Top 10 Goth Gift Stores to Explore This Holiday Season
Discover the best goth gift stores to find unique presents this holiday season. From gothic jewelry to dark art, explore curated shops perfect for your spooky holiday list.
Shopping for your black-hearted darling can be challenging if you’re unfamiliar with the alternative lifestyle. So, looking for the perfect gift? These goth gift stores offer a range of dark and unique items for the holidays. Let’s take a look!
Note: β€œThey” is used to facilitate the reading as GBM didn’t want to assume the pronouns of any shop owner.
Tumblr media
Dracula Clothing
$$$$
Located in Zatec, Czechia, in Europe, Dracula Clothing offers a wide range of unique gothic gifts. The owner wished to create an alternative clothing fashion line for people like them to enjoy. At first, they thought perhaps it’d only be for friends and family members, but they ended up selling worldwide.
Tumblr media
What is also charming about Dracula Clothing is its pride in creating high-quality, timeless, classic pieces of clothing that last. They value the environment and prioritize quality over quantity. So, as a buyer, you can be sure that whatever you buy from them is something your goth will enjoy, feel great about, and keep.
Dracula Clothing’s fashion is Victorian-style. It is an old-time classic and offers an official and elegant look for important meetings, soirees, or official family gatherings. A bit more on the pricey side of the list, Dracula Clothing can offer a wide variety of eloquence in its pieces of clothing, from corsets to winter coats.
The Blackened Teeth
$$$$
Don’t you ever go into a room and wish you had a better way to light it up? Anywhere I go, everyone has the same lamps and lighting fixtures. But lights can make a bold statement in someone’s home. They can show who you are and what you enjoy. It doesn’t have to be boring!
Tumblr media
The Blackened Teeth has many gothic holiday gift ideas for anyone looking for something different while keeping a classic look. Founded in 2018, the Etsy store is located in the United Kingdom, Europe, where Rebecca and Lee make death a fashion statement.
Fascinated by the tomblike and grotesque aspect of death, The Blackened Teeth brings the most unique and macabre pieces of art to their lamps and wall hangings. Located at the higher end of the spectrum in this list, the Etsy store can offer a gothic fashion statement for any alternative soul out there.
Shield Maiden Jewelry
$$$$
Alternative holiday shopping isn’t always easy. But handcrafted jewellery is always a special gift for any edgy darlings in your life. On the more expensive side, you can be sure of the quality of any items from this edgy Etsy shop.
Tumblr media
With seventy-two hundred sales, the Shield Maiden Jewelry store is a safe place to shop. The shop has been available on Etsy since 2017 and is also building a good reputation. The owner has the soul of a Viking and the creativity of a most empowered maiden. She brings Norse beauty to every item they make.
Proud to use ethical materials to make her jewelry, this creator is determined to make her clients proud to wear her creations. β€œGothic Glamour” is what she calls her artwork, and with that said, you can make sure any warrior, edgy, and goth would be proud to have one of her pieces to wear!
Vampire Freaks
$$$
Vampire Freaks is a little gem of a store I came across while looking for goth stores for the holidays! This store proudly expresses that it is a safe place for the LGBTQ+ community, promises to protect all animal life, making it vegan-friendly, and embraces people of all ages and from everywhere.
This place is perfect for gothic Christmas gifts! Founded in 1999, Vampire Freak has been part of the alternative culture for a while. This impressive independent store is managed and owned by a lovely gothic married couple and their black cat, who seems to be the big boss! They welcome you to their store to find the perfect gift for your little goth!
Tumblr media
Vampire Freak started in New York, United States, as a message board and grew into a store. It even had a physical store for three years, from 2009 to 2012. But in 2020, Vampire Freak had its large warehouse in Philadelphia. It’s even the owner of a gothic American festival, Dark Force Fest.
I don’t think one can be more gothic than a store named Vampire Freak! It is quite easy to get lost on their website and enjoy all their alternative goodies! For alternative holiday shopping, I believe they have what your goth darling would want at reasonable prices and a wide variety of sizes.
Hard N Heavy
$$$
For Gothic Christmas gifts, we can look toward a lesser-known but verified Google online store called Hard N Heavy. In this one-stop shop, you can find anything for an alternative wardrobe. But I wanted to share it mostly for its various footwear.
Tumblr media
Footwear is a fashion statement that can reflect the personality of the alternative darling in your life. It speaks volumes and is always welcome as a gift. Whether it’s a pair of boots, shoes, platforms or flats, Hard N Heavy is the place for you!
The store accepts almost all online payments available to its customers and is with Shopify as well. Without an About section, it still offers a personalized experience, with each section having a unique description. It is a curiosity to visit and explore!
Killstar
$$$
Alternative holiday shopping can be complicated, but Killstar is one of the big gothic shops online! They have your back with a good assortment of choices for a more metal and gothic lifestyle. They offer everything from a complete wardrobe to houseware.
