Hela as Loki's mother is fine but I want a redo of the of the Jotunheim lore where it was Hela that took out Odin's eye
#i think she deserves that#but also the whole concept of Hela turning against Odin and going to a powerful enemy realm#maybe going to Laufey and deciding to get allies/conquer with him if her coward father wouldn't#is fun#Hela like 'but dad I love him!!!' when Odin says anything but like it's a complete joke because she's only ever wanted violence#she's only wanted to cause death and rule because it's what she was raised for and she could tell Odin would throw her away#Hela who was too powerful for Odin to defeat so he locked her into another dimension to avoid her#why not take her child while you're there#why not raise Thor as favoured in her image instead#someone who would be more obedient if capable of the same destruction#someone who would secure Asgard's rule as Odin wanted it going forward#and then Hela takes one of his eyes too and spits that Thor is the same as Odin#and how would Thor feel about that if his characterisation had been salvaged#how would Thor feel being compared to the father he is trying not to be

i’m going to forever maintain the headcanon that hela is loki’s birth mother (in the mcu)
first off don’t get me wrong, i don’t think odin or frigga or thor would love loki more for being blood related or anything like that. there’s just some great irony in him being related after all
as others have pointed out, hela knew about the loss of odin’s eye even though it happened during the war against the jotuns, meaning she had to have either gotten loose from her prison around then or was imprisoned right after
loki was born at the end of the war
ergo hela was not in prison around when loki was born
ergo squared that hela = loki’s birth mother (aka my headcanon)
“the house of odin is full of traitors” yeah no kidding, starting with my mans odin (and frigga)
lockin up their kiddo hela. i guess banishing her to earth wasn’t an option because she’d just slaughter everyone even as a mortal without her powers
anyway they check in on her once a century and um, doesn’t look like she’s getting any less.. less
they still have her baby tho.. our baby? insert marxist bugs bunny meme
and when loki looks asgardian it’s because he is asgardian, it’s not an illusion or whatever. he’s a shapeshifter, jan
so for the most part odin and frigga can ignore the jotun part of the equation
odin holding off on telling loki about his heritage was because he wiped the realms of hela’s memory, so couldn’t without explaining hela (or lying even more). laufey being the dad’s really just an afterthought
like what would he even say?
“hey kid. you’re adopted. also your dads the king of our mortal enemies. also your moms another of our mortal enemies”
“don’t worry, she’s also my daughter”
“locked her up and erased everyone’s memory of her tho. lol”
“why? what do you mean, why? did you listen to a single word i said?”
frigga’s modus operandi is leaving the family chat on read
loki chooses green as his it color and odin starts sweating
loki weaponizes public transportation and odin knows there’s no going back
meanwhile, thor is taking on hela’s old mantle of asgard’s next big imperialist while odin and frigga aren’t looking
ok and loki being odin and frigga’s adopted grandson who they pretend they’re not biologically related to is just funny
and tragic because of the consequences
ironically this would also mean loki is varying degrees of responsible for killing both of his birth parents
on top of his adopted parents
who are his grandparents
and loki’s ascension to a throne getting subverted is also funny, since, assuming hela’s the ruler of helheim, technically that makes loki a potential heir to 3/9 realms
4/9 if frigga has any claim to vanaheim’s throne.. idk if that’s how norse succession even worked but they’re aliens, jan
also hela/laufey is a totally valid hateship, brought together by their mutual lust for power and resentment of odin all-father, plus the impact of odin and frigga themselves, giving rise to a child that becomes both a balm to and bane of asgard
the peace that odin intended for loki to bring wasn’t between asgard and jotunheim alone. it was between hela and her family
and perhaps the reason why he gave up on those aspirations was because he gave up on being able to reach hela.. being old was taking up too much of his energy anyway
just… clenches fists too tightly for anyone to pry this headcanon from my cold dead hands
#loki#loki meta#meta#hela#odin#frigga#thor#laufey#ragnarok#space vikings#mcu#thor remains totally oblivious to the whole situation until he can’t#he decides to distract himself with several more eat pray love journeys#also#bruncle thor#ugly laughter#dont @ me about the og myths or comics I SEENT IT i know i am strictly talking about the mcu#forever lamenting that we didn’t get a convo between loki and hela in ragnarok#i do love the potential of brodinsibs too though#&

(A/N) Hey guys, it's been a while huh. Things have been pretty chaotic lately, but i have a new part for you all. This chapter is kind of short, but i am as i am typing this working on the next one. Thank Love and Thunder for giving me inspiration. As always i hope you guys like it. let me know. i love hearing feedback from you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Yes, I understand. I’ll keep an eye on her. Yeah, I’ll see you soon.” Loki replies hanging up the phone and letting out a heavy sigh. Running a hand through his hair he turns back only to find Lily standing in the doorway behind him her arms over her chest, something unfortunately he had taught her, her eyes narrowed at him. “Lily darling, you know snooping is a bad habit.”
“When’s mom and dad coming back?” Lily inquires making Loki straighten slightly as he makes his face devoid of any emotions.
“Soon, they just have to take care of a couple things in New York.” He answers folding his arms over his chest to match her.
“Did mom say anything about me?” Lily asks her emotions slipping through the cracks to reveal upon her face.
“She did, she said she loves you; she misses you, and her and Thor will back soon. She also said that you’re gonna come and spend a couple of days with me at grandma and grandpa’s estate.”
“Really?” Lily asks her eyes lighting up.
“Of course. Now let’s go pack you a bag.” Loki says making Lily turn on her heel and rush up the stairs to her room Loki following closely behind her. Pulling his cell phone out he sends his sister a quick text letting her know what is going on. It doesn’t take her long to respond.
Hela – So you’re taking her to the ‘rents house?
Loki – Yeah.
Hela – good, I’ll be there in a few. I just gotta load Fenris into the car.
Loki – see ya then.
Loki had called his mother a few minutes earlier and explained the situation. At the mention of someone possibly coming to try and take Lilly she had offered her house and all the bodyguards Loki would need. His father was also raging at the thought of someone taking his granddaughter. Odin very rarely got mad unless it had something to do with his family. Out of them all Lilly was his favorite.
Taking a deep breath, he rushes off after Lilly to help her pack. The faster they got to his parents’ house the better he’d feel.
“Uncle Loki I can’t find Beau!” Lilly cries out from her room making him furrow his brow.
“Didn’t you just have him?” Loki asks as he reaches her room and Lilly nods.
“He was just here.” She says as she starts tossing her other stuffed animals around in a hope to find him.
Worry floods Loki’s body as he instantly reaches out and scooping Lilly up in his arms races toward the garage.
“What’s wrong Uncle Loki?!” Lilly asks as Loki grips tight to her securing her in his arms.
“We have to leave now.”
“But Beau!” Lilly cries out fear filling her voice.
“I’ll find him later okay,” He moves her so that he can look into her eyes as he continues, “This is important. I need you to be calm and close your eyes okay.”
“Okay…” Lilly replies reluctantly as she buries her face into the crook of his neck.
Loki pulls his phone out as he opens the secret app that was connected to all the cameras. As it opens, he sees a group of men in black outfits, and he curses under his breath. It was too late. Loki takes a deep breath as he hurries towards the basement. If he couldn’t get Lilly out to safety, then he’d get her to the safe room. Closing the camera app, he sends a text to Hela.
Loki- They’re already here. Hiding Lilly now.
After he hits send, he slips the cell back into his pocket and descends the stairs to the room. Reaching the room, he inputs the code and as the doors open, he slips inside. Closing the door behind them Loki sits down in a chair and turns the camera monitors on. He holds tightly to Lilly as she starts to shake in his grasp.
“It’s alright my dear. We’re safe here.” Loki says softly as he gently rubs circles on her back trying to calm her down.
“I want mommy.” Lilly whimpers and Loki’s heart clenches.
“Me too child. Me too.”
What exactly was Odin's plan/motivation bringing home a Jotun baby?? (his explanation in Thor 1 is SO vague) and how did they conceal the fact that Loki was adopted? Were there some people that knew the truth? I'd love to hear your take! <3
I actually take Odin exactly at his word in Thor 1, which...look, I know this puts me at odds with a lot of the fandom, but the way Odin’s story is framed in Thor 1 is as a narrator, and there’s absolutely no reason to doubt the veracity of it. We see the action playing out in front of us with Odin narrating it at the beginning of the movie, and during the reveal in the weapons vault, the same device is employed. At no point during the movie are we given any reason to question the truth of it. That story is never recontextualized to cast Odin as doing anything but exactly what he said he did: he found an abandoned baby, he couldn’t leave it, he brought it home and raised this baby as his own. And because that baby is Laufey’s son, he wanted to one day put Loki on the throne of Jotunheim, because Loki, having been raised Asgardian, as part of an Asgardian family, would be sympathetic to Asgard. Contrast that with Ragnarok, where Odin’s story is recontextualized—three times, in fact. We get the story of Hela from Odin, from Hela herself, and from Valkyrie. Which one is the true story? We don’t really know, but it’s probably somewhere in the middle. The movie intends us to take Val’s as closest to the truth, I think.
A quick note here—we don’t question Odin’s word that Loki is Laufey’s son, even though like...how the heck does he know this? We’re not supposed to question that, because we’re not supposed to question whether or not Odin is telling the truth.
Another quick note—what Odin does was common practice in the Roman Empire (and probably other places but my specialty is ancient Rome). As the Roman Empire was expanding, young boys from the royalty amongst the tribes they encountered were regularly brought to Rome and raised with Roman families, with the intent that they would then return home as adults, take the throne, and be thoroughly ‘Romanized’ (this is a dirty word that you’re not supposed to say but I’m going to say it because it gets the point across). They would no longer culturally really be be Catuvellauni or Iceni or whatever, because Rome is all they’ve known from a young age. So like, historically, this is a well-attested thing.
I hate to say ‘it’s no more complicated than that’ because I think that this whole thing is fascinatingly complicated. Odin’s motivations are political and cynical, but they’re also altruistic. The fact that they coexist in this character really interests me, admittedly mostly because of how fantastically complicated Loki’s feelings are towards him. I think one reason we see Odin’s face as he picks up baby Loki is so that we see that he really is moved by finding this abandoned baby. We don’t know what Odin would have done if Loki wasn’t Laufey’s son—but I’m sort of inclined to think he might have done the same thing. It’s pretty clear that Odin loves Loki and considers him his son, full stop. Even if he screwed up as a dad, I don’t think his love can be questioned.
So, that’s the textual evidence, haha. The rest is head canon! I don’t think anyone knew the truth except Odin and Frigga. I’m sort of partial to the idea that Frigga cast some sort of memory altering spell on the whole of Asgard (possibly including Thor) so that it was common knowledge that she’d been pregnant, when of course, she hadn’t been. I already think she did something like this to cover up Hela’s existence. So there was no need to conceal that he was adopted, because everyone could remember her being pregnant.
My head canon is that he’s biologically Asgardian, because Odin performed some kind of intense Odinforce spell on him to make him Asgardian—but that he’s also biologically Jotun if he’s in contact with another Jotun or some sort of magical Jotun object, like the Casket of Ancient Winters. I’ll be honest, I don’t see any other way for this to be concealed other than he is actually Asgardian, fully and biologically. Surely if he wasn’t, that would have shown up in some doctor appointment or another? Asgard’s medical technology is really advanced, so it should have been pretty easy to tell if little Prince Loki was actually Jotun. And then it just gets complicated; either other people know, or Frigga is constantly altering memories, so I think it’s just simpler if he’s biologically Asgardian. Plus we see what happens when Jotuns touch Asgardians, so clearly it’s not just an illusion.
Thanks very much for asking!
TITLE: Country Entertainment
CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: 1 / ?
AUTHOR: brightsun-and-darkmidnight
ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki wooing you at an amusement part in the game area
RATING: Teen …? I think..?
NOTES/WARNINGS: Maybe bad flirting? I am trying to make it fluffy
My Ao3: brightsun_and_darkmidnight
*FINALLY..Read the warnings. Once you agree you can handle it…
~ ~ ENJOY ~ ~
Loki felt the gentle hand of his mother on his shoulder.
Frigga smiled once Loki took his eyes off of the huge pig.
“Let’s go see the events in the arena.”
Loki nodded as the auctioneer started taking bids. Odin threw his hand up for the bid.
A few steps away and Thor caught up with Loki and Frigga.
Thor gently hugged Frigga, “my friends are here. We were going to enjoy rides and play the games.”
Frigga gave Thor a knowing look before speaking, “have fun and make sure you eat something.” Frigga pointed a finger at Thor, “make sure your FRIENDS eat too.”
Thor smiled sheepishly. “Yes mother. Enjoy the show, it is barrel racing now right?”
“It is. Now behave."
Frigga took Loki’s elbow and guided him to the entrance after Thor assured her the things she demanded would be honored. Frigga and Loki watched the riders but Frigga quickly had a favorite.
Frigga tapped Loki’s arm as she exclaimed. "Look at her! Wow!”
Loki smiled at his mother’s enthusiasm
“She has excellent position on her horse, you can tell how much she trained! She has to be first place!”
Loki looked at the score and the girl was .63 seconds away from the winner.
“That’s a load of shit. She was the best!"
Loki’s eyes widened, "mother."
"Sorry dear. Well. I better get back to your father. You go have fun.”
