everyone who had told you that oscar piastri wasnât much of a talker was a bold-faced liar.
that, or maybe they just never got to see that side of him.
before you started dating oscar, you totally believed it. the first few interactions the two of you had were awkward and brief, usually ending in you thinking that he actually hated you and only engaged in small talk to be nice.
the oscar you know now is nothing like the oscar you first met, and even though youâve been with him for the better part of two years, his ability to talk for hours is still as shocking to you as it was in the beginning.
it started out innocently enough. the first time you hadnât been able to attend a race, oscar called you the moment he was back in his hotel room. youâd only been dating for five months at that point, and you vividly remember your shock when you accepted the facetime call and he started talking at a mile a minute. youâd barely gotten out a âhelloâ before he started recapping his entire day in precise detail. he didnât even stop to take a drink of water in his enthusiasm.
that turned into the two of you developing a routine. every time you couldnât make it to a race, oscar would call you at the end of the day and tell you everything heâd been dying to tell you.
âyou could text me some of this stuff, you know,â you told him once, and he had wrinkled his nose cutely.
âwhy would i text it to you when i can just tell you about it on the phone?â heâd responded, like your suggestion was completely outlandish.
itâs endearing, really, the way heâs always so excited every time you pick up the phone. like he is right now.
âhi, honey!â he says brightly the moment the call connects and you can see each otherâs faces.
âhey, oz,â you smile, your mood immediately lifting at the sound of his voice. âhow was your day?â
âoh, i have so much to tell you,â he leans forward, his hair obscuring the camera for a moment before he leans back with a piece of paper in his hand.
âwhat is that?â you ask, watching as he unfolds it.
âthis, my love, is my list.â he says, turning it around so you can see the way the page is full of his writing, not only on the lines but in the margins, too. âif i can read my own handwriting.â
âbusy day?â you pull the hood of your sweatshirt further over your head so it covers more of your screen.
âyou have no idea. i donât even know where to start.â he sighs, eyes scanning the paper before he looks back up at the camera. âbut i want to hear about your day first.â
âah, it was okay. boring. i got so used to traveling around with you that i donât know what to do now that iâm home all by myself.â itâs a lie, of course.
you wouldnât miss oscarâs birthday for the world, and that was why youâd been so believable when you told him that you were so sorry, but you couldnât make it to japan for the next race. even thinking about not being with him for his birthday was enough to upset you, so he bought it easily. conspiring with mark and lando, youâd gotten your hands on a plane ticket and formed a plan to get to the hotel with oscar being none the wiser.
which is how youâre here, at the end of the hallway on his hotel floor, waiting for the perfect time to interject.
âoh, i have to tell you about how free practice went, the second session, not the first,â heâs saying, squinting a little at the paper. âi wrote it over something else and i canât see what it says. whatever. anyway, itâs raining here, and, like, half the cars didnât end up going out for the second session. i was just trying to do my best for the session but i ended up setting the fastest lap! i didnât even know until i got out of the car. did you watch? i donât know if you did, i forgot to ask you, but i think it was a 1:34 or something like that. i couldâve been faster, obviously, but it was raining. its still raining right now actually which kind of sucks. i wouldnât mind if you were here, but itâs just miserable and cold.â he pauses to take a breath. âwait, where are you?â
well that you werenât expecting. âat home⊠where else would i be?â you reply, hoping that your confusion looks genuine.
âyour background looks⊠i dunno.â he presses his lips together. âdoesnât look the same.â
âwell, iâm at home,â you repeat, trying to come up with something on the fly. âpretending that iâm talking to you face to face instead of through the phone, like always.â
âah, yeah. i do that all the time,â he admits, giving up on his scrutinization of what little he can see behind your hood.
âi miss you,â he says then, and its absolute hell knowing you canât knock on his door just yet.
âi miss you too, oz.â you whisper. âkeep telling me about your day?â
âsure, honey.â he gives you a soft smile, once again consulting his piece of paper. âso after the second session, i went and got dinnerâ oh wait, i forgot to tell you what happened earlier! i left the hotel roomââ
you were hoping to let him tire himself out a bit from talking so much before approaching the door, but with every little detail of his day he shares you wish more and more that he was saying it directly to you and not through the phone, so you give up on being patient and knock three times.
âhold on, baby. someoneâs at the door.â he says on the other end of the call, getting up from where heâs sitting on the bed and leaving his phone behind, so you end the call to free both of your hands.
the look on his face when he opens the door is priceless. âyouâre joking.â
âi figured you should tell me the rest in person,â you say. âbesides, iâd be damned if i missed your birthday.â
âyouâre joking,â he repeats, pulling you and your suitcase into the room and wrapping you into a tight hug. âyouâre actually here.â
âof course iâm here.â you laugh, kissing his shoulder through the loose material of his worn out t-shirt. âi donât want to be anywhere else but here.â
âiâm so happy,â is all your enthusiastic, talkative boyfriend says before kissing you, smiling against your lips the whole time.
âyou hung up on me?â its the first thing he says once the two of you are cuddled up in bed, and your jaw drops.
âseriously? iâm right here, and youâre gonna come for me for hanging up on you?â
âi would never hang up on you, but whatever,â he rolls his eyes, but cuddles you closer all the same. âokay, you have to know what lando told me last night about this one thing he did over winter break. it doesnât sound bad at first, but i promise you it gets so much worse.â
you sigh in content, happier than anything to be in oscarâs arms and listening to him talk your ear off for the foreseeable future. you would never lie about itâ you donât want to be anywhere else but here, with him.
note: happy oscar dayyy!! wishing my fellow aries the best birthday ever and i hope you all enjoyed this đ«¶đŒ i low key hate it but hopefully thatâs just me lolz

bleeding for the vampire
pairing: vampire!sofia falcone gigante x fem!reader
warnings: eventual smut (near middle to end), spoilers to episode 5, spoilers to episode 4 (backstory and how you first met Sofia), insecurity, mentions of misogyny & patriarchy, mentions of death, mentions of Arkham, slight homophobia, slight possessive themes, biting, blood drinking, fingering, clit rubbing, fluff w/ Sofia near the end (aftercare), use of pet names (bellissima and amore)
Summary: After the events of Johnny's death to Sofia's rise with her new empire, Sofia finally has her time with you.
Word count: 1.8k+
After a long day of Sofia's business, she finally has time to make up for youâ her most precious love. Sofia had a new family, a new empire, she was no Falcone anymore, but a Gigante. Taking up her mother's maiden name, following her legacy that the Falcones never wanted to see.
You've met Sofia back when she and her father were still doing the Isabella Falcone Foundation, attending a few of the charity events. That was the sweet Sofia you knew, ten years before she lived in living hell due to her father. Sofia was the most beautiful woman you've seen. Her brown doe eyes were your favorite, maybe the second most favorite after she showed her fangs that she was insecure about. Sofia trusts you so much to the point she felt obsessed about you.
"I inherited this trait from my mother, I hate it how I look with them, but Alberto says it's what makes me unique." Sofia opened her mouth to point to her fangs. âPerhaps I even inherited all the vampire bullshit the movies show, the healing saliva and turning people into vampires.â
"It's not a bad trait in my opinion, it justâ It makes me like you more. I agree with what Alberto said, it makes you look unique, and that's not a bad thing at all." You spoke in slight astonishment as you moved in closer to admire her canines. Sofia then closed her mouth after giving you a few seconds to see them. âWho knows? One day maybe youâll find out if theyâre true.â
Fortunately, Carmine liked you enough to the point he welcomed you to the rest of the Falcones. Although, the first time when Sofia introduced you to him, he was skeptical, like any other parent. Not because if you were going to treat her right, itâs because you were a woman. Carmine did try to talk sense to Sofia about it, but Sofia still loved you no matter what. Women should be able to love other women without being judged. That was something she told her father, but of course Carmine eventually did give the go for you to continue loving his daughter. The one other person you really talked to in the family was Alberto, Sofiaâs brother. Overall, you did notice how the family treats its women within the family. Say for example, it's obvious that there's misogyny and it's shown by actionâ yet nobody dared to speak up about that.
During that time, you saw on the news about some victims who allegedly were hanged, it was a pretty popular topic around Gotham. Nobody knew who the killer was, until that one night in the Falcone mansion, that was the location that ticked the bomb off. That night was when Carmine was celebrating his birthday with a ton of guests in the building, including you. At thay time, you were talking with Sofia and her cousin, Carla, spilling the tea about how Lucas has a new wife.
Then a few minutes later, you overheard Oz talking to Sofia about how her father wanted to talk. Sofia excused herself from you and Carla as she made her way to Carmine's office, that was probably one of the last times you would see Sofia. Because after that talk, Sofia dragged you out of the place to take you and herself to Oz so he could drive you two home. Why did she do that? You weren't sure at the time, but there were pieces of the puzzle missing to form the bigger image.
The one moment you remembered the most was when Oz had to pull over due to the GCPD. The officers forced Sofia out and arrested her for the 7 murders of the hanged victims. Your heart stopped. Sofia wouldnât do anything like that, never. Everything happened so quick, you tried to rush to Sofia, but the officers pulled you back. All the screams, all the horror, the night you donât wish for again.
Learning the fact that she had to go to Arkham was the most horrifying part. That place was a hell hole, that place can make you go insane and make you be something you never wanted.
Back to the present, you stood at the window in the war room of the mansion, staring out the beautiful night sky. Without any notice of Sofia, you just began to zone out until you felt a pair of arms wrapping around your waist. The familiar scent of Sofiaâ smoke and the perfume she usually wore wafts your nostrils. Her nose pressed against your neck as she took in the smell of you.
"I'm so tired of men trying to take control, especially in the family. Having this new empire, a new mantle, is something that I would have done sooner rather than later." Sofia cuts the silence with her smooth and precise voice.
When she said that, you thought of the moment when Johnny got shot by her. He may have been "useful," but he contributed to the shit Carmine did. Johnny wasn't worth it. The men that sat around the table hogged all the cash Sofia offered, even with Johnny's blood in the way. Sofia needed a new family, and she got it.
Sofia nibbles the skin on your neck to stop you from daydreaming. As you bring yourself back to reality, Sofia begins to pepper you with her desperate kisses. Her fangs scratched the surface of your skin, creating soft red streaksâ that's when you know Sofia is hungry.
Her left hand grips the side of your neck as she forces you to tilt your head, giving her access to your most vulnerable part of the body.
"Need you so bad, can't a girl get a reward for becoming the new boss of the family?" Sofia whispered down your neck as she stared at your flesh.
"Sof, you know you'll always get a reward, no?" You spoke to hopefully encourage Sofia to bite your neck. After all, you want her to be satisfied after a long day. When she found sense of your words, she nuzzled into your neck once againâ right before she went straight to biting your neck. Sinking her sharp canines deep, making sure you bleed for her. Your blood flows into her mouth as she saviors the metallic taste. Pressing harder, your heart rate hikes up slightly when Sofia wanted to draw more blood.
âRelax, bellissima, I always make sure I donât go to the point where I could kill you.â Sofia withdraws from your neck as she lets a small amount of your blood gush out. "Besides, even if you do die, at least I would have you all to myself."
She dived back down to lap up the liquid, moaning at the fact that she was the only person who was aloud to drink your blood. In the midst of thinking, Sofia slurps up the remaining pools of blood before sinking her fangs back into the wound she made.
You let out a small groan when you felt the same sting from the first bite. Sofia was absolutely mesmerized with drinking your blood, trying to quench her empty stomach. To make you feel better, Sofia hikes up your skirt and slides her cold right hand up your inner thigh. The coldness makes you shiver, but it makes you anticipate for her. While her hand found your panties, she could care less and ripped the pair offâ tossing them to the ground. You could feel Sofiaâs fingers tease your pussy as she toys with.
âWhat a pretty pussy, Iâm glad that itâs mine. Already so wet, all because of me.â Sofia murmured as she took her time with you. She inserts two fingers into your tight cunt, thrusting with a fast pace. Knowing her, Sofia loved fucking you senseless. Sofia removed her left hand from the side of your neck, which she helped support when she drank your blood.
She slid her left hand down to rub your clit, to add extra pleasure, and to make you cum faster for her. You let out moans and whines as she continued her assault on you. Sofia pressed herself to your back more, continuing to work her magic by fucking your needy cunt and rubbing your overstimulated bud with her other hand.
As you felt the increasing need to cum, Sofia added an extra finger in your pussy, but she never stopped her pace. Therefore, you dug your nails into her hand that rubbed your clit. Creating small but beautiful crescent moon dents as a mark. This spurred on Sofia as she sucked on your wound, and to hear your heart race when you're just this close.
"Come on, amore, I know that you would be willing to cum for me. Not like you can't resist anyways." Sofia kept egging you on until you eventually give in and give what you both want.
Then, you did give in. Your walls clenched around her fingers as Sofia continued to slowly pump her fingers to help you through your orgasm. Now you were a panting mess, but at least you both were satisfied. Sofia moved her head back as her fangs were no longer in your neck. The puncture wound lightly bled still, but she kept licking and kissing it until it stopped the bleeding for the moment. Following after that action, Sofia removed her fingers from your cunt to bring them to her lips. Giving them a good clean and most importantlyâ to relish the taste of you. It was quite a meal for her, your cum and your blood mixed together was surely a good combo.
"You did so good for me. Let me carry you to my room so you can rest." Sofia spoke softly as she spun you around so you can meet her gaze. She lowered down to grab your legs and used her other arm to support your back. Lifting you up into her arms and then carrying you in a bridal style. Sofia loves to spoil you after sex whenever she's in a good mood.
Sofia walked into her room as she dropped you onto the bed and then removed her mother's fur coat to place it on you. The coat was a symbol of power to Sofia, since it once belonged to her mother. She then sat on the bed next to you, bringing her lips to your temple to kiss it.
"I'll be back, I just have to find Sal and then end this family war for our sake. When I return, I'll treat you with a warm bath." Sofia nuzzled against your temple before pulling away from you to eye at your healing wound on your neck. Turning away from you to change her outfit and walking away to do her business. You know that both Sofia and Sal want to kill Oz, after everything he did to Sal's family and betraying Sofia repeatedly.