Not much is known about the store besides its mission to ensure that goth people have their home dΓ©cor and latest pieces of clothing. Average prices help find the perfect gift when on a budget, while still offering a personal present for your alternative darling.
Tumblr media
The store has been around for a little while, at least. I couldn’t find the year they were founded, but I know I looked at their website last year. I first heard of them on Facebook as they sponsored on there, and as a goth, it showed up on my feed.
They have good quality products, including glasses, dishes and towels, dresses, sweaters, and winter hats. The website always has a promotion or sale, which can make for a good shopping experience for new customers.
CaveManDigs
$$
All the holiday goth stores on this list are close to what this Etsy store has to offer! The Cave Man Digs is a unique stop for the alternative people in your life. The more edgy and those fascinated by the macabre or with witchy vibes would appreciate any gift from this little gem of a store.
Tumblr media
While I couldn’t find much information about the Etsy shop itself, we know it’s located in British Columbia, Canada. The owner is a biologist from a family of biologists. Their partner is from Ukraine, a European country, and is an Earth witch, making any item even more unique.
Jars of preserved organs, oddities and creatures are displayed in the most artistic and Victorian ways. The preservation is so well-detailed and done with care that any piece will become a conversation piece. You cannot go wrong with the Cave Man Digs for a unique gift.
Eternal Scream
$$
Etsy is a good way to support independent artists and creatives. So, I continued my research and stumbled upon the best goth shops, which include Eternal Scream. The creative mind of Mabel HervΓ‘s PΓ©rez brings many creative items to bring out unique gothic presents available for the public.
Tumblr media
Eternal Scream is an online store that makes stunning wall art and home dΓ©cor for alternative lovers. Mabel doesn’t enjoy normality and thrives on sharing their love of the gothic side of the world. The items are handmade with care, an incredible creative mind, and affordable prices. What’s not to love?
While I couldn’t find much information about the store, it is one that is enjoyed on Etsy. It is easy to find them on social media, and with forty-five hundred sales, it is a safe place to find the perfect home dΓ©cor gift for any goths this holiday season.
Crypt Cosmetics
$$
For gothic holiday gift ideas, this Etsy store could be a good stop! Crypt Cosmetics offers a small variety of beauty products. If your goth is for protecting the environment and animals, vegan, and prone to recycling, this store is for you!
Bre is the owner of Crypt Cosmetics and proudly shares how she wished for paraben-free, vegan, sustainable goods to make her beauty products. Dye/mica-free, cruelty-free, and fair trade, Crypt Cosmetics is sure to make your goth proud and happy to own an item from this amazing store.
Tumblr media
Localized on Etsy and with nearly 92,200 sales, Crypt Cosmetics is a safe place to shop. If you want more from Bre, they also have a second shop called Lunar Leviathan, where they sell resin artworkβ€”perhaps to complete the cosmetic gift!
While we know that makeup products can be a little tricky to buy for someone unless we know their taste or what they prefer, body oil can be a good option!
Night Owls Crafts Store
$
If you’re looking for a different kind of goth gift store, something for the crafty alternative soul in your life, this store might be for you. Located in the busy Canadian city of Toronto, this Etsy store sells stationery products.
For different gothic holiday gift ideas, the Night Owls Crafts Store offers a variety of scrapbooking papers, stickers, and cards. With inexpensive prices, this Etsy shop can be a nice addition to your list of stores when on a budget.
Tumblr media
Without any information about the owners, all I can share is how striking their items are. Themes vary from Edgar Alan Poe to lunar, gothic porcelain dolls to alchemy. The styles also vary from more photographic to sketch, watercolours to illustration.
The Night Owls Crafts Store offers a wide variety of Victorian, vintage circus, astrology, and botanicals!
Goth Gift Stores & Holiday Shopping For Goths
With a list of new goth and alternative items, I surely hope that everyone can find a little something for that special someone in their lives. Whether it is a Victorian-style long winter coat or goth footwear, a bold piece of Norse jewellery or vegan body oil, a coffin spider purse or paper for scrapbooking, there is a little something for someone.
Unique gothic gift ideas can be tricky if we’re not in the culture, but I think I was able to find some of the best goth shops! I’m sure whatever it is everyone settles on, it’ll be the perfect goth holiday present. It’s all about the thought coming from the heart. Happy Holidays!

We dissected the harmonious blend of deep indigo, carmine, and pinkish cinnamonβ€”a captivating exploration into the artistry of color coordination in fashion.
Understanding the Palette:
Deep indigo serves as the foundational hue, offering depth and sophistication to the ensemble. Its rich, dark tones establish a balanced backdrop, lending an air of refinement to the overall look.
Complementing deep indigo, carmine steps in with its vibrant red tones, injecting a burst of energy and contrast. This vivid hue adds dynamism and captivates attention within the ensemble.
Accentuating the palette, pinkish cinnamon contributes a soft and warm touch. Balancing the intensity of deep indigo and carmine, it introduces a gentle, feminine aspect, enhancing the ensemble's harmony.
