Uncertain Horizon: Will the COVID School Years Return Amid New Variants?
The relentless specter of COVID-19 continues to cast a shadow over the education landscape. As the world grapples with the ever-evolving variants of the virus, the question on everyone’s mind is whether the COVID school years will return. Despite the optimism of public health officials and the reassurances regarding the efficacy of tests and vaccines against new variants, a critical examination…

COVID's new highly mutated variant called BA.2.86
Ahhhhh yes, and as Ronald Reagan use to say "Here we go again".....
.......... and I know some of you out there are thinking 'who is Ronald Reagan', and he was the last great president America had before the decline of democracy,.... anyway that's another history lesson, let's move onto the current tragedy of humanity..........
"WERE BACK"....... that's the new strain of COVID talking!
Ya see, Health authorities and scientists around the globe are now studying COVID's new highly mutated variant called BA.2.86, a variant spreading in multiple countries around the world and at least three different U.S. states.
And this new highly mutated variant is one bad mother, because if you've been vaccinated with all 3 of those COVID vaccines, they seem to be worthless against COVID-BA.2.86 as this new virus struggles to survive in its newly found world of Human Hosts.
And For about 100 years, the scientific community has repeatedly changed its collective mind over what viruses like COVID are. First seen as poisons, then as life-forms, then biological chemicals, viruses today are thought of as being in a gray area between living and nonliving (meaning we don't know what they are),..... But we do know they cannot replicate on their own but can do so in the Human Body as a host quite well.
Don't worry about becoming a zombie like creature, that's not likely to happen,...... you'll just eventually die because the human body can't take the metamorphosis COVID tries to change inside you, and the virus dies with you.
Ya see,... the virus doesn't know your so weak of a life form that your body won't support it, otherwise if it did it wouldn't have infected you, and maybe moved on to the Trump supporters who are already low intelligence semi-zombie creatures who seem to have adapted to the COVID controling their lives.
It's just like when your out Quail hunting and you bag that bird, take it home, cook it up and realize "There ain't much meat on this bird, is there", but you didn't know that as the barrel of your gun aimed down on that plump looking Quail that is in reality mostly feathers than meat, but now you do know Quails are the worst choice for a meaty meal,...... and you could have just stayed home and shot the chicken running around your yard and eaten more meat.
Understand now????
Anyway just keeping up with the COVID trends here, It is easy to see why viruses have been difficult to pigeonhole.
The only positive thing about any of this is Molecular biologist career fields are skyrocketing for all you college students out there, so ya might take advantage of an upcoming High-Paying job, and change your major from basket weaving to Molecular Science.
Just another reason I'm glad I live out in the woods away from most of the population that thinks they don't have to wear a mask, because they think COVID is a hoax..........

Obscenely late hermitaday day #23 & 25! - Impulse & Tango
Was this meant to be a simple cel shaded drawing on the 30th? Yeah, yeah it was lmao but somehow the power of fire excels at overtaking the rendering capabilities.
But since it's late I'll use this as excuse to ramble below about well, the headcanons and the process down yonder. Also there's variations.
(Also just realized that the compression is high with this one, please click on it to see the details pretty pleasee)
So! Let's talk about that haircut shall we? First off Tango's haircut is basically just me slapping my very neglected oc's haircut onto him lol. There's no function usage or any other lore about it, literally just I wanted to use that haircut more. But Miners and Crafters that's not all! The intensity of the flame actually has meaning believe it or not.
Since Tango in the headcanons is already a nether born blaze hybrid the redstone kinda didn't have an effect on him. This is because blazes produce glowstone which is a power source onto itself. He gets minor effects instead which is a mild (there's literally no other word) high, a intensified hair flame and a brighter eye night shine. Negative effects include mild joint & jaw pain, and a small localized headache behind the left eye.
I like to imagine that other blaze hybrids' hair flame aren't normally that intense, not white-hot heat but rather more red n orange hot similar to the flats. Mainly due to the fact that glowstone is not as powerful as redstone and it's also dependent on how strong a blaze is. Now imagine with me that blazes determine how strong each other are via the color they're emitting. Now remember the blaze boss Minecraft had a vote on to add or not to add? What if Tango is constantly mistaken as a high ranking blaze because of how intense his fire is and he doesn't get attacked a whole lot except for the few that want to challenge him. Meanwhile Tango is just highly infused with redstone like all the other redstoners and he doesn't know what's happening half time as seen by his terrified scream-laughs /hj
He's also semi modified with redstone for the pure purpose of comms just like the other redstoners minus mumbo. I also would've leaned into the steampunk aspect of this season but I figured I'd do a character sheet like etho for all of the redstoners and finalize the aspects on those.
Onto Impulse!
I like to imagine that Impulse was a regular human and over the course of redstone exposure he gained pointed ears and horns. For what reasons? I have no idea but redstone works in mysterious ways and mutates on whatever happens to be in their system. You may see that he has purple lines across his face but then red pupils, why is that? Well since he's cyperpunk themed this season he modified his redstone implants to be rgb. He can change everything else except his pupils because those are deeply affected by redstone and would require surgery to remove the build up of redstone. Will any of the redstoners ever actually get rid of it? No but you can beg all day.
You also might be wondering what's happening in their ears? Well those are the advanced comms that are actually used across all hermits except the ones who've opted out for glowstone variants. They kinda work like bluetooth except more hermit-magic way. I haven't had time to fully think of how it'd work down to the circuitry (that's my usual process for headcanons before I ship them out) but I'll post about it when I think of the full layout. Other design aspects on impulse are derived from his skin and the poster design by applestruda!
Process wise for this piece was kinda a rollercoaster heh. I had started this piece a while ago (can't remember the day on the dot) and then I got insanely busy during the last week of hermitaday. I had done sketch, refined sketch and flats in two days. Then events proceeded forth and we arrive on the 4th which I tried for an entire day to figure out how to render this piece. I then gave up and tried again the day after and pulled up references this round on Pinterest. Tango was surprisingly easy to paint with ref and went rather fast. I will admit the entire time I was rendering him I did say every minute or so "I love you man" because he was turning out so good. Halfway through I then realized I still had to render Impulse. That's when I pretty much ended that night because it was already 5 am working on Tango and demotivation was setting in fast. The next day I was able to continue with hesitancy on Impulse but I managed to keep on keeping on and in the early hours of today I finished up the piece. Where I'm now writing about it close to 2 pm in a restaurant. Man though it was kinda hard to make Impulse and Tango look like cohesive and as if they were painted together.
Enjoy!
(Side note I applied for inprint and if I am to be accepted this will be available along side the three different eefs I've drawn and doc.)

