It’s a family story drama with 72 episodes (32min long). Is it worthwhile watching. Absolutely. It’s hella melodramatic though, so keep that in mind going in. You have a corrupt family, a somewhat vengeful widow, a suicidal couple, a golfer, two adults nearing their 50s who act like they’re in their 20s and a cute older couple. It can get a bit bonkers at times especially towards the later half, the ending had me rolling my eyes on how everyone ended up in one big happy family. And I mean EVERYONE. It’s still a really nice drama even with its ups and downs especially with the main leads who had a beautiful storyline that was written brilliantly for them. I mean the chemistry between the two. *chefs kiss*

random thoughts about strong girl nam soon, episode five (pt 1)

(read more because i always get carried away lol and this post might contain spoilers)

hopefully nam soon will be more efficient at being discreet. Even though i don't count on it

i just realized there are eleven episodes left after i finish this one so i kind of understand why it took some time to introduce the villain and develop the story.

I still can't believe the chief of the diu team put the dr*g in his mouth. I think the writers decided to do that because when the chief d1es, the charges against doogo will be heavier and he'll be incriminated for longer. But anyway, it still doesn't make sense that someone who's worked for such a long time in a diu team went and made a rookie mistake, especially given the fact that the whole team saw the effects it had on the two victims of said dr*g. Talk about lack of creativity. I would've understood if he went to the hospital to, let's say, visit a family member and then they gave him the fatal mask. That would have made a lot more sense a lot but no, they chose something so stupid even a rookie would have thought before doing such a thing. Oh and let's not forget how hee sik told him SECONDS BEFORE how the drug works. Talk about impulsive thoughts.

Sorry i'm very disappointed by such reckless behaviour from someone who should know better.

I know i've said nam soon is doing a terrible job at laying on the down low but i do appreciate her enthusiasm. She has lead a pure life, rid of bad intentions so she is adamant on catching the villain and stopping the k1lling of so many victims.

Hee sik being stunned by her super powers is hilarious. He's seen it before but he doesn't know the extent of it. By the end of the drama, he'll just be so impressed he'll become numb to it.

Nam soon running with hee sik in her arms adds a lot of fun to this moment. He's already become numb to it.

The veins on the ryu si o's arms and back. He's the first experiment of his own drug. I don't know how the makeup/vfx artists did it but it's a really good job. The veins don't look fake.

I'm sorry but hwang geum ju is so badass and elegant at the same time. How does she do that? And the fact she's riding a motorcycle? She's catwoman!!!

I'm wondering why she revealed her identity so quickly. I mean it could have been dangerous. But we don't know if she gave her identity when signing up to the opulentia site. The vice chairman of opulentia, i wonder if it's his real voice because it sounds like one of those voices you hear when taking a TOEIC exam for example. It just threw me off. Also it looks like they asked him to speak very slowly and to articulate every word when talking in english. I don't know but it's weird. It doesn't sound natural is what I'm trying to say. If that's really how the man speaks, i would like to apologize.

Hwang geum ju's smile when she understood she shares the same goals as the opulentia vc. She finally found someone of "elite" status who wants to do good and not just keep earning money and keeping it to themselves. And i think that's a very beautiful thing to see that she's no longer alone in her quest to make the world a better place. She really found someone she wants to associate herself with.

Hee sik using any excuse to be with nam soon. We know what you're trying to do. I just appreciate all the little details the show gives us to drop hints that they're going to be a couple by the end of the drama.

Talking about hwang geum dong, they chose the perfect actor to play him because he has this tired look on his face already and he mastered the art of using it to his advantage.

Yobi, the Five Tailed Fox (천년여우 여우비)

-- Yobi, the Five Tailed Fox was a rather cute anime that came from South Korea. It featured the story of a kumiho (gumiho) (A Fox Deity) girl named Yobi who had the ability to transform from her divine fox-spirit form into a human (with five tails if she becomes distracted). The one thing that she desires overall is to have a soul.

Yobi decides to infiltrate a school for ‘unfit’ children; interjecting herself into school life to learn and socialize.

A romance begins to develop between Yobi and a human child named Hwang Geum-ee.

When the Fox Hunter attacks Yobi near her home in the mountains; she is saved by a phantom named: Mr. Shadow.

Mr. Shadow reveals to Yobi that to fulfill her dreams of having a soul, she will need to use a technological device that would steal the soul from a human who loves her.

