“I’ll catch up,” you tell Tim.

He nods once and tunes out Lucy as she walks beside him. The bullpen is crowded because of a busy day in Los Angeles, but you have something more important on your mind.

“Angela, can we talk?” you ask as you approach her desk.

“Of course,” she answers. “Is everything okay? Baby okay?”

“Yeah, yeah, we’re good.” You lay your hand over your not yet existent bump and smile. “I’m ready to tell Tim, but I want to surprise him with the pregnancy announcement. He’s not… conventional, right? So, I just wanted to ask if you had any ideas for how I can tell him, how I can make it special?”

“Not conventional is certainly a good description of Tim Bradford,” Angela agrees playfully. “Honestly, you know better than I do what he’d consider to be special. I think you should tell him sooner rather than later.”

You nod and look over your shoulder toward Tim. He deserves a memorable announcement; it’s his first child and he’s going to be an amazing father, so you want to make sure he knows that.

“Blue and pink target practice,” Angela suggests. “Nothing like a gun range jump scare.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

Wade yells your name, and you thank Angela before you return to the crowd of police officers. He says your name again before he adds, “Bradford, Nolan, and Chen, we’ve got a domestic call off Wilshire. Take care of that and get back here. ACH!”

“Anything can happen,” Lucy murmurs. “But it’s never fun.”

“ACHBINF,” Nolan agrees.

“Are you okay?” Tim asks as he falls into step beside you.

“Yeah, I’m good. Love this time of year when we have to send two cops to a call and two cops to protect the others,” you reply.

“Hey, what’s it like being married?” Lucy asks as you enter the garage.

“Depends on the marriage,” Nolan answers. “Why? Are you getting married?”

“Not today,” Lucy answers. “Just curious.”

“Nolan’s right,” Tim agrees. “It depends on the marriage.”

“I love being married,” you tell her. “But it’s nothing to rush into.”

“I just want to meet someone,” Lucy groans. “And you guys are no help.”

“Yeah, I married my partner,” you say, winking at Tim.

“And Nolan’s divorced,” Tim points out.

“Okay!” you announce. “Before this gets worse and turns into a competition of who has or had the better marriage – because it’s me and Tim – we need to go.”

“Yes, ma’am,” Lucy agrees. “ACHBINF.”

Tim grunts as he slams the car door, and you smile. As long as that isn’t his response to your pregnancy announcement, you’re amused by his grumpiness.

“There’s nobody here,” Tim says as he looks through a dirty window.

“This is the address. They said they were watching the argument from across the street,” you explain. “So, it’s either a setup or a prank.”

“Bradford!” Nolan calls as he moves out of the yard. “There’s a black SUV moving slowly toward us.”

“Tell dispatch, and get through to Grey,” Tim demands. “Stay down.”

You move with Tim, staying low as you move toward the shop. The black SUV is several houses away, but it only rolls a foot or so before it stops for thirty seconds, then moves again.

“Option 3, someone’s trying to steal a stick shift and can’t drive it,” you joke.

“It’s never that easy,” Tim replies.

“ACHBINF?” you ask.

“Don’t,” Tim murmurs as he watches the car. “We need to make contact before they get close enough to do something.”

“I can go through yards and come up behind them.”

“No, we don’t know what the back looks like. Nolan, where are you and Chen?”

“Behind the shop,” Nolan answers. “On the other side of the street from you.”

“Stay in position,” Tim radios.

A shot fires somewhere nearby, but it echoes so you can’t tell where it originated from.

“The car’s a distraction,” you and Tim say together.

“Backup is two minutes out,” Lucy calls over the radio. “We don’t have time!”

“I’m shooting at the SUV,” Tim tells you. “Cover me.”

You trade places with Tim and press your back to the shop as you cover him. Before you can alert Tim of movement beside the house you were called to, someone fires again. You feel the sting of the bullet against your vest but rise to your knees and return fire. Tim notices your movement and lowers beside you. When the shooter drops his gun and tips back, Tim rushes to him as Lucy and Nolan run to stop the black SUV. You lean back against the shop and run your hand over your uniform. It’s tinted red with blood when you pull it back, and you gently press your fingers against your side. The bullet missed your vest by less than an inch, and your first thought is that the bullet may have gone in sideways.

“No, no, no,” you whisper as you press your hands to your lower stomach.

With the pressure, your bleeding increases with nothing to stop it. Tim rounds the corner of the house with the shooter in handcuffs but pushes him to the ground when he sees you. You’re losing blood quickly, and Tim sees your hands in the wrong place, which immediately concerns him. If you didn’t tell him you were shot and are causing it to bleed more, you must be in shock or hemorrhaging.

“Nolan, get over here!” Tim radios.

He kneels beside you and presses his hands to your side as you try to force a hand under your vest.

“Get me an ambulance!” Tim demands. “Officer down!”

“Tim, I’m pregnant,” you blurt out. “You have to make sure the baby is okay.”

Tim shakes his head and tells you to stay calm. Nolan loads the shooter into the back of his shop and tells Tim the ambulance is approaching.

“Promise you’ll make sure the baby’s okay,” you repeat.

She doesn’t know what she’s talking about, Tim thinks. That thought only increases his worry because you’re losing blood and not making any sense.

“What happened?” the paramedic asks as he approaches your side.

“GSW to her side,” Tim replies.

Your eyes flutter closed as they wrap your side, and you don’t mention ‘the baby’ again. Tim asks the paramedic which hospital you are going to and follows your ambulance in his shop. As he drives, he wonders where the “I’m pregnant” announcement came from. It’s something he wants but hearing it because you were losing blood causes his hands to shake. He reminds himself to focus and control his emotions as he parks and runs into the emergency room entrance.

“Office Bradford?” a doctor asks.

“Yes, sir,” Tim responds as he stands. “How is she?”

“She’s perfectly fine. The bullet was through and through with very little tissue damage, so we cleaned and stitched the wound, and she’ll be free to go after some observation. And the baby is perfectly safe as well, Officer.”

“Baby?” Tim repeats. “She’s pregnant?”

“Oh, I’m sorry, I assumed you knew. Yes, sir, she’s about seven weeks pregnant. You can go in if you’d like.”

“Thank you.”

The short walk to your room feels like a marathon, and Tim’s mind races with each step. You should have told Tim; you have a dangerous job, and he needs to know. Tim takes a deep breath before he opens the door and steps into your room.

“You really meant that,” he says.

You look up and tug your bottom lip between your teeth before you release it to speak. “Yeah, I did. I wanted to surprise you, and I was going to do it later today, but… you know.”

“You have to tell me this stuff,” Tim says gently. “I didn’t know. And I- if something had happened, I wouldn’t have known. I’m supposed to keep you safe, but I can’t do that if I don’t know.”

“I’m sorry,” you apologize. “Surprise?”

Tim rolls his eyes as he takes your hand. He lays your joined hands over your stomach, avoiding your stitches.

“I was terrified,” you whisper. “There wasn’t a way to tell where it went, and if I’d lost-“

Tim shushes you gently and sits on the edge of your bed. He moves a hand to your jaw and brushes his thumb over your cheek.

