*Sunburn* â red, painful skin that feels hot to the touch â usually appears within a few hours after too much exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light from sunshine or artificial sources, such as sunlamps.
Intense, repeated sun exposure that results in sunburn increases your risk of other skin damage and certain diseases. These include dry or wrinkled skin, dark spots, rough spots, and skin cancers, such as melanoma. You can usually find sunburn relief with simply home remedies. Sunburn may take several days or longer to fade.
You can prevent sunburn and related conditions by protecting your skin. This is especially important when you're outdoors, even on cool or cloudy days.
Symptoms
Sunburn signs and symptoms include:
Pinkness or redness
Skin that feels warm or hot to the touch
Pain, tenderness and itching
Swelling
Small fluid-filled blisters, which may break
Headache, fever, nausea and fatigue if the sunburn is severe
Any exposed part of your body â including your earlobes, scalp and lips â can burn. Even covered areas can burn if, for example, your clothing has a loose weave that allows ultraviolet (UV) light through. Your eyes, which are extremely sensitive to the sun's UV light, also can burn. Sunburned eyes may feel painful or gritty.
Signs and symptoms of sunburn usually appear within a few hours after sun exposure. But it may take a day or longer to know the full extent of your sunburn.
Within a few days, your body may start to heal itself by "peeling" the top layer of damaged skin. After peeling, your skin may temporarily have an irregular color and pattern. A bad sunburn may take several days or longer to heal.
When to see a doctor
See your doctor if the sunburn:
Is blistering and covers a large portion of your body
Is accompanied by a high fever, extreme pain, headache, confusion, nausea or chills
Doesn't improve within a few days
Also seek medical care if you notice signs or symptoms of an infection. These include:
Increasing pain and tenderness
Increasing swelling
Yellow drainage (pus) from an open blister
Red streaks leading away from the open blister.
*Causes*
Skin layers and melanin
Skin layers and melanin
Sunburns are caused by exposure to too much ultraviolet (UV) light. UV radiation is a wavelength of sunlight in a range too short for the human eye to see. Ultraviolet A (UVA) is the type of solar radiation most associated with skin aging (photoaging). Ultraviolet B (UVB) is associated with sunburn. Exposure to both types of radiation is associated with developing skin cancer. Sunlamps and tanning beds also produce UV light and can cause sunburn.
Melanin is the dark pigment in the outer layer of skin (epidermis) that gives your skin its normal color. When you're exposed to UV light, your body protects itself by accelerating the production of melanin. The extra melanin creates the darker color of a tan.
A suntan is your body's way of blocking the UV rays to prevent sunburn and other skin damage. But the protection only goes so far. The amount of melanin you produce is determined genetically. Many people simply don't produce enough melanin to protect the skin well. Eventually, UV light causes the skin to burn, bringing pain, redness and swelling.
You can get sunburn on cool, hazy or cloudy days. As much as 80 percent of UV rays pass through clouds. Snow, sand, water and other surfaces can reflect UV rays, burning your skin as severely as direct sunlight.
*Risk factors*
Risk factors for sunburn include:
Having light skin, blue eyes, and red or blond hair
Living or vacationing somewhere sunny, warm or at high altitude
Working outdoors
Mixing outdoor recreation and drinking alcohol
Having a history of sunburn
Regularly exposing unprotected skin to UV light from sunlight or artificial sources, such as tanning beds
Taking a drug that makes you more likely to burn (photosensitizing medications)
Complications
Intense, repeated sun exposure that results in sunburn increases your risk of other skin damage and certain diseases. These include premature aging of your skin (photoaging) and skin cancer.
Premature aging of your skin
Sun exposure and repeated sunburns accelerate the skin's aging process, making you look older than you are. Skin changes caused by UV light are called photoaging. The results of photoaging include:
Weakening of connective tissues, which reduces the skin's strength and elasticity
Deep wrinkles
Dry, rough skin
Fine red veins on your cheeks, nose and ears
Freckles, mostly on your face and shoulders
Dark or discolored spots (macules) on your face, back of hands, arms, chest and upper back â also called solar lentigines (len-TIJ-ih-neze)
Precancerous skin lesions
Precancerous skin lesions appear as rough, scaly patches in areas that have been damaged by the sun. They may be whitish, pink, tan or brown. They're usually found on the sun-exposed areas of the head, face, neck and hands of light-skinned people. These patches can evolve into skin cancer. They're also called actinic keratoses (ak-TIN-ik ker-uh-TOE-seez) and solar keratoses.