Things reach the climax when the Fox Hunter infiltrates the school, setting up camp and leads to Yobi revealing herself.

She runs away back home, however, Hwang goes after her. He discovers her secret and when the authorities come; he remains silent for her sake.

When the Fox Hunter attacks both Hwang and Yobi; they fall into the Spirit World where Hwang’s soul departs from his body.

A second short climax unfolds when Mr. Shadow reveals his true nature and steals Hwang’s soul so that he may be reincarnated once more.

Yobi and the Guardians of the Spirit World attack Mr. Shadow and defeat him. When the Guardians come for Hwang’s soul; Yobi sacrifices herself, revealing that she already had a soul.

With the debt paid, Hwang’s soul returns to his body and Yobi dies. The last we see of Hwang, he is searching for Yobi. A few moments later; Yobi’s soul is released to be reincarnate as a human.

Overall, the story was very nice. I do not think that aliens were needed in the story telling. They seemed to have been added afterwards to help the story flow. But honestly, they really didn’t help to add to the story's narrative. And at the end of the climax, they simply disappeared from the story.

They could have used this time to continue building character development between Hwang and Yobi.

One trait I appreciated was the story arc and animation depicting Yobi’s conditioning from Fox-like to human.

Soundtrack Worth Listening To? : Uncertain.

Favorite Characters: Yobi...she is cute, clever, and a trickster...just as fox spirits are said to be.

Sinopse:

Um padre estressadinho que não poupa indiretas e muito menos socos em quem merece acaba sendo preso, por isso, ele é obrigado pelo padre da região a se mudar para outro local. Mas quem disse que o Padre Kim não ia arrumar confusão por onde passa? Na nova paróquia ele conhece uma promotora bem fora da lei, Kyung Sun é uma fiel que tá é gamada no padre (não julgo pois faria o mesmo).

O padre Lee, um idoso muito querido por todos, inclusive pelo padre Kim, acaba morrendo de forma suspeita e então começa a luta sem fim para desvendar esse mistério. Nessa investigação, há dois policiais, Koo Dae Young, um bobão medroso que só se lasca não importa a situação e a Seo Seung, aquela que manja dos paranâue tudo, teimosa que só ela e que se veste como uma rapper.

Padre Kim Hae Il/ Tsunami

Já foi do Serviço de Inteligência Nacional, mas agora leva a vida como um padre linguarudo e nervosinho, que vive quase matando os fiéis do coração. É um homem extremamente inteligente e um lutador incrível, ama beber soju, muito melhor investigando que a própria polícia, tem um grande coração mas se culpa muito. Se ele decide fazer uma coisa, não há quem o pare ou que o tire de cima da geladeira.

Park Kyung Sun

Uma promotora que faz de tudo para subir na vida, ela é ambiciosa, arrogante e ótima fonte para novos xingamentos. Desde o começo ela e o padre Kim viviam em guerra, mas após diversos acontecimentos e reviravoltas, eles acabaram se juntando.

Koo Dae Young

Um detetive com um parafuso a menos, ele é covarde e só se mete em confusão, assim como todos naquela delegacia ele é pau mandado dos gângsters, mas não é dessa forma porque eles querem, há uma série de coisas envolvidas nisso. Ele tem um bom coração, mas por conta do que aconteceu no passado tem muito medo que outras pessoas se machuquem e se submete a fazer papel de idiota.

Seo Seung Ah

Uma detetive novata que é ótima em bater nos bandidos e não leva desaforo pra casa, acaba se tornando parceira do Dae Young, imaginem só que dupla hein? Ela é determinada, teimosa e não aceita ser pau mandado de gângster nenhum.

Hwang Cheol Bum

O gângster, boxeador que não vale o chão que pisa e tá envolvido em tudo quanto é falcatrua.  Se importa muito com sua gangue, porque eles são sua “família”.

Opiniões e comentários:

Comecei a ver o drama com 0 expectativa, não conhecia ninguém do elenco, mas acabei ficando curiosa sobre ter um padre pistola, e sinceramente, obrigada dona curiosidade por me deixar descobrir um drama incrível como esse, tanto a ação quanto a comédia são na medida certa. Digo e repito que foi a melhor comédia da temporada, SBS acertou em cheio com essa produção. Quando soube que era do mesmo autor que Chefe Kim tudo fez sentido, tanto um drama quanto o outro tem o mesmo jeitinho, você passa o drama todo rindo, mas a trama continua se desenrolando e começa a ficar complexo e cada vez mais interessante sem nunca perder a graça. Deveriam haver mais dramas assim, que misturem comédia e tensão de forma que seja gostoso de assistir e te faça querer mais, sem empacar no meio do caminho.