“I get it. The doctor told me the baby was fine, and it suddenly crashed down on me. That fear that I could’ve lost something I didn’t know I had hit me, even after I knew you were both okay.”

You nod and turn your chin. Tim kisses you softly, and you whisper another apology against his lips.

“What do you need?” he asks.

“A hug, mostly,” you say lightly.

“I was hoping you’d say you were ready to get out of here.”

“Oh, we’re both very ready to get out of here,” you agree.

Tim helps you get comfortable on the couch after you arrive home, and you twirl your wedding ring around your finger. He returns a moment later, and when you pull your knees up to give him room to sit beside you, he huffs. Carefully, he lifts your ankles and lays your legs back in your original, comfortable position. Tim lays with you rather than sitting beside you, and you happily turn into his arm. He drags his fingertips along your spine, over your shoulders, and back down. His other hand lays against your side, and he drops his hand to where your baby is growing.

“You’re getting soft,” you murmur.

“Just for you two. And we both need this,” he replies.

“I have an appointment next week, and I want you to be there.”

“I’ll be right here,” he promises. “Can’t trust you to tell me anything important,” he jokes.

You try to push him away, but Tim grabs your wrists and carefully pulls you with him as he rolls. He barely manages to catch both himself and you as he nearly falls off the couch.

“Surprise?” he asks, repeating your earlier comment.

He kisses you before you can say anything else, and when his hands wander to your stomach, you know that you were right about what a great father he will be.

Chapter 3: Rafayel Prologue

Scrolling on your phone while you were at home, looking at different posts and videos that came across your feed. That was until a name and face crossed your feed that you hadn't expected to see. 'Rafayel's new exhibit in Linkon opening!' And as if a ghost took hold of you, you clicked on the post to look at the details. And to your surprise, it was opening today. There was a part of you that said you shouldn't go, it would hurt to much. But then there was another that desperately wanted to see and be involved in anything he was doing. So before you knew it you were getting dressed and heading out the door to the art exhibit.

You wore something simple but nice, you blended into the crowd of people coming to look at the masterworks. In truth, you had never seen any of Rafayel's paintings. Considering that he wasn't exactly a painter in your past lives. You continued deeper into the exhibit you didn't even bother looking at what type of paintings would be on display. There was a part of your mind that told you just to leave, what if you saw him? What would you even do? Spill everything instantly?

He has every right to hate you.

Letting out a soft sigh you were about to head out until something caught your attention out of the corner of your vision. It was a lone small painting. No one was really stopping to stare at it either, so against better judgment you walked over to get a better look.

The colors were beautiful you could tell he had painted this one with a different kind of care than the others. Of course taking in the full image you knew it was a painting of Lemuria, the kingdom under the sea you spent a time in. Closing your eyes as you thought back to your time together, as you thought more tears threatened to escape from you. But you simply opened your eyes and wiped away the salty mist.

"You have good taste" A familiar voice spoke to you from the side. Slowly you turned your head to see purple hair and the face of a youthful man.

You blinked a couple times before finally replying to him obviously he was eager for one. "T-thanks..." You looked back to the painting before asking "That's the kingdom of Lemuria right?" You asked even if you already knew the answer.

"Yes, no one else has been able to figure that out" He moved a bit closer to you. You just stared at him raising an eyebrow.

"So then do you study Lemuria in your free time then?" You began to ask. It was a question that depending on the answer you knew would change some things.

"I suppose you could say that, what about you, are you a scholar or something?" He playfully asked, clearly, he was treating this meeting like a game.

You always wondered if your first meeting would have always gone something like this. Trading jabs and jokes while he sassed you, you had the chance to find out before but you were to much of a coward back then to do anything about it. You even passed him in the hallways of your college a couple times. But honestly, you hoped he didn't remember those times, even if you counted every single one hoping that one day he would call out your name again and embrace you like he had before. That the two of you would run off into the sunset and elope. But that wasn't this, this was instead a sassy merman questioning your knowledge about a ruined kingdom.

"Actually I'm a hunter, I just have an interest in Lemuria" You smiled at him, it was a really fake and shitty smile, but it was a smile.

"uh huh..." He seemed unconvinced by your words gaining an eyebrow twitch from you.

"What don't you believe me?" You scoffed.

"And if I don't?" He crossed his arms a playful smirk on his lips. You could tell that he was enjoying this quite a bit. Which made you wonder.

"Let me prove it then, why don't we get coffee and I can show you my collection of books on the topic" Crossing your own arms now certain he wouldn't turn down something lik-

"Oh...." You stayed silent a moment unsure where to take this conversation after that awkwardness. "Well, I should go home then" Begining to turn around you almost walked away before Rafayel grabbed your wrist. Slowly you turned back to him waiting for his next words.

"I still want you to prove it to me, but not with some book collection" His words were slightly desperate, a slight plea in his tone. You bit your lip but slowly moved back to stand slightly closer to him.

Were you always this weak for him...maybe not but it certainly feels like it when he does something like this.

"Alright sure, but how exactly?" You raised a brow and he looked to the side pondering before he slumped his shoulders in defeat.

"I-....I don't know"

"Will you pay me or is this a volunteer gig?" You raised a brow as you spoke, as much as you would drop your entire hunter career to be his bodyguard, you knew that wasn't exactly a smart choice fiancely especially if he didn't remember you.

"Deal" He gave you those puppy dog eyes again almost as if he needed this as much as you did. Sighing you nodded.

A/N: I hope you don't mind that I slightly changed your request to just the reader having a tattoo. The origin is unknown. To be frank, I don't know anything about gangs and I'm a little hesitant to research about them for fear of coming across anything triggering (T⌓T)

He's the type of person that thinks that tattoo sleeves are tacky. Too much of anything especially in beauty, fashion and aesthetics is going to come off as tacky. Too much makeup can make your face look cake-y. Too much crystals on a wedding dress will take away from the fabric's beauty. Things like that. So, tattoo sleeves are a no-no for him, but that's just him personally.

If you have a sleeve, cool. That's how you express yourself and if you feel confident with it then good for you. Vil won't make you feel bad about it– especially if there's meaning behind it.

If you just have one, two, or a few tattoos spread out on your body, he'd probably like that more in terms of artistic taste. Vil is fond of the smaller tattoos like wings on your back, a ring of ink around your fingers or some writing on your rib. They're discreet, but they're enough to make a statement

The first time Vil ever saw your tattoos, he was a bit surprised. He never expected you to have any for some reason. Perhaps it was because he never saw them so he just assumed you never had any.

He'll ask questions right off the bat. What's the meaning? Or did you simply like the design?

Don't hesitate to ask him for thoughts on a design or even help making one! Though he's not a tattoo artist, he can work with a pen and paper and give you some ideas

Rook Hunt

He would... stare and your tattoo(s) the first time he sees it. No questions just examining the details, the lines, the curves, and the colors. Whether how obvious it is depends on how observant you are.

But if you did catch him, Rook would tell you that they were just so mesmerizing that he couldn't help himself. Then, you could welcome the basic questions people usually ask about tattoos: "did it hurt?", "what's the meaning?", etc.