*Skin cancer*
Excessive sun exposure, even without sunburn, increases your risk of skin cancer, such as melanoma. It can damage the DNA of skin cells. Sunburns in childhood and adolescence may increase your risk of developing melanoma later in life.
Skin cancer develops mainly on areas of the body most exposed to sunlight, including the scalp, face, lips, ears, neck, chest, arms, hands and legs. Skin cancer on the leg is more common in women than in men.
Some types of skin cancer appear as a small growth or a sore that bleeds easily, crusts over, heals and then reopens. With melanoma, an existing mole may change or a new, suspicious-looking mole may develop. A type of melanoma called lentigo maligna develops in areas of long-term sun exposure. It starts as a tan flat spot that slowly darkens and enlarges.
See your doctor if you notice a new skin growth, a bothersome change in your skin, a change in the appearance or texture of a mole, or a sore that doesn't heal.
*Eye damage*
The sun can also burn your eyes. Too much UV light damages the retina, lens or cornea. Sun damage to the lens can lead to clouding of the lens (cataracts). Sunburned eyes may feel painful or gritty. Sunburn of the cornea is also called snow blindness.
*Prevention*
Use these methods to prevent sunburn, even on cool, cloudy or hazy days. And be extra careful around water, snow and sand because they reflect the sun's rays. In addition, UV light is more intense at high altitudes.
Avoid sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The sun's rays are strongest during these hours, so try to schedule outdoor activities for other times. If you can't do that, limit the length of time you're in the sun. Seek shade when possible.
Avoid sun tanning and tanning beds. Using tanning beds to obtain a base tan doesn't decrease your risk of sunburn.
Cover up. When outside, wear a wide-brimmed hat and clothing that covers you, including your arms and legs. Dark colors offer more protection, as do tightly woven fabrics. Consider using outdoor gear specially designed to provide sun protection. Check the label for its ultraviolet protection factor (UPF), which indicates how effectively a fabric blocks damaging sunlight. The higher the number, the better.
Use sunscreen frequently and generously. Apply water-resistant sunscreen and lip balm with an SPF of 30 or greater and broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. About 15 to 30 minutes before going outdoors, apply sunscreen generously on skin that won't be protected by clothing.
Put on more sunscreen every 40 to 80 minutes, or sooner if it has washed off from swimming or sweating. If you're also using insect repellent, apply the sunscreen first. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not recommend products that combine an insect repellent with a sunscreen.
The Food and Drug Administration requires all sunscreen to retain its original strength for at least three years. Check the sunscreen labels for directions on storing and expiration dates. Throw sunscreen away if it's expired or more than three years old.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends using other forms of sun protection, such as shade or clothing, for babies and toddlers. Keep them cool and hydrated. You may use sunscreen on babies and toddlers when sun protective clothing and shade aren't available. The best products for them are those that contain physical blockers (titanium oxide, zinc oxide), as they may cause less skin irritation.
Wear sunglasses when outdoors. Choose sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection. Check the UV rating on the label when buying new glasses. Darker lenses are not necessarily better at blocking UV rays. It also helps to wear sunglasses that fit close to your face and have wraparound frames that block sunlight from all angles.
Be aware of medications that increase your sensitivity to the sun. Common drugs that make you more sensitive to sunlight include antihistamines, ibuprofen, certain antibiotics, antidepressants, antipsychotics and some cholesterol-lowering drugs. Talk with your pharmacist about your medication side effects.

homeopathy is the specific practice of diluting ingredients extensively in a particular way, based on the idea that something related to an illness (e.g. a toxic substance that causes similar symptoms) can be used to treat that illness. the ingredient intended to treat the illness is so dilute that it is essentially or actually no longer there. it is not a catch-all term for alternative medicine or pseudoscientific medical practices
#sorry I donât actually care about this that much but that post is bothering me#this may not be 100% correct I learned about this like 8 years ago#I donât think homeopathy is real but I do take homeopathic cold medicine sometimes bc I contain multitudes

He seemed to like Meg, despite his oft-cited concerns. Kate seemed to like her too. Weâd had them over for dinner during one of Megâs visits, and Meg cooked, and everything was good. Willy had a cold: he was sneezing and coughing, and Meg ran upstairs to get him some of her homeopathic cure-alls. Oregano oil, turmeric. He seemed charmed, moved, though Kate announced to the table that heâd never take such unconventional remedies.
