I always save my WIPs to my drafts on here at least the ones I plan to actually post lol this way i can look over the art to see how the colors look on a different screen,,,, and just to look over other details to see how they look on a smaller screen,,,, looking at it with fresh eyes can help to know what i need to fix or details I forgot,,, just a dif perspective helps alot,,,, and like I can add notes of thing to change on the post so i dont forget by the time i get back to my laptop and draw,,,
But it's been really helpful with like the pride art I'm doing, I spent most yesterday night messing around with the colors/patterns of Chops fit, I was hating it so much cause I was working on it for so long basically 80% of what I did,,,,, just said fuck it I'll work on it later and put it to the drafts,,,,,, now looking at it, it looks fine? 😭 a couple changes/tweaks I wanna try, but it looks good enough at least 🤔

Hey guys! finally got a update again! there was a delay about a week ago since I got stuck with figuring out how to make Leo playable in this demo. while I could use a global value or flags to resolve this, I wanted to use events that make it easy to remember instead of using values or flags I decided to copy the test level and make it up into 2 separate scenes so we can switch Meryl and Leo!
Now with that issue out of the way, all that needs to be done left is to make finishing touches with the other 2 modes. There won't be any changes to the controls with item or sound tests, only the background color and additional music and few items to be added for the test! there might be new features to be included but for now this is all I can say!
Im posting here to let my followers know this is not dead and still ongoing. hopefully will be done tonight or tomorrow morning depends how Im doing!
the delay was taken up by ripping things from n64 game Conker for another side project which you will find out on my Rare Unofficial blog! This blog is for Earthbound related works only so lets stay on topic about that here lmao.
By the way, I have good news but it might not sound much. Gavin Thomas's portfolio site is back on just recent but currently no Oddity yet. He mentioned a website for Oddity couple years ago which might happen soon since he is currently active with doing sprite art for a mentioned "demo". Gav even predicted that Oddity will come around 2025 and thats next year! but its currently hard to believe at the moment as its still too early for them to announce anything after many years of broken promises, lies, and so much show off plus the team done a bit of abuse with bullying and ghosting around their community and I just happen to be one of their "victims" since I was on their Discord! :(
Oddity staff should be considered notorious, full of secrecy, toxic individuals, and poorly mismanaged! If I were the team, they should give up their game since its no longer the "Mother 4" we wanted anymore and even someone else said that the whole "rebrand" was only excuse to further delay their game and anger their followers! It makes you wonder how a fan project from 2008 could still go on this far when it was once handled by a much more friendly, loving, caring, and more social group back in the day before stupid Pastel came to ruined Azure's project that could been faithful for a Mother 3 follow up but as it already turn out, they screwed up and not anyone else besides that other group https://mother4.org/ ever accomplish a single Mother 4 attempt!
and thats why this project happen, I'll be the very first to make Mother 4 happen for real because I have all the time and THE GUTS to make my own follow up for Mother 3, a game that will never likely continue unless another company buys the EB franchise one day.
While this version of Mother 4 won't be accurate to Oddity's changed storyline, the characters and setting will remain the same because this project was meant to kick off Mother 4 from when it was last seen as a EB fan sequel before the rebrand with everything I gathered from what was already been known so far as of 2019.
The leaks made a excellent resource I wish this could been done the same with Kirby Cosmic Chaos (another fan project we also lost) but since theres nothing leaked from that other fan game we're screwed with Cosmic Chaos anyway lol.
Theres also very few leaked things found from the other Mother 4 but its not much. This project is to serve as a makeup from the mistake that both Mother 4 teams failed to provide or done yet, they hardly stay in touch with their community and let alone not sharing a single demo! Thats why Im doing this, the very early demos is to serve the followers here to give them a idea how the game will be played like. they are only proof of concepts and does not show the exact look of the game once I get down to the bigger versions of this project!
I had a few confused people in the past few weeks who mistaken my game for what it is. I want to clear up that the demos was something I would do with all my other previous projects since 2006. I always start with experimental demos and this shows! the experimental demos is to test the controls, sound, and other important features we might see in the finished game but at the moment you will have to enjoy what I can provide for now. I don't have all the resources to make a complete Mother 4 yet but at least whatever we got from the leaks can help with my own version of Mother 4 lmao.
By the way, I plan on going back to Starmen.net since Earthbound Eternal is still very inactive with fewer people online there. I used to update my project there but now my main page would be both Game Jolt and Earthbound Eternal as I have no better place where to share my games! :(
Mediafire would be a risky choice as I heard some files went missing on Mediafire plus Dropbox has limited space and only useful for personally sharing files privately with a friend or community.
Internet Archive would be another great choice but Im currently unable to share stand alones there due to virus total scanning them there and calling them malware when they are not! Im only able to share project files there so if you got your own copy of clickteam, you can make the stand alone yourself to run the game that way! However I like to stick with Game Jolt and Earthbound Eternal to release my EB games and demos!
Look forward to updates from me later tonight or tomorrow morning!

Chapter 13: Until My Heart Stops Beating
< | Previous Chapter
The rest of the day prior to your wedding was spent in partial tension. You never found out what the favor Techno had called for was exactly, but you didn’t mind. Truthfully, you were increasingly more focused on your wedding. It was exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time, and you practically had to force yourself to sleep that night. You awoke far earlier than normal because of it, moving around your room anxiously.
You eventually lowered yourself into your bath, taking care to make sure you were clean. You let the steam from the water curl around you, sighing and trying your best to relax. Thinking about today caused your stomach to erupt in butterflies and a smile to spread across your face. You truly hoped today went well. Eventually you stood up, stepping out of the tub and sliding into a shift.
There was a soft knock on your door after a few moments of you just sitting, and you called whoever it was in. Eret slid into the room, offering you a smile. A bundle of white fabric sat in his arms, and a few servants followed behind him with various things. “Good morning to our bride,” He practically cooed, motioning towards a servant to the table between chairs. She followed, setting down a tray where he pointed. She hurriedly bowed, leaving the room soon after. You watched Eret settle the fabric onto your bed, the remaining servants following in setting down boxes of other stuff. He sent them off, before turning to you.
“Morning Eret,” You murmured, returning his earlier smile. He seemed content, motioning towards the tray of food.
“Go ahead and eat, we’ll start with your hair. Are you nervous?” You reached for the cup of tea, bringing it to your lips and adjusting yourself so Eret had access to your hair.
“Very. Also excited, but I imagine it’s to be expected,” You managed to explain, letting Eret run a brush through your hair. You took your time with the food, enjoying the way Eret tended to your appearance. You didn’t normally allow yourself to get pampered like this, so you wouldn’t mind doing it this once.
“I imagine so. It’ll all go fine, though. It’ll probably go by better than you expect.” He made sure your hair was laying perfectly, humming under his breath as he did.
“Hopefully it goes smoothly, I do have some concerns though,” You sighed out the words, thinking about Dream. You hoped he would behave, truly. You would be extremely upset if he didn’t.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine,” Eret reassured. You watched him move towards the fabric on the bed, peering at the lace he picked up. The veil. Your stomach erupted into nervous butterflies at the sight of it, examining delicate lace as he brought it over. The edges were thorned vines, leaves of white lace lying beneath light blue ribbon roses. You marveled it as he brought it close, unable to help your smile.
“You really outdid yourself,” You couldn’t stop the praise from leaving your mouth, reaching out to run your fingers along it.
“Just wait until you see the full dress. Turn your head.” You did as he instructed, turning away from him so he could start setting the pins of the veil into your hair. The lace tickled your shoulders, but you did your best to keep still. He softly grasped your shoulders once he was finished, giving them a squeeze. You turned to look at him, and he smiled at you. He disappeared to the bed once more, rustling through the boxes and bringing one over. You peered into it curiously, eyeing the roses inside. They were fresh, white ones from the garden. You laughed softly, turning to face him so he could situate them in your hair.
Eret lined them up along the edge of your veil, making sure they sat perfectly in your hair. The pins would be a pain to take out later tonight, but you didn’t entirely mind it right now. “Are you finished eating?” He questioned once he finished, moving to grab another box before you replied. You nodded when he returned, watching him pull out kohl from the box.
You instinctively closed your eyes, letting him line them with the makeup without question. He softly murmured when you were good to open them. He took his time applying a stain to your cheeks and lips, stepping back to examine his work. He sighed softly, smiling at you. “You’re going to be a vision,” He murmured, making your cheeks flush.
“You think so?” You questioned, acutely aware of the fluttering of your stomach.
“I know so. Come on, let’s get you in your dress.” He motioned you to stand up, and you did so on shaking legs. The anxiety regarding your marriage was starting to leak through now, and you couldn’t hide it. Eret offered you a reassuring look, sorting through the bundles of fabric settled on your bed. He grabbed one of sections of fabric, holding it out to you. You examined it, easily identifying the petticoat and slipping it on over your shift.
Next he moved towards you, holding out another section of fabric. The actual dress. The sleeves were made of tulle, a light blue in color, flaring out away from ribbon roses at the elbows made to match the ones on your veil. The base of the dress was simple. White, with a deep scooping neckline. He helped guide it over your head, situating it around your shift. You couldn’t help but watch as he adjusted the tulle on the skirt. Ribbon Roses decorated the scalloped edges of the tulle, exposing the white skirt beneath.
The stay was next, matching the dress with the white fabric embroidered delicately with blue roses. Eret’s brows were furrowed as he meticulously tightened the ribbons on it, making sure it sat perfectly. Once he had, he stepped back to examine you with a soft sigh. You flushed a little beneath the appraising gaze. He moved around again, grabbing a simple pair of shoes and stooping to slide them onto your feet. Moving in the dress almost felt weird, despite it not being too different in make than your most formal dresses. Perhaps it felt heavy with the meaning.
“One last touch,” Eret said, moving towards the final box on the bed. You had given him the earrings Techno gave you, as well as the necklace from Dream, for him to keep a hold of until today. You knew that was what sat within the box, watching him gingerly pick up the necklace to drape it around your neck. He tilted your head, sliding in the earrings and stepping back to give you a full look over.
“Oh, you’re gonna be the envy of so many,” He praised, and you shifted almost self consciously. The fact that you were wearing this dress caused you to fidget nervously.
“It doesn’t feel real,” You murmured, shifting around to search out the mirror you had. The rustling of your skirts felt loud in your ears, eyes roving over your appearance. It felt like something from a book, something so etherally unreal.
“It is, I promise. I’ll go get your brother,” He whispered, stepping towards the door. You watched him, before turning your eyes back to your reflection. What would today hold for you? The ceremony was straight forward, but the celebration itself felt so unsure. Anything could happen.
A soft knock resounded at your door, causing you to turn once more. George pushed open the door, carefully shutting it behind him. He stared at you for several long moments, seeming at a loss for words. It was probably weird, seeing you about to be married.
“It’s so hard to believe you’re my baby sister,” He practically echoed your thoughts, walking towards you. You laughed softly, nodding along.
“I guess I’m really not a baby anymore, am I?” You questioned, watching as he placed his hands on your shoulders. You leaned ever so slightly into the touch, a smile tugging your lips.
“No. Are you sure you still want this?” He watched you closely, looking for any change in your expression.
“Of course. Techno is kind, and his family is enjoyable. I have easily found friends here, and I know I can just as easily make a happy life. I will always miss you and Dream, but we’ll all move on.” You gently grabbed one of his hands, squeezing it tightly. George smiled, seeming almost sad.
“The castle won’t ever be the same. You’ve grown up so much.” He returned the squeeze, and you could only nod. You did yearn for the ease you felt of your teenage years in the castle. The lack of responsibilities you had felt, being able to run around and goof off with Dream. However you felt more freedom now than you had there. It was a new feeling, but a welcome one.
“I’ll miss some parts of it, but I’m excited for my future here. Everyone is so kind,” You constantly reassured him, letting him move you away from the mirror.
“Eret said he was going to check on Technoblade, but he’d tell us when everything was ready. Are you ready for this?” He settled into one of the chairs, pulling you into the one beside him.
“As ready as I can be. I’m nervous. There’s a lot happening today,” You folded your hands in your lap, legs bouncing.
“I can imagine. You put a lot of work into planning this, didn’t you?” You sat up straight, having problems trying to relax. The nerves were unbearable.
“Sort of, I just had input. Eret handled a lot of the main plans. Him, Wilbur, and Nihachu deserve more credit than I do.” You could hardly take any of the responsibility. You didn’t put in much actual work, just feedback.
“Still, it’s not everyday you get married. Everything will go fine,” George reassured, giving you a smile. Truly, you didn’t know what you would do without him. Probably fall apart, you imagined. The two of you chattered softly as you waited, George attempting to keep your nerves soothed. It wasn’t too long before there was a knock at the door, Eret popping his head in.
“Everything’s ready now. Are you ready?” His voice was gentle, and you offered a soft smile.
“As ready as I can be,” You sighed, standing up. George followed, lingering right beside you.
“You know where to go, right? I’ll go ahead and wait there, give the two of you a few more moments,” Eret spoke softly, as if anything louder would break the calmness. You appreciated it, whispering your thanks as he left. George turned to you, taking your hands in his.
“The wedding will go wonderfully, I know it. Mom and Dad send their best wishes. It’s hard to believe my baby sister is all grown up and getting married now.” The way he spoke and squeezed your hands had tears springing to your eyes. They threatened to spill as he pulled you in for a hug, kissing your forehead. You carefully laid your head against his shoulder, clinging to him.
“I’m really going to miss our garden walks,” you whispered, and he nodded.
“I will too. Don’t keep them waiting, though. I don’t want your husband to come looking for you.” George finally pulled away from you, leading you towards the door to your room. You followed, taking a deep breath. Silence lapsed between the pair of you as you wandered down the hallway and stairs. You were led through the courtyard, towards the garden. Nerves pooled in your stomach, and you hoped it didn’t show.
George gripped your hand in reassurance, walking with you down the path. Eyes were on you, and you were very aware of it. Among those eyes, though, were Techno’s. At the other end of the aisle. Hands folded in front of him, a pale cape fastened around his shoulders. A blue sash was tied around his waist, similar in color to the blue accents on your dress. The emerald rose brooch sat against the stark white of his shirt, clearly visible from the other end. The black prongs of his crown stood tall, a heavy contrast to the pink locks fanned around it. His braid was ornamented with gold chains, jewels interspersed within the chains.
In short, he was definitely a regal sight standing there. You were reluctant to let go of George’s hand in exchange for Techno’s, yet did all the same. You briefly watched your brother move away, taking a spot beside Dream. You watched your friend for a few moments, shifting beneath his gaze. His gaze was dark, and he offered you a smile. You supposed it was meant to be encouraging, but it never quite reached his eyes. You didn’t care to think too much on it, attention focusing back in on Techno.
He was staring down at you, a soft look in his brown eyes. That helped quell the nerves in your chest, and you offered him a smile as soft as the look he gave you. A moment of peace, almost to yourselves, as the Officiant was droning on beside the two of you.
“...to unite two separate souls into that of one. This braid of ribbon will signify their unity and bind them together, from now until eternity.” The man lifted a thick braid of ribbon, made of three colors: red, white, and black. Small vines of flowers were interwoven with it, and it was certainly pretty. Techno kept one hand with yours, the other taking one end of the ribbon braid from the wrinkled hand holding it out to him.
“Do you swear, on all that you hold dear, that you will protect this woman with your entire being? That you will give her everything you have, in wealth and love?” He rattled as Techno began gingerly weaving the braid around your joined hands. It caused butterflies to stir in your stomach, just watching it. His eyebrows were even knitted together in concentration, the very tip of his tongue peaking out of his mouth.
“I swear on it all, that I will care for her until I draw my last breath.” There was a warmth to his voice that had your cheeks flushing, a smile tugging the corners of your lips up further. You carefully took the braid from him when prompted, weaving it around your hands as well.
“Do you swear, to all you hold close, that you will support this man with your entirety? That through everything, injury and health, sickness and wealth, you will stay by his side?” You finished weaving the braid as he spoke, the two ends hanging loose beneath your hands.
“I swear it. I’ll be by his side until my heart stops beating.” Your voice rang clear, and the officiant seemed content with it.
“Then I will tie the loose ends of this braid. This represents the joining of your two wayward souls joining together to be one. In the presence of the sky and the earth, the trials of water and fire, you will forever be one. Even beyond mortality, you will always be with one another, through this life and the next.” As he spoke, he very carefully grasped the ends of the braid. They were tied together, locking their hands in a grasp. You couldn’t help the grin that split your face at that, turning to look up at Techno.
He offered you a soft smile, taking a step closer to you and carefully gripping your chin with his thumb and forefinger. Your stomach practically exploded into nervous butterflies. The kiss. You had forgotten the kiss. He leaned down, lips pressing to yours firmly. It was just a kiss of obligation, a part of the ceremony, but it had heat crawling over your cheeks and down your neck. He lingered, fingers gently squeezing yours. You couldn’t help but respond to the squeeze, stepping a little closer to him.
He was pulling back after a few heartbeats, smiling at you once more and turning towards the people. You couldn’t help the squeak that escaped you as he held up your bound hands, causing a few of them to cheer. Part of you wanted to hide, but you simply stuck as close to Techno’s side as you could.
“Let’s party!!” Tommy’s voice rang out from the crowd. He was clearly exhausted with all the ceremonial things, though you weren’t entirely sure you blamed him. Weddings weren’t too exciting, though your nerves would beg to differ. You felt like a frazzled mess on the inside, and you still had an entire day to go.
You and Techno stood back, watching the crowd filter towards the ball room. You glanced to the ribbon binding your hands, acutely aware of the feeling of Techno's fingers slotted between yours. You supposed that you were giving the boys time to set up for the first dance. You just accepted the silence, practically leaning against your husband.
"After the dance we'll be able to take the ribbon off. You won’t be tied to me all day." Amusement laced his voice, and you couldn’t help but laugh a little.
"It's not all bad. A little inconvenient, but all in all it's fine." You looked up to him with a smile, which he returned. Your free hand moved, toying with the ends of the ribbon. The pair of you only stood there for a little longer before you heard Tommy shouting for the pair of you to hurry up. You couldn’t help but laugh. Did he ever stop having energy? You followed Techno along the path winding through the garden, the soft chatter from the ballroom floating over the veranda.
"You did it, Big Man! You're a married man!" Tommy cheered when the pair of you walked in, slinging an arm around both of your shoulders. "Now that this is my sister-in-law," the way he said it, reeling you close to him with a shit eating grin told you this was going to be entertaining, "I can fight her now, right?"
A loud laugh bubbled past your lips at the antics, watching Techno huff and swat at his brother with his free hand. "We'll see." This seemed to be enough to placate Tommy for the time being, sending him scurrying off towards where Tubbo and Wilbur were messing with the instruments in the corner. You watched the blond pester his brother and best friend, a fond smile on your face. He was quite excitable about this all, but it's not like the pair of you had been complete strangers over the past few weeks.
Besides your common training with Techno, you would often spend time sneaking about the castle with Tommy and Tubbo, quietly helping them with all sorts of trouble that they got into. Not to mention the time you spent in the libraries by yourself, or the gardens with Eret. While in the library there were times Wilbur or Philza would visit you. You never minded it, though. Their silent companionship was warm and comfortable. Yet Techno always seemed to hesitate when it came to letting you train with his family. Surely they couldn’t be worse than him- or better, you supposed.
“Spare a coin for your thoughts?” Techno pulled you from your musings of his family, your gaze moving to him instead. You only spared a glance to the others before fully focusing on Techno.
“Just thinking about your family. How you’ve never let me really train with them. Only letting them watch. Is there a certain reason?” Your voice was soft, not willing anyone to hear your words. He paused any movement, seeming to clearly think over the answer. Or perhaps how to best frame it. You weren’t sure why he was thinking so hard, but you could practically see the wheels turning as he did.
“Tommy is reckless. Tubbo is… alright with fighting, a bit clumsy but enthusiastic. Philza is a much higher combat level than I would want you to fight just yet. As for Wilbur…” He trailed off, practically staring off behind your head. You turned, following his gaze to his older brother. The brown-haired prince was toying with the instrument, muttering to Tubbo before looking at Techno with a grin. He gave a thumbs up, and you could see Techno incline his head in a subtle nod before turning to you. “Well, Wilbur is encouraging us to dance.”
If you squinted, you swore you could see the faintest trace of pink on Techno’s cheeks. However you didn’t care to squint too hard, simply positioning the pair of you to dance. He squeezed your still joined hands, other hand hovering momentarily over the middle of your back before settling. Almost as if he had been unsure of the action. Once the two of you had settled comfortably into the position, the soft strings of Wilbur’s instrument filled the room, paired with the gentle notes from Tubbo at the piano. You were half focused on the music, partially focused on your husband. He pulled you along the floor effortlessly, spinning you with a practiced elegance you should have been expecting.
“Why not Wilbur?” You prodded again, only when you had fallen in line with the music as well as Techno. A soft sigh passed his lips as he gazed at you, eyes darting around to the people who were watching you.
“It’s complicated. Best we don’t go into it now.” His tone left no room for argument, a voice he rarely used with you- only when the pair of you trained. You responded with your own sigh, a little disappointed. You supposed you understood, but that didn’t make you any less curious. What was it that made Techno not want you to train with Wilbur?
“Later, then.” You were a little reluctant to agree. You trusted him to tell you whatever it was later. You would be rather upset if he didn’t. The two of you lapsed into silence as you danced. You were so acutely aware of many things. The gazes on you. The pressure of the ribbon braid on your hand. The feel of Techno’s hand on your back. The way you caught Dream’s dark gaze whenever he was in your line of sight. It was a lot, and truly you weren’t sure what to make out of it all.
It felt almost as soon as the dance and music had started, it was ending. Applause poured around you and you fidgeted. You were used to attention, but the attention you were receiving at your wedding was not something you could have ever prepared yourself for. Techno pulled away from you some, almost awkwardly, before reaching for the ribbon. “Why don’t we get this off and you can go dance with your brother. He looks restless.” You turned to look at George, who did in fact appear to be restless. He was shifting, eyes on the pair of you. You offered up a smile, holding up a finger to tell him you would be a moment.
The ribbon peeled from your hands after a few moments. Techno gingerly folded it, tucking it into his pocket. You smiled at him as well, rubbing your hand from where the ribbon had pressed into it. “Go, I’ll play a song. Since I’m required to.” He didn’t necessarily sound happy and you could only laugh.
“Alright. I’ll see you when I get a break. I know everyone is going to want to dance.” You slipped away from Techno to instead make way to George, grinning at him.
“Don’t look so nervous,” You teased, nudging him. He gave a shaking laugh.
“I can’t help it. There’s something almost tense about this whole thing. It feels so formal.” You understood what he meant. You knew marriages in Kinoko were different to this. They were more casual, even for royal families.
“It is strange. Almost overwhelming, isn’t it?” George had nodded in response. “Well then, Crown Prince Nofton,” you began to tease, a lopsided grin on your face. A reminder that you still were, in a way, his little sister he grew up with. “Are you going to keep me waiting?” You held out a hand, arching an eyebrow at him.
“My apologies, Crown Princess Minraelas. Would you honor me, your dearest brother, with a dance on your wedding day?” He bowed dramatically, grin matching your own. His tone was lofty, poking subtle fun at the way the courts of larger countries held themselves. You simply giggled as he took your hand, gently holding it and your shoulder with his other. “It even seems your husband will be playing a song for us.” He was struggling to contain his laughter, and you were barely managing.
The low sound of a violin drifted into the room, causing your head to turn to look at Techno. His eyes were closed as he ran the bow along the strings of the instrument, fingers moving against frets with clear familiarity. For all the resistance he had put up to playing the song, he seemed at peace with it now. You smiled, attention turning back to your brother as he pulled you into the throng of dancing people. "So it would seem," you concluded, letting the pair of you spin gently together as violin notes filled the air.
"You'll still write, won't you?" George had asked again, and you simply laughed softly.
"Always. I promise I'll tell you if I'm ever put into danger." You offered him a reassuring smile and he simply nodded. He seemed content enough, and you knew he had to be. He really was watching you grow up, wasn't he?
"If you don't write, I'm sending our entire army to rescue you." His lips quirked, a breathless laugh escaping him. You couldn't help but laugh as well.