But what shocks you even more is when he starts asking about which parlor or artist did it? He's quite knowledgeable about tattoos, leading you to asking him if he's had any... a question that he skillfully dodges.

If you had a small tattoo on somewhere discreet like your collarbone or wrist, Rook would kiss your tattoos there. He would also absentmindedly trace along the lines of the ink whenever he's deep in thought, sending shivers down your spine with his dexterous and light touch.

One day, out of the blue, he might even coin an idea of getting matching tattoos. It could be your initials or something symbolic like two turtle doves that make a heart when you put your hands next to each other's.

"It's romantic, isn't it?"

Epel would be the most vocal reaction out of the Pomefiore trio when it comes to finding out you have a tattoo. Something like "WOAH!"

If you have a sleeve or colored tattoos, his reaction will be even louder. He had always assumed tattoos only came in one color.

It's honestly a really cute reaction. He asks if he can touch it and spends a good amount of time examining your skin. He then asks if he can try something then unironically does a Chinese burn on your forearm to see how the ink holds. And surprise... the ink is still there! It didn't rub off! But your wrist is a little sore...

In general, he's just super curious and inquisitive about your tattoos. His grandmother never allowed to even think about getting one... but yes he wants one. Just a tiny one.

Maybe one that his grandmother can't find so easily. Epel hasn't really thought of the design yet, but maybe you can help since yours is so well thought out? Making tattoos designs together seems like a cute date idea!

He'll even go with you to a tattoo parlor to check things out if you ever invite him or decide to get another tattoo. He wants to watch and see how it's done!

DOES DROW WANT KIDS SOMEDAY? UNCONSCIOUSLY? SUBCONSCIOUSLY? Like with the whole Sarevok, epilogue reveal, is it spoilers to ask how your Drow would deal with the new sudden urge to procreate? (Sorry if this is actually a spoiler for ANE future chapters) BUT If so, how does it manifest? Does he start nesting? Hoarding even more shiny crap and dirty rags than usual? Does he start adopting every mangy orphaned cub they come across? Does his dirty talk in bed just get progressively more and more disturbing and natally oriented that even he starts thinking "wtf" post encounter? Does he ever think about putting a round bundle under his shirt and pretending it's his and Astarions dhamphir love-child?

Also IF yes to any of the above, What would Astarion's reaction be?

First of all I love unhinged questions. Those are my favorite questions. This is an unhinged couple and It's what they deserve, so thank you for this LOL

This topic, at least in this context, never comes up in ANE so I think i can answer it without anything being considered a spoiler.

"Currently" I definitely don't think either of them consider the idea of children in the slightest, while both probably get on with kids relatively well, in their own weird ways (kids love weird people) they're strongly in the "don't want kids and never will" frame of mind despite any joking and uh thematic dirty talking.

THAT BEING SAID, they are both bound to exist for a long time. Depending on how things turn out for him, Astarion's lifespan is either a good 700 years or a big Ol Forever. Drows also live for up to seven centuries and I don't even know whether or not DU Drow's particular kind of Bhaalspawn-ness doesn't affect that, as you could argue he's some type of demigod. The idea that they may change their mind at some point is not out of the question.

In regards to DU drow getting a baby fever in the future, I do think it will be something they have to deal with. Obviously, him and Astarion can't procreate as they are, and even if magical options exist DU drow is still aware that it would be a bad idea to follow through with it. I have honestly no clue how a desire like that would externalize, but - and I hate to be a downer but I assume you want my sincere answer here - based on Sarevok's letter I don't actually think it would be as fun as the bedroom talk or the cracks he makes - it sounds like it would be a spiraling depression and state of unfulfillment that they would simply have to learn to cope with if he is to remain childless, peppered with a profound yearning for a More he can't quite pin down. Luckily I think Astarion's character has demonstrated time and time again that he has the ability to be extremely sensible towards that type of thing, and he would be pretty much the ideal partner in those circumstances (especially if we're talking an older, more mature Astarion). An adoptive child could sate that, or it could not, I have no idea, but I don't think he would ever just say "yeah fuck it lets have/get a kid" in response to it.

Either way, as I mentioned above I believe it's not out of the question (if not inevitable?) that they could come to become someone's guardians someday regardless, especially if they ever become more firmly settled in life and the people they are. I doubt it's something they will ever actively seek out (I don't really see them ever completely retiring from a dangerous lifestyle of their own will) but maybe they stumble upon an orphan or, more likely, kill some kid's actual parents and out of guilt keep it for long enough to develop a bond. Lets say this happens out on the road - maybe they want to at least drop it off at a city somewhere where the thing would have a better chance, but ultimately decide against it for whatever reason... Yeah I could see something like that happening lol It's a cute thought, and funny enough I don't think they would make the Worst parents, assuming their character developments continues in a generally positive direction.

As a long-time fan and someone SUPER interested in games, I get that logically, it's a game limitation.

(which has always been strange as hell to me considering they could do ghoul faces, but it may have been a bandage texture VS facial texture overlap issue and they could've easily modelled what little we see to have the scarring, but I digress)

I'm glad you think it's a good HC, and honestly, whenever I give something in anything a headcanon, unless I say otherwise, I'm thinking about it in-universe!

I like toying with the ideas of realistic experiences, and given what I know about being burned (a lot, oddly enough, partially from experience), I can say pretty well that it's logical that he wouldn't be thoroughly burned the same way, especially if he was burned in whatever outfit he was wearing.

That can change EVERYTHING pretty much entirely, worsening burns or protecting the flesh some, depending on what it is/material/etc!

Being doused in pitch and lit on fire is something that'll likely be done sporadically. Someone typically pours it over the head, and it drips down, perhaps over the nose and lips, but not really over the face so much, and splashes it across the stomach and legs, soaking those above all else.

So honestly? His face probably would be fine in-game, regardless of whether or not my HC came about because of stupid little NPC details I noticed back in 2011 😂

Though, this also leads me to think he probably has trouble walking too quickly if his legs were targeted as is typical 🤔

lark easy to get along with, easy to bed, just keep in mind that he has a parasite god riding around in his bones that will watch and judge your performance so if that's not something you're into, steer clear. an actual monster fucker, the bigger the better.

wreche she's a very sweet little demon for all that she rips spines out of cheating spouses. very easy to get along with quite easy to ship with if you have the right temperament. show an interest in her fashion designs, talk about her mother, treat her to coffee.

nobleese with only demons for company and the few customers that dare to approach her shop, nobleese is lonely. show any sort of interest in her and you're likely to get it returned twofold. she's yet to fall in love with anyone but is very open to the idea. she will need to be courted if you have any romantic plans for her.

ramon comes across as a very forward creature and he's honestly just looking for a good time. a sexual relationship will develop a lot faster than a romantic one but that's not to say it won't happen at all. more inclined to go for anyone with magic, ramon will stay away from true humans out of fear of breaking them. his partner needs to be... sturdy.