LMAO wow I just can't believe the stories they use to build up the idea of Kate = baddie
She takes real medicine, wears shoes and doesn't share lipgloss. The nerve of that girl!

Hi! If youâre open to taking requests right now could I please ask for how bubba, Jeff, and vittorio would take care of their sick s/o? Tysm!! <3
I can absolutely do that. I'm sorry it's been taking me so long to get to requests. I've been anxious, tired, and kind of depressed. But I'll keep trying to bring everyone at least one thing every day.
Taking Care of a Sick Reader
Jeff, Vittorio, Cannibal
Jeff Johanson
Jeff is a very vigilant person.
He's always been that way.
So when the first sign of you being sick appears, he knows.
You just sneezed though.
"You sneezed three times. Every time that happens you start to get sick."
And he's right.
As an artist and musician, he's trained himself to pick up on tiny little details.
First off, straight to bed.
If you're in the middle of something, he'll finish it for you.
No: ifs, ands, or buts.
You're in bed.
At least when you're sick, you get to have his amazing soup that he only gives you when you're sick.
It's his way of creating a silver lining.
He isn't big on medicines though.
Jeff was in a bad crowd, he had seen people get addicted to drugs from the littlest things.
He just doesn't want to risk that in you.
Instead, he'll go more homeopathic.
You'll be better pretty quick too.
It doesn't matter how much you coughed and sneezed, he won't get sick.
It's like he has super powers.
"I don't have super powers, I just can't be sick. Otherwise, I couldn't be there for you."
Vittorio Toscano
During his time, a cold could mean a death sentence.
So, even if he doesn't show it, he's very worried.
Vittorio is really good at hiding that worry though.
He doesn't want you to panic.
That would only make things so much worse.
Some of the other survivors might have to catch him up on modern medical knowledge.
Once he's assured that you aren't going to die, then he'll be much more helpful.
He'll insist on doing everything for you.
Even carrying you.
Everywhere.
Even if you don't need it.
He doesn't really understand that you don't need that.
Or he does, and just wants to be your hero.
Modern medicine is far from what he knew; pills and other drugs aren't common knowledge to him.
What is common is plants.
He'll be working together with Claudette to use herbs to make you feel better.
It tastes terrible.
But it does have you feeling better.
He doesn't get sick either.
He knows to wash his hands and give you some distance.
"Now that you are feeling well again, I can safely hold you."
Cannibal
This boy is surprisingly calm.
You'd expect him to panic or not know what to do.
But he's very calm.
He had a big family.
Big.
And he would usually take on a very motherly role.
He's taken care of everyone in his family with sicknesses at least once in their life, usually more.
Bubba is super good with helping you when you're sick.
He might not seem like it, but he's very tender and affectionate when he wants to be.
He isn't a fan of showing that side of him to the rest of the world though.
It's only reserved for you.
He might try and cook you some soup.
Do not eat that soup.
Seriously.
Don't eat it.
To spare his feelings, just say that your stomach hurts too much to eat.
He's very gullible.
He knows it's important that you drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest.
He'll frequently check on you throughout the day too.
You'll never have an empty water glass, nor will you never have enough blankets.
He knows exactly what you need, and how much of it you need.
And, as much of a pushover he may be, you aren't getting or doing anything that will make you feel worse.
Your job is to lay in bed and get better.
His job is to take care of you.
And he takes that role very seriously.

Kidney stones are small masses of salts and minerals that form inside the kidneys and may travel down the urinary tract. Kidney stones range in size from just a speck to as large as a ping pong ball. Signs and symptoms of kidney stones include blood in the urine, and pain in the abdomen, groin, or flank. About 5% of people develop a kidney stone in their lifetime.
Facts
⢠A kidney stone is a hard, crystalline mineral material formed within the kidney or urinary tract.
⢠One in every 20 people develops kidney stones at some point in their life.
⢠Kidney stones form when there is a decrease in urine volume and/or an excess of stone-forming substances in the urine.
⢠Dehydration is a major risk factor for kidney stone formation.
⢠Symptoms of a kidney stone include flank pain (the pain can be quite severe) and blood in the urine (hematuria).
⢠People with certain medical conditions, such as gout, and those who take certain medications or supplements are at risk for kidney stones.
⢠Diet and hereditary factors are also related to stone formation.