Stupidest of stupid questions: So humans are trichromatic, right? We basically have RGB eyes. How inefficient would it be to have CMYK eyes? Is it even possible?
You could absolutely do CMY eyes, but the K (being black) is a little more difficult because black isn't a wavelength of light so much as the absence of light. I suppose you could call the K your rods, which are best used in low light and convey things like "shadows" and "movement" particularly effectively. As a human, the most sensitive part of your retina, the part you're using when you directly look at things, is called the fovea. It is PACKED with cones, which are good for color and also tight spatial resolution; rods are found outside along the periphery of both the retinal and visual field. So we're just going to set the K aside now and think about those cones.
Honestly, tetrachromat eyes are technically pretty easy to achieve: all you need is four versions of cone-rhodopsin genes getting translated into different kinds of cone-rhodopsin cells in your retina. Old World primates evolved our trichromat eyes from dichromat mammalian ancestors exactly this way: with a gene duplication in one core cone-rhodopsin gene that allowed one of the copies to accumulate mutations until a sufficiently divergent copy fixed in the population.
So to have CMY eyes, you'd need three cone-rhodopsins with different wavelength sensitivities: one that is most sensitive to cerulean, one most sensitive to maroon, and one most sensitive to yellow. You might or might not have better color resolution than a regular old RGB human, though: color resolution is partly a function of the sensory information hitting your retinas, but it's also partly a function of how much brain space you dedicate to processing that information.
I mentioned my blind cat Arthur the other day--here's a photo:
Arthur is what we call cortically blind. As a kitten, he had an intact pupillary reflex and could probably see light vs dark, but he also had severe nystagmus, so his pupils jittered uncontrollably all the time and he probably didn't get a whole lot of useful visual input. Without the visual experience of seeing things and learning how to organize and process visual information, his brain as he developed went "you know what? fuck this" and stopped dedicating any processing power to whatever visual input he was getting.
Basically, he lost visual acuity because the information he was able to pipe to his brain was fragmented and poor-quality enough that his brain stopped bothering to process it. If I pulled his current eyeballs out and magically hooked up new totally functional ones, he wouldn't be able to do anything with them: his brain has given up sorting out the information.
So the question of whether theoretical CMY humans could distinguish colors better than RGB humans is driven by two things: one, whether having two highly-overlapping cones helps you distinguish between slightly variant light types better than very different cones, and two, whether we're extending the total visual range by moving the cones at the external ends of the range (B and R) farther apart. Overlapping but unique sensory information can be really helpful for localizing and distinguishing similar-but-not-identical inputs--that's one of the reasons owls are good at localizing quiet noises, actually, their ears are wildly asymmetrical and they can computer where a noise is made based on how loudly it can be heard with each ear, especially if the owl is on the move as it listens. Like the Doppler effect, but faster with a lot more processing power on it.
I have no idea which would be more effective, but it's a fun thing to think about!

New COVID Variant XEC May Outpace Others This Fall - Published Sept 18, 2024
"The virus is always going to be mutating away from what it was in order to get more efficient at infecting individuals," Adalja said. "So I think this really highlights the fact that a universal COVID vaccine, or some vaccine with different technologies, perhaps a nasal vaccine and using mucosal immunity, all of those things are important."
What if, get this, we prevented covid cases by improving ventilation, mandating air filtration, and wearing masks in public? Wouldn't that accomplish the same goal right now? Every mutation takes us further away from the current scientific fantasy of a universal covid vaccine. We have to stop cases to make this dream a reality.
by Sophie Putka
The new COVID-19 variant XEC may overtake others in circulation to become dominant in the coming months, experts said, but will not prompt a meaningful change in symptoms or vaccine response.
So far, the CDC's variant proportions tracker has not registered enough cases of XEC in the U.S. to report it. (The agency's projected estimates for the 2 weeks ending in September 14 currently show KP.3.1.1 and KP.2.3 as the leading variants, with 52.7% and 12.2% of national cases, respectively.) Another estimate using data from the variant tracker GISAID has XEC at 1.11% of U.S. cases as of September 15, with around 48 sequences reported.
First detected in Germany in June, it's been found mostly in Central Europe, representing 10% of cases, according to the U.K.'s Science Media Centre.
"XEC represents a fairly minor evolution relative to the SARS-CoV-2 diversity currently in circulation, and is not a highly derived novel variant such as those that were granted Greek letters," like Alpha, Delta, and Omicron, Francois Balloux, PhD, a computational biologist at University College London and director of the UCL Genetics Institute, said in a Science Media Centre statement.
Experts noted that while XEC may have a small advantage in transmission, available vaccines are still likely to provide protection from serious illness.
XEC is a "recombinant variant of some of the other Omicron lineages that have been around for a while, and it does appear to be more immune evasive, giving it a transmissibility advantage in the population with the immunity that it has," Amesh Adalja, MD, of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in Baltimore, told MedPage Today. "But it doesn't really change anything, just like the last variant didn't change anything, or the one before that, one before that, or the one before that."
Currently available COVID vaccines target slightly different subvariants. The updated mRNA shots aimed at KP.2 from Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) and Moderna (Spikevax), as well as Novavax's vaccine targeting the JN.1 variant lineage, are still protective against the most serious consequences of COVID infections, experts said.
"If this becomes a dominant variant, it will decrease the efficacy against infection of the updated vaccines, but the updated vaccines will still be durable against severe disease [and] hospitalization, and that's what is really the primary function of our current, first-generation COVID vaccines," Adalja said.
Still, he emphasized, the rapid mutation of the virus underscores a need for a different kind of vaccine than those currently available if the goal is to protect against infection rather than just severe disease.

