in a different mindset was v low. but louis is still talking to the man he said was more fascinating as a stranger than armand had been for decades. and they're talking about lestat again. "ur going to teach me how to be fascinating" is prbly still in there somewhere. armand is always watching both of them bcuz he still wants to know what this means and why it happened.
it kind of mirrors jonah in S1. even tho louis doesn't explicitly tell lestat not to touch him, we learn that he lived to old age too. it makes claudia's death even worse but anyway I'm getting kind of OT.
but he definitely is v invested in louis too and is putting a lot into making the relationship look good. some of my fav parts are from some of those scenes tbh, when he's just smiling and recounting memories with louis in front of daniel. or even when he runs out as rashid to stop louis from attacking daniel again over claudia's diaries in S1, which now has more context knowing their history and louis' desire to not have harm come to daniel.

i FINALLY started watching iwtv literally yesterday (despite reblogging from gifsets from the show.... i am not immune to jacob anderson's charm as another black man) and i love louis sm oh my GOD. im used to furry fandom things obvs and there's a lot of racism in that believe it or not so im used to it but like... how should i prepare to face antiblackness in this space i wanna interact with the fandom but i am So Scared ‼️
hi! so idk how to rly answer this cuz I've never been asked this before lol. but ig for advice it's like....avoid any accounts u see posted here, cuz that whole lil group are the main gatekeepers who keep this shit going. when the show airs, the tags are a *lot* busier. let's hope they drown during that period lol. this stuff got worse once the show was off the air and weird book ppl needed to feel important. most of the best stuff isn't in the tags rn. turn off anon. know that if u talk about racism from the show to fandom then showmey0urfangs is prbbly gonna say shit to u and put u on a PSA list for "hating lestat" or smtng. I think when the show airs u might be fine, it's the downtime when it's worse cuz all these white fandom ppl feel confident to start getting louder with their bs.
idk, anyone else pls advise if u feel u can. like just know this fandom is obsessively unwell. if u don't know the shit anne rice did then reading how she acted is a good way to prep for it. she was fucking crazy stupid with a big ego and that's all these bitches too lol.