⢠Diagnosis of kidney stones is best accomplished using an ultrasound, intravenous pyleography (IVP), or a CT scan.
⢠Most kidney stones will pass through the ureter to the bladder on their own with time.
⢠Treatment includes pain-control medications and, in some cases, medications to facilitate the passage of urine.
⢠If needed, lithotripsy or surgical techniques may be used for stones which do not pass through the ureter to the bladder on their own.
A kidney stone is a hard, crystalline mineral material formed within the kidney or urinary tract. Kidney stones are a common cause of blood in the urine (hematuria) and often severe pain in the abdomen, flank, or groin. Kidney stones are sometimes called renal calculi.
Anyone may develop a kidney stone, but people with certain diseases and conditions or those who are taking certain medications are more susceptible to their development. Urinary tract stones are more common in men than in women. Most urinary stones develop in people 20 to 49 years of age, and those who are prone to multiple attacks of kidney stones usually develop their first stones during the second or third decade of life. People who have already had more than one kidney stone are prone to developing further stones.
In residents of industrialized countries, kidney stones are more common than stones in the bladder. The opposite is true for residents of developing areas of the world, where bladder stones are the most common. This difference is believed to be related to dietary factors.
A family history of kidney stones is also a risk factor for developing kidney stones.
Uric acid kidney stones are more common in people with chronically elevated uric acid levels in their blood (hyperuricemia).
A small number of pregnant women develop kidney stones, and there is some evidence that pregnancy-related changes may increase the risk of stone formation. Factors that may contribute to stone formation during pregnancy include a slowing of the passage of urine due to increased progesterone levels and diminished fluid intake due to a decreasing bladder capacity from the enlarging uterus. Healthy pregnant women also have a mild increase in their urinary calcium excretion. However, it remains unclear whether the changes of pregnancy are directly responsible for kidney stone formation or if these women have another underlying factor that predisposes them to kidney stone formation.
Kidney stones form when there is a decrease in urine volume and/or an excess of stone-forming substances in the urine. The most common type of kidney stone contains calcium in combination with either oxalate or phosphate. A majority of kidney stones are calcium stones. Other chemical compounds that can form stones in the urinary tract include uric acid, magnesium ammonium phosphate, and the amino acid cysteine.
Dehydration from reduced fluid intake or strenuous exercise without adequate fluid replacement increases the risk of kidney stones. Obstruction to the flow of urine can also lead to stone formation. In this regard, climate may be a risk factor for kidney stone development, since residents of hot and dry areas are more likely to become dehydrated and susceptible to stone formation.
Kidney stones can also result from infection in the urinary tract. These are known as struvite or infection stones. Metabolic abnormalities, including inherited disorders of metabolism, can alter the composition of the urine and increase an individual's risk of stone formation.
A number of different medical conditions can lead to an increased risk for developing kidney stones:
⢠Gout results in chronically increased amount of uric acid in the blood and urine and can lead to the formation of uric acid kidney stones.
⢠Hypercalciuria (high calcium in the urine), another inherited condition, causes stones in more than half of cases. In this condition, too much calcium is absorbed from food and excreted into the urine, where it may form calcium phosphate or calcium oxalate kidney stones.
⢠Other conditions associated with an increased risk of kidney stones include hyperparathyroidism, kidney diseases such as renal tubular acidosis, and other inherited metabolic conditions, including cystinuria and hyperoxaluria.
⢠Chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure (hypertension) are also associated with an increased risk of developing kidney stones.
⢠People with inflammatory bowel disease are also more likely to develop kidney stones.
⢠Those who have undergone intestinal bypass or ostomy surgery are also at increased risk for kidney stones.
⢠Some medications also raise the risk of kidney stones. These medications include some diuretics, calcium-containing antacids, and the protease inhibitor indinavir (Crixivan), a drug used to treat HIV infection.
⢠Dietary factors and practices may increase the risk of stone formation in susceptible individuals. In particular, inadequate fluid intake predisposes to dehydration, which is a major risk factor for stone formation. Other dietary practices that may increase an individual's risk of forming kidney stones include a high intake of animal protein, a high-salt diet, excessive sugar consumption, excessive vitamin D supplementation, and excessive intake of oxalate-containing foods such as spinach. Interestingly, low levels of dietary calcium intake may alter the calcium-oxalate balance and result in the increased excretion of oxalate and a propensity to form oxalate stones.
