Justin Horowitz at MMFA:
Project 2025 advisory board members have attacked or outright called for the end of no-fault divorce, the option to dissolve a marriage without having to prove wrongdoing by a partner. Research highlighted by CNN found “no-fault divorce correlates with a reduction in female suicides and a reduction in intimate partner violence,” including “an 8 to 16% decrease in female suicides after states enacted no-fault divorce laws.” Project 2025 is backed by a nearly-900 page policy book called Mandate for Leadership, which extensively outlines potential approaches to governance for the next Republican administration, including replacing federal employees with extremists and Trump loyalists and attacking LGBTQ rights, abortion, and contraception. The Heritage Foundation’s proposals have a track record of success — the first Trump administration implemented 64% of Mandate’s policy recommendations. Project 2025 is also supported by a coalition of over 100 conservative organizations, many of which have spent years promoting critiques of no-fault divorce as “destructive” for society — or even blaming it for enabling a “culture of death.” According to a Media Matters review, at least 22 Project 2025 advisory board members have made similar comments targeting, restricting, or eliminating no-fault divorce. Additionally, MAGA and far-right media figures have pushed for the removal of no-fault divorce laws across the country, and several local Republican parties in Texas, Nebraska, and Louisiana have called for the dissolution of no-fault divorce in some capacity.
Project 2025 partner organizations, including the American Family Association, Concerned Women for America, Family Research Council, and The Heritage Foundation, have called for significant restrictions or an outright ban on no-fault divorce.

Trump may be about to sign the death sentence of the National Institute of Health, and, by extension, the Office of Lab Animal Welfare.
He gutted research animal protections.
Any vertebrate that isn't a mammal will have no rights.
Neither will mice or rats.
If NIH grants are stopped, researchers can't pay anyone. They can't perform research. They can't pay for veterinary services.
They won't be required to provide veterinary services.
The only medical research that will happen will be self funded by big pharma, and they can torture the animals and skew all the lab results that they want.
Just like Musk did to the primates in his neuralink research.
I don't know what's going to happen to me or anyone else at the university where I work. My job is to make sure the animals are treated humanely and to provide veterinary care. I'm especially scared about what's going to happen to those research animals if veterinary staff gets laid off. The USDA only covers mammals, and it doesn't even cover all of them. Every rat I've ever made a tiny paper gift box full of marshmallows for, every mouse I've ever watched grow up, every rodent I've ever separated from an aggressive dominant brother and then treated their tiny wounds, they have no protections if NIH goes down. Decades of research into humane handling, euthanasia, and animal behavior will be tossed aside and wasted.
Please, do everything you can. Protest. Contact your representatives. Anything you can do. Do it for science, for medicine, for people's lives, for people's jobs, and for the animals.

I hate the argument abt when you say customizable games should have fat people and people say "well it would be harder to model or scale clothes to fit" cause like i guess youre technically right, but why then are fat people not seen as worth the effort to actually code and model these things? Someone else said this abt baldur's gate but they said "in an RPG like that game shouldn't the priority be on allowing people to express themselves as much as possible with designing their character?" Also like fat people aren't a rarity or minority, even if all media ever wants to give people the impression that the world is 99% skinny people with maybe one or two fat villains or sidekick friends.
#A lottt of arguments against including or accommodating fat people eventually boil down to#Continuing to believe fatness is a choice. And therefore the burden to change should be on them to lose weight#Rather than for institutions or society or other people to put in the effort to humanize and accommodate fat people#Fat politics

One of the weirdest things I love about TMA is how embarrassing it all is. Like, romanticism is fun sometimes, but embarrassment equally so.
If you've ever meaningfully interacted with the supernatural, you know that shit can be awkward. If you've ever had an office job, you know how embarrassing it can be! Pretty much if you've ever experienced any form of life, you know how embarrassing a day of existence is.
And my god Jon's life is embarrassing! He can't stop getting kidnapped, he doesn't have any friends, he can't even get his job done due to infinite supernatural interruptions. That's really embarrassing.
He's an adult who effectively has to relive being a child because he's thrust into a world that no longer makes sense, and that vulnerability is so real!
But Jon's not the only one who's going through embarrassing stuff, oh no! Martin is hopelessly in love with his cruel boss who barely looks at him; Tim and Sasha hooked up only for Sasha to break it off against Tim's wishes; and hell, Melanie literally got laughed off of YouTube and BECAME A MEME.
These people are going through awful, otherworldly terrors, but not once is it ignored that they must still suffer through painstakingly awkward everyday moments too.
I suppose it comes down to realism. Understanding that the supernatural can become just another part of life in an annoying way, and letting the characters be normal fumbling people makes it hit so much closer to home.
I think all this is why The Magnus Archives is popular not only as horror, but as an explanation of human relationships; the everyday realism is so deeply entwined with the otherworldly but both exist in their own right. And this in itself is realistic, as how far away is horror from your daily life, really? And how different is fear to embarrassment?
#I just think that in a world all about image there's a lot tk be said about the horror of embarrassment...#God i just love the humanity of TMA it's so important to me#Characters are awkward!!! If you're writing real people and your dialogue isn't overly stylised PLEASE LET THEM BE AWKWARD#(I have no idea if any of this even makes sense but I feel deeply passionate about it so hopefully that drives it into your brain 💀)#tma#the magnus archives#the magnus institute#jonathan sims#martin blackwood#jonmartin#jmart#tim stoker#sasha james#melanie king

