Hey, That's My Sister! - A Hope In Tragedy one-shot
A/N: This is super short and I hope you enjoy this little moment with our three favorite characters. I know I should be editing the last couple of chapters of the main story but this randomly popped into my head and wouldn't get out until I wrote it down. Hey, at least I'm writing again!
After a long day Tristan, Chase, and MC are all sitting around a bonfire in front of Chase's house drinking.
"So last night Lilly and I–" Chase starts before immediately being cut off.
"Hey, that's my sister! I don't need any details."
"First of all," Chase holds up his finger" that isn’t even where I was going with that, and second if I have to watch you be all lovey-dovey with my sister every damn day, the least you could do is listen to me talk about yours."
MC looks down, nervously picking at the label on her beer bottle before deciding to speak. "You know, Chase, you could do a hell of a lot better than Lilly."
"Hey, that's my sister!"
"That doesn't make her any less of a bitch, Tristan!" She sits back in her chair and sighs. "I may have forgiven her for trying to destroy our lives but that doesn't mean I want her dating my brother."
They fall into an uncomfortable silence as neither Chase nor Tristan knows what to say to that.
"You know, Tristan," Chase says while trying not to laugh, "you could do a lot better than MC. She is a murderer after all."
"That was self-defense and you know it! Shouldn't you be on my side and telling me I could do better than him or something"
"Bros before hoes." Chase shrugs.
"I am your sister, jackass!"
"Doesn't make you any less of a hoe." Tristan says with a smirk before taking a sip of his beer.
"Hey, that's my sis– wait," Chase points his bottle at MC, "he does have a point. You did throw yourself at the first guy to give you any attention after he died."
"It was him the whole time!
"You didn't know that!" Chase and Tristan both yell at the same time.
"I'm done with both of you." MC stands up and walks towards the house.
"Wait, MC, don't go we were just having fun." Tristan motions for her to come back.
She turns around, crosses her arms over her chest, and glares at him. "Yeah, well, maybe you two should date each other then!"
"Oh, don't be ridiculous. I could never date someone who's been with my sister." Tristan calls out causing Chase to burst into a fit of laughter that he soon joins.
"Fucking idiots." MC laughs to herself as she storms into the house in search of something stronger than beer to help her deal with those two.

I Saw the TV Glow is such a uniquely, devastatingly queer story. Two queer kids trapped in suburbia. Both of them sensing something isn’t quite right with their lives. Both of them knowing that wrongness could kill them. One of them getting out, trying on new names, new places, new ways of being. Trying to claw her way to fully understanding herself, trying to grasp the true reality of her existence. Succeeding. Going back to help the other, to try so desperately to rescue an old friend, to show the path forward. Being called crazy. Because, to someone who hasn’t gotten out, even trying seems crazy. Feels crazy. Looks, on the surface, like dying.
And to have that other queer kid be so terrified of the internal revolution that is accepting himself that he inadvertently stays buried. Stays in a situation that will suffocate him. Choke the life out of him. Choke the joy out of him. Have him so terrified of possibly being crazy that he, instead, lives with a repression so extreme, it quite literally is killing him. And still, still, he apologizes for it. Apologizes over and over and over, to people who don’t see him. Who never have. Who never will. Because it’s better than being crazy. Because it’s safer than digging his way out. Killing the image everyone sees to rise again as something free and true and authentic. My god. My god, this movie. It shattered me.

hopeless time loop. the way out isn’t to save everyone. the way out isn’t to save even one person. the way out isn’t to change anything. the way out is accepting how it happened the first time is how it always will be. that’s how you acted, that’s how they acted, that’s how you would have acted every time if you weren’t given the curse of hindsight. the way out is accepting you can’t fix the past; you can only forgive yourself for it.

It's been so long does anyone actually care about the conclusion of Hope in Tragedy anymore? Well for those who do, I have written two new chapters. The first should be up late tonight or early tomorrow.
The ending is still going to be the same but how we get there is going to be a bit different than I originally planned.

Gamora not ending up with Peter subvert our “soul-mate” expectations. In another life, Peter and Gamora were soulmates. They grew and made each other better and their love was sincere. But that Gamora is gone.
2014!Gamora isn’t Peter’s Gamora. Just because she could find happiness with him doesn’t mean she should. She found love and happiness with other people and we can’t hold it against her.