Loki nodded and went in search for Hela or Thor.
Seeing Hela at a ring toss game he went over.
Hela was talking to the worker and the woman smiled, making Hela turn. Hela went back to talking to the worker. Loki didn’t feel too wanted but sometimes Hela is better company than Thor at fairs. Thor and his friends always tried to hook up with whoever they could. Their flirting was absolutely terrible.
Hela shook the woman’s hand, “bet you another 50 dollars.”
“You’re on!”
Hela turned to Loki, “dad get anything good to eat?”
Loki shrugged, “mother and I watched barrel racing.”
Loki watched the women exchange looks.
Hela gave the woman money and a bucket of rings were placed in front of Loki. He rose an eyebrow and was about to ask a question.
“You are gonna need to practice. Get all of those knives for me.”
Loki quickly caught onto the game. The rings were meant to go around the knives in the center of the stand, but to make things a little more difficult the podiums spun so the knives were constantly moving. With a few practice throws Loki got the hang of it.
The woman working the stand put the 5th knife on a pile. “He is really good.”
Hela’s smile was heard in her voice as Loki got another knife. “You are gonna owe me that 50 dollars!”
The woman huffed when Loki pointed to another knife with a ring around it.
“The freaking bucket cost 20 dollars, and he is gonna take all the knives!”
Hela smirked. “Maybe you should have bet lower.”
“I didn’t know your brother is really good at throwing stuff!”
Movement caught Loki’s attention when someone moved fast to jump over the stand.
It was a girl with tangled hair pushed back away from her face. She had a tight dark green tank top with a flannel around her waist. With tight jeans and dirty boots. The odd thing about her is she was wearing a bow around her neck.
The girl wrapped her arms around the worker. “Hey big sis!”
The worker wrapped an arm around the girl then stated, “Maggi. Fix your hair."
Maggie gave her sister a cocky smile. "I did. You know its because of the spoiled princess"
Hela laughed, "Comeon Sam, your sister is a sass master.”
Maggie’s sister, Sam groaned. “Fuck off."
Maggie smiled, "life would be so dull without me.”
Loki smiled and went back to playing the game… that he might have briefly forgotten.
Sam asked nudging her, “What place babyswiss?”
She gestured towards the bow around her neck, “Second. .63 seconds.”
Loki got another knife added to the pile.
Loki glanced at the girl and the clothes were the same as Frigga’s favorite rider.
Hella held out a hand to the woman who slaps $50 in her hand.
The sister explained to Maggie’s questionable face. “Hella said you would be under a minute.”
Maggie drawled, “How nice to believe in me…”
The sister defended herself as she set a new knife in Loki’s pile, “Listen we knew you would lose because that spoiled bitch would get rid of the horse.”
Maggie shrugged her shoulders, “Now if someone beat her time before I had to go…”
Sam talked again. “You’d be able to buy a new vehicle with your winnings.”
Another knife added to Loki’s collection.
Sam grumbled, “And buy my new supply of knives.”
Hela laughed.
Maggie exclaimed, “my jeep runs great. Just got a few things that need upgraded. I dont need something fast.”
A squeaky voice made Loki want to cringe.
“My truck would beat your shit jeep anyday. I would beat you at anything anyway.”
A few laughs were heard but Loki kept his eyes on the game.
Maggie leaned on the counter with a smile, “How about we ride something between our legs Princess?”
The supposed princess laughed. “Right and what do you have in mind?”
Maggie winked, “Your boyfriend seems ready."
Hela turned, both her and Sam laughed.
Maggie laughed as well, "just kidding but I’m not kidding when I say you guys need to work on blood circulation above the shoulders. You might not use your brain often but it’s kinda important..”
Loki sees the Maggie smirk and the princess one looks confused until she looks at her boyfriend’s crotch.
A few laughed at the huff from the girl.
Maggie continued with a dramatic eye roll, “I mean something with intelligence. A HORSE.”
The cringeworthy voice held a cocky tone. “I won first place, what makes you think you can win?”
Maggie shrugged standing up tall. “You said any condition anyway you could beat me. I want to get another shot at proving you wrong.”
The girl laughed briefly. “Whatever. Cover that huge forehead of yours… is an hour too short of time to be presentable?”
Maggie was running her fingers through her tangled hair. “Can I borrow a brush? No? Okay, I figured you always have your entire beauty necessities with you.” Maggie was working on forcing a knot to come undone. “Don’t wait up for me, I’m sure you are going to need the whole time actually learning how to gear your horse.”
The other girl walked away with an eye roll and dramatic stomp.
Hella laughed. “Well. I’m looking forward to this.”
Sam cheered, “record it!”
Maggie leaned her hip against the counter, “yeah let me know her reaction when I don’t show up.” She winced as she undid the knot in her hair by pulling it.
Loki got another new knife set down in his pile.
Hela patted Loki’s shoulder. “Just a couple more Loki. Good job.”
Maggie exclaimed, “Is he getting all the knives?!”
Hela smiled, “yep. I got 50 dollars saying, my brother, Loki, is going to get me one of every knife. With only one bucket of rings.”
Maggie’s smile faltered a bit when Loki looked right at her.
He shrugged. “My sister likes knives.”
Sam huffed in annoyance, “and he is really good at this game.”
Loki seen familiar blonde hair and went back to tossing the rings.
Fandral leaned onto the counter making Maggie eye him oddly.
Fandral winked. “You are a beautiful woman and I would love to see where those tan lines end..”
Maggie’s face fell to a stoic expression. “Maybe they don’t.”
Hela rolled her eyes and Sam glared at Fandral.
Fandral continued not getting that he was unwanted. “I would love to take you on the Farris wheel. See the fair’s lights and how the moonlight makes your eyes shine.”
Maggie rolled her eyes. “I don’t like heights.”
“I could hold you and keep you safe in my arms.”
“Strong arms are not going to help anyone from a fall like that.”
“Ah yes. A graceful angel Falling hard for a man like me. It must have hurt.”
“Actually to get here, I clawed my way up.”
Fandral laughed, “all the better.”
“Maybe you could kiss my hand better after sporting a black eye for the next victim of poor flirtation.” Maggie gave Fandral a sweet smile.
“Surely a woman like you can be wooed.”
“Get a ring around the blade of my favorite knife. You get as many chances as one bucket can hold.”
Fandral sees Loki’s pile of knives, “well then do me a favor my REALLY good friend and help me.”
Maggie crossed her arms and leaned back against the stand “If he does it, he gets the date. You are on your own.”
Loki looked in his bucket and had 14 rings left and had 5 more knives to get.
Hela patted Loki’s shoulder. “Get her FAVORITE knife. You need a date.”
Loki rolled his eyes. “I didn’t know there was more to this game than winning knives.” Loki threw a ring and got it around a butterfly knife.
Hela took it from the pile and started doing tricks with it.
Marigold got a knife out of her back pocket and was talking with Hela about tricks.
Loki had 2 more knives to get but only 5 rings.
Fandral was only able to get 3 knives in his haste and earned the laughs of Thor.
Sif offers Fandral a fry and says, “Pitty offering”
Fandral takes it and bites it with a high head as they all walk away.
Maggie groaned. “Yep totally not my type."
Maggie held her knife still and Loki wondered if that was part of the trick. Loki had one more ring and he already knew he was not going to get the two knives left. He took a chance and threw the ring at the knife in Maggie’s hand.
She looks down at her hand and back up at him.
The sister laughed. "Well then… she’s speechless for once.”
Maggie was quickly back to her social ways. “Shut up Sam.”
Hella smirks and pats Loki on the back-“Looks like you have to go on a date with my little brother.”
Thor 1966 - Vol (207) - Loki Comic Read Through
Classic Loki Masterpost: Rating: Mod (great)
Plot: Loki takes over a Halloween party and tries to destroy Thor.
Favorite Moments:
At the beginning of this Comic, it Halloween. The local town decides to celebrate Halloween with a parade float.
OMG, it’s the Avengers. When did Thor and Cap grow perfect stashes. (Superman and Batman are second compared to Avengers)
The cosplayers and some locals go to house in the middle of the woods to party. Loki has controlled the host but continues to party so he can blend in and prepare for Thor.
Thor, Sif, and Valkyrie arrive in the local woods in pursuit of Absorbing Man. While looking, the Absorbing Man ambushes Thor and throws Thor into a pond. Sif tries to help, but Valkyrie stops her.
(Oh, that‘s where the Sif x Valkyrie ship start. Eh, better chemistry than Sif and Thor and these two spend more time with each other.)
Valkyrie carries Sif away like a purse letting Thor fight Absorbing Man. Thor throws his hammer at Absorbing Man, knocking him over. However, this attack also allows Absorbing Man to gain the power of the Hammer. Absorbing Man, or Crusher Creel, uses this power to attack which results in the Earth to shattering and Rocks to fall of top of both of them. This leaves Thor half buried in rock and Creel only shunned.
Back to the Fight, Creel is about to use his ball and chain to finish Thor off. Thor is able to grab Creel’s leg and throw him up in the air. This gives Thor enough Time to grab Mjolnir to free himself and fly up to meet Creel. Thor gets the upper hand and Throws Creel in the Water, causing him to dissolve.
See, this is why I thing Absorbing Man is a dumb villain. He’s strength is just as much his weakness. Couldn’t you just pour Water on him and he would be instantly defeated? I guess this means he’s dead, but if begin a gas blob in space didn’t get him, I’d doubt this would either.
Thor is upset about Creel’s “Death” but then hears This.
The slow realization of Thor face, just perfect.
Thor: No, it can’’t Be!!!!
Ah, I love that build-up and pay-off. Also, Loki sitting on the tree with two cute Dogs at his heels makes him look really impressive.
Loki: See Thor, I’m back. And Look, I got puppies. Get him Boys.
The Dogs attack Thor, but Thor is able to blow them away a Whirlwind.
Then Loki and Thor start talking, with usual results. Well, its something.
I think Loki is a bit Salty about Thor and Odin. Not that I’d blame him, seem like a lot of BS to deal. It’s already been established that Asgard did expect Loki to become Evil so is it any wonder that he only fulfilled their expectations.
Loki has Mind-controlled the entire Cosplayer party and will use their Souls to power his plan.
And Plans to use this sword to Kill Thor.
Sif and Valkyrie see Loki and Thor’s Fight. Sif wants to join, but Valkyrie stops her. Suddenly, Karnilla appears. Karnilla offers that she’ll help Thor because he wants to help Balder in return for Sif’s help.
Sif refuses because she doesn’t want Karnilla to turn Thor into a puppet.
Loki’s sword has been enhanced by Magnog, which causes injury to Thor when it touches his skin.
During his onslaught with Loki starts complain that Odin gave all of his affection to Thor and how Loki wanted more Love while Thor responds that Loki did get Love and all of this is in Loki head.
With what we have seen in the Comics, I do lean towards Loki’s side. In a previous Issue, when Loki was growing up Asgard did show a strong preference for Thor and disdain for Loki. Loki was strong in Magic and Thor and great physical strength. However, Loki has said that Odin specifically has favored Thor and .... sort of. Perhaps it was different while Thor and Loki were growing up. However, in the comics before this issue, Odin has mostly been a D**k and banishes Thor and whoever over the dumbest shit. Say ANYTHING against Odin and he’ll banish you and send all of Asgard to fight you. Odin once banished Thor because he couldn’t be bother to explain the top-secret mission to Thor and instead was like “Your Banished. Do this thing and don’t come back till your done” “What Thing” “Shut Up and Get.” Thor, with his Strong ideals, has had many arguments with Odin. Most of Thor’s and Odin interactions to this point have been ... Tense. The times where Odin was nicest to Thor was when Odin held Thor while Thor Died due to Hela’s contract and When Odin Forgot that Thor was there and was reminiscing about the Good-old days. So, Loki may have a point that Odin was nicer to Thor, but it’s not Like Odin was ever a good dad to either of them. So, Thor might have some point that Loki was imagining some of those “Good days” because they may have not been as Rosy for Thor and Loki might think.
Back to the Comic. Loki has separated Thor from his hammer for 30 seconds and in another 30 seconds Thor will turn into Blake allowing Loki to kill Blake.
Sif panics, agrees with Karnilla’s bargain to save Thor.
Karnilla summons a Rainstorm which revives Thor’s strength. This allows Thor to summon Mjolnir and continue their fight. (I’d like to think that Karnilla knows that Loki is weak when wet, as established in J.I.M. 85, and just throws a water on Loki whenever she wants to momentarily stun him.)
Thor and Loki fight during the storm. With Thor’s revived Strength, Thor uses a Thunderbolt to attack Loki’s sword. This does free all the people trapped under Loki’s spell, However....
The attack has Left Loki Blind!!!
Loki flees and runs off a cliff. Thor and Valkyrie meet up where Valkyrie informs Thor and Karnilla has taken Sif, never to return.
Thoughts on Comic:
OMG, I love Loki’s intro in this comics. The slow build-up tease and then the epic scene with Loki setting on a tree with Two Dogs. Just great. Also, this is one of the first comics where Loki also talks with Thor about some of his issues. None of them are addressed and Loki is in a worse situation by the end of this issue, but it’s something.