"What makes you think I couldn't hold my own? I'm learning to fight now!" You declared, puffing your chest out just slightly. This elicited another laugh from your brother.
"No offense, but Technoblade handed you your ass. I think you might need the help of an army." You pouted at this, nose wrinkling just a little.
"Well, I doubt it'll ever come to the point of me having to truly fight."  You waved it off, shooting him a smile. “I’m well taken care of here. They like me.” You twisted, looking over to where Tubbo was speaking to Tommy. The brunet caught your gaze, brightening and offering you a cheerful wave. You lifted your hand briefly from George’s, returning the wave. Your attention returned to your brother, who simply smiled gently.
“I can tell. I just worry about you being where I can’t see you.” His voice was gentle, hand once more grasping your own. Your gaze softened slightly, head shaking just a little.
“I’m not a little girl anymore, Gogy. I swear to you, I’ll be fine. Happy. Free.” The childhood nickname had rolled off of your tongue with familiarity. A sign of how genuine you were. No formalities. Just two siblings.
He had sighed in response, hugging you tight for a moment. “I know. It’s hard to not see you as one.” You could reluctantly accept that, returning the hug. “I suppose I can’t keep your company for myself. Go, dance with Dream. He probably wants to.”
The words brought your attention to the blond, catching his eye and smiling a little. His gaze seemed conflicted- caught somewhere between soft and affectionate, and hard and frustrated. You tried your best to ignore it, waving him over slightly. He seemed to hesitate, before running his hands down the front of the green tunic he wore and heading your way.
“Princess,” he greeted gently once he was close. Your eyes shone with light-hearted fondness, taking his proffered hand. He tugged you closer to him, one hand curled with yours while the fingers of the other dug slightly into your waist. You shrugged the grip off a little, free hand settling onto his shoulder, fingers fingers brushing the white fur of the cape that sat there.
“For now,” You teased, beaming up at him. Mischief was clear in your grin, letting him whisk you away along the dance floor. His eye flickered with something- too quick for you to notice. Then it was looking over your head, seemingly focusing on someone else. You almost turned to look, but he was soon focused on you. He moved way too fast for you to keep up. It was exhausting, yet you weren't sure you wanted to bother with it right now. Not today.
His fingers grasped your waist tighter. "You're really set on this, aren't you? Are you even sure you truly want to become queen to him? To this nation?" Disgust and irritation laced his words. Hell, he even sounded accusatory. You frowned up at him, squaring your shoulders.
"I've told you this before. I'm going through with this. I'm fine. You and George worry too much. Praelicentiam has treated me well," you reassured. Your fingers smoothed the fur of his cloak, praying it was enough.
He still looked disgruntled, lips tugging into a small scowl. "You know if things go wrong-" he started, but you shook his head to cut him off.
"I can return to Kinoko. I know. You and George have told me this more times than I can count."  Your eyes fluttered shut in an attempt to calm yourself. His grip relaxed in the process, tugging you even closer.
"I just worry for you here. You've heard the rumors. I feel like you'd be safer in Kinoko." Where he could watch you. It was left unsaid, but definitely implied. He leaned down, pressing a feather light and affectionate kiss to your forehead. Heat rushed to your cheeks as you made to move away, saved by the clearing of a throat.
"Surely you wouldn't mind if I stole our bride for a dance?" A firm hand sat on your arm, drawing your attention to the blond man who had interrupted. Philza stood there, a kind yet unnerving smile directed to your childhood friend.
Dream narrowed his eye for a moment before he relented, handing you over to the man. "Of course not. I'll talk to you later, princess." The distaste in his voice was palpable, but you were able to ignore it.
"You were starting to look like a deer caught in the middle of a path," Philza pulled your attention to him as he moved with you to the music. You couldn’t help but laugh nervously.
"Dream can be a lot sometimes." Philza had simply inclined his head in acknowledgement as you spoke. Dream always had a way to be intense, and you never deciphered if it was good. It had been that way for the past year. You were hardly given time to dwell on your best friend, though. Instead you were being handed over to Tommy, who seemed far from thrilled. Just behind him you could see Wilbur, throwing him a very pointed look.
He didn't seem to linger with his dance, grumbling the whole time about how he hated these formal events. Much like the child he was. You would only laugh, knocking his ankles with your feet.
Then you were off to Tubbo, who's eyes were just as bright as his grin. "If I didn't know better, I'd say you were enjoying my wedding more than I am." It was a lighthearted tease but he couldn't help but sheepishly laugh.
"For now I am, yeah," he acknowledged. You followed his gaze over your shoulder, where Schlatt stood holding a cup of wine. You supposed he wasn't looking forward to dealing with his father. You didn't blame him. Beside Schlatt stood Dream, his eye focused solely on you. The pair seemed quiet, thankfully. The idea of Schlatt talking too much with Dream made your stomach churn. You didn't doubt that Schlatt would be able to make Dream do something stupid- the older man was no doubt irritating.
The music faded to a new song, joined with a new dance partner. Your feet were aching, begging for a chance to sit down. Yet you supposed it was obligatory to dance with people. At least your new family seemed to believe so. Which is why Wilbur was now gliding you across the dance floor. He held himself with a poise very akin to Techno’s, a practiced poise and grace to his movements.
As if the way he held himself as he danced wasn't reminder enough, he couldn't help but joke, "If things had gone differently perhaps I would have been the one to promise you my last breath." He laughed, shooting you an amused smile. You echoed his laugh, briefly pondering how different Praelicentiam may have been.
"We'll never know, shall we? I think I prefer you my brother, anyways." He nodded in agreement, one hand softly patting your hair. It was exhausting, being on your feet this long. You needed to eat.
Eret seemed to realize this as they stepped up to you, holding a hand out. "One dance with me and I'll get you back to Technoblade. You've been dancing awhile." You let your shoulders sag a little.
"Just one dance, then. I'm exhausted." A whine edged into your voice. They laughed and nodded, seeming satisfied once you placed a hand into their's. Their movements were a comfort, in a way. You felt endlessly comfortable with them.
"Do you miss Kinoko?" They questioned after a few moments, making your steps stutter. It wasn't a question you expected from them.
You regained yourself, offering a soft smile. "Of course. It's my home, there's people I love there. It'll always be my home and I'll always yearn for it. The path laid ahead of me led me here, though. This is my home just as much." You loved Kinoko endlessly. Yet you were growing to love Praelicentiam. This was going to be your kingdom one day. You needed to learn to love it and it's people.
Eret seemed to think on your answer, sighing softly. "So long as you find happiness."
"I'll be happy here," you were quick to defend, offering a smile. They relented, and pulled back as the song came to an end.
"Fine, fine. Let's get you off of your feet." You were more than happy to follow Eret as they led you through the mix of people. As if it was even hard to spot Techno, where he stood talking quietly to a short man. You barely got a look at him before you were noticed. The man looked at you from behind glasses before smiling, seeming to disappear into the crowd before you got close. You frowned, lifting an eyebrow at Techno.
"Finally had enough socialization?" His voice called to you once within range. Eret squeezed your shoulder, muttering about how they needed to attend to other matters and disappearing.
"More than enough. Who was that?" You tried to locate the man in the crowd, but he was nowhere you could see. Weird.
“Someone running a favor for me.” It was a bland answer but you supposed there wasn’t much to expect. You simply relaxed into his hand as it settled between your shoulder blades, steering you towards seating. It took everything in your power to not sink into the chair as it was pulled out for you. You had a feeling that now that you were seated, you’d be there for a long while.
Techno settled into the seat beside you, his eyes raking over everyone else. Watching as if he expected something. You followed the gaze, trying to view things as he did. Yet you couldn’t. All you saw was people partying, enjoying their time there. Eret was conversing with George, your older brother struggling to stifle laughter. Wilbur was talking to Nihachu and two people you couldn’t recognize. One was a woman, tall with a mop of curls like you had never seen. The way her fingers curled with Nihachu’s gave you enough clue on who she was. The other was a man, currently laughing over something you wished you could hear. He seemed to be laughing hard, struggling to keep ginger and white locks of hair out of his face.
You sought out the younger two, knowing they would be joined at the hip. It wasn’t too hard. They stood with another- a boy? He looked young in the face, from what you could see given the slightly anxious expression he wore. Light patches of skin quite a few shades lighter littered him, dual colored eyes focusing on Tommy. His hair was like an extreme version of the man who was with Wilbur- yet instead of ginger there was black. As well as several patches of white as opposed to a single tuft. He was certainly a sight to behold and you swore you had never seen him before. You would have remembered him.
You pushed it aside, for now. You sought out the few other people you knew still. Dream was in a corner, arms crossed over his chest as he talked to a guard. You could tell it was a Kinoko guard, but couldn’t tell who. You tried to look harder to figure it out- you grew up with much of the guard- but it was pointless. His back was to you. It would be more worth it to continue your conversation with Technoblade. “You seem to have a lot of people doing favors for you.”
He huffed in laughter beside you, turning his attention from the people. Instead he watched you, amusement bright in brown eyes.”I’m the crown prince. Of course I have a lot of favors being done.”
“What type of favors?” You questioned, kicking your feet just slightly. You wanted to know. As much time as you spent training with Techno, you didn’t know what he did beyond that. He was still as much of a mystery to you as when he walked into Kinoko.
He shook his head, eyes flicking towards the people again. “Things I would prefer you to stay out of unless necessary. Instead of thinking about that, think about food.” You opened your mouth to complain but he was already waving a servant over, mentioning food to them. The boy nodded, turning to go fetch the food.
You let yourself focus on the food. You’d already tried pushing Techno on one subject today and had to leave it alone, you weren’t going to try a second one. It’s not that you weren’t hungry, either. Everything that had happened today had made you hungry. At least the food was good. You were still having to adjust to the amount of food too. Kinoko hadn’t been able to eat like this in quite some time. You wondered if George and Dream felt similarly to the food- though you were sure that Praelicentiam had since begun to send food over.
It was only when you had finished you truly began to wind down. So did much of the celebration. People left the room with stomachs full of wine and good food. You’d have to thank Nihachu for it. In the morning, though. She had already left with her girlfriend. You were eager to join the crowds of people leaving. You were ready to go to sleep.
Which was a problem.
You had been taught for so much of your life what was expected of you on your wedding night. Your mom had made sure of that, unwilling to see her daughter get hurt in ignorance. Yet, it still had a weight settling in your stomach. A rock lodged in your throat. Why was it now that you felt the fear Dream was so insistent you felt? Was it because you didn’t know what to expect from Techno?
You couldn’t help but glance at him, fingers toying with your dress. You honestly hoped it was nothing like training. It made you wince, which pulled his attention to you instead. “Are you tired?” His voice was low. You hesitated, glancing towards the few people who still lingered. George and Dream had both left, as well as Tommy, Tubbo, and their tall friend. So few people were here now. You gave in and nodded. There was no point in sticking around. Techno stood up then, holding a hand out for you to take.
It was natural for you to let him lead you through the castle, despite you already knowing it pretty well. He seemed to want to make sure you got wherever you were going safely. The silence was crushing and tense. You almost felt like you were drowning in it. Could he hear the way your heart thrummed against your rib cage, or how your blood was roaring in your ears.
Yet he passed his chambers entirely, heading towards yours instead. It threw you off. Weren’t you supposed to consummate the marriage? Your confusion must have been evident, because he spoke softly, “You seem exhausted. Get some sleep.” A hand settled on your shoulder, squeezing softly. Then he leaned around you to open the door, leaving you to your thoughts and wondering why he had taken you to your room instead of his.

A Cure for Insomnia CH.2
Getting back to your little one story cottage, you can only manage to rush in and run about in a mad dash as you try to accomplish getting ready for work and getting something to eat. Running through choices in your head as you change and freshen up, nothing sounds good. There's not much time since your shift starts at nine and to make it to the store you need to leave by eight twenty. You got home at eight fifteen, and while Nate, your manager, has never seemed to give a fuck what you did at work you're still in your probationary period and would like to keep the easiest job you've ever had.
It's a really simple gig, seeing as the store you work at is actually a front for some illegal activity. The variety of crime you aren't sure of, but you are aware there's no way you guys do no business and yet they can afford to pay thirty dollars an hour. Thankfully just keeping your mouth shut and being nice to little Jo, the owner's daughter, is enough to keep you in the cushiest job in the world. The store's front is a regular old book store, all the books are real, the registers work, you're able to sell books and you've run to the bank to do the weekly deposits twice for Book & Nook. The front is very legitimate or it would be if the amount of customers ever equaled the sales made.
Again you don't ask questions, because for thirty dollars an hour you get to goof off for a couple hours a day, plus you get a bonus when you watch little Jo at the shop. She's a real sweet eleven year old, she's got tourettes and took a shine to you the first time she saw you tic. While you both might not suffer the same disorder she finds the common ground nice, like it's not just her. It's not even hard to watch her or enjoy her company, she'll come bouncing in with her excited chittering and hands clapping spilling all the latest gossip that comes with being in middle school. And boy is there a lot of gossip.
It's really nice seeing that Jo has friends at school and is even considered a “popular” kid. You remember how tough school was because no one understood you and teachers never cared enough about your personality to bring up the fact that it was clear to most faculty members that you had Autism. You excelled academically so what did it matter if you got picked on for oversharing information or for finishing assignments the minute they were handed to you. As bittersweet as the parallels are you're so glad Jo doesn't have to go through that. Never would have thought a southern school could be so accepting, much less a middle school at that.
Tearing through the kitchen you honestly can't find anything that you want to eat right now. And even after a long night of hiking/dissociating you don't think you're that peckish at all. Figuring it's best to at least take something to quell any future nausea you grab a Pedialyte Pop from the freezer. As fast as you entered your home you left, and not before ensuring twice that the door was locked and secured. While living on the outskirts of town saves you from many potential robberies, and worse salesmen, there's still the chance of some lunatic with an ax hiding out in a closet to murder you. Better safe now than sorry later.
Pulling into park behind the shop right at nine is a blessing. You run into the shop to clock in blurting out a quick 'Morning' to Nate, who was carrying a particularly large box, as you passed by him. In a flash you were back at your car retrieving your newly prized deer skull. Lungs burning a bit from the all out sprint you just did you took a little extra time to close the trunk and lock your car up to catch your breath, and avoid any light headiness you might get from the empty stomach workout. Eager to share the wonders of death with your best work friends, and by that you mean Nate your manager...and only other coworker, you rush back into the building.
The shop was quiet as usual as you made your way through the door though you were in the back room where only employees could roam you had the slightest suspicion that the front of shop was just the same. It's there you find Nate, now lugging a medium sized box around to a side table. He did this a lot you suspect some type of smuggling but hey plausible deniability and all those legal matters. The taller dark haired man sees you and just as he's about to wave you over, notices your prize with a raised brow.
“The fuck d'you bring in the store?” he doesn't seem amused by whatever it is he thinks you're up to. “Deer skull.” Lifting it up in one hand and pointing at it, “Found this guy on my hike last night...or rather this morning actually.”
“YN, we talked about this, you said you'd get some sleep last night. No adventures remember.” he's only two years older than you and yet he acts as if he's ten years. He must be an old soul, or enjoys the role of care giver...or you're making him go gray prematurely, anything's possible.
“Eh, I remember saying I'd 'try' and get sleep.” for someone who's body is running on fumes your cheekiness is astronomical, “operative word being 'try', remember.”
It's a long silence as Nate decides if he wants to deal with your bullshit at this moment. After a minute or so he concedes leaning back on the table behind him. “Let's hear it.” and you perk up immediately.
“Cool, so I was walking along the tree line and spotted him, tried to find more but seems there's only one piece. Judging by the size of his antlers I'd say he was nearly fully grown. Now my plan is to do whatever treatments taxidermists do to bones and,” you continue to word vomit at the tired twenty-six year old in front of you, about the joys and wonders of taxidermy and the likely hood of ever finding a skull so nicely preserved.
“I can do that in here right?” even though it's been phrased as a question, you aren't asking permission, you're just being polite and letting Nate know the storage room will house your creepy deer skull antics for today...maybe the week you need to find a taxidermist book to figure out what you need to do.
Nate gives up and leaves with his box of new books to let you have full run of the back to do your weird vulture culture shit. He figures he's just too old to understand the new obsessions with the macabre. He hopes his cousin won't take to shit like this, the kid's weird enough as it is, no need to put another target on her back. Nate sets off to take down the Harry Potter sets in favor of this new comic series little Jo wanted.
Already taking his silence as the go ahead you place your found skull on the table and rush off into the store front to find a book on taxidermy and hopefully more specifically about bones. The set up and organization of the store reminds you a lot of the scene in Brendan Fraser's The Mummy 1997 where Evie is on the ladder and somehow causes all the book shelves to fall like dominoes. So unsafe, yet all book stores and libraries seem to have this set up. With the tall shelves it makes it difficult to accurately get a read on the spines. You don't even know what section taxidermy actually falls under, education maybe?
“Nate, where do you think a book on taxidermy would be?” you called out as you passed by him.
“...hobby?” that didn't sound right but you'd give it a shot anyway.
This should be fun, the hobby section was so disorganized and it took up nearly half the store too, Book & Nook had everything from fishing, to crochet, cooking, the art of film making, hell even had a cryptid hunting book a book that you may have to look into a bit later. You closed your eyes and let your intuition guide you, when you looked up you saw a thin black...vine, no whisp? It undulates in less than rhythmic movements nearly like a snake but it has no head, and not unlike a tentacle but without suckers. It's another hallucination so you were keen to ignore it until it stretched past your head, giving you an added auditory hallucination where you swore you could hear wind rushing past your ears, it swirled around you until it flew to the shelf and tapped on a book. Cautiously you walked over to it, it's never good to play into these delusions. Once you got close enough the black shape was gone but on the shelf was a creme colored paper back titled “Manual of Taxidermy: Complete Guide of Preserving Birds and Mammals.”
Walking to Nate with the book in your hands you asked him to read it and make sure you weren't having an episode and making everything up right now. You'd have to try harder to go to sleep tonight if that were the case.
“Oh you found your book huh?” he said looking down at the title.
Well this is getting weird fast, but you nod nonetheless. Might as well thank the weird hallucination gift right. Leaving him to do whatever it is he plans on doing the rest of the day, you go to the back. And just as the book instructs you set to cleaning the skull by setting it in some water and changing it as many times as the water runs murky. The book is quiet helpful to a beginner like yourself but it does seem a bit outdated from the bits of information you know from taxidermists blogs and vulture culture posts on the internet. Reading it in between water changes is a great way to pass the time though, not like you guys get any real customers anyways.
The bell rings as the front door opens and closes alerting you to someone's arrival on your third water change. Needing a little bit of mental stimulation you walk out into the front where Big Jo and Little Jo are talking to Nate. Little Jo sees you and skitters away from her father to rush you, she stops about a foot away and holds her arms wide open. She's a hugger but upon meeting you had never even thought people could be touch adverse so keeping in mind that you might not want to be touched she's learned to invite you into hugs and it's your choice to allow it or not. Placing a hand on your bicep you give a squeeze, checking your tolerance you find the thought bearable. Placing your arms outstretched at your sides Jo rushes your torso for her hug.
After she nearly body slammed you into the wall, and  let her death grip go she was off on a tangent about so many things. Her excited rapid blinking tic, one she developed after meeting you, triggering your own.
“Ok so you remember how last week I told you that Jessie Kinsleton said that Micheal Saleisa told Gigi B, not Gigi S. that Meghan,” you had no clue the lives of eleven year olds had gotten so complex, from the gossip you heard from Jo it seemed that the school's sixth graders were plotting for a war with an ice cream parlor up the street. No clue why, maybe just to fuck the system, kids are weird, preteens are weirder...and angry.
But you nod to Jo listening to her every word, and trying to calm your eyelids so you could actually open your eyes. After being told the sequence of events that would happen in the Tween Armageddon, something to do with Marco Salvator ordering three dozen donuts and a flock of geese, your eyes finally gained their ability to see back. Black whisps, much like the one from earlier, wandered all around your vision, it looked like a  dark smoke had settled eye level within the shop and was snaking through the isles.
Catching the movement of your eyes Jo looked around the shop too. Seeing nothing she turned back to you concerned, “Hey it's okay, nothin's there.”
Hearing the drop in volume of the normally chatty tween, Big Jo and Nate pause their conversation to turn their attention to you and follow you're gaze.
“Kid, you ain't sleepin' again?” Big Jo can already gauge by the bags under your eyes but he's a polite man so he feels the need to ask rather than state his assumptions.
“Day 6.” You answer simply, ever since you've started at Book & Nook the whole Cowell family became acutely aware of many of your disorders. By their record your longest time spent awake was ten days, you however adamantly say that you were an hour's mark away from ten full days so the longest you've been up is nine days in a row. And those are just the cases they know of since you've moved to Kepler.
Big Jo shook his head as a stern father would, which he is, “I have half the mind to send you home to rest.”
“That won't work.” you really don't mean to sound so coarse but it's so irritating having to go over this at least once a week.
“What about those gummy things Dia got you?”
“Long term that kind of stuff has no effect, sure it'll make me drowsie for an hour or two but even if it made me sleep one night I can't use it all the time. And before you ask the same questions again, caffeine has no real effect on me so limiting my intake will do nothing and weed doesn't do a thing for me either.” you state plainly, monotone as you present facts that everyone in the room already knows.
Looking at the stern face of Big Jo's and the exasperated face of Nate you continue, “I know it must be frustrating for you to not be able to help, but I'm content living like this. I like my late night adventures and when I do sleep it's really pleasant.”you threw in a smile for added comfort.
“Kid tha's not the point, there's somethin' wrong with you, medically I mean.” he's pinching the bridge of his nose, probably counting to ten to calm himself from raising his voice.
“Tons of people suffer from insomnia and there isn't anything a doctor could do for me except look for underlying conditions.” Big Jo's about to retort when you continue with, “Plus my dad and uncle both have insomnia as well so my case is due to the genetic lottery I lost.” You say with a hint of finality of your situation, you had to come to terms with this condition all the way back in high school. Having a decade to get used to your strange condition and the limitations it places on you from time to time. Whereas the Cowell family's only had two months to process this information, and you understand it'll take awhile before they stop being concerned. Same thing happened with you parents and friends back then too.
For now you're only met with more head shakes as if they were saying 'what are we going to do with you'. Leaving your medical issues aside Nate and Big Jo continue to talk shop, when the set up Nate just put on display catches Jo's eye.
Like lightening the tween was away from your side and by the new display shelf it looked like it held graphic novels. That's a first since you've been here, you walk over to join Jo knowing the second you do she'll start on about what's got her so excited. Most people might say you over indulge the child and coddle her but you actually just think it's really important to take interest in what makes kids happy. It helps them find their voices and also shows them that it's normal to get excited and like things.
“We got the TAZ graphic novels in?!” you hate rhetorical questions but smile and nod at her anyway.
“Have you read them? No, well you've listen to the podcast...what omg! Ok so there's these three brothers and their,” Jo begins regaling you with tales from the podcast known as The Adventure Zone and how fun they've made dungeons and dragons seem with their amazing story telling and funny characters.
You aren't sure if a show where the main group of heroes being called Tres Horny Bois is exactly age appropriate but when you look to Big Jo he kind of just shrugs it off. Turning you attention back to Jo who's now monologing about mongooses you just smile at the weird family you've found yourself in.
Let it be said that a tween with a slightly unhealthy fixation on something can find anyway to drag it back to that fixation. The day flew by with Jo explain the inner workings of dungeons and dragons, fifth edition, to you, her father, and her cousin after you mentioned why she didn't play. Apparently she'd love to but wanted a story fitting for her friend's to adventure. So being the good older cousin, father, and weird family friend you all were you came up with a story plot for her to use with her campaign.
The Jos had a lot of fun bonding over this little workshop and you guys even had food delivered so you and Nate could stay later. What was meant to just be a quick workshop turned into a mini family game night after you made several nearly impossible puzzles that wouldn't be used in Jo's campaign due to no one at the current table understanding how to solve it even after you showed them several times.