⢠Hyperoxaluria as an inherited condition is uncommon and is known as primary hyperoxaluria. The elevated levels of oxalate in the urine increase the risk of stone formation. Primary hyperoxaluria is much less common than hyperoxaluria due to dietary factors as mentioned above.
⢠While some kidney stones may not produce symptoms (known as "silent" stones), people who have kidney stones often report the sudden onset of excruciating, cramping pain in their low back and/or side, groin, or abdomen. Changes in body position do not relieve this pain. The abdominal, groin, and/or back pain typically waxes and wanes in severity, characteristic of colicky pain (the pain is sometimes referred to as renal colic). It may be so severe that it is often accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The pain has been described by many as the worst pain of their lives, even worse than the pain of childbirth or broken bones. Kidney stones also characteristically cause bloody urine. If infection is present in the urinary tract along with the stones, there may be fever and chills. Sometimes, symptoms such as difficulty urinating, urinary urgency, penile pain, or testicular pain may occur due to kidney stones.
The diagnosis of kidney stones is suspected when the typical pattern of symptoms is noted and when other possible causes of the abdominal or flank pain are excluded. Which is the ideal test to diagnose kidney stones is controversial. Imaging tests are usually done to confirm the diagnosis. Many patients who go to the emergency room will have a non-contrast CT scan done. This can be done rapidly and will help rule out other causes for flank or abdominal pain. However, a CT scan exposes patients to significant radiation, and recently, ultrasound in combination with plain abdominal X-rays have been shown to be effective in diagnosing kidney stones.
In pregnant women or those who should avoid radiation exposure, an ultrasound examination may be done to help establish the diagnosis.
Most kidney stones eventually pass through the urinary tract on their own within 48 hours, with ample fluid intake. Ketorolac (Toradol), an injectable anti-inflammatory drug, and narcotics may be used for pain control when over-the-counter pain control medications are not effective. Toradol, aspirin, and NSAIDs must be avoided if lithotripsy is to be done because of the increased risk of bleeding or if there is impaired kidney function. Intravenous pain medications can be given when nausea and vomiting are present.
Although there are no proven home remedies to dissolve kidney stones, home treatment may be considered for patients who have a known history of kidney stones. Since most kidney stones, given time, will pass through the ureter to the bladder on their own, treatment is directed toward control of symptoms. Home care in this case includes the consumption of plenty of fluids. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be used as pain medication if there is no contraindication to its use. If further pain medication is needed, stronger narcotic pain medications may be recommended.
There are several factors that influence the ability to pass a stone. These include the size of the person, prior stone passage, prostate enlargement, pregnancy, and the size of the stone. A 4 mm stone has an 78% chance of passage while a 5 mm stone has a 18% chance. Stones larger than 9 mm to 10 mm rarely pass without specific treatment.
Rather than having to undergo treatment, it is best to avoid kidney stones in the first place when possible. It can be especially helpful to drink more water, since low fluid intake and dehydration are major risk factors for kidney stone formation.
Depending on the cause of the kidney stones and an individual's medical history, changes in the diet or medications are sometimes recommended to decrease the likelihood of developing further kidney stones. If one has passed a stone, it can be particularly helpful to have it analyzed in a laboratory to determine the precise type of stone so specific prevention measures can be considered.
People who have a tendency to form calcium oxalate kidney stones may be advised to limit their consumption of foods high in oxalate, such as spinach, rhubarb, Swiss chard, beets, wheat germ, and peanuts. Also drinking lemon juice or lemonade may be helpful in preventing kidney stones.
Most kidney stones will pass on their own, and successful treatments have been developed to remove larger stones or stones that do not pass. People who have had a kidney stone remain at risk for future stones throughout their lives.
For some people who have had many kidney stones, home care may be appropriate. When passing a kidney stone, drinking lots of fluid is important. In fact, this is the most important home care measure. Medications may help control the pain (as described previously). However, if it is the first time one has had symptoms suggestive of a kidney stone, it is important to see a doctor right away.
Homeopathy has good and very effective medicines for all kind of stones. They have good results.

It doesnât work. When tested under rigorous conditions â when neither the patient nor the doctor knows whether theyâre using homeopathy or not until all of the tests are done â homeopathy has shown to work no better than a sugar pill. That doesnât mean people do not feel better after taking homeopathy; only that those feelings arenât related to the homeopathy. This is known as the placebo effect and is often misunderstood. Conventional medicine also has a placebo effect, on top of its other benefits. The choice between medicine and homeopathy comes down to a simple question: would you have a placebo, or a placebo plus a treatment that has been proven to work?