Color Theory in Action:
The combination of these hues demonstrates fundamental color theory principles. The interplay between deep indigo and carmine showcases a complementary harmony, while the addition of pinkish cinnamon completes a harmonious triadic scheme, enhancing depth without disrupting balance.
Fashion as Expression:
Beyond colors, this exploration emphasizes fashion as a canvas for personal expression. It exemplifies how intentional color pairing isn't just about combining shades but a deliberate art form, reflecting individuality and creativity.

Rock the Beach This Christmas with Nauti But Nice Apparel
"Nautical Anchor Beach – Nauti But Nice" is a playful phrase that combines maritime themes with a cheeky pun. This concept evokes images of sun-soaked beaches, sailing adventures, and coastal living, all wrapped up in a lighthearted, slightly mischievous package.

The nautical anchor, a symbol of stability and strength at sea, serves as the central motif. It represents not just maritime culture, but also the idea of being grounded or "anchored" even in a fun, vacation-like atmosphere.
"Nauti But Nice" is a clever wordplay on "naughty but nice," suggesting a balance between fun-loving behavior and good-natured charm. This phrase captures the essence of beach culture – relaxed, fun, and a bit daring, but still maintaining a friendly, approachable vibe.
This concept would be perfect for beach-themed merchandise like t-shirts, tote bags, or seaside decor. It appeals to those who love coastal living, sailing enthusiasts, and anyone with an appreciation for witty marine-inspired humor.

The idea also conjures up images of laid-back beach bars, breezy sailing trips, and sun-drenched days by the shore. It's a celebration of the carefree spirit associated with beach life, while the anchor motif keeps it firmly rooted in nautical tradition.
Christmas in July is a whimsical celebration that brings the joy and festivities of the holiday season to the heart of summer. This unofficial holiday, typically observed in the Southern Hemisphere, allows people to experience Christmas cheer without the cold weather.
Participants often engage in traditional Christmas activities like gift-giving, decorating, and festive feasts, but with a summer twist. Think Santa in swim trunks, ornament-adorned palm trees, and barbecues instead of roast dinners.
For businesses, it's an opportunity for mid-year sales and promotions. Many stores offer special deals, mimicking the shopping frenzy of the actual holiday season.

The concept also appeals to those in the Northern Hemisphere as a fun way to break up the summer months. It's embraced by communities, vacation resorts, and even some television networks that air Christmas specials during July.
Christmas Eve Gift Ideas encompass a range of thoughtful presents perfect for exchanging on the night before Christmas. These often include cozy pajamas for Christmas morning, festive ornaments to hang on the tree, or special books to read together as a family. Some opt for holiday-themed treats like gourmet hot chocolate sets or

cookies. Personalized items such as stockings or tree decorations are also popular. For children, small toys or games can build excitement for Santa's arrival. These gifts are typically smaller and more intimate than the main presents opened on Christmas Day.

A (possibly) helpful guide to the Nikki-verse for Infinity Nikki Players
❄️Updated December 28th
Although it’s not at all necessary to know the lore of the previous games (Love Nikki, Shining Nikki), here is some info that you might benefit from if you’re joining the fandom with Infinity Nikki!
❄️General Info:
Love Nikki, Shining Nikki, and Infinity Nikki are all stand-alone games with self-contained stories, but they have some commonalities that I will get into later.
Love Nikki (LN) has a 2D art style, and is where many of us "veteran" players began our journey. Shining Nikki (SN) has both 2D and 3D art. Both of these games are stunning, so check them out!
Before Love Nikki, there were two other dress-up games in this series that did not involve being transported into a magical world. They were called NikkiUp2U (released 2012) and Hello Nikki (released around 2016). These games are more obscure, with the latter currently only being available in China, so not much is known about them to international fans.
The developers of the game are Chinese, so expect to get a lot of goodies around Lunar New Year and other major Chinese holidays!
According to Hello Nikki, our main character is around 19 years old. In Shining Nikki, she talks about how she used to go to college before getting transported to Miraland. Her birthday is December 6, which is why Infinity Nikki came out last week and why we got a free outfit (we’ll get a new one every year!)
Nikki's Chinese name is Nuan Nuan, how cute!
Momo claims he’s not a cat, but a member of the β€œMomo Clan” (LN). He was a little annoying in Love Nikki, but he’s more endearing in later games.
Nikki and Momo are the only recurring characters in the franchise.
The biggest advice I can give as a veteran is: Don't bother with trying to make a visually cohesive outfit for styling battles unless you have a lot of clothing. We've all tried it. It won't work. For now, just layer on everything that has high stats. You're always free to wear your fashionable outfits during regular gameplay, and "glow up" your favorite clothes when you have enough resources, so that you can make better outfits for later battles.