O trio da igreja, Padre Kim, padre Han e a freira In Kyung, foram incríveis, cada um deles tinha seu próprio passado e ficava cada vez mais inesperado, o da freira foi ótimo, jamais que eu iria imaginar hahahaha.

Agora vamos falar sobre a duplinha do nosso querido Kim Hae Il e o Dae Young, quando eles se juntavam eu já sabia que iam rolar altas risadas, a cena das máscaras de cachorro foi demais.

No início achei que o Dae Young ia continuar do mesmo jeito até o fim (falo sobre ser covarde e pau mandado), mas surpreendentemente, por influência do padre ele começou a ter mais coragem e enfrentar as coisas, se tornou uma pessoa muito melhor. É a primeira vez em um drama que quando tudo começava a dar errado, eu não pensava em chamar a polícia, mas sim em chamar o padre.

O que dizer sobre Yo Han, Song Sac e o cachorrinho de madame? Hahahaha isso sem dúvidas foi uma das melhores coisas de fiery priest, nunca pensei que comer ajudaria na audição. Os trava linguas e depois a virada de mesas entre o Song Sac e o Jang Ryong foi ótima, aliás a relação desenvolvida entre os dois, foi na verdade, uma lição de vida e tanto. Song Sac tem um ótimo coração e não guarda rancor nenhum e Jang Ryong apesar de toda a canalhice tem arrependimentos.

Tivemos também nossos ships furados, Padre Kim e a promotora que obviamente foi feito para que a gente se iludisse mesmo, porque olha foi cada olhar entre os dois e umas cenas aí que huum, aliás desde que ela o viu já achou um gato, ou melhor, uma benção de Deus (promotora Park somos todos nós).

O segundo ship foi a detetive Seung Ah com o padre também, pois o pecado continuará entre nós, ela obviamente gostava dele e a própria admitiu isso. Em resumo ninguém resiste ao Hae Il, principalmente quando ele está de jaqueta de couro e com aquela farda de policial.

Aliás, falando desse homem, que personagem hein? TODOS ao redor dele mudaram e muito depois de conhecê-lo e foi para melhor, como o Padre Kim não mede palavras e não se importa nem um pouco em jogar as verdades na cara de todo mundo, eles começaram a perceber o que estavam fazendo e como estavam agindo, é muito difícil admitir os próprios erros, ainda mais enxergá-los com os próprios olhos, então digamos que o Hae Il deu um empurrãozinho hahahaha.

A parte da política e corrupção, foi uma jogada de mestre, isso é muito presente na sociedade atual e não digo só na coreana não. A ambição e a sede de poder fizeram com que as pessoas se tornassem cada vez piores. Nós vimos como havia uma hierarquia mesmo dentro da “organização” e como as posições foram mudando, e enquanto uns eram empurrados ladeira abaixo, outros subiam na escada do poder.

O drama também fez alusão ao caso “Burning Sun” que envolve prostituição, distribuição de filmagens ilegais, drogas, entre outros. Utilizaram do clube “Rising Moon” para se referir ao caso, onde celebridades e políticos frequentavam, além disso as acusações eram as mesmas das da vida real.

Aprendi tanta coisa com esse drama, não esperava lições de vida em uma comédia, muito menos tanta realidade e profundidade. Me fez abrir os olhos para tantas coisas, ás vezes nós só precisamos olhar para uma situação de outro ângulo, o perdão é necessário, a capacidade de se arrepender verdadeiramente é a maior virtude que um ser humano pode ter. Em muitos momentos nos acorrentamos a determinados acontecimentos, mas a vida só anda para frente, não podemos mudar o passado, mas o futuro somos nós que o fazemos.

SAVE ME

Before I go on, I just want to issue a few warnings:

If you’re looking for romance, then this drama ain’t it.

If you can’t stand senseless murders - like myself - then this drama isn’t for you.

I might be spoiling, but there’s suicide. 