It couldnât work. The theoretical principles that underpin homeopathy lack any scientific credibility and the so-called âlaws of homeopathyâ do not tally with anything we know about the world around us. Only a basic understanding of chemistry is needed to demonstrate that that homeopathic tinctures can only be plain water. For more on the theory behind homeopathy, see our What is Homeopathy page.
Itâs a waste of your money. The homeopathy industry is worth around ÂŁ40million in the UK, and around âŹ400million in both France and Germany. While this may seem small compared to the pharmaceutical industry, pharmaceutical medicines are required to show clinical effectiveness before they are licensed for sale. Homeopathy bears no such requirements and ÂŁ40million is a lot of money to spend on something that you havenât proved works. Homeopathic pills are being sold at a cost of around ÂŁ5.95 for less than 20g of sugar pills. Without any active ingredient, that ultimately amounts to a lot of money for not a lot of sugar.
Itâs a waste of everyoneâs money. In the UK, the NHS spends an estimated ÂŁ4million every year on homeopathy. The British government also supports four Homeopathic Hospitals using taxpayers money, in Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool and London. The evidence is very clear: homeopathy does not work and therefore has no place within the National Health Service. Despite the recent heavy cuts in public expenditure, the British government still refuses to cut funding for homeopathy, even when advised to do so by top scientists.
Itâs a waste of your time. When homeopathy is accepted as a viable alternative to medicine, patients waste time taking useless pills and potions instead of seeking expert medical attention. For mild ailments, like a cough or a cold, the risks are minimal; but for patients with more severe conditions, time can be a significant factor in their recovery. Many homeopaths even directly encourage patients to wait before seeking medical attention, even when their condition deteriorates, claiming that worsening symptoms are a sign their potions are working. Moreover, patients with terminal conditions are left with an unrealistic view of their condition and may be distracted from making the most of the time they have left. This ultimately leads to more heartache and suffering when the bogus treatment proves futile.
Itâs a waste of everyoneâs time. Thousands of studies have been conducted into the effectiveness of homeopathy and its various âlawsâ. So far, none reliably shown homeopathy to be effective and most are conclusively negative. Any conventional treatment with a similar track record would have been dropped a long time ago. In fact, many treatments have been dropped, even with a stronger evidence base than exists for homeopathy. If we werenât wasting time proving, yet again, that homeopathy doesnât work, we could be looking for treatments that do.
There are alternatives to this alternative. The thing about homeopathy is, we donât need it. Medicine works. Diseases like measles, whooping cough and polio are effectively prevented by vaccination. Modern anti-retroviral drugs help HIV sufferers manage their condition so effectively that AIDS is no longer the death sentence it once was. Homeopaths offer bogus âcuresâ for AIDS, which leads to vulnerable people, sick to death, paying for the privilege.
Itâs not what it says on the label. Buy a vial of 30C homeopathic sulphur at your local pharmacy and one thing you can be sure you wonât find in the bottle is any sulphur. You have significantly more chance of winning a triple rollover on the lottery than you have of finding even a single atom of sulphur in that tube; but the label still reads âSulphurâ.
It detracts from medicine. Giving legitimacy to unproven and ineffective treatments does not come without a cost. The cost of allowing the promotion of homeopathy as an âalternativeâ to medicine comes when patients are unable to distinguish between a self-limiting condition which will cure itself given time, and a more serious illness which will become life-threatening if incorrectly treated. Stories of people abandoning medicine in favour of quack cures, with disastrous results, are not hard to find. By allowing the promotion of a therapy proven to be ineffective and implausible, we encourage people to turn their back on the treatments that can help them.
It has abused its placebo privileges. From time to time, itâs understandable that a simple-to-administer placebo treatment might carry some benefit for doctors, where no medical intervention has a particular, proven effectiveness. In these scenarios, it could be argued that homeopathy might have had a role to play, providing a harm-free, effect-free placebo to help manage the otherwise unmanageable. However, homeopaths abuse this minor level of legitimacy to make claims about conditions the placebo effect could not possible treat. Cancer, HIV, malaria, yellow fever, autism, tuberculosis. They discourage people from seeking medical help when they most need it. Itâs time to stop lending support to quackery; time to give people the facts about this 200-year-old snake oil, before they choose to use it instead of the ever-improving and reliable interventions of modern medicine.