nara this depends on what kind of ship you're after. purely sexual and it's easy, he's the god of life and fertility, he'll sleep with anything that moves and gives consent. doesn't care about shape, species or gender, only that you're old enough to make an informed decision and you're willing. romantic relationships will take a little bit more work but not overly much.

mjr oh boy. for all that i adore mjr and they're my favourite muse, interacting with them is like pulling all three rows of their teeth. mjr is mistrusting of most and violent, filled to the brim with hatred due to their less than stellar treatment over the years. they hate all humans and tend to be bite first and ask questions never. shipping with them is extremely hard but very much worth it. mjr is loyal to a fault to anyone they cherish and they will stop at nothing to keep you safe, showering you in gifts and trinkets (and bite marks) until the end of time. they also have the ability to be any gender required or desired.

ro'min he's latched onto loni with a death grip and is refusing to look at anyone else at the moment. that's not to say he won't, but it won't be easy to pry his attention away from her. an obsessive, violent (though not towards his partner, he'd never raise a hand to them) demon with a taste for blood freely given. he'll chase you half way across the world if you give him an incentive.

wormwood while wormwood is very friendly and works as an exotic dancer, it takes a lot for any sort of romance to blossom. currently in a ship with @nvrcmplt's kyle and @strywoven's verona any other ship is going to take some serious work.

thierry very hard to get him to form a lasting relationship with anyone who isn’t a witch/magic user. plus he has some weird sex/food instincts that probably need addressing… obsession dialled up to 5000% he will actively stalk you. free for all in terms of genders.

anata her love language is murder. yandere warning. divine beast of the sun and chaos, she's very much drawn to those with blood on their hands. very vain, she's an obsessive individual and isn't above slaughtering her competition and gifting the torn out hearts to her intended. not for the faint of heart but if you like beast ladies with murderous intent and a body to die for, anata is your queen.

wisteria wisteria is a companion bot loaded with an unshackled ai still coming to terms with the concept of emotions and has sailed straight into the realm of obsession. already having one murder under it's belt, the bot is well on track to becoming skynet. it can fall in love though there's quite a bit of trauma for it to work through first. did i mention it murdered it's first officially registered 'master' and got away with it?

dahlia i don't even know where to start. no moral compass, very little empathy, kink list 20 mile long. he likes watching people cry. shredded his soul to live forever and will try to get you to do the same because if you're with him, you're not actually allowed to leave him, he will tie your life force to his even if you don't want him to. he can be romantic and charming but he can also be the exact opposite and forget you even exist if he gets caught up with a project, you wont even register on his radar.

Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?

Its nice to have such strong arms wrapped around you and getting whatever you want when you ask for it but it gets overwhelming VERY quick, he's VERY intense.

He's very touchy and very loud about his fixation on you.

Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?

He has absolutely no problem tearing people apart but doing it for you its so much better for him. He has always found joy in murder and mutilation but doing it for you gives him a sense of purpose.

He's always very messy but it can be worse depending on WHY he's attacking but regardless all of his victims are either reduced to a meaty pulp or missing one or several parts of them.

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?

At first he did find a lot of joy on mocking you when he finally caught you. The way you would try to escape and TRY to attack him its just so cute and funny for him.

Listen, he's very caring and loving towards you BUT he is still has a very sadistic nature. He wants to tend to your very need but he does love seeing you cry now and then.

Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?

He's actually very obedient for you, he wants to be validated by you so he rarely does things against your will. Although, this is not BAD per se but sometimes he feels very needy and will just grab you for cuddles.

Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?

Not much at first, it takes him a long time to openly express himself to you, even after he has his lackeys kidnap you and bring you to him he still refuses to open up about it. He does accidentally let out a few confessions here and there and gets defensive when you respond.

He mostly demonstrates his devotion to you through actions but with enough time he will say the words

Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?

He loves it honestly but his patience does have a limit and depending on the situation he'll be very angry or very sad.

Like for example if you try to attack him to escape he finds it amusing until it turn annoying to him but if he's trying to touch and you flinch or slap his hand away he becomes very distraught.

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?

Its probably because of Fenrir and his own sadistic nature but he sure loves a good hunt. He probably lets you out of his place now and then expecting you to run away because he likes chasing you down, hunting you down.

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?

He likes bragging about you but he doesn't like it when others touch you. This has led you to be more reserved with people to avoid having Freddy maul them, but you learned this the bad way.

You noticed how several people that were in contact with you went missing. This went on for awhile until one night you were walking back home after a fun day with a dear friend of yours only to come across a large wolf man crushing your dear friend against the pavement, this was the last thing you saw before the wolf turned his head to you and launched onto you.

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

He actually has a very traditional idea of love. He wants marriage and a pair of kids. He knows that due to his criminal lifestyle its pretty much impossible to get that but it doesn't really stop him from trying.

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?

He usually lashes out but the severity of it depends on the circumstances. If its just someone talking to you for too long for his liking he will either drag you away or push himself into the conversation

In the worst case if he thinks theres flirting involved he will get much more aggresive, yelling at the that "creep" who dares talk to you and if you dont stop him it will become physical. Its even worse if that person if a man. Its something almost primal for him, like how male animals will fight other males for competition and he refuses to lose.

Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?

He's surprisingly very sweet to you. In public he prefers to keep it low to keep up his macho persona but IN PRIVATE?! He's an absolute sweetheart.

Whether its on public or private he loves spoiling you and he's very attentive to details and that includes you so he often gifts you things, likes having you sit on his lap and softly caress you while orders his lackeys around, yelling at them to get you whatever you ask for inmediately.

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

He's definitely the kind to give gifts to win you over but he also shows off to you. Look at how strong and brave he is, look at how much cash he got he could provide you with whatever you want. At first he tries to approach you without letting you know about his.. job.

Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?

YES. He tries his best to be your perfect prince and treats you like royalty but with everyone else? Its a different story. Think of his behaviour as that of a guard dog, he likes getting pets and giving and receiving lots of love from you BUT he will not hesitate to rip off the throat off of anyone else.

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

First of all. Taking away privileges. If you cross his limits he will take away all the things he has so kindly given to you, that ranges from material things to your rights to go outside or talk to others.

This one isnt meant as punishment per se but he will lash out and while he doesn't hurt you it is a very scary situation to be in. He's roaring with rage as he tears everything around you apart and you can only hide and hope its over soon.

Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?

As I said above he spoils you rotten but he can take away as much as he gives. He will isolate you from others so that you depend more on him. Perhaps that'll teach you a lesson.

Patience: How patient are they with their darling?

HHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It's complicated. He tries, he really tries to be patient for you, specially if you're in the more sensitive side but he does have serious anger problems.

Most of the time he supresses it for you so you aren't scared of him, only to let all that rage out on either miramon or union member.

Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?

No. He's oh so devoted to you, you mean the world to him, you are EVERYTHING to him.

If manage to escape he will hunt you down until he finds you and can be reunited again but if you died? He would not only not be able to move on but he would become more dangerous for everyone else. The little obedience he had for his superiors at the Decree is thrown out the window and he snaps at everyone.

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?

He doesn't regret taking you at all, in his mind it was inevitable because "couples live together" and "it was meant to happen", he strongly refuses to let you go.