Been getting really into Minecraft more than usual, decided to throw in my version of the creeper + a funky nether variant!
‘Lore’ text below if you don’t wanna read the last two pictures
I imagine, as many others do, the creeper being very plant-like. I decided to go with the approach of it being a parasite latched onto another creature, namely a pig (real ones know why).
The parasite, of my own making, is the Hisser. It resembles a plant, pigs are the most drawn to it by sight and smell. The hisser, once a pig is close enough, latches into it and begins its conversion. Any being it does not want to use will be met with intense cat-like hissing.
The alternate path of the hisser is to be hunted and eaten by ocelots or stray cats. The hissers own hissing will not work on felines. The ancestral trauma of these interactions has caused all hissers, and thusly creepers, to fear cats.
Creepers have boom sacks, filled with sulfur, which causes the creeper to explode. The reason for exploding seems to be an extreme unfamiliarity towards Players, or perhaps an epigenetic response of an ancestral trauma, or to spread its kin! No one of the world truly knows.
The Saunter, a nether variant of the creeper, is a larger and more ranged mob. It takes over hoglins and has integrated with the natural fungus of the dimension! It spits fire and, if necessary, will use melee attacks (mostly ramming).
The saunter is rare, as it is highly unlikely for a hisser to find its way into the Nether, and then more unlikely for it to survive the harsh environments long enough to find a hoglin host. A hisser will undergo a color change in hopes of blending in, but it’s limited to yellows and pale browns. Once attached to a hoglin, the natural fungi of its digestive track joins the hisser and mutates it. This results in the saunter, its boom sacks mutated to allow fire spitting, it grows nether wart and crimson fungi from its skin, and it’s as strong as a hoglin. The fastest way to kill a saunter is to ignite it to blow up… but it’s a fatal risk to take.

I'm sure youre getting a TON of asks but are you planning on adding any mutations to the bugs? Or what about species variation? Specifically my favorite bug (the texas ironclad beetle (which i THINK I already saw on your roster, but i'm not an expert)) can range from nearly solid black to like 75% white. I don't know how feasible some of that variety would be but I know that it could be fun if its possible!!
I may do this for some species especially highly variable or dimorphic ones although for now I am mostly just making one version of each species and I'll go and add variants later :]
Also funny you mention the Texas ironclad beetle because I don't think I actually shared that one here ?? But I *have* made that species and I've been looking for an excuse to share it so this seems like a good time :] and although it's not a variant I also made another member of the genus for comparison:

