A blink and you miss it moment of Cassian becoming an excellent leader in episode 9 of Andor.
Tumblr media
Ulaf is slowing the team down, and Cassian (ā€˜Keefā€™) has the idea to swap places with Taga. Taga asks why and Ham rather brutally tells him ā€œKeef is fasterā€. Hurt, Taga grumbles ā€œThereā€™s a better way of saying that!ā€
Tumblr media
After Kino comes over to investigate, he asks Cassian whether the swap was his idea, clearly about to compliment him.
Kino is still quite antagonistic towards Cassian (who he has marked as a troublemaker like Melshi) so we might expect him to enjoy receiving some praise but instead of accepting the compliment, Cassian says that the swap was Tagasā€™s idea. ā€œAre you kidding?ā€ says Taga in respect, and happily accepts the praise, making up for the insult 30 seconds earlier.

Earlier, Cassian wanted to avoid attention for self-centred reasons . Now, this trait is becoming a positive leadership quality . Standing behind others, encouraging them on, freely allowing them to use his ideas and even his words. Motivating them to find their own motivation. ļæ¼

^^ Kino using Cassianā€™s words
I think Kino realises exactly what was going on here and comes away with new respect for Cassian. Kino is the figurehead and voice of the prison rebellion, but itā€™s pretty clear who is the real leader.

Could my opponents be right? Partly right? Is there truthor merit in their position or argument? Is my reaction onethat will relieve the problem, or will it just relieve any frustration? Will my reaction drive my opponents further awayor draw them closer to me? Will my reaction elevate the estimation good people have of me? Will I win or lose? What price will I have to pay if I win? If I am quiet about it,will the disagreement blow over? Is this difficult situationan opportunity for me?

I miss socializing with friends. Ever since covid I kinda lost the will to reconnect with anyone I used to know. It seems hard to do for some reason. Too forced. I feel different somehow. Like Iā€™d have to reintroduce myself like a blind date.
ā€œHello, Iā€™m Kari. I like to spend my time watching and laughing at silly animal videos and looking at recipes to potentially try or just enjoy the concept of someone going through an immense amount of effort and process that Iā€™ll never even attempt. Actually, I love watching, thereby investing my energy in, the ā€œprocessā€of just about anything, if itā€™s a subject I enjoy, and can get behind. Usually things on YouTube, usually something random but when broken down into minutia, fascinating! Or I like to discuss/watch something that has no triggers and brings me joy; ie goats, vintage things (like antiquing, collecting things and flea markets and fairs), neuroscience, dogs with the zoomies, stuff like thatā€¦
I also like to read, speak about and listen to philosophy and quantum theory and physics, specifically about energy and how it relates to the human condition and consciousness in general. Turn offs: gossip, rudeness, lying, talking shit about people, and any drama that isnā€™t scripted, and Iā€™m usually not much into that eitherā€¦ā€
I dunno. I should most likely finesse this a bit and focus more on the positive aspectsā€¦just for self preservation/manifestation purposes. After all, you attract what you focus on, and how you perceive it. So, who knows? Maybe Iā€™ll get back out there someday. šŸ‘šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ’“

The thing I discover in reading older books I'd that I so want to read thr modern books in conversation with this one. How does or doesn't this apply now? How has our understanding changed? Do these arguments still hold? How do sexism, racism, etc that were ignored then interact with the messages?