I didn’t like how the comic resolved. Thor is saved by his girlfriend but then needs to save her in another issue. The solution wasn’t something Thor did/ though up/ earned. It’s because Karnilla bothered to help. Somehow, it takes away a lot of Thor’s agency.
Sif/ Valkyrie and Karnilla don’t really do anything besides talk about how awesome Thor is and saving him last second. It’s not really any worse than what the Warriors’ Three usually do but it’s not really that interesting.
Alright, most of the people I follow don't like Thor: Ragnarok, and it seems to be for good reason. I can sympathize with Loki, and how he was the center of every joke, but I wanted to show some highlights of the movie.
We got to see Loki as king. It may have only been for a few minutes, but it was still there, and we still got to see his technique. Loki isn't a violent king; he invested his time in plays and creative arts. He's respectful to his citizens (cue, "thank you, darling" as the handmaiden hands him some wine), and he built rails on the bifrost bridge, which I don't know why he did that, but it looks cool, right?
We get to see the differences in Thor's and Loki's style on Midgard. I mean, we all love the suit, right? Plus, Thor's "you look like a witch line," was pretty brotherly. I understand some people see that as condescending, but if you have siblings, you understand we tease eachother non-stop, so, to me, that line is pretty special. Also, the suit was amazing. You can not prove otherwise.
Doctor Strange. If you don't love Benedict Cumberbatch, there is something up with you because he's awesome. I've been wanting Tom and Ben in a scene together since I learned about War Horse, and, though I didn't necessarily like how it played out, I'm glad my wish came true. Besides, I can deal with Doctor Strange and Loki's bickering. I didn't like the portal situation, but find their additudes towards eachother to be pretty funny.
Hela is pretty cool too. I found it weird that they added her into the story as a daughter of Odin, given she's Loki's daughter in myth (I think), and I really wanted Thanos and her to have a thing like in the comics. Besides that, she was amazing. Cate Blanchett is by far one of my favorite actresses, and I think she portrayed the character really well. Plus, we got a lot of fanart of the Odinson trio together. (If only Odin wasn't the world's worst dad™, we could have actually had that)
Sakar was like a comic book brought to life. I know plenty of you could care less what Tikita Waititi says or does, but I know he purposely made Sakar look colorful and different.
This is probably as close as we'll get to a Planet Hulk movie, at least until someone starts either re-making the movies or the MCU goes off the alternate realities thing and makes a movie for it.
Jeff Goldblum gets 10/10 goldblums, my friend. I know the Grandmaster\Loki situation is a touchy subject, but when you look past that particular peice, we get a great character. We know the Grandmaster and the Collector are related, so it leads to the question of what the heck happened to their family? Why are they so weird? When did the Collector start collecting things and was it because of the Grandmaster? When did the Grandmaster get to Sakar and did the Collector ever go there? Do you think the Grandmaster and the Collector keep in touch? And if they do, does the Grandmaster know about the infinity stones? Do you think he took such an interest in Loki because of the Tesseract? And, yes, these are actual questions I'm asking, so if you know, please tell me.
Valkyrie is also a great character. I know she's meant to be, "more of a guy than the guys," but really who cares? We got a tough, flawed, awesome woman hero. Not to mention Tessa Thompson's confirmation that Valkyrie is indeed bisexual.
To add onto the previous comment about Valkyrie being bisexual, we got a pretty LGBTQ+ movie here. I'm pretty sure the Grandmaster is sexually active, no matter the person or species. Loki is most definitely genderfuild\genderqueer. Even Korg is canonically gay (despite Tikita saying he doesn't play him gay).
Bruce is adorable throughout the whole movie, and I will fight you on this.
We got to see Fenrir, the wolf, which I found was pretty cool, even if he wasn't Loki's son.
We got some wonderful Heimdall shots. I think he should have had more screen time, but we can see, even after Asgard has gone to chaos, Heimdall is loyal and reasonable, as he's always been. I'm really glad his character wasn't victim to any jokes or condescending comments.
Finally, the elevator speech. Before you freak out and start sending me hate mail, hear me out. This speech totally split Loki and Thor apart. The, "there is no Thor without Loki and no Loki without Thor," totally got demolished. But isn't that a good thing? Chris Hemsworth has said that he wouldn't bring Loki back, so Tom is on his own, which leaves Loki with so many plays. He doesn't have to be dependent on Thor, and he doesn't owe anything to Thor because Thor is ready to be on his own. Loki can build new, hopefully more stable relationships with other characters, and he can practically do anything. I don't know where the Loki tv show is going to go, but I really hope they use the elevator speech as a turning point for Loki.
Codex Judicium (2017, 2018-current)
The third and final arc of the SHIELD Codex, because my brain wouldn’t leave me alone. Continues the story directly after An Ocean Deep and Cold, however this arc returns to the original arc’s method of building to a central antagonist and finale. These antagonists (The Children of Thanos, or his Generals, interchangeably) were foreshadowed at the end of the original Codex series, back when I had no idea they’d end up in the dang movies.
This arc is, plot-wise, a little self indulgent (OCs, flerkens, and a lot of worldbuilding headcanon I wanted to play with) and revisits a lot of previous Codex events to build up to its planned finish. These connections will be listed in the notes. This is also the arc where we say goodbye to AOS series canon. The Codex fully diverges after the Framework arc of the show, and, annoyingly on my part, the Codex talks about that arc only in past tense.
The Shadows of Asgard
Synopsis:
Trapped by memories of his past and haunting his own present, Loki, the shadow king of Asgard, finds himself hunted by something far more deadly than any ghost. Without allies or any friendly word to help him, he must figure out why he’s not the hunter’s sole target - and what any chance of surviving his stolen throne might have to do with his buried youth.
Notes: On the one hand, it’s a stand-alone story set previous to the Codex and can be read without ever touching another Codex fic. On the other, I’ve built it into Codex canon and made it part of the basis for the final arc. Although this fic is about a brief, almost romantic part of Loki’s life, the resolution of this fic establishes that relationship as distant, conflicted, and probably platonic from here. While a character introduced will become recurring, the Codex will never change its listing from genfic to OC/Loki.
The Sand Knows Its Purity
Synopsis:
As Kamar-Taj's chief librarian, Wong feels love and responsibility for every sacred book in the world. Leaving the rural Chinese province of his childhood on the way towards safety for his latest rediscovered ancient artifact, Wong thinks a little about the past, about being lost, and about how much it all meant to his future.
Notes: A purely Wong-centric vignette themed after Journey To the West. Wong becomes a moderately important supporting character to the arc (I love Benedict Wong, okay?) and this fic introduces a unique character who returns in Turn the Page.
Fresh Ground
Synopsis:
Where everyone knows your name is a fine thing if you're a middle-class drudge looking for a drink, Ted Danson, and a guy named Norm. But when you work in Stark Tower - or worse, are an Avenger - sometimes all you want is a coffeeshop that's going to treat you like a normal person.
Notes: Having never done a coffeeshop AU before, this is a coffeeshop short that accidentally ended up foreshadowing the next Halloween fic and thus became a Codex short.
The Ritual of Chud
Synopsis:
The harvest season always brings with it a sense of ritual to pave the way for the future. It's with this in mind that Doctor Strange and Loki left Wong with a single gentle, but unusual, request: Throw a small Halloween party. Invite a handful of magical guests. Spend the evening telling tales and growing closer together. But why?
Notes: 2018′s Halloween Codex is another story within a story collection with several supporting magical characters (Wanda, Wong, Aggie Harkness, and introducing Pandora Peters of Loki’s WAND division) telling sad or spooky holiday tales. The overall story introduces the first clue to this arc’s set of villains - Ebony Maw.
Offhand
Synopsis:
The season of greetings and merriment has come around - for Asgard, whose princes are still children easily bored by pageantry. But when Loki has to face a pack of bullies without his brother to back him up, he ends up beginning something that will change his life forever. Meanwhile, in the future, an adult Loki takes in some holiday cheer among his friends, and makes an admission he hadn't wanted to just yet.
Notes: The first winter holiday short fic since Bleak Midwinter, Offhand has a nice but standalone flashback to Loki’s troubles with the palace weapons trainer. There is some foreshadowing about what’s to come next.
Escape Velocity
Synopsis:
When news comes to Wakanda of a mysterious cache of vibranium destined to hit the international arms market, King T'Challa realizes his efforts to reach out to the world could complicate his role in trying to stop disaster. Instead, he sends an envoy to SHIELD to help pick up where his warriors left off - and asks a reluctant Agent Everett Ross to assist them on his behalf.
Notes: The synopsis is a swerve. Set up as a standard SHIELD op, it ends with space battles and poor Ross helping to pilot a starship. As of 2020, he’s not the first new character to return from this fic - Captain Tam is introduced, Kara is hinted at, and more suspicions about the Children of Thanos are set up. The Grandmaster is also revealed to have ties here, a plot built up from the original arc’s Darwin’s Dragon.
Cat Dads!
Synopsis:
Minding his own business one spring afternoon, Loki finds himself approached by Nick Fury, who brings with him a most curious situation in need of advice.
It turns out that Goose is carrying a whole, uh, kit and caboodle of trouble inside her.
Notes: Arguably the most popular Codex short whether you read the series or not, Nick Fury as a cat daddy was an irresistible setup. This fic introduces flerkens into the Codex, though, with both Loki and Nebula gaining flerkittens that will become part of later stories.
Turn the Page
Synopsis:
Torn from one nightmare and tossed into another, Loki isn't touched to discover he's Stephen Strange's first choice to run to when magical attacks strike the New York Sanctum. The goal of this assault? Reclaiming the Darkhold, held prisoner by Strange for the last few years.
Notes: The Darkhold has been the focus point of a sub-sub arc throughout the three series, from the very first Codex story, to Season of the Witch, and finally, at damn last, ending here. Aggie Harkness returns, and some old plot threads from The Janus Paradox get tied off in this one. The epilogue also builds on a hint from Escape Velocity and introduces us formally to another member of the Children of Thanos.
The Queen’s Gambit
Synopsis:
Long ago, Odin All-Father buried the secret of his first two children. Baldur, who tragically never left his crib, and Hela, who rose to power under a deadly shadow. Now an exile on the world that gave her its name, Hela hatefully waits for a freedom she suspects will never come - only to find that a visitor has somehow arrived after all.
Notes: 2019′s Halloween fic is themed after Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal and has Mistress Death swapping tales with Hela, herself a would-be incarnation of mortality. This fic builds on Odin’s tale as told at the end of Ocean Deep and Cold, and will return to importance in an upcoming fic.
The Family We Choose (ongoing 4/20)
Synopsis:
Loki has been contacted by Nebula, working on the fringes of the galaxy as an intelligence broker since the fall of Thanos, and he suspects that what news she has to share won't be anything pretty. But things begin to shift beyond his predictions before he catches up with her, as two human friends latch on for the ride.
Notes:
This is where previous plot threads are starting to pull together. Building on the events of The Shadows of Asgard, Darwin’s Dragon, Escape Velocity, Cat Dads, and the entire theme of Loki trying to rebuild his life as a whole person and not just a loner easily driven to madness, this fic is ongoing.
Upcoming:
All these listings are subject to future whims.
The One About Jotunheim - A civil war will threaten to tear apart the fragile peace Queen Farbauti has forged, while Loki, unmoored by the possible ramifications of that conflict, begins to work on another family alliance of his own. This is a tentative synopsis and may change.
1-2 possible shorts, including one with Captain Tam and Kara on Earth
The One About Kings - Odin prepares to pass on his crown at last, but as usual, there are intense conflicts.
The Children’s Crusade - the final showdown between Loki and the remaining Children of Thanos... and a few awful surprises.
The future light - one more postscript.
THE 100 my thoughts of 6.07.
Well, me, finally, calmed down and rewatched the whole episode again.
The first thing is that this episode was splendid! I loved it all from first minute to the last once, basically was glued to the screen all the time.
I enjoyed the idea of space minds, because, firstly, it allows to see character deeper and feel their intention, fears and feelings through simple objects of reality, pictures, things. It also gave us a link to ‘Inception’ movie and pointed to Freudian concept of the unconscious. Besides, it also guides us to the Eric Burn theory that each person contains ‘child’, ‘adult’, ‘parent’ personality.
It was smart to use the rain as a metaphor of Clarke swings moods, chest with the code for her secret memory, also show us her dads video and Jasper glasses inside of it.
Her mind is constructed by series of locations. The reason behind is that Clarke really changed through all of her stages in life. Each one has its own meaning for her, as she grew from a young idealistic teenage girl to a grown woman, complicated and contradictory person. She became not only leader to her people, but also a parent figure. We could equate it to the thing of becoming a real mom to a child, who needs care and protection.
Clarke character this episode, her development was really thought through.
Lets try to analyze main locations.
First, we should compare how Clarkes personalities are connected with each stage of action. Second, we ll try to have a general concept of each mind space.
1.Spaceship
This place is where all Clarke memories lies, her story. I guess its just a hard drive to the whole computer, shortly her brain. There she is represented as ‘the princess on the spaceship’ and also as Wanheda, also as The Clarke ‘Madis mother’ ( Read it that way ‘child’, ‘adult’, ‘parent’) . These three parts of her personality show us the two parts of Clark, the peaceful one, rebelious one, guilty one. It’s her three sides, which are struggling to fight each other to prevail in behavior. She still has her child hopes. She still tries to be rigidity and consistency in her solutions. She now is accepting her responsibility, drowning in a blame for her decisions.