đBlessings to Expect throughout 2024 âŠïž Timeless Pick A Card
âYouâre always here. What are you doing?â
âNothingâŠnothing in particular.â
âYouâre Saibaraâs grandson, right? Arenât you working at the Blacksmith shop?â
âIâm not interested in that. I want to go back to the city.â
âOh⊠I came from the city, too. My dad moved the family to this village because he was going to study plants. I felt lonely at first. But the people here are all very kind.â
âI donât feel lonely. But I canât find what I want to do in this village.â
âWhat is it you want that you canât find here?â
âWell, itâsâŠoh, nothingâŠâ
âMy mother always says that if you canât find what you want to do, then do what you can see to do now. Nobody finds what they want immediately. But if you waste your time every day because of that, youâll never find anything... To tell you the truth, I havenât found what Iâm looking for yet, either. See you.â

Pile 1 â Welcoming Love, True Love
VIBE: Ready for Your Love (feat. MNEK) by Gorgon City
end of a struggle â King of Swords
Youâve been incredibly and marvellously responsible forâŠquite a number of years, I think? For some of you maybe a couple of months or so. But your struggles have ended; nearing ending; or you just havenât realised yet how everything has changed for the better now. If you take a moment to really notice yourself, Iâm sure you can tell just how much clearer youâve become about many things pertaining to your surrounding and sense of Self. I feel youâve worked really hard to overcome excessive trauma noises that have caused you a great deal of psychological pain.
Starting this year, you can feel more confident in your intellectual capacity to gauge situations right in front of you. Making choices will be a lot easier now because youâre clear about who you are as a person and what it is you truly want out of your own existence. Youâve clearly set enough boundaries with those who didnât have your best interest. Seems to me youâve learnt the hard way to be more selfish in the spirit of self-preservation. And so, the adventure of a lifetime begins right this moment.
In fact, I feel like your entire Life up until this point has been quite the adventureâonly it has been filled with sorrow and misery, sorta. Surely it was your Heroâs Journey taking shape for the early chapters of your Lifeâs Story. A slow burn of a lifetime, if you will. Beginning this year, youâre entering the most exciting part of your rise to glory and everlasting happiness!
in your favour â 8 of Pentacles
Youâve been hustling behind the scenes for the most part. At least, those who arenât close to you will never know just how much work youâve put into bettering your world from the inside out. You worked so much on your mindset; you mustâve exercised a lot, too; tried to eat more cleanly and healthily; worked on your glow-up; brushed your skills; etc. You were investing in yourself for the future vision youâve always held close to your heart. And for that reason, the seeds are now blooming.
Youâre making me think of the bamboo plant. Did you know that a bamboo seedling takes around 5-7, maybe even 8-10, years to gestate underground? All alone in the dark without anyone knowing whatâs going on down there. And when the seedling shoots up to the surface, the bamboo plant is famous for being the fastest growing plant there ever is.
So yeah~ fast or no fast in your mind, the point is that youâve done the work on yourself and all the plans youâve ever had for your Life. This year, 2+0+2+4=8, is the year you reap all the rewards and grow even faster from where you are now. Whatever undertaking you begin this year will gain traction super fast! Pat yourself on the back because when things get super good, you deserve to take a small break and just enjoy how far youâve come~! Breathe~
catching stars â Page of Wands
Your Story is totally far from finished. With the Page aenergyâa kidâs aenergyâyouâre only on the precipice of entering a Life of passion and purpose. You could almost say, itâs a new Story altogether just because this chapter of your Life is SO SO SO super good in comparison to the chapters about your struggles. I guess youâd call this a new arc huehue
Youâre young Hercules now. Pretty soon, there will occur some big event that propels you into a bona fide hero, and then, youâll meet your Megara~ This part of your Story is where you enter a circle of trueâat least truerâfriends and lovers who will motivate you throughout the next chapters of your Life. Sure, sure, struggles donât just end, poof, like that and you will continuously need to learn to sift through these new breeds of friends and acquaintances. But thatâs also part of your next level growing up, so donât sweat the possibilities XD
Throughout 2024, you could be moving to a new environment and then meet new friends. Highkey youâre gonna be meeting Soulmates and Soul Fam members; these are the people who resemble you so much either on the inside or outside. These are people who think like you, care about the same things as you; basically youâre gonna finally feel like you truly belong somewhere on this Planet. Love is in the air because youâve been giving so much Love to yourself before this point. You are Love. You emanate Love wherever you go because you love yourself, and thus you become a magnet for people who also will love you just as good~

Pile 2 â Rising Up to Accept Yourself Wholly
VIBE: She Said from Kamikaze Girls
end of a struggle â Knight of Cups
Youâve kinda just gone through a death of a paradigm of sort. I feel that in the past, you simply didnât really know who you were or what you were meant to be. This confusion of an identity was caused by your parents/caretakers not really appreciating you for who you were as a child or it could also be caused by your environment, race, culture, custom, tradition, stuff like that. It wasnât your fault, you know. You literally grew up on your own and finally got clear about your own identityâyou stopped caring if your real identity is too weird, too eccentric for this world.
Basically, you got tired of rejecting yourself. And you realised that you were doing that because you knew others wouldnât accept you. Then you realised people are shitty and lame for the most part anyway, so you learnt to be OK with embracing all of your weird heartâs little desires. And you nurtured yourself and nurtured yourself until you rose above the lameness of most of Humanity. Did you know? You did the right thing, really. Through and through.
Youâre definitely an Advanced Soul. I think even when you were a kid you always felt like there was some spirit/shadow parental figure walking behind you, guiding your thought processes. This older/bigger unseen figure was really just your own Higher Self, you know :D More than others would give you credit for, youâve been such a good gal/boi for always listening to the guidance of your Higher Self~
in your favour â 3 of Pentacles
Beginning this year, youâre going to finally meet people who are similar to you. Similar as in, youâre going to meet a lot of colourful characters, really. People who also feel somewhat like societyâs outcast. These people are going to come from various backgrounds and they will each have very interesting back stories and life experiences that will entertain you for a long time. These people could also have very strange, unusual hobbies that will spark your interest in new, alien pursuits.
With that said, this year could be the year you begin a new passion project of your own, with these people, new friends, you share a vision with. They do care about you and want to succeed together, so you can trust that these connections are going to bear sweet feelings for you. Most importantly, this year youâre going to know the sweet feeling of doing something meaningful with your natural talents born out of your innate interests. When you finally get the money, you will first and foremost taste gratitude from those who seem to love and enjoy what you do or have to offer~
Life really is getting better now because youâve mustered the courage to explore your possibilities in all your eccentricity. Your Higher Self never meant for you to fit in anyway. You were always meant to be some sort of a genius trailblazerâa source of inspiration for the other lameass Humans who are too afraid to be themselves.
catching stars â 10 of Pentacles
What more can be said? On top of embracing yourself fully, loving yourself wholeheartedly, and meeting kindred spirits, youâre also going to gain a massive amount of money! Lifeâs always good when you have a lot of money! More money means a happier heart and more to share as well. But in your case, if youâve chosen this Pile as your main pile, know that before a lot of money even trickles into your reality, it is the sense that youâre serving your Life Purpose what will make you feel rich.
After all, there could people reading this who came from a wealthy background and you may think you donât crave or even care about money. Exactly. You never cared about a lack of money but didnât you struggle with grounding yourself to this Reality because you didnât know what you were put on Earth to do? This â10 of Pentacles sense of abundanceâ encompasses a sense of material abundance that feels deserving; you can now feel worthy of getting paid for some passionate, incredible, show-stopping contribution youâve made to society. Isnât that such a wonderful feeling?
Some of you reading this could mend some broken bonds with family; some others could finally find a tribeâa Soul Familyâand feel that you belong; some could start a family of your own with someone worthy of your high-grade affection. Congratulations~! Youâve really made it this far~ Things can only get better and better from hereâ„ïž

end of a struggle â King of Pentacles
If youâve chosen this as your main pile, I just know it that youâve been working so hard on yourself, on a level thatâs practically incomprehensible for most people. Iâm sure youâve survived so many deaths of the spiritâand perhaps even some of the more dramatic attempts. And youâve come on top of your misery now. Youâve gotten healthier and clearer about where youâre going next. I sense sometimes you still doubt yourself but it isnât a sin to doubt, itâs just a sign that you want to do well. And on so many levels, sometimes youâre afraid because you genuinely want this dream/vision to happen to you.
I assure you with this reading that youâre on the fast track towards a rendezvous with Destiny. FastâŠis honestly relative to each Soulâs blueprint tho XD Time is on your side and whatâs meant for you canât miss you. So chillax, OK? One thing to know about this great dream/vision of yours is that youâre going to see it manifest because youâre different from the rest. Different in that you want to see it manifest to be of service to the rest! When you really think about itâŠ
Donât you just know from deep within your Soul that youâre deserving of this great destiny? Itâs because youâre going to serve a massive purpose with it! So many people would benefit from your realising this dream. And thatâs the very thing! Youâve been holding on to this vision, and you want it, because youâre MEANT for it.
in your favour â 4 of Cups
Iâll be referencing the 1971 ver. of Willy Wonka here. And honestly, I think you should watch it by the weekend or something because that movieâs whole vibe will feel tremendously validating to you, I sense hahah
Have you heard of the theories that say Charlie was literally singled out by Willy Wonka from the very beginning? That he had chosen all of those horrible brats because he wanted to punish, oops, teach them a lesson, and that principally he had been watching Charlie and wanted HIM to inherit the Chocolate Factory. If you watch the 1971 film youâll literally get it! And with this 4 of Cups, know that thatâs how the Universe feels about you stepping into your destiny. Willy Wonka, or God idk, doesnât want anybody else but YOU to fulfil this role~!
Youâve literally been chosen and singled out by the Universe to win the grand prize! Just so you know, as Iâm typing these words I literally have the Willy Wonka movie playing on another window and as I typed âgrand prizeâ, the person in the movie is saying it right at the same time at around the 19:11 minute mark. Things canât get any more synchronous than that!đ€Ż
This year, youâll really see how every single thing is going to work out in your favour. And knowing the inner work youâve done on yourself, Iâm sure youâre spiritually mature enough to sense, to notice every small nudge that tells you what you need to do at a given timeđNew adventures are just around the corner, baby~!
catching stars â 5 of Pentacles
So you see, how is 5 of Pentacles appearing for a segment about you catching stars? This is, in fact, reaffirming that your dream come true will also serve as a salve for those who are wounded and hurting. You really are a medicine for this sick world. This year, youâre going to see serendipitous events and meetings what will open the door towards the physical manifestation of your dream Reality. Once you step on to the pedestal of Destiny, thereâs no stopping you. Youâll be moving so fast it drives you mad!
This card is also saying you must be careful of possible leeches coming towards you; itâs best to use caution and discernment when revealing to others your plans and goals. Be stingy with information as per your gut instinctâs nudges, OK? Be mature enough to know not everybody will be happy at the prospect of your massive success that could potentially change Mankind. People get envious of such ideas, alright? Be careful not to hit the already low self-esteem of some people around you LMAO
I also feel that this year you will begin new routines that benefit your health and physical strength. If this is something youâve been working on, you will see this year that the implementation of these routines feels more natural and effortless. Youâve managed to master your thoughts, emotions, and time managementâor soon to do. Money will also come more abundantly, so all your basic needs are easily met. Youâve become a magnet for good luckâor soon to notice youâve done so!đ

