Day 1/50
Hello again! Few updates from my end as I have been mia for some time:
I passed PLAB 2! (15/16 Stations)
Currently working in India but I haven't been able to find a job in the UK NHS system.
I have been applying for 4 months and I've applied to 140+ jobs so far but unfortunately nothing has worked.
Since I've been wanting to take up psychiatry, I am planning to give the MSRA exam in Jan next year. I am yet to apply and I hope I get invited to write the exam!
I'm doing a 50 days of studying challenge. I don't think it's possible for me to study everyday because of work and I don't think it's easy for me to do long hours anymore. I've been trying for a month and I figured this was the best way to keep myself accountable.
What I've done today:
Time studied: 2 hours 16 min
Currently going through emedica question bank.
I finished psych today, and very little ophthalmology.
Didn't do a lot but small steps ig

Hey....I was just curious about how would u will be preparing your cv....cause I don't think I could do anything in my college
I completely understand. My college isn't very involved either so everything I've done is outside of college.
Teach your fellow classmates and take pictures/ feedback forms as proof
Join medical societies. You can look for them on Instagram or LinkedIn. I could participate in volunteer projects as well as make projects of my own (to show leadership)
Attend different confrences in the field you're interested in
If you'd like you can do additional things such as an audit/ writing a research paper to boost your CV.
I hope this helps!

I passed PLAB 1! I scored 156/180 and the passing score was 117. Feeling extremely grateful today!
My PLAB 2 seat has been booked for March of next year so I am probably going to take a long hiatus from this page
I am currently working on my research paper and I will start looking for jobs soon because the second exam is so far away (if anyone has any leads in Bangalore please do lmk)
//Honestly so grateful for studyblr for keeping me motivated and helping me hold myself accountable. Hoping for good luck for your future too!//

Submitted my completed log book today!!! (I was done with internship a few days ago but signatures took a while. It's still a long process to get my permanent registration but I'm so happy!)
I have been attending a lot of classes because I have some time on my hands. Currently doing the research methodology course, a course on touch typing and Spanish!
I also started a new workout program and I'm meal prepping every 3-4 days so that I'm forced to learn to cook. I've also started to crochet because my grandmother's stuff was lying around and I've gotten pretty good at it! I was thinking about making a matching bolero and crop top, I'm just waiting for the yarn to arrive.
I also started studying for plab 2 but I think I can start studying better now that I only have paperwork to do!

Plotted out the next few months for my PLAB timeline
Studied Spanish
Looked into research methodology
Did a push workout at the gym
//I am probably going to start being very regular here from Monday onwards. I finish my internship on Saturday, start my research work from Sunday and hopefully start preparing for plab 2 from Monday!
Also for the last week or so I have been learning Spanish because I have the time and so far it's going good! Idk how long i would be able to learn it for but I'm going to try to be consistent. I also got 75 days of gratitude which is probably the longest duration that I have kept this up for//

Had a huge case load at the hospital today (documentation always takes forever)
Spent some time reading atomic habits
Spent 2 hours adding on places that I could possibly do a clinical attachment at to my excel sheet
Looked into some research courses that teach the basics of research methodology (I hate research but I have the time to do some so might as well try to boost my CV further. Also ya girl knows nothing about research lmaoooo). I have an introductory call tomorrow which I am extremely excited about, if their module makes sense to me I might proceed with that course.
I started a new workout program yesterday. Did a push workout today!
//Low key thinking about starting an Instagram account to document my journey through PLAB. If that's something you're interested in please let me know! //

Hi 🌸
I am still currently in the process of the PLAB pathway, and I don't know how valuable my advice would be.
I could help you out a bit more if you let me know where you are in this pathway because it's quite a long process! Feel free to DM me or send it in as another ask.

Hi , hoping that your prep for the exam is oky ..
Can you share with me how you set astudy plan for upcoming exam ?
Hi 🌸
This is how I study for an upcoming exam and this is what personally works for me (it may not work for everyone so please adapt it as needed)
I take the total time that I have and divide it into 3 segments of 50%, 30%, 20%.
50 % (First reading)
Since this is the biggest chunk of time I go through all the available material I have in this period. For example I was preparing for the exam I recently wrote for 3 months, so I spent 1.5 months of that on my first reading.
I went through everything possible in this time period- I went through all the notes provided by the app I was using, all the questions and so on.
The main goal of this period is three things: understand everything as thoroughly as possible, make your own notes, and analyse what are the most high yield topics.
30 % (Second reading)
In this reading I only revise my notes and go through questions that I have flagged.
Since I had one month for my second reading, I kept repeating the material using spaced repetition to make sure that I was learning and remembering topics well
The goal of this reading is to identify weak topics, questions that I tend to fail at and flag them appropriately so I can revisit it in my third reading
20% (Third reading)
In the third reading I only go through my flagged notes/topics that I am still not good at, and questions that I seem to not remember very well
For me the second reading was 2 weeks long and in the end I had about 80 pages of notes and 300 questions that I wasn't the best at but I tried to perfect it.
Additional tips
Keep solving question papers regularly - and analyse the answers at the end. I had made an Excel sheet to keep track of my scores and to see if they improve with time.
Trust yourself enough to only do the flagged questions and notes. In the last few days it's important to focus on the same so that you can score more and you don't waste time with concepts you already know
Hope this helps!