I know it’s all been said but there’s just something so important to me about Solas longing to return to the Fade before inquisition and retreat to his time of being a spirit of wisdom.
The whole time he just wants to be wisdom or pride and deny himself everything else. It’s a reflection of his shame of what he’s done as a person and also his fear of humanity and what it means about him.
And then there’s Lavellan. She is in more or less the same position he was in eons ago. Being seen as something more than a person but also less of one (a la scout Harding in the joh dlc). She has to make the worst hardest decisions and is held to the standard of a deity’s chosen that she doesn’t even believe in. she’s just one person trying to do her best at job she didn’t want but someone has to do.
But! She’s undeniably mortal. Lavellan relies on her advisors and inner circle and that helps her process her regrets and the painful decisions she makes. She has to be a part of a whole to accomplish her goals. Compare that to Solas who only uses others instead of relying on them, true to a spirit of pride.
So for Solas to say she draws his attention from the Fade, he’s saying that she draws him away from his instinct as a spirit. She challenges him to be a person because he hasn’t been able to accept that he is one for thousands of years.
And the only way for him to return to the Fade of his own volition like he wanted to all those years ago is not in retreat of himself but recognizing his personhood and regrets that he has as a result of it. He has to meet Lavellan where she is which is the hardest and best thing for him.
#they’re everything to me#I just really identify with solas feeling like he has to do the hard things alone#like having to live up to this idea of who you are and not just being#and lavellans struggle with being an elf in a human institution#I didn’t even get to that#I could go on forever about them#solavellen hell#solavellan#solas dragon age#solas x female lavellan#solas#datv spoilers#datv#dai#dragon age#dragon age inquisition#lavellan

"mormonism is american exceptionalism" has gotta be my least favorite anti-mormon take out there like you could talk about literally anything and THAT'S what you're going with????????? like you can talk about our weird relationship with manifest destiny and colonisation (extremely valid talking points!!!!!!) but to act like some kind of specific allegiance to the united states as an institution is inherent to our doctrine is so..... silence......
#me logging on to the internet tm to be called a dangerous cultist for the tenth time this week#like have y'all not considered that maybe our church has developed cult-ish practices because we keep being called satan spawn???????#and that fuels our collective insulated persecution complex as a faith minority? like let's just sit down and have a conversation about why#somebody's faith might be meaningful to them and the human reasons why they hold onto it-- and help them extricate that faith from fascism#that would be a million times more helpful and constructive for everyone involved#to put it in simple terms: being mean to mormons will only produce more mean mormons :/#making mormons feel like they're in danger will make mormonism dangerous#this goes for literally any community under the sun#saw a take the other day that missions are meant to train missionaries to be scared of the world outside of the church#like??????#we're never gonna solve the actual problems with this church/institution/cult if y'all keep saying nonsense like this 😭😭😭#oh my gosh 😭#vent over

it is very telling that average genshin players cannot comprehend seeing an actual mature, qualified leader that is actually good at taking her job seriously after meeting archons who either is still childish, clowning whimsically, or straight up incompetent.
#it's kinda funny that the best God in terms of actually fulfilling their duties to the T is the mortal one#there's absolutely nothing wrong with the other archons their flaws make their characters extremely compelling#but it's kind of insane to call mavuika bland for being good at her job as if she's still not inherently flawed with the martyrdom complex#people keep pointing out to her: aren't you tired? don't you have dreams of your own? isn't your want important too?#she's such a fascinating character yknow#mavuika#that is#she cares so deeply about the humans in natlan and she has abundant love for them and actively doing things to give natlan a better future#and yet she could NOT remotely take her own advice and wisdom for herself#you kinda have to remember not all archons are here because they want to be archon#nahida did not ask to be an archon neither did ei#and don't even get me started on furina#zhongli and venti take archonhood like parenting as expected from them but they're so ancient that they're entering their silly granpa era#focalors is the first instance we see of 'new' god doing something... godly#she is forever the punkest archon for what she did but her plan still equired a great suffering nonetheless#after all when you want to save your nation by going AGAINST the system you cannot do it without sacrificing a soul or two#which leads me to why people think it's irrational to kill off capitano when what he's doing is also punk#focalors dared celestia by returning the hydro authority to the dragon they stole it from and destroyed hydro throne#forever changing the institution that is The Seven#capitano dared ronova by giving his immortality to lord of the night and by that rewriting ronova's curse on him#he changed the rules of the ley lines forever#anyway.#narratively speaking capitano is a great foil for mavuika and I'm just glad it's him we met in natlan#hyv didn't make the short animated for mavuika just for you to call her bland