The Clarke on the spaceship is the Clarke, who believes that there is so much more than survival and fighting for life. She appears to be the most vulnerable one. Wanheda has the power of being more dark for the purpose of the survival and life. She is the dark side of Clarke who was formed by conditions of her living. Clarke from season 5 and 6 is Clarke who is trying find a peace for herself as a human, suffering inside from two sides of her world.
The lights and the colors in this mind space are truly melancholic and blue. I feel her depression and longing for sadness through this location. Clarke at the moment does not feel right at all, she is feeling down and she is losing hope.
2. The forest
Its totally the most dark place, therefore dark lights and night forest as the symbol of loss and deprivation. Its kinda blurry here too. The ruined throne of Lexa is her pain, which hides under the layers of self-control. There she loses her hope after fake memories of Bellamy. He is still that person, who has that strength and hope for her which she seeks. He is her last pillar of energy to survive and live, as the leader of her people. Because of him shes still trying.
‘You still have hope?”
‘Were still breathing’
But after the fake memories, she doesnt see any benefit to live as someone who can look for her people. Shes already dead, why bother?
3. The fighting pits and the Mountain weather.
Sharp and bright light. The fighting pits is another symbol of her guilt, though Bellamy forgave her, she coudnt do it herself. She didnt win her war with her demons. The BloodRena represent rage, anger for herself, crawled inside Clark. The Maya is the sigh of her moral system confused, her inner guilt for what she thought she would never have done as a child on Spacekru ship.
4. The home
The place where Clark feels most safe, focused and calm. Warm,
light colors and drawings not from her memories, bur from her feelings. The most significant drawings are Ebby, Madi and Bellamy. Its her family now. There she meets Monthy, there she finds her dad alive.
Its her heart in this home.
Her last hope is to live for Madi, as Monty reminds her. To be a mother to a child she raised. I mean, obviously, Madi is the last reason, why Monty as her mind protection appears. Monty was her friend, who truly figured that sometimes good and evil are twisted, and having burden of blood hands doesnt mean ure a bad person, but still means that its the best way to live and find peace.
There she is a ‘parent’.
Anyway, this Clark destination is to forgive herself and to start create something new through the ashes, to find something beside Madi, her people and Bellamy to live for. To heal and become more balanced.
Whats about Josephine?
Her line is connected to Clarke one, as their minds are tangled.
Let me say one thing, she is really hell of sociopath. I do not hate her as a character, but I do see the motivation of her behavior.
The thing is that in Josephine minds her father is the really important figure, affecting her the most through all stages of life. His voice is everywhere, in the library(her voice from childhood memories, calling him. reading letters). Through the door. He is shouting ‘The Sanctum is mine’. This pair could be compared to Odin and Hela relationship. Same spirit there.
Her brain structure is the library, completely rationalized and sorted. She doesnt feel mercy or regret, pity or happiness, pain or pleasure. She doesnt understand human emotions, as she is not able to comprehend them fully. By all sort, she is freaking genius(knows various language, deep in biology and science, gifted for art) but by the cost of her mental disorder. In her memories she adored herself so much that she could stop drawing her first body. She doesnt know what moral is. Its a blurry concept for her.
Her moral is to provide herself the immortality on all costs. She doesnt find it right or wrong to murder, to betray, to tortue. She doesnt care about anything but about herself. Not life of a newborn baby, her friends lover, her father could prevent her from achieving the goal. Its truly frighting and dreadful. She shouldn't be in the lead at all.
Read this to insure yourself that Jo is in fact sociapath https://www.mcafee.cc/Bin/sb.html.
And she knows that. Her hidden thing is the awareness on that. She doesnt accept it at all. She is savoring it, not trying to control or to restrict herself. Its caused by the trauma of guy who kills himself , but still not completely.
I also liked the referral to the predator behavior( dialogue of J and R, when they are haunting Clark), as the main concept of Lightbourne views.Besides, they regard science as the God for them, it means the complete refusal to moral question and ethics.
Josephin: I studied all species, insects are almost fascinated me the most,...ruthless. People theyre so messy, theyre too emotional.
Josephin: You, nulls, are more than worthless, you all don have positive value. You are less the useless. U delude the bloodlines...
So on.
From Clarks side theres a lot of talking whats right or what wrong, even with ALLIE. What defines God.
Its not a coincidence that she tells Monty about the God question, overshadowing Lightbournes things. About connection of moral and real life.
‘I dont want to decide for everyone, Just for myself’
Its a good thrust that through her mind projection of Monty she still thinks:
The end does not justify the means
Murder is still murder, whatever it brings after, peace or war.
She doesnt devalues the human life. Thats why Clarke is the best leader from the start. Her moral compass is always there to remind her that leadership should be based on clean hands, true intentions to help and grow, not in dark night, but in the light of a new day.
Clark also says: ‘Theres no joy without pain’.
For me, it sums up all of her personality. Meaning - to have something good, first sacrifice. To earn happiness you should feel the real anguish. But even after the pain, you are capable of finding hope and peace. Thats why she agrees to go with Monty and fight J.
That what differs Clark from Lightbourne.
She is still in a process of defining what decisions shed like to make, what person she should be. She senses and appreciates.
Lightbournes are in stagnation there.
The last few senconds
Bellamy is just the ‘heart’ all over the place. He is back to his natural statue.
That means head and the heart in work, which, I remind you, always the best.
Thanks for reading.
All the love :)
HOW ARE THEY IN BED: Thor’s a god.. And he’s very well versed so sleeping with Thor is truly otherworldly
GET JEALOUS EASY: Actually no, not really
WIFE/HUBBY BEATER: NEVER
MARRY FOR MONEY: LMAO NO NOT AT ALL
FAVORITE POSITION: oh my god.. he for sure likes to top.. Really any position he just likes intimacy
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN ON THEIR DREAM DATE: DATE ON ASGARD, he wants to treat Bruce to a perfect evening on asgard filled with food and magic and science and watch the sunset over the water
OPINION ON SEX: Sex is almost a ritual to him? It’s a very important and meaningful thing.. He never takes having sex lightly. Its meant to be a celebration of intimacy.
Part 4 of my Thor rewatch thoughts:
The Jotenheim incident:
Heimdall says “You’re not dressed warmly enough”, but setting aside the fact that Loki and Thor can change their outfits into whatever they want, I always assumed they weren’t really affected by temperature since they don’t end up bundling up when they do go to Jotenheim, and can survive in the vacuum of space.
Did they pitch-shift Heimdall’s voice down? Why would they do that when Idris’s voice is already pretty deep?
Honestly, what even was up with Loki freezing in front of Heimdall? Was it part of his plan to make himself seem like Thor’s reluctant accomplice, or was he worried Heimdall had caught on to his plan?
Also, Heimdall doesn’t know for sure Loki can conceal himself from him until he goes to Jotenheim alone and Heimdall knows exactly where to look but doesn’t see him. But if Loki’s had this ability for a while, then surely Heimdall’s noticed that there have been times he tried to spot him and failed. So it’s not unreasonable for him to put two-and-two together and figure out that if Loki could sneak around behind his back, he might be able to conceal others from him as well. So I don’t think it’s fair to suggest, as I’ve seen others do, that Heimdall’s just always been prejudiced against Loki.
Really tho, the entire plot of this movie could’ve been averted if Heimdall had actually done his job. Imagine if the son of the South Korean president just waltzed up to the border and told the guards to open up the gate so he could punch Kim Jong Un in the face. Like, couldn’t they have had Loki do a Jedi Mind Trick or forge Odin’s signature on a fake permission slip or something to make Heimdall look like less of an irresponsible jackass?
The bifrost dome gives me deep body flashbacks to playing Riven in the 90s.
IMAGINE the conversation Heimdall would’ve had to have with Odin if his warning actually came to fruition. “Yeah, I knowingly transported your sons and their friends into enemy territory against your wishes and in violation of the tenuous truce you have with Laufey and they all died a horrible frozen death because I couldn’t bring them home without risking the security of Asgard. Hope Frigga’s baby-maker is still working because you’re gonna need a new heir ASAP to take care of Hela once your crusty-old ass kicks the bucket. You can handle delaying your Odinsleep and inevitable death another millennium-and-a-half until they’re old enough though, right?”
LMAO. One of the warriors says “We shouldn’t be here IMMEDIATELY upon landing. Like, doesn’t even wait for things to go sour. He got all the way down the bridge and through the trippy-space tunnel and then suddenly had second thoughts about 30 seconds too late.
“Your father is a murderer and a thief”. Wow, they were setting up that reveal since the beginning.
“You long for battle. You crave it. You're nothing but a boy trying to prove himself a man.” Okay, but Laufey’s not wrong tho.
Once again Thor, really not endearing yourself to me by telling Loki to shut up in just about the most disrespectful manner possible when he and Laufey are being completely reasonable.
I feel like I recall Laufey being pretty cold-blooded, and I guess he’d have to be to abandon Loki to die, but he’s honestly acting about as sensibly as Odin was before. He’s choosing to let Thor’s insolence slide to avoid war, rather than being eager to slay his enemy’s son even when it wouldn’t be the best thing for his people, as you’d expect a villain like him to do.
So here’s where it gets a little murky on what Loki was trying to accomplish. Like, he clearly set Thor up to go to Jotenheim and stir up trouble. But could he have predicted what happened after they arrived? Did he plan for Thor to start a fight and then chicken out and try to dissuade him when he realized they were outnumbered, or was he counting on being able to talk Thor down, thinking just the fact that they went to Jotenheim against Odin’s wishes would be enough to get him in trouble with their dad? At first I thought maybe the giant could’ve been an illusion Loki created to goad Thor into fighting. But no, that was a real giant, and Loki’s “damn” was a genuine reaction.
Also, Thor starting a goddamned war after Laufey very graciously offered to let him go scott-free because someone called him “Princess” is the epitome of not endearing me to this character. Neither does the line “At least make it a challenge for me!” Like, I thought it couldn’t get any worse than Superman beating the shit out of an ordinary human first thing after regaining his powers in Superman II, but Thor’s taking it to a whole other level. Like, he caves a guy’s face in with his hammer and says “That’s more like it!” Like, this isn’t a bar room brawl. People are dying and he’s loving it. He’s like a full-blown sadist. Also, Chris’s delivery of these lines sounds so much like “But I was going to Tosche station to pick up some power converters!”
Odin was absolutely right when he told Thor “You are unworthy of the loved ones you’ve betrayed”. Thor’s friends should hate his guts after this incident. He nearly got discount Westley from the Princess Bride and the rest of them killed. It makes no damn sense that they’re still all over his dick lamenting the unfairness of his punishment and trying to get him back when they have no evidence of Loki being up to anything.
Honestly, even if Loki felt bad about goading him into going to Jotenheim, Thor was still the one who chose to pick a fight instead of leaving peacefully. If I were Loki, I wouldn’t have even tried to speak up, cause Odin was saying nothing but the truth. I can’t tell if it’s a testament to Loki’s character that he loves his brother so much that even when he proves him entirely correct about not being ready for the throne (which was his whole plan all along) he still feels compelled to defend Thor, or if it’s a testament to how poor the writing is that they actually think Loki should feel bad and try to defend Thor, as if what Thor did wasn’t completely indefensible and he brought Odin’s reprimands upon himself. Loki may have provided the bait, but Thor didn’t have to take it.
I feel like 90% of the reason I, and everyone else, hate Odin is because of TDW, not this movie. Like, he seems level-headed enough with the wisdom he tries to bestow and he’s clearly distraught and on the verge of tears as he prepares to banish Thor. You can tell he’s disappointed and reluctant, but has to do his duty as king by giving Thor the punishment he absolutely deserves for his crimes. But in TDW he’s suddenly making a lot of bad decisions regarding how to deal with the Dark Elves and is absolutely stone cold toward Loki. He doesn’t show a hint of heartache over what his son has become or what he is duty-bound to do to him, and even seems to relish letting Loki know he’s essentially dead to him and he’s going to make the rest of his life as miserable as possible. I feel like this might’ve been done because they wanted Frigga to be the only one who hadn’t given up on Loki, so it’d be sadder when she died. But it had the side-effect of making it seem like Loki’s perception of being less-loved was a lot more valid than I think it was intended to be.
Thor has no way of knowing about the enchantment Odin put on the hammer because he wasn’t present for it, so how does he know later that the reason he can’t pick it up is because he isn’t “worthy” rather than just because he’s now mortal? Also, could anyone have picked up the hammer before, or was the enchantment always there and Odin just changed the conditions of what “worthy” was? Or could Thor have picked up the hammer before because he had his powers, but then couldn’t because he was stripped of them and reduced to mortal strength and only got the godly strength he need to be able to lift the hammer when the hammer deemed him worthy?
Also, how does making Thor mortal work exactly? Do Asgardians have some equivalent of the heart-shaped herb from Black Panther that gives them their superpowers or are they actually born that way and Odin can somehow suppress their super strength and other magical powers?
In the MCU, does Odin really love Loki? His ‘I love you my sons’ in Ragnarok was extremely sincere. And yet it’s undeniable that Loki’s emotional and possibly mental issues were all Odin’s fault. Plus any guy who tells their own son “No” while the son is pleading for love while dangling over an abyss, and then “Your birthright was to DIE!” qualifies as a cold and heartless jerk without question. So, what gives?
