D&D 5.5 Rogue tweaks
[5.5, 5.75, 5.24, OneD&D, 2024 D&D, ugh, I don't care]
Rogue
In the base class, honestly everything's GREAT except stealth rules and damage output. So all I got to add is:
See Invisibility, Trueslight and similar don't let you see creatures that used the hide action successfully
Pending a more comprehensive stealth fix, because dear god these rules suck, and also I won't be sure how they even work until the DMG comes out.
Sneak Attack 1/turn/target
Extra Attack at lvl 5
My old 5e houserule. This may seem too much (with the Nick Weapon Mastery you can have 3 melee attacks/attack action at lvl 5) but remember that it's a much bigger hassle to set up sneak attack for multiple targets (stealth and Steady Aim will only cover one attack), Cunning Strike sacrifices sneak attack dice lowering dmg, and often you'll simply run out of targets. So you won't actually be dealing 3 x sneak attack dmg every round. Also remember that other martials got boosted even more and deal quite a lot of dmg. Needs playtesting, but I'm confident it's gonna be fine, and if it's not, I'll just roll back the extra attack.
Cunning Strike includes Disarm, like in the playtest
Come to think of it, shouldn't that be a Weapon Mastery? Do you think books down the line will introduce alternate weapon masteries, like, rapiers normally get Vex, but alternatively you can pick Disarm or whatever? Cause we can beat them to the punch and homebrew that right now!
Arcane Trickster
you can cast Mage Hand without verbal components
you can cast without verbal components [Proficiency Bonus] times / long rest
Self-explanatory. Sorcerers are the masters of metamagic, but conceptually this subclass needs Subtle Spell.
Mage Hand can be used to pick locks and disarm traps
No idea why they removed this ability, and limited Mage Hand to Sleight of Hand, but that's just silly and we're bringing it back.
you can use scrolls of the spells you know
Just clarifying a little thing here – an unfortunate wording appears to prevent Arcane Tricksters and Eldritch Knights from doing that by RAW, because they choose "Wizard" spells, and you can only use scrolls of your "class's spell list".
Assassin
the extra damage from Surprising Strikes is now twice your Rogue level, and applies only on the first sneak attack that hits in the first round
Assassinate, famously, used to let you crit surprised targets. Surprise rules changed, and now we get instead advantage on initiative (new and cool), advantage vs creatures that haven't acted yet on the first round of combat (as before), and Surprising Strikes: if you sneak attack on the first round, add +rogue lvl to damage. (so like, +3 at lvl 3 and +20 at lvl 20). Although much more reliable, this flat bonus is really underwhelming, and doubling it gets it on par with a crit. I feel that's appropriate. What's the point of being an Assassin if you don't wreck someone once per combat? It's your job!
As for the crit, I will miss it because it was HEAPS of fun, but I'll admit that for multiclass martials the "Assassin 3" dip was simply too good, and anything that's too good is bad design.
And I added the "only on the first sneak attack" clause due to my 1st houserule: now rogues can potentially sneak attack more times per round, and we only want to go nova once.
Soulknife
Psychic Blades can now be used outside your turn
Opportunity Attacks are finally feasible with psychic blades in 5.5, but for example a Commander's Strike from your Fighter buddy gives you an attack as a reaction, not called an Opportunity Attack, so it wouldn't apply. And it's a pointless restriction.
Thief
is perfect 10/10 no notes

DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH QUOTE 2
Wednesday, July 3, 2024
“I’ve met so many parents of the kids who are on the low end of the autism spectrum, kids who are diametrically opposed to Jacob, with his Asperger’s. They tell me I’m lucky to have a son who’s verbal, who is blisteringly intelligent, who can take apart the broken microwave and have it working again an hour later. They think there is no greater hell than having a son who is locked in his own world, unaware that there’s a wider one to explore. But try having a son who is locked in his own world and still wants to make a connection. A son who tries to be like everyone else but truly doesn’t know how.” – Jodi Picoult, House Rules

The Sigil 6's Bingo Board
When we started using the Bingo XP Variant, in the Sigil 6 Campaign, I didn’t realize that by keeping the squares on our jamboard (a moment of silence for jamboard, google reader and google plus…) that we’d have a series of signposts showing our hopes, fears, accomplishments and dreams for the campaign. I didn’t anticipate that this would be a fun artifact that would remind me of fun times had…

#uno #mattel #copag #houserules #regrasdacasa #faq #dúvida #erros #jogosdetabuleiro #boardgames #brettspiel https://www.instagram.com/p/Cop1mvdO1Fd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

FAQs
The LGO publishes between dozens of decision notices every week. Why don't you summarise them all?
Time and resources. This blog is maintained by a very small team of volunteers working in their spare time. We have to be selective. Generally we choose cases that:
Are unusual.
Are interesting.
Illustrate a wider point about local government or the complaints process.
I believe there is a mistake in your report. What can I do?
First, we need to be very clear: Is the mistake in our summary of the LGO report, or the LGO report itself? Please read the LGO report (we will always include a link with our summary) to establish which is the case. If it is our mistake, tell us. Our DMs are open. If it is the LGO's mistake, we are of course interested to know, but also tell the LGO. You can contact it using its "contact us" page: www.lgo.org.uk/contact-us
I have seen a report (or know of one that is coming soon) that I think you should cover. Will you?
We don't do requests. If we start doing requests we'll eventually be inundated, and we don't have the capacity to deal with that. However, if a story is important to you we do want it to be covered. We recommend you contact your local newspaper publisher in the first instance. Contact information can be found here: media.info/uk/newspapers
Some of your cases are not about LGO investigations.
Yes. While this blog is primarily about LGO decisions, we will also include some from the ICO as well. These are cases involving the alleged misuse or mishandling of information, or alleged failure to adequately respond to requests for information. Everything we have said in this FAQs post about the LGO applies equally to the ICO as well. You can read about ICO decision notices, enforcement action and reports at www.ico.org.uk/action-weve-taken/ The ICO's contact details can be found here: www.ico.org.uk/global/contact-us/