The Penguin: Episode 1 Breakdown
(Episode 2) (Episode 3) (Episode 4) (Episode 5) (Episode 6) (Episode 7) (Episode 8)
Thank you Lauren LeFranc, Mike Marino, Colin Farrell and Matt Reeves, we owe you the world for this, good God. It's finally here everyone and I've decided I'm gonna give each episode it's own post/breakdown of thoughts, because hahaha holy shit you guys this is beyond what I even dreamed of, and we're gonna be covering this for a while I think. I've worked out enough madness about this out of my system by talking with friends and I can't seem to be able to work on anything else till I get this done, so let's do it.
Bottom line: This isn't even just a must-watch if you like the Penguin or if you like The Batman, this is something I'd recommend to just about anyone in a heartbeat, something I can point to when people ask "why do you like The Penguin so much" and, instead of the elaborate nerd ramble that usually turns them off, I can just tell them to watch this. A friend of mine (who already loves Batman and digs the Penguin quite a bit) even told me as much, that he's starting to get why I love the character so much, and truly, is there a better feeling than this? Well, there is, and it's watching the show. Let's dig into this first episode:
Right upfront I'm gonna say that this doesn't really seem to be the Sopranos rip-off that people have been calling it before release, although there are definitely Sopranos comparisons to make here. I've spent the past months finally watching The Sopranos in order to get the comparison and definitely want to talk about those comparisons after I finish it (and this show ends). This thing aims to stand on it's own legs as a crime show and it's smashing out of the gate with an extremely promising first episode.
So this just casually opens with the reveal that all along, there was a second rich Gotham the whole time that was completely unaffected by everything we saw in the movie, already throwing a great twist on the events of that movie, and further reinforcing how fucking full of shit The Riddler was. All we saw Batman and the others deal with in the movie was just affecting the poorer parts of the city. All Eddie did was drown rats, and make life worse for the people already in the bottom, while never even getting close to targeting the systemic rot that ruined his life. He retains ideological worshippers in subways obsessed with the corruption of the city without doing anything to actually improve it, and because of him, the streets of Gotham are waterlogged shitholes while the rich Falcone suburbs are doing just fine, peachy even.
I said a while back that, in spite of having about 6 scenes/10 minutes of Penguin runtime, The Batman managed to squeeze impeccably controlled Penguin Trademark Scenes, and this show opens with the last one they didn't get to then: Penguin killing someone for making fun of him. In the movie, he tries doing that with Falcone and is beaten to the punch, so here he gets to actually do it to disastrous consequences.
Fucking adore that the inciting incident of the show is based on the fallout of Oswald killing someone for making fun of him. He pours his heart about the dream he lives his life for, his new boss makes fun of him for being an embarassment to their profession and then he does the most typical Penguin thing by killing him for it and laughing afterwards. And then he realizes how badly he fucked up, and then we get a fucking perfect titledrop with his musical theme, the exact moment we finish The Batman and enter The Penguin.
God it is so fucking cool how the make-up/lighting, the scar across his face, makes it look like he's got a genuine beak from certain angles, how they're able to achieve that effect without giving him a more literal beak for a nose. Everytime they talk about the character, Reeves and Farrell always emphasize how integral the make-up was to them figuring out what to do with Oz, how little they knew what to make of his six scenes until Marino created their monster and suddenly everything fell into place. Mike Marino fully deserves co-credit for the creation of Oz.
Pretty amusing that Victor, as designed to be Penguin's Robin, has exactly the same origin as Jason Todd, a poor street kid trying to steal the hubcaps off the Penguinmobile (I'm sure this bodes very well for his odds at survival), as is the way in which Oz goes on about his recruitment. He press-gangs this kid at gunpoint to help him bury a body arguing with himself and eventually the kid why shouldn't he just kill him to be safe, while trying to impress the kid with his car and air freshener and later that bullshit about "What, you think I hire any schmuck off the street?". From the tile drop onwards, he's doing everything on the fly while also spinning long-term plans set in motion as soon as he's on screen, he's taking this kid in out of sympathy and because he enjoys a power dynamic over someone weaker than him and because he very much needs someone to help him get stuff done. I'm extremely interested in exploring Penguin having a mentorship dynamic and I'm beyond curious as to what happens with Victor from this point onwards, but that poor kid is in for a terrible fucking time.
Found it very funny how much he half-asses the murder threat to Victor. Like it's his first time actually doing it and he's trying to be serious, but not too scary because he's already seeing himself in the poor kid with a stutter and wants the kid to think he's also a cool guy like he wants everyone to think he's a cool guy. I also think having Victor as the POV helps to sell moments like these, because it's still terrifying to him. Even as we follow their stories, these power players of Gotham are still big scary monsters to people caught in the dregs and Victor helps to reinforce that.
I enjoy Oz being friends with sex workers and drag queens off the street as much as I enjoy Oz being depicted as the kind of guy who deludes himself into thinking the prostitute he's with actually likes him, Lauren and Farrell launched into a bit about in on the podcast and I'm curious to see what's going on with him and Eve here.
Lots of perfect funny little character moments across the whole thing. Oz insulted by the idea of taking extra pickles off a poor kid's dirty mouth, but with zero hesitation whatsoever for picking jewelry off his boss' corpse. Dude is governed by principles even as he actively has to break them to survive.
"Technically it's plum." "He is the - or was the - new kingpin", "He's got nurse-like qualities." The show is not overtly trying to get you to find Penguin likeable as much as it wants you to find him engaging - making you think he's likeable is Colin Farrell's job and he's masterful at it, definitely a lot more matured within the character compared to the movie.
If there's anything in particular I'm thankful for regarding Gotham (well okay Gotham led directly to Telltale Penguin which was the basis for this one, so really I do have a lot more to be thankful with Gotham), it's the decision to give him a legit waddle via the broken foot, but the way they incorporate it here with the club foot does so much for him, so much as a modern day reinvention of The Penguin. Adds so much to why he's never been a serious candidate for mob leadership, why he kinda had to spend all his time in the Lounge, why he actually needs someone to help him run affairs, why he has such a gaping ego wound and is so murderously angry at people making fun of him / calling him a goddamn penguin, adds so much validation and so much darkness and nuance to Oswald's overwhelming anger and bitterness over how the world treats him (and so much power should he opt to reclaim it, in turn). It's the kind of thing that frankly feels like it should have always been part of the character, like what all the previous versions were itching closer to or trying to get at. Of course this is a guy gets called a penguin and he hates it badly enough to murder people over it, of course.
This gets to really highlight how differently Oz acts depending on who he's with. Traditionally, one of my favorite things about The Penguin, and one of the things that puts him above the other villains, is that, due to his position, he has to interact with a lot more people than the other Bat-villains. He has to manage a lot more relationships and dynamics, he has to play peacekeeper and puppetmaster. he's the only one in the United Underworld who's regularly interacting with and recruiting other villains to do business with. He's the guy who you pin stuff on like the Gangland Guardians, Team Penguin, doing betting pools with the Rogues taking cover in his Lounge while Joker War is happening, having to rig games to keep good standing with Maxie Zeus and Frenchy Blake in Batman Audio Adventures, and so on. So I greatly enjoy this beat here of him talking about how makes himself smaller before the Falcones, and that moment of him adjusting his outfit and practicing expressions in the mirror before meeting with them. How he contorts himself is present in all of his relationships, and retroactively adds to the way he carries himself in The Batman.
It seems that Oz is functionally regarded as the Paulie Walnuts of the Falcones: useful muscle, loyal for the most part and amusing to keep around, but largely an unstable self-serving dumb asskisser kept where he belongs, a liability if not kept on a short leash. I think the show does a good job of highlighting all the reasons why Oz has never been seriously regarded as a viable option for a boss, even putting aside his disability. He is a fundamentally embarassing person for these serious respectable criminals to be around and of course, the joke is ultimately on them..
Of course, there is only two people in the show who actually know what he's capable of, Francis Cobb and Sofia Falcone, said to be the central relationships defining the show moving forward. Both of them also a defining commonality with Oswald, being people who are looked down on and dehumanized, and characters who are underestimated until it's time to bear their fangs.
Extremely invested in where they're going with Sofia Falcone, Cristine Milioti's been killing it, and will in fact not stop killing it. What a perfect villain for Penguin they've set up with her, someone who has his Kryptonite: she does not underestimate him. Although we know in advance that Oz is going to live and be in the next movie, the question here isn't even so much who's going to win the gang war, and rather how much damage these two freaks will do to the city until Batman gets back. In many ways, Sofia represents the shape of things to come just as much as he does.
She is this embodiment of both the pristine unfathomable wealth and privilege and power that he both detests and strives for, as well as this brutal new breed of madness and violence attacking the streets that he has to survive against and make deals with (and is himself very much a part of, however he denies it). She is Falcone's legacy in every way that matters, both a Kingpin of Gotham whose existence creates the oppressive conditions under which a Batman or a Riddler are created, as well as the Arkham Rogue, the larger-than-life sadist with a tragic origin and a signature torture-murder method and an embarassing name for the papers.
Even the fact that she is The Hangman, and Carmine was defined around his penchant for brutally strangling women - regardless of whether or not she did the crimes that got her in Arkham, she's become this larger-than-life themed expression of a violent obsession in a way that sets her up as every bit the Batman villain that The Penguin is. The two champions of the two Gothams, duking it out in this new world The Batman and The Riddler made, The Penguin vs The Hangman.
I am so glad Lauren LeFranc made the call for binning Alberto in the first five minutes so the rest of the show can focus on Sofia and make a real character out of her in a way nobody's ever really done before, every step of the way so far LeFranc has been perfectly on the ball about where to take these characters and their conflict. And speaking of those,
I feel very confident in saying that this is the first time anyone's ever really had something worth doing with Oswald's mother as a character in her own right and not just a source of anguish for Penguin (Gotham was almost onto something with Gertrude, but not nearly enough). When it comes to Penguin origin stories, my favorite's always been the Pre-Crisis one, where he's poor and bullied but happy with his mom and birds until she dies and the government seizes everything he has, which doesn't necessarily involve her much. But here? Francine Cobb is a real character in what little time we get to know her, and what a character she is. We quickly understand the role she's playing in Oz's life, not just as his mom and person he loves and strives to protect, but the person who's sculpting him into the man he's going to become.
She is vulnerable and she does need meds and she's not quite all there, and Penguin's need to care for her is visible in other actions of his. But then they turn it around by showing how strong and demanding she is, how she is fiercely ambitious and pushing him to be something he would otherwise not be, how much she loves him and sees greatness in him. She knows he's a people pleaser, she knows how to push his buttons, and she wants him to be more, so of course he's going to be more, because he lives to please his mom.
Related to this is this absolute bullseye of a summation of The Penguin, that Lauren LeFranc delivered in the podcast: "Perhaps his greatest fear is that love is transactional. And that yet, everything he does, every decision he makes, is as if that's true. As if "love is transactional" is a truth he abides by". Oswald's conception of power is being loved and revered like Rex Calabrese, and the love he wants most in all the world is the one from his mother. So in turn this, and all extensions of it, drive him to greater and darker lengths.
He doesn't have that ambition quite down yet, it's his mom that does. She who's pushing him to take over the city and not just be a guy scraping by for survival. He's smart and ambitious and extremely good at slipping out of trouble, but she's pushing him to be the guy who will be taking the city by the horns because that's what he has to be for their sake. Her legacy to her son is nurturing him having that dog in him that will make him the supervillain who picks fights with Vengeance. She is the force that's turning Oswald into The Goddamn Penguin and I can't wait to see how she's developed.
Of course he reprimands Victor in that scene for lacking ambition, who do you think he gets it from?
Really love what they've done with Sal Maroni in here so far. I like adaptations that take these throwaway Batman backstory gangsters and make something out of them, in this case, with Clancy Brown lending his power and voice and reputation as The Grand Boss of Villainy to play the last Respectable Gangster of Gotham, this intimidating principled old tiger who's inversely proportional to how much of a petty and scummy piece of shit Carmine Falcone was. Extremely a guy I'd want to see playing a hand in the creation of Two-Face. Just as crucial is the fact that he is the one who gets the most effortlessly outplayed by Oz here, because this is The Penguin Show: no room for traditional or respectable gangsters anymore, their purpose is to be crapped all over by our wacko birdman.
There's a lot about this that re-contextualizes his behavior in The Batman and the one I'm gonna point out is: even though he can't be sure his plan didn't completely go to shit, he is still keeping his wits and not being terribly scared about being beaten up and tortured and staring down the scariest Falcone with a gun shoved in his throat. But he craps his pants at the sight of the Batmobile. He gets pain, he gets indignity, but he doesn't get Vengeance, what kind of sick freak would come up with the stuff that guy does. A gun in his mouth and Falcone torture is just Tuesday, but a car that wants to eat his soul is some psycho shit he's just not ready to deal with.
It is the delicious tasty fucking irony that Oswald thinks Vengeance is this weird freak who doesn't play or bend to any rules and is here to fuck up everything, just like the madman who flooded the city, and thinks of himself in turn as a justifiable guy standing for the respectable old-fashioned empathetic way of doing things, instead of the exact same thing that Riddler and Batman are. Only Sofia gets what he really is, the same thing as her, and that's why she is the arch-enemy / the biggest thing he's gotta defeat in life for now.
God, how fucking PERFECT it is that he gets caught and tortured because he, after stabbing out a man's eye and causing him to get run over by a schoolbus, stops to wave at the kids in that schoolbus while covered in blood. Just the Rex Calabrese of it all, the self-image, this guy who's both a mean nasty son of a bitch and also a real bleeding heart softie and in ways that ruin his life and allow him to slip and wriggle his way out of shit he has no right to, as demonstrated by the finale.
Thinking about Sofia chastizing Oz saying he thinks she is a toy to play with, while rattling off the ways in which she owns him and everything he has, all the ridiculous little accessories her daddy let him play him, and he in turn is a ridiculous little accessory for the family she is twisting until it breaks. Perfect fucking villain for him. Can't wait to see how badly these two are gonna burn Gotham.
I knew deep in my heart that all I wanted out of a Penguin show, the thing that I simply needed to have in it, was Penguin pulling a heist set-up in advance, and it fucking delivered. He doesn't even complain at Victor for being late, because if anything, getting captured and tortured while the car crashed was even better for him. No, he complains at Victor for not being sufficiently gruesome with the body. See, unlike other cowardly anti-hero reinventions of Bat-villains, the show never wants you to forget that Oz is a weird freak and a disgusting piece of shit, even if he is a very likeable and even aspirational one. Only by the most random stroke of fate it wasn't Victor that he fed to the wolves at that moment, that he sees himself in the kid isn't exactly ensuring that he's gonna make out of this in one piece.
Mr. Vengeance gets Nirvana, and Mr. Boniface gets Dolly Parton, perfect credits.
In conclusion: Out of everything they could have done following the thunderous success of The Batman and it's ensuing influence over the DCU, out of all the offers Reeves must have gotten to helm their new universe after delivering a megahit reinvention of their breadwinner blockbuster character, Matt Reeves went "Nah, I listened to my crew, and what we really want to do is 8 hours of television about the waddling freak who's in my movie for 10 minutes", and he and his crew deserve the world for that. I dreamed as a kid of getting to make a big Penguin story or show, a wild impossible idea that would never actually happen, and now it's here and it's better than anything I'd ever imagined.
I'm fit to burst with joy and riding a high of no longer having to hunt for scraps and washing away decades of put-downs for the character and enjoying a Penguin renaissance like one I never imagined happening. I am extremely not an unbiased reviewer here, this show rules and I've waited for it since I was a kid and it's here, drink it the fuck in cause it's only the beginning.