Oh boy. This is a big question. I rambled a lot again so more under the cut.
So, first, yes. I do think Odin sincerely loves Loki in the MCU. I don’t think Odin at any point regards Loki as anything less than fully his son. You point out the “I love you, my sons,” line from Ragnarok, but we actually see this several times.
Loki: Am I cursed?Odin: No.Loki: What am I?Odin: You are my son.(Thor)
You are my son. I wanted only to protect you from the truth.(Thor)
Loki: So why did he lie?Frigga: He kept the truth from you so you would never feel different. You are our son, Loki, and we your family.(Thor)
Ah, there’s my other son. You. Your lawless nature, the storms within you, you inherited from me. You are my son.(Thor: Ragnarok, alternate NYC scene)
(kind of an interesting side note, you can almost hear him emphasize my son)
On the other hand…yeah. Odin isn’t a great father. I don’t really want to defend Odin, but I do sometimes think there’s a bit of a…simplistic reading of his actions? I know we as Loki fans are primed to see everything from Loki’s point of view, so things are done to Loki. We understand why Loki does the bad things he does because we sympathize with him. But Odin is also a character who has reasons for being the way he is.
I think the main problem with Odin’s parenting skills is that he’s not just a dad. He’s the king of Asgard. He’s the Allfather. He’s really old and really powerful. He was never going to be a normal father (this is why comparisons between him and Howard Stark don’t sit quite right with me, incidentally). There’s really no point at which he can simply be a father to Loki and Thor. Frigga has more freedom to parent as nothing but a parent, but like…Loki and Thor were never going to have normal upbringings.
Another issue is that this family has no idea how to communicate. Like honestly. Odin and Thor do not understand how to talk to Loki and Loki doesn’t know how to talk to Thor and Odin. They hear the words the other is saying, but they don’t hear the actual meaning behind those words. And Loki, in particular, probably makes it difficult to talk to him. He’s definitely at his most open in Thor, but you can still see the protective shell he keeps around himself. The scene in the weapons vault is a perfect example of this. Loki’s entire identity is crumbling around him. He’s not Odin and Frigga’s son, he’s not Thor’s brother. He’s not even Asgardian. He’s a Jotun, the people whom he’s spent his entire life hearing are monsters. This pain is absolutely radiating off him. But what Odin hears are sincere questions that he can give a logical answer to. “Who am I?” “Why did you take me?” “So I am no more than another stolen relic?” Loki doesn’t need logical answers. He’s just lost everything. He needs a father and Odin has never been able to be that in the way that Loki needs.
Onto your specific points. Dangling off the Bifrost in Thor! When Loki says:
I could have done it, father! I could have done it! For you! For all of us!
We may see that as pleading for love (personally I don’t think it’s love so much as acceptance, but YMMV), but I think Odin takes this pretty much at face value. His “No, Loki,” isn’t, no, I don’t love or accept you, it’s no, you didn’t do this for me or for all of us. It’s pretty clear that he doesn’t expect Loki to freaking let go and die. Loki isn’t in any physical danger there; he can easily be pulled to safety. This is classic Loki and Odin talking past each other.
I wish I could make gifs because I would gif both Odin’s reaction to Loki letting go and his final scene in Thor. We get this exchange:
Odin: You’ll be a wise king.Thor: There will never be a wiser king than you. Or a better father.
And then we get a full ten seconds of silence while Odin looks down. I take this very much to be Odin doubting and probably outright disagreeing with this.
“Your birthright was to die!” Yeah that sucked. This whole scene sucks for the Odin & Loki familial relationship. This may be crossing over into head canon territory, but the way I see Thor and Odin (who Thor would have got it from) is that they’ll say whatever comes into their head. They’re mad at you? You’re going to know it. Do they literally mean the crappy stuff they’re saying? Probably not. I don’t think Odin wants Loki dead; I’m not even quite sure that he’s telling the truth about Frigga being the only reason that Loki isn’t being executed. Unfortunately Loki is clearly the opposite. Loki will remember every bad thing you ever said to him and he’ll internalize it and it will eat away at him. This is Thor’s, “So you take the world I love in recompense for your imagined slights.” They’re not imagined to Loki. His family, the people he loves, have hurt him deeply, and they don’t seem to get it or care.
I would also say that from Odin’s point of view, Loki is being such a little shit here. He’s not showing the tiniest bit of remorse for A) attempting to destroy Jotunheim or B) running wild on Earth and letting an alien army invade. I think Odin is so cruel and angry here because he loves Loki, because he sees Loki as his son. He’s disappointed and he shows it in pretty much the worst possible way…which we know is what he does, because we already saw him do it to Thor after the Jotunheim debacle in Thor.
If you think about it, Loki actually gets off pretty easy. At least he got to stay on Asgard instead of being banished like Hela and Thor! No but seriously, there’s a really messed up family dynamic going on with the House of Odin, but at the end of the day I do think Odin loves Loki. Love alone doesn’t solve problems, though.
Anyway, I wouldn’t have Loki any other way, his family issues make him a delightful mess to think and write about.
Ragnarok
TITLE: Ragnarok
CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 1: King of the Dumpsters
AUTHOR: traveling-classicist
ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine you take care Odin when he was homeless on Midgard (based on the deleted scene from Ragnarok). You take him in and listen his crazy stories about Asgard and Thor thinking he’s just some crazy hobo who needs help. Then one day, Thor and Loki break into your apartment looking for their father. Hela returns in your living room and insanity ensues.
RATING: T
AO3 Link: Here
NOTES/WARNINGS: Mentions of homelessness and mentions of alcoholism in this chapter
————————————————————————————————–
Theo jockeyed through the crowd of pedestrians on the sidewalk. She had a skip in her step. She was finally ready. After Jacob moved out and she cleaned everything up in her apartment, she was finally ready for a new roommate and she knew just the man. As she reached Hell’s Kitchen, she started looking down the side streets and alleys, looking for him. This is where he liked to hang out. With Times Square and Broadway so close by, there were plenty of generous tourists to give him money or leftovers or even the occasional beer.
She was beginning to worry as she walked further down the streets. She hadn’t seen him yet or any pedestrians running away screaming, which was often a good sign he was nearby. She hoped he hadn’t been picked up again. The poor guy did not need to spend another night in jail. Sometimes this city was so cruel to its people, even the most unfortunate of them. Mostly the most unfortunate of them. She glanced down an alleyway and was relieved to find him digging through a dumpster. She walked towards him.
“Finding anything of use, today?” she asked. He was halfway in the dumpster, only legs sticking out. He jumped when she spoke and fell into the dumpster.
“Go away! This is the domain of Odin, King of the Dumpsters!” the old man shouted, his voice echoed in the dumpster. Theo walked closer. Standing on her tippy toes, she looked inside. She ducked just in time as a half empty bottle of whiskey sailed past her head. She crouched down beside the dumpster, putting her hands up to cover her face, as it slammed into the brick wall behind her, shattering and spraying whiskey all over her.
“Odin! Geez, you could’ve hit me!” she shouted at him. “It’s me, Theo! We talked about this; you can’t throw things at people. Wait, did you say, King of the Dumpsters?” Theo said, putting her hands on her hips.
“Mimir told me to use it. He said it was fitting,” he said, rising up from inside the dumpster. He wore a tattered red jacket and layers of stinky, dirty clothes. He wore the hat she had given him. His eye was still covered in grimy bandages. His breath stank of alcohol again. “You interrupted me, Theo. I was attending to very important, kingly, business.”
Theo’s expression fell flat. “In the dumpsters?”
“You don’t understand, girl. I have a kingdom to run.”
“Is that right?”
“I thought perhaps you might be the Einherjar. That’s the last thing I need is them, hauling me off to the prisons again.”
“You mean the police?”
“Oh, yes, that’s what you call them.”
“Come on, you crazy old fart, you’re coming with me today,” she said, trying to help him out of the dumpster.
“Oh, no! I’ve got a full day ahead of me. I’m meeting with the council on 47th street,” he said, turning around in the rubbish, looking for something.
“Is that right?”
“Yes. They need to know that the streets of Asgard are becoming very dirty. Look at all this rubbish! Can hardly walk anywhere.”
“Right. Well, you are in a dumpster—”
“And then, Mimir was telling me about the kitchens on 45th street. Apparently, they’re dumping a lot of good food out in their dumpsters. But I must stay away from that Thai food this time. Just like Vanir cuisine, that is. All those spices. Burns just as hot coming out the other end!”
“I don’t need to know that—”
“And then, my son is supposed to be coming soon. You know, I’ve told you. Thor? He’s coming to get me.”
“Odin, please,” she said.
“No! No! I know he is this time. I can feel it. That or the leftover curry I had last night. I can never tell the difference,” he said, rubbing his belly.
“I think it’s probably the curry. Will you please just come with me?” she pleaded.
“No, no, no. I’m busy. A king is always busy. Busy, busy, busy.”
“Yes, I know but there’s a Nor’easter coming in tonight, and I don’t want you out here in it. Please, come back to my place. I have a free room now.”
“Woman, I’m fine! Look,” he said, nimbly hopping out of the dumpster to Theo’s surprise. He walked to a stolen shopping cart and pulled out the sleeping bag she had given him months ago. “I have the blanket you brought me and the coat and the gloves and the hat and the scarf and the boots,” he said, pointing to each item in turn. “I’m sure I’m ready for any weather Midgard can throw at me.”
“No, Odin. Those are good for when it’s cold like this, but it’s going to get worse tonight. The shelters are already full, and I knew you wouldn’t go to one. Jacob’s moved out now. He got a job as a janitor and his own place in Jersey, so the room’s free now. Please, come with me.”
He looked up at her with his single, blue eye. He seemed to look right through her at the brick wall.
“Please?” she said, with a smile. A smile crept across his face.
“Theo! It’s good to see you!”
“It’s good to see you too,” she said, pretending he had not just forgotten their conversation. “Odin, I have a free room now. It’s yours, okay, come on!”
“A room? Oh, you mean chambers!”
“Yes, chambers! And their all yours. Come on!” She quickly took his hand before he could change his mind and led him out of the alley. They walked a few blocks, Theo making sure Odin stayed right with her.
They passed shop windows and brightly lit theaters, restaurants lined with diners and cafes teeming with hipsters. Odin looked inside each window as if searching for someone. Theo took his arm to keep control of him. He turned to her and frowned.
“Where are we going?”
“We’re going to my apartment, remember? I’ve got your chambers all set up for you.”
“Oh, no, no, no. I’m very busy today,” he said, pulling away from her. “I have to wait for Thor, that’s what the Doctor said. ‘Wait for Thor,’ he said. And I have to meet with the council to discuss these filthy streets. And—”
“I’ve canceled your plans; you need a bath,” she cut him off before he could come up with some other excuse.
“I had a bath yesterday,” he said, folding his arms like a child reporting to his mother.
“Which yesterday?”
He shook his head a moment. “Oh, a few yesterdays ago. I can’t remember.”
“Alright, so you need one. And you need a good meal that’s apparently not Thai or Indian,” she said, taking his arm again and continuing up the street.
“Oh, and beer! Do you have any beer?”
She frowned at him. She knew he had an alcohol abuse problem that she did not want to encourage. She didn’t really blame him after everything that had happened to him. Abandoned by his family and the nursing home that had been caring for him, he had nothing else to turn to; no one else to turn to. Until she had met him, that is.
“I may have a little bit of beer at home but there’s some rules, so you’ll have to wait.”
“Oh, alright,” he said, gruffly.
They continued up 8th Ave towards the park. The air was cold, and the wind nipped at their faces. The storm was set to hit them that evening, so Theo knew she needed to get Odin settled quickly.
“Oh, look, a park,” Odin said.
Theo couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah, that’s Central Park.”
“How quaint. You know, I love the way you Midgardians rope off nature like this. Build up all around it like you’ve conquered your little world and made it yours.”
“You don’t get out of Hell’s Kitchen much, do you?”
“You mean ‘Hela’s Kitchen’. I was waiting for my son there.”
Theo smiled and shook her head. Odin was known around the streets as the crazy hobo god. He thought he was the Norse king of the gods. He always talked about Asgard and Midgard and his son, Thor. Like the Avenger Thor. No one believed him, of course. The poor old man was suffering terribly from dementia and probably schizophrenia as well. Theo had caught him several times talking to the air, speaking to someone called Frigga.
They cut across the park, taking some winding trails past ponds and huge trees and massive rocks. Odin looked around as if dazed.
“This doesn’t look like the city?” he said.
“We’re still in the city, silly. We just cut across the park. Central Park, remember? We’re going to my house.”
“You live in here? In the woods?”
“No!” she said, laughing and taking his arm. “I live on the other side of the park! Over there, see that’s the Met, I’m across the street and down a ways.”
“Oh, I was beginning to question your choice of a homestead.”
“You are so funny.”
“Am I?”
“Yes.”
“I don’t think anyone has ever described me that way.”
“Well, they’re clearly mistaken.”
They crossed in front of the Met Museum and walked down the street. The buzz of 5th Ave faded behind them, as they crossed into a quieter neighborhood. Quieter for New York, at least. Theo unlocked the front door of her apartment block and peeked inside. Her landlord didn’t like to see non-tenants in the building and he definitely didn’t like Theo’s homeless friends. Determining that the coast was clear, Theo led him inside.
