i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you

#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what #allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of #the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than #to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do #im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt #take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was #mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their #mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that #explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain #direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in #arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to #engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out #theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive #a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked #picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing #sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example #for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war #is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old #wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for #steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with #especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can #look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never #treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time #but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made #feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them #accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me #yapping #diary

congratulations on joining the murder club anon!!!! depending on who you ask the name refers to either people who have murdered or people who have witnessed murder. usually both. actually extremely often both. it's a swell time you'll feel right at home (don't mind our collective skyglass knife collection in the back)

#im still not far into nemesis personally but im very much enjoying it #honestly in a weird way it feels like it's moving faster than HD did. which. is funny bc nemesis is like The gated behind item grinds quest #idk. HD was a fun slowburn where we adventured around gathering our rogues gallery before the action kicked in #nemesis on the other hand feels like im picking up halfway through a batman serial #fallen london #ask #it's WAY more fucked up right off the bat than HD was. honestly ive thought abt red honey for ages. that's so fucked up #and we LEAD with that?? the thing about andor season 1 being a moses arc is that cassian andor literally is moses. once you mention that moses’s rise to leader serves as scaffolding to almost every major character moment for cassian well you just can’t unsee it

#cassian andor #even the changes i'm still hmm on #his backstory is so extremely moses coded! there's a foreign woman who takes him from his culture and people and language #he might live because of it but his perpetual cycle of fleeing and exile and exodus starts as a child #she gives him a new name and takes his past #as an adult he kills the guard(s)#he flees into the wilderness #he becomes a shepherd (even if its just undercover)#his people are living in the house of slavery #he becomes a prisoner #he uses water- small and massive unthinkable amounts of flowing water- to lead an entire prison revolt #he ends up in exile and diaspora again and again #and the season ends with a miniature exodus of his comunity from ferrix with bix and brasso and jezzy and wilmon and b2emo #but on a meta level like: this entire season is cassian at the burning bush #he's a man with unclean lips who neither thinks himself worthy of being the hand of deliverance #nor does he think exodus is possible #like even that very meta arc change from dyed in the wool born revolutionary to good man in constant exile who finally turns and faces the #burning bush #that is MOSES coded. i don't know how to feel about those changes but i DO love the idea that #it's cassians' imperfections and time as an ordinary man among the people that give him the radical empathy and experience precisely to #/become/ this leader I OF UNCLEAN LIPS etc #also well does he ever reside in the promised land

#IM OT GOOD WITH POEPLEEE Eepecially not new people and #the girl im training is quiet And so am i so im like forcing mhself to be kind of outgoing Its torture.#And i also dont know how to..ask people to do things #or tell them to do something #Which is like. almost all of what training is #omfg im only 18 and shy whyy whyyy #well its not too bad actall6 hut inwas really nervous at first but im getting more used to it #but i gave to train people bc im a Team Lead #which means nothing to me except thay i know how to do my job #and a 50 cent pay increase than not being one Wow..!#i wanna sleep so bad #Only. 3 and half more hours after my break ends.#i am glad tho atkeast it is good experience for like.. interacting with people #this job in general has made me a lot better at that and less anxiety aroujd it #but im still a shy and quiet person to begin with #and i say weird things on accident #Its funny tbh hiw often i say something just like. Something that i think is regular and normal #and not suppsed to be a joke or comedic and ppl im talking to start laughing #lile not my intent but if youre happy im happy💗

I'm curious... Granny April will always be Granny April, but how do the turtle tots see Casey Marie? Since you said they know most of their family history, does this mean they know Casey wanted to train them for war? How do they feel about this? Are some of them still a little resentful or are they already at peace with what happened and are ready to have a relationship with her?

The tots actually know April has a daughter! Even if Mikey makes a sour face whenever she does, April talks about her kid to the babies and tells them that they have a cousin. Even if the kids are aware of her existence growing up they don't really question why they've never met Casey because they know that New York is still somewhat of a war zone and that their cousin is basically the leader of the rebellion so she's definitely busy (she's somewhat of a very stranged family member since the start lol). The kids never truly talk to Casey until they are adults though. Mikey felt very strongly about them being old enough to decide if wanting to meet her after knowing she created them for war and all.

Since Michelangelo was actually able to save the babies from a child soldier life, the kids are rather forgiving of what Casey did because in the end that didn't happen and by this time Casey actually is remorseful of her way of thinking when creating them and just wants to get to know them as a family member. It takes a bit of time though (the kids, even if willing to forgive her and move on, are still very much on high alert around her (cough Uno and Moja cough). After all, they know of Mikey's life story and feel a sort of kinship of anger directed towards her (It fades away in the end though).

Definitely not resentful but still not the most buddy buddies straight from the start.