This article is talking about CVS ditching common cold meds and how people now want CVS to do something with homeopathic products. I didn't realize the homeopathic products are mixed with actual medicines that have been approved by the FDA.

đĽ¤Daily Detox DrinkđĽ¤
So I'm all for doing as much as you can that's beneficial for your well-being that isn't medicine. That said, homeopathy is not the answer to every medical condition and you should definitely consult your doctor before integrating homeopathic remedies to your health regimen. I am not a professional. Please, dear Lord, don't take my word as gospel.
Anyway, here's a budget friendly detox drink with a bunch of health benefits. You can find the ingredients at your local supermarket. Nothing fancy. This isn't really a cure for anything in particular, just a general keep-you-healthy beverage. đ Health benefits per ingredient are listed at the bottom (plus, if you're interested, the magickal properties as well).
Turmeric powder 15ml
Apple Cider Vinegar 30ml
Ginger (chopped) 1 tbsp
Black Pepper 1 tsp
Lemon Juice 60ml
Honey 30ml
Cinnamon (chopped or powdered) 10ml
6 cups WARM water (not boiling!)
Dump all the stuff in the warm water and mix it round. Store it in the fridge. This makes enough for a week's supply, ingested daily in the a.m.
Here's what it should look like once bottled. I tried to make it look palateable. I warn you now, it is not. It IS, however, good for you.
These are some of the benefits when the ingredient is ingested:
Turmeric - boosts your metabolism, aids with symptoms of hayfever, depression, inflammation, high cholesterol and osteo-arthritis. Also helps with the build up of fat in the liver and mild itching. It has strong cleansing properties, along with encouraging prosperity, love, spiritual growth and wisdom.
Apple Cider Vinegar - helps regulate blood sugar, good for gut health (bloating & indigestion), helps with relaxing leg cramps, helps ease coughs & colds, aids with high cholesterol and increases energy levels. Strong cleansing and banishing properties, enhances romantic connections, encourages prosperity and intution.
Ginger - relieves nausea, vomiting and headaches, reduces inflammation, eases joint pain and symptoms of osteo- and rheumatoid arthirits, menstrual pain, risk of heart health and high cholesterol. Helps regulate blood sugar, boosts your immune system and gut health, and helps improve brain function. It's also said to have anti-cancer properties. Ginger encourages vitality, protection, love and romance, healing, prosperity and psychic awareness, and courage.
Black Pepper - good for gut health, eases symptoms of inflammation, depression, and helps regulate blood sugar levels. It also aids in brain function, collagen production, nutrient absorption and dental health. Similar to ginger, said to have anti-cancer properties. It encourages emotional strength and opens spiritual pathways; promotes healthy personal power, self worth, courage, stamina, and self control.
Lemon Juice - rich in vitamin C, anti-oxidants and citric acid (preventing kidney stones). Aids in hydration and digestion. Used to call in longevity, purification, unity, uplifting, clarity, friendship, happiness, rejuvenation, awareness, love, fidelity, new beginnings, cleansing, and protection.
Cinnamon - Packed with anti-oxidants. Helps reduce inflammation and protects against heart disease, as well as regulates blood sugar levels. It is said to aid in neuro-degeneration like in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, have anti-cancer properties and aid in bacterial and fungal infections. Can be used to draw money, protection, stimulating psychic powers, success, lust, love and to raise vibrations.
Honey - Another anti-oxidant gold mine, helps regulate blood sugar and blood pressure levels. It's overall great for heart health and cholesterol and can soothe a cough and sore throat. Honey is symbolic of fertility, community, prosperity, diligence and work ethic.Â
To make a greater use of the esoteric properties, you can integrate this into a larger ritual/ spell.
Enjoy!

âWilly had a cold: he was sneezing and coughing, and Meg ran upstairs to get him some of her homeopathic cure-alls. Oregano oil, turmeric. He seemed charmed, moved, though Kate announced to the table that heâd never take such unconventional remedies. We talked about Wimbledon that night, and Suits, and Willy and Kate werenât brave enough to admit to being superfans. Which was sweet. The only possibly discordant note I could think of was the marked difference in how the two women dressed, which both of them seemed to notice. Meg: ripped jeans, barefoot. Kate: done up to the nines.â
Bitch k8 is back! Telling meg willy will NEVER take her yucky homeopathic medicine. EVIL I TELL YOU