Review: Hasbro Marvel Legends Wolverine and Marvel's Logan
Introduction:
Hasbro, Inc. or originally named as Hassenfeld Brothers, is an American multinational toy manufacturing and entertainment holding company founded on December 6, 1923 by Henry, Hillel and Herman Hassenfeld and is incorporated and headquartered in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Marvel Legends is one of Hasbro's action figure line based on the characters of Marvel Comics, initially produced by Toy Biz since 2002, then by Hasbro in the beginning of January 1 2007. In this review, I feature you on Deadpool & Wolverine line which there're 3 variant figures that is; Deadpool, Wolverine and Headpool with Marvel's Logan but... I will only review Wolverine and Marvel's Logan. Both figure is packed with black colored boxart in overall with window box that reveals the whole contents packed inside the blisters, then below the window there's a large printed logo of "Marvel Studios" "Deadpool & Wolverine" movie with Hasbro and 14+ logo on the bottom, while the upper left corner got "Marvel Legends" logo, left is warning sign and the character's names on the right side which printed in red with white frame. The rear part is showing black colored box with the respective character's artworks, figure informations, and Indonesian's safety info sticker and importer. In Logan's case, the box was meant to feature Headpool as the top billed figure and Logan as his bonus accessories which, kinda awkward to actually treat the whole figure as accessories but... I'm not even going to review headpool himself, since I will only focus on Logan accessories lol. Okay, going to unbox this two!
Contents:
Both Wolverine and Logan comes with their main figure, they're included with 2 pair of hands in total. Wolverine also comes with with 1 interchangeable head sculpt. Although for Logan, his figure was supposed to be the accessories but, I omitted the Headpool figure.
Character introduction:
James "Logan" Howlett, also known as Wolverine, is a Canadian class 3 mutant. His mutation granted him a number of animalistic attributes including three retractable razor sharp claws on each hand, and heightened senses, which allowed him to track people through scent and sound. He also has superhuman strength, reflexes, stamina and highly developed accelerated healing abilities, allowing him to heal injuries almost instantly, while also rendering him agelessly immortal. He is usually depicted being a tall angry fellow with contentious hair and muscular proportions, in his movie incarnation he has always been played by Hugh Jackman. The actor also played several Wolverine variants as well. In this variant, he's known as the worst wolverine due to his neglections of not being wanted to be part of the X-Men and instead chose to drink alcohol in bars. One night, while he was out getting drunk, the "humans" attacked the X-Mansion and killed the mutants, including the X-Men. Consumed by his rage and grief, Logan went on a killing spree, turning everyone against the X-Men and earning him this epitaph. Well, this was meant to be a reversed achievements of this Wolverine since he let down his entire world instead of being a hero in the past but, after meeting Deadpool from Earth-10005, things changed drastically as he finally earned being the best Wolverine instead. Although imo, all Wolverine variants are the best, including the short king and the crucified one.
Wolverine:
In this figure, Logan The Wolverine is donning his trademark comic book yellow spandex. Which took 24 years for Hugh Jackman to finally wear this. For a glimpse it looks really classic and very homage to his comic version but, stylized to make the suit more modern like every movie adaptations. You can see there's many crafted clothing details on his suit which made the suit looking armoric and a bit distant to be called spandex, his suit consists of full yellow suit with some blue and black colors, black and yellow hooded mask, blue colored shoulder pads with black and yellow trim, black and blue colored gauntlets with yellow trim, yellow belt with some black and red colored X-Men logo with black border on the buckles and blue colored boots with black trim. He also got his adamantium retractable claws colored in gray instead of shiny silver. His claws were made to be slightly different, which the claws have sculpted garment holes from his gloves, these holes allows him to retract his claws out of without tearing them apart and reducing the pain of retracting from the skin. However, despite looking great there's always inconsistencies in this figure as in the movie Logan never wear his hoodie mask until the last fight with hundreds of deadpools, and by that time his suit was already torned badly after his two fights with deadpool. While this figure is showing his suit in clean and perfect condition, I know this was inaccurate but, I think this figure was based on either concept art or something from other promotional merchandises. I don't really mind on this, I'll take it like this is how he fully armed with his yellow spandex which it's still cool for me but, if hasbro include him with alternate sleeveless arms that would be great but, it'd probably increasing the price for standard hasbro figure like this.
Logan:
This one is his casual wear version, where he wears rather odd and bland colored getup such as solid bright gray jacket, dark gray checkered dirty white colored shirt with gray tanktop underneath the shirt, light brown belt, cream colored rugged pants and his wolverine black and blue boots as his shoes. One of his jacket pocket got partial exposed blue colored wolverine gloves, meaning that this Logan actually brought his yellow spandex for him to wear. The figure reused several body parts from his leather jacket version such as his underneath shirt with tanktop, his rugged pants but, the belt was altered with simple looking buckles instead of native indian chief head belt like in the past releases. And lastly, his flesh hands with claws. The only thing new in this figure is his head, jacket and shoes, this version of Logan only appeared very briefly, thus made him less memorable nor iconic in the movie. They could have instead make someone else but, probably it's just for a simple recycle cash grab for promoting the movie. However, I can tell this version of Logan won't sell as much as his yellow spandex one.
Articulations, materials and accessories:
Both figure articulation points consisted movable head, ab-crunch on the torso, arms; butterfly joints on the shoulders, double jointed elbows and wrists, legs; thighs, double jointed knees and ankles. On yellow spandex body, his belt is a separate part which you can hardly rotate it due to being tight fit. His shoulder pads are not movable at all since they're glued with large bump on his shoulders. His gauntlets however is separate pieces but, they're glued to his arms so, they're not rotatable nor removable. However, you can still remove them by using heat gun or hot water, with this you can probably attach the bare arms from his tanktop version. For casual wear body, since he got rubber jacket, his movability can be limited due to the material's issue obstacling some articulations, you can see that his relaxed position arms appeared to be still a bit flare out due to his jacket bulks out the underside of his arms. Both figures were made from hard and durable plastics and rubbery plastics for some parts like shoulder pads, X-men belt, jacket and his claws. So you got nothing to worry about this figure if they fall. Most of Wolverine and Logan's accessories are their alternate pair of hands, both of them comes with a pair of hands that has no retractable claws. Wolverine is given with right fist hand and left with slightly open splayed hand, while Logan is all fistful hands. Also, sorry for the pathetic pose on Logan figure because I cannot think of a perfect epic pose for him since in the movie itself, this Logan appeared to be a heavy drinker so I used another hands for him to recreate that drinking poses.
Head Sculpt (HS):
Wolverine comes with his hooded masked on hs, which the black pointy ears is shaped like a bat ears, this black cowl part dominates mostly his front face, while the overall upper and rear head that connects to his suit is yellow. His front mask was made from soft rubber material and has exposed mouth part which painted flesh with slight beards and his eyes are painted white. However, I find it funny to see his side jaws being cleaner than his unmasked nor his casual wear hs, his masked face is like a stunt double face instead of Hugh Jackman's face. His alternate head is Hugh Jackman Logan's head in his neutral expression, his head is shown he has spiky messy hair that slightly pointy on both sides and... pompadour like bangs. When I looked his head on the side, I cannot unsee him as Suneo like hairstyle. The same goes for his casual wear hs but, his face is shown to be more rugged and angrier than the alternate yellow spandex one. Which is better suited for his unmasked version of yellow spandex since he looks spot on to one of Hugh Jackman's photo as Wolverine. Both hs were made from hard plastics material while his hair was made from hard rubber plastics material. With his unmasked head however, his neck was supposed to be slightly exposed rather than fully covered but, I think that's kinda unnecessary since people won't even bother with it. Since the casual wear used his leather jacket torso so, his neck appeared to be bigger than the yellow spandex one.
Body comparisons:
Body comparisons:
Comparing both figures, the casual version appeared to be chunky due to his thick wear. Whereas the yellow spandex looks sleeker despite their armoric feel. Their heights are the same however, depending on what head you're using they can be vary; the casual wear hs he appeared to be tiny bit taller due to his head sits a bit higher than his unmasked head. One thing that bothers me is the casual wear despite being thicker on his getup but, part of his exposed body is chunkier compared to his yellow spandex body. Notable part is his exposed neck like I mentioned earlier and his hands which appeared to be buffed as well than the gloved hands. Their shoes/boots are the same but, oddly painted differently. The yellow spandex boots straps are black colored and his soles are blue with black borders. While the casual wear, some straps are left unpainted but, their soles are fully black.
HS comparisons:
Comparing to past releases Logan HS, they're all spot on to Hugh Jackman's likeness. The yellow spandex hs is a bit oval compared to the rests while the casual wear version, his front nose seems a little shorter than the others. However, it surprised me to see side by side both hs (unmasked & casual) colors are very identical, including his hair. I saw in several reviews the casual wear one appeared to have more darker hair color and another thing is I also saw someone put casual wear hs into yellow spandex appeared to have loose ball joint which the head spins instead of being fit. I guess I was lucky enough to get them in perfect color and fitting joints. It is interesting that, despite being a neutral expressions they got their own uniqueness so, they're not just simple face reuse since there's a little expressions shown on them. The Amazon one is completely neutral expression, the jacket one is shown to have a little smirk, the unmasked yellow spandex is serious but, with sadder looking eyes and his casual wear looks angrier which more fitting for his unmasked body. The 2 new hs were made to have more fleshy skin tone compared to the past releases. I did not include the old man Logan in here since his hs are entirely different due to be made into older version.
Swaps:
All head swaps are surprisingly perfect for this 2 new hs despite their slight different skin tone. However, the past releases hs somehow looks a little off with yellow spandex body but, on the contrary they looked much better with the new casual wear body.
Thoughts:
I never been a Marvel Comics fan in my life but this one is an exception for me. The movie did real justice on this Logan, despite the inconsistency of this figure I'm very happy with how he turned out to be great. This Wolverine became one of my favorite figure of this year but to be frank, these 2 hs of Hugh Jackman is the only reason why I bought both figures. I usually prefered Bandai S.H.Figuarts better over Marvel Legends and I know Bandai also made their own Wolverine figure but, without unmasked head is instant no for me. My only complaint is the yellow spandex figure's paintapp suffers easy paint chip which in some certain pose, I noticed there're paint chipping on the blue part of the arms so, watch your six if you're planning to make something like crossed arms pose. Other than that, he looks pretty clean although he appeared to be a bit too bright since the movie suit got their own finishing effects even in the very first scene of the yellow spandex. But, you get what you paid for unless you want a perfection.
Thank youu for reading!😁🙏🏻