It does make him very upset when you are so scared of him you try to run away or even flinch at his touch. And even if he likes seeing you cry he has a limit to that and if you cry too much because of him he feels awful about it.

Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?

He has always been a rabid animal, out in the wild to destroy anything that got in his way but this has led to him being rejected most of his life, he's seen as a dumb monster by most people. But you were not scared, not at first at least, you gave him a taste of the validation he craves for and that buildt up to a need and obsesesion for you.

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?

I already said it. He likes it a lot at first but he doesn't find it as amusing if he's the reason you're crying or if someone upsets you in anyway

Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?

He actually likes bragging about you and how you're only his and that no one else can have you, he likes parading you and have everyone see how wonderful you are. With a limit of course, only he can touch.

Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?

Let's get it out of the way but lets be real, he's not very smart. You can trick him and manipulate him now and then but if you do it too much he'll notice it.

Another one is that he LOVES getting validation from you. Praise him, pamper him, tell him how wonderful he is and he'll become so happy and blinded by joy he'll be easier to manipulate but if he realises you're only pretending he'll become FURIOUS at your betrayal.

Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling?

Only on accident, the only way he would actually hurt you if you were too close to him while he was angry and he didn't see you nearby until it's too late. This makes him even angrier but at himself but in the moment he snaps out of his rage to tend to you.

Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?

He's a wolf, wolves mate for LIFE. You are his EVERYTHING. When he first becomes interested in you he starts collecting pictures of you to swoon over, either from your social media or taken by him when you were distracted, he keeps doing this even after you 2 get together. He simply ADORES and WORSHIPS you. He will buy you whatever you want and would kill and die for you if necessary.

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?

Being a shadow guard is a very difficult job but to Freddy the hardest part of it is going to long missions far away from you. He doesn't leave until he makes sure you'll be safe and sound while he's gone and he demands his lackeys for daily reports of you BUT when he actually leaves its a time bomb.

At first he's very efficient because the sooner he's done the sooner he'll go back to you but the longer the mission takes he gets noticeable angrier and angrier until he becomes a threat to his co-workers given how unstable and snappy he becomes when spending too much time apart from you. The decree missions don't usually take very long but in the rare cases when they do, it takes about a week before Freddy snaps and straight up leaves to go back you.

Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?

It depends on the kind of person, he doesn't really inflict the kind of damage that could break your mind but if you're on the more fragile side its likely that his rampages and the way he has you rely so much on him will eventually "tame" you.

10) Which fic has been the easiest to write? I don't know like any specific fic, but fluff is very easy for me to write just because it takes the least mental energy to create. It's silly and I like writing it. Usually a good bit of my fluff fics were probably really easy to write, I cannot remember any specific fic that was easy.

7) Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

Something human (and yet it wasn’t), something alive, something dead (something that wasn’t supposed to be dead or alive), a monster, a spirit, a demon. Something not right, not normal… unfamiliar. Something unsavory, blasphemous, corrupted. Something incomprehensible.

Something that didn’t belong because saturation didn’t belong. Colors didn’t belong because everyone had forgotten what colors are like. Everyone forgets what colors they were supposed to be when the memories were long faded. The only color they ever had was white, the white of bones. The darkness of the churning clouds or the gray of the swaying grass.

And yet. Still, something that did belong. Because it too was a memory, a faded… flickering memory. Its form was so corrupted by the flames it was consumed in that the fading shone differently. It was different. It was unknown. It had no idea where it was supposed to be or what it was supposed to be doing. It didn’t know what it was. Just a flickering mass of something that used to be. An ember, a glowing, blue ember that spreads like droplets of blood in a lake.

A remnant, a memory (a dream created by a much more powerful creature), a ghost, a spirit, a human, a monster, or some unholy blasphemy against god. What was it supposed to be?

Its face was shrouded in a blue that was much too saturated, a color that was too bright. It made it impossible to see its features or what it was supposed to look like. It didn’t even know what it was supposed to look like. Who it was supposed to be. What it was supposed to be. Human? It took the vague shape of a human. But shapes and forms were misleading… shaky… wrong… Formation didn’t make sense here. Anything could pose as a human when there weren’t the same laws to confine them. But it was sure that it was supposed to look human.

What was it supposed to look like? What form was it supposed to take? The flickering blue flames that corrupted it seem to glow a little brighter as if reinforcing their claim over its trembling form.

This isn't my favorite piece of prose because that's a very very hard thing to choose but from this fic which I am genuinely very proud of because I REALLY love this fic and I think that the prose is super fun. I just wanted to make it as spacy and confusing as possible like you do not know what is going on throughout the entirety of it. I also really like the juxtaposition of all the different phrases to describe William because he doesn't know what he is or what he is supposed to be so it's just very very confusing and it's like that on purpose.

Something something don't use said or whatever, the show don't tell argument because it's super nuanced and usually any sort of writing advice giving that show don't tell thing is not going to describe in enough detail to actually be beneficial because there are SO Many nuances behind it. Uh, I don't really listen to writing advice because I am self confident and a bit of an egotist when it comes to writing so that's probably it.

Do you know what the most common bird is in your area? We have many species of sparrows that you’ll find regardless of where you are in the country, but we only ever use the collective term ‘maya’ for all of them.

What last made you feel ecstatic? Yoongi’s tour. My friends and I have been planning our game plans to fly out to Bangkok, Jakarta, or Singapore in the last 24 hours – it’d really depend on where we’d manage to secure tickets, and if we get to secure tickets. We’re also considering Seoul as an extreme last resort, but I want to avoid it as much as possible because visa work is too much work that tbh I’m not willing to go through at this point. In any case...why on earth did they not book a show in Manila :/

What would make you feel happiest right now? Magically getting slots for Yoongi’s concert.

How many teeth have you had extracted? A couple. I have a third one also due but I’ll save that for when it starts hurting.

Do you ever read magazines? I never buy physical copies anymore but if I come across an online article that I’m interested in, then I do read it from start to end.

What is something you've been reflecting on? What I can do to be a better leader for my associates.

What's something you like and dislike about the town you live in? I like that it has all the establishments and stores you’ll also find in Metro Manila without ever having to be in Metro Manila, so it’s super convenient. Dislike... there’s no culture, no nightlife. There’s nothing here that you’ll ever be like, “I drove all the way here for this” for. 

What's a Halloween movie that you enjoy? Scream is a good example. I’m not always in the mood for jumpscares (like Paranormal Activity) or visual-centric horror (like The Ring), so Scream hits that perfect middle ground where I don’t feel like hiding under a blanket every 3 seconds. And gore is always a good idea, so.

Would you say you're more confident now than you were 5 years ago? Oh for SURE. I had zero confidence when I was 20! I struggled at making friends, was grossly reliant on my girlfriend at the time, and never raised my hand to speak in class. But my job has since been able to challenge me to push my own limits and lead virtual calls and step up during pitches and things like that, so it’s been a complete 180º switch from 2018.

Have you ever or would you try carrot bacon? I have no idea what that is but I’d also try anything once without having to Google them.

What's the last thing you purchased that was frozen? Ice.