I've seen a lot of people in other places asking about whether the Nikki games will have more androgynous or masculine clothing, and they probably will! It took a while for these clothes to appear in LN and SN, but there are definitely several options out there, from ouji fashion to streetwear to military-style outfits. Read about the seven nations below to find out more.
A lot of people also seem curious about representation for people of color. Unfortunately, the options can be quite limited, as it took a while for textured hair options to appear for players in Love Nikki, and I'm not quite sure about the situation in Shining Nikki. Different cultures are represented in Miraland (as explained below) but they still have their limitations. With Infinity Nikki being more oriented towards an international fanbase than previous games, though, perhaps the developers will be encouraged to branch out more.
❄️Worldbuilding
The world that Nikki has been transported into is called Miraland.
Miraland is composed of seven nations, each with their own distinct fashion style. That means that if you do not like the style of clothes we’ve been seeing so far in Infinity Nikki, do not worry! They’ll have everything eventually.
For some reason, they changed the names of the countries in Infinity Nikki, and I’m not sure why (I’m going to keep mixing them up…). Below, I’ve listed their LN/SN names first, and their Infinity Nikki names second.
The seven nations are:
πŸŽ€Lilith/Ninir/Heartcraft Kingdom: In the older games, it was known mostly for fairytale-inspired clothing and lolita fashion, with the occasional οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½pastoral” suit. It looks like Heartcraft Kingdom in Infinity Nikki has been leaning more into the pastoral aesthetic, but Nonoy’s outfit seems to be in the lolita style. Also, the suits we have been crafting so far for catching bugs and petting the animals is at least lolita-inspired. (People who wear lolita fashion, please correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the Chinese version of this fashion is a lot more loose with the rules than the Japanese version I am more familiar with). This kingdom is always the first to be introduced in these games. Expect drama to follow whenever we get introduced to the royal family of this kingdom…it always happens. Nikki's first friend is always from this kingdom--we started with Bobo in Love Nikki, then Joy in Shining Nikki, and now Nonoy in Infinity Nikki.
πŸ‰Cloud Empire/Lanling Empire: Known for traditional and modern Asian fashion. A vast majority of the fashions are going to be inspired by Chinese fashion, so if you’re a fan of period dramas or xianxia, you’re in luck! Aside from hanfu and qipao, they also usually have some representation of other East Asian cultures, featuring several kimono and the occasional hanbok. (Due to some controversies in Shining Nikki relating to conflicts between China and Korea, however, I’m not sure if the developers will continue to add hanbok in future games). Love Nikki also included some outfits for Chinese ethnic minorities like the Miao, and Vietnamese ao dai if I remember correctly. All games also have at least one Peking Opera costumeβ€”it’s like an industry staple. Overall, Cloud Empire is usually the second kingdom to be introduced in the game, so I’m sure we’ll see it pretty soon. Maybe we’ll go along with Tan Youyou, depending on how the story will go.
πŸ‘ Apple Federation/Starhail Federation: Known for streetwear, high fashion, and casual clothing (like what you’d wear on an average day). I think Dada and Bebe’s outfits would be classified as Apple, even though they live in Heartcraft. Unlike the rural towns we have seen so far, Apple tends to be a very urban, city-based environment, filled with spies and shady businessmen. Nikki's girlfriend, Kimi (from Love Nikki), is also from here.
πŸ‘‘Pigeon Kingdom/Twinmoon Kingdom: Known for European fashions, including fairy costumes, witch/sorcerer outfits, Rococo dresses (with long skirts, compared to the lolita style in Lilith/Ninir/Heartcraft), and anything else you’d expect to see in a Western fantasy or period drama. Funnily enough, there is always at least one scene in the Pigeon Kingdom that has to do with a cathedral, so expect some fashions with gothic and Catholic-inspired imagery as well. Some of the inhabitants who live there are elves and fairies, like Timis. Although most of the ability outfits we have so far look like they're from Lilith/Ninir/Heartcraft, the "purification" outfit strikes me as something more typical of Pigeon.
βš”οΈNorth Kingdom/Empire of Light: A cold country best known for winter clothingβ€”heavy scarves, overcoats, and hatsβ€”as well as military attire. There is also at least one "ice queen" style suit in every game. If I recall correctly, this kingdom has been having civil wars since Love Nikki, so expect a lot of action in this area. I suspect that Bettina is from here, but I'm not sure yet.
πŸͺWasteland/Terra Alliance: The original name of this country sparked a lot of controversy, so I'm glad that they have changed it. This kingdom usually has desert-themed clothing, ancient Greek/Egyptian clothing, clothing inspired by nature, bohemian clothing, South, and Southeast Asian clothing (the cultural representation isn’t always the best, unfortunately…but I am optimistic that Shining Nikki and Infinity Nikki are more culturally sensitive than Love Nikki).
