You know what’s worst than the Monarchs or S-Rank dungeons for Jinwoo? His daughter meeting BOYS. She’s at preschool age and she has to meet boys her age and every boy at her preschool has a total crush on her and it’s taking everything out of Jinwoo not to do anything…drastic. His baby gets cute gifts like flowers from them and it’s suddenly WAR. Then there’s the play dates.Jinwoo definitely watches everything while his Shadow Army stands ready to deal with the threat if his daughter cries.

OKAY REAL TALK THO i feel like jinwoo would definitely try his best to stay calm and collected, like if he takes his daughter to school (she's around 9 or 10 year old, let's say) and he sees a boy approaching her after he drops her off, he'll lean back against his car and he'll keep one hand in his coat's pocket (the other one is pushing down beru's claws cause that ant is just itching to [censored] someone's kid)

and he'll be like "hey you guys be civil to each other all right" and he'll just toss her a little smile cause he wants to be the cool dad, the chill dad or whatever and beru is like "my king, are you sure you are going to let that disgusting human speak to our princess" and jinwoo is like "calm down it's just a boy. he won't do anything cra—" and then suddenly???? when jinwoo whirls his head to check on his baby girl one last time, the boy is kissing her on the cheek???? ON THE CHEEK??? ON MY BABY GIRL'S CHEEK?

If you’re still doing these, Halbarry?

Of course I’m still doing the ask game, especially for them!! I don’t think this will come as a surprise but I love them so much and def ship them!

1. What made you ship it?

This is kind of embarrassing to admit but I found a bunch of halbarry art on Pinterest my last year of high school that that’s what got me hooked. I started actually reading the comics because of it and discovered that they were, in fact, adorable :)

2. What are your favorite things about this ship?

This might be long lol.

To start off, I really enjoy how different they are. Barry is a very polite, introverted, and kind guy. He doesn’t stand out against the crowd, and doesn’t really want to. Despite his normalcy, he’s very smart and skilled. He prioritizes getting all the information before making a decision, and as so, is sometimes a chronic over-thinker. Hal, on the other hand, is much more extroverted, loud, and doesn’t care about other’s opinions. He stands out, and he doesn’t mind it. He is also very smart and skilled, but he tends to use his skills in the moment rather than plan anything out. His nature to just jump into things head first can make him seem as if he doesn’t think, and while not entirely true, he does put himself in a lot of situations that he could have avoided.

Despite their differences, these two actually value one another’s perspectives, which is surprising. As an over-thinker, Hal’s approach to jumping in and figuring out the rest later is very appealing to Barry. For Hal, Barry being willing to not doubt Hal’s skills and joining him is very important, and opens Hal up to listen to Barry’s plans. Hal completely respects Barry’s more quiet nature, and Barry loves letting Hal take the limelight. Neither are bothered by one another’s quirks, and instead have found a way to slot them in against one another’s to make themselves better.

Despite how on first glance they are super different, these twos relationship is built on similarities as well. Both lost a titular parent when younger in a brutal way that shaped the rest of their lives. Both feel a lot of guilt about their choices in life, whether it be Hal feeling like he left his family behind, or Barry feeling responsible for not catching his mother’s killer. Both have tendencies to avoid their problems, either by running away or overworking. Both feel so responsible for each and every action they take, and hold themselves unfairly. Their similarities is what makes them understand each other, and to connect. It’s easy to talk about hard topics when you are with someone who truly understands what you’ve been through. For characters who struggle to open up, neither have struggled to do so with each other, and it comes from a place of feel safe and respected. More so, they can call one another out for certain behaviors they know are destructive, without feeling superior or talked down to.

There’s also so much to say about how they build each other up. Barrys’s hope and Hal’s will are a match made in heaven. When Barry feels overwhelmed and lost, Hal’s always there to give him the willpower to keep moving. When Hal feels as if nothing he does is enough, Barry is there to bring hope back to Hal for the future. For both of them, things feel so much easier when they are around each other. They ground each other, in this way, Hal by reminding Barry of the present, and Barry by reminding Hal of the future. Barry tends to get stuck in the past, ironic for a time traveler, and Hal often gets stuck in the present. There connections to one another pull them from that, and provide valuable insight for them both.

Their interactions are also key to this. First of all, they have some of the best banter. They tease one another like no body else, and it’s really cute. Barry’s willingness to be cocky with Hal is a nice change of pace, and Hal’s ability to take jabs without feeling personally attacked goes a long way to show how neither are afraid of the other in an emotional capacity. They also have a ton of sit downs where they hash out their feelings, and nothing is off the table. They can bring up the other’s flaws and traumas without concern, because both know they mean well. Their respect and adoration for one another is what allows them to feel so comfortable with anything.

I could keep going, there’s so much to talk about, so many themes from their comics that both mirror in one another. Both have had moments where they have played god and lost. Both have died and come back, not sure how they are supposed to fit in after their death. Both have helped teach a new legacy of heroes. There is literally so much. I could never talk about it enough and do it justice. They are both such well developed characters who work together in such a way that makes them better people. They love being around each other for that reason. It’s s just such a good relationship with so much going on.

3. Is there any unpopular opinions you have on the ship?

Not that I am aware of. I haven’t seen many bad takes about these two. It’s a pretty unproblematic ship in that way lol.

I will say that sometimes people overly yaoi-ify the two and that’s a little annoying. I don’t enjoy the how people sometimes infantilize Barry or make Hal just, the coolest guy ever. There both are kind of lame and their relationship works because of their respect and equality. Idk I don’t think that’s too controversial.