Save Me is the type of drama that’s packed with a few thrills, a bunch of creepy people, and a well-written plot which will have you asking the right kind of questions. If you’re the type who likes to read plot summaries before watching a drama, then please find a sensible one which does justice to the plot. 

There are many characters within this drama, each and every fictional person in Save Me plays an important role in the story. However I want to begin by touching on the Im family. The opening scenes introduce this family of four in what seems to be a moving van, it’s a dark, rainy night, and everything about this scene is super creepy. 

They do meet other instrumental characters on their journey, but I’ll leave their introduction for another time. Anyway, as the plot progresses, we learn that the Im family may not have had an easy life in Seoul, and it seems that such hardships follow the family to their new home. Or, an abandoned structure, so now we have a potentially homeless family, who deserves so much better.

This quartet is also introduced to us in the opening scenes, and while they might seem like normal high school students, they actually turn out to be the heroes we all deserve. These four have been friends for a long time, and so they know each other well, I admired the chemistry which was portrayed throughout the drama, and I liked how much they valued their friendship. 

However, this is K-drama World, where nothing lasts forever. Time passes, and we’ll see where this friendship goes through a bit of testing, you’ll find yourself rooting for them, as you wish for things to return to the way they were. You’ll then wonder just how these goofy guys fit into the plot, then you’ll realize just how important they really are. 

Everything seems to be progressing at a normal pace for everyone else, but the way in which this drama is written, us as viewers don’t get to see what’s going on behind the scenes. What I mean by that, is this guy dressed in white, along with his religious followers, all pop up out of nowhere. You’ll then realize that the plot unfolds in such a way, so that us as viewers can have the experience of a character living in this small town. 

On the outside, the man called Spiritual Father, and his church seems like any normal Christian Denomination. They worship, they praise God, and they pray like any other Christian believer. But then various occurrences will grace your screen, you’ll then realize that this is a cult, and you might feel a bit of fear for what’s about to happen.

These guys are seriously the epitome of evil. 

At this point in the plot, we’re no longer focusing on the broken friendships, or the fact that a few of our favourite characters have gone through some changes. Oh no, every fibre of your being will be following the events which take place due to the followers of this cult. With each and every episode, you’ll find yourself gripping your seat as more things are revealed. Also, your fighting spirit might be awakened as you root for the main characters to come out on top. 

I have to point out Sang Mi’s character and the important role she played in this drama. It was her asking our heroes for help which kickstarted the entire action. Sang Mi’s father seemed to be too caught up in the cult, her mother wasn’t mentally capable of caring for herself, and her brother wasn’t around anymore. Hence, everything that Sang Mi knew was no more. 

What I really admired is Sang Mi’s tenacity and bravery, even though she was rescued, she decided to return in order to rescue everyone else. I like seeing such selflessness in characters, and Sang Mi isn’t the only character with this trait. One good thing about Save Me is that the good characters put their own needs behind them as they try to bring down this powerful cult. 

Ok TaceYeon plays the character of Han Sang Hwan, the son of a politician, and also the tsundere character which we all deserve. Sang Hwan goes through a lot of personal development in this drama, and his character is quite likeable. You can find Ok TaceYeon in Assembly, and Bring it on, Ghost. 

Woo Do Hwan plays the character of Seok Dong Cheol, a very quiet person who experiences a few hardships in his life. Dong Cheol’s character is that of the mysterious type, however he is able to distinguish between right and wrong. Woo Do Hwan, in my opinion, stole the show with his performance, and so he must be commended for his acting. You can find him in Mad Dog, and The Great Seducer. 

Seo Ye Ji plays the character of Im Sang Mi, her character is the type of person who’s not afraid to stand up to her oppressors, and she’s also a very compassionate person. Seo Ye Ji was able to portray her character’s desperation, hopelessness, and fear very well, and so her acting was well on point. You can find Seo Yi Ji in Moorim School and Lawless Lawyer.

Save Me was directed by Kim Sung Gu who also worked on Priest, and the movie Genome Hazard. Save Me is based on the webcomic of the same name, and this was written by Jo Geum San. Jung Shin Gyu and Jung Yi Do are accredited for the script for this drama. 

Even though this drama may freak you out, there are a few comedic moments which will put a smile on your face. Also, there are a few action scenes here and there, which are entertaining. Save Me is one of OCN’s ideal drama to watch, you won’t be disappointed.