From the Introduction:
If you like to get Critical Hits on your big Sneak Attacks but don’t like the idea of Crit Fishing, perhaps the Assassin is the Rogue for you. You’ve probably already looked at the Assassinate feature and want to capitalize on those guaranteed Critical Hits, but guaranteed is not the same as free. You’ll have to work with your party to Surprise your foes in order to earn those Critical Hits. Surprised is a simple condition that is much harder to achieve than you might think. If your whole party’s Stealth checks beat the Passive Perception of a foe, that foe is Surprised. Yes, even that Paladin waddling around in plate armor. If a foe detects even one of your allies, that foe is not Surprised. That’s the official definition for how Surprise works in Dungeons and Dragons 5e. We went into extreme detail on this in the Stealth episode which also proposes some fixes if you want too. Things get murky when we consider why the Assassin also has a pair of features designed around Deception and Infiltration. The rules of Surprise only mention Stealth and Perception, but we could (and do) argue that Deception versus Insight should also be a valid method of imposing Surprised on a target. That stompy Paladin from earlier certainly has enough Charisma to lie through their teeth.
This is one of those cases where you've been using a houserule for so long and it's so intuitive and it works so well, that you forget it's a houserule. YES, if you're having a friendly conversation and everyone's relaxed and there's zero cause for suspicion, and suddenly a blade gets drawn out of the blue, surprise may be in effect! It makes perfect sense. You're surpised when you don't "notice a threat", right? Well, noticing a threat takes more than perception, you also use your mind to assess if what you see is a threat.
We're kinda loose with it, and in some cases there's no roll at all. DM discretion basically: if they know the NPC is the sort of person who'd suspect nothing in a given situation, there's no need to bog down gameplay. Other times it's Deception vs. Insight. But the way we play it, only those who are actively deceiving (pretending they're harmless while fully intending to attack) need to roll. (See, the Rogue tends to surprise the party's Paladin almost as much as they surprise everyone else.) And of course, only they get to attack on the first round.
I think getting everyone in the party to be stealthy, or conniving for that matter, very much depends on the group, and might get in the way of roleplaying. Like, if someone wants to play a character who simply doesn't like to be stealthy and conniving, pushing them to do so all the time because it would give a mechanical benefit is a terrible idea, I think. In these cases, I'd rather group the shifty people together and have them scout ahead or stray sideways or something. And I'd leave the group stealth/group deception for situations where it's really called for, really important, and justifies putting people out of their comfort zone for a second.

I might NOT try Starfield this weekend?
Like, I'm going to rest, don't worry, and I'll play it eventually, but I recently revised my house rules for Skyrim leveling, and it's quite possibly the best way to play the game ever.
I'll rant about the specifics later, but I added pickpocket, lockpicking, and speech to the "start at 100" along with smithing, enchanting, and alchemy, reduced ALL other skills to starting at 1, banned training, added fortify crafting restrictions that get removed MUCH later (you start with them at 100, they're ALREADY boosted), adjusted when you're Apprentice, Adept, Expert, and Master by 1 level (making it so they're all divisible by 12), AND made it so you have to be level 5 before taking ANY perks.
...Actually, that's most of it, but I'll rant in an ORGANIZED, full details option later :P

Today in my D&D Pokemon game...
The DM threw three tyrannosaurs at our level 9 party.
I mean, it was fine. We have CR 8 pokemon, plus our own abilities. So we caught a few tyrannosaurs.
Which I then claimed one of and applied a couple templates to so that I could have a fiery undead tyrannosaurus rex.
I call it Pyrranosarkhus--
#dungeons & dragons#dungeons and dragons#d&d#fantasy#dnd#rpgs#Pokemon#We're using 3.5 with houserules#Basically people have normal class levels and an alt class feature that gives them “Train Pokemon” feature from a homebrew Pokemaster class#One of the abilities of Train Pokemon is “apply a template to your pokemon”#So I gave it a CR 0 Ghoul template and then Ashbound Fallen which gives an undead fire stuff#Oh the Pyrannosarkhus has a feat that gives it barbarian class features for its HD so it can also rage. Because of course it can#tyrannosaurus rex#Dinosaurs#Not scientifically accurate dinosaurs

My new DND houserule
If your Druid, Ranger or Paladin presents you with a WWF certificate of adoption (in your name or their own), they can summon it or wildshape into it. Even if they dont have the level, or their druid has never been to the correct biome. Heck dont even have to be a class capable of summoning, your Zealot barbarian wants to get the benefits of Bear Totem? Save me a polarbear and you get it free of charge!