All about:
The Clowny
The clowny is a fascinating breed of clown of currently unknown origins but may have been the result of crossbreeding or strange mutations that have evolved in spaces where humans are not populous. They are mostly found in Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and some parts of California, although there have been reported sightings of the clowny in New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada, these have not been confirmed at this time.
The clowny usually appears as a horse or pony with a curled rainbow or otherwise vibrantly coloured mane, colourful clothing, and a red bulbous growth on the bridge of the nose just above the nostrils (but some lack this trait). The red bulb is not a second nose but a brightly coloured sphere of cartilage of unknown purpose. Instead of the average horse noises, they make a variety of honking noises. The most common horse breed variants are the Appaloosa and the American Paint Horse, but the clowny can be a cross of any horse breed and any clown breed. It is important to note, however, that the purposeful breeding of clowns and horses to produce a clowny (or for any other reason) is highly illegal.
Their diets consist of grass, hay, grains, certain fruits and vegetables such as carrots and apples, cotton candy, funnel cake, snowcones, and one of the most important staples of their diet, circus peanuts. Clownies absolutely CAN NOT be pellet fed. Pellets do not have adequate nutritional value to give the clowny its much needed energy and strength.
Clownies are recommended to clown owners who have the experience and land necessary to care for regular horses and ponies since they act very similarily. They need a large area to roam and be ridden frequently. They pair extremely well with rodeo clowns and are excellent choices for livestock companions. If you are not a fan of horse riding, your rodeo clown will almost certainly be up for the job.
Some rare variations of clownies have been observed by field coulrologists, such as the zebra/clown crossbreed (the clownbra), or the donky/clown crossbreed (the clownkey), but have not been made available for legal acquisition at this time due to their unpredictable nature and unknown population status.
Do you know about the clowny? Talk about what you've observed!

Tolkien Elven Linguistics for Laurelion/Elarion
Digging up my old TDP/Tolkien posts to tag them properly if I'm going to write ANOTHER one and found my initial mention of Laurelion and Laurelin. I'm still personally in favor of interpreting these names through the lens of their Latin roots, but there's that one person who translated Elarion as "Heir of the Stars" in Sindarin and I wanted to see how Laurelion came out, given the same -ion suffix... so I dug up an internet "every language Tolkien made up" dictionary and took a look.
Elarion
Obviously I have to check the reddit rando's work first: yes, el is "star" in basically every elven language (for reasons), and -ion is a suffix that consistently means "son of" or "descendant," used mostly in patronymics, and occasionally as "place of" in naming locations. But that's skipping out on that ar in the middle—ar means "lord" or "noble," particularly as a prefix (Aragorn). There's a similar three-part name in Pelargir, from pel (pen or enclosure), ar, and cir (ships, with the consonant mutation common to Sindarin), so sandwiching ar seems to be valid. It would theoretically get you "child/place of the star-lord," though I think it would be more likely to construct that as arelion, with elarion being "noble child/heir of the star," or if you want the place -ion instead of the person -ion, maybe something like "palace of the star." I don't actually know any grammar, here... but I think the plural form of el is eli, so elar/arel would be singular.
Laurelion
This is a bit simpler, because as in Laurelin (literally "golden song"), laure is just straight-up "gold" in every elven variant. But Laurelin breaks down into laure and lin (song), and it's pretty consistent across all the -ion instances that that if -lion or -rion appear, it's because of being combined with a word finishing in -l or -r. For example, Eldarion from eldar and -ion for "son of the elves star-folk," or Calion from cala/cale and -ion for "son of light." So I don't think we can jump straight to "golden child/heir," and we wouldn't want to... because el means "star." I'm a little surprised Tolkien didn't actually go to laurel as "golden star" but I think he may have been more of a silver stars kinda guy. Anyway, Laurelion could be "child/heir of the golden star."
A Note on El
El does mean "star," but it's specifically an archaic or poetic way of saying it, coming from a root el meaning effectively "lo!" or "behold!" Even in Quenya, the more common form was elen, and Sindarin used gil as the common term for "star" (though retained the archaic el as well). So Laurelion and Elarion both indicate that older word, which is a big HMMMM.
Final Thoughts
Honestly, I think this is like 300% more thought than the writers put into this, and while it does seem highly likely there are some real Tolkien nerds among them... most of the fantasy words in TDP are very Latin-based in a pretty heavy-handed manner. So it seems more likely to me that Elarion and Laurelion are meant to be read with their Latin roots, respectively "joy" and... probably "victory" or whatever, "laurel" isn't a word we actually know the root of beyond referring to the laurel tree and leaves thereof, but the association is strong enough that it might as well be a translation.
(Probably worth noting that Tolkien was also fluent in Latin.)

Hey you’re a guy of science!
Could you explain on how the common cold works? Like how do you catch it?
the common cold is not one single virus, but rather hundreds of different types (a handful of 'main' viruses with hundreds of different subtypes and mutations), but the most common cause of colds in many cases is the rhinovirus and its many many many variants! rhinovirus is a respiratory infection that is spread primarily through the air, and you can see how this tends to be a problem, because we do unfortunately need to breathe.... there are several different ways you can catch the cold, but most often it tends to be either direct transmition through the air or through phsysical proximity (being indoors with someone who is infected and breathing it in, or directly touching or perhaps kissing someone who is sick for example), or indirect transmission, such as touching a surface which the virus has spread to and then touching your mouth or nose. the virus can then of course very easily find its way into your respiratory tract and begin to multiply and so on...
if you are sick with some form of respiratory illness, it is highly recommended to wear a mask while in public spaces to avoid spreading said illness to others! and, if you arent sick but would like to take some basic precautions to avoid it, remembering to wash your hands and to avoid contact with someone who you know is sick until they have recovered is a good start!
#unfortunately we have not yet developed a cure for the common cold#with so many variants and mutations im sure you can see why#but we have made much progress in our understanding of what the cold is#and how it spreads#anyway i had a lot of fun answering this ask actually heh#the doc is in#the common cold

