my prof just explained on the syllabus that he’s included more points in the class than we needed to pass, so we could skip up like?? 20 small assignments/quizzes/participation!! and still get a very high grade!!

the idea was that we could focus on assignments that played to our strengths - only do the participation stuff if we like to talk out loud - only do the quizzes/readings if we want to do the class remotely - only do online discussions if we like to talk and share opinions but struggle with anxiety in class ect.

and that’s cool enough but then he pulled up DnD character sheets with drawings he’d done of these hypothetical student player classes and how our various accessibility needs could be gamified to ‘max out’ different aspects of the class to get high grades and like!!!!!

hell yeah!!!! let’s treat accessibility in higher education not just as a necessity but as the fun, engaging, and creative aspect of learning that it is!!! I love this!!

When We Don't Feel God's Presence: Navigating the Silence

There are seasons in life when it feels as though God's presence has disappeared. These moments can be challenging and lead to deep questioning of our faith. Whether it's personal struggles, loss, or uncertainty, many believers experience a spiritual disconnect which leaves them feeling abandoned. At least, it does for me. Yet, these times can be pivotal in our spiritual journey.

One common reason for feeling God's absence is the weight of life's challenges. In moments of grief, anxiety or disappointment, we may strain to sense His comfort. King David expresses this struggle in Psalm 22:1 , crying out, "My God, myGod, why have you forsaken me?" Such honest expressions of anguish remind us that feeling distant from God is not so uncommon. However, these trials can serve as opportunities for growth, urging us to rely not on our feelings but on the promises found in Romans 8:28 reassuring us, " And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him"

Another aspect is recognizing that our spiritual lives are dynamic. Just as friendships evolve, our relationship with Him can ebb and flow. Hebrews 13:8 tells us, " Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." This serves as a reminder that God's character remains unchanging, even when our feelings are not in line with what we know. This is an invitation to seek God more intentionally, even in silence.

Psalm 46:10 prompts us to, "Be still and know that I am God." So, create space for reflection and prayer to help us reconnect. In these challenging times, it's crucial to remember that feelings do not dictate truth. God is always present, even when we can't sense Him. Embracing this reality can cultivate resilience and deepen our faith, reminding us that even in silence, God is there, walking beside us through every trial.

in the realm of like, rich kid problems, I want to someday read/write a fic where Nightwing is slowly establishing himself as a full-fledged JL member and everyone is relieved because finally, there's a nice Bat on the Watchtower who doesn't just shoot down their plans and deny their mission requests. but. while Nightwing is kind, and polite, and charming in all the ways the Bat isn't, he's still Dick Grayson. and Dick Grayson grew up as a very rich kid's suddenly very rich kid, which is to say while Bruce might not take it personally, Dick has been fending off people almost his entire life who were trying to use him for his Dad's money. which is to say, I think once Nightwing is on board and the relationship between him and Batman is at least somewhat well-known, there is suddenly a rush of younger, less-experienced members trying to take advantage of Nightwing, mistaking that kindness and openness for willingness to either voluntarily, or involuntarily, infringe upon and cross Batman's clear-cut boundaries. bribing Dick for a better monitor shift with Batman is one thing (it doesn't really work, Dick can't bribe Bruce with much as it is) but trying to convince Nightwing to lie to Batman? to go against him? his dad? the man who pulled him up when he had nothing and gave him meaning again? that man?? and then comes the inevitable, chilling realization, that while Nightwing might wear a different mask, might wear an open smile on the Watchtower and with friends off-shift, there are some lines he won't cross, same as Bruce. he won't, sure as the sun rises and the rot rolls off the Gotham Harbor in the morning.

i think one of my favourite parts about the "Jason has an army of kids in Crime Alley that will do anything to protect their protector" HC is that they absolutely would inherit all of his 'little shit' traits. they'd throw the other Bats off course on purpose.
