HIMYM or How Andy Met Manon:
Chapter One: Hope Dies Last
This story is very unserious (until it isn't), some portrayals of canon characters might be exaggerated. Sorry not sorry. This is purely for fun.
Reid Van de Lune belongs to @kc-and-co, Mina Pendleton, who is briefly mentioned belongs to @lifeofkaze.
You can find all the chapters here.
The whole school was buzzing with excitement and rumours about the friendly visit from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang schools. It was announced a few days before that Hogwarts, once again, will be hosting representatives from both schools. The students were divided into the ones that couldn't wait for the visit and the ones that couldn't care less. Andy Adler represented the former, Hayden Jenkins - the latter. The breakfasts were starting to get really tough to get through with their different amounts of enthusiasm.
"You don't even know if she's going to be there." Hayden said, annoyed at his best friend.
"She is, I can feel it."
"You only saw her, like one time! She probably doesn't even remember you. You didn't even speak to her, I bet."
"Who doesn't remember him?"
Reid Van de Lune joined them, confused about what his friends were squabbling over this time.
"Some random french girl, Andy fantasies about since the last Beauxbatons visit. Three. Years. Ago."
"Her name was Manon!"
Haden brows furrowed. "How do you even know that?"
Andy's whole face melted into an adoring expression, and Hayden quickly regretted his question.
"The wind knocked off her hat in the Clock Tower Courtyard. I picked it up, and the name was embroidered on the inside."
"Don't tell me you kept the hat…"
"Of course not! I gave it back to her immediately. I looked into her eyes… Man, I wish her friends didn't start giggling and dragging her away with them."
"Woah," concluded Reid, "it's like, a scene from, like… a movie."
"Sure, if you're into psychological horror," Hayden scoffed.
Andy sighed, not giving up.
"Come on, don’t be like that! Help me out, I only need a few French lessons, and if she won't be there, it still couldn't hurt, right? Don't any of your fancy slytherin housemates know french?"
Hayden laughed almost honestly. "Maybe in the last century, they were fancy. Have you seen my roommates? Barnaby can barely handle English."
"Hayden."
"I mean, I guess Mina Pendleton, maybe?" He pointed at a blonde girl at the slytherin table, "But I'm not going to be the one talking to her."
"Why not?"
Hayden shuddered. "She intimidates me."
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE ALL OUT?!”
Virginia Scott’s angry voice carried through the Great Hall.
"Speaking of girls that are unapproachable…" Andy mumbled as their attention turned towards the end of their table.
“Exactly what I just said.” Jae Kim, the person her anger was directed at, didn't seem worried. “I’m out of all the firewhiskey, elder wine, in all honesty I don’t even have butterbeer at the moment.”
Gigi bit her tongue to avoid screaming at him again.
“And you’re only telling me this now?”
“You didn’t ask about anything specific when we talked last week. You know how fast these things sell around here.”
“I-“ she started but was immediately interrupted by the boy sitting next to her.
“So, how long would it take to execute our order?” asked Diego Caplan, pouring coffee into Gigi's cup in an attempt to calm her down.
“Depends.” he answered, looking suspiciously at the list laying on the table before him. “It’s a big order.”
Gigi sighed heavily and reached for her schoolbag in order to find her purse.
“Ever since you ripped me off on that divination chart you’ve become unbearable, Kim,” she said, handing him a couple of galleons.
Jae shrugged and shoved them into his pocket.
“I’ll talk to you soon.”
And with that he was gone.
"Dude, even since her and the hippie broke up she's been a walking nightmare."
"You mean more than usual?" Hayden chuckled. "No, you're right though, she's unbearable in normal circumstances, but this year is like if someone slipped the essence of insanity into her morning coffee."
"Duuude–" Reid almost choked on air, "what if there was like, a potion that would make you totally speak another language?"
"That would be… perfect actually!" Andy jumped up in his seat. "Is there one?"
Reid suddenly became very serious.
"Do I have an obsession with potions and a head full of blond hair?"
"No…?"
"Then how should I know, I'm not Penny Haywood."
Hayden tuned out their conversation as someone tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around to see two girls he vaguely recognised as fifth year slytherin students. They both were awfully giddy for a Monday morning.
"Sorry, you're Hayden Jenkins, right?"
"The one and only, how can I help you?"
"Well, we just wanted to say that we can't wait to see your band play at the party this Saturday."
"My… band?"
They nodded their heads energetically, and before he could ask more questions, they sprinted out of the Great Hall giggling.
He turned back to his friends completely dumbfounded.
"Snails," Reid said as if he just discovered a new spell.
"Reid that's… I mean it won't hurt to try, we should go anyway if we want to hit the greenhouse before the lessons start."
They gathered their things and stood up.
"Mate, you coming?"
"No, go ahead, I have to take care of something first."
"Suit yourself," Andy shrugged and they were already out of the door.
Hayden also didn't stay at his spot. He had business to take care of at the end of the table. He passed Diego Caplan on his way to the evil witch, and Hayden could swear the Hufflepuff mouthed "good luck" to him.
Virginia Scott was fixing her nails, seemingly unbothered, but Hayden knew her well enough to know that she was still angry about the encounter from before. Her feelings were the least of his concerns at the moment, though.
"Hayden, this is not the best time, darling," she said before he even spoke.
"Don't worry, I just have one little question for you."
She put down the nail file and looked up at him, raising her eyebrows as if she really wanted to hear it.
“Why am I finding out from some random fifth year that not only I have a band but also that I'm going to play with it at your party?”
“Oh, I actually wanted to talk to you about this. I need you to play at my party.”
“Gigi."
“Yes Hayden?”
“I don’t have a band.”
“I’m sure you can figure something out, darling.”
Hayden sighed, immediately regretting not going to the greenhouse with his friends. He could use a smoke right now, after all.

🎆Happy New Year!!!🎆
A new year begins, and on 3 January it will be a year since I posted my first post on Tumblr.
I, whose only 'fandom' activity consisted of modestly reading, commenting and posting on AO3, have discovered some wonderful artists and writers here.
Thanks to some of your fan art/screenshots, I got interested in Hogwarts Legacy before I even played it, and in particular Ominis Gaunt, who had a special place in my mind in 2023. Which wasn't in my plans, to be honest. Despite that, I feel like I got involved in HL fandom a bit too late...😅
I also feel like I've read fewer fanfics than in previous years but I've enjoyed every one of them. I hope that my comments have expressed my appreciation of your work, even if I've rarely interacted in a more personal way, because even though I like sharing with others, I'm also quite reserved by nature. (The first step is the hardest! 😅)
In addition, this year I have published around 100,000 words in total on AO3, while trying to break my cycle of imposter syndrome - with some slowing down at the end of 2023 due to personal difficulties that I don't wish to go into here. But I hope to reach the end of my Wips during 2024.💪
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to take an interest in my modest fanworks, despite my very slow publication rate. 💕Your support has been a blessing!
Thanks again to all the creators whose contributions to the fandom have brightened my days... and nights! 😅
Finally, I'd like to wish you all a happy new year in 2024, and hope happiness accompanies your every step!

Hold Back the River | Sebastian Sallow x Reader
A/N: Hogwarts Legacy has gutted me—so here’s some angst!
Warnings: Major and minor character death, spoilers, family trauma, mentions of murder, angst, little fluff
London, England, 1880
Growing up in London, you had been witness to countless losses. When you were only five years of age, your dearest grandmother had passed away. Your mother had told you that there were to be no tears, as to not upset your father.
As you watched her coffin lower into the ground, you reminded yourself not to cry, no matter how much it stung to hold it in. You held on tightly to a small tan teddy bear, burying your face in its fur as the first bit of ground was flung over the the wooden top.
Your mother slipped her hand out of your grasp, now rubbing circles into your fathers back as he stared down at the grave.
A frown spread over your lips at the lack of your mother’s warmth, and you tugged on her skirt, “Mum?”
She shushed you, causing your bottom lip to pucker, your eyes already watering.
Frustrated with your behavior, she kneeled down in front of you, whispering, “What did I say about the tears, Y/N? Dry them up, darling.”
You didn’t think she had meant to be so cruel towards you—after all, she had to support her daughter and grieving husband through this loss while barely processing it on your own. But telling a child to hide their emotions was the last thing she should have done.
For the next decade, you held in your tears, blinking them away. Tears were for the weak, and you were far from that.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Scotland, 1890
Mariam Fig’s wand rested in her late husband’s grasp, finally returned to the hands of a man who had spent his whole life loving her.
The room was so silent that you would’ve been able to hear a pin drop, if not for the sounds of your shaky breaths. You desperately blinked back your tears, your hand placed atop your dear Professor’s.
It was Professor Weasley who pulled you away from his body, asking Professor Garlick to return you to Hogwarts. She’d do it herself, she had explained, but she had business to attend to regarding Fig’s death.
Professor Garlick took your hand, apparating back to Hogwarts.
She looked at you, offering a sympathetic smile, “Oh, Miss L/N… Is there anything I can do for you?”
“I need to… I need to go.”
“Are you sure it’s wise for you to be alone? You look unwell. I’m sure I have something here to help…” She trailed off, eyes wandering the room.
“I’d rather be alone, Professor,” You said, “Please.”
She nodded, “If you need anything, please let me know. All of Hogwarts has you to thank for what you did today.”
You walked out of the classroom, making a beeline to the entrance to the Undercroft. It was late when you arrived, and you assumed that it was empty—and the only place you could go to truly be alone. Deek would have too many questions if you were to go to the Room or Requirement—and you didn’t think you were in the position to face anyone.
Checking to make sure no one was around, you entered the Undercroft, a sinking feeling in your eyes met Sebastian’s.
He gazed up at you, taking in the pain written all over your face, your bloodshot eyes, and the cuts littering your body.
Practically jumping to his feet, he stepped towards you, “What in Merlin’s name happened to you?”
You closed your eyes, biting down on your quivering bottom lip, shaking your head, “‘m fine.”
Sebastian stepped closer to you, his thumb swiping around your brow, wiping the blood away, “You’re bleeding, Y/N.”
You could barely breathe—feeling the weight of his death all around you. It should have been you, not him.
“Come sit, please,” He said, gesturing towards a stone bench.
But you took once step and fell to your knees on the ground, still trying to blink the tears away and fight the cries that tried to escape your throat.
Sebastian lowered himself onto the floor beside you, leaning against the wall and pulling you beside him. Resting your head against his chest, you fought to steady your breathing.
“Y/N?”
Looking up at him, he continued, “You know it’s okay to cry, right?”
That’s when the dam broke inside of you, and all the tears you had been holding back let loose: losing your grandmother, saying goodbye to your family when you were accepting into Hogwarts just after your fifteenth birthday, watching Sebastian fall into the dark arts—and now, losing the man who treated you as his own.
Leaning into Sebastian, his grip on you tightened, tangling his hand through your hair.
The two of you stayed like that for what felt like eternity.
To Sebastian’s surprise, it was you who broke the silence, still tangled in his arms, “Professor Fig—he’s dead.”
He nodded, a few tears of his own rolling down his cheeks, “He was a good man.”
“Look, Y/N,” Sebastian continued, “When you’re ready to talk about it, I’m here, alright? Just say the word and I’ll be there. If you never want to talk about it, that’s okay, too. I know I haven’t been the greatest of friends lately—and I’m sorry. I should’ve been there for you.”
“There’s a lot of things you should’ve done, Sebastian,” You said, your voice just above a whisper, “And there’s a lot of things you shouldn’t have.”
Sebastian looked like someone had just kicked his Puffeskein at your words, his grip on you loosening ever so slightly.
Looking up at him, you leaned into whisper in his ear, “It’s okay to cry, Sebastian.”