πŸ€–Ruin Island/Whaleport: A mysterious island that features β€œfuturistic” or sci-fi inspired clothing. In previous games, we have seen medical doctors with dubious legitimacy, scientists who experiment on themselves (?) and androids, so I’m curious to see who we’ll meet this time. Many players from the previous games who liked this style have felt that the developers often neglect this kingdom, unfortunately.
❄️Story and gameplay advice
Without spoiling the older games, I can say that, generally...
Most of the story is based on conflicts between different characters and sometimes different kingdoms. These problems, as mentioned before, are solved through styling battles.
Infinity Nikki seems to be going for a cozier vibe. However, both of its predecessors have sometimes gone into dark territories, featuring themes of war, violence, and betrayal. (I may or may not have cried over the death of a certain someone in Love Nikki...)
Therefore, dramatic things could very well happen in Infinity Nikki. I'm not saying that it can't be your comfort game if that is what you are hoping for, as the other games can still also be light, funny, and cozy. I just want to warn more sensitive players who might not be expecting it from a dress-up game.
When I first wrote this guide, I initially thought that the miracle outfits were like the "lifetime suits" of previous games, where crafting them was optional and not necessary to progress through the story. However, this seems not to be the case. Nevertheless, take your time while crafting them--there's no need to rush.
I'm not sure how f2p-friendly Infinity Nikki will be, but I haven't spent anything on either of the other games and I've been able to buy many of the suits I wanted. Just make sure that you budget accordingly and remember that if you want one suit but can't afford it at the time, another suit with a similar aesthetic might come out in the future. Also banners can re-run!
Keep an eye out for redeem codes! These are often posted by the game's social media, and you can get a lot of free stuff.
The fan-favorite kingdoms are usually Lilith/Ninir (Heartcraft) and Cloud (Lanling), followed by Pigeon (Twinmoon) and Apple (Starhail). The other three tend to get neglected, so if you like the sound of those the most, I'm sorry... :(
The last two sections include speculation, trivia, and an explanation of some inside jokes from the other games. Feel free to skip them if needed!
❄️Continuity and Fandom References to Other Nikki Games
Like I said earlier, the Nikki games can all work as standalone games, and the only returning characters are Nikki and Momo.
However, I've added this section to discuss possible theories and connections, as well as catch others up to speed on some of the inside jokes and characters that we Nikki veterans like to talk about.
If you keep hearing names like "Bobo," "Lunar," "Kimi," and "Nidhogg," these are characters from Love Nikki.
Bobo and Lunar are some of the first characters we met in LN. Kimi is the closest character we have to a canon love interest for Nikki. All of them are fan-favorites, so we're hoping to see any references to them in Infinity Nikki as well.
I can't say much about the very controversial and very popular Nidhogg without spoiling LN, but at least you now know where the name is from.
In Love Nikki, there is a "blood curse" that prevents people from using violence. Therefore, people often resolve conflicts by entering styling battles and destroying each other with the power of a good outfit.
Never ask a Love Nikki player what happened in Chapter 15.
Shining Nikki takes place roughly 700 years before Love Nikki, where there is no blood curse (which means certain people have managed to commit certain crimes...). Several SN characters are the ancestors of, or otherwise related to, LN characters.
Nikki veterans often like to make references to Ashley, Lilith (the person), Joy, and Qin Yi. These are all Shining Nikki characters.
So far, we haven't seen such a connection between old games and Infinity Nikki, so a lot of people suspect that this might be an alternate universe. When more about this version of Miraland is known, I might make another post.
❄️My predictions for future updates
Every time we enter a new country in Miraland, we will have new ability outfits to craft to fit the style of the new setting. This is because most of the outfits we have so far look like Lilith/Ninir suits in previous games, with very few influences from other nations.
The next country to be introduced will most likely be Lanling. I originally thought that they'd let us visit Lanling in time for Lunar New Year, but with the scope of the story, I think it may take some more time before that.
The next big update will be around Lunar New Year, where they'll probably hold some five-star banners, give free diamonds as a login event, and make a new short story, if they celebrate the same way as in Shining Nikki. They're probably also going to give us another free suit. (I hope it's Legend of the White Snake themed, since next year is Year of the Snake!)
Then, we'll probably see the equivalent of the Apple Federation, followed by Pigeon Kingdom.
We will get a new version of this stunning dress. It's called the Star Sea and has shown up in every game so far. I'm actually surprised we haven't heard about it in Infinity Nikki yet.
Tumblr media
Please let me know if this guide has been useful, and if there's other parts of the games you'd like me to cover!

Mama, I’m in love with a criminal 4
Tags: Sukuna x fem!Reader, prisoner!Sukuna, modern au, no curse au, dead dove, vivid descriptions of violence including murder and sexual assault, dark romance trope, angst, read at your own discretion
Synopsis: Sukuna is in prison because of you. He's ordered to undergo weekly counseling sessions. Talking to his counselor about you, it's apparent that his obsession with you is quite concerning.