And They Were Roommates! - Part 2
Part 1 Part 3 AO3
Eddie had called out of work the next day. Steve could hear him making his apologies to Mrs. Henderson who'd taken over the running of the shop when her husband passed.
Steve knew she'd probably tell him to stay home for the rest of the week, probably longer if she could get away with it, but Eddie loved every second he spent working there. Adored Dustin. Adored the other kids, Steve's kids, who used the back room for their dice game after closing on Thursday evenings.
Eddie would have to be beaten away from the premises with a bat. A bat with nails.
Steve might just have to give it a try if the idiot refused to rest properly.
He wasn't mothering him.
He was like⊠distant cousining him.
When he heard Eddie retreat back to his room after the call and when a light rumbling of snores came through the wall maybe a half an hour later, Steve finally made his exit from his room.
He hadnât wanted Eddie to think he needed to put on a brave face or act like he was okay if Steve was out in the public spaces while he made the call.Â
Not because he cared.
Just so Eddie wouldnât have to pretend.
And so he himself didnât have to deal with the tension.
Yeah, right.
Also, it was the least he could do to complete Eddie's designated chores off the whiteboard that there had been war over.Â
Robin and Eddieâs friend Chrissy had been forced to come in and mediate the whiteboard before one of them set the other's hair on fire. Though by the end of the day the two best friends had been too busy making eyes at each other to be of any help.
Steve was taking a risk; messing with the delicate whiteboard balance that stayed the same, week in, week out, lest another war start. But if Eddie wasnât up for going to work, he certainly wouldnât be up for sweeping, mopping, countertops and garbage.
And like, Steve could hardly blame him, heâd been through a lot yesterday, heâd been betrayed by the guy heâd cared most about. He was attacked and had his heart broken all in one night.
So it was whatever.
Just a few chores.Â
Whatever.
At least he didnât have to worry about keeping the noise down. Eddie could sleep through the apartment being ripped up by a cyclone then dropped into Oz.
Heâd probably sleep through any and all musical numbers to follow, too.
Though heâd be bummed about missing them.
A few hours had passed by that point and Steve was just about to sit his lovely bottom on the couch to enjoy some good old fashioned thoughtless tv when there was a knock at the door.
He half expected Mrs. Henderson to be on the other side with half a hospital in tow behind her as well as, like, fifteen gallons of her famous chicken noodle soup. Which Steve would not turn down for love nor money and would steal a minimum 50% share.
As was his right.
But it wasnât Claudia.
It was some guy.Â
Some guy who had a bandage over his nose, a harsh purple colour blooming underneath, sitting a little off as though broken. Some guy who had cuts and scratch marks all over his face and neck.
Some guy who seemed to be affronted at the very sight of him.
But as he stood there Steve could see the clogged up gears working in his brain before the guy opened his mouth and said "You're Steve, the roommate."
Steve pursed his lips.Â
Well, this interaction was off to a great start.Â
Though if this was who Steve thought he was, he couldnât give less of a fuck.
"I'm Steve. Eddie's the roommate.â He said with a raised eyebrow. âWhat was with the look?"
The guy blinked at him. "What look?"
"The look you gave me, when I opened the door. Like I'd shit on your shoe." He answered with a cocked eyebrow and a cocked hip.
"Oh, uh⊠I just thought Eddie had shacked up with someone already.â The guy laughed. âBit soon.â He shrugged and smiled at Steve as though looking for some kind of commiseration for a good joke, two men giving each other nudges about how silly their wives were or whatever other shit straight people did.
But Steve had no commiseration to give.
So this was definitely the shithead, then. Rick.
Steve leaned against the doorframe, practically acting like a barricade, blocking off access to the apartment with his arms crossed. "Donât like the idea of him having someone at home?â He asked in a light tone. âBit hypocritical if you ask me.â
Rickâs face immediately soured. "That wasn't his business to tell."
âI think you lose the privilege to that kind of privacy when you fuck around on people youâre supposed to love.â Steve shrugged. âOr just people in general.â
âWho the hell are you to judge me?â Rick puffed his chest out. âYou donât know me.â
âAnd thank god for that. I donât need to know you. I know youâre a cheater, thatâs enough.â
Rick scoffed. âWhatever, man. Iâm not here to debate morality or some shit with you. Iâm here to see Eddie.â
âNo.â Steve answered as simply as he could.Â
The guy seemed to need things to be concise.
Rick looked bewildered. âEx- excuse me?â
âYou got cotton in your ears or something? I said no.â
âWho the fuck do you think you are? His keeper? You know he hates you right?â
Steve pulled his mouth down into a mocking pout. âOh no.â He sighed, deadpan. âIâm so heartbroken.â
âListen, Iâm not getting into it with you right now, man. So call Eddie out or move.â
âOr what?â Steve leaned forward a little, feeling his blood light on fire.Â
There would be nothing more heâd love at this moment than Rick trying to square up to fight.Â
The guy was a little taller than him, but Steve was much broader, much stronger and though it wasnât something he liked to do, he knew he could throw a decent punch if it was for someone else.
That much was obvious.Â
Thinking back on the things Eddie had said last night, the things Rick had tried, the way heâd cried into Steveâs shoulder, Steve would break Rickâs nose all over again if given half a chance.
âSteve.â
Eddie appeared next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder and pulling him away from the door.
Rick looked between the two of them before his eyes landed back on Steve, snapping at him âYou can fuck off now.â
Steve raised his eyebrows as if to say âoh, can I?â, but even so, he looked at Eddie, waiting for some sign of what he wanted, whether he wanted him to stay or go.
But Eddie gave no indication of what he wanted, wedging himself in between the two and pulling the door tighter to himself, his expression thunderous through the blooming bruises and angry cuts.
âThe fuck are you doing here?â
Steve took that as his cue to go. Even through all the bluster and posturing and how much the two of them still didnât like each other-
We barely tolerate each other, Steve insisted to himself, we donât like each other. I donât like him.
-he wasnât going to force himself into this drama and if Eddie needed to tear this guy to shreds on his own, Steve would let him.
But he had barely taken a step back before Eddieâs hand shot out, grasping at what he could until he had a fistful of Steveâs shirt, white knuckling it and stopping him in his tracks.
The movement was hidden by the door, Rick wouldnât have been able to see it and Eddie didnât acknowledge that heâd done anything, still staring his ex down.
Steve stopped dead where he was and when Eddie seemed to realise that he wouldnât be moving, his hand loosened, coming back up to rest against the door.
âIâm here to sort things out between us. Try to fix it.â Rick said, his voice going soft.
Eddie exhaled a derisive laugh through his nose. âWhy donât you go and âfixâ your wife?â
Steve crossed his arms, standing guard in the back but still mostly out of sight.
âCâmon babeâŠâ Rick reached out, attempting to grasp at Eddieâs fingers but Eddie snatched his hand back. âI think youâre just⊠making a big deal out of this when you donât need to.â
âA big deal?â Eddie snapped, leaning forward. âNot only have you been cheating on your wife but youâve been cheating on me too.â
âYou?â Rick sputtered, incredulous.
He exhaled with an eye roll and only then noticed that Steve was still standing there.
âAre you serious?â Rick almost shrieked. âWhat the hell are you still here for? Showâs over, normie!â He waved his hand in Steveâs direction as though dismissing him.
Steve raised his eyebrows and smiled back, not moving an inch.
Rick looked back to Eddie. âAre you not going to do anything about him? Weâre in the middle-â
âOh my god.â Steve injected as much sarcasm as he could. âIs this a private conversation? I had no idea.â
Rickâs face was turning red with frustration. âYou got a real attitude problem, man.â
Steve turned his mouth down in a pout. âOh no.â
âThatâs it.â Rick slammed against the door all of a sudden, wrenching it from Eddieâs grip and almost blowing it open if it wasnât for Steveâs hands stopping it in its tracks.
The sudden stop jostled Rick, sending him slightly off balance and Eddie took the opportunity to kick out hard, swinging his leg up until it landed in between Rickâs legs.Â
Eddie retracted his foot for just a second as Rick crumpled with a scream of pain before kicking out again, catching him in the hip and shoving him back into the hallway, sending him sprawling.
âLose my fucking number, asshole.âÂ
Eddie spat down at Rick before turning back inside and slamming the door behind him.
His eyes were still narrowed and furious as he glared at Steve who could do nothing but stand there.
The sound of Rickâs groans were still echoing beyond the door as the two of them looked at each other.
The silence stretched on as Eddie heaved heavy breaths in and out and Steve stared dumbfounded.
There was a glossy sheen to Eddieâs eyes by the time Steve opened his mouth, not sure of what he was going to say.
But it didnât matter.
Eddie stormed past him without a backwards glance, his hair just disappearing behind the door before he slammed it closed and the wailing of a guitar and the crashing of drums started to scream out of the speakers in his room.
He didnât see Eddie for the rest of the day. Didnât knock on his door to try to pull him out and didnât try to get him to talk.
Steve was only just waking up the day after when he heard Eddieâs bedroom door open and shuffling coming down the hall towards the phone.
He twiddled his thumbs, waiting in his room while he heard Eddieâs muttered conversation.Â
He didnât want to interrupt, didnât want to have to force his presence on Eddie before it was necessary but he really had to pee and heâd have to walk past the phone to get to the bathroom.
Thankfully the conversation didnât last long but then Eddie shuffled away from his own room towards the bathroom and Steve had to take some very deep breaths.
He couldnât really be mad at him for it, the guy hadnât come out of his room at all yesterday after the confrontation, he deserved to pee but Steve felt like his kidneys were gonna start failing at any second.
When he heard Eddie shuffle back into his room Steve nearly cracked the wall with how hard he threw the door open, rushing down the hallway and into the bathroom before he exploded.
Eddie hadnât made another appearance by the time Steve was grabbing his keys for work and as much as it irritated him, he was feeling a little wary about leaving him all alone for most of the day.
Turned out he didnât really need to worry about it.
Just as he had turned back towards Eddieâs room, there was a knock on the front door.
He swung it open to find bouncing blonde curls and a bright perky smile.
âHi Steve.â
âOh, hey Chrissy.â He stepped aside, allowing her to sweep inside. Her sweater was very unusual. Dark blue and baggy and tucked into her light wash jeans. Steve could have sworn heâd seen it before. There was a large plastic bag in her hand that a glance inside told him was filled with every tooth rottingly sweet thing she could have scooped off the shelves at their local store.
She placed the bag on the kitchen counter with a light clink of glass against glass coming from inside.
Maybe it was also a day-drunk type of visit.
âHow is he?â Chrissy asked, blinking up at him with her big earnest eyes.
âIâm⊠not sure?â Steve shrugged, rubbing the back of his neck a little embarrassed. âI havenât seen him since yesterday.â
She nodded. âOkay. Thatâs okay.â
âI think Iâm probably going to call over to Robinâs after work.â He muttered, trying to keep his burning blush down. âHang out for a little bit.â
He didnât think he needed to say he was doing it to give Chrissy and Eddie their space, to do their ice-cream and chocolate and alcohol and talk about how terrible men were without him hovering. But thankfully she got it, smiling at him so bright it almost hurt to look at.
âCould youâŠ?â She hesitated, pulling the sleeves of her sweater over her fingers. âCould you ask Robin- never mind.â
Steve opened his mouth to assure her it was okay to continue but she barrelled on.
âThe boys are coming over later too. Is that okay?â
âThe boys?â Did she mean the kids?
âFrom the band.â
âOh! Yeah I mean why wouldnât that be okay? Eddie lives here too.â
âYeah. I just wanted to check in case-â
âIn case I complained about it later?â He tried to ask in his kindest tone. Maybe heâd been guilty of bitching about them in the past but he would never deny Eddie his support system, not at s time like this.
Even if he did⊠dislike him?
Did he still dislike him?
What was he talking about, of course he did.
âIâm sorry.â Chrissy looked incredibly guilty and Steve couldnât stand it.
âNo, you were right to ask. I havenât- Iâve been a bit rude in the past.â
She looked like she wanted to apologise again so he shot her a warm smile and patted her on the shoulder. âI have to get to work, but take care of him, yeah?â
She gave him a curious look but nodded, sending him out the door with a wave of her hand, her sleeve following loosely where it was still pulled over her fingers.
Steve was halfway through his shift by the time Robin came in. She worked shorter hours ever since sheâd taken that part time internship as a translator.
Theyâd just gotten past their mid-day coffee rush by the time they had a chance to talk.
âAre you doing anything after this?â He asked her, leaning back against the counter.
âIs this your way of asking me out?â Robin was rifling through the under counter refrigerator next to him, throwing out any old stock that had gone out of date.
âYes.â Steve nodded. âIâve been hopelessly in love with you for years and I thought now was the best time to confess.â
âYou could have picked a more romantic location.â She sniffed at a container of strawberries, considering before shaking her head and dumping them.
âBut my heart told me it had to be now, Birdie.â
Robin just rolled her eyes at him.
âSo?â He nudged her with his foot, very nearly sending her off balance. âYou, me, two of the best subs this city has and your couch. Itâs my best offer.â
She shut the refrigerator door, pushing herself to stand, using the counter for balance. She nearly jumped out of her skin when Steve absentmindedly snapped his fingers at her, remembering.
âOh! You have a date tonight, right?âÂ
âI did have a date tonight but sh- he cancelled.â
âHe cancelled, did he?â Steve smirked, trying not to enjoy the poorly masked revulsion on Robinâs face at having to pretend to be dating a man.
âYes. He did. Rain check for another time.â
âBummer.âÂ
Robin hadnât told him much about the girl she was seeing and Steve hadnât pushed for any more information than she was willing to give. When she wanted him to know, heâd know.
âBut-â he continued â-that leaves your schedule wide open for a date with me.â He spread his arms wide open and smiled at her.
âWell, aren't I just the luckiest girl in the world?â She batted her eyelashes at him.
âThe luckiest. Any reason for the rain check?â
Robin nodded. âFriend emergency.â
âOh. Thatâs sweet.â
âYeah.â She smiled. âHeâs a very sweetâŠâ her nose scrunched up, âboy.â
âVery sweet boy.â He repeated with a smile. âSo can I steal your keys? Have everything all spread out for you when you get home?â He dragged his hand down his chest, wiggling his hips.
âGod, Steven.â Robin shuddered. âYouâre repulsive.â
âWrong. I am a dish.â
âUgh. Gag.â
Steve pouted at her. âIâll get you a milkshake too, how about that?â
She crossed her arms and stuck her nose up. âFine.â
She could only hold for so long before she started to break, cracking a smile.
âIf you two donât mind,â a voice next to them said and they both jumped, seeing Mark their manager standing there, âcould you stop flirting and get back to work?â
Neither of them even bothered arguing that they were not flirting anymore. They both knew the rest of the staff had a betting pool going on when they would get together.
They would be waiting a very long time.
By the time Robin got home, Steve had himself swaddled in her blankets and had stolen her best hot water bottle.
Why did she live somewhere so cold?
His toasty warmth didnât last very long, however.Â
She wrestled the hot water bottle from his grip by resorting to dirty tactics, pulling at his hair until he let it go.Â
âHow many times have I told you the hair is off limits?â He hissed at her, trying to fix it. His hair was his fucking signature, how could she be so rude?
âThat is exactly why I go for it every time. Itâs your weak spot.â She grinned, smug in her win and attempting to pull the throw off of him as well.
âGo get one of my sweaters if youâre gonna be such a big bitch baby about it. I just got off work.â She pouted, batting her eyelashes at him. âIâm tired.â
âI brought you subs and milkshakes!â
Robin heaved out a heavy, put upon sigh. âFine.â She heaved herself up from the couch, still clutching at the hot water bottle and disappeared inside her room.
Steve took the opportunity to swaddle himself again, just getting cosy when he heard Robin call out, âEvie, did you steal my sweater?â
âWhich one?â He shouted back. He probably had five or more of hers at home and he wasnât even sure if all of those had started out as hers or his.
âThe blue one!â
âWhich blue one?â
âThe new blue one!â
âWhat does it look like?â
âWhat do you think it looks like, itâs fucking blue!â
Steve rolled his eyes and tried to remember any blue sweaters that existed within his own apartment.Â
âIâm pretty sure I donât have it. I donât even remember you getting a new blue sweater.â
âWell where the hell is it then?â
âHow am I supposed to know? I didnât even know it existed!â
âYouâre supposed to know these things!â
âMaybe the sweater fairy stole it.â He snickered to himself until a dark red sweater that had definitely belonged to him first hit him in the face.
âYou are the sweater fairy.â She pouted, sitting back down and stealing the throw from his lap.
âDonât hate crime me. Itâs rude.â He tugged the throw back over his legs, leaving her enough slack to cover herself as well.
Robin reached over to snatch her sub from the coffee table. âSo.â
âSo.â
âSomethingâs going on with Eddie.â
âWhat?â Steve ran through the entire day in his head. He didnât think heâd mentioned Eddie once. âWhen did I say there was something going on with Eddie?â
âYou didnât.â Robinâs mouth went slack in the way it usually did whenever she was hiding something but she covered it up with a large bite, speaking through a full mouth. âBut youâre here and not at home soâŠâ
âThatâs not that unusual.â
âNo, but what is unusual is that you asked if you could steal my keys instead of just taking them.â
âOh.â Yeah. That was not the norm. âUm, well itâs not really my place to say-â
âWho am I going to tell?â
âThatâs besides the point.â
âTell me.â She jabbed him with a sharp elbow.
âI donât know if I can.â He said, running his hand through his hair.
âI mean, nothing too personal, if you donât wanna.â She backtracked with a shrug.
âDoesnât matter what I want. The thing is itâs not my business, itâs Eddieâs.â He shrugged. âBut there was some⊠relationship drama the other night.â
âOoh. Juicy drama?â
Steve winced. âNot exactly. More like⊠red flag drama.â
âOh shit. Chr- I didnât know that.â
Steve looked at her, bewildered. âI wouldnât expect you to, how would you know?â
Robin just shrugged, shoving another large bite into her mouth.Â
âI donât really⊠Iâm not comfortable talking about the things Eddie and I talked about but I do need you to help me⊠figure myself out.â
âOkay, that I can do. Iâm an expert at it. I helped you find your sexuality.â
âFind it? It wasnât fucking lost Birdie.â
âYeah, but I brought it out into the sunlight.â
âJesus, youâre acting like you released it from captivity. I knew. Iâve always known. Just because you didnât know that I know, doesnât mean I didnât know.â
She shoved his arm. âI unlocked it.â
He shoved her back. âYou didnât unlock shit.â
She shoved him again. âI unlocked it. Youâre welcome.âÂ
He gave her a final shove with a huff to go right along with it. âWhatever.â
âOkay, no more side tracking. Tell me your scrambly brain thoughts.â
âAlright. Um. Okay. So.â Shit. How much could he tell her without either breaking Eddieâs trust or revealing too much. âSo there was drama the other night, between Eddie and the boyfriend, you know that much. I wonât say what happened but he didnât get home until like four in the morning and he called out of work yesterday and today-â
âHe called out?!â Robin shrieked, open mouthed. Sheâd lived with Eddie long enough and been through enough of Steveâs bitching to know just how much Eddie loved that job.
Steve nodded. âYeah. It was⊠it wasnât good, Birdie, what happened. It was actually really fucking fucked up.â
She nodded, encouraging him to continue.
âSo then yesterday heâs trying to sleep it off pretty much and thereâs a knock at the door.â
âOh no.â
âYeah and I go get it because I had assumed it would be Mrs. Henderson with some chicken noodle soup and you know Iâd kill my own mother for some of that soup-â
â-Iâd kill your mother for some too, yes.â
â-yeah. But it wasnât Mrs. Henderson, it was Rick, the boyfriend. Or ex-boyfriend, I donât know and he was trying to like, bully his way into the apartment to see Eddie and I donât know what happened with me but-â
â-you went full guard dog protector mode didnât you?â
âIâŠâ Steve sighed, looking down at his hands. âYeah, I did. Why did I do that? Itâs none of my business. I donât even like the guy. Why would I care?â
âBecause you always care, Evie. You saw someone who needed help and you helped, itâs what you do.â
Steve scoffed. âHardly. Itâs not like Iâm some fucking selfless hero for doing it.â
âNah, you kinda are.â
âIt was just some guy!â
âAnd youâre just some guy too!â
Steve glared at her, offended. âYou take that back.â
Robin looked at him for a moment. âOkay, fair, retracted.â
He gave her a small grin and dragged the sleeves of the sweater over his fingers.
âHey! Stop, youâll stretch it!â
âWhat does it matter if I stretch it, itâs mine.â
âIt is not.â
âIt is too!â
âIs not!â
âIs too!â He jabbed her in the side, knowing full well that if they continued the way they were this could go on all night. It had gone on all night more than once.
Robin squawked and immediately lunged, her hands grabbing at the top of his head.Â
âNo, no! I told you not the hair!â
âAnd I told you itâs your weakness.â She hissed, her eyes flashing as he scrambled at her wrists before she could get her fingers buried deep enough.
âBoobies!â He shouted, as loud as possible. The effect was immediate, Robin tried to cringe away from him with a look of disgust. âBoobies, boobies, boobies!â
âOh my god are you five fucking years old? Can you not say tits or breasts or fucking mammary glands or something like a damn adult?â She wrenched her wrists away from him. âIâm so embarrassed for you.â
âIâm embarrassed of your face.â
âIâm embarrassed of your weird man hair.â She scowled, patting at his chest.Â
âYou shouldnât be. Everyone loves the chest hair. Even the lesbians. Itâs like a respect thing.â
Robin rolled her eyes. âWhatever.â
Steve pouted to himself.
He just wanted to help. He wanted to make sure Eddie was okay, that he would continue to be okay and there was this horrible little part in the back of his head that also wanted to make sure that no one would put their hands on Eddie ever like that again.
It was weird and possessive in a way he really shouldnât have been feeling about his irritating as shit roommate who didnât even have the courtesy to play guitar with headphones on half the time.
No matter how good his playing was.
âI can smell your hair burning.â
âWhat do I do now, Birdie?â
âWhat do you mean?â
âLike⊠I want to help, I guess. But I donât know how. We donât even like each other, why would he accept my help?â
âWell⊠how did he react when you did what you did?â
âHe⊠I guess he⊠I was going to leave when Rick came to the door and he stopped me. He didnât say anything to me, he didnât even look at me but he grabbed onto me and⊠I think he was scared, Rob. Iâve never seen him scared.â
âWell Steve, I think youâre gonna do what you always do. Help. Whether you know youâre doing it or not, whether you even really mean to, you always help.â
"You're making me out to be some sort of saint."
âIâm really not.â She shook her head. âYouâre just⊠you.â
âWow, incredible observation there, Birdie.â
âOh, fuck off and finish this for me.â She shoved the rest of her sub into his hands.