“Why are we sneaking?” Odin whispered, harshly.
Theo snickered. “We have to steer clear of my landlord.”
“Oh, very well.”
She pressed the button for the elevator and waited. When it came to the ground floor, the doors opened smoothly, revealing her sleek-looking landlord, Alex. Her heart sank. Now, she was going to hear it.
Alex looked at her with contempt and then raised a brow at Odin.
“Bringing your little friends back again, Theo? You know, we talked about this. I’ll have to put another strike on your—”
Theo interrupted, “This isn’t one of my ‘little friends’. This is… my dad.”
“Your… dad?”
“Pleased to meet you, my lord,” Odin said, extending his hand.
Alex recoiled a little. “Eh, hi. How long will he be staying?”
“Well, that’s not really any of your business, now is it?” Theo said, glaring at the tuxedoed hipster. “You’re a landlord of an apartment block, not the manager of a hotel. May we get on, please?”
“Just make sure he doesn’t bother anybody,” Alex said.
Theo rolled her eyes and pushed past him, leading Odin in by his hand. Alex stepped off the elevator and watched them as the doors closed. Once they were closed, Theo flipped him off.
“Well, that’s very rude, young lady. He seemed like a nice young man,” Odin said. “He’d be a very good match for you, I think.”
“Pfft. I don’t think so. Guy’s a prick,” Theo sighed. “And if he knew who you were, he’d kick you out on the streets in this storm without another thought.”
“Well then, he is clearly very skilled in illusion, because I thought he was quite nice. You know, my other son is good at magic.”
“You mean Loki?” Theo asked, shuddering a little at the thought of the man that had caused her so much grief.
“Mmm. He was a strange boy but a good sorcerer. He had Frigga to thank for that. She loved him so much.”
“Right,” Theo said, rather shortly. She didn’t want to hurt his feelings but she did not want to talk about Loki, even the fake one Odin liked to talk about. She had assumed he was another who was traumatized by the Battle of New York. Traumatized to insanity.
The doors opened onto the 14th floor and they stepped out. The hallway was pristine and white, radiating a modern architectural aesthetic. Theo led him to her apartment.
“Okay, so we live in apartment number 1414. See?” She pointed to the number on the door.
“One thousand four hundred and fourteen people live here? It looks so small.”
“Welcome to New York,” Theo said, opening the door. Her apartment was as crisp and clean as the hallway. Wooden floors gave way to sleek, white walls and gray concrete. A great wall of windows gave them a lovely view above the surrounding buildings and just a bit of the park. She had house plants lined up on shelves along the windows. A small table and chairs took up one side, while a petite kitchen took up the other. The living room was made up of a couch and a few armchairs surrounding a coffee table. One whole wall was lined with a great, black bookshelf that stood from floor to ceiling, packed full with books.
“Come on in,” she said to Odin.
“Well, this is very humble,” he said, looking around with a smile.
“Beats sleeping out in the cold.”
He took her arm, gently. “Thank you, Theo.”
She smiled at him. “You’re welcome. Come on, let’s get you settled in.”
She walked over to the kitchen and opened a cupboard. It was lined with boxes and cups filled with various toiletries in neat packaging. She pulled out a toothbrush and a little tube of toothpaste, along with some hotel-sized shampoo and conditioner bottles and a bar of soap.
“Let’s see, here’s some shower stuff. There’s a towel and washcloth in there already. Here’s a toothbrush and toothpaste. Do you want to shave?”
“Shave? This beard? What would people swear to, then? They can’t say ‘By Odin’s Beard!’ if Odin has no beard!”
“Alright, alright! No razor, then. Geez, men are so possessive of their facial hair. Here, at least take a comb and comb it out. Your hair, too.” He took the comb and toiletries and grumbled to himself. “Wait, wait! Don’t go yet! I’ve got new clothes for you too. Hold on.”
She ran to a closet by the door and pulled out a shopping bag. She gave it to Odin. He stared inside for a moment and then looked up at her with a tear in his eye.
“Oh, now don’t do that, or I’ll start crying,” she said, trying to choke back tears.
“Why are you doing this for me? A mad old man in the streets.”
“Because you’re my friend.”
He looked down at his feet. “I don’t deserve your kindness.”
“Oh, that’s nonsense. Go on, go shower so you’ll feel better. Second door on the left.” She pointed down a hallway that led away from the dining room table. He shuffled off and closed the door. A few moments later, Theo heard the shower turn on.
“Phew,” she sighed. She’d finally gotten him to come with her. It wasn’t the first time she had offered Odin her spare room. Practically every time it became available, she would go to him first. He always gave an excuse about going to some council meeting or going to observe the kingdom or the armory or the weapons vault or whatever crazy excuse he could come up with. She just chalked it up to his age. People of his generation were so stubborn when it came to accepting help from others.
She had bailed him out several times after he had been picked up for public intoxication or aggressive behavior or petty theft from dumpsters. The police had no other contact on file for him, so they normally just called her to pick him up. He was a drunk, sad, old man. She felt bad for him.
She turned to the kitchen and started pulling out pots and pans to make dinner. The skies were starting to darken, and tiny snowflakes were beginning to fall. She wished she had more rooms to take more people in. She had been doing this for a couple years now and had helped many people get back on their feet or find help. But when winter came, she always felt bad for not being able to do more.
After a while, the shower stopped, and Odin emerged in his new clothes. Theo had gotten him a few outfits: a flannel button down and some jeans, some sweatpants and a sweatshirt, and a nicer button down and slacks. He came out in the flannel and jeans.
She smiled at him. “How do you feel?”
“Better,” he said. He had combed his hair and beard. They were a much purer white now than the gray they had become with the grime. He was still wearing those filthy bandages over his eye.
“Oh, I nearly forgot. Take off those old bandages. I have an eyepatch for you.” She reached into the cupboard and pulled out a black eyepatch from a pharmaceutical bag. “Here,” she said, handing it to him.
“Thank you.”
“Is that a recent injury, Odin? Every time I’ve seen you, you’ve had those on but has anyone ever looked at it?”
“Oh, this old thing is centuries old. I received it far before your ancestors even thought of sailing to this land.”
“Right, well, let me look at it anyways.”
“No, it’s very ugly. You wouldn’t want to see it.”
“Odin, please. I’ve worked in an ER before. Believe me, I’ve seen a lot worse.”
“Are you a healer?”
“Ha, no. I just admitted people, but I learned a lot there from the nurses and doctors, so please, just let me look.”
He removed the bandages, revealing a jagged scar across where his eye had once been. The eye was long gone but the hole it left was expertly sealed. Theo examined it. She was surprised with how precise the surgery to the eye was. She hadn’t really seen anything like it but then again, she was no MD. It was clean and well healed and that’s what mattered.
“Alright, well try this on. I had one leftover from a while back. I think it adjusts.”
He pulled the strap over his head. “Why did you have a leftover eyepatch?”
“I got in a fight at the bar… with a door.”
“Did you win?”
“You should see the door,” she said, laughing.
“Ha! Well done!”
They laughed for a bit before Theo returned to the kitchen counter.
“What are you hungry for?” she asked. “I was thinking chicken and steamed veggies. How does that sound? No Thai. No curry.”
“That sounds wonderful.”
Theo cooked up the chicken and vegetables while Odin sat at the kitchen table and watched the storm move in. She plated their meal and served it to him, setting her plate down across from him. She returned to the cupboards for two glasses and poured them some water from the tap. She sat down across from Odin and started eating.
“Do you have any beer?” he asked, looking at the water.
She knew the question would come eventually. She was hoping that if she served him the water, he would drink it and not think about the beer.
“Why don’t you drink the water first, and eat, and then we can see if you’re still up for a drink.”
He nodded, though a bit disappointed. What sort of meal was served with water instead of beer or wine or mead? But, not wanting to seem rude, as he was her guest, after all, he nodded and ate. They ate quietly and listened as the wind began to pick up through the tall buildings.
“I’m really glad you decided to come with me, Odin. I was so worried you’d be stuck out in this. People die in storms like this, you know. I want you to stay here. You can stay as long as you need to.”
“That is very gracious of you, Lady Theo, but I know that Thor is coming for me soon.”
“Okay, well, in the meantime, I want you to stay here.”
He nodded at his finished plate. “Do you have any beer?”
Theo sighed. “Alright, you get one glass, okay.” She walked to the refrigerator and opened a can of Bud Light and poured it into a glass.”
She brought it over to him and he drank. He made a sour face and put the glass down. “Why don’t you people make good beer?”
“Well, that’s what I have, so.” He shrugged and drank the rest in one gulp. “We do need to go over some house rules, though, okay?” she said.
“Yes,” he said, giving his full attention to her.
“Rule number one: Don’t steal from me. That includes food and booze and anything else in this apartment. I do this because you’re my friend, but I won’t be taken advantage of.”
“Of course,” he replied.
“Rule number two: Don’t invite any friends over. My landlord looks for every excuse to boot me out of here and if you bring someone over, he’ll kick us both out on the streets.”
He nodded his agreement.
“Rule number three: No drugs. I know you have an alcohol problem and I’m happy to help you work on it, but drugs are a no-no in this house.”
“You won’t have to worry about it,” he said. “Wait, an alcohol problem? I don’t have an alcohol problem!”
“Odin, you told me you were the king of the dumpsters today with a half empty bottle of whiskey in your hand, which you then threw at me.”
“I found it like that,” he said, folding his arms. “And you startled me.”
“Right, well, we’re going to work on that.”
“Do you have any whiskey?”
“No,” she said, firmly.
“Mmm,” he grumbled.
Theo felt strange being so firm with him. Normally, when she invited a friend to live with her, it was their choice. When they accepted her help, they accepted her full help, which normally meant getting clean or sober and getting back on their feet again, regardless of their complaints or withdrawals. She helped them manage themselves and that was part of the deal. Since it was their choice, she didn’t feel bad being firm with them, but Odin never wanted to accept her help. Even still, he had come with her this time.
“Rule number four: Clean up after yourself. I’m a friend, not a maid.”
“You don’t have any servants?”
“No, Odin, I don’t have servants. Cleaning up after yourself builds character, just do it.”
He shrugged.
“Rule number five: No weapons in my house. No guns, no knives, no bludgeons, no nothing. Understand?
“Yes. Oh, what about staves?”
“No. No staves either.”
“Mmm,” he grumbled again.
“Understand?”
“Fine.”
“Rule number six: My room is off limits. You can go anywhere else in this apartment but do not go into my room. That’s my space. If I’m here, and you need something, feel free to knock just don’t let yourself in. Just common courtesy, you know?”
“Seems fair,” he said.
 “And I’ll respect your space as well. Just remember that rule number four applies to your room too.”
“Very well, what else?”
“Rule number seven: I’m putting my trust in you because I know you’re a good person. I just ask that you put your trust in me to help you.”
“That’s not a rule,” he said, smiling.
“No, but I would really like if you follow it.”
“I trust you, Lady Theo.”
“It’s just Theo, no ‘Lady’, please.”
“Very well.”
“That’s really all I have. I just want you to respect me and this house, to be honest. And I want you to be safe and off the streets.”
“I will accept your rules and agree to them. You are a very kind young woman, Theo. I am truly grateful to you.”
The wind whistled past the window outside, blowing thick flurries of snow against the windows. Odin watched somberly.
“Do you think my sons will come for me?” he asked after a while.
“Oh, Odin. I’m sure they will,” Theo said. She didn’t really believe it herself, but he seemed so saddened by the thought of being abandoned. “Do you have a way to contact them?”
“No. Not anymore,” he said.
“I’m sorry. Well, I’ll keep on the lookout for them. See if there’s anyone asking around for you. I’ll call my friends too and see if they know anything. In the meantime, we’ll wait here, okay?”
“Very well.”
When they were done eating, Theo cleared the table. After the servants comment, she thought Odin may have some trouble with rule number four. He watched her as she loaded the dishes into the dishwasher and washed out the pans she had cooked with. It was his first night here, so she didn’t care that much.
“Here, I’ll show you to your room, I mean, chambers,” she said, smiling at the way she had to talk to him.
“Oh, yes, thank you,” he said, standing.
She walked down the hall and pointed into the first room.
“This one is yours. There’s a bed and a desk and a lamp. The wifi is written down there on the bulleting board but I don’t think you have a phone, do you?”
“What’s a phone?”
“Right, well, don’t worry about that, then. Feel free to get settled in. I’ll be up for a while. You’re welcome to peruse the bookshelf in the living room if you want to read. I don’t have a tv though, I hope that’s alright.
“What’s a tv?” he asked.
She laughed. “Well, then don’t worry about that either. If you like to read, let me know. We can get you set up with a card at the library too.”
“Oh, that would be very nice. You know, I used to have my own library?”
“Did you?” she asked, folding her arms and leaning up against the doorframe.
“Yes, it was massive and marvelous. There were books from all nine of the realms there. Even yours.”
“Is that so? Sounds wonderful. Anything good from little old Midgard?”
“Well, I know your people are in love with that Shakespeare fellow but I rather preferred Sun Tzu.”
“You mean, The Art of War?”
“Yes, that’s the one.”
“Well, I guess it’s a good classic too. You didn’t like Shakespeare?”