An: Reminder, this story is dark. Take care of your mental health first. Sexual assault will be briefly mentioned, but it will not be written about in detail. Sukuna is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder at the end of this session. I want to make it clear that it is not my intention to offend anyone with this diagnosis or demonize this diagnosis. It is used to make him feel more real, and it furthers the plot. Hope you guys enjoy… only one last part after this one <3.
Session one. | Session two. | Session three. | Session four.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The counselor hadn't had time to do any more digging into Sukuna's case files this week. It was the end of the year β€” holidays were coming up, and that meant that annual paperwork on all of his patients were due.
His caseload was becoming too much to manage all on his own. He was thankful that the jail was finally consulting him about hiring a social worker to help out with the workload.
Checking Sukuna's chart briefly, the counselor inhaled sharply. It was finally time to talk about the crime that landed him in prison. Sure, the counselor could drag this out. He could talk about every petty theft or assault case Sukuna had been charged with, but those were pointless to talk about in the grand scheme of things.
As if on cue, a large buzzer sounded, and Sukuna was shoved into the room with the counselor before promptly being locked inside. He was shackled as always, but his demeanor was different today.
He didn't have that calloused grin or careless attitude. He sat down on the couch with a small grunt before immediately laying his head back against the piece of furniture. His throat bobbed as he swallowed harshly.
It was as if Sukuna knew what the counselor was going to bring up today.
"How are you holding up this week, Sukuna?" The counselor asked. Normally, they'd skip pleasantries, but the counselor sensed that Sukuna needed some priming before he got to talking.
"How am I holding up?" Sukuna echoed with a humorless laugh before shaking his head. "Don't ask stupid fucking questions. This is a prison not a 10 hour shift at a fucking factory."
Well, so much for priming.
"You don't want to talk about her today?" The counselor asked, tapping his pen against his paper. "Or is there something you're not wanting to relive."
"I can talk about her until my lungs give out." Sukuna muttered in a pained tone. He rubbed his face with his hands, cuffs clinking around in the process. He groaned as he put his hands down. "Tell me what you think I don't want to relive." He finally demanded, turning the tables on the counselor.
The counselor widened his eyes as he was put on the spot. He immediately avoided Sukuna's lifeless glare. He was definitely testing him right now β€” seeing if he kept up on his homework.
"You're not afraid of reliving your own pain. You don't want to relive mouse's pain." The counselor finally muttered out, using his knowledge of Sukuna to help guide him through his analysis.
Sukuna grunted in response, and the counselor took it as approval to keep going. "You weren't there to protect her. You feel like it's a failure on your end that what happened to her happened."
Sukuna's fists clenched, and his jaw tightened, but this didn't feel like his typical anger. It wasn't directed at anyone else besides himself.
"You got there a little too late. You saw what was happening to her, and you went into a blind rage. Your normal brutal, methodical, unique style to killing your victims went out the window. He needed to die right then, didn't he?" The counselor pressed on. He kept his hands on his lap to defend himself in case he said anything that teetered the line. Though, there really was no defending himself against Sukuna's hulking figure.
"He didn't deserve to live." Sukuna's voice was a low growl. His heart was pounding against his ribcage as he was reminded of his last moments with you before he incarceration.
The prisoner suddenly reached out, and the counselor flinched far back into his seat upon reflex, but Sukuna was faster. He grabbed the counselor by his dress shirt, and he patted around on his body. "I know you record these sessions, doc. I want this next part to be off the record." He demanded as he continually searched for a recording device.
The counselor tried fighting him off, but Sukuna was still stronger while he was handcuffed. "Fine-! Here! All you had to do was ask for this part to be off the record." The counselor shouted before he threw his pen over to Sukuna.
His pen had a secret recording device hidden inside, and it was promptly cut off when Sukuna snapped the pen in half without a second thought. He then threw it at the wall, ensuring that nothing would be listening in on what he was about to say.
Sitting back in his seat, he let out another stressed sigh. His twin brother's murder was a well kept secret thanks to his skills of covering up evidence, but this was his best kept secret. It physically pained him to say the words out loud.
"Mouse wanted a normal... domestic life, and I wanted to give her whatever she asked for. I started an apprenticeship at a tattoo shop, and I worked at a bike shop on the side so she could focus on figuring out what she wanted to do with life." He started off slowly. The counselor was still rattled from their physical altercation, but he was already enthralled by Sukuna's story telling abilities.
"I didn't care what I did as long as I got to be in her life. Coming home after sixteen hour shifts felt like paradise when I got to slide into bed next to her. She was the only piece of heaven that I'll ever see." Sukuna went on. His eyes were aimed at the broken pen in the corner, fully reliving what it was like to just be yours.
"Your tattoos... those came from your apprenticeship?" The counselor asked, finally taking the time to ask about the markings that covered Sukuna's body and face.
The prisoner looked at his arms and shook his head. "No, these came from over the years." He said as he slowly rose from the chair. He unbuttoned the jumpsuit and shoved it down around his waist to reveal a white undershirt that covered his broad, muscular torso.