You finally made something of yourself. Sure it was all blood money, but you did- you did what you had to do to survive and not only that, to thrive.Â
Before leaving he told you to get in the car while he talked to Sofia outside, when you got back he was on his knees- a gun pointed at his face. You acted on impulse and drove the car into one of the guys there; best thing you couldâve done at the moment he told you.
You would think that planning to escape would distance you from him but it did the opposite- even after wrecking his car, that poor gorgeous car; youâve never been in one as fancy before- let alone drive it. Â
âIâm so-sorry about your car.â you said as you stared at it in flames.Â
âYeah- what're ya gonna do 'bout it- only the good die young.â he came closer to you and grabbed the back of your head- forcing you to look at him. âDonât be sad about it- youâre worth a thousand more to me.âÂ
He told you that you two were âreally in it nowâ- and he couldnât have been more right about that.
He got the Bliss operation back from the Maroni family by burning the mother and the heir apparent to their family- together. His brutality frightened you but If he wanted to rule the mob- he had to be brutal and unwavering in his choices, at least thatâs what you told yourself to justify what he had done. Now not only Sofia Gigante was after you, but also Sal Maroni.
In the weeks following you had your own operation- underground, in a sewer system that connected you to all of Gotham, you became Ozâs eyes and ears above ground, traveling on your motorcycle- giving him news about the world above and delivering his money directly in his hands. He had given you your own gunâ"just in case someone messes with you"âthough you never ended up using it.
Oz trusted you, even after your attempt at an escape- he moved you two to an apartment on the East Side, one that reminded you of your old one; without electricity but it did its job. In the apartment you got very close to him, you got to know him much better and you changed too in the meantime, you were more confident- more sure of yourself next to him.Â
He was all you had, the one person who made you feel like you were the center of his world. One night- he came "home" late, as he often did. You were already in bed, curled up and trying to stay warm when you felt the familiar weight of his body sinking into the mattress. He slid under the covers and pulled you close, and you sighed, finally feeling the warmth and comfort of his embrace.
"The people in charge really donât give a fuck about us," you murmured, exhaustion lacing your voice. It was a tired frustrationâbeing cold at work and now being cold at home. Winter was coming, and your mind drifted to families with children who needed warmth.
He took a deep breath. The long days weighed heavily on him; managing his people and the constant stress left him drained. Most nights, he would grab a bite, and as soon as his head hit the pillow, cold or not, heâd fall into a deep sleep. Youâd take advantage of those moments, cuddling close and pulling his heavy arm over you. Oswald slept like a rock.
"Iâll do something about it," he said, his deep voice vibrating through you. In the weeks youâd been together, youâd learned how to speak to him, how to make him feel powerfulâyour man, your only one. He was the only man who had ever made you feel this way, and you couldnât deny the rush you felt watching him command respect when he barked out orders to his men, a cigar perched between his lips. God, he was handsome. Your stomach would flutter every time you caught a glimpse of him, even if only for a second.
He was a towering presence, terrifying when he loomed over you, and seeing him angry was enough to scare you senseless. But it also sets your heart racing for other reasons too.
Before the club, his gaze never strayed from you; now, it was his hands that constantly sought you. He couldn't help himself when you were close, sometimes grabbing you in public like an eager kid in a candy shop. You learned that when he called you into his "office," it meant he was either seething with anger or burning with desireâeither way, you knew heâd end up taking it out on you.Â
Heâd told you more than once that he hadnât felt this alive in years, and you could sense the shift in everything he didâfrom the way he spoke to the intensity in the way he fucked you. He had changed.
You told him about Squid- about how he came up to you today- asking you where you got your clothes- âwhat shit you got cookingâ - Oz asked you if it was going to be a problem, you told him no; he could count on you- you wonât let him down.
âYou know, I think youâre the only thing keeping me good, doll.â he traced circles on your arm. If you were keeping him good, what was Oz like when bad? The thought sent a shiver down your spine.
You felt his hands traveling under the blanket and beneath the sweater and t-shirt you had on and you proceeded to hiss once they made contact with your skin âyour hands are so coldâ you said and he chuckled.
The next day, you made true to your promise and met up with Squid- you had a plan, of course you did, you would give him some money and hope he would leave you alone.
Of course the dumb bastard declined the money- of course he tried to intimidate you to âbring him to the big manâ or else he was gonna go to the Maronis or Falcones- maybe they would help him; the fuck was he thinking? That a small-time asshole like him could make a deal with Oz?Â
So many thoughts were running through your head, what if you did bring him to Oz? You didnât want to bother him, he had enough stuff he had to worry about- plus the things Oz would do to him were too graphic to think about. What if you ran? No, he would catch you- probably beat the shit out of you too. Shit.
âOk, Iâll take you to him.â you said as you were going down the steps, him following. Fuck-fuck you had to shoot him, this motherfucker was going to ruin whatever you had going on.
You had to shoot him, no other time better than now- your pistol was in the front of your jeans. Do it now. You grabbed your gun from your pants and before you knew it, you turned around and pulled the trigger.Â
When you opened your eyes, Squid was gripping his throat- blood was coming out in buckets- he stared at you and your shocked face. Neither of you believing what you just did. Your breathing was becoming heavier and heavier- almost gasping for breath- you just shot someone- he was going to die.Â
Oh god, he was dying. You watched as the light drained from his eyes and you didnât want to stick around to see him pass so you ran- you ran to your motorcycle and then you drove above the speed limit, probably breaking a few laws too until you got underground.
He was probably dead by now- you just killed him. You never realized that you were crying as well; you ran to his office and thanked the lord that no one was around to see you.Â
You opened the door and there he was, wearing a well tailored shirt and a vest- writing something down- money next to him. He quickly looked up as he heard you come in and then dropped his head down to continue what he was writting âWell look who decided to pay me a visitâ, he muttered with a smirk; you tried to control your sobs and when he heard the shallow breath you took to steady yourself- he looked up again âThe fuck happened?â he immediately got up and went towards you.
You told him what happened between sobs as he held you on his lap, seated in his chair. You told him everything; about Squid- how he threatened to go to the Falcones or the Maronis- how you knew you had no choice and while leaning back he told you that it will get easier, this isnât the end of the world.
âYou wanna know something?â He grabbed your face and made you look at him âYou did what was right, you protected yourself, what you have. No one can take that from you- Iâm proud of you.â Your sad demeanor was gone by now and replaced with the familiar warmth you had whenever he said something like this.
He kissed you and brought your body and embraced you âYouâve grown so much in these weeks, youâre no longer the kid that used to sneak around buildings-â you kissed him, bringing his lower lip between your lips. You wanted to forget- forget what happened and what you did- he always made you forget all your worries, you only ever thought about him when you were in his presence. He put his arm beneath both of your legs as you were sitting and you almost yelped when he got you on his desk.
âOz-â Ok, maybe getting him started wasnât the best idea, whenever you got him going he would forget about the windows in his office or the fact that someone might hear you.
You tried to bring one of your legs between the two of you, trying to stop him â-Oz, when we are homeâ you tried to reason with the man, even if getting fucked in his office would turn you on in the worst ways and you would be lying if you said that you werenât getting wet already.
He loved the power he would hold over you- whenever he would manhandle you in any position he would like or whenever he would order you to do something- you couldnât lie, you liked it too; sometimes he would have you suck his cock as he solved the men's pay, sometimes he would have you on all fours on his bed- Oz was a man that loved to be in control, to be number one- the best. You knew that.Â
He was already getting your jacket off, âOz-â he grabbed the money from the table and placed it away from you two, before getting back to kissing and groping you.
He grabbed hold of your clothed pussy and from the feeling of his hand there- you raised your butt slightly up and pushed back into him.
This relationship that you two had, it made you feel like a woman- it was so different than the one you had with Robert, where it was just light touches on your face and small kisses- Oswald was a man, whenever he wanted you, he would have you and it made you feel as if you were wanted and desired- it made you feel alive.
He stopped and you knew someone was probably at the door. Shit- this is so embarrassing, you looked down and without making eye contact, went into the small room connecting to his office- he had a bed there, a small one; not big enough for two people to sleep comfortably but it was something. It was also way more warm in here than outside where everyone else was working.Â
You took your sweater off and sat on the bed, while listening to what he was saying to the guy that came in, something about the meeting he had and a surprise. You had to ask him about that, but after he was done with you.
Your heart was beating out of your ches- the door opened.Â
He looked at you and made small steps towards the bed, you were smiling while scooting back- with butterflies dancing in your stomach; wondering what he was gonna do next when he grabbed both of your legs and placed them on either side of him before joining you on the bed- on top of you.
One of his hands immediately went to your ass, giving him easier access to rubbing himself over you and the other one was supporting him.
You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him even closer as your lips met his. Despite the darkness and heaviness of the moment, he still radiated a magnetic presenceâfull of charisma as ever, his scent enveloping you in a way that made everything else fade. From the sharpness of his aftershave to the depth of his cologne, he had it all. He started pushing himself even harder against you, where it was almost painful; you moaned in his mouth and against his tongue.Â
He raised himself on his knees on the bed, casting a shadow over you and ordered you to take your jeans off and get on all fours while he was taking his vest off and unbuttoning his dress shirt. Your hands were shaking a little bit as you unbuttoned your pants and took them off.
After you obeyed him and raised your butt in the air, he grabbed hold of it- to angle you how he wanted; excitement so palpable you couldnât help but smile to yourself, almost laughing. You felt him slowly enter you, giving you a few small moments to adjust to his size- you closed your eyes and moaned, you donât think youâre ever gonna get enough of this man; all of him.
âOh baby-â he was always so vocal during sex.Â
The feeling of him stretching you out and the feeling of him pushing himself in you in and out- whenever he would press himself back in, he brushed up against your g-spot- the sound of his body when it connected to yours was so loud- it made your cheeks burn- you were so wet and he didnât even touch you all that much, like that night at the club. He had a gun under your chin and you were so wet, who even were you anymore?
You arched your back, consciously making yourself as pleasing as possible for him. The act itself sent a thrill through you, but it also made your cheeks flush with a mix of desire and shy uncertainty- the usual girlhood embarrassment that flushed your cheeks overtaking your body whenever he had you like this.Â
When he found his rhythm- while grabbing your waist and pushing you back into him, heâd shower you with praise. âYou take me so well⊠youâre such a good girlâmy good girl.â He knew exactly how to make your stomach flip with words like thatâthis old dog.Â
He pulled you back against him time and time again before you felt like it was almost painful, your moans of pleasure mixing with those of pain.
He pulled himself out and got on his back next to you, âCome âereâ you giggled in excitement- he loved whenever you rode him.
You squatted over him- your legs on either side of his body and with one of your hands- you brought his cock between your legs and you watched closely as his stupid grin was wiped from his face when you lowered down on him, mouth open- you gave him a quick peck on his lips. Your legs were almost shaking and a thin layer of sweat covered his forehead.Â
From this position you could feel him so deep inside- you started to grind yourself on him- it felt so good; you almost started crying again.Â
Oz grabbed your tits from underneath your shirt and was slowly pushing himself deeper in you âYouâre my girl- Iâm so proud-â he groaned as he said that, this mountain of a man- beneath you, between your thighs; you felt like you held the power â-Iâm so proud of you.âÂ
From this position you could feel him brushing against your clit, the feeling only making you go faster, the thrill of reaching your peak on him taking over âeasyâŠeasyâ he repeated- obviously, you didn't listen.Â
You shifted the tempo, lifting yourself up before sliding back down, causing him to grimace. Without missing a beat, he pulled your upper body down, pressing you flush against him- you pressed your face against his shoulder and he grabbed it- holding it there; the cold feeling of his rings compared to how hot your face was giving you goosebumps.
You felt him adjust his legs and from this position he started to fuck you how he wanted to. He thrived on being in charge, practically reveled in the power it gave him. God, your throat was dry- you were sure you would be sore down there after you two were done.
You knew anyone walking by could 100% hear you at this point, you tried to be quiet but to no avail with this man. Oz seemed to like whenever people would stare at the two of you and it excited him to think anyone would be listening in.
You brought your face up when he slowed down and kissed him, putting your tongue in his mouth. This felt so amazing but you knew he probably had places he had to be. âDo I make you feel good baby?â you nodded, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to the right side of his face, right on the thick scar that ran from his mouth to his cheekbone.
He was a strikingly intimidating man, his features hardened by a life of danger. You slowly brought yourself down and up- trying to match his movements.Â
âYou get so tight around me-â he placed his arm over you, bringing you as tight as he could on him.Â
One of your hands went under the pillow he had under his head and the other was gripping the side of the bed. His rhythm was becoming sloopy- switching between fucking you and kissing you, on your cheeks or on your mouth; he grabbed your ass in both of his hands, squeezing and pushing you down on him while he fucked you.Â
You looked in his eyes, the light from above casting a shadow over them that only added to his allure. â-Iâm gonna cumâ you nodded again- words escaping you âTell me where-tell meâ he closed his eyes- you knew he would start with that, the only way he finished was inside you.Â
Whether it was your mouth or your pussy. Oz loved when you would describe how he felt in you, how you loved when he would fuck you- how you wanted him to cum in you. It turned him on. It turned him on how embarrassed you would feel most of the time he made you say those things.
You told him you wanted it inside and It wasnât long before he started his fast pace again and you closed your eyes, trying not to moan as loud as you would like- fuck he felt so good. It mustn't have been long before you felt him slow down and the familiar feeling of his cock pulsing inside of you. You had to drink some water- your throat was hurting. Oz hugged you close to him and while one of his hands was rubbing your back he kissed your forehead- âYou feeling better?â.

