Good news everyone!

I landed a new day job! It's much closer to home and only 4 days a week instead of 5! I should (theoretically) have more free time to do art things that I want! I'll be taking a week off from updates to adjust to the new work schedule (10 hour work days over 8 hour days will take a moment to get used to!), but pkmn-REDIRECT will be back soon!

U.S. Route 395 (US 395) is a United States Numbered Highway, stretching from Hesperia, California to the Canadian border in Laurier, Washington. The California portion of US 395 is a 557-mile (896 km) route which traverses from Interstate 15 (I-15) in Hesperia, north to the Oregon state line in Modoc County near Goose Lake. The route clips into Nevada, serving the cities Carson City and Reno, before returning to California.

Prior to truncation, US 395 served the metropolitan areas of San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino. The highway serves as a connection to the Los Angeles area for the communities of the Owens Valley, Mammoth Lakes and Mono Lake. The highway is used as an access route for both the highest point in the contiguous United States, Mount Whitney, and the lowest point in North America, Death Valley.

The corridor has been used since the California gold rush, and before numbering was known by several names including El Camino Sierra.

been "collecting" photos of good grates/plaques/etc around the city to do rubbings of, some of them "straight" and some of them maybe collaged or interspersed to create ransom-note style texts . . . presented alongside photographs . .. ! Oh i just have so many ideas for all these little projects but I think I need to wait it out until they all become entangled in each other because they all have to do with water and public space and interface between built environment and "natural" environment . . .. so I think they can all come together into a more ambitious interdisciplinary research-based project/show/thinggg

I’m not sure if I didn’t know this because I’m not American or if I just haven’t put together the significance of these titles side by side before, but there being both the Trail of Tears (US 1800s) and the Highway of Tears (Canada, 1970-present) is so unbelievably fucking horrific on so many levels, not least of which being the continued mistreatment of indigenous people by our governments
