No aid to Israel without conditions and humanitarian aid to Gazans!

The World Health Organization warns that unless fighting in Gaza stops and substantially more aid is delivered immediately, the death toll there from hunger and preventable disease could overtake the number killed in the bombardment. Urgently addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is not only a moral imperative but a vital US and Israeli national security priority. So I’m writing to ask that aid to Israel be passed ONLY alongside humanitarian relief and with necessary oversight measures to ensure our aid is used in compliance with US and international law—especially since Benjamin Netanyahu just rejected a carefully negotiated ceasefire proposal. He’s apparently fine with continued carnage in Gaza, but that doesn’t mean we should be, and it definitely doesn’t mean we should help pay for it. Leaders from all countries involved—especially the U.S.—should be focussed on getting the remaining hostages home, pressuring Netanyahu to step down, saving innocent people in Gaza, and working out a peace agreement that includes the establishment of a Palestinian state. More weaponry with no strings attached accomplishes none of that. Thanks.

🇸🇩 Right now and as we speak, families in @Sudan are forced to abandon their homes, clutching onto a fragile hope of safety.

🇸🇩 This humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding amidst forgotten wars and demands our urgent attention and unwavering solidarity.

🇸🇩 Currently, 24.8 million people need humanitarian assistance. The ongoing military conflict has caused the largest internal displacement crisis with approximately 9.05 million having crossed borders as of 31 December 2023. 

🟢 Please follow @red_maat, @bsonblast and others through their platforms to learn about the background of the conflict and day-to-day updates of what’s happening on the ground.

🇸🇩 In this post, I want to bring everyone’s attention to MUTUAL AID. Community-based mutual aid groups are continuing to play a MAJOR role in the humanitarian response, especially as rampant insecurity restricts international relief agencies from accessing the most affected areas.

🇸🇩 It is pivotal to understand that these community-driven #mutualaid responses are building collective trust & legitimacy. They are doing all that they can to prevent further erosion of the torn social fabric by mobilising communities, not creating the dependence that traditional w*stern aid often impose.

🇸🇩 We must recognise that supporting community-led responses does not only save lives but directly contributes towards rebuilding a Sudan that is directly responsive to the needs of its citizens.

🇸🇩 We must continue to support the agency of the people of Sudan to resist and organize with their communities during this devastating conflict, and do all we can to support them in saving lives and their beautiful country.

POTUS must put strong conditions on Israel funding now.

The time has come to put strong conditions on any aid going to the Israeli government. Benjamin Netanyahu isn’t listening to President Biden, or to the families of hostages, or to the global community. He’s not interested in negotiating towards peace. He doesn’t seem to care about freeing the hostages. Instead he’s insisting on undertaking an assault on Rafah, a neighborhood filled with starving civilians who have no place left to go. It’s a mission that will have a catastrophically high body count. Any American funding should be conditioned on his absolutely not doing this. In general, I do NOT want my tax dollars paying for missiles, bombs, or armaments to be used against a ravaged population of mostly women and children in Gaza. I don’t want it paying for war crimes. I don’t want it funding settlement expansion. The U.S. has leverage. It’s time use it. Sometimes even our closest friends require tough talk. Put strong conditions on Israel funding now. Thanks.