Overall it was fun and you think you might actually be tired enough to go to sleep tonight. You tried to stay and help clean up but Big Jo put his foot down and told you to go get some rest, he'd seen the way you occasionally look around the room as if something was moving behind them all. You may have started off as a cashier two months ago for him but his daughter has opened up a lot since meeting you and discovering that tics aren't so uncommon and there are people who wouldn't care or make a big deal out of them. Because of that you've earned your keep in his family, he already has you down on the list for Christmas cards.
Knowing you can't fight the six foot four man you roll your eyes and bid everyone good night, little Jo coming in to steal another hug from you and thank you for helping with her game. Checking on your skull you see the water's clear and dump it in the sink of the break room before leaving the skull to dry overnight, it's for sure gonna make Nate scream tomorrow, you can't help but chuckle at that.
Leaving through the back door and into the dusk colored parking lot you notice your trunk is popped open slightly. You definitely heard it shut earlier this morning. You blink before your head jerks to the right, unsettled by possibility of a break in and not risking it you head back inside.
“Hey, I think my car may have been broken into.” you stand awkwardly in the door way unsure of how to proceed.
Big Jo and Nate are out of the door as fast as they can. They find your car unlocked with the trunk popped, you know they weren't trying to brush you off when they asked several times if you did in fact lock your car this morning. After hearing your affirmative response each time, they began to inspect your car checking to make sure all wires are properly secured under the hood, Nate even retrieved the jack out of his own car to take a look under the car, ensuring the brakes hadn't been messed with. They started the car up just fine and it didn't appear tampered with. Even though nothing looked out of place and Nate's car, sitting in the same parking lot, hadn't been touched you appreciated them checking to make sure you were alright.
Knowing you're perceived as a woman by most, even outside of this small town, makes you uneasy when it comes to terms of abductions and violence. You know the chances and hear the stories whether it's from the victim's mouth or a podcaster's telling the story the dead can't. Nate offered to follow you home and make sure you were ok but you declined and said you'd call them both when you got home. Big Jo said to just call his home phone because Nate would be coming over tonight anyway, and if they didn't make it there before you called Dia was already at home and would pass the message along. You'll probably still try and give the shop a call if Dia answers, it wouldn't sit right with you if you wound everyone up just to not and at least try to settle their nerves.
With one final check of you car, the men even going so far as to lift seats up and feel under them, they sent you off. You drove carefully on the road tonight, ready to pull off into the shoulder at the slightest hint that something was wrong. Not even the radio was on something that you really didn't like driving without, but if there was the chance for you to catch a shift in tone of the machine you wanted to. Eventually you did end up making it home in one piece and you had called the Cowell family home, from the safety of your car, and got a spazztic eleven year old asking if you'd made it home alright. It took a little bit of coaxing but Little Jo calmed down and shouted to her parents that you were on the phone and alright.
“Kid,” looks like Big Jo took the phone away from Little Jo, “Everything ok on the drive.” Big Jo could hear the movement and shutting of your car door, he'd have to say he was relieved you waited until you were on the phone before exiting. He knew you lived out past the quiet zone in Old Lydia's house. A fact that did little for the unease he felt when he thought you were being watched.
“Oh, yea drive was fine, too quiet but fine.” you said simply as you began circling the cottage. Nothing seemed out of place on the outside, even looking above eye level where people tended to get sloppy in stalking or home invasion cases, everything seemed fine.
“Hope you don't mind if I keep you for a bit.” You had just unlocked your door and stepped in.
“Nah, kid 's fine.” you give a hum of acknowledgment as you look through the kitchen in cabinets, under cupboards, and even under the table.
“You're a smart kid.” he's taken that fatherly overtone that makes you roll your eyes. You understand the sentiment of parents and parental figures having pride in their child or ward but it's always been so weird to you when they feel the need to bring it up. Especially when they bring it up in situations that are dangerous, like can you not make it sound like someone's about to die.
Finding nothing in the living room, hall closet or bathroom you make sure all the windows are locked and dowels are in place to keep them from opening. And you double check that both the back and front doors are secured. You can hear the hushed whispers on the other end of the line, Dia must have just found out about your car, as you rustle through your kitchen utensil drawers taking out two forks before you make your way to your bedroom.
Once in your room you checked your closet and under your bed. Finding nothing you  went to the window in your room, the one right by your bed, you checked the lock, secured it in place with two dowels, and then covered it throwing a thick blanket over the curtain rod to ensure no one would be viewing you in your sleep or the precautions you were about to do. Turing around and locking your bedroom door you then jam one fork into the closed door crease, right below the locking mechanism, and jammed the other fork perpendicular through the prongs. You attempted to open the door with all your weight but only could get an inch in before the forks would stop more movement.
“Kid you alright over there?” it's rushed, he probably heard the commotion with your make shift lock.
“Yea, just had to add another lock to the door.” you trust the Cowell's but you understand how stupid it'd be to let them know exactly how you were defending yourself. Even if it wasn't them there's no telling if the person who broke into your car was outside and just good at hiding. You could also be too jumpy from your true crime shows but you figure it's better to be safe.
“I think everything's good Big Jo.” taking a final glance around your room eye's landing on the bed, “Think I'm even ready to go to sleep tonight too.” a small half laugh leaves your mouth.
“Alright kid, you call if you need anything got it.” it's an order not a request.
“Got it, good night.” Big Jo might think that'd been rude coming from anyone else but from you he can only roll his eyes at the brevity and the dial tone he's met with. He has his own sweep to do, if they were targeting his employee there was a reason. He hasn't had any problems since coming to Kepler but someone always eventually comes along who can't take a hint.
Even combing through your home with Big Jo on the line you didn't feel safe having your bed by the window anymore and moved it away and in front of the closet door. You'd rearrange your room later but for tonight this would have to do. By some grace of god you were actually able to shut your brain down tonight and rest. Maybe it was the excitement and merriment from hanging out with the Cowells or more likely the situation you find yourself in of perhaps being a target for something insidious.
Whatever the case may be you are off to the land of dreams before you know it. And unbeknownst to you the same eyes from this morning watch your home. They may not have seen what you did in there but they'd be sure to catch you when you come out. They'll wait all night to catch you if they have to.

The Wrapping
In my last story, I wanted to write a dark thriller-ish story with a villainous protagonist, but I wanted this story to be a whole lot more wholesome (though still devious) for the holidays! It’s kind of silly and not as hot tbh, but hopefully it’s kind of fun for someone. It’s been one hell of a year, so here’s to a better 2021. Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays y’all! Stay safe, and make sure no one you’re close to is plotting to suitify you! ;)
edit: Oh crap, I totally forgot to post this yesterday! Here it is though, my message stays the same!
-----------------------------------------------------
I sighed as I listened to the mundane tapping of fingers on keyboards, nails hitting the desk, pens clicking. Over and over, my head rang with the same sounds throughout the morning. No one who was here wanted to be here. Except perhaps my boss. That piece of shit put us all to work instead of giving us the holidays off. Only reason he might be happy to be here is probably because, if his wife has been hearing any of the rumors regarding his interactions with the female employees of our company, I’m assuming their marriage is disastrous.
I thought I’d be able to relax at home, spend Christmas with my boyfriend, Craig. We’ve been together for a couple of years now, and this was our first year living together. Our first Christmas spent together. The last one, we had both flown home to see our parents, splitting up.
But of course, my piece of shit boss had called me up. Told me to come in and work...subtly threatened unemployment if I objected. I wanted to quit right  then and there, but money was tight and I knew how much Craig and I could use the cash. I had to break the news to Craig, but he was understanding. He promised that we’d open up presents tonight, or we’d open them up tomorrow if I was too tired. It was heartwarming to hear the support loved one, but made the act of going to work the next day no less grueling.
“Hey Lance, you get that call from boss too?” I jumped at the sound of my name being called and turned to see my coworker and one of the few friends I’ve made in the office, Trevor. He was a good lookin’ guy, though he only had a frustrated face at the moment.
Tumblr media
“Yeah. Fucking ridiculous.”
“Right? Sick of this fucking job. Frankly, I’m not even sure what I fucking do at this point,” he joked. A hint of a smile popped up on his face. He slapped me on the arm and got up, heading towards the bathroom. I closed my eyes and imagined what I’ll do with Craig. It was the only thing that could motivate me to keep up with my work.
----------------------------
Hours later, the sun was setting and an orange hue painted the sky. It was a surprisingly beautiful sunset, considering it was Christmas. I finally finished my work. I watched the tired people around me cleaning up their desks, disgruntled and ready to go home. I glanced over at Trevor’s desk and noted he was still missing...weird. I hadn’t seen him the entire day ever since he left to go to the restroom. I guessed he had wisened up and just left. I sure as hell wish I could afford to...I know Trevor came from a pretty wealthy background. But at least I could finally find some respite with the end of the day approaching.
Until I saw the secretary walking to my desk.
She placed her hands on my desk and looked me in the eye, almost remorsefully.
“Mr. Campbell would like to speak to you.”
My heart sunk as I realized I’ll be spending more time in this shithole instead of celebrating the holidays with my boyfriend. I slumped in my chair and nodded to the secretary. She left me and I cleaned my act up. Surely it must be something quick, right? I couldn’t imagine him calling me in at the end like this for any reason.
Walking over to Mr. Campbell’s office, I opened the door and saw my dapper boss staring at me intimidatingly.
Tumblr media
“Hello, Lance. I’m sure this little meeting may come as a surprise. Take a seat, won’t you?” He motioned towards a chair opposite from his desk, while seating himself in a larger one.
“I know you might be a little confused as to why I called you in. But let me assure it’s nothing bad.” He smiled at me, something I had never seen before on his face. He always looked menacing and unwelcoming. But right in this moment, something seemed different.
“I just wanted to give you this for being an outstanding part of this office. You’ve always been productive and loyal to this business. You deserve proper compensation. Especially for coming in on Christmas.”
From behind his desk, he pulled out a fairly large box, wrapped in a snowman-covered paper, perhaps the size of my torso, and slid it across the desk. I cautiously took the box, wondering what the catch was. There was no way he decided to just randomly give me this out of kindness or gratefulness. Not Mr. Campbell. This is the abusive boss who makes people work on Christmas, threaten their jobs and their records, and, allegedly, numerous women have quit and spoken up on him firing them if they did not oblige to sexual favors. On top of that, why the hell is he only giving this to me? Still, he was my boss for now, and I had to appeal to him.
“...Er, thanks, Mr. Campbell. I appreciate the gift. I’ll make sure-”
“Why don’t you open it?”
“Right here? Right now?”
“Yes. Open it. I want you to see it.”
Confused, I still obeyed and started to rip the wrapping paper off. I glanced up to give the boss an acknowledging smile as I lifted the lid up. I found a folded up suit and tie, along with pants.
“Clothing, Mr. Campbell?” I tried to feign gratitude with a hesitant smile.
“Keep going.”
I lifted the clothing and saw an ID on top of a peach colored object. On the ID, I saw a picture of...Trevor. A chill ran across my spine as I felt the peace colored object...it felt like skin. I pulled it out and lo and behold...it was Trevor in the form of a flimsy suit.
“Is this some kind of...costume?” The thing gave me the creeps, but I couldn’t defy my curiosity.
“You could say that.”
“Was that...you earlier then?”
A grim glare shot across Mr. Campbell’s face. “No.”
“Then...what did you do to Trevor?” My voice quivered as a ton of horrific scenes ran through my head.
“It was just an injection. Don’t worry, he’ll be fine.” He pulled out what looked like pink stickers. “All you do is slap these magic tags on, and he’ll be restored within an hour. Sorry to alarm you.”
A sigh of relief escaped my mouth, until Mr. Campbell said, “Why don’t you put him on right now?”
“What? Right here? I don’t even know-”
“Take your clothes off. Stretch open the mouth. You can figure out the rest.”
Something told me I didn’t have a choice. I laid the suit on the floor and started to pull out of my clothing, tossing it over the chair. I grabbed the Trevor suit and dipped my toes into the mouth. Surprisingly, it was soft and comfortable. I slipped into the legs and did a few test jumps. Mr. Campbell observed closely as the suit matched my form. I squeezed my way into the rest of the suit before pulling the face over my own, before a painful ache rushed through my body. Suddenly, a lifetime of memories flooded my mind. I recalled feeling a prick in the neck before everything went black...I wasn’t exactly sure what to say to Mr. Campbell.
“Is there something you would like me to do with this?” Trevor’s voice escaped my throat! It was like I was him entirely. But why did Mr. Campbell want me in this suit? I was confused on what to do now. I stood there awkwardly, naked with an admittedly sexier body. Mr. Campbell walked around his desk and came up to me.
“Why don’t you unwrap your second present?” He grabbed my crotch, though I immediately relented and backed up.
“I’m sorry Mr. Campbell, but I’ve got a boyfriend, and frankly, this is a little weird...”
“Don’t you want to provide for him?” I gulped, knowing my job was on the line. Craig would understand, he always does.
I started to unbutton Mr. Campbell’s jacket and slid it off of him. The white button-up was already partially open, displaying the man’s hairy chest. Despite how awful my boss was, I confessed I considered him an attractive man. I pulled off the shirt and was down to his pants. I looked at him, unsure if he wanted me to go all the way. He nodded, urging me to take it all off. I unbuckled his belt and slid it out, the pants visibly loosened and slipped down with ease. I looked up for another nod of approval before removing his shoes and socks, smelling the subtle rankness of his feet. Finally, i slipped his underwear down, and a lengthy member dropped in front of me. I examined the man in front of me, up and down. Were these the kind of sexual favors my boss wanted? Was he interested in men?
“Why don’t you keep going?”
I raised an eyebrow at him, dumbfounded. “What?”
“Keep going.” He walked closer to me, sensually looking me in the eye.
I couldn’t quite grasp what he meant, until he tugged at his cheek, revealing something else inside. I rubbed Mr. Campbell’s face and he closed his eyes, groaning in pleasure. Slowly tracing down his face, I hooked my fingers under his lips and started to stretch the mouth open. I could feel the scruffy facial hair move under my fingers as I tugged at his face, the face distorting as a familiar face was revealed under Mr. Campbell’s face.
“Craig?” I was absolutely speechless as I slipped off the entire face of my boss. The upper half of the face landed in a heap behind him, while the chin lay across his chest. I backed up in shock at the spectacle before me!
Craig gave me a devious smile and started to rip the skin off of himself. Still using Mr. Campbell’s hands, he grabbed at the mouth around his neck and started to pull. As he did, the skin started to give, and he started to rip it off, like wrapping. Truly like a Christmas gift! The face split in half and he tugged towards his left arm. With a forceful motion, the arm sleeve ripped right off and he tossed it towards onto the desk, the fingers hanging over the side as they flopped around. He continued to rip the other side off as the suit seemingly got shredded. With the torso hanging over his hip, the torn up skinsuit hung onto the cock in pieces, the face hanging by the side while the right hand of the suit laying flatly on the ground. Craig heaved as he pulled the rest of it off violently, further shredding the skin until it lay as a mess on the floor. He picked up it and slung the mangled skinsuit onto the desk.
“Merry Christmas, babe!” He held me by my hips and kissed me.
“Craig, what the hell is this?”
“I bought us some of these serums, and figured they would make a nice gift. I didn’t originally plan to use it on these guys in specific, but when you got that call and told me about your shitty boss...I figured we could get a bit of revenge. Plus, you’ve told me about Trevor being hot. So I figured, why the hell not?”
“But what about Mr. Campbell? You ripped him up!”
“Don’t worry, trust me, some tape and those little sticker things he showed...he’ll be back. And he’ll be humbled.”
He went back behind the desk and pulled out a paper and slid it over to me. I skimmed through it...this was a document giving the company to me!
“Oh my God! What the fuck? This is...”
“Yep. I always said you’d make a great leader. And whenever your coworkers come by to hang out with us, you have no clue what they say about you. They’re gonna love you. And Mr. Campbell over here, signed the document. Hopefully, he takes the time off to reimagine himself as a better man. All you gotta do is sign it yourself.” He rolled a pen over and I held it within my hand. I scoured through Trevor’s thoughts, and he had said some of the sweetest things about me, and his conversations with our colleagues suggested that maybe I could be the one  to make this shithole better. I brought the pen to the paper and voila, my signature was on it.
“You get to be the boss now, Lance.” Craig got up and came to embrace me. I was too stunned at everything happening to give him much of a response. “You can make this place so much better next year. But for now, why don’t we enjoy that sexy suit you’re in?” He started to kiss me, and I returned the favor. I pulled back for a second and looked Craig in the eyes.
“This is the best Christmas ever...Why don’t I give you my present now?” I gave him a suggestive look, rubbing up against against him. I pushed him down across the desk and whispered into his ear, “I love you, babe. Merry Christmas.”

oh mein gott zis schoolvork is full of brainenkillen
"this is the story of how i died" <- every grad student ever
i'm so tired my brain could fall out and i wouldn't notice
my day was fine! great! until i got to joel's and checked my email and saw that discover still didn't have my information updated, so i called them and they checked the national student clearinghouse and northeastern still hadn't updated it, so o had to call northeastern, and i waited on the phone for a half an hour when i needed to be doing my homework, so i was upset and crying and anxious and stressed so i called my mom and told her and gave her the phone number and my ID number because i didn't have the time to be doing that because i literally didn't have the time for it because of my assignments, and i did my best to stop stressing and like, stop feeling guilty because my sister offered to make the payments that discover has charged to my account even though i'm in school, and that makes me feel bad because i'm always the one who needs help because i make no money and i'm broke and i have so many problems and i can't afford any of them never mind fix them, so i had to stop thinking about that and the best way of doing that besides napping, i've discovered, is reading about terrorism, which - great news! - was something i needed to do anyway! so i read a little before class and i was in class and lamented my woes to my classmates and professor and he said "if there was one person i could call for you, who would it be? i may have one silver bullet to shoot" and i almost cried because i love this guy, he's an excellent professor and he's kind and understanding and so so helpful and he's gonna talk to my advisor who is also not responding to me to see if she can call the people who can change my verification status and hopefully that'll be resolved tomorrow because this sword is hanging over my head and it's gonna fuckin hurt to the tune of $2500 if i don't get it done asap, which, HA, i don't have because i'm broke as fuck.
i was able to finish my discussion board post after class, even though i ended up missing game tonight because i was working on it. i think it's good. it's long, but it's good. it's organized and it flows well. it's well-divided. blah.
i just wanna sleep for a million years. i've been such a mess today, i feel like i deserve it.
i want cuddles from the joel. he's still up working on something, but i hope he comes and hugs me soon. i require affection.
but i did get to tell my therapist this morning that i like the person i am, and that i've accepted my disabilities and illnesses as part of who i am, that they've shaped the person i am now and that i'm not worse for it, but that i'm better for it and stronger for acknowledging it as opposed to letting it take me over. so that's good.
and momma got me some more color today, for my wardrobe, and i gotta also figure out if i'm gonna be able to go on vacation with my momma or not. i may go for a few days and come back. i think that'll be good.

Heyyyy :) I saw your last post w dataxreader, and I was wondering if you’d do another? I LOVED it 😍 maybe one where reader and data aren’t in a relationship yet, but he gets super jealous when someone hits on reader, and then mutual feelings come to light? Eeeek thank you, and if u don’t wanna do this one right away I understand cause u just did one, but thank u anyway, and I love your writing ♥️
🖤 Malfunction 💛
Tumblr media
Summary: When a new Ensign takes a romantic interest in you, a new light begins to shine on the seemingly simple relationship between you and your closest friend Data.
Requests are open!
~x~
Data had always preferred working with you.
You understood the nuances of his coding and his odd personality in ways no other officer ever had. Where most would have been confused and perhaps even discomforted by his unusual behavior, you had always found it fascinating, even going so far as telling him it was charming.
“I like hearing things from your perspective. You say such wonderful things, Data.” You had laughed, bumping his elbow with your own as you and him worked for hours side by side.
You were his partner, the completing half of his equation. No one else would get the question right. He needed you, and you needed him.
“Good morning, Data.” You smiled warmly, sliding into his side as you began your shifts together as you always had, greeting him the same way you always had before, kind and soft.
“Good morning, (F/N).” He welcomed you back, cordial and quiet.
Mornings were the moments you always shared together, the small smiles and quick touches which insinuated more but never dared to be recognized aloud.
“I barely slept last night.” You sighed deeply, gently resting your head against his shoulder as your eyes fluttered shut. You reminded him of the Renaissance angels he had often seen in ancient Earth paintings. He should do a painting of you.
“Perhaps a visit to Dr. Crusher would be beneficial.” Data commented idly, refusing to move even slightly, hoping it might persuade you to keep your head buried in the crook of his neck for even a millisecond longer.
Touching you was right. Being with you was right. It was unexplainable, but it was akin to answering a complicated question correctly, or finishing a long project. It was what he had been made to do.
“Hey beautiful.” An unknown voice interrupted Data’s rampant thoughts, causing his golden eyes to flicker toward this intruder into you and his peaceful morning.
“Oh. Hey, Brad.” You slightly sighed, bowing your head politely at him before returning to your work.
“A couple of friends and I are having a party tonight at Ten Forward. I’d love for you to be there.” He grinned, his smile all teeth and his eyes shimmering a bit too brightly.
“A party in Ten Forward. I had not heard of this before now.” Data easily inserted himself into the conversation, cocking his head as he stared questioningly at the Ensign.
“Oh, uh, yeah.” Brad rubbed his neck awkwardly, clearly uncomfortable around the android. “There’ll be girls there too. If you’re even into that sort of thing…”
Data missed your eyes shooting towards his, a hopeful but anxious look dancing across your face. You had wanted to admit your feelings to your friend for months now, but your anxieties about his own feelings had always held you back. How could he possibly be interested in other people in such a way? He didn’t even have emotions.
“Tell your friends I will be there.” He smiled, over-animatedly winking as he returned to his work, a small but proud smile on his face. He needed to watch over you and make sure this Brad didn’t try anything which might make you uncomfortable. You were his partner to care for, he nodded satisfactorily within his head, as if needing to justify his abnormal behavior to himself.
You could feel your heart shatter. Data wanted to go to Brad’s stupid party? To pick up girls? You were planning on simply turning the man down and having a quiet night in, but now that Data was going…
“Well you can count me in too.” You had to force yourself to smile, fighting the urge to gag at the way Brad licked his lips and winked at your response. He sauntered away like the cat who had caught the canary, your hands itching to strangle him as you twisted back to your work station, a cheesy smile still plastered to your face.
“Are you interested in Brad sexually?” Data asked with a pleasant smile.
Your mouth fell open, your breath flooding out of you as a wild blush stained your cheeks, hot and embarrassing. You didn’t know what to say, you couldn’t even breathe!
“W-Why’s any of that your business!” You half-shouted, darting away before he could pry any deeper.
You couldn’t handle it if Data found out you were in love with him.
Ah. Data mused, each and every one of his circuits freezing on one overly-simple thought. It would appear you loved him.
~x~
You hadn’t spoken to Data all day. You were too ashamed to even consider facing him. Running away in the middle of your shift because of your personal feelings was not something a professional Starfleet officer did.
“If I may be so bold,” A familiar voice began, soft and warm in its cantor, “You are positively ravishing this evening.”
Data stood before you, an out-of-character smirk striking daringly across his face as he took your hand in his, lightly grazing his lips against your knuckles.
“Data!” You gasped, barely able to keep yourself from becoming a melted mess.
“What are we doing talking over here when we could be dancing over there?” He smirked, grabbing your waist as he pulled you by the hand towards the dance floor, a grace to his every step.
“What happened to you Data?” You asked, practically breathless.
“I downloaded some new personalities appropriate for such an event.” He dipped you low, brushing his nose against yours as he started deeply into your eyes. “Are you enjoying me?”
You couldn’t help but laugh then, carefree and dripping with affection.
You loved this man.
“Yes, Data. I always enjoy you.” You grinned, wrapping your arms around his neck right in the middle of the dance floor.
Data felt accomplished. Everything was as it should be. You were always meant to be with him, and no one else. It was just what made sense.
You were his closest friend.
“Data, there’s something I’ve always wanted to tell you, but I’ve never really been able to.” You grasped his hand tighter in yours, unable to remove your eyes from the floor.
“What is it?” He asked, patient and quiet.