And oh, how he cried. And oh, how you joined him.
You had always hated seeing him upset, and this was no different.
The two of you had both lost someone in the past week—and both of you blamed yourselves.
Solomon was murdered—yes, but Sebastian was scared. Scared that his uncle would allow his sister to go to an early grave and scared that his uncle wouldn’t stop hurting you. He would do anything to protect you—he just didn’t realize how far he had taken things until after he was gazing down at his uncle’s lifeless body. He was still a kid, unsure of his place in the world. And he had just committed an act of murder. Just lost his sister and his best friend. You were all he had left and he had pushed you away.
Then there was you: who had just lost someone you idolized. He took you under his wing during your time at Hogwarts and you could never thank him enough. But now he was gone and your heart was broken.
Your hand found his cheek and you turned his tear-stained face towards yourself, “I’ve said too many goodbyes, Sebastian. I don’t believe I’ll ever be ready to say one to you.”
He was already lost in your eyes again, something that happened more often than he’d like to admit.
“Don’t pull away from me—don’t pull away. Promise me.”
He nodded his head, and you gripped the back of his head, “Promise me.”
“Y/N…”
“Promise me!” You cried, searching his eyes for something—anything.
“I promise.”
That’s when your lips crashed onto his—months of holding back finally unleashed. You loved him, and he loved you. But neither of you were willing to tell the other out of fear that you’d ruin your friendship.
But after losing those close to you, there wasn’t a day you wanted to spend regretting.
You and Sebastian would take every day one step at a time—living each day to the fullest. Because you weren’t ready to say goodbye yet, and neither was he.

Hi! I love all of your harry potter writing!! I was wondering if maybe you could do something thats one of the slytherin guys (theo preferably) with a hufflepuff girl reader and just a tonnn of angst? like a happy ending but just a good amount of angst lol (maybe hes mean to her or smtg - or like he is just to keep up an appearance in front of his slytherin friends??) idk lol
ANGST IS MY FORTE.
BACK TO THE START. theodore nott
IN WHICH… theodore nott is dating the perfect girl, yet prefers to keep her hidden from his friends.
“Some boys take a beautiful girl and hide her away from the rest of the world.”
Warnings/notes : angst (duh, it’s me), matteo riddle and his dumb jokes, illusion to mature content, panic attack, astoria x draco mentioned, pansy x blaise mentioned
—
A/N : thank you so much for the request and the kind comment!
Being a Slytherin was hard. Being part of the popular cliche was even worse. It wasn’t hard for Theodore Nott to blend in with his crowd. He was rich, a little bit crazy when he drank, and as all of them were, an asshole to an extent.
Theo had his life all planned out; get sorted into Slytherin, check. Join the popular group, check. Date another rich Slytherin girl who he’d only use for reputation, not checked. That last point was an important part of his life plan but, as if the universe intentionally wanted to screw him over, his gaze was constantly stuck on a Hufflepuff.
Y/N L/N wasn’t all too bad. She was pretty (or gorgeous as Theo liked to mentally describe her), rich enough, and had a big reputation in school and outside. She should have been Theo’s ideal type if she wasn’t draped in that damn yellow uniform.
Nevertheless, Theo was smitten by her. He talked to her in secret, wanting to avoid his friends’ shifty eyes and gossip. They’d no doubt tell his parents that he was talking to a Hufflepuff of all people. But, at least she wasn’t in Gryffindor.
He kept her hidden from the world, which he knew she hated but what else could he do?
“Theo.” Y/N called out in the empty hallway. She had her books clutched closely to her chest, scared they’d drop. Theo passed, his heart slightly sinking.
How was he supposed to tell Y/N, his secret girlfriend, that he still wanted to remain a secret despite promising her otherwise? Theo didn’t have the time to even think about it before he heard loud chatter that could only be his friends.
“Theo!” Pansy exclaimed, jogging towards him. She didn’t even notice Y/N, pushing past the H/C-haired girl without a word. “You have to try Enzo’s batch of cookies! He’s actually getting good at baking after last month’s incident.”
Theo lightly chuckled before he remembered Y/N was still here. She was looking at him like she expected him to do something. He quickly brushed past Pansy. He could feel his friends staring daggers into his back, all curious as to what he was doing.
“I told you I don’t want to go out with you. Leave me alone, Hufflepuff.” Theo wasn’t half-bad at acting after all the times he had to pretend to brush Y/N off for the sake of his friends. He subtly leaned forward, “I can’t be weak around my friends, Y/N. You understand, right? I’ll tell them soon.”
It was ironic how Theo made the first move yet never revealed his relationship with Y/N.
“Yeah… sure.” Y/N whispered.
Theo quickly walked away, catching up with his friends. “What was that?” Astoria questioned as she hooked arms with Theo to quicken his pace.
“Just another lovesick girl.” Theo uttered, loud enough for Y/N to hear. He didn’t even spare her a glance as he walked away, breaking yet another empty promise.
“Isn’t that the same girl from two weeks ago?” Pansy asked.
“They all look the same to me.” His words, fake or not, always left Y/N wondering what was wrong with their relationship. She was a good girlfriend so why was Theo always acting so embarrassed of her? Was he ashamed of her?
Theo told her every time that he’d make their relationship public but he never did, too scared of what his parents and companions would think.
What a coward.
Y/N arrived in the Great Hall and immediately slumped into her usual seat beside her friends. “Hi.” She casually greeted them.
“Boyfriend troubles again?” One of her friends, Cerci, asked.
They all knew Y/N was dating someone from Slytherin, but she never told them his name. They didn’t doubt her, there were plenty of other Slytherin guys who would have asked Y/N out if it wasn’t for Theo.
“He keeps saying he’ll tell his friends but he never does. And it drags on for months. I can’t stand it anymore.” Y/N stabbed her breakfast with her fork and sighed.
“Just break up.” Alice, another girl, piped up. Cerci elbowed her.
“You can’t just say that, Alice. You know this topic is sensitive to Y/N.”
“I’m just saying. If he treats her so wrong, why not just break up?”
The pair begun to bicker, as always. There was never a dull moment with Cerci and Alice around. Y/N’s eyes shifted to Theo, who was trying to shake Astoria off his arm. He succeeded, but spilled pumpkin juice on his blazer.
Matteo immediately burst into laughter that could be heard even at the Hufflepuff table. Alice and Cerci seemed to notice the commotion.
“Nott and Greengrass are at it again.” Alice sighed. “You know, there’s a rumor going around that they’re dating.”
Cerci scoffed. “No way. Greengrass likes Malfoy, everybody knows that. And besides, I saw Nott with some H/C-haired girl and they seemed pretty close.”
Y/N quickly lifted her head, lips parted. “What?” She asked. “You saw Theo with someone?”
Cerci scrunched up her eyebrows. “Since when did you start calling him Theo?”
“We were paired up for potions last year. Old habit, sorry.” Y/N quickly lied through her teeth.
Theo was a master at hiding things, even his girlfriend, but not good enough to avoid Cerci’s watchful eye.
“Nott’s handsome, I guess, but have you seen Riddle? Too bad he’s a player.” Alice mumbled before taking a sip from her goblet.
Cerci snickered. “And an idiot. He asked me if the color orange came before the fruit. Everyone knows it’s the color.”
“No. It’s the fruit.” Alice immediately backfired. “Thats like asking if the chicken came before the egg. Which, by the way, was the chicken because of evolution.”
“Where did the chicken come from then? It needs to come from an egg.”
Y/N could only slump in her seat once more as her friends argued about trivial matters that she didn’t care about.
“Woah. What did I miss on my bathroom break?” Esme, the last member of their closely knit friend group, returned. She readjusted her blouse as she sat next to Y/N, stealing a grape from Cerci’s plate.
“Y/N’s having relationship problems with her little boyfriend. Any advice?” Cerci uttered through mouthfuls of food.
“And how does that relate to your argument about chickens and oranges?” Esme raised an eyebrow.
“What came first? The chicken or the egg?” Alice asked, leaning forward to know Esme’s opinion on the matter.
Esme sighed, quickly rolling her eyes. “Oh, not this again. It doesn’t matter. Shouldn’t we be focusing on Y/N right now?”
Alice and Cerci exchanged a glance before looking back at Y/N.
Esme sighed. “You two are useless sometimes. Y/N, if you don’t want to be secret anymore, confront him about it. It’s not fair to you if he keeps you hidden.”
Y/N pressed her lips into a thin line before sparing another look at Theo. “Yeah, I’ll try.” She murmured, resting her cheek in the palm of her hand.
—
Y/N spent all day thinking about what to do. Either she could confront Theo, which seemed like the obvious choice, or let him walk all over her. As much as she wanted to choose the first option, she was still an empath and wanted to see what was burdening Theo so much.
It was in potions, one of Y/N’s unexpectedly best classes, when Matteo Riddle surprisingly approached her. “L/N, right?” The handsome boy asked, leaning forward onto her desk. Y/N’s eyes darted to Theo, whose jaw was tightly clenched.
“Uh… yes.” Y/N muttered, lightly clearing her throat.
“I hear you’re good at potions. You wouldn’t mind tutoring me, right? I’ll make sure to give you a special treat after.” Matteo winked with a stupid boyish grin on his face that Y/N would’ve found charming if Theo didn’t exist.
“Back it up, Matteo.” Theo interrupted, placing a hand on his friend’s shoulder and forcing Matteo to take a step back. Y/N’s heart jumped and she subconsciously sat up straighter in her chair. She tried to smile at Theo, anything to catch his wavering attention, but it was fruitless. The next words that rolled off Theo’s tongue stunned Y/N. “You know better than to be associating with low-life, Hufflepuff trash.”
Y/N’s smile immediately dropped. She could feel Theo’s apologetic gaze on her but his words cut deep. Theo left Y/N to sit with Pansy, who had been watching the whole thing with furrowed eyebrows.
“He’s joking.” Matteo tried to cover for his friend. Out of all the Slytherin boys, Y/N had expected for Matteo to be the meanest. But here he was, trying to lighten the mood with a Hufflepuff of all people.
“Right.” Y/N whispered, blinking away tears. If Theo were anybody else, maybe a random classmate she barely acknowledged, then his words wouldn’t have hit so deep. But he was her boyfriend.
Theodore Nott was the same boy who secretly showed up to every quidditch practice when Y/N had been on the team. He was the same sweet boy who aimlessly followed Y/N around the school when she was nothing but his crush, asking to hold her books. Since when had Y/N been the one chasing after him?
Y/N subtly packed her things away with the intention of skipping class to rewatch The Notebook or any other film that would lift her spirit.
Barely anybody noticed her slipping out of the classroom. She almost bumped into Professor Snape, who had been walking in at the same time. After seeing her glassy eyes and shaking hands, Snape let her past with a nod of acknowledgment.
“I expect you to catch up, Miss L/N. Complete page two hundred and twenty three.” Snape uttered.
“Yes, professor.” She weakly replied back.
She was walking to the bathrooms, head lowered and trying to hold back tears, when someone grasped her shoulder and spun her around. Y/N let out a loud gasp of surprise before a hand covered her mouth and she was dragged into an empty classroom.
“Whatever you think I did, I didn’t do!” Y/N exclaimed as she screwed her eyes shut and held her hands up. “I swear I didn’t steal your pet snake! When will you let it go?!” After hearing nothing but silence, she opened one eye. “Oh… it’s you, Theo.”
She was slightly glad it was only him and not the strange boy from two months ago who was sure Y/N stole his pet snake. He went to extreme lengths to try and prove it.
“First I’ve heard of that pet snake. We’ll go back to that later because I’m curious.” Theo placed his hands on Y/N’s shoulders. “Y/N, you know I love you.” Of course she knew that. It was hard to miss when Theo would mutter the same three words between every hidden, breathless kiss. “My parents and even friends expect a lot from me and I can’t go around just telling people I’m dating a Hufflepuff.”