Xulgaths (Paths Beyond)
One of the reasons for my posting slowdown last year was looking ahead and send daunting prospect of covering every xulgath variant featured in Extinction Curse. Don’t get me wrong, I was also excited about it, xulgaths are great! At the pace I was moving out though, it would’ve taken months. Today we are going to cover the base model and expect those variations to pop up occasionally as side quests. And yes, if you plan on doing anything related to xulgaths, make sure you check out the Extinction Curse adventure path, along with Occult Bestiary, Monster Codex, and Darklands Revisited.
Xulgath's defining cultural feature is that they got knocked back several civilizational levels thousands of years ago and have been unwilling or unable to recover. While they are a Stone Age civilization, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, while they don't have the rest of Golarion's fancy new technologies, a lot can be achieved with stone, bone, and sinew, so they still have skilled laborers. Second, the ruined cities of their ancestors could contain just about anything, so they absolutely could reverse engineer lost technologies unexpectedly. Third, magic is still a thing and xulgaths definitely have access to it, with the arcane tradition being the only one that doesn’t fit. Plus, those unexpected past technologies could absolutely include magical innovations, not just engineering.
Biologically, xulgaths have two main features. Xulgath stench is iconic, so expect them to not be as bothered by the rotten and the foul as other humanoids. If the table is comfortable with it, this is a good opportunity to make the encounter more visceral. Smells don’t get involved as much in writing and games as sight and sound, so take advantage of that olfactory opportunity. The other thing about xulgaths is the generations of exposure to the Outer Rifts and (unrelated) magical radiation have made them extremely prone to mutation. This could be to a body horror aficionado’s delight, but it’s also a great excuse to throw new and weird variants of these reptiles at your players. Again, see Extinction Curse for exemplars.
Finally, the T-Rex in the living room. Xulgaths have a strong affinity for dinosaurs, which is a great excuse to haul out every prehistoric critter in the book. It’s also a useful way to distinguish xulgaths from serpentfolk, who also live in the underground ruins of their empire and are also highly prone to mutation. The dino aspect does wonders for giving xulgaths their own identity, so make sure you use it.
Relations between xulgaths and other humanoids range from uneasy tension to outright violence almost everywhere. They are likely the calmest in the Land of the Mammoth Lords, although they still aren't exactly friendly. Nevertheless, the region's Kellids and Xulgath respect each other's drive to survive and admiration of massive, prehistoric creatures. Once every decade, xulgath emissaries emerge from the Darklands for the Night of Skin and Scales, where they exchange tales of gods, spirits, and shamans alongside hallucinogenic fire pits.
Szvean the Iconoclast spurns all gods, declaring that all deities have exploited and marginalized the Xulgath people. She hates demon lords, but truly despises Aroden. More than any other mortal, she has mapped the tunnels beneath Axis in search of a way into the Last Azlanti's realm. Once within, she plans to destroy the last of his legacy as he destroyed her people, but in the meanwhile, she must contend with Norgorber and Thamir's minions.
Many xulgath communities consider conjoined twins, or twinskulls, to be blessed by one of several demon lords. Some less orthodox communities believe this blessing to come from the First World rather than the Outer Rifts. They believe twinskulls are touched by Imbrex, granting the power over stone and oracular insights. Many of these twinskulls dream of the Statue Lords, but in the place of the fey city of Anophaeus at Imbrex's feet, they see a vast plain of ancient ruins and megalithic stones. Most scholars are quick to dismiss these as flights of fancy, but some maintain they contain some element of truth. Whether these are prophecies of the future, recollections of the past, or some kind of dreamscape within Imbrex itself remains to be seen.

Handlers and "Humans" Mechanics Masterpost
Here's a relatively complete masterpost of the mechanics/technologies of Handlers and Humans, as well as a few of the new players.
SPOILER WARNING for Handlers and "Humans" and Armored Core 6
C Wave Mutation: General term for sapient consciousnesses within the Coral, spontaneously generating from it.
Coral Flow: A phenomenon where the Coral microorganism was altered in the circumstances surrounding Rubicon III and Raven. Poorly understood, but hypothesized to be a link between as-of-yet uncounted disparate universes.
Coral Colony: A self-sustaining source of Coral, filtering in material from its surrounding environment and producing new Coral. Rarely forms C-Wave Mutations unless connected to larger bodies of Coral.
Liquid Coral: Coral that does not self-propagate unless connected to a living Coral Colony. Can still be used as fuel.
Inert Coral: Coral that has expended its energy, hardening into a crystalline substance that can be extremely toxic if inhaled or touched with bare skin. Hypotheses suggest that certain ways of burning Coral may cause harmless variants of Inert Coral.
Coral Combustion: The process of burning Coral to generate power. Can be done with liquid Coral, but with a Coral Colony it can be performed indefinitely provided that the Colony can access the necessary materials to grow.
Coral Siphoning: An alternative Coral Energy Source, generates power from the growth of Coral Colonies. Less powerful energy output than Coral Combustion, but considerably more humane.
Coral-Augmented Human: A human that has had their capabilities enhanced by Coral-sourced technology, allowing for a vast variability of enhanced capabilities. These include: Enhanced data processing, piloting aptitude, and memory recall; longevity due to replacement of organic tissues with more stable elements; theorized telepathy.
C-Weapon: Any weaponized vehicle or regular weapon made possible by the use of Coral. Does not have to be Coral-firing or Coral-based (Ex: Weevil Drones and Ghost/Antigen/KITE mechs) but merely has to incorporate Coral-sourced technology.
Stomata Facility: Clandestine facilities built by the Rubicon III Research institute for the storing of specially designed C-Weapons and for operational command.
IC Craft: A C-Weapon created with a similar design ethos to the modern Armored Core, designed to function piloted and unpiloted.
Interconnected Human: A project by Hal Schrafer, former head of the RRI. Stated goals were to create highly-augmented humans/humanoids suited to various high-criticality tasks related to the defense of Rubicon III. In actuality, the Interconnected Humans were designed to "tap in" to the Coral Flow phenomenon, theoretically allowing abilities such as precognition and analysis of alternate timelines.
IB-C02-MMP (Manned Mobile Platform): The 2nd set of IBIS series crafts, possessing high levels of airborne prowess and large loads of ranged weaponry. Bears a red-black design schema, oftentimes abandoning any humanoid shape.
IB-04-LLD (Last Line of Defense): A custom-built IBIS series designed for IH-18 Percolozoa. Bears a chrome and blue-silver color scheme, often employing stylized designs intended for use over long periods of time. Interestingly, the 04 line was never built, yet it exists in Stomata Facility Iota, including two that are modern ACs in everything but internal design. Radiocarbon dating suggests they were built before the modern parts that make them up were even designed.
IB-06-ECHO (External Coral Handling Operations): An odd set of IBIS craft, consisting of pink-white frames and an Ephemera headpiece on each. None of these crafts possess cockpits, and close analysis of the internals may cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, stroke, internal bleeding, [DATA REDACTED ON ORDERS OF DR. SCHRAFER], reddening and peeling of the skin, open sores, acute Coral Exposure even while wearing proper PPE, and purpura in the eyes. IB-06: ECHO-4999999999999999999 possesses an anomalous resistance to damage and the strange property of creating 9-based imagery in areas around it. Further study required.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Characters unique to Handlers and "Humans":
Hal Schrafer: Ex-head of the Rubicon III Research institute and father of Walter Schrafer, now Walter Nagai.
Celyria: A C-Wave Mutation encountered by Hal with knowledge of alternate timelines.
IH-04 Columbidae: An Interconnected Human with less invasive augmentation/design than the others. Possesses significant abilities in the departments of: Debate, Societal Planning, Social Interaction, and Infrastructure management. Nickname: Loverboy.
IH-09 Mantodea: An Interconnected Human that was never human in the first place. Instead a complex, Coral-based Artificial intelligence has been built into an android with realistic human features. Designed for Espionage, Assassination, Corporate and Governmental Warfare, and Advanced Planning. Nickname: Ghost.
IH-18 Percolozoa: An Interconnected Human blending human and mechanical parts, gone beyond the measures of standard human augmentation. Designed for Long-Term Combat, Tactical Command, Psychological Warfare, Advanced Hacking, and Piloting Skill. Nickname: Sweet-Tooth.
IH-27: Eurypharynx: A Coral Colony that has had human neurons grafted into it, housed within a humanoid robotic suit/shell/android. Designed for Advanced Combat Planning, Advanced Piloting Skill, Advanced Martial Capabilities, and Team Tactics. Nickname: Firebrand.
For Members of Overseer, that list will be created another time.