Sukuna clearly had nothing else better to do other than work out while he was incarcerated.
The marking covered his neck, shoulders, arms, back, and chest. The counselor marveled at them for a minute, wondering how long Sukuna had to sit in a chair for all of them to be completed.
"As a gift for finishing my apprenticeship, Mouse and I got tattoos together." Sukuna explained before he raised his undershirt up. Right there on his right ribcage β€” a detailed portrait style tattoo of just your eyes stared back at the counselor.
Your eyes alone could tell a million words. They were gates directly to your soul. The counselor didn't know what you looked like. Your face had been scrubbed from every news outlet that reported on Sukuna's case, and the counselor couldn't remember if he saw your face in court or not.
"Does she have your eyes tattooed as well?" The counselor asked. It was the safer option because he was sure that Sukuna would probably kill him if he complimented your eyes.
"She had this-" he gestured to the tattoo that was placed on his forehead directly between his eyes, "tattooed on her back, and I tattooed my name across her ribcage in the same place I have her eyes tattooed." Sukuna explained before he redressed himself and sat back down.
"She also has a tiny mouse tattooed behind her ear. All of her work is done by me." He explained.
"Wait- You didn't come up with mouse on the spot?" The counselor asked. "That nickname actually has any meaning?"
Sukuna snickered from the counselor's assumptions. "Nah. When we were little and she wasn't talking to me yet, I use to tease her and say she was as quiet as a church mouse."
The counselor gave a small laugh, and he allowed for the silence to fill the room once more, signaling that Sukuna should get back on topic.
"I was working late most nights, and I told her it'd be worth it once I started making some real money. I just wanted to give her the life she never had. I could've provided her with peace." Sukuna explained, his eyes going back dull as all the fun was sucked right back out of the conversation.
"One night, she wanted to surprise me with my favorite dinner. I always told her not to go out alone at night. She usually waited for me to get off work if she needed to go to the store, but I guess she was worried about burdening me... foolish girl." He muttered as he stared down at his palms.
The counselor swallowed harshly, knowing what was coming next. He normally wasn't so emotionally invested in his client's lives, but Sukuna had a way of drawing him in. He was rooting for you even if he knew the result of what happened that night.
"She wasn't stupid though. Mouse was resourceful. She had a heart of gold, but she wasn't naive. She took one of my blade's with her, and she concealed it in her purse." Sukuna explained as his hands picked at the unhealed scabs on his knuckles once again.
"You don't have to go into detail. I'm honestly not sure if I could stomach that-" The counselor admitted. He knew it was unprofessional. He was supposed to be able to shoulder his clients' trauma, but he just didn't know if he could live with Sukuna's version of what happened to you.
"On her way home, that fucking... coward grabbed her. I don't- I don't know how far he got. She wouldn't tell me. I don't know if it was more for my sake or for hers." A shaky breath left his lips. He was grinding his teeth so hard that the counselor was even cringing.
"She managed to send me her location, and I immediately knew something was wrong. I just left the shop β€” didn't bother locking up or even telling my client where I was going. By the time I got there, my little mouse's clothes were ripped. She was a mess. He was laid out on the ground. The motherfucker died from a few stab wounds, how fucking pathetic."
"What." The counselor said as his jaw dropped. All this time, he was told that Sukuna was only caught because he killed your assailant in a crime of passion, but that wasn't the truth. He had never been baffled like this for his entire career.
"Mouse isn't some defenseless damsel in distress. You think I'd let her walk around if I hadn't taught her self defense?" Sukuna asked as he looked up at the counselor. His jaw was tight and his gaze was narrow. "I'd be damned if I let her walk around without anyway to defend herself after the shit that went down with her dad and his temper."
The counselor stayed silent. Everything he had thought about Sukuna's final murder had been a lie. He didn't kill the poor bastard out of a crime of passion. You had killed your attacker, and Sukuna took the fall for it.
Everything he had done thus far was to protect you β€” all of it. It was all for you.
"How did any of this end up pinned on you?" The counselor carefully asked while he was still trying to wrack his brain. A part of him wondered if Sukuna was lying, but there was no way Sukuna would lie and risk you getting into trouble for a crime that he committed.
"I have been involved in the justice system for so long. I know how crooked everything is. The district attorneys and judges aren't trying cases fairly and protecting the balance of the justice system. They're doing whatever they can to appease the politicians who have them in their back pockets. They'll sentence a serial rapist to 25 years in jail, but they'll sentence a woman defending herself from a rapist to life in jail. There's no justice in this system."
"I wasn't going to let that shit happen to mouse. I wasn't going to let her name be ruined because she defended herself and did what she had to do. I wasn't going to let her trauma be drug through court. She has so much ahead of her, and I-" Sukuna paused to take a ragged breath. It had been a long time since he had spewed out words so fast.