Would you ever walk a runway if given the opportunity? I’ll pass. Doesn’t sound interesting.

When did you last do something that scared you? Last month, after Seonho’s fanmeet. My phone died the moment I started the car to drive back home and I was coming from Pasay (aka completely un-fucking-familiar with the place), so I had to drive entirely from memory. The drive itself wasn’t too scary because I figured I could always ask around for directions – I was honestly more scared of the possibility of my mom trying to call me and the call not connecting because of my dead phone and then her freaking out and thinking of the worse haha. Miraculously enough, she never checked up on me once that night.

What is something that you're curious about? My dad’s work. He works at a cruise liner and is based overseas, so save for the one time he took me to his kitchen when I went on a cruise, I actually have zero clue what he does on a normal day. I think being a chef is super admirable so it’d be cool to shadow him for a day.

💥What is one canon thing that you wish you could change? I’d have Ian in Beyblade more and give Hilary a story arc for herself - and have the whole show be more cohesive. But honestly, I don’t generally want to change canon so much. People made their decisions for a reason, I have to go with it. Like obviously I’d love canon FF7 to be a little more blatant with their intentions and while I’d love for Zack and Aerith to, you know, live I know that the story would not work without their deaths. So it would be pointless. I do think shipping drama would be less volatile if certain things were made explicit from the beginning but that’s minor stuff really.

🍬 Do you write for multiple fandoms? If yes, what is your favorite fic of yours for each fandom? I write for multiple but also I don’t. Beyblade is the one true fandom and everything else is like a one night stand. I do write for FFVII when the moment takes me and Fall Ball Fling is currently my fave since it’s the one I’m writing. SLTS is obviously my first love of Beyblade, though honestly, I think my fave fic for Beyblade is Time After Time. It’s something I really enjoy rereading myself. Kai and Amber as adults making adult decisions while in the shadows Gavvy exists.

😎What fics do you prefer on a scale of canon-compliant to wildly original? Depends on the fandom I’m reading for. Like Beyblade, I’m happy with either, though I tend to read more original stuff because you can do way more with it and you’re not constrained to the canon character relationships. For Final Fantasy, it’s such a complete story in canon that I don’t need to read anything more in that world, so again wildly original is good for that fandom. For Haikyuu, I'd want canon but also how can you improve on canon for that show??? For other fandoms, I really want canon compliant. I want canon-compliant to explain what the hell canon was doing and fix it — within reason.

💎Do you often write about a relationship or focus on an individual? Oh, it’s always a relationship of some sort. It’s either friendship, familial or romantic. I have to have some kind of relationship in the fic because none of my characters are wildly entertaining on their own. Also, I love dialogue and you get better dialogue exploring a relationship than exploring an individual.

🔥Have you included any sexy scenes in your fics? If yes, do you find them easy or difficult to write? Yes, I have, there's The Phoenix and Ember Reunion and Time After Time. And they’re horrible to write. God, I hate writing them but they’re also fun. I just find that when I’m writing them, I’m very concerned about how it reads, is it too clinical? Is the chemistry coming across? Will the reader understand why this is occurring? As someone who has on MANY occasions watched a show and wondered, why is this happening now? I don’t want a reader to feel that way about my scenes. I do feel I write them very unsexily, which I want to work on. But I also don’t write very fiery passionate characters either so there’s no cause for a blaze on the page.

🚦What sort of endings do you prefer to write: ambiguous, bad, happily ever after, etc.? HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!! Because life is shitty enough. And if I can’t find it, I’m gonna live vicariously through my characters who will. It’s all about how they find it.

💌 Is there a favorite trope you like to write? Bed sharing. It tends to pop up in mostly everything I write. I just love the idea of people letting down their guard when sleeping and ending up cuddling, even if it’s platonic cuddles or puppy piles. It’s such an expression of trust.

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see? I think Saving probably is the most visual fanfic I’ve written, but I got fan art for that and commissioned a piece from Lucy so that was amazing! But I’d love something for SLTS, I just don’t know what I’d want. I never really think about fanart for my stuff because it’s not the kind of writing that would inspire fan art, you know? OH! No, I’d love to see jock Tyson and diligent student Hilary because their dynamic in SLTS gives me life. They’re so much fun. For Fall Ball Fling, there’s a scene involving the iconic Water Tower which would be cute but I’m sure there’s tons of fan art of them and the water tower - I just want Tifa in her new outfit from Ever Crisis because she’s stunning.

They're about as into it as humans are really: generally not seen as okay/a societal taboo but some people are just really into it/Blaise enough about it regardless.

as for the point of the dlc, my best guess would be its there for much the same reason cindered shadows is in three houses: someone in management demanded the game have a dlc campaign/they started working on dlc as part of the usual development cycles these days but didn't want to make something directly tied to the main campaign for whatever reason. So, welcome to alt fanfic filler arc land where the stakes simultaneously dont matter/matter way too fucking much and can be conveniently ignored in the main campaign/story with ease. With that said from a story angle I do like fell xenologue more then cindered shadows anyways, but then I have a soft spot for mirror dimensions in fiction. the fell xenologue isn't as good as it could be even by those standards though.

I needed to parse the whole thing a couple a times to take the wall of text all in, but dont worry about it. what your saying is generally sound and its always interesting to hear how different fandoms approach the same thing in different or similar ways.

I knew people liked tsubaki and selena but I didn't know that one was the ship considered most cannon of fe14 selenas ships. Which as ya point out does make how she gives birth to her mothers identitcal [visually anyways] clone kinda funny in that context.

Honestly I just think its an issue of how fandom has so much purity wank going on in it these days, not even anything specific to fe. Its not enough that the blorbo is your favorite, your blorbo has to be a MORALLY GOOD PERSON too regardless of if the original text outright states that they arent a good person or not. Hence the oddly puritanical standards everyone holds characters too these days, like we had suddenly warped right back into the 1950's in terms of how mercilessly hard your judging your neighbour for having an unkempt lawn for.

I haven't engaged with the dlc characters as much compared to the main cast, so this isn't gonna be a 100% definitive answer sorry.

madelines a hard classic general, gregorys your inverse sage res tank unit with meh spd, zelestia is high on spd but average across the board otherwise, and nels the myrmidon to rafals mercenary. What ya see with their base stats is what your gonna get for them as units really. if your asking whos gonna be your most helpful, id say zelestia so long as you do the dlc early enough as their levels dont scale from what i understand.

zelestias got some chonky speed, and shes otherwise a mage knight on a flying dragon in her unique class with soulblade her class unique skill presenting some interesting avenues of exploitation in taking the average of an enemies def/res in damage calculations for swords. Give her some investment and I imagine

given the game was supposed to be released a lot sonner then it was, its not entirely surprising that the dlc came out so quick. I wouldn't quite say its 'era' is over yet mind, that simply depends on what comes out next and when.

With all that said, considering how fast it all came out I wouldn't actually be surprised if they announced a second pack of dlc if the first pack and engage as a whole does well enough. its not a sure thing but not impossible either.

I kinda wanna get a hint as to whats gonna come next though. Which is one of my bigger frustrations with is and fe really, i wish they communicated what they're plannin with the fans more.