Theo said Y/N’s house like it was a derogatory term.
“Are you breaking up with me?” She asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
“What? No.” Theo was at a loss for words. Y/N truly was his whole world but letting both Y/N and his Pureblood life collide was a recipe for disaster.
“Really? Because this sounds like a breakup speech.” Y/N retorted. A few tears slid down her cheeks and Theo was quick to wipe them away.
“I’m not breaking up with you. I just need you to understand what I’m doing.”
Y/N didn’t know if she could ever understand his reasons. They were all so bizarre and could be easily solved through telling the truth. A sudden wave of confidence drew over Y/N.
“I don’t understand, Theo. You always reassure me that you’ll tell your friends about us but you never do. And sometimes you’re mean to me just to save your reputation. You showed interest first, you talked to me first. You initiated everything first, so why are you trying to pretend like you didn’t? Matteo Riddle out of all people had the heart to comfort me while you walked away. You’re supposed to be nice to me, Theo, that’s your job as my boyfriend.”
Theo never once interrupted her, knowing he was in the wrong. “I’m sorry.” Was all he could muster.
“I don’t want an apology. I want you to tell your friends.”
Theo sighed. “You know I can’t… you know I need to keep up my appearance.”
“Is losing me not reason enough?”
“Don’t make me choose, Y/N.” Theo shook his head. “Please. You know how important my reputation is.”
Y/N slowly grasped Theo’s hands, intertwining their fingers for a moment before dropping them. “If you can’t choose, I’ll decide for you. I don’t want to be a secret anymore, Theo, and it’s clear that you won’t give up your reputation. So keep your reputation and I’ll see myself out.”
“No, Y/N, please.” Theodore Nott was above begging but he’d get down on his knees and plead for Y/N to stay. “I can’t do this without you. I need you. Please. Y/N.”
He watched as she picked up her bag, sparing Theo one more look over her shoulder. “Sorry, Theo. It’s for the best.” She brushed past the door, gently closing it behind her. Theo slumped into a seat behind him, his elbows resting on his knees and his hands gripping his face.
What had he done?
He felt stupid now for not mustering up the courage to tell his friends about Y/N. His leg bounced up and down as he regretted every mean word he spoke to Y/N in an attempt to cover up their relationship. She didn’t deserve that. She was the kindest girl he knew, always giving others a helping hand.
He gripped his shirt, nails digging into the skin beneath the thin fabric. Theo could feel his heart beating at an abnormal rate but it wouldn’t stop no matter how many desperate deep breaths he inhaled.
The room suddenly felt too small and Theo felt claustrophobic, a feeling he had never experienced before. The world was flashing before his eyes with every ragged breath he took.
“Y/N, please don’t go.” He whispered despite knowing she was already long gone by now. He wrapped his arms around himself, shaking. “Don’t go.” He repeated as an attempt to comfort himself. He harshly tugged at his hair, cursing at himself for being so stupid as to letting Y/N go.
He should have tried harder. He should have done everything she asked. He only had his reputation to worry about, but at what cost?
With his head hanging low, he made his way back towards his dorm, trusting his friends would bring his supplies back. He collapsed onto his bed, feeling numb. He was a little bit angry that Y/N broke it off so casually without much tears. Was he not worth it? He suddenly realized how Y/N felt, having to watch your lover walk away like nothing happened.
—
The days following the breakup were gloomy, and that was an understatement. Theo realized early that Y/N was much better at masking her feelings behind a fake facade of happiness than him. He spent every free hour wallowing in self-pity, hoping to catch another glimpse of Y/N like the good old days where he didn’t care about his relationship.
“Theo.” Pansy waved a hand in front of Theo’s face. He scowled, not wanting to go through another rant of how Blaise refused to make the first move. She sat beside him on the green couch, handing him a bottle of alcohol. It was the end of the term, and as always the Slytherin house decided to host a large party. Anybody was invited, unless your name was Harry Potter.
Draco had gone as far in their petty rivalry to hang up a sign at the entrance, stating “no Potters”allowed. He spelled Potter wrong at first, spelling it as pottery, which resulted in the Weasley twins bringing in jars of clay pottery. Theo quietly laughed at that.
“How’s your girl?” Pansy asked as she took a sip from her can of lemonade vodka.
“We broke up. She had enough of me- wait.” Theo quickly turned his head to stare at Pansy, “How do you know about Y/N?”
Pansy simply shrugged with a grin stretching across her lips. “Your words are convincing, Theo, but I’ve known you for a while. Did you really think I wouldn’t notice you sneaking off and coming back with lipstick marks?”
Theo’s head hung low. “It doesn’t matter now. She’s done with me and vice versa.” He swirled his drink around before taking a gulp.
“You’re stupid, you know.” Pansy spoke up, “If you liked her so much, you shouldn’t have let her go.”
“I had no choice.”
“You had a choice. The door for you was wide open. You just never stepped inside, too scared of others’ opinions.”
“I’m a Pureblood. I can’t be dating a Hufflepuff girl.”
“You’re a boy, Theo. Three years from now, nobody will care that you dated a Hufflepuff.”
“I’ll care!” Theo exclaimed over the loud blaring music. Pansy didn’t flinch, only staring at him with a mix of pity and annoyance. “My parents expect me to marry a Slytherin girl.”
“You sacrificed your girlfriend for something your parents told you ten years ago?” Pansy was judging him now with a hardened stare. “Be careful how you treat girls, Theo. One day, you’ll realize the possibility of losing her is very much real.”
Pansy subtly pointed behind Theo. He glanced over his shoulder, his wandering gaze immediately spotting Y/N. Her friend, Alice, had an arm hooked around her while a boy was trying to hold a conversation.
“Do what you want, Theo. But if you don’t act fast, you’ll lose her for good.” Pansy stood up to retrieve another drink.
Theo, with his heart beating too fast to be healthy, jumped to his feet and pushed past the crowd. He didn’t know what he was going to do or what he was even going to say but he was determined to shove the other boy away.
Blaise was standing with Matteo on the other side of the room, holding a microphone. A dumb idea struck Theo, which he knew he was going to regret the moment he stepped onto that stage.
Y/N’s eyes lit up as she saw Theo walking through the crowd, scowling at anybody in his way. He caught her gaze and for a second she thought he was going to willingly talk to her in front of his peers. But he walked straight past, his shoulder lightly brushing hers.
Y/N deflated, all hope of having a second chance with Theo disappearing. Until she heard the microphone screech and the music abruptly stopped.
She didn’t have to turn to know who was interrupting the party. She heard his voice and immediately knew
“I’m going to fucking regret this. Matteo, shut your mouth or I’ll throw you out the window.” Theo said, glaring at his friend. He sighed before continuing. “I had a girlfriend.”
Some of the crowd lightly gasped, not expecting Hogwarts resident playboy to start his announcement off with that.
“She was sweet, and kind, and all I could ask for. But I cared more about what my family and friends thought so I lost her. I always promised her that I’d tell my friends about us but I never did so I’m doing it now. I don’t expect her to forgive me.” Theo glanced at Y/N who was already staring at him with her head tilted to the side slightly. “But I owe it to her.”
“Hurry up, man!” Someone shouted, “This is boring!”
“I’ll throw you into the black lake so it’s not boring!” Theo aggressively yelled back. “All I’m trying to say is that I had a girlfriend who wasn’t a Slytherin like most people expected. I was head over heels for a Hufflepuff.”
Theo didn’t hesitate to expose his secret. After years of stating he’d date a Slytherin to anybody who would listen, he ended up with a Hufflepuff instead of one of his lovesick Slytherin fangirls.
"Theo, man, I wanna get back to drinking. Are you done?!" Matteo yelled, cupping his hands over his mouth.
"Matteo, I'm done when I'm done! Y/N L/N is the girl I'm head over heels for, okay?! I forced her to keep our relationship hidden, and I will always regret that. She is smart, beautiful, and kind and if I had a chance to do it all over again, I would announce to the whole world that we were dating! After we broke up, I didn’t want anything else but to talk to her again. So I drew her over and over again and my mind was focused on only her.”
Matteo snickered from the side of the stage. “Dude.” He said, almost judging Theo for being so vulnerable.
“Shut up, you banged a Gryffindor girl then cried when she said it was nothing but a hookup. Don’t pretend like I didn’t see you sobbing and eating ice cream in the kitchen.” Theo wittily retorted.
That silenced Matteo.
“I don’t understand why as a Slytherin, I have to date another Slytherin. I can be happy with a Hufflepuff too, whoever I date doesn’t alter my way of living. Now I'm done, go get drunk, Matteo!" Theo shoved the microphone into Matteo's hands, glaring at him.
Theo found Y/N with Alice, who was intensely questioning the H/C-haired girl. “When were you going to tell me the Theodore Nott was your boyfriend?!” Alice yelled as she shook Y/N by the shoulders. "Were you ever going to tell us?!"
"Ex-boyfriend." Y/N quickly corrected her friend.
"Secret admirer, actually. Like old times." Theo butted in, standing behind Y/N with his hands shoved into his pockets. “I’m not demanding you to forgive me, Y/N.”
He kneeled down, gripping onto Y/N’s hands like his life depended on it. He had seen enough romance movies with Y/N to get the hint of what kind of guy she wanted.
“From now on, no more secrets. I don’t care if you never take me back, all I need is for you to look in my direction again. Let’s start over, Y/N.”
—
The school was buzzing with gossip after last night’s party, the word of Y/N and Theo’s relationship spreading fast.
“Is it true?” Hermione asked, leaning forward. “Were you really dating Theodore Nott?” Y/N silently smiled, sick of all the questions she was receiving. At least it was her last class for the day, she could return to her dorm after and sleep.
Y/N was the first out of the door when class ended. She turned down an empty hallway, a shortcut she would always take with Theo when she was too lazy to hike through the large castle.
“Hey, Y/N, right?” Someone questioned.
Y/N looked over her shoulder, half-expecting another guy to shoot his shot after hearing the news about her and Theo. Instead, it was actually Theo.
“I’m Theodore Nott, nice to meet you again.”
Y/N stared at his outstretched hand before slowly shaking it. “Nice to see you too, Theo. Where are you heading?”
“To the kitchen to bake some cookies with a certain beautiful girl. Would you care to tag along?”
When Theo said he wanted to start over, Y/N didn’t know he’d take it to the very beginning.
“What kind of cookies?” She asked as they walked through the hallway, hands linked.
“Your favourite along with a cup of coffee while you study herbology. Just like old times.”

⛧༺ NO BODY, NO CRIME ༻⛧
EPISODE 01: dinner and a glass of wine
pairing: theo nott x potter!reader
summary: the christmas holidays have just begun, but still a threatening atmosphere lies in the air and suddenly, you find yourself at a crime scene
warnings: extremely big trigger warning for the whole series, in this chapter: mentions of blood, a corpse, (small) jump-scare
note: hello guys, welcome to the first episode of no body, no crime!! i’m so excited for this series and hope you enjoy it as much as i do!! the next episode is coming out next monday!! let me know what you think in the comments <333
the soft tunes of christmas music filled the air around you. the great hall was less filled than normal, most of the students deciding to go home for the holidays.
"can you pass me the potatoes, please?" ron's red hair was illuminated by the soft glow of the fairylights behind him. the auburn sweater he was wearing was highlighting the contrast even more.
"here" hermione said, holding the bowl across the table, as ron eagerly grabbed it.
"where's ginny?" harry muttered. he had his nose buried in a book about quidditch techniques you had bought in hogsmeade. he had been busy studying it all night, but apparently not busy enough to not notice ginny's absence.