By Joshua Boscaini
In short:
Australia has recorded its first cases of the XEC COVID-19 variant that has been spreading in Europe this year.
The mutation is a "recombinant" variant that is a mix of two previous Omicron subvariants called KS 1.1 and KP 3.3.
What's next?
An infectious disease expert says the strain has the hallmarks of something that could lead to a "summer wave" of infections.
A new highly transmissible variant of COVID-19 has been detected in Australia, raising questions about whether it will lead to a wave of COVID-19 cases over summer.
The XEC strain has been reported in 29 countries including the United States, United Kingdom and China, according to global health data platform GISAID.
Here's what we know about the XEC variant and how many cases have been reported in Australia.
What do we know about XEC?
XEC is a "recombinant" COVID-19 variant, which means it's a mix of two previous Omicron subvariants called KS 1.1 and KP 3.3.
A recombinant variant is created when someone is infected with two strains of a virus that go on reproduce and create another strain.
There are conflicting reports about where the strain originated, but most suggest it was first detected in Germany in May or June.
Cases have been reported in 29 countries, according to GISAID, including Brazil, Canada, China, France, Spain and Japan.
The World Health Organization (WHO) classified XEC as a variant under monitoring in September so health authorities could give it more attention and investigate whether it presented an additional threat to global public health.
University of Queensland infectious diseases physician Paul Griffin told the ABC that XEC could become the dominant variant by the end of October.
"It is seeming to grow fairly quickly," Dr Griffin says.
"It's got a significant growth advantage in a number of countries around the world, including our own at the moment, so it does seem to be able to out compete some of the existing sub-variants."
How many cases of XEC are in Australia?
Australia recorded 23 known XEC COVID-19 infections as of September 23, according to the Department of Health's latest Australian Respiratory Surveillance Report.
Dr Griffin says the XEC strain makes up about 5 to 10 per cent of COVID-19 cases in Australia and the strain may have arrived in the country earlier than data suggests.
The National Notifiable Disease Surveillance Dashboard reports 12,037,101 cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Australia as of October 7, 2024 since the start of the pandemic.
But Dr Griffin says case numbers aren't a good indicator of how severe or easily transmissible the XEC variant is because fewer people are getting tested.
"The main things we monitor [for] … is things like cases and outbreaks in aged care, and hospitalisations, intensive care and death," he says.
"To date we haven't see any rise in any of those."
What are the symptoms and how is it transmitted?
Just like other COVID-19 variants, XEC can be transmitted from person to person by respiratory droplets or small airborne particles when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.
Symptoms for the XEC variant are the same as most other COVID-19 strains and include fever, coughing, sore throat and shortness of breath.
While some people don't display any symptoms, the disease can be serious for older people, people with underlying health conditions and pregnant people, according to the Department of Health.
"At this stage there's nothing to indicate that it's going to cause any different kind of symptoms or presentations than what we've seen with the other similar sub-variants," Dr Griffin says.
"People can have very different presentations … it's one of those things that can cause such a variable illness in so many different people depending on their level of past exposure and immunity and what other conditions they might have."
The Department of Health says wearing a face mask, practising good hygiene and physical distancing can protect you from contracting the virus. Vaccinations also provide protection against severe illness.
How is XEC different from other COVID-19 variants?
Dr Griffin says the merger of the KS 1.1 and KP 3.3 variants have caused a change to the virus's spike protein, which makes the disease more transmissible.
But he says it's too early to know more about XEC's characteristics because scientists are still examining the virus's sequence.
"At the moment, this is a combination of two very significant sub-variants … that's why we've got a change in the spike protein and the growth advantage that we see."
Dr Griffin says while it's likely there will be more COVID-19 variants, people shouldn't get complacent.
"These changes are truly random. One of these sub-variants could, just by sheer chance, become more virulent, cause more severe disease or gain other properties like evading our testing or anti-virals."
"That's why we do need a level of vigilance to continue so we do keep monitoring, we do keep assessing and we do keep responding and that's really why we can't get complacent."
He says it's uncertain whether the variant will cause a "summer wave" of infections, like with Omicron.
"It certainly has the hallmarks of something that could lead to a significant wave but we could also get a new sub-variant any day or any time into the future from here that could account for that."
Do current vaccinations protect you against XEC?
Dr Griffin says changes to the virus can lead to immune evasion, which means that immunity generated from past infections or vaccination can be slightly less effective against the mutated virus.
He says an updated JN.1 COVID-19 vaccination under review by the Theraputic Goods Administration (TGA) will provide good levels of coverage against the new strain because it's a "closely related" sub-variant.
"We still anticipate those vaccines to be highly effective and the biggest determinant of how well they're going to work is how many people get them," he says.
"The JN.1 boosters that hopefully we'll have soon will be really important for protection in our country and we want really high levels of uptake."