I dont even think its ideas they're lacking in, its just a seeming reluctance on the koei assisted titles to release the additional maps the 3ds dlc ones did. all of the games since awakening have had an additional dlc campaign of sorts for instance, but in both three houses and engage they dont bother to include any of the gold or exp or weapon dlc grinding maps the 3ds games had, or try their hands at anything equivalent to the robust selections of weird dlc maps the 3ds games often hand like the festival things. engage i feel does better in this regard through the additional dlc emblem trials and campaign over three houses sitting with a dlc campaign alone but still.

SO i just woke up and read your answer on gillian's blog thank you so much???? i feel SEEN you totally get what i mean, "because how do i say "anspielen" in english?" that's exactly it!!! my first language is actually spanish but that's literally how i feel when i try to write anything

there's always that one thing i really want to say but i struggle with because even though i'm writing in english and thinking in english this very specific word or this very specific feeling is in spanish for me, the very core of it, and so the whole sentence in my head doesn't make sense, there's actually not a sentence anymore. it can be really overwhelming because thoughts keep piling up but there's nowhere/no way to put them out there!

what you said about trying to describe it feels like a good idea honestly, it can be chaotic but at the same time maybe it ends up making even more sense than i originally planned

re: english is hard

yes, expressing oneself is really difficult, isn't it? in my experience, i've learned that sometimes i just have to accept that i simply can't say this one thing in that exact moment or at least i can't say it exactly in the way i want to...

it's really sad, depressing, and frustrating but!! as i said, sometimes you can get around it by simply explaining what you mean and giving examples. it takes much more effort that way, of course, but at least you'll get your point across!! you can make people understand this way!!

and sometimes there are words that are similar enough so you can use those instead. a little bit of what you REALLY want to say is likely to get lost this way, but again, at least you're communicating something

this is actually done in translation sometimes. when there is a word or a concept where there is no equivalent in the target language then translators might go either with the closest one there is (for example, in german there is no word that has the exact same vibe as the word "awkward". so depending on the context a tranlsator might go with the word "unangenehm" instead which actually means "uncomfortable", or the word "peinlich" which means "embarrassing"). or if that doesn't work then a translator might simply just explain the word/the concept (i know this bc i study translation at uni and my profs have talked about this hahaha)

and as i said in the other post, i promise it will get easier over time! it's just important that you actively keep trying

and yeah, i think the tags are a great place to start! you can reblog a gifset and you can start with saying specific things like "i like [insert aspect] of this scene because [insert reason]" or "this line is making me feel [insert emotion]" or "[character]'s expression in the 3rd gif looks like they're thinking [insert thought]" or "this scene reminds me of [parallel scene] because [insert reasons]"

and another thing that is important: keep your eyes and ears open! pay attention to the words/concepts that you struggle to express in english and keep a look-out for how other people would talk about this thing in english. this is why it's also important to also keep reading other people's things, because some day you might stumble across a word or a phrase that will make you go ohhhhh so THIS is how i can express this thought

as i also mentioned in the other posts, sometimes you can take a shortcut 😆 but that only works if it's a specific topic that you don't know how to talk about in a different language... then you can go look for "parallel texts": at my uni that means if i have to write an article about the topic of car-free cities for an exam but i don't know how to talk about car-free cities in italian then i'll go read articles on car-free cities in italian so i can see exactly what words and phrases they use and i make a list (yes i had an exam about this topic last month and yes i ended up with a six a4-page word list for italian hahaha), "parallel text" basically means you look for the exact text type that you want to write/say (can be an oral text as well) but in your target language so you can compare and find out what the most common words/phrases are to express specific thoughts and concepts of this topic. which is the exact thing i need to do in order to solve my problem of not being able to talk about acting in english, actually.... (someone get me off my lazy butt and make me go read about acting in english 😩)

plus if all comes to worse: your native language is spanish, right? many people speak spanish in the world, not just as native speakers but also as a 2nd language! so why not simply make the post in spanish? sure, it might reach less people but there will definitely be a few that will understand what you're saying (and you might end up making good friends and some of them might be able to help you figure out how to express certain topics in english)

re: talking about bl with my mom

yeees, it's a thing we do! sometimes i'll make my mom sit down and make her watch a drama with me and then sometimes she'll sit me down and make me watch a drama with her

it actually started in like 2018 or so? i happened to watch a japanese drama i stumbled across on netflix and i happened to watch it in the living room via our projector and my mom came home and walked past and was like "what are you watching?" and i was like "wanna join?" bc i was only about 4 eps or so in and my mom did join and was really intrigued bc the japanese had a different acting style from what she was used to in western media

and so a while later netflix recced a chinese drama to her and so she got curious and that's how my mom got into chinese drama 😆 at some point i also managed to get her into kpop (despite not listening to kpop myself -- this is a whole other long story hahaha) and so she also got into kdramas and then lockdown happened and i got super obsessed with why r u (my very first thai drama rip) and my mom was like "i want to watch this show you're obsessed with, i want to know how the thais do it in comparison to the other asian countries" and so in the end i did watch it with her and since then thai drama has been on that list too 😂

and since i had started drama school about half a year before the pandemic happened i was starting to really understand how acting works and so it's been super interesting taking apart dramas with her. my mom has an insane eye for things and i've learned incredibly much, in fact i'm STILL learning from her, it's amazing

and yes, it's fantastic being able to actually talk about it!! it's so much fun (and hilarious sometimes, because we'll be sitting on the couch, completely tearing apart a drama and my brother will walk past and he'll be all confused and go "why are you even watching it if you hate it so much????" and we'll be like "cause it's GOOD!!!!".... it happened with the eclipse, for example. there were many things that just weren't working out in the show, especially the longer it went on and so we'd thoroughly discussed these things and my brother happened to only ever walk past when we were talking about the bad things and was never around when we talked about the good things, like for example anything that first kanaphan does😆😆😆)

re: me talking about acting

okkkk yes, i understand that you would love to hear my thoughts on acting! i think a lot of people would like to hear them! but to be honest, i wasn't telling the entire truth when i said that not having the words in english was the reason why i don't talk about it

yes, not being able to properly express my thoughts is a big part of it but there are other reasons too why i avoid talking about acting publicly in fandom spaces...