“Pardon to interrupt, but I couldn’t let you keep this beauty all to yourself for the whole night.” Brad smiled confidently, bending his face closer to yours as he attempted to slide between you and Data.
Data refused to budge, pulling you closer against his body. He barely stopped himself from shoving the Ensign across the room.
What was going through his systems? The more Brad talked to you the more Data wanted to never see his face again. The closer Brad got to you the closer Data needed to be to you instead, as if to reassure himself of something.
Any smiles you afforded Brad were meant to be his. He didn’t want you to look at anyone but him.
But such thoughts could only be defined as possessiveness. Something Data knew was inappropriate for friendships.
He released you, giving you one last glance before quickly leaving Ten Forward. He couldn’t bear to see his hands on you, to see the love which would pour out of your eyes for the handsome human, something Data could never compare to.
People did not fall in love with androids.
Even as his system screamed at him to correct things, to take you in his arms and kick Brad halfway back to Earth, he refused to listen. With some simple rewiring he could set his head back on straight.
You were his friend. Somewhere along the way his pathways must have set the wrong link down, convincing himself you might be something more.
His feelings for you were nothing more than a malfunction.
You watched as Data stormed away, confused and hurt by his behavior. One moment he looked ready to clock Brad and the next he was almost throwing you at him.
Did he think you wanted the slime bag?
“He’s never not said goodbye to me.” You muttered almost to yourself, staring after your best friend.
“Maybe he just forgot to.” Brad joked, grabbing you by the hips. “Let’s stop talking about that android and start talking about us.”
You scoffed at him, harshly shoving him away as you ran after Data. You were going to tell him no matter what it took, everyone else on this ship be damned.
You eventually found him in Keiko O’Brien’s garden, his face almost forlorn as he gently caressed an orchid in full bloom.
“Data?” You asked quietly, not wishing to startle him even though you knew that was impossible.
He turned his head to yours, almost in disbelief. “Where is Brad?”
“I don’t know, he’s nobody I’m concerned about.” You stated clearly, stepping towards him. He was so tall, the way he gazed down upon you with such genuine confusion causing you to smother a giggle.
“I do not understand, but it is not a topic I wish to hear more about.” He admitted, returning to his flower.
“And why is that?” You asked hopefully, bunching your dress between your fingers.
He glanced back at you, face blank as he simply contemplated himself, the color of your hair and the look on your face enough to push him over the edge.
“Because I am malfunctioning.” He said simply, stock still as he waited for your response.
You took his hand in your own, holding it as gently as a bird as you squeezed it to your chest. “What if I told you I was malfunctioning too?”
His brows furrowed across his face. “Then we must see Dr. Crusher at once!”
Your jaw dropped, disbelief to the point of amusement dancing across your face as you watched the worry on his face slowly seep into bewilderment.
“I’m not talking about my health, Data.” You laughed, sliding your fingers against his scalp as you pressed your body flush to his. “I’m telling you I’m in love with you.”
He didn’t need to be told twice.
Before you could react he wrapped his arms tightly around your waist, pressing his lips against yours hard enough to bruise. He wanted you so badly in that moment he had forgotten to restrain himself, pressing against you fervently as he began to kiss the corner of your mouth, sucking and biting his way to your neck.
He couldn’t believe you would say such a thing to him, that you would allow him to do this. It was such a thrilling and new interaction he couldn’t get enough of it.
Without hesitation he pulled your flesh between his teeth, proudly marking you as his as he bruised your neck.
“Data…” You moaned, unable to do anything but limply hold onto him, knowing he would never let you fall.
“My (Y/N).” He whispered happily against your hickey, giving it a quick kiss, before standing back up properly, still refusing to release you from his hold.
Your whole body felt like jelly. Just from a few kisses Data had swooned you off your feet.
“You are so handsome.” You sighed, not knowing anything else to say but exactly what had been on your mind since you had first met the android.
“And you are so beautiful.” He murmured back gently, knowing he would spend the rest of his life saying those words.

Warnings: consensual noncon, mentions of being burnt, stabbing and blood; no prep penetration, disrespectful use of the word "whore", blackmail, psychological abuse?, Mineta (nuff said) he gets what's comin to him
You’re in the doctor’s office getting a regular checkup when you overhear the nurses in the station next to you talking.
“Look! They posted the new hero rankings today.”
“I forgot those were today, too bad they can’t have the conference during the pandemic. I miss seeing Deku all cute and blushing.”
“FUCK” In your brief moment of panic you forgot where you were. You cringe and look at the nurses, trying your best not to look like you were gonna be sick. “Sorry ladies, didn’t mean to yell.” No point in offering an explanation. You wouldn’t be able to tell them anything anyway.
As you very impatiently wait for your blood results to come back you check the tacky red cell phone you have to keep with you at all times. You had put it on silent since you were in the doctor’s office and you were glad you did. Taking a quick look at your screen had your stomach dropping into your ass.
M.M: Gonna move my appointment up to today.
M.M: You better get ready. I’m not happy.
M.M: I’m sure you saw the postings. Number 36.
M.M: I made sure to pay for any accidents in advance.
M.M: I’ll see you tonight.
Why does he have to be so fucking horrible? Accidents my ass.
The messages make your skin crawl, you should have figured the hero rankings would piss him off but honestly you never paid enough attention. With a heavy sigh you opened up your web browser and pull up the list.
“Number 36...number 36…. Number 36…” When you finally reached the hero you were looking for, you let out a sigh.
Hero Ranking Number 36: The Rainy Season Hero Froppy
Well at least you had her outfit already, for some reason she was one your client asked for a lot. Not that you wanted to ask him why, not with the way his black eyes looked whenever he saw you dressed up like her.
I don’t know if I should feel glad that he isn’t actually taking this out on her. Or upset that I’ve had to deal with this for months.
“L/N, Y/N?” The doctor walks up holding their clipboard and closing the privacy screen. Your file almost too much for the metal clip at the top. “Your test results came back negative and your burns seem to have healed very well. I would tell you that any strenuous activity should be avoided but we both know you can’t do that.”
Their poor attempt at humor had your stomach rolling. “Haha anyways Doc, I think I’m gonna need another medkit to take home today. I can schedule my next appointment online, right?”
You can’t handle the thinly veiled pity in their eyes and look down, reaching over to your side to grab your purse. You hear them moving around and a dark blue plastic box is put on your lap.
“If I remember correctly this is your favorite color, right? You are able schedule an appointment online but if you would like I can schedule it for you. How about in two days? Afternoon work for you?”
You look up after clutching the kit to your chest, you know they are just trying to be nice. All of the nurses are especially nice to you and as endearing as it might be to some people, to you it just feels dirty.
“Afternoon is perfect, thanks Doc.” You get up and walk towards the privacy screen. Before leaving you stop for a moment “Blue ismy favorite color.”
As you make your way back to your living quarters you scroll through the internet looking at every picture of the Pro-Hero Froppy you can find. Your quirk can project a person’s desires onto your body by reading them in their eyes. It’s easier when the person has a clear view of what or who they want. However, your client’s desires are such a jumbled mess that it’s easier if you know what it is beforehand.
Hopefully, I can act like her enough that I don’t have to look at his desires this time. I can’t stand how disgusting they make me feel.
You pass by a few familiar faces on your way back to your rooms but don’t pay them any mind. They in turn leave you alone, most of them knowing that when you have that look on your face you were in a mood.When you first were offered a position at the brothel you thought it would be easy money. You had been stripping for several years, known for how you looked different to everyone who saw your dancing. The beautiful, enchanting, flexible Erised. You had built up your quirks ability to be able to project almost a full clubs worth of desires. Sure, it caused extreme fatigue and chronic migraines but the money you raked in was well worth it.
Tumblr media
A few months ago
After an especially successful night a patron walks up to you after you leave the stage.
“I have a job opportunity for you, courtesy of my employer.” He hands you a card you read “Heroes Consulting Agency” in bold silver letters.
“I’m a stripper hun, not sure I can do the type of consulting you’re looking for.” You go to hand it back, but they put their hand up.
“I’m afraid I must insist, why don’t we treat you to lunch and you can listen to our proposal?”
You put your hand back down and study them. They are dressed in a white button up with a vest, definitely out of place in a strip club. You would look in their eyes, but they didn’t really have any, their whole body seemed to be made of dark smoke. You don’t work in the nicest of places so someone with their kind of full body quirk isn’t unusual.
“Alright, I give. I’m not really one to pass up free food.” The rational side of your brain is telling you that you have more than enough money to buy your own food but the stingy part telling you to take it while you can is a little louder.
“Excellent choice Miss Erised. Someone will meet you at the address on that card tomorrow at around 5pm? Should give you enough time to recover from the side effects of your quirk.” They give a slight bow and walk off towards the exit, a large something getting up from a seat and following closely behind.
Sam, one of the waitresses walks up to you with a tray filled with drinks. Her normally short stature elevated with high heeled leather boots. “Did you know that person Y/N?”
Oh man, I do not have the energy for this.
You turn to her and survey the tray before grabbing something that looked like a fruity cocktail. “No, but they offered me a job. Gonna go have lunch with them tomorrow.” Sipping from the glass you tuck the card into your bra, making sure to not show it to the girl.
“That’s weird, don’t they know you’re a stripper? What is someone dressed that nicely want to hire you for? Also did that person look familiar to you or is that just me?” Any normal person wouldn’t be able to keep up with her unending questions, but you had known her for years. The tray in her hands tips dangerously to the left but she balances it out without a second thought.
Guess she does have to be quick on her toes to be a waitress at a strip club.
“They were here for my dance so yes they do know, either way I’m getting free food so…”
She huffs, aware of your attitude for anything “free”.
You finish the drink and place the empty glass back taking a couple bills from your bag and tucking them into her apron.
“Thanks for the drink Sam, but I gotta leave before my headache hits.” You walk off before she can say anything further. You really wanna be nice to her but her endless energy really gets on your nerves sometimes.
By the time you make it to your modest apartment, you can feel the pain starting behind your eyes. You drop your stuff by the door without turning on any lights and walk to the box safe hidden in the kitchen. After you make sure all the money is secure you grab a glass of water and head to the bedroom. The bottle of pain killers already set out on your nightstand. You should really take a shower but for now, you strip down, take a few pills, drink the whole glass of water, and lay down. It takes a while for the pills to kick in but once they do you finally fall asleep.
When you finally wake up the next morning your headache is gone, and you have to piss like no one’s business. You grumble as you stretch your tight sore muscles and get up to go to the bathroom. After taking care of business, you get into some light clothes and walk into the kitchen to make some food. Thankfully, you had some leftover rice and spam in the fridge, so you pop that in the microwave. You put the kettle on for some green tea and down another glass of water as it heats up.
Remembering the offer from yesterday and the promise of free food you pad over to your pile of things by the door and grab their card. It’s sleek looking with a plain black background and silver lettering. The address isn’t something you recognize right away so you look it up on your phone.
“What the fuck?” Why is this place in a business park?
You scroll down and check the street view; the building is a high rise surrounded by a mostly empty parking lot. The entrance of the building is blurred, probably to keep the privacy of anyone entering or exiting.
“Well, I guess it’s a nice gig. Better dress the part.” Or maybe you’re gonna get murdered.
“Wow, I really have to stop watching all those true crime shows.” You put the card in your wallet and head back to the kitchen. The microwave beeps and the kettle whistles shortly after. When you’re done eating you put the dishes in the sink to soak and head to the bathroom to finally take a shower.
By the time you have finished showering the whole bathroom is filled with steam and your body has a pink flush to it. You open the door to air it out and finish cleaning up for the day. Your outfit consists of your nicest jeans with ankle boots, a long sleeve blouse and a dark cardigan. You grab one of your smaller over the shoulder purses and leave your apartment.
One of the things you allowed yourself to really splurge on was a car. Public transportation was not as reliable as it could be and with your hours not the safest either.
By the time you make it to the building the sun is starting to set, giving the sky beautiful pink to blue coloring. As you park and get out of your car a young woman walks up to you.
“Welcome Miss Erised! Please follow me and I will escort you through the building.” The woman’s blonde hair is in two messy buns, her face childlike. Her voice was high pitched enough to grate on your nerves a bit, but you ignored it.
As you follow the person through the lobby you take a glance around. Looks like a high-end hotel lobby. There is a front desk area with a marble counter top, women that are dressed in matching button ups with their hair up in buns or ponytails. Random potted plants and small trees dot the area, and a nice chandelier hangs in the middle of the ceiling. No one besides the women at the front desk are in the area.
“Doesn’t seem to be busy right now.” You didn’t even really mean for her to hear you, but she did, and you sounded like an asshole.
They turn their head slightly with a knowing smirk. “It would seem that way wouldn’t it?”
Conversation halts while you stand in the elevator which you were thankful for. They had chosen a floor close to the middle of the building, which gave you just enough time to rethink your life choices.
By the time you got to your floor you are tired of the silence. Normally you hate small talk, but you figured you would give it a shot. “Do you like your job?”
The woman turns to you and smiles, here canines peeking out a bit while shrugging her shoulders. “It keeps me busy, plus I get to make so many friends.” The gleam in her eyes flashes menacingly for a quick second, you decide to pretend you didn’t see it.
As you get to the end of the hall, she opens a door and gestures you inside, closing it behind you. There is a nice desk to the left of the door, other than that the room is sparce. The person sitting in the chair has quite an eclectic look about him. Grey hair parted to the side, shrew eyes behind circular wire rimmed glasses, a gold chain peeks out from the slightly open white button up with a purple blazer. He reeks of cigarette smoke the evidence of his habit tossed into the half-filled ash tray on the desk.
“So nice of you to join me Miss Y/N. Why don’t you have a seat, we can talk about your new position.” He gestures to the only other chair a smirk on his face that shows of his missing tooth.
“I haven’t accepted the job yet Giran, and I thought I told you I don’t want to work for you.” You aren’t used to seeing him in this type of place. But you do know him so there is no need to put on a show. You lean back in the chair and cross your arms.
“How rude of me, you won’t be working for me, but I have been given authority to hire for this company.”
You don’t bat an eye; most large companies use outside help for hiring. “What is this position you would like offer me?”
“This company provides heroes with a way to alleviate their… desires in a safe and discrete way.”
“So, you hire prostitutes for heroes to have sex without worrying about anyone telling the press about it.”
“That is correct.”
“I don’t know if your just stupid or if you forgot but I’m a stripper not a hooker.” You sit up in your chair fully ready to leave the room.
“They would provide you with a fully furnished apartment, medical coverage with 24/7 access to their fully trained medical staff. Any cash given to you by your clients you can keep, however they would take a percentage out of the money they initially pay for your services.”
“Let’s say I’m a little interested, how much is the initial pay for my services?” You want to deny the offer, nothing wrong with having sex for money but it isn’t really your thing.
Giran doesn’t answer right away, instead putting out what is left of his cigarette only to pull another one out of his blazer and lighting it up. “The starting hourly rate is $2,500 an hour, they would take 30 percent from that.”
Holy shit, that’s as much as I make in a day and I would be making it an hour? You keep your face neutral but something in your eyes must have tipped him off.
“You would start tomorrow; most clients keep a contract with their favorite employee and we actually have someone lined up for you already. He has extremely specific tastes and you are the perfect person to fill in.”
“I’ll have to talk to the club owner; would it be possible to start later?” You don’t want to seem to eager, especially not in front of him.
“I don’t see that as a problem, they can give you one week but that’s it.”
You stay silent, making it look like you’re thinking about it. After a moment you lean forward in your chair and stick your hand out. “Sounds like a deal to me.”
Giran grabs you hand and gives it a firm shake. “If you ever need help or have any questions call the number on the card. Now I believe you were offered dinner, let me take you to one of my favorite places.”
You let his hand go and rise from the chair. As Giran comes around the desk and walks towards the door, he stops for a moment and turns to you. “Welcome to the team.”
Dinner was actually genuinely nice; the food was good, and you were able to have a comfortable conversation with Giran. Of course, he didn’t tell you anything about himself, but you had no problems with that, you didn’t wanna share anything to personal about yourself either. He dropped you back off at your car after dinner and shook your hand again before driving off.
By the time you got home you had decided what you were gonna tell the club owner and mentally packed your apartment. Not wanting to take all of your things you moved most of it to a secure storage facility. Having had it for a few years already in order to store the overabundance of clothes you owned.
After the week was up you had quit your job and packed all of your belongings. You realize you don’t know where you are supposed to go so you pull out the card and call the number.
“Hello, how can I assist you?”
“Giran never told me where I would be moving my stuff to. Could you give me the address?” You pick at your nails while waiting for him to answer.
“Of course, Miss Erised. Will you be needing any assistance for your move?”
He sounds so polite; I wonder if he is always like this.
“No, I’ll be fine on my own thank you.”
He gives you the address and let you know that you can call if you need any additional information.
“Good luck Miss Erised.”
Tumblr media
When you get back to your apartment you immediately go into the shower and wash up, using the tea tree oil that Froppy had said she uses in an interview.
I don’t understand how people can like this stuff, but he gets easier to handle if I smell like those women.
When you are done you towel dry your hair and make sure to lotion your whole body. When your hair is dry enough you straighten it and leave it down. He likes it better when its down.
You go to your closet and rifle through until finding the very skimpy version of Froppys hero costume. All it really has in common with the original is the tan harness and the green with black and yellow stripes. Otherwise, it is a one-piece bikini without a crotch. You grab your black leather over the knee boots and get dressed. After checking the time, you give yourself a moment to mentally prepare.
I hate this, I hate him. Disgusting filthy little bug. A false hero, a plague. I can’t wait to leave this place.
Standing in the middle of your room you close your eyes and take deep breaths, allowing your consciousness to drift. You have found that the best way to endure these sessions is to detach yourself from the situation. Only focusing on the absolute necessary and maintaining the effects of your quirk. Giving yourself another minute to get into character you walk to the door joining your apartment to the “service room”.
Thankfully, he hasn’t shown up yet, you shut the door hearing the lock click into place, the door seamlessly vanishing into the wall. Sitting on the edge of the bed you face the door that Mineta will walk through and wait.
No matter how many times we do this I never lose the feeling of wanting to vomit while bathing in bleach.
When he walks in you see that he is wearing his hero costume, as atrocious as it is. He never really deviated from the original design. You immediately start your performance.
“Mineta? What am I doing here? kero” You clasp your hands together in front of your chest and look around frightfully.
“Hello Tsu, what a pleasant surprise to see you here.” He walks up, taking off his gloves and throwing them to the side.
“I don’t understand, do you know where- “Your sentence is cut off, pain in your cheek sharp and hot.
“I don’t believe I gave you permission to talk Miss thirty sixth hero.” He stands there with his hand still up as you cup your cheek and look up at him, the tears in your eyes real. He pulls his hand back again as if to slap you and you flinch.
“Good girl, now finish taking off my outfit for me.” Mineta walks back a few steps and holds his arms out. Your fingers are clumsy as you take it of piece by piece.
Mineta abruptly grabs a fist full of your hair and yanks your head back. You grab his hand with both of yours trying to ease his grip.
“Do you think if you do it slow enough, I’ll get bored and go away?” He pulls harder. “Huh? You really think you’re gonna get out of this don’t you.” He tosses you towards the bed and you scramble to get back on your feet.
The tears in your eyes have started to spill over and you start babbling. “Please let me go Mineta, I don’t know what I did but please pleasejust forgive me kero. I won’t tell anyone about this just please don’t hurt me kero.”
He doesn’t answer you, just finishes taking off his outfit before he is walking towards you again, a vicious gleam in his beady eyes.
You back up until the back of your legs hits the bed. You open your mouth to speak but before you can utter a single word, he slaps you again.
“I told you not to speak unless I told you to once already. Now I’m gonna have to punish you, aren’t I?” He shoves you onto the bed and follows, using his knees to push your legs open he sits up and gives himself a few pumps.” No need to prep you, I want this to hurt.”
You are sobbing at this point, your hands covering your face when you feel him push into you. A scream rips out of your throat and you reach forward to push him away.
“You know Tsu, these meetups have been the best. I’m thinking next time I will find the REAL you and have even more fun.” He closes his eyes a leans his head back, fully immersed in only getting himself off.
To engrossed in his own world, he doesn’t realize that you have gone still. Your tears have stopped, and you have pulled your hands back from him.
DISGUSTING
“Find the real me?”
VILE
You break character, bringing your full consciousness back. You voice is just a whisper at first, so he doesn’t hear you, doesn’t stop thrusting.
FALSE HERO
“Find the REAL me?!” You are screaming at him now.
He finally stops, hearing you the second time. For a second you see fear in his eyes before they fill with rage.
MONSTER
“Hey! You better start doing the job I paid you for, I don’t come here for you to question me.” He lifts his hand up, as if to slap you again. Before his hand comes down you grab it, squeezing until he yelps in pain.
This job is over, he isn’t worth keeping around anymore.
“You think I give a shit about a little piss ant like you?!” As you sit up, he yanks his arm away and pulls out of you. Stumbling back, he starts shaking a finger in your direction.
“You can’t talk to me like that! You’re just a whore!”
You dart forward before he can put more distance between you and grab him by the neck. As you pick him up you snarl and let your quirk fade away.
“I may be a whore but I not a monster like you. You are just a fake hero, a plague on this world and I will get rid of every single one of you.” You throw him onto the ground still holding on to his neck and squeeze.
Tumblr media
“In other news, Minoru Mineta also known as the pro hero Grape Juice has gone missing after several videos of him have gone viral. He was last seen leaving a brothel that has requested to remain nameless. The videos contain triggering scenes of the pro hero having relations with a prostitute while she is dressed in various hero suits the resemble his old female classmates. He even refers to them by name. The videos contain triggering images, and it is recommended to not seek them out. The original videos have since been taken down but are reuploaded onto the internet on several other sites. The prostitute shown in the videos has also gone missing. Any information on the whereabouts- “
The T.V. turns off, the voice of the news anchor no longer filling the dimly lit bar. The people present remain silent for a moment before a man with burns all over his body starts to laugh.
“You could have really fucked that up Doll. Good thing we got enough evidence.” You sneer at him, making sure you change your appearance to match your own desire. He flinches when he sees his own face.
“I wish you had cut him! There wasn’t enough blood to keep his appearance up for awfully long!” The young woman with two messy blond buns in her hair twirls a knife around.
“I’m terribly sorry Toga, but I didn’t have anything sharp with me.” You pick at your nails and look over at Kurogiri, who is busy pouring a glass of whiskey for Dabi. “Do I get a break after this one or do you and boss man have another gig for me?”

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.
My phone buzzed under my pillow causing me to stir lightly. A soft purr left my lips as I stretched. I hopped out of bed and turned off my alarm. Today is Friday, the last day of my first week at UA as a support corse teacher. Today was also special because the teachers are having a little party after school. I haven't met all of the teachers at UA high school but hopefully today will be my chance to get better aquatinted with everyone.
I strolled over to my bathroom to begin getting ready. I completed my morning routine before getting dressed. I put on my hero costume before having a quick breakfast and heading out. As I reached the school I began walking to my classroom, only to run into principle Nezu.
   "Hey there principal Nezu." I smiled and waved at him as he walked the hall sipping from his tea cup.
   "Well hello there ms (hero name)!" How are you?"
   "Pretty nervous about tonight actually" I said with a nervous chuckle. "Oh? Why so nervous?"
   "Well I haven't met all the teachers yet so the thought of meeting everyone at a party is pretty nerve racking."
   "Aah, I understand. Have a good one ms. (Hero name)."
   "You too." I entered the teachers lounge and began to put away my things at my desk. My good friend hound dog came into the teachers lounge and we greeted each other carrying on simple conversation. The teachers lounge intercom cut on stopping us in our little back and fourth.
   "Good morning teachers, tonight social event will be held in meeting room A starting at 5 pm. See you there and have a wonderful day."
Small sighs and groans were heard going around before midnight spoke. "Alright, who told Nezu about our party?" I kept my head down and bit the inside of my lip now realizing what I had done. To be fair I didn't know it was supposed to be a secret. I heard a small growl coming from next to me as I tried desperately to not turn around. He knew it was me, we've known each other for far too long. He's the one who helped me land my job at UA. Knowing hound dog would spaz on me I decided to jump ahead of the situation. I stepped out from my desk and bowed continuously as I spoke.