This was the first time he had ever been able to talk about this to anyone. Everyone fully believes that Sukuna happened to catch the guy assaulting you, and he killed him right then and there. No one knew that he hadn't been there to protect you. You had to resort to protecting yourself, and he fucking loathed the thought of you having to bear the weight of that sick son of a bitch's death on your shoulders.
For two years, he carried this weight around. It had been two years since he was sentenced. Two years since he last saw you.
He let a tear slip past his cheek. Just one -- he didn't bother to wipe it away. It was gone as soon as it had appeared.
"Take your time." The counselor murmured empathetically. This was a major break through with Sukuna. It was something that proved he wasn't a sociopath.
Sukuna could feel emotions. Perhaps, he felt them more than everyone else did. His anger was immediately rage. He was never just sad. Instead, he'd plummet into an unbeatable depression. His happiness felt like pure euphoria, and when he loved, he loved unconditionally hard.
He used you as an anchor for his tidal waves of emotions, basing them on how you acted β€” the girl who didn't speak and wore a mask around other people. You two were truly made for each other.
If soulmates existed, you two would be the leading example.
Sukuna took another ragged breath, taking just another second to collect his thoughts. "She has so much ahead of her, and I only had her." He managed to grit out.
"Before she could even think about trying to stop me, I ripped the gloves off that I had been using to tattoo my client. I grabbed the blade from her, and I stabbed him 32 times. I brutalized his body to make sure neither the coroner nor the forensic pathologist would be able to distinguish her stab wounds from my own." He explained solemnly. His eyes were void of any emotion while talking about what he did to your assaulter.
"The police were looking for anything to pin on me anyways. They always had thought I got off easy on my juvenile cases, and they suspected I had something to do with Jin's disappearance. They just couldn't prove anything. So, when this opportunity fell into their lap, they ran with it."
"Why didn't you try to hide the body to get away with it?" The counselor asked. Sukuna's crimes were those of cold calculation, and the fact that he made sure to strip off his gloves to taint the blade with his fingerprints proved that he was still very calculated with this murder as well.
"When he grabbed her-" Sukuna's fists tightened in his lap, "he pulled her into dark alleyway at the end of town. Bastard just thought he was going to assault her and leave her stranded in the alley- There was no way for me to move his body without being seen or caught on camera."
"I didn't try to argue when they came for me the next day. I would've willingly surrendered myself if it kept mouse out of trouble. They booked me into the county jail within hours, and I took a plea deal on my second court appearance." He explained as was back to picking at the scabs on his knuckles. They were likely never going to heal if he kept picking at them, making them bleed.
"Why didn't you go for a trial?" The counselor asked. There were ways for Sukuna to be proven not guilty. He probably would've qualified for at least a lesser charge of second degree murder or even manslaughter.
"I knew they'd try to subpoena mouse to testify. They'd drag up her trauma and make a spectacle of her in court. I wasn't going to let them try to convince her that what happened to her wasn't anything less than assault, and I wasn't going to let them retraumatize her." Sukuna spoke firmly, shaking his head.
The counselor honestly found it admirable of him. Most "Bonnie and Clyde" killers would actually turn on each other to get themselves out of trouble, but Sukuna would bear the weight of your crime on his shoulders, and he'd still find other ways to protect you from any negative consequence that he could.
"So, I took a plea deal. I plead guilty to the murder and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole with weekly 20-minute counseling sessions. In exchange, the district attorney made sure mouse's name was scrubbed from every court document, social media outlet, and news source. They had to act like she was in the witness protection program." Sukuna explained with a sigh. It was another way to protect you.
The counselor felt strangely empty. Sukuna's and your story was tragic. A boy who fell madly in love with a silent girl and vowed to protect her from anything. Did he belong in prison for this? Does this excuse him killing your dad? Did this excuse him slaughtering his own flesh and blood? How do they move on from here?
"You were a sensation in court... had your own little fanbase and everything." The counselor hollowly mused, remembering the young women that piled into the courtroom to catch a glimpse of Sukuna. They had idolized him for what he had done. Plus... he was handsome in the most sinful way possible.
Sukuna rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue with annoyance. "The same bitches who praised me for what I had done didn't respect what I was trying to protect. They're always trying to find and leak mouse's name to the public. They don't give a fuck about me or her. They just think our story is perfect for some shitty dark romance novel."
The room fell into a tense silence once more. Neither of the two men knew how to move on from this.
The silence was finally broken with a correctional officer's voice booming through the office. "Ryomen! Your time is up!" He shouted as his fist connected against the door multiple times.
The counselor sighed as Sukuna wordlessly rose from his seat. This session had been worse than either of them could've predicted. "Take care, Sukuna. We will not meet again next week due to the holidays, but I'll see you in two weeks."
The prisoner grunted in response while still walking towards the door. The loud buzzer filled the room once more, and he was let out.
It didn't feel right to watch Sukuna walk back to his pod. The justice system had failed you as a woman, but he was willing to shield you from any harm that threatened to come your way.