Tease tidbit Tuesday
Tagged by @diazsdimples
Had this idea last week. I hope to write it soon as it's little idea, but it's me and it's uni time so. Anyway fic that for now is called Tommy doesn't want kids(or does he?):
âYou know pout and look at your coffee cup won't help make your coffee taste better,â Josh smirks at him when he enters the restroom but then changes his expression to a more serious one. âRelationship problems?â
Buck just shrugs. It's not a problem, they are not fighting, but his heart and brain work too much.
âWanna share? I'm a great listener. Helping people with their problems is my job.â
âTommy and I had a talk about the future. He mentioned his deal breaker andâŠ,â Buck sighs tugging his curls. âIf it be anyone else I know I would say his deal breaker is opposite to mine and we're not going to last, butâŠâ
âBut you didn't,â Josh ends for him and Buck just nods.
âWhy?â
"Because⊠because I want to be with him and now I'm not sure what I want more: Tommy or having kids. I don't want to lose Tommy. But I'm so sad because I want kids, especially after I was a donor and I-I don't know how to choose. I love Tommy so much, but I'm not sure if I love him more than giving up this dream."
"You need to think about it a lot, Buck. Make sure you won't change your mind in 2 yearsâ
âI know. That's why I came to see Maddie.â
âCan I say one thing?â
âYeah.â
âImagine yourself in ten years. In two situations. One you have kids but no Tommy,â Buck's heart cries in pain and he can't even really picture this. Only two little kids with blue eyes but they have Tommy's electric blue, not his baby blue iris. âNow imagine yourself in ten years married to Tommy,â and Buck does.
He pictures dinners with wine, laughs and dances to their playlist of songs that they love. He pictures the backyard full of flowers, berries and trees that they put there. He pictures the dog they would get. Maybe even two. He pictures smiles when they wake up together with Tommy kissing him till he can't breathe but ready to give up air. He pictures himself happy, even though he doesn't have everything he dreamt about, he has Tommy andâŠ
Oh. I guess it is. My secret to happiness.
It's Tommy.
âI think your face told me anything I need to know about your choice.â
âYeah, I'm sure it did,â Buck smiles. âI'm still a little sad. I had a whole list of names that go good with Kinard and Buckley-Kinard.â
Josh chuckles. âOh, I'm sure you did. And I think it would hurt. Some days more than others, but if Tommy is more important for you, you can do it.â
âYeah. Not every dream comes true. But I don't want to let Tommy go away.â
Josh smiles at him, âCan I give you another piece of advice?â
âPlease, you're really good,â Buck smiles at his friend.
âTell Tommy about how it was a deal breaker for you. He needs to know. Don't hide it from him.â
Buck nods.

it's probably decently obvious that my main lemon demon design was created BEFORE seeing any fandom depictions (or even really that much official art past the logo) because of how violently he stands out in comparison to other designs. it's a little obvious that my inspiration was self-contained and it granted me a bit of creative freedom along with a completely different train of thought while designing him. his three eyes however is very much a relic of 2022 because I was designing a lot of demons with asymmetrical faces at the time and well, why not make another
anyway here's a comparison of him to my most recent lemon demon original design (where it's a bit more obvious I was influenced by somewhat of a fandom culture)
extra bonus rambling under the cut
my general design process has actually stayed relatively contained with a few exceptions like soft fuzzy man's color and weirdly neil himself. yeah sorry chat neil is the first guy that was highly influenced by someone else's design you can shoot me too if you'd like. but I legitimately believe he's the only real example because every other character that has a design remotely similar to someone else is likely due to us both following a similar source material (like my cabinet design being based off polybius) or there being only so many ways to interpret the design (gef the mongoose would've fallen into this category if it wasn't for the fact I made him Joker colors)
in general I tend to follow a mindset of how "weird" I can make a design or how much I can push a lyric/implement it into a design. I also like to twist around the convention and try new things. a good example of both of these apply to my doctor amnesia design.
really the main things going through my head were "well he didn't state HOW many eyes", chosing an eye color that often is overlooked in conventional beauty standards to elevate them and cause you to think, while leaning into the somewhat otherworldly nature she's depicted in by giving her blue skin, a color I associate with the song.
another fun thing I'll do is create a "design pipeline" where I'll take an attribute and run it through a list of connections before we end up in a place long past where we started or just combining a bunch of traits that could be interpreted that way, resulting in designs like this.
though wolfgang isn't my weirdest design, he definitely did not start where we ended off. I believe before the wizard of oz theming for clown circus was set in stone (a choice that has EVERYTHING to do with oz explodes and an element I'll explain later), he was some kinda mirror object head that had absolutely nothing to do with his current namesake. since I wasn't satisfied with that design, I kept a relative aspect of the personality and shapes and thus ended up creating a really interesting take on a character who is largely depicted as... well there's no really good way to say this, but Bad.
since I was working with a new fresh aspect I started by making him a wolf... and then connecting him to "there's a robot in my head". this kind of connected the dots to ultimately make him associated to the tin man, since no one was connected to that character for the wizard of oz element and it was up for grabs (this is also how he somehow got associated with toasters via connecting the previously mentioned song to "what's in the toaster", etc etc). these pipelines of connecting songs that aren't normally related, but making them Work in a believable way makes designs more interesting for me and gives them a bit more purpose and personality. I think this is what ultimately makes people get a bit lost on my interpretations considering they aren't super simple by just being about One Song, but by being about multiple that aren't originally related in the source material. just like how I connected dr amnesia to when he died, explaining a bit of her more mildly supernatural or off-putting elements by making the man in that song her father.
the final real design element that I focus on is the strange rule I follow in terms of how these characters are shaped. there's a massive sort of "alice in wonderland" theming going on in terms of how human/humanoid designs look in contrast to designs that look less and less human. their proportions become more cartoon and shaped, their sizes are affected etc etc all while the human/humanoid characters stay relatively normal next to each other with more believable design elements.
here's the horrid long strip of nearly 100 different character renders next to each other to get a general idea on what I'm talking about
the silhouettes of the human characters "pop" less because they're supposed to contrast to their nonhuman counterparts. which isn't something I normally do, but given the source idea of a sort of "wonderland", I think it works in this specific context.
in conclusion: I'm design autistic and like to use designing to try new things, which is why I fucked that lemon up. sorry about that chat
#guy on the right is completely unaffiliated with the ncu which is why I don't think about him that much sorry ld#also imagine him with half circle black eyes like the logo design because that's legitimately the only colored art of him#nobody has ever actually asked me about this before so I will no longer wait for permission#debating whether or not I should even main tag this I want this self contained to my followers#but it's late so I'm sure no one will see this anyway erm#edit: fuck it it took like ten morbillion years to write the bonus stuff I'm main tagging#lemon demon#mos text post