   "It was me everyone, I wasn't aware that the party was a secret. I apologize for my incompetence. I will make it up to all of you in any way that I can, I promise." There were some mumbles here and there, mainly about the tea Nezu brought but I turned back to my desk finished unpacking and headed to my classroom to start my day.
Time skip
   Immediately after school I headed to my room on campus to start preparing goodies for the party to try and smooth things over. With only a few hours to have everything ready, in the lounge and have time to get ready I had to move quick. I made onigiri, mochi, coffee milk tea with boba, tea sandwiches and tea cookies. I even brought a couple apple sauce pouches and juice pouches. As I finished making things one by one and I transported everything to the meeting room with the help of my amazing student Mei Hatsume and her brilliant gadgets. I rushed back to my room to do some light cleaning and self touch ups before heading over to the party.
   Not realizing how long I had taken, when I had arrived to the party most people were already there and enjoying the refreshments I made. There was tea also set out on the table that was barely touched. Not long after I showed up hound dog arrived. "Hey, I figure out how to make it up to everyone. I made refreshments, you should have some."  He grumbled and we talked for a little before he told me to at least eat a little of what I made. After all the cooking I wasn't that hungry. Not wanting to hear the loud barking for disregarding what he suggested I went to the front to get a coffee milk tea. As I was pouring other people around the table grabbed other refreshments. Suddenly a loud voice rang through the room.
   "Yo! Who made all these amazing snacks?!" The voice was unmistakable, present mic. The room continued its casual conversation so he blurted out again, this time even louder. "WHO MADE THESE DOPE SNACKS?!" Hound dog's growl could be heard across the room before he barked out. "(HERO NAME) DID YOU IDIOT, SHES RIGHT NEXT TO YOU AND ERASERHEAD!"
   Suddenly all eyes were on me as Nezu approached me. "Oh ms. (Hero name), thank you for making these wonderful refreshments. They compliment my tea so well. You're fitting right in at UA. Have some of the tea, you may like it."  He walked off and all conversation resumed. "The tea is good but it's always the same. Eventually you get tired of it." I turned my head to see eraserhead next to me.
   "Thanks for the advice, I'm (hero name)." He let out a chuckle. "Yeah I heard. Nice to meet you." He grabbed a cup of boba and a juice box before walking off. I stood around introducing myself to a few people here and there. Eventually I was in a corner drinking my boba and just watching. Getting to the bottom of my drink I went for the last juice box only to collide hands with someone else. I looked up to see eraser again. I chuckled as I placed my hand on the juice box. "Sorry, but you're not getting the last juice box."
   "Tch. I think I am." His voice was gruff as he also grabbed the juice box. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Are you willing to fight for it?"
   Before I knew it eraser and I had snuck off to the training arena with the juice box to find out who would be getting it. We sat down the juice box on the bleachers and moved down to the city area of the training arena.
  "First one to take down the other and reach the gate gets the juice box. Agreed? And since you're pretty well known and I'm aware of your quirk I'll at least tell you the name of mine." He sneered lightly under his breath causing me to glance up at him. "The name of my quirk is neko- neko, pretty self explanatory, no? So how about we get started?" I took my stance and so did he. "Sounds pretty rational to me."
   My ears twitched as he took his stance. My tail curled as my eyes changed from black to green. "Then let's begin." I immediately jumped as high as I could into the air dropping down into an ally. Hearing the sound of his infamous scarf following behind me I took off sprinting. I have to stay out of his line of vision. Hiding under one of the nearby buildings I watched him carefully. His demeanor calm almost as if this wasn't a challenge. He walked slowly through the ally his hair suddenly went up. He's using his quirk. His scarf went flying through the air followed by him. He landed on top of a light post with his scarf wrapped loosely around him.
   "I'm going to get that last juice box." He said as his hair stayed on end. But why? Why is continually using his quirk? It has to be draining, but why is he doing it?
   "Oh come on? You think so?" I stalked around the arena as I spoke. "Come on man, there's apple sauces left too. Did you even try them?"
   "I did, and they were quite enjoyable but I can't live without my juice boxes." I creeped closer and closer toward him as I spoke. "Well I hate to break it to you, but you may have to because I don't play fair." I jumped up behind him and wrapped my tail around his eyes as my claws grabbed onto him. I stood up and leaned back causing us both to fall toward the ground. Immediately using his scarf he wrapped it around the top of a high buildings. I sprinted up his scarf connected to the building. "I figured you out." I yanked on his scarf as hard as I could to send him flying as I pounced over toward the juice box. "Your quirk doesn't work on genetic mutations." Grabbing the juice box with my tail I poked the straw through and took a sip.
   I turned back around to eraser gathering his scarf with his quirk. A long tear was visable on his scarf. I immediately jumped down made my way to eraser. "I am very sorry, my deepest apologies. I didn't mean to damage your scarf, I should have filed down my claws. Please accept the juice box and my sincerest apologies." I frantically apologized as I held out the juice box to him with my tail. A chuckle left his lips as he gently touched my tail and pushed the juice box back towards me. "It's fine, I'm actually quite impressed. Keep the juice box, you won it fair and square." He turned to walk out, speaking before he walked away. "Your coffee boba is one of the best I’ve had by the way. We're sparring for that next."
   He disappeared as I took a sip of the juice box barely able to contain my excitement and hold back my smile. I just got to spar with THE eraser head.
   Two days later
   It was now monday and I was headed to the school. Reaching the teachers lounge right before the bell rang I saw eraser on his was out. I stopped him and spoke. "I know you don't like being late to class but I just wanted to give you this really quickly. Again, I am very sorry." I handed him the box in my hands as he slowly opened it. His slow sleepy motions along with his tired eyes went from looking drained to drained and cheerful— almost.
   "You have to lift the scarf, theirs something else under it. He sat the box down and pulled out the new scarf I made for him over the weekend with my knowledge of support gear. He sat the scarf to the side and immediately picked up one of the 12 juice boxes I had given him. "Here let me help." I grabbed the old torn scarf from around his neck with my tail and set it to the side. Finally seeing his full face for more than a moment, I didn't let my eyes linger too long. Picking up the scarf with my freshly filed claws I wrapped it around his head and stepped back.
   "I hope you like it, I made a few modifications but I'll let you figure those out on your own. Let me know if there's any problems or anything I can do eraser head." I walked toward my desk and placed my things down. "Sparring session after school to see who pay for drinks tonight. Training arena 5pm sharp. Don't be late." He began walking out with the box in hand as my face flushed. He stopped on his way out and turned to me. "Thank you (yn)." He stepped out and I had an internal excitement almost too much to contain. And to think, all this was for a juice box.

Game Night
a short post-season 5 oneshot. read on ao3
——
Catra liked to think of herself as a dedicated person. There were a lot of things she still hated about herself—the therapist Perfuma had recommended to her had said during their first session that it would take time to fully forgive herself, to get out of the “self-destructive mindset” she had spent so long embracing. But she at least prided herself on her resolve, her resilience, her determination.
However, it turned out that in terms of determination, she was nothing compared to the princesses’ crazed desire to hold as many social events as physically possible.
At first, during the initial celebration at Brightmoon and the stream of Thank You For Saving The World, Princesses! parties that were thrown in their honor as they traveled across Etheria to help with rebuilding efforts, Catra thought that this was just because of the circumstances. Everyone was clearly thrilled to be alive and happy that the princesses were back to being heroes, and they wanted to commemorate the occasion with festivities.
(It was still weird to think of herself like that. As a member of the Princess Alliance. Would it ever get less strange?)
But then Catra learned that the princesses were just like that. There were endless game nights and iceball tournaments and flower crown-making circles and picnics and trips around Etheria just for the purpose of seeing the sights. Late night planning meetings that turned into sleepovers, and visits to their allies under the guise of “checking in” that held no tactical purpose in the end.
This was so foreign, so beyond her reality; she had grown up in the Horde, where her idea of free time was just more training. Her only celebrations came in the form of stolen moments with Adora and extra ration bars, which she hoarded like it was water in the Crimson Wastes.
But despite how skeptical she acted, deep down Catra loved it, even the flower crowns. She discovered that she was very good at iceball—so good that she and Adora were banned from playing against each other on the grounds of being too competitive. (Thankfully, Glimmer and Frosta were equally worthy opponents.) Spinnerella and Netossa were more than happy to teach her all their tricks; Catra found the couple oddly comforting, a nice, stable, older presence that she’d never had before.
But above all, Catra loved the quiet moments the most. Late sleepovers with the Best Friend Squad (her attempts to change the name to something more badass, like the Kickass Comrades, had been shot down) had, much to her surprise, become one of her favorite things. The old Catra would have scoffed seeing her now, eating sweets and giggling late into the night, but she didn’t care. Arrow Boy and Sparkles had actually become her friends, dignity be damned.
And of course, there was Adora. Beautiful, amazing, wonderful Adora, with her sparkling blue eyes and soft lips and strong arms that always ended up wrapped around Catra. She could hardly believe it was real, that Adora loved her. She wondered if she would ever be able to wake up and not stare in disbelief at the sight of Adora lying next to her, staring at her with soft, loving eyes. If one day she would stop fearing that all of it was a dream.
“Hey, lovebirds!” Glimmer shouted. “Quit being gross and get over here so you can finish helping us!”
They had spent the last two weeks in what had formerly been known as the Fright Zone, and what was soon to become Scorpia’s kingdom. The still-newly-minted princess had decided to use it as a refuge for former Horde soldiers who were looking to turn over a new leaf. “After all,” Scorpia had said, “if Catra and Adora and I all changed, everyone else can, too.”
But unsurprisingly, the place was still, as Catra put it, full of shit. So the Princess Alliance decided to clean it up and redecorate.
“You said we could take a water break!” protested Adora.
“Yeah,” said Catra, smirking. “We’re so thirsty.” She blinked innocently up at Glimmer from her perch on Adora’s lap, one arm slung around her shoulders and the other hand playing with her blonde hair.
Mermista, who was carrying a stack of boxes nearby, rolled her eyes. “Yeah you are,” she muttered. Behind her, Sea Hawk gave them a thumbs up.
Glimmer put her hands on her hips, shaking her head. “I said you could take a water break when Adora tried to lift a literal tank without shifting into She-Ra. But that was twenty minutes ago! Let’s go, you two. Chop chop.”
Adora’s gaze was fixed on Catra, a soft smile sliding across her lips. “Just a minute,” she told Glimmer, not breaking eye contact with Catra. Gently, she tipped her head upwards and kissed her. Catra let herself dissolve into the kiss, closing her eyes and exhaling.
They pulled apart only to press their foreheads together. “I think we’re annoying,” Adora stage-whispered.
Catra barely kept herself from giggling. (Giggling. What the fuck, honestly.) “You think?” she asked.
She heard Glimmer say, “Bow! Come help me!” Then she felt hands wrap around her as Bow and Glimmer bodily lifted her up off of Adora’s lap. She hissed in fake-annoyance, squirming in their grip.
“Don’t pretend you two are much better!” she shrieked as they deposited her onto a pile of stacked bedrolls. “I saw you feeding Sparkles at breakfast!”
Frosta scoffed as she used her ice powers to hang a lantern. “I get it, you’re all gross! When can we be done? I’m bored!”
Scorpia delicately set a plant down on a nearby windowsill, mindful of her claws. “Soon! Thank you so much for your help, guys. The place looks great.” Everyone beamed, pausing to look around and admire their handiwork.
It did look great. The walls had been painted a lighter color, and the hallways were now well-lit, filled with softer, more pleasant decor. The clanging of machinery still echoed, but gone was the smoke and pollution; Entrapta had spent a long time working on a more clean form of energy, one that was better for magic and the planet and whatever.
Speaking of the pig-tailed princess—“Where’s Entrapta?” asked Catra. “She didn’t want to come and invent some bot to help us?”
Perfuma adjusted her girlfriend’s placement of the potted plant, trying to give it as much sunlight as possible. “She’s very busy with all her new ethical science projects now—”
“Semi-ethical,” corrected Bow, rubbing the back of his neck.
“—But she was invited to our celebration tomorrow night! Hopefully we will see her then.”
“Another party? It never ends, does it?” Catra said to Adora, who had come back to stand at her side.
Perfuma clasped her hands together. “Oh, this one will just be a small get-together. We’ll throw a big party once all of Scorpia’s citizens move in, but this is just for us princesses!”
“And Bow and Catra and Sea Hawk,” Mermista reminded her.
Perfuma shrugged. “Honorary princesses!”
Adora cleared her throat. “Alright, team, let’s get these last few things in place. We can pick up the little bit that’s left tomorrow morning. I think it’s bedtime.”
——
“And then I said, “Uh, your ship’s on fire!’”
The room burst in laughter. Catra wiped a tear from her eye as she cackled—there was something about Mermista’s deadpan delivery that made all her stories way funnier than anyone else’s. “And did you ever run into that pirate again?” she asked.
Sea Hawk spread his arms grandly. “Why, of course! He approached us a short time later to tell us how our genius and fighting prowess inspired him, and how he had decided to become an artist and build statues in our honor. To this day, his children sing our praises around campfires.”
At the same time, Mermista shook her head and said, “Nope. Never saw him again.”
This unleashed another wave of giggles. Still snickering, Catra leaned forward in her seat and took a cookie off the plate on the table in front of her. As she did so, Frosta opened her mouth wide and pointed wordlessly at it. Catra rolled her eyes and tossed a cookie at her. She caught it in her mouth and gave a muffled cheer as she chewed.
Bow rubbed his hands together. “Okay, guys, let’s get started.” He gestured at the table in front of them, which would soon be the center of Scorpia’s strategy room. Tonight, however, it was covered with a big game board and several playing pieces, dice, and stacks of cards. “Here’s how we play—”
“We’re here!”
Entrapta practically bounced into the room, Emily close at her side, beeping cheerfully. Wrong Hordak followed close behind them, smiling his typical sheepish smile and holding a tray crammed with an almost-impossible amount of tiny pink cupcakes.
Adora stood up to greet them. “Hey, guys! Welcome to…”
Her voice trailed off abruptly as the last guest entered. Catra felt her heart begin to pound; she stood up too, curling her claws into fists. Melog, who had been sleeping next to the sofa the Best Friend Squad was sharing, sprang to its feet, hissing. The rest of the group froze, exchanging shocked glances.
Hordak (the real one) stood in the doorway, somehow managing to look both awkward and stern. “Hello,” he said shortly, his deep voice echoing slightly.
When no one answered for a long, tension-filled minute, Entrapta looked rapidly between the group and Hordak, her eyes wide with confusion. “Sorry we’re late,” she said tentatively. “Did I…did I bring too many people?”
Mermista buried her head in her hands and let out a muffled scream. Sea Hawk patted her arm sympathetically.
Catra struggled to choose between saying What is he doing here and Absolutely fucking not and just straight-up attacking him. Judging by her facial expression, across the table Frosta was thinking along the same lines.
Entrapta twirled one of her ponytails around her nervously, her smile slowing sliding off her face the longer the silence dragged on. Next to her, Wrong Hordak shifted from foot to foot. “Uh…”
Perfuma hastily jumped up, a fake smile plastered on her face. “We’re so glad you could come!” she chirped, flinging her arms around her.
Wrong Hordak joined the hug. “I have missed you, brothers!” he told them tearfully.
At Perfuma’s pointed look, Scorpia and Frosta made space for the newcomers, bringing over more chairs.
“Will you be joining us, Hordak?” Catra asked icily, sneering at him.
“Be nice,” Bow whispered to her.
“She has a point,” Glimmer whispered back.
Hordak glared right back at her. “Entrapta invited me. Am I not welcome here?”
Adora managed to pick her jaw up off the floor. “Uhhh…no, um, take a seat. Bow was just about to tell us how this game works.” She sat down, pulling Catra down with her.
Bow started to explain, occasionally being interrupted by Frosta, Perfuma, and Sea Hawk, who all had their own opinions on how the rules should be interpreted. Meanwhile, Catra hissed quietly, “Are we seriously just going to play a board game with Hordak of all people?”
“He’s changed, I guess,” Adora murmured back.
On her other side, Glimmer rolled her eyes. “Allegedly.”
After the war had ended, the Rebellion didn’t really know what to do with Hordak. Sure, he had saved Entrapta and turned against Horde Prime, but they weren’t just going to let him sit back on his throne. Originally Catra had been in favor of dumping his ass in the Crimson Wastes, but Huntara was having none of it.
So eventually the princesses settled on letting him live in Dryl with Entrapta, as long as he swore never to hold any political power or territory for the rest of his life. An oath they would make sure he held, with magic to ensure it, if necessary.
“I don’t trust him,” Catra murmured.
Adora placed a comforting hand on her thigh. “Me neither, but Entrapta trusts him. And whatever makes her happy, we’ll support.”
They watched Hordak sneer as Perfuma tried to offer him some fruit juice. She frowned back at his rude behavior, huffing in that trying-to-be-dignified-yet-offended way of hers. Frosta looked like she wanted to stick his head in an ice block. Meanwhile, Entrapta was in full science mode, spilling out a detailed lecture about dice and probability.
“Even if the thing that makes her happy is Hordak?” grimaced Glimmer.
Adora sighed, rubbed her forehead. “Even so,” she said glumly.
Bow clapped his hands, signaling the end of his rules explanation. “Okay, does everyone get it?”
“Yes,” said Catra.
“Totally,” said Glimmer.
“Yeah…” said Adora.
Bow gave them a look that suggested he knew they hadn’t been listening at all. “Okay, let’s get started!”
Thankfully, Catra was able to figure it out as she went. The game was fairly simple: the players had to try to be the first one to make it around a map of Etheria, while fighting mythical monsters and challenges along the way. She leaned forward, smirking, her competitive nature taking over. “You’re all going down,” she said, making a show of cracking her knuckles.
Glimmer scooped up the dice and began to shake them. “As if!”
Scorpia laughed and shook her head. “No, guys, Perfuma is the champion at this game. She’s beaten me every time, she’s that amazing.”
The flower princess blushed a deep crimson. “Oh, Scorpia!” she trilled. “You are amazing too!”
Catra watched this play out fondly. Despite her and Scorpia’s…rocky history, she was genuinely sorry for all the pain she’d caused her. Although Scorpia had said she forgave her, there was a while after the war where things had been awkward, uncomfortable. She was happy to see that the former Force Captain had found someone who could make her happier than Catra ever could.
Hordak made a strangled noise in the back of his throat. It took her a minute to realize that he was laughing. “This is a childish competition,” he announced, sounding annoyed.
Mermista rested her chin on her palm. “You’re just mad that you couldn’t conquer Etheria and now you can’t win this board game.”
Hordak stiffened. “How dare—”
“Okay!” Bow interceded, his voice hinging on hysteria. “Glimmer will start!”
They went around in a circle, their game pieces slowly advancing with each roll of the dice. Catra was not thrilled when Glimmer rolled four tens in a row and she kept only rolling ones and twos. Thankfully, she was able to get Sparkles back when she pulled a Brightmoon-themed card and “teleported” her to the little red and yellow spot on the board that was supposed to represent the Crimson Wastes.
Scorpia was, unsurprisingly, the best sport about this. While everyone else soon succumbed to playfully cursing each other out as they scrambled to keep their game piece ahead of the group, Scorpia was the one congratulating everyone even when they fucked her over.
Even Perfuma huffed when Frosta got her stuck in the “Northern Reach”. “This is a betrayal,” she sniffed dramatically, crossing her arms. “I will never, ever forgive you.” A moment later, she cracked a smile and winked at the younger girl to let her know she was joking.
Wrong Hordak landed on a “Magic Zone” square and whipped out a card. “Do not worry, sister! This piece of paper says the Sorcerers’ Guild has granted me the power of…time travel! I will reverse your plight!” he declared. He reached down and daintily picked up Perfuma’s piece so he could place it back on the path.
Perfuma giggled. “My hero!”
“That was supposed to be used for your piece,” Entrapta pointed out, fidgeting with a small gear as she waited for her turn.
Adora shrugged. “Eh, let him do what he wants,” she said. She leaned back and not-so-casually draped her arm over Catra’s shoulders. She leaned into her girlfriend’s touch happily.
Entrapta pulled out the recorder she clearly kept with her at all times. “Observation number two hundred and fifty-three: when playing games, rules are to be broken at the player’s convenience.”
“Now you’ve got the spirit!” chuckled Sea Hawk, who was currently attempting to steal alien chips off of Mermista’s plate. Every time she caught him, he gave her the most lovestruck eyes he could pull off until she let her snag a chip.
Wrong Hordak handed the dice to Actual Hordak. “Your turn, brother!”
Hordak took the dice emotionlessly and rolled it. A five. He moved his game piece to the appropriate square.
“You landed on a runestone!” Perfuma cheered. “That means you get to move ahead five spaces!”
Hordak frowned down at the tiny drawing. “This pathetic image looks nothing like the real Black Garnet. It fails to capture the strength, the raw power that eminented from my runestone. How comical.”
“Your runestone?” Catra repeated, raising one eyebrow. “It’s not yours anymore, Hordak.”
He glowered at her. “In a better life, it was.”
Glimmer narrowed her eyes. “Are you saying that—”
Entrapta scooped up the dice. “My turn!” she chirped.
Adora hastily stood up, gripping both Glimmer and Catra’s arms tightly. “We are going to get more fruit juice!” she said. “Bow, will you come with us?”
His grin was particularly strained. “Of course!”
They both looked at Glimmer. “Fiiiine,” she sighed, before transporting the Best Friend Squad to the nearby kitchen.
Once there, Adora immediately turned to Catra and Glimmer. Melog slunk in after them, not wanted to be separated from its owner.
“He’s a terrible person!” protested Catra, already knowing what she was going to say. “I want him out of here.”
“Everyone did terrible things while they were in the Horde,” Bow reminded her gently as he poured more fruit juice into cups. Including you was the unspoken meaning behind that sentence. She looked down at the ground.
“But,” Bow said, handing her a cup, “what matters is that they’ve changed.”
Glimmer took the juice pitcher out of his hands, kissing his cheek. “I agree with Catra,” she told him as she poured. “Hordak might have said he was sorry, but he doesn’t act like it.”
“ And ,” added Catra, emboldened by someone siding with her, “he’s just straight up gross. How someone could possibly find that greasy-haired stick-up-his-ass attractive is just absolutely beyond me—”
“I know! He’s all—” Glimmer deepened her voice, hunched her shoulders. “—‘Pathetic princesses! You know nothing of true power! I am Hordak, Prince of Evil! Mwahahaha!’”
Catra laughed so hard she choked, and almost fell over.
Even Bow, who was rooting through the cabinets looking for more napkins, chuckled. “That’s cute,” he told her.
She winked at him. “ I’m cute.”
“You are.” He pulled her into a hug from behind, pressing his lips to the side of her head.
Adora took Catra’s hand. “Just please try to refrain from killing him for tonight,” she asked. “Afterwards, you and Glimmer and Mermista can start an I Hate Hordak club if you want.”
Catra tugged playfully on her ponytail. “Don’t tempt me. I will run that club.”
Her girlfriend poked her cheek in return before helping Glimmer and Bow stack the cups of fruit juice onto a tray. Catra grabbed another bag of alien chips, just in case.
“Alright,” said Adora, carefully balancing the heavily-stacked tray and ignoring everyone else eying her worriedly. “Ready?”
Bow winced as the tray wobbled dangerously when she took a step. “Adora, do you need—”
“I got it!”
Glimmer shook her head. “Maybe we’d better walk back to the strategy room. I don’t know if those cups can survive a teleportation trip.”
“We’ll be fine!” Adora assured her, and then promptly tripped, sending the tray flying.
——
“I’m really proud of you,” Adora told her as they waved goodbye to the group. They all had to return to their own kingdoms; it still wasn’t stable to be gone for too long.
Catra looked up at her. “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah, you—” She was cut off by a yell of frustration coming from the direction of the skiff waiting to take their friends back to Dryl.
The two of them watched Wrong Hordak and Entrapta attempt to bodily lift Emily onto the skiff, which was hovering a few feet above the ground. The bot was nothing more than deadweight, beeping irritably.