“No, blah!” he said, sticking his tongue out. “Never cared too much for plays, myself. My queen did, though. She went to plays with our son, Loki, all the time.”
“Ah, well, I guess Shakespeare’s not for everyone. Anyways, feel free to look over my little library. It may not be as great as yours was but it’s got some good ones in there, I think.
“Oh, yeah. My room is down there at the end of the hall,” she said, pointing back across the living down the other hallway. “Linens are in this closet, here, but I’ve put fresh ones on your bed already. I think that’s everything. It’s a pretty small apartment. Especially, for how much I pay for it. But it’s cozy and warm.”
“Thank you, Theo,” he said. She could tell he was very grateful. His whole demeanor had changed. He seemed more content than the man that had thrown a whiskey bottle at her head a few hours ago. Maybe giving him a glass of alcohol a night would help him stabilize. She had heard of therapy for alcoholics that utilized that method.
She left him and walked to her room. Quietly, she closed the door behind her and undressed, getting into her pajamas. She sat on the bed for a while and answered emails on her laptop. The wind howled at the window. She closed her eyes.
She hated these storms. They reminded her of all the storms she had spent out on the street. She would never wish that on another person but she knew there were people out there now. She only hoped they had found somewhere warm to spend the night.
The first time Valkyrie Brunnhilde met Loki, he was nineteen. She was a beat cop back then, barely out of the academy. He had turned up at hospital on her shift badly beated and coming down from being high. At that time, no one had reported or knew about what happened a year previously. When she had gone to get his statement, she had quickly learned. Or least learned what Loki had felt divulging.
“My brother and I, we’ve been kidnapped.”
“By who?”
He had shook his head nervously. “You won’t believe me. You could be working for him. I shouldn’t have said anything. I-I just want to go home. Will you let me go home?”
“You said you were kidnapped. We’re not going to pump the breaks on something like that. Either you lied, which means I can arrest you for filing a false police report, or you tell me.” Looking back she knew she had been harsh with him. She was new, and hadn’t learned how to speak to victims.
Loki did however did tell her.
“The Grandmaster.”
“En Dwi Gast? The mob boss?”
“I knew you wouldn’t believe me.” He had sneered at her and nearly walked out of the hospital right then and there.
To this day, Val would never know how she had gotten him to stay. Possibly it was because the doctor refused to discharge Loki until he had spent a night for observation. Maybe it was because Loki knew this was his best shot at freedom. Whatever it was, she had gotten a small quick summary of the last year for the kid: he and his brother had been kidnapped from a bar while out celebrating. They had been kept in the basement of one of the eccentric mobster’s many homes for six months before being moved to one of his full floor penthouses.
“He leaves us with some of his men sometimes to be punished. He says he doesn’t like to see us hurt. I…I refused to…to give him head.”
“He’s raping you?”
“Both of us. Thor is still there. He left with him. To some other place. He separates us sometimes. When one of us is…when one of us doesn’t do as he says. You need to get Thor! Please! He’s my older brother and he’s always looked out for me! I’m adopted and…” He had looked away at that. “Please help.”
“I will, you have my word.”
[read more cut]
She had given him her information, promising to return with detectives and the full weight of the NYPD. When she did return the next morning with two detectives from SVU and one from Major Crimes, she found him gone. The doctor explained that Loki’s brother and ‘a family friend’ had came early in the morning and picked him up. He had gone willingly. Security video showed the ‘family friend’ to be a lieutenant of the Sakaar mob family.
“You’ll see him again,” the Major Crimes detective had assured her. “Or what’s left of him once they melt him down.”
That turned out not to be the case. For the next four years, Loki and Thor were frequent flyers in several ERs around the city. A few times Loki even requested her, and she would rush to see him. Half the time she barely caught sight of him as a another ‘family friend’ escorted him out. The other half, when she did see him, he was increasingly not willing to follow up on his first claim of being kidnapped.
“If I say anything, Thor could get hurt! Or worse! It happened the first time. He was so mad. He made Thor sleep in the basement after….,” he fiddled with the hospital gown. “Can you tell our parents…that we love them? And our sister. We’re okay, honest.”
“Loki,” Val had said gently, “you have a broken arm and bruises from head to toe and your came in here so fucking high you were nearly overdosing. You’re not okay.”
“Please.”
After that, Val switched tactics. Mostly because she had been promoted from beat cop to Narcotics, but also a feeling she needed to do something more. She leaked several of her interviews and notes about Loki and Thor to the press. After all, she reasoned, En Dwi Gast was a provocateur and press junkie. Exposed in such a way by the very journalists, pundits, and hosts whose attention he sought may make him slip up and lead to Loki and Thor being free.
That was not the case.
First, Loki was picked in a raid on a drug den owned by the Sakaar mob. He was overdosing and had to get his stomach pumped. On him, he still carried her card, so she was called on the assumption this was one of her informers.
It was at this point she met Thor for the first time. He had come to the hospital alone. It was hard to believe the tall muscular man was a prisoner. That was until he spoke. There was a hollowness in the eyes she was beginning to recognize from abuse victims and a stuttering in the voice at times. He seemed unable to truly stare at her directly, speaking to a tile right behind her head. When he spoke to Loki is was heartbreaking.
“I could have lost you. I’d be alone…with Him.”
“I didn’t mean…I just wanted to forget for a little while.”
“Not like that. Never like that. Promise me, you will throw everything away.”
“I-”
“For me?”
Neither wanted to speak about Grandmaster.
“He’s….we’re his companions.” Thor told the bedside cabinet.
They left the hospital in a cab they hired, their destination was the Gladiator Hotel.
After that, they were seen often. By everyone in New York. They were beside the Grandmaster as he opened up a new wrestling stadium. They joined him on calls to the most popular radio call and morning talk shows in town. They were with him at art galleries, opera houses, and sporting events. They smiled and cuddled close as cameras flashed. They flirtatiously bantered.
“So Loki about those articles-”
“Oh God!”
“Claiming you were kidnapped-”
“Oh I remember this now-”
“Lies and lies! Utter shi-”
“Uh Lo Lo there’s kids listening. It’s a family show!”
“We were talking about morning sex like two minutes ago. No, but to answer your question, I honestly don’t know where people get this nonsense!”
“Like my supposed ties to the Russian mob, like honestly!”
“Apparently you’ve been in the hospital-”
“I’m a recovering addict! What I did is in the past!”
That exchange happened the day she was transferred to Major Crimes. Val remembered listening to it with a few other detectives, feeling sick in her stomach. It would be a year into her transfer that she finally told her new partner about her history with the ‘Grandmaster’s boys".
“Fuck. I mean, y'know you did everything you could right,” Bruce Banner said from over his plate.
“Apart from killing the bastard.”
“Gast has been doing all sort of shit for twenty five years. I bet these two aren’t his first…boys.”
“Has he kept them this long before though?”
“I honestly don’t know. You said their Odin Valhalla’s kids, right? Maybe, he’s using them to get to the Dad?”
“I honestly think in he some twisted fucked up way thinks he loves them. Like he a kid loves his toys…”
Three more years passed. Val kept most articles about Loki and Thor, any that had even a shred of ambiguity. She tried to get in contact with Odin, the famous attorney. At first, he politely refused to speak about ‘private family matters’. After his wife died, however, he threatened to have her charged with harassment.
It was freezing day in January. The sun barely warmed anyone as it shone down. Val had stopped at Starbucks and had picked her usual latte and Bruce’s tea. She had barely sat down the tray and asked about the daily reports when her desk phone rang.
“Is this Officer Valkyrie Brunnhilde?”
“Detective, but yes.”
“This is Dr Jane Foster…do you know a Loki Valhalla?”
She nearly dropped the phone. “Yes.”
“He’s here an-”
“How long has he been there?”
“Three days.”
“Is he….dead?”
“Oh no! He’s um…he’s in recovery. He was dropped in front of the ER. He was barely conscious and severely injured. We feared we could have lost time for awhile. When he woke up, he asked for you. Are you his next of kin?”
“Right now, yes. Give the address.” She made motions to Bruce to hand over a pad of paper and pen. She wrote it down hastily. “You wanna go take down Sakaar?”
“I don’t even get to enjoy my tea?”
“I’ll drive. Call this number. It’s to Hela Valhalla. Tell her she needs to call meet me tonight. Usual place.”
“Now I’m a secretary!” But he was smiling. “What do we got?”
“We got Loki. He’s been in the hospital for two days. No lawyers, no thugs, no Gast.”
“No Thor?”
“Nope. We have to go. Now.”
A/N: This is terrible but I want to actually write so HERE YA GO
~The Angel of Death~
Ship: Max X Hela
Warnings: Guns, Gang Violence, Gun wound, Blood, Violence, Organized Crime, Death of Minor Character, Death of Major Character, Emotional Abuse, Parental Abuse
Part Two - Fate is Cruel
Hela landed on her feet as she Bifrost light faded. She had told Heimdall to deliver her to where Max has last been seen, she hadn’t liked the look on his face when he told her he would do so.
Her silhouette landed over a man, crouched over what looked like the body of a blue haired girl, Max. The man was looking up at Hela with awe and fear obvious in his eyes, Hela smiled, she loved this part, “What have you done to her, pathetic mortal?” She felt the rage build in her, coming into being with magic leaking from her hands.
“W-who the fuck are you?” The man’s voice shook as he spoke. He had one of his guns pointed up at her. She almost wanted him to fire it, just so he could watch it be dodged before getting gutted like the animal he was.
“I’m the Goddess of Death, and that,” She gestured to Max, “is mine, and I don’t like it when ants damage my things.” She flicked her hand, one of her swords springing into being.
The man began backing away from Max’s body, the gun still shaking in his hand. Hela could almost smell his delicious fear. She could almost hear the blood rushing in his veins, begging to be spilled. The way his breathing was panicked and heavy, terrified of her. She took a few steps forward, “DON’T COME CLOSER! I WILL SHOOT!”
Hela laughed, high and cruel, “I forget how pathetic you human males are. Whimpering children, upset that you have consequences for the disgusting behaviors your elders enabled.” She raised an arm as the gun fired only to hear the sharp TWAP of the bullet meeting her armor and clinking quietly against the ground. Hela laughed.
“W-What the hell? What are you?”
The Goddess launched herself forward, pinning the man to the nearest vehicle by his throat, the window shattering with the force the man’s head impacted it. The man whined in pain, Hela laughed again, her face pulled into it’s sadistic grin. She could feel his heart fluttering pathetically though his pulse, she squeezed, making the man wriggle and squeak in terror, “Do you fear death, little man?”
He didn’t have time to answer before Hela’s blade slashed and he was choking on his own blood.
Once the human was dealt with Hela turned, her helm falling, releasing her long dark hair. She all but fell to Max’s side, gently sliding her arms under the girl and lifting her. Max’s face was slack and her skin was cold. The empty feeling soaked into Hela in a way she really didn’t like. She shouldn’t have got involved. She should have stayed her distance and observed like Heimdall had warned her too. Emotional Investment to such fleeting creatures led to only heartbreak. She looked up to the night sky above and called quietly, “Heimdall take me back.”
The Bifrost crashed around her like a great wave. Bridge Travel was always cold, but it seemed more so as she held Max’s body. This wasn’t the first time Hela had held her, she already knew that the girl was lighter than she should be, like a bird of prey’s feather. Deadly, beautiful, but just as flimsy as the downy counterpart. Her Max was deadly. Reputations didn’t come from nothing. Of course Hela had helped that reputation bloom, but Max maintained it and wore it with ease. The Bifrost grew slightly more blinding as they arrived in the Observatory. Heimdall standing tall looked at Hela and frowned deeper, “You know humans cannot come to Asgard, General.”
“I know.” Hela nodded, as if Heimdall had just told her the weather.
“Then why bring the mortal here,” He raised a brow at Hela’s tone.
“She is mine.”
“She is dead.”
“And I am the Goddess of Death.”
“Thinking yourself a god is dangerous.”
“Then it is a good thing I like danger,” Hela snapped. Heimdall didn’t reply. Hela was volatile at best, catastrophic at worst, just how Odin had raised her. She didn’t like questions about her motives or decisions. Her father didn’t enjoy it either. Stubborn Righteous Indignation seemed to be a family trait, “Do you remember that cottage on Vanaheim that Mother would take me to as a child?”
“Of course, My General.”
“Send us there, Tell Dear Old Dad I am seeing to personal matters.”
Heimdall nodded and lifted his sword for a moment, “Hela, I say this as your friend, Be careful, For both your sakes. Fate is a cruel force. Many things hinder on this moment.”
Hela looked at The Gatekeeper, he had been her confidant for a very long time now, one of the only people who didn’t seem to be deeply afraid of her. He had advised her many times, if cryptically, and been one of the only people who could cool her temper when needed. Heimdall was one of the few people Hela actually trusted. She looked down at the girl in her arms, taking a deep breath, “I won’t let anything take her from me.”
Heimdall dropped his sword and activated the Bifrost, the golden electric Yggdrasil flashing into being before Hela turned and walked back into the blinding light.
Please do write about those asks sent to you regarding the baby/children/pregnancy
I did a child, during Ragnarok, as the previous asks have said. I hope you like it! It doesn’t show a lot of dad interaction until the end though.
Warnings: None?