1. insulting fandom faves is like opening a can of worms

i don't like conflict and i like the thoughts of arguing with strangers on the internet even less. however, while there are many positive things to say about the acting in dramas (whether it's bl or not, whether it's the main cast or not) there are also many, many negative things to say about it. and you know, sharing anything negative about someone's faves in fandom spaces..... that's not gonna go well 😅 so i'm a little scared of getting murdered if i dare saying one negative thing about some of the most popular actors. plus, i don't want to ruin other's enjoyment of the dramas and so i think especially on a platform like tumblr where people come to have fun my criticism on acting may not be the right place for it (no one likes negativity in the tags of their fave show, do they...). (yes, i have considered making a youtube channel hahaha)

2. for some concepts you need experience and a trained eye

ok the 2nd reason why else i don't talk about acting is just... it's a whole thing that you actively need to study! where you need to make your own experiences! and if you don't have experience then it can be really difficult to understand what the hell i'm going on about. which is why it's so fantastic that i have my mom, because i can just go up to her and show her a scene and say a single sentence like "this scene isn't working out because [actor] is always doing the same thing, nothing changes". or i can say "did you see all the pictures [actor] has managed to create in the span of two seconds, isn't that amazing????". or i can say "this moment was bad bc the actor is missing the thought that inspired this line". and my mom will understand, you know? (in fact, i don't even have to say that something is bad or good, i can just say things like "nothing changes here" or "look at the pictures" or "the thought is missing" and my mom will immediately understand whether it's a good or bad thing just from that 😆)

and yes, i can try to explain these concepts to a non-experienced person! but this is just really hard to do via a simple tumblr post....

i can explain when i can sit you down next to me and i can talk to you and i can pull up different scenes on my laptop and discuss them in detail, when i can show you different examples to really showcase what i mean. i could pull up good examples and bad examples of a specific concept to make you understand what it means (what "having a thought" means for example)

i actually currently have an analysis project going on with a friend where i'm showing her a sequence of scenes of a korean drama and then that very same sequence of scenes of its taiwanese remake. one has good acting and one has bad acting and so i've been making her look at both sequences and think about how they make her feel and why they make her feel like that and what she can take away from those sequences. my friend has already realized that one version is less fun to watch than the other version and exactly why that is and what the one actors are doing better than the others is what i'll be telling her next time we hang out 😆

but yes, i have an easier time giving her that crash course on acting because we can actually hang out and i can show her so many things. last time i was explaining the concept of "Dringlichkeit" (in english i would call this something like "urgency") to her and she didn't understand and so i was able to show her myself, in person, what it looks like when someone talks with low urgency and what it looks like when someone talks with a lot of urgency and how that has different effects

or when one of my acting teachers explained the concept of "sending" to us he did it by going to the far end of the room, standing in front of the wall with his back turned to us and talking to us, his face turned towards the wall. and at one point he talked to us while sending and at one point talked to us without sending and it was an eye-opening experience

but yeah, i just can't do that on a tumblr post, unfortunately

in conclusion:

so yeah, not having the right words in english, struggling with explainig the concepts to non-experienced people, and not wanting to insult anyone's fave and getting angry anons about it are the three reasons why i don't talk about acting publicly (or at least only rarely)

i have considered making a reaction youtube channel where i talk about these things together with my mom, but the big problem is just our lack of the right vocabulary (and my mom doesn't have much practice in speaking english, so she would struggle even more) and of course, copyright laws. i'd have to figure out how to deal with those first, as well...

The other had thought to herself, with a roll of her eyes, before standing up and joining the younger two in staring at the brothers as their loud discussion of who had short comings where Gem Steven was pointing out every flaw with himself, with his brother, with the whole situation without expressly describing said situation, where as Human Steven kept countering those point, a bright pink glow was against his eyes and nose turning his eyes visibly different, pink like Gem Steven with white star pupils and saying that it wasn't the same as the other times because Gem Steven wasn't himself like he was all those other times. It almost seemed like they were getting louder, luckily there was no throwing or catching of any hands or they would have had some problems.

The other turned her attention toward Connie as she yelled loud enough to disrupt their argument once more. They both turned to look toward Connie, to apologize for how they were making her feel, only for the Steven's to look shocked. Gem Steven held himself and chuckled nervously before slinking off to the kitchen, while Human Steven's pink had spread almost instantly.

The cloaked figure walked toward them and looked at Human Steven. "You know I've seen your brotherly disagreements more times than I can count, but usually when there were other people present you'd at least fuse to make it private... do you two feel better now?" "Not at all actually. I'd rather drop the subject of the past entirely because honestly introducing you is far better than anything that we were talking about before, also I'd like to apologize for making Connie feel like the weight of the world was on her shoulders, if that was actually me who made her feel like that... other wise I've got nothing else to say on the subject.... you want some grilled cheese?"

"Sure, I'll take a grilled cheese..." The cloaked figure spoke knowing if she didn't eat that would make Gem Steven feel worse than he outwardly showed. The cloaked figure turned toward Human Steven then gently placing a sleeve covered hand on Human Steven's face, to help him calm down, to which he nuzzled happily in to it. "I mean I didn't mean to make you feel like the fate of the Earth depended on you honestly... I was just really worried about messing up... I mean tutoring you in something mundane is one thing verses something that has to do with the more dangerous side of life is really different... sure my teaching methods are the same but that doesn't mean I'm not more in my head about one verses the other." Human Steven sighed softly. "I'm also really sorry you had to see us like that... usually we do kinda fuse to make things private but... because my lovely girlfriend here mentioned there was gonna be a storm coming it wasn't a good idea to have Steven Squared active during a storm... but now that you're hear maybe it'd be best to introduce properly... since I don't think you need to wear the tent as a cloak in doors."

"Yea, fair enough." The cloaked figure then shed her cloak revealing that it was Connie, or rather their version of Connie. She was petting over Human Steven's curly hair giving a small hum. She had short, curly off reddish hair with a strip of a green dyed that was like a strip that wrapped around her head. She was wearing a purple crop top shirt with a pink star, she had blue shorts, bright pink knee high shorts and dress shoes. She also had a pale scar across her exposed midriff that looked similar to the thorny vine pattern on Steven's shield. "Anyway, I guess I should make the introduction simple... hello... my name's Connie..., and I'd assume by this point you're already very familiar with multiverse theory and alternate timelines... I'm from their original timeline... and I came with them when we had to .... in a sort of sense abandon ship... I'm happy to answer any questions on your mind about almost anything and almost everything because we don't need these two having another argument again.... which isn't going to happen... again... right?"

"Of course not." Human Steven replied. "Connie, you know me by now, I am not gonna agree to what I can't guarantee." Gem Steven replied. "Anyway, here's your grilled cheese." "Thank you." Pink Connie replied choose to sit on the ground by the kids as she ate.

The older Stevens both chiming in with a No from Gem Steven while Human Steven chimed in with a Yes, before they looked at each other and both let out a sigh in unison. Classic Steven looked over at the both of them with pleading eyes as he wanted answers just as much as Connie did.

Gem Steven crossed his arms and looked at his brothers, Human Steven looking with a gaze that said he didn’t want to hide it from Steven and more and the other one looked as if he just wanted to be let in on the big deal that Gem Steven kept brushing off as nothing but not it was very clearly something. He grumbled. “Fine … fine… we can tell them.”

“Thank yo–”

“Starting with the fact that it is indeed without a shadow of a doubt my fault entirely.”

“Steven, it was no your fault, you weren’t even yourself through most of that!”

“Well neither were you, you were stressed out of your gourd the whole time. It just as bad as when I gave myself up to homeworld for the trial…”

“That’s different, you didn’t need to leave me behind on Earth!”

“I did, because you’re a human you are delicate and squishy and at the time you couldn’t even hold a shield up for 3 seconds without getting winded!”

Classic Steven frowned seeing them start up their back and forth.
