Billi the Belligerent's mobility was getting so bad a few days ago I was starting to think about evaluating her QOL and making scary decisions
Sunday evening she got her cartrophen injection, and yesterday she was downright peppy! Was happy to receive scritches, allowed her insulin shots with no problem, practically skipped to her food plate when I filled it (as well as a large, geriatric, arthritic cat with numbness in her extremities can 'skip')
She still can't walk very sturdily or very far, but clearly the cartrophen makes a difference in how comfortable she is. I should ask the doc if we can increase it to twice a week or something, because she seems to feel pretty great on Monday but is a sad sad lump by Friday
Speaking of Friday, this Friday she's getting her second monthly Solensia injection, which is supposed to help with her arthritis as well. So, fingers crossed that it will make a positive difference

Natural Ways to Lower Your Blood Pressure
This article is originally published on Freedom from Diabetes website, available here. Nowadays millions of people across the world facing high blood pressure problem. If you Left it untreated, it can lead to heart disease, stroke, kidney damage and even death. Unfortunately hypertension—to give it its medical name—doesn’t always show up with clear signs and symptoms; which is why it is sometimes referred to as the silent killer. All is not doom and gloom, however. You can lower your blood pressure, and this article gives you ten different ways to do this, naturally. The normal range for BP is 80/120; anything above 90/140 puts your BP in the hypertensive zone.
Tumblr media
Natural ways to reduce blood pressure
Do exercise regularly:
Exercise is the most important for us to make your heart healthy. It help to improves its blood-pumping efficiency, and lowers the pressure in your arteries. All in all, it is one of the most basic and best things you can do to normalize your blood pressure. Even simple activity, like walking—provided it is done vigorously, and regularly—can improve your BP and heart health. Try and get in at least 30 min of exercise a day.
Lower sodium consumption
Salt has become so prevalent in today's world, that it permeates almost everything you eat, especially processed food. Salt contains sodium, which the body tries to balance by holding water. This can cause BP to rise, stressing your heart and blood vessels.
Reduce or cut out alcohol
Alcohol causes blood vessels to narrow, due to the action of a hormone called Renin. Constricted blood vessels automatically translate to higher blood pressure In addition Renin decreases fluid output (urine). Higher fluid levels and constricted blood vessels are dangerous combinations for BP.
Eat more high-Potassium foods
You have to focus on eating Leafy green veggies, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, Nuts and seeds, Beans If sodium increases fluid retention, potassium has the opposite effect. It helps rid the body of sodium and lowers pressure on your blood vessels.
De-Stress High-stress levels drive BP up. When you’re under stress, your endocrine system floods your body with two hormones, cortisol, and adrenaline.
Reduce weight
Studies consistently show that even a modest weight loss of 5% of your body weight leads to a significant reduction of blood pressure levels. This is because, with less weight to lug around, your heart can do a more efficient job pumping blood.
Over time, high blood pressure can cause a range of health problems, including diabetes and kidney damage, so it's crucial to maintain your blood pressure within a normal range.

it's so fucking annoying that the public opinion on SSRI seems to be that they make you into an emotionless zombie and the side effects are clearly not worth taking them, the implication being that nobody was in a bad enough state before taking them that they may consider the side effects worth it. like idk man i just don't care that much when you compare it to uncontrollable mood swings and constant intrusive suicidal thoughts. like ppl act as if this is some kind of anti-pharma progressive line of thought but they don't actually give a shit about informed consent before beginning the medication in any meaningful sense, they mostly just seem to think depression isn't real and nobody would continue taking antidepressants if they knew there would be drawbacks. i assure you my consent is very informed i just don't like being completely out of control and scared of myself, which is what i was fucking like off medication. maybe someday if i have a few months of my life free to have outbursts at people and desperately want to kill myself ill try a new medication or weaning off this one or whatever. if you want it that bad you can prepare the cash and some apology letters.

Did you…did you even read the post?
I don’t know if you’ve ever been to therapy but I have and I have a “mental illness stiffer than light social anxiety” and one of my key mantras for response prevention given to me by my therapist is “I control my OCD, it does not control me.” Suggesting that all people with mental illnesses are helpless to their behaviors is absurb.
And that’s not even getting started on the fact that yelling at someone (a controllable behavior) is not at all the same as an autistic meltdown or *checks notes* intentionally putting yourself into a diabetic coma out of forced politeness????
Tumblr media
this is gonna be a really cool frame to apply to anyone with any mental illness stiffer than light social anxiety. can't wait to be berated for having an autistic meltdown and not taking personal responsibility for how much of a fucking bummer it is for everyone around me lmfao