"she's sitting with luna" you pointed out, as your eyes glided along the slytherin table. ginny and her had grown closer since the beginning of the year and you had to admit that you had quickly taken a liking to the blonde girl. she was a bit strange, admittedly, but lovely none the less.
"she's been busy all year" ron muttered, mouth filled to the brim. "seems like we've gotten too boring for her"
"allow your sister to have her own friends" hermione shoke her head. "and for gods sake, please close your mouth, ronald."
despite the approaching festivity, the atmosphere in the hall was eerie. maybe because only a few people were sitting at eachs house table, making the hall seem weirdly out of place.
the slytherin table was by far the emptiest. probably because most purblooded and traditional wizard families made a hail mary out of everything that would allow a party, showing off their wealth and status.
the only thing that contradicted this assumption was that several children from the most influential pureblood families had chosen to stay. your gaze swept across the table, taking in each one in turn.
draco malfoy, displaying a usual attitude of displeasurement. you guessed that the malfoys weren't the people to listen to christmas music around the holidays.
next to him, blaise zabini, who was munching on a mouth full portion of potatoes just like ron was.
across from them and her back facing the rest of the hall, including your line of sight, pansy parkinson. her perfect cut bob of black hair moving slightly everytime she turned her head to the side, as she attentively listened to what draco was telling her.
a few feet away, mattheo riddle and lorenzo berkshire were quietly discussing something. it looked somewhat urgent, as both of them leaned over the table top, and not even mattheo, whose face you could see, wore his usual smirk.
just before you were able to wonder about his absence, you noticed theo nott walk into the hall. he looked just like always, messy curls falling onto his forehead, dark circles under his eyes and that face, that made every thought in your head disappear.
not that you liked any of them, but theo had always been your favorite. he was a true slytherin. cunning, loyal and determined. even though he had reason enough, there was no arrogant bone in his body.
you had liked him from the first time you had talked to him last year, when snape had coupled you up for a potions project. he had not even been as pretentious as you had thought he was, considering he was always hanging around malfoy.
but theo was nice, actually nice.
"hello?" ron's voice was so sudden, you knocked over the cup of pumpkin juice beside you.
hermione cleaned the juice off of the table with a simple flick of her wand, as she rolled her eyes at your distractedness.
"what?" you wondered.
"the cookies, please?" ron smiled and your expression turned sour when you noticed the pieces of potatoe stuck between his teeth.
you nodded nonetheless and grabbed the plate of decorated christmas cookies. you took one for yourself, a delicious looking christmas tree, before you planted the whole plate in front of ron, knowing that he was gonna take one cookie after the other anyway.
"i think we're good company" harry said, and while you weren't exactly sure what he was talking about, you nodded.
"obviously we are"
"i mean, she could've brought luna along, right?" he closed the quidditch book with a thud and crossed his arms.
"ehh" you muttered. you were saved by the loud sound of the door, that flew open and revealed professor burbage. she walked up to the teachers table in a hurry, quickly excusing her late arrival, before she sat down next to dumbledore.
you noticed the look of worry on her face and wondered what she was thinking about.
“what’s gotten into her?” hermione asked and you were glad someone else had noticed the professor’s strange behaviour.
“everyone is stressed around christmas, right?” ron muttered without an ounce of interest.
“i’m sure that’s it” harry nodded, glad that he could now shift the conversation back to it’s initial topic. “so, about ginny—“
“you’re mentioning her an awful lot, harry” you joked, enjoying how your brother’s face lost all it’s colour and his eyes darted between ron and you quickly. ron hadn’t even noticed the implication, if he had even listened to you in the first place.
you could read the boredom from the redheads face as he rearranged the cookie plate, until it showed a little scene with a christmas tree, huge presents and two happy gingerbread men.
you tuned the conversation out too, as harry continued to speak. you decided that it was hermiones turn to listen now.
you rather turned your head to look at theo once more, who looked up at the very same time, probably feeling eyes on him. but he didn’t look in your direction, but to the teachers table. you furrowed your brows, before you followed his line of sight, your eyes ultimately landing on professor burbage. she looked just as worried as before, as she hectically looked between theo and something clutched in her hand.
you looked back to theo, who simply rolled his eyes, averting his gaze from the teacher and focusing back on the untouched food beside him. draco muttered something in theo’s direction and the latter barely reacted, managing only a weak smile, before his focus was gone again.
you sighed, deciding you had spent enough time with your friends to leave without feeling bad. “i think i’m gonna head to bed” you smiled, standing up.
“oh” hermione simply noted. “should i accompany you?”
you shook your head, “i’ll be fine”. her offer was nice, but you wanted to be alone for some time. it was especially during times like these, that you most missed what other people had: a real family. you still had harry and your friends, but it was different from what you sometimes wished for.
“i’ll see you guys tomorrow” you waved. ron, mouth filled to the brim, only waved back to your relief and harry nodded, muttering something about a game of chess ginny had promised.
you headed out of the hall just a mere second later, pulling your sweater over your head, that you had taken off in the hall, because of the brizzling warmth of the fireplace at your back. you took the usual route to the tower. it was the place you often spend time at whenever you wanted to be alone.
the stairs creaked loudly beneath each step you took, indicating how old the whole structure was. you walked across the wooden beams, leaning your body over the railing as you breathed in the cold of the air and your eyes wandered across the snow beneath you.
it was so calm up here, so silent.. until. the wood creaked loudly, indicating steps coming up towards you. your heart began beating faster, debating who could be coming up here. you had never ran across someone else at the tower.
maybe it was harry? you stepped closer to the stairs, expecting your brothers dark and messy hair to peak from the entrance, but it wasn’t harry who then stepped onto the plattform across from you.
“hey” theo nott muttered, hands pushed into the pockets of his pants while he looked at you with an unreadable expression on his face.
“hey” you said, just as neutral. you tried to act casual, as he walked closer and you followed him back to the middle of the plattform, awkwardly standing next to each other.
theo fished out a cigarette from his pocket. “is this okay?” he asked, pointing between the two of you.
you furrowed your brows, confused what he was talking about, before you realized that he was probably asking about your permission to keep you company. “sure” you nodded and the lightened his cigarette.
“you smoke?” he asked, holding the burning cigarette in your direction as if to offer you a blow.
you shoke your head, although you had to admit that it was intruiging to take a drag when a boy with such blue eyes was the one offering it.
“do you come here often?” you asked softly, deciding it was more awkward to just stare at him in silence.
“sometimes” theo shrugged. “they get exhausting, my friends i mean”
“yeah, mine too” you nodded.
“wouldn’t have held you for a person that particuarly likes to be alone” theo muttered, before he turned his head, blowing the smoke out from his lips, without it hitting you. you appreciated the gesture.
“it gets too much, sometimes” you shrugged. “i don’t mind to be alone”
“then you probably mind my company, huh?” he smirked, looking into your eyes with a deep kind of sincerity.
“not at all” you shook your head, mirroring the smirk on his lips. “although i would prefer malfoy”
“oh shut up” theo laughed, his eyes glistening, almost surprised at the sudden joke. you felt proud that you had made him laugh, even if you had to mention malfoy.
“i’m so sincere right now” you giggled, both of you not believing a word you were saying.
theo threw down his cigarette, stomping on it, before he let it disappear with a flick of his wand. he looked up at you and opened his mouth, about to return a witty remark, when a loud bang rang out.
you both froze at the sound, the laughter abruptly cut off as the echo of the bang bounced off the stone walls. the great hall felt miles away in that moment, and the air thickened with tension. theo’s playful demeanor vanished, replaced by a look of concern.
“what was that?” you whispered, instinctively taking a step closer to him. the sudden shift from light-hearted banter to fear sent a shiver down your spine.
“the door” theo muttered in recognition. the tower was right on top of the entryway to the castle. now that you thought about it, the bang did sound awfully like a heavy door falling close.
“who would even go out there now?” you wondered, your heart still beating fast as the shock settled into your features.
“i don’t know” theo stepped away and closer to the staircase. “are you coming or what?”
you quickly nodded, as you followed him back down and through the corridor, before you froze in front of the door.
“maybe it was the wind” you suggested, though the tremor in your voice betrayed your uncertainty.
theo raised an eyebrow, a hint of skepticism dancing in his gaze. “you really believe that?” he asked, crossing his arms over his chest, his posture relaxed but his expression alert.
“well, it’s possible,” you replied, though you didn’t sound convinced. the notion felt flimsy in the wake of the unsettling noise, and the creeping feeling of dread wasn’t fading.
“possible, sure,” he replied, “but it sounded too loud for the wind. we need to check it out. it could be something... important.”
your heart raced again, this time from a mix of fear and curiosity. “important? like what?” you asked, biting your lip.
“i don’t know,” he admitted, glancing back at the heavy wooden door. “but don’t you think we should at least look? it might be someone in trouble.”
you hesitated, looking back down the corridor where you could see flickers of light from the torches along the walls. “but what if it’s something dangerous?” you countered, feeling a rush of apprehension.
“better to know than to wonder,” he said, his tone serious yet gentle. there was a spark of determination in his eyes, and you found yourself drawn to his confidence. despite the risk, the thought of turning back felt more frightening than facing whatever lay beyond the door.
theo looked back at you once more, before he sighed and nodded, pushing the heavy door open. what revealed itself was the dark of the night, as snow fell into the entrance you were standing in, quickly cooling your face.
“it’s too dark” theo noted. both of you took out your wands, using lumos to light the way. theo urged you to follow him. the snowfall was so heavy, that even the light of your wands did almost nothing.
theo was just a few steps beside you, when you felt it. “theo” you whispered, as your body and heart froze simultaneously. “theo” you repeated, a bit louder. you could see the light of theo’s wand come closer again. he had heard you.
“are you alright?”
you shook your head, what he probably couldn’t see. you could only make out his body. “there is something there”
“what do you mean?”
“i’m feeling it against my foot” you muttered. “there is something on the ground. i’ll have to come closer to make out what it is”
“be careful” theo held you hand to stabilize your body, as you kneeled down, moving the light of your wand across the object on the ground in front of you. it was dark, black robes, hiding something beneath them. but you just couldn’t make out what it was.
then suddenly, you gasped in shock. your light glided over a face, mouth, nose dripping blood. wide eyes, opened in terror as they stared at you unmoving. you screamed, falling back into the snow, as theo surged forward, trying to catch you.
“y/n!” he called, panic rising in his voice as you struggled to breathe, your heart racing wildly “what’s wrong? what is it?”
“professor burbage” you muttered, over and over again.
“what?” theo leaned in closer, still holding onto you, his face drained of color.
“she’s dead!” you choked out, voice trembling, eyes fixed on the professor’s face, still staring up at you, frozen in her final moment of horror.
you heard theo gasp, his own breath faltering for a moment as he processed what lay before you both. without another word, he pulled you to your feet, wrapping an arm around you to support your shaking body. “we have to go,” he muttered, his voice tight with fear. with one hand, he held his wand forward, the dim light flickering in the swirling snow, while the other held onto you as you stumbled back toward the door.
the last thing you saw as the heavy door closed behind you was professor burbage’s body, half-buried in the snow, her lifeless eyes still staring, as if warning you of something far worse to come.

H.P boyfriend! head cannons
[masterlist]
————-
- smitten from day one.
- his hands would always get clammy in yours (you didn’t mind)
- his smile could make you do anything he wanted.
- he often would ask for a kiss in return for things
- mostly for grabbing something just out of reach or a kiss for a kiss tbh
- when he was nervous he’d rub his shoes together, he was finicky
- but when you were the nervous one all of his anxiety would leave automatically. he could do anything if it was for you
- he hated how other boys would look at you, often grabbing your hand abruptly in public
- you’d always find time to clean his glasses
- that boy never took care of them
- love notes. always
- found in your pockets or shoes. soemtimes with just a h surrounded by a heart or long prolific notes about how he missed you.