#i feel like i need to make a timeline chart at this point #so explaining more #the rebellion wins back new york a few years before the kids turn 18 #thats actually when april starts visiting mikey and the kids in japan #so before that. casey for the first few years had no idea that april was communicating with mikey and the babies #but after casey finally decides to focus on leading the rebellion #april tells her about them (the kids and mikey).#but for the sake of mikey and his good mental health they decide that casey is not to communicate with mikey or the kids just yet #SO #after april starts going to japan is where april starts talking with mikey on how they would plan the whole telling the babies the family #lore and how they came to be #so when the kids get told #they do want to meet their cousin because. these kids didn't grow up traumatized and they are just curious of their cousin #and they know casey has no ill intentions anymore (april and mikey told them this)#it takes a few visits from casey trough the years but they end up having a good cousin relationship!#enough that mikey feels safe enough with going back to new york sometimes now that its safe (with the kids of course)#and after seeing the kids actually having a good relationship with casey marie (not being scared of her) mikey also starts to develop #the nice uncle and niece relationship they had years ago when casey marie found him.#its all coming together in the end #im so happy for them #just realized that i continue calling the kids kids even when they are told to be adults #this is just like when a parent keeps calling their kid kid even if both parties are very old #peepaw and babies au #ask

not me popping back on here with a post after months of semi-inactivity (uni is being a bitch) just to reiterate how much i love writing the pahkitew island cast.

aside from sammy and amy (obviously), literally everyone else can be shipped with one another and it'd make sense to some degree, like it takes skill to create a group of people so inherently shippable (platonically and/or romantically) and ofc the writers didn't know it they just shoved a bunch of random ppl together and dusted their hands off on it but fr tho 😭

(yeah im planning out my leonave 'stranger things inspired' au, and the gears are turning, and i forgot just how much i love writing for this dumbass group)

(i swear im working on the next chapter of a guide to surviving the apocalypse too)

#no but i've way too many ideas lmaoo #i forgot ive a whole longass post in my drafts dedicated to ramblings abt this longfic and i came across it today ahaha #like amy leading a manhunt for leonard bc shes got everyone to think he killed her sister (who she didn't even like much smh)#and topher's one of the ppl involved and when shawn hears he's like “topher? yeah i can handle him dw” (possible tophawn minor pairing??)#and leonard's abt to get the equivalent of being burnt at the stake literally #when guess who shows up in a fucking mercedes of all cars #fucking dave #and he helps leonard escape narrowly by driving fast af and leonard's so confused bc like “i thought you'd be with those guys”#and get this: dave doesnt believe leonard killed sammy bc of his vehement belief that leonard doesn't know magic LMAOOO #and leonard doesnt know whether to be affronted or grudgingly thankful bc if it wasn't for dave's desire for everything to be normal #leonard would have been part of the witch trials 2.0 #and idk who's watched st but the plot is somewhat inspired by it #like shawn goes missing first and dave as his best friend is panicking abt it (in this one axel is shawns cousin???)#and then when they find him at last the weird deaths start leading to leonard finding sammy dead and this whole situation #and theres a whole different world underneath them and its up to leonard dave ella and sky to team up and prevent certain destruction #and theres slowburn leonave (with pining leonard and oblivious dave)#and leonard lives with his uncle whos understanding of his passions (unlike his dad who basically gave him away for the same reason)#and leonard's life is total opppsite from dave's #and they both know it #and omgggg this au has been a brainrot for so goddamn long #but idk why i just got a slew of ideas for it today #and like dave stays over at leonards at one point and leonard gives him his bed (like a gentleman)#and the next morning shawn barges in like “wheres my best friend” bc ever since he was taken he's been v paranoid abt losing the ppl he lov #and he hugs dave and daves like “how dirty are you rn” and shawns like “nothing yet i waited so that i can hug you when i see your dumb ass #and everyones like abt dave to leonard “idk if he's the right one for you”#but then later on dave saves his life by going a little bit unhinged classic dave-style #and ends up scaring a nurse and receptionist into retiring early #total drama #td leonard #td dave

“You can stay.” The words were so soft, hardly louder than an exhaled breath, that Lucien wasn't sure she had even spoken. But she had. “What?” He asked, hardly daring to breathe. “You can stay.” Elain repeated, watching him from the doorway, hands wrapped around its frame, as though to steady herself. “Of course, its up to Feyre and Rhys.” she added with a faint blush. “But… you needn't leave on my behalf.” Lucien swallowed, hand still on the doorknob, the small backpack he had first arrived with slung over one shoulder. “Are you… are you sure?” he asked finally, hardly daring to believe it. “I- i wouldn't want to impose. To- to make you uncomfortable. I never mean to make you uncomfortable.” Elain offered him a small, tentative smile. “I know.” she said quietly. “I was planning to go out shopping. For some new clothes. Next Friday. I could use an escort.” A shy smile. “If you chose to stay, that is.” She dipped her head to him once, then turned, and disappeared up the stairs. Lucien stayed standing, one hand on the door, staring after her. He wasn't even sure if he was still breathing.

#its so naturalistic #their little laughs...the mutual understanding of like. this is awkward and silly but thats ok and i am so so so in love with u #minoru says the whole thing was so unromantic and on the one hand hes right and thats what makes it wonderful #but on the other hand everything about the scene and the leadup to it was the PEAK of romance to me #like ive never seen more perfect romance tropes done more perfectly....#the pep talk leading to an epic change of heart....#the 'get your man' running sequence where each of the lovers starts running to find the other and they meet in the middle #the conversation where one thinks theyve already been rejected and that they know thats what the other is going to say #until the other says no!! listen!! you DONT know what i feel!!#and im not good at expressing my feelings but im going to try!!!#the hug first. always gotta be a hug first #and how it ended withe ringing in of the new year and the 'tastes like meat bun' and theyre still holding hands and everything....#oh it was all so perfect my romantic little heart cant handle it #our dining table
