❗ IMPORTANT, PLS READ❗
Hello everyone, I hope everything is okay with y'all 💗
As I had formerly announced, the 3rd chapter of STOE is coming out on February 3rd but after its release, I will be going on a hiatus of undetermined duration
Don't worry! It won't be a total hiatus, I will keep updating my main blog along with this one, I will just be making a pause on Sould Train for I am going thru some thingies
It's not anything bad or serious, I am just struggling with creativity to the point I'm getting insomniac and I also decided that I need to focus on school stuff as well. Yeah, guys, school is not all fun and games lol 😅 Anyway, I hope y'all understand and don't be alarmed, I will keep posting stuff and polls probably here in the community, and will keep posting in my blogs
Sid, Bonnie, Edmond, Dimitri and [ ] will have to wait but once they come back it's gonna get crazy™
Love you all 💗✨ and thanks for everything
Xoxo,
-- Nero Fruity / Feever Dimland 🦋🦋🦋

The Sexy Brutale (2017)
Tumblr media
The Sexy Brutale — a never-ending masked ball featuring intrigue, murder and the (quite possibly) occult! Relive the same mysterious day where the guests at the casino mansion are being murdered by the staff over and over again.
Developer: Cavalier Games/ Tequila Works
Platforms: PS4, XBox, Windows, Switch. (I played it on a Steam deck.)
Score: 6.5/10
It’s not really a horror game. More a mystery with horror elements. But it nails the metaphor heavy, aesthetically interesting beats of horror so I’m throwing it on this blog.
I came here for a fun masquerade ball murder mystery puzzle game and instead I got a game about the complicated emotions of guilt and shame that went SO HARD in the final act. Goddamn.
The art style isn’t what I normally go for and the puzzles can get a little tedious, but it’s a lovely little short game (I beat it in like 6 hours because I was fucking around and looking at stuff) and the plot SLAPS.
If you know me, and you’ve played this, you’re gonna know why I’m into it. It’s got time travel, it’s got futility, it’s got religious symbolism, it’s got a skinless woman that gives you magical powers. It’s kind of my jam.

batman has gotta be one of my favorite heroes only because he’ll go through the most borderline traumatic series of events possible where he may or may not have proved an afterlife existed just to drive away in his stupid fucking batcar with his stupid fucking bat ears peeking out

sick of this anti-aging obsession. let's go in the opposite direction. i want more characters who are hardened & grizzled & have a face lined with the harrowing tribulations of time--and then halfway through the narrative u find out they're 27

“Geoffrey Rush was never meant to look like Vincent Price (star of the original film House on Haunted Hill (1959)). The original screenplay described Stephen Price as a regular looking businessman. Rush didn’t care for this, so he suggested that his character look like the film director John Waters. The director agreed to test this look out. After his transformation, he ended up looking so much like Vincent Price the director decided to keep the look.”

Skinamarink (2022)
Tumblr media
Two children wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing, and all the windows and doors in their home have vanished.
Director/Writer: Kyle Edward Ball (Director/Writer)
Production House: BayView, ERO, IFC Midnight
Runtime: 1h 40m
Where to watch: Hulu, Shudder
Rating: 4/10
I wanted so badly to like this one.
HEAR ME OUT.
This is very much an Art House movie. It requires an amount of patience much, much higher than most other entries on this list. For me personally, it wasn't until the 30-45 minute mark that it started to grab me, and even then it couldn't really hold me. I think it might be better served by researching the movie and director prior, unlike other horror movies where going in blind is often best.
I can see what it's going for. I can see the metaphors for abuse and trauma sprinkled throughout. They establish creeping dread very well. The viewer becomes paranoid and waiting for a hammer that drops only on occasion.
They do some fun things with light and color, though I will say the grainy cam filter started to hurt my eyes after a bit. And watching without headphones meant that the sound mixing left a lot to be desired. This movie is... so, so quiet.
I would not recommend this movie for the casual horror enjoyer, or someone looking for a spooky movie. It's in the Marble Hornets vein of storytelling and you need to look for details, wait for payoffs, etc. It's a movie to watch if you're looking for something to mess with your brain a little. Make you feel dread and discomfort.
If you're looking for subtle horror, this is it.