- you’d do anything to sneak into each others dorms to cuddle.
- he wasn’t one to skip class, but you’d beg him to sleep in even for a little
- anytime you’d have lotion you’d rub the excess on his calloused hands, almost ritualistic between you two.
- he loved the smell of your lotion on his skin throughout the day
- he’d never tell you, but he would daydream of a life with you if he was just a regular wizard.
- he wished he didn’t have this popularity around your name and hated that it now coincided with you.
- -constantly worried for your safety
you once jokingly called him your husband and it stuck. new pet name unlocked.
- “anything for my wife” he would say in hushed tones
————
ANYWAYSSSS he would be so special

Hi there! I absolutely love the short write-up you did for Oliver Wood. <3
Would it be possible to request a short fic of Oliver Wood x Reader (other House) reuniting during the Battle of Hogwarts when they went back to fight, after having previously dated for a short time while they were schooling but broke up probably due to differences in priorities? Like they haven’t seen each other much since the break up and then graduating but seeing each other again made them want to give it another try. Thank you!!
So sorry I'm getting to this late, hope you like it!
Oliver Wood was a Hogwarts prodigy. Everyone knew his name alongside James Potter and Charlie Weasley's; they were the Quidditch Gods of the magical school. The names Regulus Black, Lily Evans and Y/N L/N were also quite famous, but for different reasons. The geniuses, students who soon after their time at Hogwarts became published witches and wizards for their incredible discoveries and talent.
That was one of the main reasons your relationship with Oliver Wood was so short-lived. You both had extreme talents, but they led you in opposite directions, only tugging you both further and further away from each other. Whilst you worked on magical discoveries that went beyond your education at Hogwarts, becoming known as one of the greatest witches of your time, Oliver worked relentlessly to fuel his passion for his sport which would build his career, his future. It only made the few months you spent together during your last year at Hogwarts unpleasant, the love you held for each other being over-powered by ambition, which led to the inevitable break up that shook all your friends, for they thought you would remain together forever, carrying out the legacy of being the one couple that would make it past their Hogwarts days.
Alas, that did not happen.
Instead, your magical discoveries were written and taught in the few years you had developed them and were the main source of protection for all the students who had decided not to fight the war, seeking shelter in the dungeons of the castle. Finally, what feels like days later, you're muttering the counter active spell, the hand holding your wand shaking with the trauma of the war you had just endured. When the protective force field finally breaks apart, you whisper the password to the Slytherin Common room. The portrait swings open and immediately the room falls silent. You announce that Voldemort's dead and spin around, heading into the direction you had just come from. You didn't want the reactions; The good, the bad or the dirty.
You wipe some blood from the side of your face, only to notice that the fabric of your long sleeved top doesn't soak up the liquid fast enough, and that you're bleeding quite heavily. Despite trying to stay calm, you begin to pant, tears blurring your vision, but you don't let them spill, not when you're so close to the Great Hall, where someone will have time to clean you up. Unfortunately, the way you immediately collapse onto a bench alerts more than just one person, and you suddenly have what feels like an audience crowding you. "Hey, hey, give her some space." The voice is familiar to you, but you just can't put your finger on who it is. "Y/N? Can you tell me your date of birth?"
The hand holding your face is gentle, and you can barely feel the tingle of the healing spell against the side of your face, which you take as a good sign. "You know my name." You recognise, slowly blinking. "Hey Y/N try keeping your eyes open for me, okay? Get me someone with skills here!" The demand goes to someone else, but it seems that those are the only words you're able to process. "So I take it I don't look so good?" Your words come out slurred and you feel your body slumping against something, or rather someone.
Oliver has resorted to being your own personal pillow. He didn't want you to look like one of the dead bodies, laying down still on the benches of the Great Hall, which has now become both a morgue and an infirmary. The spell he did on your wound worked, but he had one of the 7th Years going into healing fix you up and get some more blood into you to make up for what you lost. He felt your body sway against his and was immediately alert, even as you gathered balance to sit up on your own. He gave you time to process your surroundings, looking down at his feet instead. It was only when you cried "Oliver!" That he averted his gaze back to you.
"Y/N" He smiled, relieved that there was some colour in your face. You seemed confused yet surprised, putting together what had happened. "I haven't seen you in... A long time. How- are you hurt?" He laughed at your maternal instincts kicking in and shook his head at you. "No, Y/N, you got hurt. You were bleeding from your head and I just barely fixed you up." A look of realisation dawned on your face. "That was you? I... Well I feel bad now."
Oliver shook his head again, an awkward silence settling over the conversation. It was you to break the silence, stating "Well, I hear you're doing well now. I watched one of your games recently, you played nice." Oliver's eyes widened and he grinned, cocking his head to the side. "I can say the same about you, Ms. Published three books. And since when did you get into Quidditch?" It was your turn to act surprised now, retorting with "I've always liked Quidditch, I just didn't used to be into it. And you know, I wanted to see what was so special about Mr. Wood's Keeper skills here." Your eyes scanned the Hall around you, and the smile on your face slowly drops. As Oliver followed your eye-line, his did too.
"You didn't? You know, lose anyone important, did you?" You ask, now sounding a lot more empathetic. "Well I almost lost you for a second there." You glance over at Oliver and smile genuinely, matching the softness in his eyes. "Let me get you home safely. Everyone's already left." You nod at his words, using his arm as a support system for you to stand. You feel his muscles contract underneath you and look back up at him.
Despite the dirt and blood that freckles his face, he looks peaceful. He looks like someone you could find peace in.

-----
As Hogwarts came to another start, Severus Snape found himself sitted once again in the great hall with the insufferable children in front of him.
The war has ended, and two years have passed since his close call with death. He wished it had ended that way, though; he really has no clue what faith has put in on him again.
Nothing out of the ordinary has changed in two years, except well the dark lord being defeated and him being awarded the Merlins honor for his sacrifices, along with the Pince riches and manor named after him. He scowled at that house, and he couldn't fathom the idea of living in it, so he stayed in his humble home at the end of Spinners End.
There was a new addition to the staff, though. Professor Y/N/L, you teach the subject he has been eyeing for quite some time now, DADA.
McGonagall hired you last year, with recommendations from Hermoine of course. She has placed good words for you, complimenting how you had helped her with advocating elf rights and how you have helped Harry in defeating scoundrels of the wizarding world as an auror.
There was something unique about you, too. You didn't graduate from Hogwarts like Hermoine or Harry; you graduated from the far east. To be exact you graduated with golden robes from Mahoutokoro Wizarding School Japan.
Everyone was giddy when McGonagall introduced you in the great hall. You were wearing your golden robes, depicting your Mahoutokoro origin. You probably were the same age as Severus (having graduated from Mahoutokoro in 1971, a year early due to your exceptional skills). Severus was the least giddy, though; he despised the fact you took the spot to his dream position.
He took your presence as a challenge, and he cannot wait to embarrass you in front of the students if you ever asked for a sample duel.
And that day did came.
On October 2, 2000, you knocked on his classroom door in the middle of his potions class. You slowly peeked your head at his dungeon door and smiled at him.
Oh, how he despised your bright smile.
"Hello, Professor Snape, " you greeted as you kept your body behind the door.
Severus raised a brow and enveloped himself with his black robe. "Professor Y/L, what a pleasure to have your presence," his voice like a hoarse rumble of thunder. Nagini's bite wasn't too kind to him after the years. It pains him to speak, but he has gotten used to it now.
"Well..." you muttered under your breath as you entered his classroom. The eyes of his students are on you but are back on their cauldrons as soon as Severus slams a notebook to one table.
"Is it alright to ask you to come with me for a sample duel?" the words rolled out your mouth, startled by the sudden burst of noise that echoed throughout room.
Severus smirked slightly. 'It was his time to shine,' he thought as he pulled his sleeves up and crossed his arms. "I suppose after class?"
You nodded with a smile and gave him the details of what time the duel would be held before thanking him as you left.
Severus curtly nods at you, a welcome, I suppose, or more of a thank you. As soon as you left, he swiftly turned around and walked straight to his desk. Severus had a genuine smile plastered on his face, his thoughts running wild on how he could embarrass you infront of your students. He felt victorious even with his thoughts.
Some of his students saw this smile and were terrified by it. He's gone mad.
------ (Duel ends)
Severus was in disbelief. Shocked, totaled, bamboozled, whatever it is you name that depicts a man who just lost his wits AND WAND!
He stood there dumbfounded as you gripped his wand with your hand.
You hit him with a successful expelliarmus at what felt like 2 minutes of exchanging spells!
"Now, children, expelliarmus is a spell you do to take an opponent's wand. Using it wisely, along with other spells exchanged by me and Professor Snape, is one way to win a duel or to pass your OWLS and NEWTS," you exclaimed, walking towards Severus and handing him his wand.
You called out names of students to watch them duel. Severus walked down the duel table, his demeanor unchanged and cold, but his insides were in turmoil. He had just been defeated, infront of her and her students.
You patted his back, which made him even tad furious at how he just lost that duel. How good were you to be able to defeat him? Has he lost his talent in duelling? Is he perhaps aging too fast?
"You did well, professor. Don't be too harsh on yourself, " you said as you watched your students duel.
He glared down at you, only his eyes moving as he scoffed. 'unbelievable,' he thought. He lost to a little midget like you.
He had to do something about this humiliation. With that, he scurried away from you and into the dungeons, preparing himself from the daily torment of the memory of losing from you.
-----(Your POV before he left)
Severus stood beside you as you two stepped down the duel table.
You had caught him at his most unexpected moment and effortlessly defeated him in the duel. You were a gifted dueller, after all.
As you watched your students duel, you looked up to see Severus with his usual cold demeanor. However, as you looked down at his hands, you could see how he gripped his hands. You smiled warmly at the thought of him even thinking about this moment more than once in the future.
"You did well, professor. Don't be too harsh on yourself," you said as you watched your students duel. You hear him scoff at you before twirling dramatically around and leaving.
You smile at that, and as you hear the door close shut, you stop your student's duel and end the class for the day.
A few days have passed since your duel with Severus, and he has been avoiding you since then. You felt it since he was always following you around before, and it's not that you don't like it. You actually do.
You've liked him since the day you arrived; you've always had a thing for dark, dramatic, gothic men, and he was the spite image of that.
You've always tried to start a conversation with him, to which he either scoffs or replies a bit dryly. You don't blame him, that scar in his neck must've hurt.
As you walk the open hallways of Hogwarts, passing by and greeting students, you see his familiar silhouette. He was walking away from you a bit too fast for his normal phase. You smile at this and tried following him to where he was going.
-----(Back to Severus POV)
Severus has been dreaming about you. Silly encantation, you must have placed some sort of spell on him while in duel, he concluded to himself.
His dreams started with you kissing him on his lips at first to you straddling his lap. He'd wake up with beads of sweat all over his body despite the cold temperatures of the dungeons where his chamber was. There was a constant tent on his blanket too! He despised you even more when you've become an apparent dream of his.
It has been almost two months now since the duel. Severus has been avoiding you since, embarrassed from the duel and ashamed of the silly dreams he's been having. He can't believe he's been dreaming of you, LIKE THAT TOO?!
December 15, 2000. He decided to walk Hogwart's open corridors to get some breather. He had to do something with you, scold you for coming to his mind, his dreams, his nightmares, his... His everything.
He shook his head, no way. NO WAY he has feelings for you. NO WAY.
As he turned the corner and walked even faster, he sees you being greeted by students. His body tensing up, as he quickly eyes you head to toe.