“Her programming is due for an update soon,” Entrapta explained. “Sometimes she gets sulky like this.”
“She doesn’t wanna say goodbye to her friends,” Frosta said. She seemed particularly pouty herself. She had become particularly clingy after the war ended, and probably wasn’t happy about having to go back to her own kingdom alone after spending so much time with everyone.
Catra could relate.
“We’ll see everyone again soon,” Glimmer reminded her, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. “We’re throwing a celebration once Perfuma and Scorpia get everyone settled here, remember?”
“Yeah,” said Frosta, sticking out her lip grumpily.
Wrong Hordak shrieked as one of Emily’s appendages kicked him in the face. He dropped her with a thud.
“Emily!” scolded Entrapta. “Not nice!” Scorpia and Perfuma moved to help them, which definitely made things more successful. Meanwhile, Hordak watched the whole scene unfold from inside the skiff, not bothering to offer his help.
“As I was saying,” Adora said, still chuckling, “I’m really proud of you, Catra. I—I know it can be hard to keep your anger in check when you’re dealing with…”
“With the former dictator of our childhood?” she finished. “I know.”
“You’ve come a long way.”
Catra laced their fingers together, leaned against her shoulder. “So have you.”
Mermista called Frosta over to their skiff, where Sea Hawk was helping her load up their bags. The game night victor gave Glimmer a hug, then Bow, Adora, and, to her surprise, Catra. “See you later, Horde Scum,” Frosta said, parroting her mentor.
Catra grinned back at her. “See you later, princess.”
From the skiff, Mermista tossed a wadded-up piece of paper to Catra. “I look forward to it!” she shouted as Sea Hawk helped Frosta into the skiff.
“Me too!” Catra shouted back.
Adora looked curiously at the paper ball. “What’s that?”
Catra handed it to her without saying a word, smirking. Adora unfolded it, revealing a flyer.

Do YOU fantasize about ruining his day?
If so, this is the place for you!!!

Surprise!
Tumblr media
Aaron Hotchner x fem!Reader
Request: Imagine its the reader’s birthday and she doesn’t want to get up but little does she know Hotch and Rossi have planned a surprise party for that night (hotch x reader married)
Warnings: fluff
Word Count: 2,056
A/N: Hope you enjoy this! I spell checked for once haha! It’s not the best, I’m still working on getting better at writing. Let me know what you think! Thank you so much for all the love on my previous posts <3
Reader’s POV:
I tossed slightly in bed, stirring from my slumber, the early light peeking through the windows, illuminating the empty spot next to me. The covers were neatly tucked underneath the pillows, where my husband once slept. Lazily reaching my hand over the area, feeling the soft sheets run against my fingertips, I slowly began to awaken more.
“I see that my beautiful wife is up,” Aaron’s velvety voice breaks the morning silence. “I made you breakfast in bed.” The smell of pancakes and bacon began to fill the room, your stomach quietly growling.
I flip over, seeing him make his way to me with the small tray and a glass of orange juice in his hands. I grunt, “Honey you shouldn’t have, really. Thank you, but today is just like any other day.”
He chuckles while setting the neatly prepared plate into my lap and the juice on the nightstand. “I’m sorry, but today has to be one the best days of my life. Want to know why?”
Playfully rolling my eyes, I hum expectantly.
“Because the love of my life was born on this day, many years ago.” He smiled.
“You make me sound old!” I softly swat his arm, earning a giggle from us both.
“Not old, just...mature!” He defends as I begin to poke at my short stack. “But I will say, sweetheart you have to get out of bed. You can’t waste the day away.”
With a mouthful of food I counteract, “BUT it is MY birthday, can’t I do what I want? Like stay in bed with my husband?”
“And me!” a tiny squeak comes from the doorway. “Happy Birthday mama!” Jack chimes while running over, diving into the bed near you and Aaron.
“Why of course bud! It wouldn’t be the same without you!” I replied as I ruffled the little boy’s messy hair.
“As tempting as that sounds, Jack, you know you have to get dressed, right?” the older man questioned. Jack nodded profusely, “Alright, go on little man.”
We sat in comfortable peace as Jack made his way to his own room. Finishing my plate and setting it down, Aaron began to tug my hands in an attempt to pull me from my resting spot. Seeing as is stronger than me, he was successful in getting me to my feet, but not without a bit of protest. “Y/n, I know you don’t like to celebrate your birthday, but I thought the three of us could have a nice dinner tonight. Dress up a little and enjoy each other’s company.” Aaron suggested, in hopes I would agree.
A smile threatened its way to my lips, why was he always so sweet and persuasive? I nodded, walking to our shared closet, in search of a nice dress and shoes to match. When I began to strip off my pajamas, Aaron got a phone call and urgently left the room. I thought nothing of it as I threw on my favorite color dress which fit me perfectly along with a pair of shoes which complemented the dress.
Moving to the bathroom I overheard Aaron, “I’m trying, but it's hard to be sneaky. Okay. But she can’t know.” Who was he talking to? And what in the world was he talking about? What can’t who know about? “Alright, see you then, bye.” I hurried and hid in the bathroom, not to let Aaron know I was eavesdropping.
“Who was it babe?” I tried to ask innocently.
“Uh-Oh no one! I just have to run by the office, I forgot I was supposed to meet someone. And I’ll drop off Jack at Haley’s on the way, so you have time to yourself.” He answered quickly, and somewhat nervously. Furrowing my brows,
“Okay, I love you?” I call out from the bathroom.
“Yeah, I’ll see you later?” He responds, halfway out of the door already.
Is he hiding something from me? What could it be? I trust Aaron but my mind can’t help wonder to the ‘What if he’s seeing someone else?’ thought. He wouldn’t, I mean it is my birthday. Would he? Trying to dismiss the thoughts I finish putting on my makeup and doing my hair. The speculation is still bouncing around in the back of my head.
As I’m putting the last of my jewelry on, the doorbell rings.“Who is it!” I holler as I rush to the door. I open it to reveal the girls of the BAU, Penelope, Emily and JJ.
“Oh girl! What are you all dressed up for?!” Emily exclaims looking at me up and down.
“I know right? Damn Y/n!” JJ and Penny chime in.
I laugh, “Thank you, Aaron wanted to take me to dinner, but he just left, I guess he was meeting someone?” I explain, letting them in.
“Hmm, that’s weird. What's the special occasion?” JJ inquires with a raised eyebrow.I guess they don’t remember it’s my birthday, no big deal. I try not to bring it up to anyone anyways.
“I’m not sure actually, I would say ask Aaron but again, I have no idea why he left so suddenly and secretly.” The girls all exchange a weird look. “What?!” I demand.
“Did he say WHO he was meeting?” Penelope requested.Stuttering I explain,
“No, not at all, it was really weird, and it might sound stupid, but what if he went to meet SOMEONE, you know?”
JJ frowns, “Y/n do you think so? I’m sorry hun, I mean we could always go look for him.”
Emily nods, “Right, and if the asshole IS doing something shady we can catch him.”
“Yep! Got his location already.” Penelope continued.
“Woah woah woah, you’re not saying to stalk my husband are you?! I mean, would that be bad?” I ask.
“Nope, it’s normal to have suspicions, especially with that mysterious phone call and him disappearing.” Emily claimed while dragging you to her car by the wrist.We all get in and buckle up. As we begin to follow the directions, I stare out the window, watching the buildings pass, the sun slowly beginning to set on the city.
“Wait, what if it’s nothing and I’m just overthinking?” I gulp.
“Wouldn’t you rather be safe than sorry Y/n?” JJ added. Nodding I turned my attention back to the road as Emily drove. Slowly making our way to what seemed to be a fancy restaurant, my hands started to sweat and a lump began to form in my throat. “I guess this is it. Should we head inside?” JJ inquired.The inside seemed dimly lit, the windows covered by sheer curtains.
“Uh-yes. Can someone hold my hand? I'm scared to see what we’ll find.” I said while we made our way out of the car. Penelope and Emily grabbed my hands as I led the way to the door. I stopped before opening, thinking about what I’d find. Was Aaron cheating? He did lie about where he was going. What else had he lied to me about? Who was it? Was it a woman?
All my thoughts were interrupted by Pen squeezing my hand. Slowly pushing the door open, I couldn’t see much, where were the lights? As I stepped further into the Restaurant a loud “SURPRISE” caused me to stumble back onto my friends who stood behind me. The lights flipped on to reveal all my family, coworkers, and friends, surrounded by balloons, confetti, and a big banner that read “Happy Birthday Y/n.”
All my worries seem to disintegrate in seconds, tears begin to fill my eyes. The girls each kiss me on the cheek and make their way to the crowd of people. Jack runs up to me and hugs me, “Surprise! I kept a secret for you Mom!”
“You sure did!” I giggled as he wipes my tears away.
“Don’t cry, I want you to be happy on your birthday mommy.” Jack says.
“I know bubba, these are happy tears! Thank you.” I explain as I kiss his forehead, standing up to meet Aaron. “You mister, are in for one.”
He laughs, “I know I know, I’m sorry. I did it to hopefully make you smile and actually like your birthday for once.” He pulls me into a tight hug. “And Emily told me that you thought I was out being… promiscuous.”
Looking up at him, “I had trust in you! I di-do! But the thought just happened to creep its way out.” I giggle.
“I get it, it seemed worse than it was, but was it worth it? I think so. I get to see my wife enjoy her day with everyone she loves. And might I add, I also get to see her look incredibly hot.” Aaron smirks.
Shaking my head, I lean up, embracing my husband in a sweet kiss.
“Hey! I hope he’s not taking all the credit for this!” Rossi interjects with a warm smile.
“Dave, you shouldn’t have! Really, I was about to kill Aaron.” I chuckle, hugging him.
“You work very hard for everyone else’s birthday, so I thought we should return the favor. Let you get time to shine on your night.” He explains.
“Thank you, really, it’s beautiful.” I answer.
“Anything for my favorite Agent, but shh, don’t let the others know that.” He winks, handing me a glass of wine.
Aaron taps a knife against his glass in an attempt to get the room’s attention. “Excuse me, I would just like to make a toast to this extraordinary, smart, talented woman.” He continues as he gestures towards me. “She has been the light of my life since I met her. From her amazing work as an Agent, to being a great mother, and to being my best friend. I couldn’t ask for a better person to love. Happy Birthday Y/n.”
Everyone erupts in cheers and ‘Happy Birthdays.’ You walk around, talking to each person, gaining tons of hugs and gifts. The party continues on for a few hours. It slowly begins to die down. Spencer and Derek stay behind to help me and Aaron to clean, while Jack lays across a few chairs, fast asleep.
“Hey, again, Happy Birthday Y/n, love ya.” Spencer quirks as he wraps you in a tight hug.
“That’s my que to leave too, Happy Birthday beautiful.” Derek claims with a hug and a kiss to my forehead.
As the place is just about picked up, I sit next to Jack, running my fingers through his chair as I peer out the window. “You know, no one has ever done something like this for me.”
“Really?” Aaron asks.
“Yea, I mean, I never felt my birthday was that important, as a kid my family celebrated the big ones, like 10 or 18, but after that, it didn’t seem like a big deal.” I clarify.
Aaron sits next to me, the moonlight shadowing through the glass, cascading over the three of us. “I hope you know it’s important to me. You are important to me. You always will be. I love you Y/n, I am so lucky to have you as my wife. And today is a day to celebrate, so my dear what do you say. Let’s head home, put Jack to sleep, and dance in the moonlight?”
Nodding, I help grab our things and help Aaron pick up Jack.
We finally make it home, while Aaron brought in our stuff, I took Jack upstairs and laid him down. His eyes flicker open as he mutters, “Love you.”
“I love you too Jack.” I respond as he falls back asleep.I shut his door and walk to our living room to find Aaron, playing music softly. Once he sees me, he reaches out his hand to me. I gladly take it and begin to dance with him. With my head on his chest, I can hear his heartbeat, and his quiet humming along with the song. I can’t help but think about all the things Aaron Hotchner has done for me. He made sure I knew that he loved me. And to be honest, I fall in love more and more with each passing day with this man.

It was normal for everyone in the house to blare music while they would get ready. Especially Colby and Y/N. Their rooms were on opposite ends of the hall but they could hear each other’s music perfectly. It almost felt like a competition to see who’s music would overpower the other one. It was always a fun mixture of songs because she would listen to One Direction while Colby would listen to artists similar to Lil Peep. Ultimately she would win, and her music would overpower his. Since he loved listening to One Direction too.
The party was already starting downstairs while she was still getting ready. All of the boys had finished getting ready hours ago, they wanted to get ready early to set up the house. People were always out of control at their house so they always tried to make the house unbreakable. But inevitably the house would get some damage one way or another.
She hummed along to the words of Ready to Run by One Direction as she applied blush to her cheeks. She leaned her head back away from the mirror looking over her features. She placed the makeup brush down as she looked for an eyeshadow palette. She jolted back as her door began to be pushed open. Her eyes widened as she looked to see who it was, she smiled softly as she saw Colby. She reached for her phone and turned her music down.
He sat on the bed behind her while he let out a long dramatic sigh. She shook her head while smiling, “What’s wrong?” she asked while she opened her Morphe eyeshadow palette. Her eyes looked around the colors trying to figure out what look she wanted to do.
“I don’t want to do this party,” he groaned while rubbing his eyes several times. “I don’t want to talk to people, I don’t want to clean up the mess, and I just want to lay in my room and sleep,” he continued. She pouted her lips as she started applying the eyeshadow.
“Wasn’t it your idea to have this party?” she asked, looking towards him through the mirror. He shook his head roughly as he fell down onto his back.
“It was my idea to have some people over, like Kevin and Aryia. Maximum eight people,” he explained, “But no,” he said sarcastically, “Everyone else invited the whole fucking city of Los Angeles.”
“Hey I only invited Mike,” she defended while she reached for a different eye shadow brush. He didn’t respond, instead he held up his phone and began scrolling through his twitter mentions. Most of his mentions were about him and Y/N. It was common for him to see tweets about him and her, or even accounts with their ship name. “You can still hang out with everyone and I promise you won’t have to clean anything,” she continued after the long period of silence, a small laugh left her lips.
“Well the person I want to hang out with is bringing a date so I might just hang in my room the whole night,” he said, his eyes widened while he pursed his lips forward. She pulled the brush away from her eye as she slowly leaned back away from the mirror. She furrowed her eyebrows as she glanced towards him in the mirror.
“Who’s bringing a date?” she questioned. She placed the brush away, while she reached for her eyeliner.
“It doesn’t matter,” he sighed while he looked into the mirror, watching her apply her eyeliner. His lips curled up as he admired the way she concentrated. “What time is Mike going to be here?”  He changed the subject quickly. He brushed his hand against his nose several times while his gaze shifted away from her.
“Soon,” she dropped her eyeliner onto the vanity top before she stood up. “You need to get out,” she turned to face him, a tight lip smile formed to her lips. His face scrunched together, “Go, go I need to get changed,” she lightly pushed him up from the bed.
“Oh, come on, I won’t look,” he joked as he started walking towards the door. She shook her head dramatically, trying to hide the smile forming to her lips. He laughed as he pulled open the door and left. She sighed while she walked towards her dresser. She took out a fancy set of red lingerie and laid it out onto the bed.
~~~
The amount of people at the party was overwhelming, you could barely walk around without bumping into someone. But it was normal for the type of parties they always had. The music was loud and the base could be felt through the floor. She was all over the place, trailing Mike behind her. Most of the time she would be in the sea of people dancing with Mike.
She wouldn’t say she was drunk, but she was getting there. She slowly turned her body around to face him, her gaze looking into his eyes. She bit her lip as she slightly widened her eyes. She wrapped her hands around Mike’s neck pulling him closer to her, his eyes lit up as he slowly wrapped his hands tightly around her waist. She smiled against his lips as she leaned in and kissed him.
Colby stood against the wall while taking slow sips of his drink. Every so often as people moved away from the main group, he would catch a glimpse of Y/N dancing closely to Mike. He clenched his jaw tightly as he watched her, his heart would race fast. He wanted to be the one to dance with her, he wanted to be the one to hold her and kiss her. He lowered his head, staring towards the floor while he took a sip of his drink. He cringed at the taste.
He lifted his head, looking towards Mike and Y/N, from across the room he met her eyes. Her body slowed from her dancing as she stared towards him. His lips twitched up into a small smirk. Her lips curled up slightly when she saw him. Mike tightened his grip around her waist. She looked away from Colby towards Mike, she forced out a laugh.
Colby looked away from her back towards the floor while chugged the rest of his drink. A small tap on his shoulder, caused him to lift his head. His eyes widened as he saw the same red haired girl from this morning. “Olivia, hi,” he was shocked to see her here. He didn’t even remember telling her about the party. She reached over and hugged him. He hesitantly hugged her back, “I didn’t realize you were coming,” he forced a smile.
~
Y/N leaned towards Mike and whispered, “Take me to get a drink,” he smiled as he took a hold of her hand. He began pushing through the crowd keeping a hold of her hand tightly. Her eyes kept down as she watched her feet. The kitchen was the only place where people were in and out immediately. Y/N took in a sudden breath once she entered the clear space. She let go of Mike’s hand as she pointed her finger towards the assortment of drinks.
“Yes please,” she cheered as she pulled the vodka from the counter and began pouring a heavy amount into her cup. She then reached for a can of Dr. Pepper and started pouring it into the cup. She rested the almost empty can down onto the counter while turning around towards Mike. “Are you having fun?” she asked while biting her lower lip. He nodded his head as he began to move towards her quickly. He rested his hand onto her cheek as he kissed her.
She pulled away from his lips, while breathing heavy. She pushed aside the strap to her dress revealing the red skinny strap, “You are going to meet me in my room in ten minutes,” she bit her lip as she took a hold of her drink. She turned around and began walking through the sea of people towards the stairs.
She stopped short when she saw Sam and Colby leaning against the wall right before the stairs. “Hey!” she said excitedly. They smiled towards her as Colby’s gaze looked her body up and down.
He took a sip of his drink while Sam said, “You look like you’re having fun,” she nodded several times while she took an overly confident sip.
“I am,” she giggled, “Are you guys?” Sam nodded while Colby shrugged his shoulders. She took a small step closer to him while her eyes flickered down to his lips briefly. “Colby, at least try to have fun,” she smiled softly as she ran her hand up and down his arm slowly. Colby shifted his gaze towards her hand, before he processed what she was doing she started to skip up the stairs. He watched her walk away from him while smirking slightly.
After Mike sat still in the kitchen for a while taking one too many drinks while he was in there. He decided to start heading towards the room. He walked through the sea of people while trying his best to not bump into anyone. He glanced towards Sam and Colby, rolling his eyes slightly. “-Tonight?” Sam asked. Mike stopped short on the step, wanting to listen in.
“I’m going to tell her I love her,” Colby’s voice was calm while he crossed his arms over his chest.
“Dude, are you sure? I thought you were going to wait until her and Mike broke up,”
“I don’t know, dude, I have to tell her I’m in love with her,” Colby let out, it was the first time he said those words out loud. Mike clenched his fist several times, he bit at his bottom lip as he stomped up the stairs. Colby turned his body towards the stairs and saw a glimpse of someone that looked like Mike up the stairs. He shrugged his shoulder and began walking up the stairs slowly.
“Yes,” you whisper, suddenly feeling like you jumped the gun, but the words had just spilled out. “I’d love to be your boyfriend, if you’ll have me?” He says the first part so decisively and with so much certainty that you just stare up at him and smile. “So, is that a yes?” he asks, his grin lopsided. You jump and throw your arms around his neck, kissing him firmly before breaking into a smile and whispering, “yes, definitely yes.”
When the two of you finally come back to reality you see Sam standing with his arm around Nat, both giving you knowing smiles.  “Back to work Barnes,” Sam says, his eyes bright. “Oh, yea!” Bucky replies, giving you a squeeze and another quick kiss. He hops around the bar; his head held a bit higher and a pep in his step.
Nat rushes over and grabs your hands, “I TOLD YOU!” she yells over the loud chatter of the bar. You try to contain your happiness to a small squeal but fail when she starts hopping. “I feel like I’m drunk but I haven’t even had a sip of my drink yet! Speaking of, where are our drinks?” She reaches behind you and grabs two cold glasses, handing you one. “Try it! It’s amazing!”
The rest of the night is spent chatting and laughing with Nat while Sam and Bucky work the bar. More often than you’d like to admit your eyes drift to Bucky behind the bar. His sleeves are rolled up and the top few buttons of his shirt are undone, giving you plenty to ogle. Every so often he catches you staring, and you watch his eyes darken making your breath hitch. “Stop eye fucking your boyfriend, please,” Nat teases, emphasizing the word boyfriend.
With a startle you whip your head around, “what?!? I am not doing any such thing.” You turn back to look at Bucky, his eyes crinkled in a smile as he laughs. “I mean, maybe that’s exactly what I was doing but can you blame me? Look at him!” Now Nat throws her head back with laughter, “no, I guess I can’t.” Throwing Bucky a wink and an appreciative smile, you try to keep a straight face as you waggle your eyebrows.
It’s after 2am when the bar starts to close, you and Nat swiveling around on the stools and giggling. “Should we help them clean up?” Nat blows a raspberry, making a face and says, “no way!” a little too loudly. “No way, what?” Sam asks, sidling up beside Nat with a smirk. “Nat doesn’t think we should help you two clean up,” you say quickly, trying not to laugh. “Oh, I see how it is,” Sam teases. Bucky catches your eye as he’s walking to the back and motions for you to follow. You tell Nat and Sam you’ll be right back, leaving them to their fun.
Following Bucky to the back you watch him place the container of clean glasses down on counter. He rinses his hands and wipes them clean with a towel before starting to unbutton his shirt. You’re leaning in the doorway, your eyes fixed on his long fingers as they easily work their way down his shirt. He reaches the bottom and looks up, pulling his shirt off and smirking at your reaction. “See something you like, doll?”
Your eyes travel down his chest, following the trail of hair from his pecs to the waistband of his jeans. His ab muscles flex as he grabs his backpack and pulls out a tee shirt, your bottom lip now caught between your teeth as you try to hold back a moan. Throwing the tee shirt over his shoulder he stalks toward you, his arm reaching over your head and pulling the door shut with a click, the motion pushing you closer to him as the door nudges your back.
“Hi,” is all you manage to say, your fingers dancing over his skin as pins you against the door. His hands cup your face, gently brushing your hair back before he kisses you, slow and deep. He parts your leg with his thigh, and you gasp into his mouth, your dress riding up, so the fabric of your underwear rubs on his jeans. You can’t help the way your hips move along the thick muscle of his thigh, the friction hitting just the right spot.
Grabbing onto his shoulders you continue moving your hips back and forth, your orgasm building quickly as Bucky’s mouth travels over your neck. “Bucky, oh my god,” is all that leaves your mouth before your body trembles and you cum on his thigh, your wetness soaking through your underwear.
Bucky carefully moves his leg and holds you up, bringing your lips to his. “That was so fucking hot,” he murmurs into your mouth. “We need to go home; my jeans are way too tight right now.” You giggle and give him a nod, running your hand over the bulge in his pants, “yes, I want to go home right now.”
With quick goodbyes to Nat and Sam you leave the bar. The cool night air is a stark contrast to your heated skin as you make your way down Eldridge Street. Bucky can’t keep his hands off you, stopping to kiss you every few feet. When you finally reach his building, he opens the door and practically sprints up the steps, the two of you falling through the doorway of his apartment in a lip lock.
You wake to the warmth of the early morning sun shining through Bucky’s bedroom window. Your body is tangled with his as he peacefully sleeps. Brushing some hair from his face you give him a kiss and carefully get up, grabbing his tee shirt from the floor and throwing it over your naked body.
Tip toeing into the bathroom you wash up and give yourself a tour of his apartment. It’s unsurprisingly neat and comfortable, the warm colors and wooden furniture making it feel like a lived-in place. He has several bookshelves lining the walls in the living room and you smile to yourself, loving that he’s surrounded himself with them.
“You look so much better in my shirt than I do.” You look down at yourself before turning on your heel, “I could argue with you on that.” Bucky walks over, his sweats hung low on his hips. He winds his arms around your shoulders and holds you against his chest. “Hungry?” Just then your stomach grumbles and you both laugh. “I definitely could go for some breakfast!”