FINALLY TALKING ABOUT MY PASSION PROJECT
LOTS of art and other stuff below the "Read more." This is a general synopsis/expo on my personal project "The Sport of Bounty Hunting."
The Sport of Bounty Hunting General plot.
The Sport of Bounty Hunting revolves around a planet called "Lataria" created and surviving on an entity called "The Generator." gifted and built by an unknown race the species that now reside on the planet descended from.
Due to a malfunction many years later, "The Generator" began emitting smog that plagued the people of the planet causing some to mutate or change forms completely, although many places stayed intact other's changed to near inhabitable rates.
The Sport of Bounty Hunting follows the main character "Dog" getting into shenanigans and trying to fix The Generator.
Dog lives came from the poorer of the two cities that The Generator takes residence under, "Quartzity." and Dog's home "Sinicity."
Despite his status as the number one bounty hunter he chooses to put his earnings towards caring for family and the community abandoned by Quartzity.
Dog is also one of the first and few characters to suffer the Generators "plague." causing him to hide his head with a helmet and fully cover his body, as the story progresses Dog is slowly succumbing to the Plague.
Home Flesh and Scraps.
"Home Flesh" or "Scraps." are a common term in the dog universe (as many of our own human words can't apply here.)
"Home Flesh" can be roughly translated to a state, but is more commonly referred to as a singular nation within a bigger mass of land, while "Scraps." Refers the mass of land itself.
For example - "Quartzity and Sinicity are a Scrap, Sinicity is Dog's Flesh of origin."
Existing Scraps/Home Flesh in the universe.
There are currently 6 Home Flesh and 1 Scrap.
Py're - A scrap(Island) mostly mutated from the Smog with little residents.
Sinicity/Quartzity - Two Home fleshes, Quartzity with a richer life quality and Quartzity the origin of The Generator.
Dawn mesa/Dusk Mesa - two Home Fleshes, Dawn Mesa has a small thriving community in a sandstorm brewed Mesa and Dawn Mesa, an abandoned part of Dusk Mesa home to the fully plagued of the first Scrap.
Starsity - a Home Flesh known for it's medical and technological advancements.
Residents of Home Flesh/Scrap.
Py're;
K-9 (Currently the only character with ties to Py're)
Quartzity;
Kraken and his daughter Sai, Golden, Crater, C4R3, Stinkbug
Sinicity;
(Excluding dog) Wolf, Strider.
Starsity;
Retriever, Husky, Rhythm, Copycat, K.J, Brass.
(some characters may be left out due to no information on their Home Flesh)
Morality Scaling
Instead of religion, The World of Bounty Hunting's equal is "Morality scaling." due to death and so on being such a highly regarded matter with how it's played off in this universe.
Each scaling represents a decision someone makes on the matter.
Mortalia - to forbid the act of murder
Mortarias - to act upon it without care
Spectophalias - to understand it is necessary but to not engage
Astropolla - to choose no side in the scaling of morality
Language.
Lataria has many forms of language, The most common being Altarian, everything you've seen that has not been a language you know has been written in Altarian or the formally known variant Omitarian mostly spoken by the people in Sinicity.
People from Py're have a vastly different alphabet, their language being called "Pyra'tian", there have been guides in the past for these languages and how to properly format them but most are extremely outdated and I am the only one with the correct written version.
However! this is the MOST updated version.
(Starsity also uses the altarian alphabet.)
How did the "Sport of bounty hunting" begin in universe and why are there ranks?
Originally, Home flesh of Sinicity who suffered the plague were picked off and fed to The Generator to sustain the planet after it broke, it was easy to deal with them as the Smog Plague had no cure, (And still doesn't) Many people of Sinicity were rightfully outraged and formed the E.B.A (Elite bounty association) Were they would take requests from those in Quartzity to hunt or bring someone to custody in exchange for money to funnel back into their home to make it safer and further education and medication for the Plague.
Over the years the E.B.A became corporate as investors from Quartzity saw a sport in it, Creating the "Sport of Bounty Hunting." and watering down the E.B.A from it's former glory with adds, ranks, championships and events, in which only very few bounty hunters continued helping the original cause. (Dog included)
Sponsors.
Sponsors are high ranked people/those of the higher society with the money to bet, When a hunter gains popularity or shows potential they often obtain a benefactor who pays them for every event they participate in.
Does every Scrap/Home Flesh have a Championship/ranking system?
Individually some, yes.
Sinicity/Quartzity/Dawn Mesa all share a championship/rank were are Py're has it's own individual system and Starsity has none at all instead opting for "Rating Ranks." Which favors those the audience likes.
Timelines
There are currently 2 timelines, Smog Timeline (The canon) and Gear Timeline (The fanon.)
The main difference is that Gear Timeline contains anyone's OC and favors characters who may not appear in the main version of events, Such as "Copycat" a villain reserved for a side comedy trio (Strider, Crater and Brass.) This timeline/version of events also either HAS a cure or is closer to finding one than main timeline.
These timelines also vary in which canon character is alive and which isn't, for example Dog passes in canon timeline but in Gear Timeline he is alive and those versions of events were altered.
The last change between the Timelines is canon relationships, For example, Dog and Kraken are associates/friends in the canon timeline if not a little affectionate, where as in Gear timeline they are partners/In a relationship.
The reason for the split in timelines is simply because I love my friends contributions to Dog and want them to remain canon in some way while not affecting the original story/events.
The Guide to Bounty Hunting document.
If you even SLIGHTLY have interest in this and may want to read more, I'm working on a full document explaining things in better detail and going into the story and events fully fleshed out to the best of it's possibility as well as all events in the fanon! It will also go into each individual characters backstories/relationships with each other and many other things like how this entire small passion project started including art of Home Flesh and any archived existing art of the characters/world + the full language Guide.

So any info about the stages of infection?
Also tell me the Toppins are ok.
This is a message from the Disease Contain and Cure organization. We understand you may have questions about the newly spreading infection. So with the help of our business partner, we have prepared this short presentation to better inform you on how to spot the signs of the Lurid Mutations Disease.
Stage 0: Contact
Humans and Toons can be infected by consuming or coming into contact with contaminated food, people, and animals. However, the infection tends to spread faster in Toons, often with worse mutations later on.
Stage 1: Incubation
The infection will begin to mimic common human diseases, which will vary depending on who is infected. This makes it harder for doctors to confirm the presence of the Lurid Mutations Disease. However, both human and toon can showcase a common pattern in the form of grey, mold-like rashes that often appears on the back, arms, legs, stomach, or chest. If the rash starts to form veins that spread around the infected area, this is a sign the patient is moving onto stage 2. If the rash dissipates, the patient will instead experience symptoms comparable to a stomach bug that will pass on. This variant is called the Lurid Leftovers Disease and is what most parts of the world are experiencing.
Stage 2: Mutation
This stage is what gives the disease its name. The infected area will be transformed into a tumorous mass, made up of the infected ingredient the patient came into contact with. The mass is highly infectous and, if possible, sugrery or amputation may be required to avoid the last 3 stages. 5 different transformations have been archived and analyzed, each based on the common ingredients we found.
A detailed guide of the 5 transformations will be released soon. In the meantime, any person experiencing stage 2 will be immediately placed in quarantine. No exceptions will be made and any attempt to avoid this requirement will be charged.
Information about stages 3-5 have yet to be documented.