It's been days since he last saw you, and you were as marvelous as you looked from the last. Your hair tied up in a messy bun, your golden robe over your dark blue wizard clothes beautifully insinuating your figure, and oh... Your smile. He hated that bright smile, but he blushed every time you gave him that smile.
He quickly turned around and swiftly walked away from you. Walked? He RAN.
He never felt like this, not even with Lily. He felt like a schoolgirl running away from the sight of their crush. Jeez, he really needed to man up sometimes.
"Professor Snape!" he heard you exclaim. He paused in his tracks. Shit.
He turns around to see you walking towards him, with that darn smile again.
"Professor," he mutters, trying to compose himself. Hopefully his not showing much emotions or blushing. His cheeks felt hot though, darn it.
"Would you like to go to Yule Ball with me?" you asked sweetly.
Severus was frozen. He never thought he'd ever be asked to go to Yule Ball. Not even as a professor.
He looks at you with narrowed eyes. "And why would I say yes to that?" his voice sultry and rough.
You smiled again, he's going to have a heart attack anytime soon, he could feel it.
"Well... You could always say no. I wouldn't mind asking Professor Fin-"
"Nonsense, you can never dance with such a tiny man. It'd be best if you dance with me, by practicality ofcourse" he grunts in a way that flowed out of his mouth.
You laughed, which made Severus's heart do cartwheels.
"That's settled then." as you turn around and leave.
Severus was yet again left in shock. Did he just agree to dance with you at the Yule Ball?
He slammed his palm to his forehead. Now he is just being your lap dog. He has no choice now but to actually dance with you.
The woman who defeated him in duel. The woman who took his spot in DADA. The woman from the east who Severus never met before. The woman... He currently has feelings for.
He smiles. Atleast he knows now why faith has kept him alive.

SANTA, TELL ME. draco malfoy
( master list )
IN WHICH… Draco Malfoy no longer enjoys Christmas, especially not when he has to stay at Hogwarts while all his friends are gone. But a certain bright-eyed Hufflepuff is glad to keep him company.
( draco x hufflepuff! reader )
“Santa, tell me if he really cares. ‘Cause I can’t give it all away if he won’t be here next year.”
—
Draco couldn’t remember when he had started to dislike Christmas. Maybe it was during his second year when he had to stay at Hogwarts for the winter and ever since then, he was required to do the same every year.
Draco mindlessly stared at the wrapped gifts his parents had sent him early. The cold Slytherin room was empty, everybody but Draco at home with their families.
The blond teenager was curled up on the soft couch, listening to the fire crackle and watching as the logs burned. Having had enough of wallowing in self pity, Draco slipped into a thick blazer and walked out of the common room.
He wandered around the halls, the sound of loud and joyful laughter catching his attention. He peeked out of the window, his nose slightly wrinkling when he saw Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. They were with two other girls that weren’t that annoying know-it-all, Hermione Granger.
Draco recognized one of them as Y/N L/N, a Hufflepuff who was unusually good at potions. The other girl was a dark-haired Ravenclaw with a stern beauty that contrasted Y/N’s soft features.
The group of four were playing in the snow, throwing it at each other and laughing when their noses turned red from the cold.
Y/N wore her yellow scarf which sorely clashed with her tight blue and white striped blouse, greyish-brown skirt, and puffy white jacket. She seemed to have fleece lined tights on because she wasn’t shivering.
Draco tore his eyes away from the happy friends and frowned. Even with his companions, they were never that carefree. But how Draco wished they could be. It must be great not having to worry about your every move and who you were friends with, who you liked, and who you were going to marry.
In a way, he envied Y/N. She was a pureblood brought up by muggle parents with no harsh expectations or demands.
On paper, she was a sacred pure but in every Slytherin’s eyes, she would always be an outcast. She was at every prestigious party in her bright and stunning yellow dresses, effortlessly sticking out like a sore thumb.
Draco released a sigh and ran a hand through his blond hair. He didn’t know what to do with Blaise and all his other friends gone. He had heard Nott was going on a trip to Paris. Wonderful.
Pansy was going to Italy.
Crabbe and Goyle were planning to visit a famous restaurant in London.
Millicent Bulstrode was going to New York.
And Matteo… the poor son of Lord Voldemort was stuck in the same orphanage his father had landed in decades ago. In the same room too.
Draco walked with no destination in mind until he ended up at the front gates of Hogwarts. He looked up, staring as the snowflakes dropped. Slowly, he stepped forward into the thick snow. He sank down into it and the cold offered a strange sense of comfort.
He had not been planning to go outside so he was wrongly dressed. Draco shivered slightly as the snow landed on his pale face. His cheeks were flushed red and his hands felt frozen. He wouldn’t be surprised if they were.
“You’re going to catch a cold.”
Draco hadn’t even noticed Y/N approaching him, her scarf in her hand. “If you plan to stay outside,” She uttered, trying to hand him the yellow clothing, “At least wear this.”
Draco looked her up and down, wondering why she was even talking to him. All he did was bully her friends, at least the ones in Gryffindor. Draco and his posse seemed to leave everybody else alone.
“You helped me last month. So I’m returning the favor.” Y/N brightly smiled and Draco felt his face heat up, much to his dismay.
Draco thought for a moment before he realized what Y/N was talking about. It was true, he had helped her but only because that boy who was trying to flirt with Y/N was making a fool of Slytherin and he didn’t approve of making girls uncomfortable.
“Ah.” Draco murmured, staring down at the scarf. He slowly reached out to grab it. “He deserved it.”
“Matteo punched him.” Y/N piped up, reminding Draco of what had happened. Yes, Matteo had punched the idiotic boy while Draco stood on the sidelines, merely watching. “His nose started bleeding. I’m all for defending people but was that necessary?”
“He’s done it before. Matteo only wanted to teach him a lesson. Sexual harassment is no joke. That boy has tried peeking up girl’s skirts so my statement still stands. He deserved it.” Draco uttered it more firmly this time.
“Where is Matteo anyway?” Y/N looked around, trying to catch a glimpse of the brunette boy. “I thought he would’ve stayed behind.”
“I’m not sure why he went back to the orphanage.” Draco wasn’t the best at small talk, especially not with friendly people. But Y/N didn’t seem to notice as she rambled on.
She was relatively good friends with Matteo. She was one of the few who could get away with talking to him and not receiving a glare in return.
“He told me he was staying behind but maybe he didn’t want to be alone again, since he assumed you were leaving too. He kind of envies you and your family trips. He’s envious because you actually have a family.” Y/N paused, slowly covering her mouth. “Ah… I wasn’t supposed to tell you that… sorry.”
She lifted her head, locking gazes with Draco. “You’ll… keep this between us, right?” She sheepishly smiled, “I swear I don’t usually spill people’s secrets…”
Draco shrugged. “I wouldn’t be able to do much with that information anyway.” The blond hair turned around to walk away, but he realized he was still holding Y/N’s scarf. “I changed my mind. I’m going back inside. I assume you’ll be staying out here for a while so take this back. We don’t want you to freeze.”
Draco wrapped Y/N’s scarf around her neck, nodding. There was a slither of a smile on his lips before he spun around and strutted off.
“Why were you talking with Malfoy?” Harry approached Y/N as soon as Draco left.
She hummed in surprise and slightly jumped. “What? Oh. He’s not so bad. He’s actually… somewhat nice.”
Harry scoffed and rolled his emerald green eyes. “Malfoy? Nice? As if. Anyway, we’re going to walk around the pine woods. Wanna join?”
Y/N shook her head and beamed. “No. I’m good. I’m a little tired so I’ll see you inside.” Harry smiled back at her before jogging over to Ron and Anna, the Ravenclaw girl.
Y/N pushed past the large wooden doors, walking back into the warmth of the Hogwarts castle. The fire in the Great Hall crackled as Y/N entered, intent on warming her hands. But she found Draco standing in front of the Christmas tree, staring at it in wonder and awe and sadness.
“It’s pretty, isn’t it?” Y/N snuck up behind Draco, startling him.
“Jeez! Merlin’s sake, L/N, don’t sneak up on me like that!” Draco stormed out of the Great Hall while Y/N poured and huffed.
“Hmph. What’s his problem? He was fine before.” She shook her head in annoyance as she warmed her freezing body by the fireplace. “Slytherins really are bipolar…”
Though, Y/N couldn’t help but feel sorry for Draco. She knew he was the only one in the common room because Matteo had told her everybody always went home. Pansy confirmed it.
Y/N and Pansy weren’t close but they had worked on a group project together and for along relatively well. Unbeknownst to Y/N, Pansy tried her best to hate the kind Hufflepuff but she never could.
Y/N could hear footsteps approaching the hall and assuming it was Harry, Y/N didn’t turn around. She should’ve because as soon as she caught sight of blond hair in a reflection, she knew it was Draco.
“Come to yell at me some more?” She asked, a joking tone to her question.
“You helped decorate the Great Hall, right?” Draco inquired, getting straight to the point.
“Yeah, I guess so. Why?”
“I need you to decorate the Slytherin common room.” Draco held up a pouch of money, “I’m willing to pay.”
Y/N glanced at him as he jingled the coins. She shrugged. “Nah. I’ll do it for free. Let’s go!” She linked arms with Draco and dragged him to the supply closet where the extra decorations were being been kept.
“Why do I need to help you?” Draco grumbled as Y/N shoved the boxes into his arms. She huffed.
“What? You think I could carry all this by myself? Hey,” She poked Draco’s shoulder, “There’s things even I can’t do alone. Besides, you’re strong. Use it for something helpful.”
Y/N turned away, which relieved Draco because he refused to let her see his flushed cheeks.
“Wow, it really isn’t decorated at all. That’s surprising, especially on Christmas Eve. The Hufflepuff common room is almost too shiny with all the tinsel.” Y/N looked around the Slytherin Chamber in disappointment. At least they had their Christmas tree up, though it was a very sad and bland one. She frowned. “How do you guys live like this?”
“I helped you carry the boxes. I trust you’ll be able to do the rest.” Draco dropped the boxes full of decorations and hurried off.
“Huh? Wait! You don’t expect me to do it alone! I need to socialise! I’ll die if I don’t talk to people!”
Draco slammed his dorm door shut, making Y/N sigh. “He’s only nice when Matteo is around.” She mumbled, “Does he have a crush on him or something? I wouldn’t be surprised. He keeps turning down girls, even Pansy. And she’s gorgeous.”
Y/N sorted through all the tinsel, sighing. “I suppose if I were a boy, I’d go for Pansy. Or Hermione. Maybe Luna?” She picked all the green tinsel strings, making sure to leave every single red-colored one in the box.
“Daphne Greengrass or whatever her name is would be a good choice too.” Y/N uttered as she wrapped the green tinsel around the stair rail. “Hm, who else? Ah! Cho Chang! Cedric sure is lucky to be dating her. I’m almost jealous!”
Y/N sighed as she hung ornaments on the lonely Christmas tree. “Ginny would also be on the list I guess. She’s a total badass. Why won’t Harry notice her? If I were him, I’d fall in love instantly.”
She checked fireplace, and made sure to add some more wood to the flames to keep them ignited. “Pansy, Hermione, Luna, Daphne, Cho, and Ginny. A strong lineup. What about the boys? Matteo is handsome but I only see him as a friend. Lorenzo I would get with. Cedric? Maybe. Oliver? Yes. Dating Harry or Ron would be a little weird so maybe not. Besides, I ship Hermione and Ron.”
This went on for quite some time. Y/N had made amazing progress while talking to herself. The chamber was almost unrecognisable. Draco, who was cooped up in his room, clenched his jaw. He was covering his ears, trying to ignore Y/N’s annoying rambling.