Hi, I just read your story on AO3 and I loved it a lot but it also left me with a lot of questions about Oz and his relationship with Sun Wukong, especially the part where you mentioned that Oz after recovering the relics couldn't return to his world but at the end it gives the impression that she is no longer with him and at the beginning you also mentioned that this isn't a fanfic as such but like a diary or letters that she left him and that's eating my head in a good way that I need answers đđđđ By the way, I know this is a bit long but I really love your content, your art, and your writing đâșïžđđ„°
would you believe me if I said I came up with the idea to add those paragraphs at the end of each stories to make it sound like they are not together anymore literally as I was uploading my fic to AO3 LMFAO
ok ok, since I'm not an eloquent writer and will enver write a fully fledged fic, I will just spoil the ending of my non-existing story.
Basically after Black Myth Wukong story line, Oz did not manage to go home like she thought she would after helping DO. I've also mentioned that her ancestor were part of the Celestial Court but got fucked over by the court, so "book 2" of my AU would be SWK and Oz dealing with the Celestial Court, trying to figure out what what the fuck happened.
Everyone is like trying to use Oz as a scapegoat for the shit her ancestors did. She's just like, I wanna live my life and idc what my ancestors did that was like over 1000 years go for me. but 1000 year in celestial court is like 83 years ago in celestial heaven time, so like not thaaaat long ago for them. WW2 is for us like 80 years ago. it's a long time ago but also not really. people who lived through the war are still alive. So anyway, court wants her to serve them again like her ancestor did, or die I guess. reason is tied to some power that flows in Oz because of her ancestor, which I do plan to explain in another post at some point.
something something happens, where either Oz has no choice but to return to her homeworld, oooor someone from the Celestial Court forcibly sends her back. If you watched Barbie the nutcracker, the same shit the rat king pulled on Clara. Or maybe even SWK pushed her through a portal to send her to safety.
also in my AU, time flows differently between the Oz's world and SWK world. A day can pass in her world, and it could be few weeks or months or even years in SWK world.
ALSO important thing is SWK at some point gives Oz a ring made from the birthstone, like he found rock pieces and asked Yin Tiger to make him a ring ("I'm not that kind of smith, monkey"). Traditional Chinese Wedding does not include an engagement ring, but SWK was there when Oz was explaining to monkey kids how wedding traditione worked in her world, and he loves her so he made the ring, gave it to her when confessing to her.
She still has the ring when she went back to her world, and there it's like not much time has passed, maybe a week at most. She still made it to her Taylor Swift concert.
Time pass, maybe like three years or so. She never stopped thinking about SWK, and tried to find way to get back but couldn't. maybe the portal got severed idk. and then something something happens (which I will need to think about), where one day the ring on her finger felt warm and she was able to return to Mount Huaguo, landing where the birthstone stood on the mountain.
I think like 100 years passed in that world, where SWK never stopped visiting the birthstone place, where Oz also went back to her world.
Here is a comic I made of their sweet sweet reunion:
She's wearing a fancy red dress because she was attending some fancy event before she was able to return to SWK. But also traditionally the bride and groom wore red in a Chinese wedding, so her wearing the red dress when she is reunited with SWK after all those years is a symbol for that they are finally able to be together and live their happily ever after. it's also symbolism for Oz.
Before that, depsite SWK confession and basically proposal, she has a bit of commitment / abandoment issues from her parents divorce, so yknow they didn't get married before that. but it is very clear to anyone that they both loved each other.
so yeah. Sorry for the long post LOL i get super excited talking about my problem children. there is angst and implication that Oz will be gone but ultimately it ends on a happy note.
#szynkART#fade to black#show the names#play that happy song#came with all of this the moment I saw the ask in my inbox and my brain was like DRAW HER IN A RED DRESS FOR THE REUNION#sometimes I feel very self-absorbed for talking about my ship so much LOL#also long hair Oz#black myth wukong#cepheus baskerville#black myth wukong oc#sun wukong x oc#sun wukong x reader

The Witches of Oz
Iâm still not over how good this episode was and I wonât be able to pick my favourite part but thereâs one thing I want to give a quick mention to before whatever pride flag surprise song dress and devastating mashup takes my focus for the weekend.
Agatha and Lilia were dressed as Glinda and Elphaba, the witches from the wizard of Oz. And I canât help but notice the glaring parallels between their characters in this episode. Lilia being the main protagonist this episode and key to solving the task does so by matching each member of the coven to a tarot card, then proceeds to give them advice before they part ways just like Glinda did for Dorothy and her friends. She gives Billy his spell book back like the scarecrow got a brain. She brings out Jenâs ability to care for others over herself and calls her the path forward, like the tin man got a heart. She matched Alice to the noble fighter, the lion who turned brave in pursuit of friendship. And she tells Agatha what to do âwhen she calls you a cowardâ like Glinda told Dorothy to click her heels together to get home. All of which Iâm sure will make sense in hindsight, just like Liliaâs other predictions did.
And Agatha is Elphaba. She even says
Itâs easy to see how the original wicked witch of the West could be based on Agatha as the classic meanie. But on a deeper level, the story of Wicked tells us the backstory that Elphaba was actually not wicked at all, just misunderstood. One of her songs in the musical even tells us that she only gave in to being the villain because âNo good deed goes unpunishedâ. She tried to help, tried to be good, but people just wanted her to be evil. Sounds a lot like Agatha.
(And not to read too much into it, but Elphaba ends up faking her own death to run off with her lover đ)

One afternoon, when Louis and Dayton were hanging out together in Louis's room, they could barely focus on their games, with the ruckus happening in the room next door. Curious about what was happening, the two of them sneaked down the hallway, where they found the girls' door wide open.
Inside, there was a chest surrounded by all kinds of clothing items, with the girls stood next to it. They were wearing funny hats and dresses to make them look like princesses, and had even attempted putting on their mother's makeup for a more convincing look. However, there was not playing going on. Instead, Ruby and Dorothy were arguing about which of them would be the princess in their game, as apparently there was only room for one. Of course, it could not be a proper fairy tale without the evil stepsister.
Dorothy insisted that she would get to be the princess, since she was the first to say so, but Ruby hated the idea of even just pretending to be evil. Louis knew it was time for him to step in as a big brother and figure out a way to diffuse the argument. Otherwise, they would never actually end up playing their game. He looked around the room, until his eyes rested on the costume chest.
There were more than enough costumes and accessories for all of them to dress up, which meant that the girls could easily both be a princess in this case. Louis would just have to be the stepsister in this case, the answer seemed pretty obvious to him.
The twins jumped excitedly at the idea that they would get to dress up their brother, and the two girls got to work on it quickly. Soon, Louis was sat on the chest in a barely fitting baby blue dress and a matching bonnet, while Dorothy painted his face with lots and lots of makeup. He actually did not mind it, in fact, he almost felt pretty, although he knew his sister was not the most skilled at what she was doing.
Even Dayton, who had simply thrown on a scarf as a makeshift cape and a paper crown, had to admit that the outcome was quite convincing. Had he not known any better, he could have thought Louis was a lost third McGregor sister. Speaking of whom, Dayton put on his smoothest prince voice to flatter the twin girls as best as he could. If he was going to be their prince, he was going to try his best at it, too.
With no music player in the room, the four children made up their own ballroom songs, as they danced around laughing. Dayton even took upon the role of announcing the next dance that would be coming up each time, while the other three came up with songs matching the increasingly absurd themes.
They kept playing for a while, until all of them were too tired to continue, and Dayton had to go home. All arguments were soon forgotten about, but it sure was a princess ball to remember.
[TRANSCRIPT]
Dorothy: "No, we can't both be the princess!"
Dayton: "Sounds like they're in a bit of a pickle, eh?"
Louis: "Let's see what's going on!"
Dorothy: "One of us has to be the evil stepsister!"
Ruby: "But I don't want to be evil, Dottie."
Dorothy: "Well, I chose first!"
*Louis clears throat*
Louis: "Hey, girls! What's the issue?"
Dorothy: "We're playing fairy tale princess ball. But stupid Ruby doesn't wanna be the evil stepsister!"
Dayton: "What's with the bear?"
Dorothy: "Why, that's the beautiful prince, of course!"
Dayton: "Naturally."
Louis: "Hmmm... Maybe I have an idea how we can fix this."
...
Louis: "Are you finished?"
Dorothy: "Hush, art cannot be rushed."
Dorothy: "Aaaand... done!"
Louis: "So? How do I look?"
Dorothy: "You look lovely!"
Dayton: "More like you're ready to meet the wonderful wizard of Oz!"
Louis: "Is it bad?"
Dayton: "I don't know. Dorothy's pretty, too, no? You could make a pretty girl. You know, if your dress actually fit."
Louis: "Oh, thank you, your maaaajesty!"
Dayton: *flutters eyelashes* "Of course, not as pretty as the beautiful princesses I'm meant to meet tonight at the royal ball!"
Ruby & Dorothy: *giggling*
...
*singing incoherently*

Fatherhood: Billy Hargrove
Stranger Things Masterlist
Billy met you when he moved back to California after graduating high school and turning 18. He got a job working at an autobody shop. He watched you pull up in a baby blue 1969 Bronco; he was the first one to come up to ask you what kind of help you needed. You thought he was cute and hoped to run into him again.
While driving home after work, he noticed that same Bronco in the parking lot of the local grocery store. He didnât want to seem like a stalker, but seeing you twice in one day felt like a sign.
He was right to ârun into youâ at the grocery store- you asked him if he wanted to hang out that weekend, and the rest was history.Â
Your relationship moved âquickly,â saying âI love youâ after a couple of months, moving in together at six months, and engaged within a year of knowing one another. Your friends thought you were insane, and so did your parents- until they saw just how happy Billy made you.
After a small wedding on the beach, the two of you enjoyed a few years of married bliss before deciding to start your family. You wanted âlike a millionâ kids. Billy wanted to make you happy but couldnât suppress his fears of being like his father. âBilly, youâre nothing like him- youâre different, love.â as much as you tried to reassure him, it could only do so much.
You wanted to tell Billy you were pregnant in some cute way, but he beat you to it when he was emptying the bathroom trash, âHoly shit.â he muttered under his breath before going back inside the house to ask you if it was true. When you nodded, he hugged you tightly and promised to be the man you saw him as.
Watching your body change throughout your pregnancy made Billy feral. Knowing you were having his baby- it just did something to him. Heâd rub your feet and hands at the end of the day to help alleviate swelling pains. Heâd help you rub cocoa butter on your bump to help with stretch marks. He went to every appointment and listened as you summarized parenting books to him.Â
When the two of you found out you were having a boy- Billy tried not to think about the pain Neil had put him through; he would be the father heâd wished for as a kid.
Joseph Anothy Hargrove, 8lbs 14 oz, 19 inches, was born August 15, 1991. Billy was in love the second he laid his eyes on the infant; he had your eyes- how could he not fall in love with those eyes all over again?
In the early months of Josephâs life, Billy felt useless. He tried his best to help and became inactive as Joseph got older and slightly less dependent on you. His favorite time of day was the early mornings heâd spend with Joseph; youâd be asleep in your shared bedroom. Billy would sit in the rocking chair in the corner and hold Joseph against his bare chest, âI got you, baby. Daddyâs always gonna be there.âÂ
Billy kept that promise. Whenever his son needed him, he was there. He coached Little League basketball and even took a turn being the leader of his Boy Scout group.Â
Both of you taught him how cars worked- although youâd sneak away after a few minutes to give the boys their bonding time, you loved how Billy relaxed when he was with Joseph.
Billy had broken the cycle.