Words: 2672
You stand there awkwardly, holdingyour son’s hand. You have no idea why Odin insisted on you standing there,watching a play about your husband’s death. “Mommy, I don’t wanna watch.” Youlook down at him sadly.
“Neither do I, sweetheart.” Youlift him up and he wraps his small arms around your neck. You feel Odin’s eyeson you, but you don’t look up. These four years have been strange as Odinsometimes over stepped and acted more as a lover than as a father-in-law. Youjust tried to keep your son away from him as much as possible.
“Lady (Y/n).” You turn and smilesadly.
“Thor, it’s good to have you back.”You hug him tightly and try to swallow the tears that want to come.
“What is this?” He indicates theplay.
“I have no idea.” You shake yourhead sadly. “Can’t they just let my husband rest?”
“I don’t believe he’s dead, (Y/n).”You frown and glare at him.
“Then why hasn’t he come back to usyet?” Loki had lost his way, but even he wouldn’t just abandon you to raise hisson alone, right? “Thor, what’s going on?”
“You’ll see.” Thor stalks up to hisfather and you watch horrified.
“Mommy, what’s Uncle Tor doings?”You smile as your son tries to pronounce Thor’s name. Th’s are still difficult.
“I don’t know, my dear.” You keephim close, afraid of what he’ll see. Thor throws his hammer and grabs Odin’sneck. You gasp and press your son’s face against you, so he won’t see anything.“Thor, don’t!” You yell.
“Okay, I yield!” Odin changes intoLoki and is released by Thor. You glare at your husband, completely and utterlybetrayed.
“Loki, you asshole!” You stomp upto him, your son still clinging to your neck, and slap him. “What the hell wereyou thinking? If you were alive, why didn’t you tell anyone? I mourned yourdeath! I raised Eric all by myself!” You have tears streaming down your face.“I can’t believe you!” Your son stares at him, confused about who hisgrandfather turned into. Loki takes a step toward you. “Don’t.” You shake yourhead. “Don’t come near us.” You turn and leave as your chest constricts.
“Mommy, who is tat?” You look atyour son sadly.
“Your father.” You stop at abalcony and cry.
“No, mommy, don’t cry!” Eric triesto wipe your tears as he starts crying too. You sink to the floor and keep Eric close in your lap. “Daddy is back.Why are you sad?”
You try to take a deep breath andcalm down. “(Y/n).” You look up and see your husband. “I have no excuse for myactions.”
“No, you don’t.” You glare at him.“I have been alone, missing you, for four years.” Loki sits next to you andpulls you to his side. “No, Loki, I can’t do this again.”
“I’m taking Thor to Odin. When Ireturn, I will make this right.” He kisses your temple.
“Loki, I don’t think there isanything you can do to take away this pain.” You whisper. Eric is cryingagainst me and Loki takes him from my arms.
“No, mommy!” He struggles, but Lokiholds him to his chest.
“Eric, your daddy is trying tocomfort you.” He whispers. “Can you give daddy a hug?”
Eric looks at Loki and frowns.“No.” You smile sadly at the pain on Loki’s face. “I want mommy! You made mommycry!” You hold your arms out and Loki returns your son to you.
“Eric, it’s okay. I’m right here.”You kiss his forehead. You look at Loki and cup his cheek. “We will talk whenyou return.” Loki leans in to kiss you, but you turn your head, so he kissesyour cheek. “There’s a lot we need to discuss.” Loki feels as if someonestabbed his chest. He just lost the trust of the one person in the nine realmsthat stood by his side.
“I will make this right.” Lokistands and pulls you up with him. He pulls you to his chest and you startcrying again.
“You say that every time!”
“I know.” He sighs and kisses yourforehead. “I didn’t know I was causing this much pain.”
You resist the urge to slap himagain. “Of course, I was in pain. My husband, the only man I loved and trusted,was dead!”
“Loki, we need to go.” Thor pullsLoki away from you and you watch him leave again.
“I will return to you.” You shakeyour head sadly.
“I’ll believe it when I see it.”You walk the palace grounds as Eric asks questions about Loki. “Your father…wasalways the outsider.” You hold his hand as you walk. “He played pranks to getattention.” You sigh and look out a window. “Well, it worked with me.”
“How?” Eric looks at you curious.
You smile. “Your father had turnedinto a snake to scare me.” Eric smiles. “But, he didn’t know I loved them. So,when I saw your father as a snake, I scooped him up and cuddled him.”
“What did he do?”
You laugh. “Your father turned backinto himself as I was cuddling him, and I fell from his weight. He was on topof me and I stared at him surprised.” You feel yourself blush. “I was soembarrassed; I avoided your father for an entire week after that.”
“What happened ten?” You stop andsit on a bench with Eric next to you.
“Your father…” You sigh as youremember that night at a feast. “Your father looked for me at a feast one nightand asked to dance with me. I had no idea how to dance and made a fool out ofmyself.”
“You dance nice, mommy!” Ericexclaims, as if that was the important part of the story. You laugh.
“Oh, sweetheart, daddy had me takelessons after that night.” You smile. “And, well, your father just kept findingme and soon I fell in love with him.” You poke your son’s nose. “And then wehad you and I couldn’t have been more happy to have you in my life, darling.”
“My queen.” A soldier bows in frontof you. You stand, shocked by the title. “An intruder as entered Asgard, wemust get you to safety.” You look at Eric worriedly.
“Where are Thor and Loki?” Youfrown. “And I’m not your queen.”
“You are, my queen.” He looks downat you. “The princes were supposedly killed. That makes you queen.” Your chestconstricts. Loki was now apparently dead again?!
“Take Eric and hide him. I willstay here.” You hand your son over. “Eric, listen to him very carefully and donot try to find me.”
“No, mommy!” He starts crying.
“Hush, darling.” You wipe histears. “I will see you soon, but I need you to be very brave, okay?” He nods,but still has tears in his eyes. “Go, protect him.” You change into your battlearmor and sit on the throne, waiting for the intruder.
“My queen, you must come alongtoo!” The guard insists.
“No, if I leave, who will protectthe throne?” You look at him with determination. “It is my duty to sit andconfront whoever is attacking us, is it not?”
“It is…” Something in his eyeslooks like grief. “But, you will die.” You close your eyes.
“Then it will be an honorabledeath.” You hear fighting right outside the throne room. “Go, now, while youcan.” You watch him take off with your son in his arms, not sure if you willsee him again. A woman barges through the door and you look at her as if youare bored. “And you are….?”
“Your queen.” You raise youreyebrows and look around.
“I’m sorry, but am I not the onesitting on the throne? I am yourqueen.” You glare down at the woman. “What makes you think you have a claim tothis?”
“I am Hela, Odin’s first born.” Shestalks up to you, angry.
“Yeah, well, no one even knows whoyou are. I would try another realm.” You don’t stand and stare her down. “I amtheir queen; thanks to you, I might add.”
“How?” She snarls. “Did father havea fourth child?” You laugh.
“No, no, he only had two, well one?Then the adopted one… it’s all confusing.” You smirk. “He had two sons, and I’mthe wife of one of them.” You study her. “I had hoped you really didn’t kill myhusband. He was so good with politics, but, hey, I thought he’s been dead forthe past four years. What is the difference now?”
She glares at you. “Loki was yourhusband.”
“And she gets it right!” You smiledown at her, menacingly. “Get out of my throne room. Get out of Asgard. And Iwill let you live.”
“Who do you think you are?”
“I’m (Y/n), wife to the god ofmischief, and I have learned a thing or two from my husband.”
She sighs. “Fine, I will kill youtoo.” You flip up and kick her in the face.
“It’s on, bitch.” You draw yourswords and parry every swing of her swords. “You have no idea what kind of rageI’ve been building on these past four years!” You manage to slice open her leg,but she kicks you down.
“And you seem to not understand whoyou’re fighting.” Hela pins you down. “I’m the goddess of death.”
“Okay?” You shrug. You have nothingleft to lose, so accepting death isn’t a big deal.
“Don’t you want to live?”
“Why? You already killed myfamily.” You look away sadly, hoping to convince her.
“I have a better idea.” Sheshackles you to the throne. “You will be displayed as a warning to my subjectsthat the others have fallen.
You smirk and laugh. “Kinky.”
“What?” Hela glares at you.
“Nothing, I just am a sarcasticasshole who makes inappropriate comments at the wrong time, my husband seemedto have rubbed off on me, please continue.” You see her study you, as if todetermine if you were insane or not. “But, what subjects will you have if youkill everybody?”
“You know what, I think you wouldbe better off in the dungeon.” She smirks and grabs your chains.
“Oooo, extra kinky.” You smirk asshe jerks your chains. If it is one thing you’re really good at, it’s makingpeople uncomfortable. You find yourself in your husband’s old cell. “I’m sorry,sister. You really are a bitch.”
“This way, if the princes havesurvived somehow, they won’t find you.”
“Eh, I don’t count on them savingme anyways.” You shrug and sit in a chair.
“Not even your husband?” Helaraises an eyebrow.
“Especially my husband.” You glaredown at her. “Loki would be glad to be rid of me. He would be free to dowhatever he pleased.”
“You think so lowly of a husbandthat used his last words to beg Thor to protect you?”
You laugh. “Now I know you’re either lying or he’s notdead, because he would never use his dying breath to say my name.”
“And who’s name would he use?” Youstudy her.
“His own; he’d make some stupidmonologue about how amazing he was.” You smile. “He’s dramatic like that.”
“You really are as crazy as you sound.”Hela turns to leave.
“You have no idea.” You smirk withyour legs crossed and watch her retreat. “I will get out of here.”
Several days have passed as youpace your cell. Is Eric okay? Has Hela found and killed him? You start toworry, but you can’t indicate you have a son. She will hunt him down if sheknows.” You don’t look up as the door to the dungeon opens. “(Y/n).” Youswallow and look up to meet the eyes of the man you were sure abandoned you.
“It’s not possible.”
Loki chuckles. “It is. I will getyou out of here.”
“No, you have to find Eric.” Youbeg him. “Find our son and protect him with your life. Forget about me!”
“Eric is safe on our ship. Don’tyou worry about that.” He opens your cell and you stumble into his arms. “I’m takingyou to our son, my love.”
“Loki, stay with me.” You sob. “I can’tdo this anymore.”
“I know, darling.” He kisses you gently.“We have to go.” Loki pulls you out of the dungeon and into the weapons’ vault.
“What are we doing here?” Lokigrabs Surtur’s skull. “Loki! What the hell are you doing?” You are panicking. “You’regoing to start Ragnarok!”
“That’s the plan.” He throws itinto the fire and whispers words you cannot hear.
“Loki!” It starts moving and Lokigrabs the tesseract. “Loki are you insane?!” He grabs your arm and whispers tothe cube and you two find yourselves on a ship. You are clinging onto him as ifyou were afraid he’d disappear.
“I’m here now, darling.” He kissesyour forehead and hides the cube. “Let’s go find our son.” You cry and Loki hasto comfort you. “My dearest wife, our son is safe and well.”
“Mommy! Daddy!” You hear Eric callout to you and you hold out your arms. He runs to you and you scoop him up intoyour arms.
“Eric, you’re safe!” You cryagainst him. “My gods, you stayed safe.” Loki pulls you two to his chest. “Oh,my darling boy!” He smiles as Eric clings to you desperately.
“He’ll be okay, my love.” Lokiwipes your tears and you look up at him.
“Thank you.”
“I will always protect our family.”He lifts your chin to kiss your lips gently, and this time you don’t turn away.“I love you, (Y/n). And our son is finally warming up to me.” You laugh.
“Of course, he is your son.” You letEric cling to his father and smile. “I told him how you got my attention.”
“The snake?” Loki chuckles. “Yes, Ireally surprised your mommy that that day.” He smiles at Eric. “Did she tellyou about how she kept stepping on my feet while we danced in front of the wholekingdom?” You flush with embarrassment.
“You butt.” You sigh. “I told him Iwas not a good dancer, but I didn’t give him the details.”
“Your mommy was so confused by dancingthat it was all I could do to keep up with her.” You smack his arm playfully. “Andthen your mommy avoided me again for a month after that. I had to track herdown just to greet her.”
“Why did you want to find her?” Ericlooks at Loki.
“Because she was the mostbeautiful, kind, sweet woman I have ever known.” Loki looks into your eyes. “Andwhen I met her that day, I knew I had to win her heart.” You smile and hug him.
“You did, you butt.” Loki chucklesand kisses you gently. “I love you, Loki.”
“I love you too, (Y/n). And, I’mnot running anymore.”
“You better not.” You glare up athim as he laughs. Eric giggles and nuzzles Loki’s neck, tired from thestressful days. “It seems we all need rest.” You smile and Loki shows you to aroom.
“Here, my dear.” He lays Eric onthe bed and you lay next to him. Loki joins you on the other side. “Sleep well,sweetheart. I am not going anywhere.”
“Good night, my darling prince.” Youwhisper and kiss him. “Good night, sweet son.”
“Good night mommy.” Eric curls up againstyour chest and Loki smiles.
“He’s perfect.”
“I know.” You look at him sadly. “Whereare we going?”
“Earth.” You nod. “I don’t think it’sa good idea, but we are out of options.”
“I know.” You kiss him. “We’ll makethis work, as long as we’re together.”