But she kept talking. Over and over again. About useless topics too. Finally, Draco had enough. He pulled open his door and was about to yell something until he heard Y/N mention his name.
“Draco? Hm… I don’t know. Am I supposed to call him Malfoy? I feel like we’re on relatively good terms. Would I date him? A solid maybe. He’s so handsome but he’s a little bipolar. If only he was a little nicer. I wouldn’t mind kissing him.”
Draco slowly lifted his head, hanging onto every word Y/N spoke. If he was a little nicer… she’d kiss him?
“I’m going out. The room looks great. Thanks, Y/N.” Draco hurriedly grabbed her hand, pressing an innocent kiss to her knuckles before he hurried off.
“Did he… just say thank you?” Y/N huffed in disbelief. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard his say that.” She looked at her hand, still able to feel the ghost of Draco’s lips against her skin.
Draco had never been a nice person from the start but he figured the way to Y/N’s heart was to get on neutral terms with Potter.
Speaking of the devil, Draco could see Harry, Ron, and Anna walking into the castle.
“Morning, Potter.” Draco uttered as he passed the trio, trying his best not to scowl. “And Weasley and, I’m sorry, I don’t know your last name but I like your black hair.”
Once Draco was out of earshot, Ron and Harry shared a disturbed look. “Was he… poisoned or something?” Ron asked, “I prefer when Malfoy’s mean! It’s scary when he’s nice.”
“Hey, guys!” Y/N jogged towards her friends, wildly waving at them. “Have you guys seen Draco?”
“Yeah. He went that way. But he was acting super weird. What did you say to him to make him greet us and tell Anna he likes her hair.” Ron scoffed, “Or did you slip a potion into his drink?”
“Huh? I didn’t say anything!” Y/N exclaimed. She paused. “Oh… well, I did say I would kiss him if he was a little nicer. But I was talking to myself.”
“Bloody hell, Y/N.” Harry uttered. “Malfoy probably fancies you.”
“What?” Y/N tilted her head to the side.
“If you think about it, it makes sense.” Anna retorted. “I mean, he’s always trying to talk to you. He doesn’t bully you and he seems to stay away from bullying your friends as well. I mean, Harry and Ron and ‘Mione excluded.”
Y/N sighed. “That doesn’t prove anything. Do you know where he went? I need to ask him about the decorations. I’m decorating the Slytherin chamber.”
“He walked outside. Probably to Hogsmeade to go on a shopping spree for himself.” Ron quietly scoffed.
“Tell me if you see him, ‘kay?”
“Yeah, sure.”
Y/N walked back to the chamber, staring at the work she had done. The Slytherin common room looked much more comforting and welcoming now. She smiled proudly, placing her hands on her hips.
“Looks good, Y/N.” She happily high-fived herself. Y/N sat down on the couch, slightly slouching. She waved her wand around while mumbling a small charm, smiling as snowflakes floated around.
Hours eventually passed and Draco still hadn’t returned. Y/N had finished decorating and she had refurbished the fire as well. She was so bored she eventually found a way into Draco’s dorm and cleaned it too.
“Santa, tell me, if you’re really there. Don’t make me fall in love again if he won’t be here next year.” Y/N quietly sang, humming the beat to the muggle song. She had went to fetch Hermione’s gift, a small radio that played all kinds of songs. Y/N was enjoying it very much.
She grinned as she happily swung her legs. She stood up to check on the fire, slightly dancing.
The chorus played again, and this time Y/N sang louder.
At that time, Draco walked in. He froze, watching as Y/N surprisingly hit all the high notes in the Ariana Grande song.
Draco slowly smiled, strutting towards Y/N. He tapped her shoulder, “You’re a good singer.” He complimented her.
“Oh… thanks. What took you so long? I finished ages ago.”
“And you didn’t leave?”
“I, uh… didn’t wanna leave you alone.” Y/N sheepishly smiled. “Oh, what’s that?” She pointed at the bag in Draco’s arms. “A gift for your friend?”
“I guess you could say that… but she’s not really my friend. More like someone I owe.” Draco held out the bag, shoving it into Y/N’s hands. “For you. Merry… early Christmas.”
Draco looked away, trying to his his reddening ears.
Y/N tilted her head to the side before she opened the bag, gasping softly. “What the… Draco… this must’ve cost a fortune.” Inside was a freshly pressed Burberry blazer.
“I overheard that you were going to Paris in Winter next year and it snows there occasionally, so I bought you something to keep you warm.”
“Oh… it’s lovely, Draco.” Y/N smiled, feeling the fabric. “I love it. Thank you… so much.” She couldn’t contain her laugh of happiness.
“That’s not all.” Draco reached in, pulling out a jewelry box. “Vivienne Westwood.” He uttered, showing her the beautiful silver necklace.
Y/N gasped again. “You didn’t have to do this… you spent way too much money, Draco.”
“I wanted to do this. Consider it my thanks for decoration. It looks great. Turn around so I can put this on you.”
Y/N slowly spun around, feeling Draco’s cold hands against her neck. He gently pushed her hair aside, lingering for a moment too long. He put the necklace around her neck, carefully clasping it.
“Thank you.” Y/N grasped the pendant, smiling. “I love it. And I love the blazer too.”
Draco was still standing behind her, not wanting to move as he inhaled the smell of her sweet perfume.
“Y/N.” He whispered, “Can I…” Draco hesitated, “Can I kiss you?”
“What?” Y/N turned around in shock, staring at him with wide eyes. Draco, misunderstanding it as rejection, frowned.
“Sorry. I just blurted it out. I didn’t mean it.”
The clock in the common room loudly chimed as it reached twelve o’clock, a reminder of what day it was now. Christmas.
Y/N reached out, grabbing Draco and pulled him forward. She quickly kissed him and shyly pulled away, her cheeks flushed bright red just like Draco’s ears.
“Merry Christmas, Draco.”

⛧༺ NO BODY, NO CRIME ༻⛧
EPISODE 03: i ain't letting up, until the day i die
pairing: theo nott x potter!reader
summary: you find out more about the nocturne society, chemistry between theo and you grows, while other problems arise.
warnings: extremely big trigger warning for the whole series, in this chapter: mentions of murder, illegal activities
note: welcome back to the third episode of nbnc! i’m so excited to have you all back and to hear your opinions on this weeks episode!!
you reacted first. before the door flew open, you had reached for theo’s arm, dragging him into the wardrobe behind you. you were standing pressed close to each other and listened to the voices coming into the office.
you sighed internally when dumbledore’s calm voice reached your ears. he was talking to snape, who muttered uninterested replies, whenever dumbledore asked him something.
you and theo stayed in the wardrobe. you were glad that it wasn’t the killer, who had come back to get rid of whatever proof he had left behind, but that also meant that the teachers were in the posession of your best clue now.
at least you had been able to have a look at it before snape and dumbledore had entered the office. they were quicker than theo and you, just overlooking everything before they left, locking the door behind them.
theo and you started breathing normal again.
“that was close” theo muttered, pressing a hand to his chest. you nodded, not able to form coherent sentences.
“they took the wine” you finally said.
“at least we saw it before they did” theo nudged your arm, trying to lighten the mood.
“you're right”, you sighed, before you smiled again “we know the murder weapon now, that's pretty good”
“the killer has to have some knowledge of poison to have pulled this off” theo concluded. “i mean getting a teacher to drink that… impressive”
“yeah, right” you nodded, deep in thought.
“now let's leave before someone else gets here or they decide to come back” theo nodded to the door. you followed behind him, but your eyes caught on an envelope peeking out from beneath the stack of papers on professor burbage's desk. you were about to look away, but something familiar tugged at your attention.
it was the way the "t" was written on the envelope, sharp yet elegant, almost calligraphic—the same way someone you knew always wrote their name. the memory flashed in your mind.
“let me,” theo had said, gently taking the parchment from your hands. “you wrote everything else, your hand must be sore.”
you watched as he carefully wrote both your name and his, the sweeping lines of the "t" so distinct it looked like art.
“if i had known your handwriting was this pretty, i’d have made you write the entire project,” you’d joked, grinning.
now, the realization hit you like a cold gust of wind. you knew this handwriting. you knew exactly who had written that letter. you used the time you had while theo already up to the door, testing the handle, and slipped the envelope into your pocket. you would ask him about that later. maybe it was nothing important.
“can you open it again?” theo smirked, turning around at you, while you quickly distanced yourself from the desk.
he quirked a brow at your weird behaviour, but didn’t question it as he watched you bend down in front of the keyhole and pick the lock.
you walked down the stairs, through the classroom and slipped silently into the dark corridor, heart pounding but steps measured. theo followed closely behind, but you could feel his eyes on you, watching how you moved quickly, quietly—like you’d done this a thousand times.
when you reached the end of the hall, far enough away from the office, so no one would suspect anything, theo exhaled softly, clearly impressed. “you’re quiet for someone who’s always in the thick of things” he muttered, a smirk playing on his lips. “like a little sparrow, flitting through danger.”
you raised an eyebrow. “sparrow?”
he shrugged. “small, quick, and always finding a way out. suits you”
you smiled at the nickname before you nodded. “yeah, i guess”
“you look worried” theo searched your face for answers, he was used to you laughing at the things he said.
“it’s just— that was really close” you said softly, before you stopped in the middle of the corridor, a heavy sigh escaping your lips.
theo waited for you to continue, but you didn’t. “it’s something else, isn’t it?” he asked softly, the worry on his face almost matching yours.
“i just don’t know why someone would do that to her” you finally admitted. “this whole day i have been focusing on finding out what happened. so much even, that i forgot that an actual person died, someone i knew and liked. professor burbage was a great woman, she didn’t deserve what happened to her”
“you don’t know that”
“what? theo, she was a human being—“
“all i’m saying is that you didn’t really know her” he interrupted. “you knew the person she wanted you to see and after all we found out today, she wasn’t who you thought. i mean if she was really involved in that club..” he let the rest of the sentence hang in the air, not bothering to finish it as you stared at him in disbelief.
“do you really think that?” you whispered. tears spilt from your eyes at the realization that you were the only one of you two, who was actually sad about professor burbage’s death.
“no, i don’t know what i think, okay?” he muttered, feeling bad as he saw the effect his words had on you. he took your hand in his. “don’t worry, we will find out who did it” he promised, brushing a hand through your hair.
as you looked up at him, his blue eyes glistening back, you understood how much his promise meant to you. you trusted him, more than you probably should. but spending time with theo felt like spending time with someone you had known for all your life. maybe that was because he felt like a mirror of your soul.
both of you were the black sheep of your respective friend groups, never quite fitting in, yet never feeling different enough to leave. you both wore the same mask: tough, independent, and unbothered. but underneath, there was something raw, something lonely.
there were moments—like now—where you felt your walls crumble around him, just as his seemed to crack before your eyes. you recognized the same unspoken sadness and shared isolation that neither of you ever voiced aloud. it was this unspoken bond, that drew you to him more than anything else.
“okay” you nodded, believing him.
theo smiled at that. “now come on, let us find mattheo”
the way through the castle took way shorter than you remembered, maybe because theo didn’t let go of your hand for the whole way. the temperature dropped quickly when you walked down the stairs to the dungeon.
mattheo was still leaning against the wall of the corridor, green light illuminating his face. his lips were swollen, puffy and red and he looked like he had just smoked something, head hanging back against the wall.
“riddle” you called, waking him from his slumber.
“potter” mattheo greeted, eyes snapping open quickly as he heard your soft voice speak his name. he was no fan of your brother, but he had to admit that there had always been something about you that intrigued him. “made it official, huh?” his brow lifted as his gaze dropped to your hand, still intertwined with theo’s. you both quickly let go, putting a careful distance between yourselves.