After breakfast and some fun in the shower you leave Bucky’s and return home to do laundry and bake the cookies for dinner at Betty’s. You decide you also want to try one of your new recipes for a chocolate pie, hoping to get an honest opinion from both Bucky and his grandma. The day goes by quickly as you bake and clean, Bucky texting you silly pictures from the book shop.
‘I wish I didn’t have to work tonight😢.’ You read his text, wishing the same. You want to go to the bar again, but you promised Nat some girl time and you needed to do some things around your apartment. ‘I know, me too, I miss you.’ You send the text before thinking it through, cringing to yourself and hoping you didn’t overstep.
An, ‘I miss you more❤,’ comes through almost instantly and with a giant sigh of relief, you send several heart emojis back followed by a picture of your finished chocolate pie. ‘I tried a new recipe! Hopefully, you guys will like it🥰!’ The next few texts come through quickly, Bucky making his excitement know. Nat arrives shortly after and you veg on the couch with cookies and wine, hardly talking about anything other than the boys.
When Sunday afternoon arrives, you’re pacing your apartment, rambling to Nat on the phone. “Why am I all of a sudden nervous, it’s not like I’m meeting his parents and I’ve met Betty before!” Chewing on your lip you huff into the phone causing Nat to laugh, “listen, calm down, eat a cookie and get dressed or you’re going to be late.”
Bucky meets you at your apartment and you catch a cab together, his hand in yours as you walk to Betty’s apartment. “This stuff smells amazing, I can’t wait to eat it all,” he says, pulling you into his side. Kissing the top of your head, he whispers, “she already loves you, don’t worry about anything.” You let your shoulders relax feeling somewhat lighter after his sweet words.
Betty’s apartment door is slightly ajar, the delicious smell of lasagna wafting through the small space. “Oh man, that smells so good,” you say as Bucky opens the door. “Hey grandma, we’re here!” Betty pokes her head around the corner of the kitchen with a smile, “oh good, kids, come on in! I need some help.”
You brush past Bucky and put the cookies and pie on the table, going over to Betty and asking, “what can I do?” She pats your cheek and instructs you to set the table, yelling at Bucky to help get the lasagna out of the oven and get the drinks.
Once the table is set and the three of you are seated Betty gets to talking. You had checked with Bucky on the way over, asking him if it was ok to ask her questions about his grandpa, James. He assured you it would be fine, and she would be happy to talk about him. And she was.
We met when I was 19, not long before the Vietnam War. James was so handsome with his dark hair and beautiful blue eyes. It was summer and I was at Coney Island with my friends and some of the army boys had come out to have some fun. The moment I laid eyes on him; I knew. “Knew what,” you asked, your head cocked to the side and a dreamy look in your eyes.
That I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. Thankfully, he felt the same because that night my life changed forever. Just like any other show off he approached me and asked if he could try to win me one of the stuffed bears at the water gun game. He kept saying he was a good shot. Well, turns out, he won three times in a row and I got the biggest stuff bear they had. “She still has it too,” Bucky chimed in with a smile. You squeeze his hand, “it’s all so romantic.”
We spent the whole evening together. James took me for a walk on the beach that night and we bonded over our love of books and literature, quoting all our favorite stories and authors. It almost felt too good to be true but when we kissed for the first time on that sand, I knew he would be the last man I ever kissed.
He went to Vietnam. I knew he was going to and I had to let him, but it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. So hard, I wasn’t sure I would make it through. I wrote him every day and sent him books I had read with my notes in the margin. They were more often just the words in my heart that had leaked onto the page. He kept them all of course, telling me they gotten him through many nights.
When he returned home, we got married right away. It was a small wedding but just what we wanted. After that we moved into this apartment and I got pregnant in the next year. One day, we were walking down W 15th street, or more like I was waddling because I was about 8 months pregnant and we passed this quaint little bookshop. It was one of those moments where we looked at each other and it all just clicked.
Walking inside we were immediately surrounded by the familiar smell of old books. We spent the whole afternoon exploring the shelves for books for the baby’s library. We left with probably close to 30 books, hands, and hearts full.
Later than night when we were building the bookshelf for the baby’s room, James sat back and pulled me into his lap. He asked me what I wanted in life. I told him I had everything I wanted and more. He understood because he felt the same but then he added in a quiet voice, “what if we had our own library.”
At first, I didn’t know what he meant. Maybe one for the house? But then he started telling me his idea. He spoke with so much passion that I couldn’t have said no even if I wanted to. And I didn’t want to, I was all in. It was perfect for us.
So, after Bucky’s father was born, we saved up, bought the space, and turned it into the bookshop. From day one James was fully invested. He gave it so much of himself and we had so much success. Everything he did he did for us and I know he’s so happy that Bucky has taken over and we didn’t have to sell before he passed.
Betty slowly got up and walked to the living room, taking a photo off the mantle. “Would you grab the cookies and pie dear and Bucky put on the coffee please?” You both jump up and do as she asks, clearing the table and setting out the dessert and coffee cups. She returns with the photo and sits down, handing it to you. “That’s James and I in front of the bookshop the day it opened.”
Her smile is wide, but her eyes are sad. You look down at the picture, your own eyes blurred by tears, “you are beautiful, and James is so handsome. You really look like him Bucky.” When you look up, Bucky’s eyes are on you and not the picture. Something floats across his features that steals your breath. Something akin to pain but it quickly vanishes when Betty speaks again.
“Oh, my darling, this pie is scrumptious! You are quite the baker.” You and Bucky look over, smiling as she takes another bite. “I’m so glad you like it! Will you try some Bucky?” He reaches over and cuts a giant slice, “you bet I will!”
It seems as if the painful moment has passed as he happily chews the pie, groaning at how good it is. You kiss his cheek, taking a bite yourself and smiling. “It did come good! I have to add this to my recipe book.” The three of you enjoy dessert and more lovely conversation, helping Betty clean up before you leave.
You say goodbye and head out the door, promising to be back soon with more baked goods. Bucky’s hand is tight around yours as you walk down the street, deciding to take a stroll before getting a cab. The night is warm and beautiful as Bucky pulls you into his side. You can tell something is off but you’re not sure if you should ask. The moment with the picture sits at the forefront of your mind and you decide to take the gamble.
You stop walking and wrap your arms around him, “Bucky. Talk to me, what’s going on?” His brow furrows and his lips turn down in a frown. Your stomach sinks as thoughts that he is going to end it creep into your mind. He must notice the look in your eyes and quickly kisses you before saying, “it’s not you at all, you are perfect.” Taking a deep breath, he continues, “it’s the bookshop. I have barely been able to pay the rent these past two months. I don’t know what to do.”
Senior Year Aventures (zuko xOC) pt.9.5
“Come dance with me”
The ride to Toph’s house was calming. Zuko let her have the aux, her favorite songs played as she watched the beautiful scenery. Toph lived pretty much in the middle of the woods, she always loved driving down Bei-fong lane seeing the practical mansion peak through the evergreens.
“wow Tophs house is huge!!” Zuko looked at the house in wonder. That’s another thing she loved, when someone new sees Tophs house, especially when the person is cute.
“you’re going to want to park in the garage” she tells him as the get to the front of the house.
“The garage doors are close though?”
“Yeah I know I have the garage key” she digs out her keys to get the garage key out. She presses the button and the doors slowly open up. Sokka and Aangs cars are parked in the first two garages, leaving Zuko to park in the third. She jumps out of the car first, walking quickly to the door and unlocking it. She opens the door and walked back to Zuko’s car to help him get out the drinks. They walk in the house, making sure to lock the door and made their way to the kitchen.
“hello!! Any irresponsibility teens home!!”
“in the living room”
Setting the drinks on the kitchen island, the two walked to the living room, a sight Kianna has seen hundreds of times, but Zuko was amazed. And rightfully so, every room in Toph’s house was a beautiful sight. Tophs parents were world famous architects, of course their house would be nothing but art. The living rooms high ceilings brought in the natural light into the room and a perfect view of the enormous back yard a pool could be seen through the celling to floor window.
“looks like Zuko is enjoying Toph’s house” Sokka says, everyone turns to look at the boy, his eyes were wide with amazement.
“Ki you should give him a house tour” suki says. Kianna didn’t even have to look at suki to see she was slightly smirking. ‘I’m starting to regret telling them I like Zuko’
“we can do that another day, right now I’m ready to get smashed”
“ I second that, let’s get this pregame started” everyone cheered as they walked in the kitchen.
“wait” Kianna stops from taking a drink “did you guys party proof the house”
The groan Sokka let out was enough to answer her question.
“alright everyone split up, meet back here in 20 minutes” everyone sets the cups down, walking in different directions while Zuko just stood there.
“come with me Zuko” Kianna chuckles ‘boy does he need to stop acting so new’
she led him to the dining room. This room had the most expensive things on display, and if anything, where broken it wouldn’t be pretty.
“everything you see in here needs to go in the case in the corner so we can lock it up”. Zuko doesn’t say anything back, he just starts picking things up and putting them neatly in the case, the two worked in silence for about 5 minutes until everything was put away. Kianna places the lock on the case, giving it an extra tug to make sure it wouldn’t budge.
“ok all we need to do now is lock the study and we can go drink” she gives him a bright smile, which he returns quickly. He follows her a little more closely now, almost like he’s working up the courage to hold his hand. He was so close she noticed when he wasn’t following her anymore. She turned around to see him looking at a painting, her painting.
“is this the piece you were talking about?” he asked, though his eyes never moved from the painting.
“yes, the Bei-fongs where the first people to hire me, when Toph’s mother found out I could paint she asked me to do this piece, it’s one of my favorites” the painting is of Toph, sitting in the garden that was placed in the back yard, it took Kianna weeks to finish it but it was honestly amazing work, the colors blended together perfectly, the flowers draw beautifully, you would think it was painted by a professional who’s had years of practice, not a 13 yea old girl.
“I had just moved in with them too, at the time they lived in the house I live in now” she takes a few more steps to the door of the study, knowing Zuko could still hear her.
“it took me a while to warm up to Mr. and Mrs. b but when they found my art and showed genuine interest in it, I knew they were good people.” She sighs at the memory
“when if finished it, Mr. b told all his rich friends, I started commissioning pieces for them on the weekends, Mrs. b put all the money I earned and started a fund for me, I’m pretty sure the put their own money in there too.” She locks the door, and twist the handles to check that is was locked.
“so, the Bei-fongs are your parents?” Zuko finally tore his eyes off the masterpiece
“there my adoptive parents, the took me in right before my 13th birthday they gave me there old house a few months ago when I turned 18, I guess they wanted me to have something of my own after not having anything the majority of my life” Zuko turns to face her, looking deeply in her eyes. Both of them getting lost in each other’s eyes, studying each other like they would forget the shing specks of brown and gold.
“it looks like I have a lot to learn about you” he says smiling at her “but I can’t help but be interested and finding out exactly who you are Kianna” ‘wow did he get closer? And god the way he says my nam-“
“KI, ZUKO, WE ARE ABOUT TO DRINK WITH OUT YOU” Tophs yelling startles them both, with a shy smile, she leads him back to the kitchen, immediately getting handed a drink. The teens spend the next two hours drinking, setting up music, and clearing furniture for a spot for people to dance. By the time the crowds of party animal students arrived, Kianna was tipsy, on the verge of being completely drunk. She had lost sight of Zuko for what seems like hours. Being pulled away by other classmates to do shots and chat about how Mr.Piandao test was a bitch. It wasn’t until around midnight that she spotted Zuko talking to some of the boys from the soccer team. The boys looked like they were having a fun conversation, she couldn’t hear what they were saying but before she could look away, Zuko caught her glaze. He tells the boys a quick goodbye and makes his way to her. All she could do was stand there and watch him, it was almost, like everything went is slow motion and maybe she was actually just drunk.
“hey, you having fun” she says as soon as he was close enough to hear her, which was extremely close with the loud music playing.
“yeah I am, some of the guys from the soccer team have been convincing me to play”
“you play soccer, you should totally go for the team”
He shrugs “I played at my old school, I’ve been debating if I should pick it up here, some guys don’t like new people on their team”
She gives him a smile “nah the team isn’t like that, and if you love to play you shouldn’t let other people stop you”
He gives her a soft smile -god that smile- “do you want to come with me to get a refill”
She gives him a nod and turns to walk to the kitchen, he walks with her, and she almost jumps when he places his and on the small of her back, slightly leading her. They get to the kitchen and find it surprisingly empty. Ask Zuko takes her cup to fill it with whatever drink he was drinking she hops up on the island, crossing her ankles so no one could see up her dress
“here try this” he hands her back her cup, she takes sip of the drink and it was so good she ends up chugging the rest.
“geeze slow down “he laughs when she hands him her empty cup filling it for her anyway
“what is that it’s so good!!”
“it’s my own concoction, I call it California surprise, but really slow down on it, the sugar will make you drunk super-fast” he hands her cup, which she takes brushing his finger times lightly. she takes a slow sip before putting the cup down.
“you know I forgot to tell you look really good tonight” she slyly looks at him through her eyelashes “you trying to impress some”
He sets his cup down next to hers “well you look absolutely amazing, did you know red is my favorite color?”
“really, red is mine too”
He raises his eyebrow “well good thing we match huh”
Before she could think of a reply, a familiar tune distracts her
“oh! This is my favorite song, come dance with me!” she dragged Zuko toward the dance floor in the Livingroom, he didn’t put up a fight, so he figured he was ok with it. When the got to the dance floor she turned to him.
“I’m not really a good dance” he says clearly hesitating
“that’s ok, everyone is too drunk to notice” she wraps his ands around her waist and puts her arms around his neck, slightly swaying to the music. Zuko loosened up eventually swaying with her. The two danced to a few songs, then went to the kitchen to get a drink, then going back to dancing. At some point in the night Kianna had he back pressed against Zuko’s chest while they danced. The two were lost in their own world, enjoying each other. They didn’t even notice Katara, Sokka, suki and Aang watching them the whole night. And when the group watched the two disappear to where Kianna’s old room was, all Toph could think was ‘tomorrow morning is going to be really interesting, and imma bout to get paid’
i’ll never make it alone
a/n: part 2 to oh! darling, although it’s not necessary to read that fic in order to read this one. already posted on ao3, just felt like posting it here too bc i crave validation
summary: Tony and Steve bond over a sleepless night.
rating: T, just for a few swears and mental health
warning(s): mainly hints of characters exhibiting PTSD and panic attacks, but hopefully nothing too triggering
The tower was too quiet. Steve never thought he’d miss the roar of train cars passing through Brooklyn or hearing the daily hustle and bustle of the city. New York had been the city that never slept, even in Steve’s day.
Sleeping through the war had been easier than sleeping in the tower, he decided, staring up at the stark white ceiling from the comfort of his bed. Trains to tanks. Hustle and bustle to screams and moans. The war had taught him to fear the quiet moments. There had been no respites or breaks for them, and if things were going too well, it was only going to go to shit later. It had been a fact of life then, and Steve believed in it now.
Goosebumps sprouted like weeds on his arms as the air conditioning kicked on. He tried to ignore it, he really did, but ever since coming out of the ice, he had a hard time staying warm. Steve wasn’t anemic by any means, and yet, even the slightest breeze could set him off.
“Hey, JARVIS?” he asked, the words sounding clumsy in his mouth.
“Yes, Captain Rogers?” came a smooth, distinctly British voice, which, according to Tony, was not in the ceiling.
“Could you turn the air off in my room? Please?”
The AI sounded puzzled. “Are you sure, sir? It’s quite warm out.”
“Please,” Steve repeated. His stomach twisted into a knot. What if JARVIS said no? How would he be able to explain anything to a being who had never known real life and the anguish that came with it?
“...As you wish, sir.”
The air went off with one swift whoosh.
Steve inhaled and closed his eyes. A super-soldier could survive off of less sleep than the average human, but that didn’t mean he liked being sleep-deprived. But the air had already worked its magic. When Steve closed his eyes, all he saw was black water glinting like glass in the sun; An icy abyss calling his name. Cold crept into his lungs, frost coated his skin, and there was that familiar burn only ice could give you, engulfing his blood—
His eyes shot open. The beat of his heart echoed in his ears, sounding too close and too loud. Sleep was going to be a long way off. Throwing his blankets back, Steve sat up and sighed.
“Just one night,” he said to no one in particular. “I just want one night.”
“If you’d like, Captain,” JARVIS said, startling Steve. He didn’t know that the AI could speak unprompted. “Sir is currently in the communal kitchen if you want company.”
“Sir?” His brows furrowed. “Stark?” His panic momentarily forgotten, Steve slid out of bed completely, not really sure where he was going. A session in the gym with one of Stark’s super-soldier grade punching bags sounded swell, but if Stark was in the kitchen, maybe it wouldn’t hurt to seek him out and talk about...something.
He and the tower’s resident genius were on their way to becoming friends. Maybe. Possibly. They were close to becoming whatever came before friends. Most of Steve’s friends hadn’t insulted him and offered him a place to sleep free of charge in the same breath. But Tony Stark was a genius; maybe being eccentric was a requirement.
“What’s he doing up at—“Steve glanced at the clock, “two in the morning?”
“Sir believes that sleep, and I quote, is ‘for the weak.’”
Steve snorted, his mouth turning into an unwitting smile. Eccentric, indeed.
Mind made up, Steve made his way to the kitchen, a blanket wrapped securely around his shoulders. The air was still going full blast outside of his room. Steve gritted his teeth and pulled the blanket tighter around him. “I’m never running out of shields,” he thought.
The elevator ride to the communal kitchen was over all too quickly, and Steve was greeted to the sight of Tony fluttering from counter to counter. Oddly enough, Tony didn’t look out of place in the kitchen, despite having heard many, many horror stories of his past attempts at cooking.
“Hey, Tony,” Steve said in greeting, hovering on the edge of the threshold.
Tony paused mid-flurry and gave him the smallest of smiles. There was something fragile about it that had the edge of broken glass.
“Hey, Steve,” Tony said, nodding at him. “Nice blanket.”
The blanket had been a gag gift, courtesy of Natasha, of course, of Steve in his full USO regalia.
“I had it custom made,” she had said with a smirk, which for Natasha, might as well have been her beaming with pride.
“Thanks,” Steve said, and the conversation died just as soon as it had begun.
Tony started to fidget in place, the silence growing unbearable. Despite living together for three months now, awkwardness still clouded their interactions outside of the battlefield.
“Um,” Steve began. “What are you doing up?”
A shadow passed over Tony’s face, but as quickly as it had appeared, Tony broke out into a grin, and it was gone. “Innovation doesn’t have a curfew, Rogers. Don’t tell me a sketch has never kept you up?”
Steve blinked. “You know that I draw?”
“Of course I do,” Tony said, resuming his motions around the kitchen. “You leave your sketchbooks all over the tower.”
His cheeks burned. “Sorry,” he said. “Didn’t mean to inconvenience you.”
“Please, you? Inconvenience me? You’re talking to the king of inconveniences. Besides,” Tony shrugged as he measured out a few tablespoons of what looked like fresh ground coffee. “You’re good.”
“Thanks,” he said. He was getting all kinds of compliments tonight. “I was in art school before…”
“Everything,” Tony finished.
“Everything,” Steve agreed.
A silence fell over them again. Tony dumped the coffee grounds into a silver Moka pot and set it on the stove.
“You know why I’m up,” Tony said, leaning back against the counter. “But what about you? What’s keeping you awake?”
Steve weighed his options. He could tell Tony the truth, tell him that his brain was fucked, tell him how he couldn’t stand the cold without picturing himself plunging to his death.
Or, he could lie.
“It’s too quiet,” he blurted out. “The tower,” he gestured around them. “It’s...quiet.” That was close enough to the truth, at least.
Tony, thankfully, didn’t laugh at him. “I thought soundproofing the walls would be a good idea. Don’t know too many people who enjoy city life for the noise.”
“I grew up by the tracks,” Steve found himself saying. “It wasn’t the best neighborhood, but it was one of the only places that would rent out to the Irish.”
That was one of the strangest parts of the future. In Steve’s time, the Irish, along with the Italians and the Jewish had been second-class citizens. A step of above people of color, in the eyes of bigots, but only just. All of them had been an afterthought in the collective consciousness of WASP America.
“I knew that,” Tony said, his voice going low. The Moka pot bubbled away on the stovetop, the rich smell of coffee, hitting Steve’s nose.
“You seem to know an awful lot about me,” Steve said.
“Your buddy, Howard, thought tales about his old war pals were appropriate bedtime stories for a child.”
Steve frowned. A bitter note had seeped into their conversation that always occurred whenever Howard was brought up in Tony’s presence. Steve may have known the man during the war, but that didn’t mean he was the same man who Tony had called “Father”. During the war, Howard had always been loud. Flashy. The most conspicuous person in the room.
“That man wouldn’t know the meaning of subtlety if it whacked him over the head with a frying pan,” he remembered Peggy saying, her crimson lips pursed in distaste as Howard chatted up an SSR secretary.
“Why a frying pan?” Steve had mused.
“They’re sturdy, for one,” she had said, matter-of-factly. “And quite hard to miss.”
Steve remembered the secretary had slapped Howard upside his head after one too many risqué remarks. In hindsight, Peggy was right, not that Steve ever doubted her. A frying pan would have been just as, if not more, sufficient.
That man had apparently settled down and raised a child who was staring at him with something dark and dangerous pooling in his eyes. Steve would have to tread carefully.
“As smart as he was, he didn’t have much sense, did he?” he said with all the caution of someone approaching a stray animal.
Tony’s posture lost some of its rigidity. “No. He didn’t.”
Silence again. If someone asked him, he couldn’t tell them why, but at that moment, Steve wanted to hear what Tony had to say. About anything. About everything.
“Stop lurking in the shadows like a creep,” Tony said. “Unless you’re trying to do a Fury impersonation, then by all means continue. You’re missing the eyepatch, though.”
Steve huffed, but even he couldn’t hide his amusement. The thought of Fury sitting in the dark with a fuzzy blanket draped over him instead of his usual leather duster made for a decidedly less intimidating picture. And if Tony was joking around, then the danger of mentioning Howard had passed. Steve entered the kitchen completely and took a seat at the island right across from where Tony stood.
“You’re drinking coffee at two in the morning?” he said, arching a brow as Tony took the now whistling Moka pot off the burner.
“Not coffee,” Tony corrected. “Marocchino,” he said, placing a can of cocoa powder onto the counter.
“Still has caffeine,” Steve said, mainly because Tony was so easy to rile up.
“‘Still has caffeine’,” Tony mocked, his voice going up a pitch. “That’s what you sound like. Don’t you chastise me, Rogers.”
Steve chuckled, raising his hands in surrender. “My apologies,” he said. “Must be an important project.”
“All of my projects are important,” Tony said. He pulled a glass out from under the island, paused as if he were pondering something, then pulled out a second glass.
Steve drank in every sure movement of Tony’s as he dusted both glasses in cocoa powder, and carefully poured the steaming espresso and milk into each cup. He sprinkled more cocoa over the top of each glass with a flourish before pushing one towards Steve.
“Drink up, Cap.”
Steve gingerly grabbed the cup and blew at the steam.
Tony held his glass in front of him. “Toast?”
“What are we toasting?”
“To sleepless nights,” Tony said, sounding perhaps more serious than Steve had ever heard him. “And the things that keep us up.”
As Tony looked at him with those dark eyes of his, his glass aloft, he realized this wasn’t Tony Stark, CEO. Tony Stark, son of a legend. Not even Tony Stark, Avenger. This was Tony Stark without a mask.
“To sleepless nights,” Steve echoed. Their glasses met with the lightest of clinks. Steve’s fingers brushed against Tony’s as he pulled his drink away. It was nothing, really. Barely a glance. And yet a light jolt zipped through his fingertips and left him feeling unsettled.
If Tony had also been shocked, he made no mention of it, instead downing his espresso with gusto. Steve watched the bob of Tony’s throat, feeling hot beneath the collar. The coffee was already getting to him, and he hadn’t even taken a sip yet.