What is your opinion on the Beetlejuice 2 Dream Theory?
This theory?
My opinion is that it's very likely to be true. I walked away from the cinema extremely happy with all of the shippy momentsâso happy I hadn't even considered theorising anything yet, however my first thought about the ending was, So it was all Lydia's dream?
I read through the post and was blown away by how much sense it made, but I think it helped push me to believe it when my friend sent me this
My friend is not interested in theorising or shipping, and has no connection to the BJ fandom, he's just a horror fan. Yet his interpretation of the movie's ending was a summarised version of the whole dream theory. Isn't it far more romantic to imagine Lydia having spent her life with Betelgeuse, and he's indulging her with a dream of her own child? Considering they both have a 'psychic connection', I'm not convinced that Lydia hasn't been thinking about BJ just as much as he's been thinking about her.
This user pointed out both of Betelgeuse's love songs are by artists named Richard, conveniently the name of Lydia's previous partner. The same partner who was described as a horror fan that loved playing pranks, and dressed as a Beetlejuice lookalike for Halloween.
Looks like Beetlejuice, acts like Beetlejuiceâeither Lydia is equally obsessed, or it's BJ projecting himself onto Lydia's human lover within the dream. Watching the movie with new eyes, I noticed in the "Later, fucker" scene that BJ is sitting in the same place Richard sat while working at the border control. "Astrid" herself has a name related to the celestial bodies, much like "Betelgeuse". You can either take this as a romantic parallel, or Tim is trying to show us that Richard's creation is based on Lydia's fixation with Beetlejuice.
Dream sequences often use characters to represent something within the dreamer's psyche. It's like an abstract analysis of the way that character thinks and feels. Astrid's sequence within the dream shows Lydia's material desiresâit confirms everything was based off of what Lydia wanted, which included getting married to a 'monster' (in the sequence of events, Astrid marries a guy dressed as a vampire), and then gives birth to the Beetlebaby. I know in the first movie there is a reference to the horror movie "The Fly", so I imagine this was too.
Did anyone notice the dream sequence watching Astrid didn't actually have a clear indication for when it began? It transitioned from the movie as if everything was a dream right from the start.
Let's not forget BJ straight up looking into the camera and saying "I love a good dream sequence". Lol.
My other reasoning for believing the dream theory is what Winona said about Lydia. Winona and Tim are close friends. Winona pitched the idea of having Betelgeuse and Lydia be the endgame ship in her words, and she happily took part in this movie. If Tim had rejected the idea, why would Winona reprise her role for a story she didn't agree with? Winona knows that Lydia is Tim's self insert (Tim has said many times he relates the most to Lydia), so why would Tim approve of all the shippy moments if he opposed Winona's pitch? No one knows Lydia like him!
Winona said in this interview that she hadn't imagined Lydia ever becoming a mother, but that after a while it started to make sense. She does not elaborate on that, but explains her idea for Lydia was that she would end up a spinster in the attic. If you read the dream theory, it highlights how the movie begins with Lydia in the attic, and then transitions to Lydia's TV show, but the background is still the attic. I found the whole film very dreamlike in this way, and I think the fact that Tim has said Wizard of Oz (a movie where the girl wakes up after a dream, in which those she knew acted as characters within the sequence) is one of his favourite movies helps to put it into effect.
And finally...
It's Lydia Deetz. Lydia loves the strange and unusual.. do you really think she wasn't curious enough to contact Beej again?
#beetlebabes#beetlejuice 2#beetlejuice beetlejuice#please read the full theory though đ#i only touched the surface#asks#theories

what happens when jaune finally gets to the ever after, does he magicaly split from juniper, does stay hybrid until he ascends by the tree or does it take for the finale and using alyx dagger to finally have him regain his human form ?
also what would be ren and nora, pyrha and arc family reactions of having lost jaune second time in the fall of atlasonly to came back again in vacuo but looking human again ?
Iâm still trying to decide whether he gets âfixedâ when heâs given Alyxâs knife
It would symbolize that his job as the Rusted Knight is done, that he can finally move on from that burden. And I think the Blacksmith would want to return him to his human form, since she did this to him in the first place and he didnât have a choice in the matter. Especially since having a choice in who you are is sort of her whole thing
I think she would probably leave the choice up to him then. The knife restores Jaune to how he SHOULD be, it gives him his life back, thatâs why he got his youth back in canon. He never really grew and changed, so it gave him a chance to do so
But if the knife makes Jaune how he SHOULD be, then after so much time as Jauniper, I donât know if he would choose to be Jaune again. Itâs like Yang with her arm, thatâs the new normal.
Iâve been thinking about it since I made this AU, and I still havenât come to a decision one way or the other
As for how NPR (haha NPR, National Public Radio) and the Arcs react, theyâre shattered. They just got Jaune back, different, changed, MORE than he was, and now heâs gone again
Pyrrha keeps waking up and going into the desert expecting to find him lost there like he was in the forest. Innocent, scared, feral. Covered in sand and scars but ALIVE. She gets kind of obsessive about checking every day to see if heâs hiding outside the walls, too scared to approach them like in Mistral
Ren keeps thinking about the emotions he saw Jaune feeling in the whale. No fear, even knowing that Salem was hunting him for answers he didnât have. Even beaten half to hell, he wasnât scared, because he knew that his friends would come for him. And now heâs dead. Was he scared then, when they didnât come back for him?
Nora keeps thinking about how if she couldâve just made it back through the portal, then this never wouldâve happened. She wasnât strong enough to go to the tower, and Jaune died. But then he came back, stronger, different. She got a second chance. And then she wasnât strong enough to go through the portal, and Jaune died again
Oscar (because heâs part of this family too) keeps wondering if this was how Jaune felt when he woke up in the forest, alone, changed, scared. Heâs merging with Oz, he canât tell where he begins and ends anymore. Could Jaune tell where the beast began and the human ended? Jaune came back before, and Oscar knows that âheâ will as well, so he canât help hoping that his brother will come back

I think itâs interesting, considering how most live-action superhero adaptations kill off the villains after their debut, that both The Batman and The Penguin end with the villains not just living, but set up to return and somehow cause Even Bigger Problems down the line. Is this just because itâs the first Batman film adaptation thatâs a capital-F Franchise, so the writers need the villains to stick around long-term, or is something else going on?
Almost entirely comes down to the fact that The Batman was not meant to be Batman's origin story - by Reeves' own admission, it was the origin story of the Rogues Gallery. They got the Cloverfield and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes guy and he did a story about the boots-on-the-ground gritty perspective on larger-than-life terrors emerging from the ruins and failings of human civilization, taking the struggles and wars and laborious processes that others shy away from and putting them front in center. It's just this time, instead of kaijus and parasites attacking and destroying the city, instead of apes emerging as the Mad Max warlords rising from the ashes to fight over the world, we have Batman villains in that role instead.
To me, that was actually the conception - if we weren't going to do a Batman origin story, but we were going to do it in the early years, I thought well, in the comics, the rogues gallery characters often are creating their alter egos in response to the fact that a masked vigilante shows up in Gotham called the Batman.
And so I thought, oh well, what we could do is see all of the rogue's gallery characters in their origins, like Selina Kyle before she's Catwoman, and that we could go into, as we're looking for a suspect, we could go to a nightclub, a nightclub could be the Iceberg Lounge and we could see a pre-kingpin Oz, and we could see, you know, a Riddler who is declaring himself the Riddler sort of because there's a Batman. And so all of that was sort of built into the conception. - Matt Reeves
It's far from the first Batman film adaptation to be a capital-F Franchise, even if that aspect was there - Reeves initially pitched the movie as an HBO series, and throughout production pitched additional show ideas such as an Arkham show or a Gotham PD show, The Penguin being the only one that survived as far as we know. This pulls off an origin from the Rogues Gallery better than every other Batman media ever made, and there's a couple of reasons why it does so and why the villains get to take center stage here:
Part of the difference between the way Nolan tackled realistic Batman, and the way Reeves tackles realistic Batman, is that Nolan needs realism to explain Batman, and Reeves needs realism entirely in the service of making Batman weirder. Pattison Batman is the weirdest Bruce ever put on film almost entirely because he lives in our world while still being Batman in every way that counts - Keaton Bats slept upside down in a cave, but he lived in a Tim Burton world. Adam West Bats is weird, but everybody is like that or even weirder than he is, he is the comedic straightman to everyone else. And where as Nolan needs Batman to be the thing that makes sense, Reeves needs Batman to be the thing that doesnât make sense.
Nolan wanted weird difficult irreducible villains opposite a logical pragmatically sensible Batman, and Reeves wants exactly the opposite. For Nolan, even besides the Joker who was defined entirely around the lack of a real explanation for him, you have his take on Two-Face, Bane, the Al Ghuls, characters that don't demand that much reasoning or explanation because they can act and exist in ways that defy logic, while Batman's the guy who has to hold the center of logic and reason. Where as here, Pattison Batman is the most interesting and complicated and larger-than-life figure this world is dealing with in much the same way that Ledger Joker was for his movie, and everyone else is in the position of starting out and having to deal with Batman and the paradigm shift he brings - nobody else in the movie is quite the character they were supposed to be, that's something they're all growing into in response to their nightmare city and what this titanic freak in armor represents to them.
Even The Riddler is ultimately explainable, human, reducible to his tantrums and vulnerabilities, even without you knowing in-depth his character and backstory that would be elaborated for Dano's Year One. Even The Penguin - he may be larger-than-life, he may be unexplainable on some level, but we know all too well all of his failings and feelings and life story and all the cracks in his persona that he killed Victor to try and bury. But Batman? Next to everyone else, he is still an anomaly, he is just Like That, even to his own detriment and that of the city, and he learns that he must apply being Like That to something better.
Reeves is not interested in doing "Batman vs [X]" movies, the movies are going to be focused on Batman's arc first and foremost, which means the villains will never really take them over the way they've usually done - this is a world where it's the villains who react to Batman, not the other way around. This frees them from the burden of having to exist in direct relation to how much they can directly menace Batman, and it makes it so that these are characters that can carry their own spin-offs, which is probably a lot easier for WB to work with because these are spin-offs that they don't really have to get Pattison to show up for, but they can construct in ways that don't even need Batman to be physically there. Even after The Penguin, they might not have to do that Smallville/Gotham song-and-dance of teasing a main character who'll never get to be here, there are a lot of other things happening in Reeves' Gotham besides the existence of Batman, even if the existence of Batman has changed all of them. So structurally speaking this series has a ton of room for reocurring villains, and building it has been one of their top priorities. In fact, this ONLY gets to do so because the movie already laid out the entire groundwork for them and how it all ties together.
See, the way Batman stories do the rise of a Rogues Gallery and how it affects the city and therefore Batman always follows a sort of a 7-step program:
Gotham City is ruled by crime, crime that takes away the Waynes (Falcone / Carl Grissom (89) / Falcone backed by the League (Nolan) / the Falcone-Hill-Wayne triumvirate (Telltale) / Gotham S1 and first-half of S2)
Crime begats Batman, who beats Crime
Crime + Batman = Weird Crime (Jack Napier becomes Joker after an encounter with Batman (89) / "we still haven't picked up Crane and those other Arkham inmates btw check out this weird card" (Nolan) / Black Mask and the international assassins + Joker's rise (Arkham) / Children of Arkham (Telltale) / the Indian Hill experiments and patients (Gotham)
Weird Crime Replaces Crime (The Long Halloween / Joker takes over the mob (89) / the mob is so impressed by the pencil trick they give Joker all the money (Nolan) / Joker literally replaces Black Mask in the process of becoming Batman's main enemy (Arkham) / Penguin assassinates Mayor Hill and the Children enter a war with Mayor Dent (Telltale) / Indian Hill breakout and Maniax cult and etc (Gotham)
Weird Crime is a Rogues Gallery now (Penguin and Catwoman and Max Shreck in the sequel (Burton) / Joker and Two-Face become separate problems, Bane + Talia + Crane + Catwoman in the sequel (Nolan) / after Origins a whole asylum full of them (Arkham) / Riddler + The Pact and John becoming Joker proper (Telltale) / Gotham S3 with Tetch and Riddler and the Legion of Horribles
The city is changed by the new paradigm
Batman responds / expands or retracts in response to this change
(4 and 5 don't necessarily always happen one before the other, mind you, frequently you do have a Weird Crime Rogues Gallery before Weird Crime replaces Crime at the head of the table)
And you can apply this to most other Batman stories that don't automatically start and stay at level 5. But where as all of these have to stretch the process across sequels and continuations, The Batman is the first Batman work that gets to do all 7 of them in one row. It gets 1 and 2 done offscreen before the opening act and shown to us how they happened throughout the movie's reveals, 3-4-5-6 comprise the Riddler's plot + the other United Underworld members roped into it, and it ends with 7. Even the Batmanless spin-offs follow the process: The Riddler: Year One covers Eddie's perspective on 1-2 as he enters stage 3 and prepares it for the movie, and The Penguin covers 4-5-6, leaving us waiting for Bruce's response back to stage 7 where The Batman ended.
And up until The Batman, the process behind the creation of a Rogues Gallery had never really been much of a process - comics that go into the transition like Long Halloween/Dark Victory just show the fall of Carmine Falcone -> the freaks waiting in the wings causing it or happening immediately after. Gotham tries to work that escalation gradually and it starts relatively "normal", but it's always dancing around the premise and the central black hole and the building blocks don't have anything to do with each other - the gang wars and Penguin have nothing to do with Bruce investigating a conspiracy, which has little to do with Gordon and Bullock investigating weird serial killers who keep escalating, and then eventually we get that Hugo Strange was building freaks in his basement at the orders of the Court/Ra's the whole time until they all just escape. You can piece together how Batman works that aren't about this transition ultimately touch on most of those 7 stages and have their own version of it as soon as they introduce Gotham City in a pre-Batman/pre-villain state, but the connections are always rather tenuous and not necessarily connected to each other (and it's fine, y'know, not everything in a story always has to come from the same source).
But everything in The Batman follows a long chain of dominos that had to happen for this system to become the way it needs to be for Batman villains to emerge. Everything started in that one night Thomas Waynes saved Carmine Falcone, everything started from that ensuing connection and Thomas' failures leading to a city ruled by mobsters for 20 years and the sheer level of rot and corruption and human misery that creates and justifies the existence of Batman, and thus The Riddler in his example. Everything we get in The Penguin is the result of this paradigm shift and total civic collapse, showing the destruction of Carmine's empire as well as his legacies torched and mutated by Sofia and Oz respectively. Everything is still connected. The United Underworld guys featured in the movie live and dwell in entirely separate spaces and represent entirely different things, and they're still all connected in the same chain of dominoes, which allows them to expand and cover entirely separate narrative real estate while still giving it all cohesion.
The movie never has to specifically establish a system full of supervillains or made for them, it has to establish a system so utterly fucked and dominated by Falcone, so utterly failed by every institution and body of government and system imaginable, that it creates Batman, and the minute Batman arrives and survives long enough to be a third power / a fifth state, people in his wake trying to respond to him or do the same things he does, as a response to the same afflictions he faced and to his example or influence, are the only logical thing. Without needing to literally show the other rogues waiting in the wings, The Batman established an entire world of possibility just by very smartly using the 4 big ones + Carmine and showing why and how this regular American city becomes a place where supervillains bombing city blocks and running for political office can become a facet of daily life. Joker, Penguin, Catwoman and Riddler - positioned as separate from each other as possible to show the ways in which this is, and maybe always has been, spreading fast out of Batman's control.
And now with The Penguin, reinforcing the chokehold of crime in the city in it's old ways as well as the corrupt mutated new ones brought on by our boy, as well as a new Batman Villain (possibly two, if Eve Karlo ever gets her hands on suspicious make-up) arriving from Penguin's side of things so that it's not just Batman who has a Rogues Gallery to deal with, not just Batman who has terrific enemies waiting in the wings for a chance to enact their own forms of justice and revenge, no, that's just what life is like in Gotham now, forever.