“we still need to ask you something” theo finally announced after half a minute of silence had passed.
“i remember that, yeah” mattheo nodded. “i will help you with whatever, as soon as i get a kiss from potter over here” he puckered his lips.
your eyes narrowed in disbelief as you uncrossed your arms, stepping forward. you opened your mouth, but before you could say something, theo had stepped in front of you protectively.
“not happening” he muttered, voice cold and sharper than you had ever heard him talk before. “and if you don’t stop playing, i will make sure you will never even look in her direction again”
mattheo huffed. “who’s friend are you, nott?” he asked, rolling his eyes, before he sighed. “fine, i’ll help, but you owe me one” he pointed a finger in theo’s direction. “empty room whenever i need it”
“sure” theo shrugged, relaxing and making room for you to speak to mattheo.
“do you know anything about the nocturne society?”
mattheo’s eyes grew dark. “how do you know about that?” he asked, stepping forward threatingly.
theo interjected, before mattheo could come close to you. “professor burbage had that in her hand” he took out the rune and held it in mattheo’s direction, who studied it in deep concentration.
“i have never seen this before” he finally said. even you could tell that was a lie.
“please, mattheo” you pleaded and he looked surprised at the mention of his first name. “we just want to find out what happened. nothing will happen to the society, but someone who is a member might be the killer”
mattheo’s gaze grew soft as his eyes fell on you. you had never thought that mattheo riddle of all people would look at you like that. “there’s a party. every wednesday night. that’s where you’ll find your answers”
“a party?” theo drawled unbelieving. “is this a trap, mattheo?”
“no” mattheo sighed and his voice sounded honest. “the society has been dangerous before it got forbidden, but it’s nothing like that now. it’s just for fun. go to the party and see for yourself. the society has nothing to do with what happened.” he paused, before he added. “but a few members have mentioned burbage and an old dark magical object they were trying to steal from her, maybe that’s what you’re searching for”
“not dangerous, huh?” theo huffed in disbelief and you could hear the anger bubbling in his voice. “we talked about this, mattheo” he muttered, trying to be quiet enough for you to not understand, but failing in the process. “there’s already enough trouble surrounding your name, don’t make it worse”
“it’s not like that, theodore” mattheo replied sharply.
“okay” you interrupted the staring between the boys. “when does this party begin? and where is it?”
mattheo threw one last look at theo, before he took out a piece of paper and pushed it into you hand, not missing the way theo grabbed your arm in protection. “i won’t cut her hand off, nott” mattheo muttered with a roll of his eyes. “quit the ridiculous behaviour”
“sounds rich coming from you” theo replied, but still dropped his hand.
“just open it at nine o’clock tomorrow night and it will guide you” mattheo told you. “make sure to wear the right attire. it’s a masquerade ball”
“thank you” you smiled, touching mattheo’s arm in a friendly manner, before you turned to leave. you walked up a few steps, until you stopped next to a portrait, waiting for theo, who was still talking to mattheo. you felt like it was the right thing to give them some room.
theo waited until you were out of earshot, his expression hardening as he turned back to mattheo. “if this is a trap and anything happens to her, riddle, i swear—”
“relax, nott” mattheo interrupted, a smirk playing at the corner of his lips. “i’m not your enemy here. you should be more worried about who’s actually behind all of this. and trust me, it’s not me.”
theo’s jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing in warning. “it better not be. she’s trusting you, and if you screw this up—”
tattheo raised his hands defensively, chuckling darkly. “i get it. you’re protective. but maybe you should tell her the truth, loverboy, instead of trying to scare me off. we both know that you weren’t at the astronomy tower out of pure coincidence”
theo’s fists clenched, but he said nothing. instead, he turned away abruptly, leaving mattheo standing there, still smirking as if he had won something.
as theo caught up with you, he saw you waiting a few steps ahead, your eyes scanning the corridor, lost in thought. he walked beside you, shoulders tense. “you okay?” he asked, his voice softer now that mattheo was out of sight.
you nodded, offering him a small, reassuring smile. “yeah. i just… didn’t expect him to be that helpful. i thought it’d take more convincing.”
“me too” theo muttered, glancing back briefly before looking at you again. “we just have to be careful. that party... i don’t trust any of them.”
“we have each other” you smiled softly, “so i’m not scared”
theo grinned at you, a soft blush flushing his features. “me neither” he took a look at the clock that adorned his waiste, before he sighed. “i better walk you back to your common room, it’s getting late and we need to be well rested if we want to catch a killer”
“high standards” you laughed, before you nodded. “sounds like a plan”
it was silent as you walked through the corridors in the direction of the gryffindor common room, before theo finally broke the silence.
“can i ask you something?” he said softly. “not about all of this, but.. something about you?”
“of course” you nodded, intrigued to hear what he wanted to know.
“how do you do all that? stick up to what people expect from you? fill the role of the perfect sister of the chosen one? it sounds stressful”
“it is” you shrugged. “but it’s always been like that, so i got used to it i guess. i’ve been harry’s sister all my life and even before hogwarts people had expectations of how i had to be. the strategy is to just be what they want you to be. it saves you a lot of headaches”
“but why? why don’t they just get used to who you really are?”
“well, it’s always been easier that way” you shrugged. “and i guess no one was ever interested in that to be honest”
theo turned his head to look at you with an intensity that made your pulse quicken. “i am” he said, his voice low but filled with so much sincerity that it almost overwhelmed you.
both of you stopped walking, turning to look at each other instead.
theo’s blue eyes seemed to pierce right through you, their sincerity hitting you harder than you’d expected. there was no teasing in his tone, just theo—raw and honest.
your breath hitched in your throat, your heart doing backflips at his words. you couldn’t help but smile, warmth spreading through your chest like wildfire. for a moment, it was as if the world had gone quiet, leaving just the two of you standing there, connected by something unspoken but powerful.
“theo...” you whispered, not knowing what else to say, but somehow feeling like he already understood.
the tension between you crackled in the air, electric and intoxicating. you could feel the heat radiating from theo as he drew closer, his eyes flickering between yours. the world around you faded away, leaving just the two of you in that moment. you could see it in his gaze—a mix of longing and uncertainty—and you knew you were close to something beautiful.
just as you leaned in, your breath mingling with his, the faint sound of footsteps echoed in the corridor, shattering the intimacy of the moment.
“do you hear that?” theo murmured, suddenly alert, his brow furrowing as he glanced down the hallway.
you quickly pulled back, heart racing from both the near kiss and the unexpected interruption. the footsteps grew louder, the rhythmic sound drawing closer with every passing second.
your heart beat even faster, as you felt uneasy about someone coming. it was close to nighttime. and usually, no one who had good intentions would be running around then. your eyes fell onto the broom closet behind theo’s back. “there, go!” you quickly muttered, pushing him to the door.
you weren’t sure who was approaching or if they even posed a threat to you, but you were rather safe than sorry.
you closed the door, just as the footsteps grew so loud that the person had to be close.
the closet was small, too small even for one person. the cramped space was dark and filled with the faint scent of wood polish and broom bristles. your chest pressed against theo’s as your back touched the wood of the door. you could feel the warmth radiating from his body, his breathing steady despite the tension in the air.
“this is the second time in a day we’re hiding in a closet” theo said lowly, his voice nothing more than a rasp. your head felt empty as a goosebumps wandered over your body and you forgot all about the possible danger in front of the door.
your breath hitched as you took in the way his gaze flickered from your eyes to your lips, a silent question hanging in the air. the tension built between you, electric and undeniable, drawing you closer together. it was as if an invisible force compelled you to close the gap, and you leaned in instinctively, the weight of everything else falling away.
you nodded softly and in one fluid motion, theo tilted his head slightly, and you felt the soft brush of his lips against yours. it was hesitant at first, a gentle exploration that quickly deepened as you both melted into the kiss. his hands found their way to your waist, pulling you closer, while yours curled around the back of his neck, fingers tangling in his hair.
you titled your head, allowing him to come closer, as you softly gripped his hair. you felt the beat of his heart as the kiss deepened, each movement becoming more urgent, as if your bodies were trying to communicate what your hearts had been saying all along. the broom closet felt like it was shrinking around you, yet somehow, the confined space made the moment even more intimate.
his lips were soft and warm, igniting a fire within you that spread through your veins. the kiss was intoxicating, like tasting something you had longed for without even realizing it. the world outside faded completely; the footsteps, the threat of discovery, all vanished in the heat of this shared moment.
you broke the kiss softly, leaning your forehead against his chest, not ready to face his gaze.
“look at me, sparrow” theo whispered. you could hear from his voice that he was just as breathless as you.
you looked up to meet his eyes, your cheeks crimson red as you stared at his swollen lips and remembered that you were the reason for it.
“what was that?” he asked, his usual smirk threading through his words, but his gaze was serious. “did you mean it?”
your heart raced as you processed the question. “mean what?” you replied, though you knew exactly what he was getting at.
his fingers brushed your cheek, lingering just above your skin. “this,” he murmured, his voice dropping to a husky whisper. “us. whatever this is. did you really want to kiss me, or was it just the moment?”
“i wanted to” you admitted, feeling a rush of shame. “i didn’t know it would feel like that, though. i thought i’d be more scared”
theo chuckled softly, the sound warm and inviting. “you never have to be scared of me.” he said “probably everyone in this school would hate us being together, but there’s something about you, something that makes me want to take that risk” his sincerity wrapped around you like a warm blanket, and you couldn’t help but smile.
“really?” you asked, searching his eyes for the truth. “you want to take a risk for me?”
“yeah” he replied, his thumb grazing your jawline as he held your gaze. “you’re more than what you show everyone else. i see that. and i want to know everything about you.”
the way he looked at you made your heart flutter. “okay” you breathed.
the rest of the way to the gryffindor common room felt like walking on clouds. theo kept holding your hand, this time intentionally, after you had walked out of the closet, making sure that whoever had been in the corridor was gone.
you said goodnight to theo, before you said the password and watched the portrait open. you made theo promise to be careful on the way back, before you stepped inside.
it took about thirty seconds for you to remember the letter you had taken from professor burbage’s office. the one with theo’s handwriting, you had planned to ask him about.
he was already gone when you opened the door to the corridor, so you decided to speak to him tomorrow. you got ready for bed, changing into your pyjama and brushing your teeth.
hermione was already fast asleep when you slipped into your bed. you tried shutting your eyes, but there was no way you were going to sleep anytime soon. the events of the day kept your mind occupied as you stared into the air.
you lightly illuminated the room with the light of your wand, before you grabbed theo’s letter from your bedside table.
you longed to be close to him again and maybe, if you just read a few lines of the letter, you could finally go to sleep without thinking over it again and again. you opened the envelope, that has definitely been read before, your eyes flying over the written words on the paper.
the smile on your face died fast, as you sat up, to grip the letter with both hands.
‘your presence here is unwelcome, and you are playing a foolish game that will have consequences.’ you read. you could almost hear how theo spit these words at your beloved teacher— the one he didn’t even feel sorry for getting murdered. ‘this evening, i expect you to be at the entrance of the astronomy tower.’
your breath hitched. the astronomy tower. burbage had died right beneath it.
you couldn’t believe what you were reading. maybe it was just a coincidence, a bad, bad coincidence. surely, you couldn’t have been mistaken about him. theo, with his quiet demeanor and his moments of kindness, couldn’t have been capable of something like this. he couldn’t.
you clung to that hope, until your eyes fell on the last line.
‘make no mistake, burbage. make the right choice before it’s too late. consider this your final warning’
your heart dropped. you had been so wrong about him. the words stared back at you, cold and unforgiving. the weight of their meaning crushed the air from your lungs.
maybe, you thought, theo had killed professor burbage.