Steve took his espresso like a shot. The coffee surged through him, driving away the cold that had settled into his bones. The cocoa was sweet and creamy on his tongue. Of course, Tony wouldn’t waste money on the cheap imitation stuff made with powdered milk.
“Was it as good for you as it was for me?” Tony asked, his eyes twinkling.
Steve burst out laughing, maybe the first genuine laugh he’d managed since coming out of the ice. At that moment, ice and the cold were the furthest things from his mind.
“Even better,” he said, perhaps too earnestly, but that was between him and God. “I wouldn’t mind a refill.”
Tony’s answering smile was blinding. His eyes were all crinkled in the corners, the way they did whenever Tony was truly happy. Not that Steve spent a lot of time memorizing Tony’s smiles.
The tension from earlier had (hopefully) disappeared for good.
“He should always smile like that,” Steve thought. Tony’s smile could drive a blizzard away.
They sat there for the rest of the night until the sun crept over the horizon, flooding the kitchen with light and something warm and golden had curled in Steve’s chest.
CAFFEINE
Pairing/s: Pre-romantic/Romantic Intrulogical, background romantic Prinxiety, background pre-romantic Moceit (just mentions though)
Word Count: 5,166
Warning/s: misunderstandings, some cussing. (Let me know if you want me to edit this I’ve never written for tumblr before!) kinda ooc! Remus but he’s emotional and it’s mostly a Logan centric fic.
A/N: So this is the first time I’m posting on tumblr, if you want to read it on AO3 here is the link ——> https://archiveofourown.org/works/26729227 but be warned! The story is formatted for a computer moreso than a phone so there are very long paragraphs I’m sorry!! I’m fixing the formatting for the post though (ITS SUPER LONG IM SORRY 🥺🥺🥺👉🏼👈🏼) this is a songfic btw! Song is called Caffeine by Fly By Midnight and I love it it reminded me of intrulogical immediately for some reason and I was forced to write this basically.
Logan was at his desk, laptop open but he wasn’t focused on it. He had come to a startling and scary realization the day before when he had been sitting in the kitchen watching as Roman and Remus bickered over ideas for Thomas to use. He had watched as Remus poured unholy amounts of what looked like raspberry flavored syrup (at least he thinks it was syrup it had the consistency of syrup and the color of raspberries..) onto his bacon and eggs. He had happened to glance over at Remus and Remus had looked at him, smiled a quick flash before pulling him into the debate of ideas. When he had finished Remus’s smile was blinding and he had felt something stir in his chest.
He had ignored it at the time but later that night it had happened again, again caused by Remus. His heart fluttered when Remus smiled at him a quick bright thing like the flash of a camera before turning back to whomever he was talking to. He quickly excused himself and all but ran to his room. Logan prided himself on not having feelings, at least that’s what he told everyone else. Logan did have feelings, he just didn’t like them. But he had never had these feelings before. He had felt them of course, whenever Thomas had a crush or was in a relationship so he knew what they were but he personally had never had them before. Before Janus and Remus were accepted he hadn’t thought that he ever would have these feelings. Virgil and Roman had gotten together fairly quickly and Patton was more of a brother to him, and he had never seen him in a romantic sense. He just thought he didn’t have enough emotion to have romantic feelings, but what he felt just now had ruined all of that and now he had a problem.
Logan didn’t want romantic feelings. Hell, he didn’t want feelings at all, and he tried his best to repress them. But these unwanted things that affected Logan more than he liked to admit were persistent. He didn’t know how to deal with them. He thought back, trying to pinpoint the exact moment these feelings started and could only think of the amount of time hes been spending with the embodiment of intrusive thoughts. He had never had a problem with Remus, and sometimes sought him out for conversations, but once he was accepted he had started talking to him more, spending more and more time with him and his feelings had apparently grown from there. Maybe if he didn’t spend as much time with Remus as he did the feelings would go away? It was a stretch but it was all he could think of. So with a plan in mind he shut down his computer and went to bed.
Off in the imagination, Remus smiled to himself as he created stars and galaxies. He knew he had a crush on the resident nerd and he was really hoping that Logan liked him back, but he would wait for now and just enjoy his company as friends. He had always liked the nerd, when he had been a “Dark” side Logan was the only “Light” side who had tolerated him. Roman had come around, wanting to mend their broken bond but even he could get fed up with Remus’s constant chatter and rapid thought process. Logan never did, he always kept pace with Remus, always had. And he never shied away when topics took a darker turn. He rolled with the waves and explained, expanded upon, or dismembered the thoughts Remus couldn’t control and couldn’t filter and was never disgusted by them.
He listened to Remus in a way none of the others ever had. Even Janus had to stop him sometimes, the thoughts Remus spewed disturbing the deceitful side. But now that he was accepted, he had been spending more and more time with Logan and he was loving every minute of it! He pulled him into debates or just talked to him for hours and never got bored listening to him ramble about whatever was on his mind. He was cute the way he lit up whenever Remus asked him to explain or elaborate on whatever topic he was talking about. Remus flung the last of the stars into the sky and sunk into his room ready for a good rest. He had a million things he wanted to ask Logan about space, one of his special interests he found out last week and he also wanted to show him what he made tonight. Sleep took him quickly, a smile on his face.
The next morning Remus eagerly waited for Logan to come to breakfast, he wanted to show him a new recipe he had found and wanted to get Logan’s input on the best way to get Thomathy to make it for the Halloween party he was planning. But as the hour dragged by and Logan still hadn’t come down for breakfast, which was weird and slightly alarming as he almost never changed his schedule, Remus got worried. He decided to check on Logan and see if he was sick or something and quickly made his way upstairs to Logan’s room. He knocked on the door, if a bit too fast and waited as patiently as he could until he heard Logan call a quiet “Come in.”
He swung the door open, unintentionally slamming it against the wall and cringing slightly before bounding into the room. He looked around, he had been in Logan’s room before, he had been in everyone’s room before when he wasn’t accepted. He was always trying to spook everyone and catch them off guard, but Logan usually ignored him. With his acceptance his intrusive thoughts had calmed some, and he wasn’t as well, intrusive, as he used to be. He was still loud, he was still as hyperactive as ever and he still lacked a filter most days. But he was getting better, and he was trying to be better for Thomas. He stood in the middle of Logan’s room, closing the door with a snap of his fingers as he watched his crush type away on his laptop. He frowned when Logan didn’t turn to greet him but he shrugged and walked over to the Logical side’s desk.
“Watcha workin’ on Logie Bear?” He asked leaning over Logan and plopping his head onto his shoulder. He felt Logan freeze up, though he didn’t stop typing, which was weird. He hadn’t done that since they were teens, so he immediately pulled his head away and took a step back. Maybe he’s just stressed? He waiting as he watched Logan turn around and fix his glasses, a tick he had noticed he did whenever he was thinking. “Hello Remus.” He said it with none of the warmth that Remus had become accustomed to in the recent months and he was taken aback by it, but before he could even begin processing that he was interrupted.
“To answer your question, I am working on fixing Thomas’s schedule for next week. Since yourself and Roman have been pulling him into the Imagination more often he has been neglecting his real-world duties like laundry, washing the dishes, and a multitude of other things. Hopefully, you can convince Roman to keep a clear schedule next week. I am asking you to as well, though I know it will be hard “When Creativity strikes” as the saying goes but please try and withhold in for at least this next week. I have the weekend open for him if you and your brother do have any urges.” Remus stood there, his mouth slightly agape as Logan finally looked him in the eyes.
Remus blinked a few times before nodding voice subdued as he responded “Sure Lo, I’ll- I’ll try. And I’ll tell Roman too give him a heads up!” He smiled though it felt forced and quickly left the room. When Logan had looked at him, it was as if they hadn’t been spending these last few months together, He was closed up again, the strict no-nonsense mask he wore around everyone but him was... back up. What had happened?
Remus felt a tightness in his chest, but he took a few deep breaths and decided that Logan was just having a bad day. He and Roman have been hogging a majority of Thomas’s time this past week. Because they were allowed to work together again, they had been on fire giving Thomas amazing ideas and flying through the imagination fighting Gloria (the Dragonwitch) and her hordes of armies and other adventures. He shrugged off his bad thoughts and quickly went to find RoRo to tell him about Logan’s plan for the next week.
Logan sighed as Remus left the room. He rubbed his eyes and slumped in his seat as he tried to ignore the warmth of where Remus’s head had laid on his shoulder.
How had he not noticed that he liked Remus in a romantic way? How had he let himself get so comfortable that he had let his feelings creep in and take hold of his heart? He sighed and turned back to his desk glancing at the picture he had there. It was about a week after Janus and Remus had been accepted that Thomas insisted they took this photo, all of the sides plus Thomas in the middle. Virgil was sitting on Roman’s lap; Patton was leaning into two pairs of Janus’s arms and Remus had his arm thrown around Logan’s shoulders head thrown back as the others looked at him with varying degrees of disgust and embarrassment. Logan chuckled as he remembered the filthy joke Remus had told to get that reaction, and then he sighed as his eyes lingered on Remus’s form. He felt the ghost warmth of that arm thrown over his shoulder and squeezed his eyes shut.
This was for the best. He was Logic, he didn’t have feelings, or at least he shouldn’t. And besides even if he admitted to liking him, Remus would never reciprocate his feelings. So he rubbed his eyes, fixed his tied and went back to work. He had noticed that Remus had seemed off this morning, but he brushed it off and tried to focus on his work.
It had been three weeks, and everyone knew something was up with Logan and Remus. Logan had been acting a little too normal almost cold in his dealings with the others and Remus had been holed up in his room most of the time, and when he wasn’t in his room he kept to the imagination and only talked to Roman. Every time he was within viewing distance of Logan, he shot him wounded looks before leaving the room. The four sides decided to get to the bottom of this and set a meeting time aside for later that night after subtly observing the other two.
After dinner that night Janus, Patton, Roman, and Virgil met up in Janus’s room to discuss their observations of the day. Roman sighed before starting. “Remus has been acting odd these last few weeks as everyone knows. I tried to talk to him about why he seemed so down but all he did was yell ‘Fuck off bro’ before hitting me over the head with his morning star and running off into the woods.” He rubbed his head, presumably where Remus had hit him but there was no longer any wounds or lesions on his head that showed the damage. Virgil pulled him into a sideways hug and kissed his cheek. Janus glanced at Patton. Patton sighed and started fiddling with his hoodie sleeves.
“Logan looked was pretty out of it. He had about 10 empty coffee cups on his desk and he was all disheveled and when I asked how he was doing he said ‘fine.’ But I don’t think he's doing fine guys.” He said as he looked around the room. Janus nodded as Patton’s gaze landed on him. “I heard his lie about being fine, but I couldn’t pinpoint why exactly he wasn’t fine.” Virgil sighed as he leaned into Roman’s side. “I could feel both Logan and Remus’s anxiety spike when you asked them but it was more of a general anxiety nothing I could pinpoint.” They all looked at each other helplessly until Roman stood up. “I’m going to see my brother and figure this out I don’t care if I have to tie him to a chair!” He stormed off before the others could even think to stop him and they all hoped he could get through to Remus.
Remus was laying sprawled out like a starfish on his bed, humming a song he had heard as Thomas was scrolling through Instagram. His intrusive thoughts had been getting bad again without Logan there to counteract and break them down for him and he was starting to lose his head again. He could feel himself losing his already loose grip on reality every day that passed and he didn’t want anybody to think he was going back to how he was before he was accepted so he tried to stay in his room as much as possible and smash out the intrusive thoughts he had in the Imagination whenever he could. His head was swirling right now as Roman had interrupted him before he had a chance to create and then promptly destroy the thoughts so he was now laying in his room everything smashed to bits and chest hurting as he thought of why Logan would’ve cut him off. He was trying to be good!
He was trying his damn hardest but Logan had been helping him so much so the sudden cut had him dizzy for more than one reason. The only thing he could think that happened was that Logan had found out about his crush and decided to stop interacting with him. The painful thought as well as the others clouding his mind brought him to tears and he didn’t even notice Roman barge into the room until he was being hugged by him. He let himself cry as he was pulled into a warm embrace and his thoughts finally started to calm down. “Oh Rem, tell me what’s wrong?” He heard his brother whisper and he struggled his way through stuttering sobs as he told Roman that he had had a crush on Logan and he must have found out about it because Logan had started pushing him away three weeks ago and his thoughts were getting worse without him because his logic dismantled them and and-
Remus was cut off as Roman squeezed him again and told him he would handle it. Remus nodded and laid back down on his bed as his room playing the damn song he had stuck in his head and only making him cry harder.
“Vacant head in this empty bed yeah I think I’m losing it, I’m pretty sure I’m losing it. It’s messed up nice that you’re my vice and I keep on using it, it’s probably why I’m losing it. Thinking in circles when we’re not together and fighting it won’t make it better…”
Remus cried into his pillow as the song continued and eventually played on a loop, and Roman got ready for a fight.
Roman barged into Logan’s room slamming the door open and sword pointed at the Logical side who was more than shocked to say the least. Not that he showed it. “Roman, what can I help you with?” he asked as he turned to face the creative side. He had been holed up in his room for the better part of the last three weeks only going out for necessity but those time he had seen Remus had his heart racing with unwanted and useless feelings. “Remus is distraught and is declining in health mentally because of whatever you did Microsoft Turd, so I suggest you apologize and at least have the courtesy to keep a professional relationship with him!” He said vehemently and Logan was, well more than confused. “Roman, please elaborate I have no idea what you are talking about and I haven’t even seen Remus for more than a few seconds these past few weeks so I couldn’t have done anything to him.”
Roman paused and seemed to think about something before abruptly sheathing his sword and pulling Patton into the room. Logan looked on as Roman whispered something into Patton’s ear, who then looked over at Logan for a brief second eyes wide before he closed them and seemed to concentrate. His eyes flew open and he nodded to roman who sighed and rubbed his face roughly. “Thank you Padre, I’ll handle it from here.” Was all Logan heard before he was once again alone with the Creative side. Roman took a deep breath before looking at Logan, disheveled and downright messy, eyes bloodshot and hair a mess. He walked closer to Logan who warily accepted this quiet scrutiny. “You’re in love with Remus.”
It was a statement not a question, but Logan tried to deny it anyway. “While I love Remus in a platonic sense, I am not in fact in love with him as you say. I cannot fall in love, I am Logic.” The words burned his throat as he stared down Roman who plopped onto his bed similarly to the way Remus used to do. “Specs, if you forgot, which I am sure you did with the amount of caffeine running through your body at the moment, I am not just creativity. I could sense something was off between you and Rem, but I couldn’t place it until I asked Patton a question. A simple question. Do you know what that question is?”
Roman studied Logan as he thought through what he could have possibly asked Patton, nothing he could think of and yet he had started to panic slightly. He shook his head and looked to Roman who sighed. “You really are out of it aren’t you Lo? I asked Patton if he could sense love coming from you, and when he confirmed that he could it clicked. You’re in love with Remus. You have romantic feelings for him.” Logan stared at Roman with panic in his eyes. He was found out. “Please do not tell Remus.” He finally whispered hands running through his already messy hair. He couldn’t look Roman in the eyes.
“Logan look at me please.” He heard a soft voice request and he looked up at Roman who had moved closer. He put a hand on Logan’s shoulder and squeezed it slightly. “Why are you trying to deny your feelings? Just because you’re logic doesn’t mean you cant have feelings or fall in love with anyone. You aren’t just Logic, you’re also Logan. The nerd who geeks out over space and loves crofters and so many other things. You can have these feelings.”
Logan was trying his best not to tear up but there were unshed tears in his eyes as he listened to what Roman was saying. “But how can I be logic if I have feelings? Feelings are illogical and messy and- and-“ Roman squeezed his shoulder again and Logan looked up into his eyes. “Feelings are a part of being Human teach. You may embody logic, but you are a part of a human and that means that you also can have these feelings. If you didn’t have these feelings that would make you a robot and you are not a robot, no matter how hard you try to be one.”
Logan closed his eyes fighting the tears that wanted to escape. “Even if I do have feelings for Remus, he doesn’t return them. How am I supposed to face him?” he asked, his voice cracking. Roman sighed. “Logan, I know for a fact that Remus likes you back. I didn’t need Patton to tell me, he told me himself. It’s why I came here in the first place. I was gonna fight you for hurting my brother but by the way you looked I had a feeling you were hurting as much as he was. You need to go talk to him Lo. He’s been doing so good with you but when you cut him off everything started spiraling for him. He thinks you hate him for having feelings for you.”
Logan looked at Roman in disbelief, that couldn’t be right but then, thinking back on the few seconds he had seen Remus these past weeks he had seemed to be sad. Oh no. “I messed up didn’t I?” Roman chuckled and stepped away from his friend, “You should go talk to him Lo. I think it’ll work out in the end.” Logan nodded and wiped the tears from his eyes before straightening his tie. “Thank you Roman.” He said before sinking out. Roman chuckled and left the room to go tell the others that everything was gonna be fine.
Logan rose outside of Remus’s door, about to knock when he heard crying. He quickly sunk into the Creative side’s room only to be met by a song being played loudly, permeating the room and intruding his thoughts.
“Bloodshot eyes, no I can’t focus since I let you in. Ever since I let you in. Every high, like a crashing ocean its been sinking in, ever since I let you in” The lyrics pulled at a chord in his chest as he listened to more of the words. “Thinking in circles when we’re not together, If I let you go I’ll be better. I don’t know what I’m chasing, I’m smoking, I’m pacing hours go by like forever, now I’m like-“ He walked further into the room looking for Remus and finally spotted him on top of a broken bed face in the blankets and shoulders shaking. The song continued. “I want you, it’s way too late, I’m restless, I’m wide awake. Every time I lay down I can’t sleep, you’re keeping me up like caffeine.”
Logan walked closer to Remus and gently touched his shoulder. Remus startled and sat up makeup smudged and eyes red and puffy as he looked into Logan’s eyes. “Remus, please stop the music. We need to talk.” Remus scrunched up his face but the music only got louder. “Ah,” Logan muttered before waving his hand and stopping the music. “I’m sorry the song was s-stuck in my head and I c-couldn’t get it out a-and the harder I tried the louder it got.” He said, stuttering through hiccups his voice raw. Logan tentatively sat down next to Remus on the bed and watched as Remus scoot over but didn’t look at him.
“Anyways, what did you need Logie Bear?” he asked trying to sound like his normal self but Logan could hear the pain under his weak façade. Logan reached out for Remus’s hand, slow enough that he could pull away if he wanted to, Logan was happy he didn’t. “I wanted to apologize for how I’ve been acting these past few weeks. I… well I had come to some startling conclusions and decided to try and ignore them but all I did was end up hurting the both of us.” Remus finally looked towards Logan and the hope and pain in his eyes made Logan ache he hadn’t meant to cause Remus any pain, hadn’t known he had the power to but this look flayed him and he knew that he had.
He took a deep breath before continuing. “I had come to the conclusion that I had romantic feelings toward you, but in my hasty decision that I shouldn’t have these feelings I hadn’t taken into consideration the thought that you might feel them as well. I was trying to avoid you so I could stop my feelings from growing, not because I knew you had feelings I did not reciprocate. And I am so sorry for hurting you Remus.”
Remus had fresh tears streaming down his face and he launched himself at Logan. “I thought all those thoughts were about how you couldn’t like me not that you thought you couldn’t like anyone in general!” he exclaimed as he hung onto Logan’s neck head pressed into his neck. Logan was confused for a moment before he remembered that Remus embodied intrusive thoughts as well as creativity. He knew everyone’s intrusive thoughts and fears, and he was able to take them away from the others so the thoughts didn’t affect them, but that meant he was stuck with them looping in his mind until either Logan helped him dismantle them or he killed them enough times. Glancing around the room he realized he hadn’t been able to kill the thoughts yet.
 Logan hugged Remus a little tighter rubbing soothing circles on his back as he let Remus cry, whispering soothing words into his ear. Eventually Remus calmed down and sat back to look at Logan. He sniffed before asking, “So, you have feelings for me Lolo?” He smiled a watery smile but the question was genuine. “Yes.” Logan replied nodding his head in affirmation. Remus squealed and did a whole body wiggle “I like you too Logan.” He said excitement growing with every word. They would have to talk more but both were exhausted so Logan took Remus’s hand and brought him to his room, changing their clothes with a snap and ushered Remus into bed with him. Remus sighed contently as he cuddled with the logical side. “Thank you.” He whispered and Logan smiled and pulled Remus closer.
“You have nothing to be thankful for Remus. Thank you, for putting up with me being irrational.” Remus chuckled softly and tilted his head far enough back to softly kiss Logan’s chin. “Not very logical of you Lo,” he giggled quietly and Logan couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped him as well. “No, it wasn’t. Now sleep cephy, we can talk more in the morning.” He felt Remus freeze for a second before he wiggled happily “I like that name, Cephy. It fits.” Remus manifested his tentacles and took off Logan’s glasses placing them on the bedside table and turning off the lamp before retracting them. Logan was shocked, but exhaustion was taking over. “Remind me to ask you about those when we wake up.” He whispered and felt a nod as he drifted off.
Six months later
Logan sat at his desk his laptop open in front of him, but he was just staring at its black screen. He was tired but he had to finish this schedule for Thomas or else he wouldn’t be prepared for the next week of editing and filming. Logan rubbed his bloodshot eyes glasses discarded on the desktop next to the sleeping computer. He startled when he felt arms hug him from behind before he remembered that Remus was in his room with him. “Come to bed Lolo you can do this in the morning.” He whispered, the start of a whine in his voice. Logan leaned his head against Remus’s arm for a few moments before sitting up and sighing.
“Remus, I can’t I have to finish this tonight or else Thomas is going to be set back for days when he needs to be editing and re-filming. I’ll come to bed as soon as I am finished, I promise.” He looked to his boyfriend who had sat on the edge of the bed waiting for whatever it was Logan was going to say, He ran his fingers through his hair and nodded flopping backwards like a starfish. Logan looked at him for a few seconds, a small smile on his face before he yawned. He needed coffee. He stood up and after giving Remus’s leg a squeeze he left his room and went downstairs.
Dating Remus was like nothing he had ever imagined, and yet it was everything he wanted, He smiled again as he thought of his boyfriend. He was a handful sometimes, but he loved him with everything he was. Sometimes, before he and Remus got together he had felt like he was in a vast ocean, untouchable and unfeeling but then he let Remus into his life and suddenly he felt as though he had surfaced the ocean, gasping for breath he hadn’t known he needed. He hadn’t always liked the feeling.
When he had first realized he had feelings for the Duke he had thrown himself into his work ignoring his feelings and avoiding the attractive creative side which was hard considering he had finally been accepted and now resided alongside the rest of them the “dark commons” merged with the light and now they lived with nice shades of grey instead of blinding white or encompassing black. He spent way too long and many, many caffeine fueled nights working on anything and everything that had crossed his desk. But no matter what he did or didn’t do he couldn’t get Remus out of his head. Thoughts circled back to their scant interactions and his heart rate increased every time he seen the creative side but he refused to act on his feelings. He was Logic and logic didn’t have things like feelings (except when he did).
It all came to a head when Roman had barged into his room one day demanding he apologize for whatever he had done to his brother. Logan hadn’t realized that Remus had returned his hidden feelings, or that it was affecting his creativity as well as Thomas. It had taken a while for Roman to convince Logan that Remus cared about him too, Logan had been repressing his feelings for a while not to mention his feelings for Remus, but eventually he was able to confront Remus and admit his feelings. He had never been so scared or so happy than the day they got together. He walked into his room, mug of coffee held tightly and glanced lovingly at his boyfriend. He looked at the time 3:35, before looking back at the bed.
Remus looked so prone and exposed when he slept. He sighed and set his coffee onto the desk next to his laptop before shutting it down. He snapped his fingers and was in his pajamas which consisted of a worn Nasa shirt and some dark grey sweats. He took off his glasses and lay next to Remus who immediately turned around and snugged up to him, head under his chin and hands gripping his shirt. He chuckled softly. “You win my little octopus. I hope you’re happy.” Remus sighed into his chest and smiled before leaning up to kiss Logan's chin. “I am.” He responded softly snuggling closer. Logan kissed the top of his head and squeezed Remus. “I’m glad I let you in.” he whispered softly as he finally drifted off to sleep.