What is the current population of Gallifreyans living on Earth as of 2025? And is England really Gallifreyan central as suggested in the stories over the galaxy? And if so why and does the Doctor have anything to do with it?
Are there Gallifreyans on Earth?
🌍 Population Count: No Idea.
When Gallifreyans end up on Earth and decide to stay, they're usually there for a reason. Some might just like the idea of fourth retirement skiing in the Alps or enjoying New York's vibe. But not many Gallifreyans see Earth the way the Doctor does—which is to say, as the most important, most fascinating, most adventure-prone planet in the universe.
If a Gallifreyan is on Earth, it's usually not because they're drawn to it. It's because they don't want to be found. It's the perfect hiding spot for a few reasons:
✅ It's a primitive planet—which means it's legally protected from most direct alien interference under Galactic Law. Anyone trying to find the Gallifreyan will have to file a ridiculous amount of paperwork with the Shadow Proclamation, and no one wants to do that.
✅ They blend in extremely well. Gallifreyans look close enough to humans that they don't need to alter their biology, use a Chameleon Arch, or invent some tragic backstory.
So, are there Gallifreyans living on Earth? Almost definitely, but we'll never know how many.
👽Is the UK Really Gallifreyan Central?
1️⃣ Space-Time Hotspots – London and Cardiff are ridiculously active when it comes to weird space-time phenomena. The rift in Cardiff is basically a free energy source for any stranded or tired TARDIS. London, meanwhile, has enough alien invasions to be a nightmare for insurance companies. As a rule, Time Lords and TARDISes tend to get a little more drawn to places and times where there's more activity.
2️⃣ Treacherous Landings – Gallifreyan navigation systems are complex, and one wrong digit in the coordinates could send a TARDIS straight into the Pacific Ocean. Time Lords who end up on Earth often find themselves in the same few locations—not necessarily because they meant to, but because it's safer than materialising in the middle of nowhere.
3️⃣ The Doctor's Fault (Obviously) – Let's be real. Earth is a tiny planet, populated by a lesser species, and objectively not that interesting.
Most Gallifreyans haven't looked into it that much and have a very warped perception of Earth because the only information they get is from the Doctor's antics. If you were a Gallifreyan casually curious about Earth, you'd assume the entire planet consisted of:
London, which is constantly being invaded.
Cardiff, which apparently contains the only TARDIS fuel station worth stopping at.
Quarries, which seem to make up 90% of Earth's natural terrain.
A warehouse. Something's always going on in that warehouse.
Motorways that may or may not lead directly into hellscapes.
A rotating selection of remote villages with a tendency for cult activity.
Some other rural bits around the edge.
4️⃣ It's Trendy (Probably) – If the Doctor has a reputation for going here, then other young Gallifreyans might find it a bit trendy to visit as well. Some of them probably do it ironically. Some genuinely want to see what all the fuss is about. Some are definitely stranded and making the best of it.
🏫 So ...
We can be quietly confident that there are Gallifreyans on Earth right now, but we have no clue how many. The UK is Gallifreyan central—not intentionally, but it just keeps happening.
Is it the Doctor's fault? Absolutely.

Everyone on this website talks about the choice to not have children to end the terrible cycle of familial abuse or whatever but I feel like nobody on here wants to talk about the more mundane and pressing reality of wanting children but being paralyzed by the understanding that bringing them into our current society inherently means traumatizing them in some small way simply because there are no good options.
Like. Dont want to put a child through public school because public school sucks, but homeschool is isolating and private school is not an option for ppl with no money. Dont want to raise a child with a forced gender but attempting to raise a child neutrally may socially isolate them or cause authorities to question your parenting methods. Don't want to raise a child in an isolated suburb where they have nowhere to travel independantly but affordable housing with ample room for families in city environments are basically nonexistent.
It can be hard not to feel judgemental of yourself for wanting to bring a child into the world at all under these conditions. Unlike with refusing to continue the "cursed bloodline" or whatever, there's just no personal pride one can take in deciding not to have kids because the world would force me to make choices that hurt them irregardless of my desires.
#and this isn't me saying i do or don't want kids but rather#these are my main worries with the possibility of having children#also i think this is a seperable issue from worrying about kids just getting hurt in the normal human way#i don't want to shield my future child from any possible negative experiences like#heartbreak and loss and things like that are very normal#but I'm talking institutional. im talking the little violences that made my actual abuse so easy to hide#and the systems that further traumatized me#the fact that id just have to put my potential child through them too just... sucks.

Pastoral Landscape with Ruins
Artist: Adriaen van de Velde (Dutch, 1636–1672)
Date: 1664
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL, United States
Description
With its warm southern sunlight and leisurely interactions between herders, this painting of the Italian countryside would have affirmed urban Dutch perceptions of rural areas as places of innocence and peace. The son of a painter, Adriaen van de Velde was also inspired by the cattle pieces of Paulus Potter and the Italianate pastoral scenes of Nicolaes Pietersz. Berchem. He achieved a harmonious balance of elements by studying the landscape from life as well as by sketching the cattle in the pasture and the human figures in the studio.
