Thoughts on the popular fandom take that loki never killed anyone pre thor 1?
Well, it's not my head canon, but I guess it doesn't make me roll my eyes too hard. I find it incredibly unlikely that Loki had never killed anyone before for two reasons: 1) Asgard is a warrior culture and we have canon references to battles that Thor and the W4 have been in. Occam's Razor here—it's reasonable to believe Loki fought in those battles too, even if he isn't explicitly mentioned. And 2) Tom Hiddleston does not play the battle on Jotunheim like it's Loki's first time killing someone. Loki is presented in that scene as a highly competent fighter.
"But Aurora!" you might say. "That was just the adrenaline! Later, killing someone for the first time would hit him!" And while sure, that may be true (I have never killed anyone or been in combat so I can't offer any firsthand experience), the popular portrayal of a soldier's first time taking a life is that it's a very difficult moment. If Loki was just caught up in the battle, driven by adrenaline, and we were supposed to believe it was his first time killing anyone, wouldn't Branagh have given us a scene of Loki struggling with that? Because we get quite a few scenes of Loki struggling with things after returning from Jotunheim...killing Jotuns in combat isn't one of those things.
If we're going to go down the "Loki never killed anyone pre-Jotunheim battle" road, let's think about point 2 for a second. What does that say about Loki that he's never killed anyone before, and suddenly he does, and it doesn't appear to bother him in the slightest? When we see that so many other things bother Loki quite a bit? If you want to head canon Loki as a sensitive soul who hates killing, you're actually undermining it by insisting Loki hasn't ever killed before.
And as someone who does head canon Loki as a sensitive soul who hates killing, my head canon is that he's been in multiple battles and wars, that he despises it, but that he's learned to shove those feelings down.
You know, now that I've written this whole thing, I think I'm rolling my eyes at people head canoning that Loki's never killed pre-Thor 1, after all.

8. Loki & Mobius going undercover and dressing up
9. A pie date AND a carnival date
10. Loki eating food just because their boyfriend Mobius likes it even though Loki clearly don’t
11. Mobius and Loki teaming up & causing mischief
12. Tandem bike scene
13. SO MANY bickering like an old married couple and everyone around them just going “what the hell”
14. “It’s got your shape to it“ “What do mean it’s got my shape, it’s in a suit it could be anybody” + sylvie being 100% done w/ them
15. Loki and Mobius always shifting closer to each other like magnets
16. Mobius encouraging Loki’s mischief
17. Whatever the fuck episode 5 was
18. Flustered Loki
19. Loki fixing up their appearance (fit check) before meeting their crush
20. Mobius Don dropping hints that he’s single and straight up flirting with the hot stranger
21. “Hello” “Hello” “Hi” “Hey”
22. “You saved my life when I first arrived. You saw something in me that I hadn’t seen in myself”
23. Mobius’s kids bike being red & green (Loki’s and Thor’s color)
24. The fond smiles
25. Mobius offering up his jet ski in a heartbeat
26. Loki time slipping to Mobius time and time again
27. “It’s about who” with Loki looking at mobius for 10 seconds before they said the line
28. Don’t even get me started about the “For you” scene

So I have been playing a lot of Marvel Rivals this week and I would like to talk about the design choices for Asgard a bit and share some screenshots I took.
As you can see they styled most of the "Yggsgard" outdoor map after the MCU version of Asgard. Really cool to just be able to walk around there. Of course, the areas used for battle have a really different layout and the interior design is also completely different from both the comics and the MCU.
For example, this is what they did with the throne, which is more reminicent of what they did with Asgard in Ragnarok and after, which I personally dislike a bit. On that note, the infamous Loki statue also makes a return and there is a reward for destroying it. Fun fact: in the Jeff's Winter Splash Festival game mode, it is turned into an ice statue.
Character design wise they take inspiration from both the comics and the MCU and add their own flair. I'm sure you've seen Loki's redesign already, but I wanted to show a picture of both Loki and Thor as kids that you can find in one of the spawn areas.
Loki has the "Kid Loki" look from the comics (yes I know the show tried to retcon it, but I don't see OG!MCU!Loki wearing that outfit as a child, sorry comic fans). But that was definitely what young!MCU!Thor was wearing in one of the first scenes in Thor 1 and I think Frigga also looks more like she does in the movies. Odin visually seems a bit more like in the comics, though. So do with that information what you want.
Anyway, it's a ton of fun being able to just wander about Asgard. In the game it's been merged with Yggdrasil for some reason, which is why it's called Yggsgard. But still, I like how much inspiration they took from the MCU. Probably because it's design for Asgard is more iconic.
#I will elaborate on characterisation later#spoiler: it's a very mixed bag for me with some definite improvements from what we've seen in the MCU lately#but also some things that just make we want to bang my head into a wall due to mischaracterisation#I think it is more comics/cartoons inspired though so I'm not going to judge it for adhering to OG!MCU canon or anything#asgard#loki#thor#marvel rivals

Something about Thor and Loki both being jealous of each other is so perfectly dysfunctional. It would create such a deep narrative.
Loki is jealous of Thor because he’s a firstborn and a trueborn, he’s a stronger warrior, he’s the ideal of Asgardian masculinity. Those are the traits that make Odin favour him.
Thor is jealous of Loki because he’s smarter intellectually and emotionally, he’s more talented in seiðr, he’d make a better king. Those are the traits that make Frigga favour him.
They hold their strengths close to the chest, never extending them to uplift each other. They are competing for their parents’ love, because they can’t be equal in their eyes. Someone has to be favoured, someone has to be neglected. This competition isolates them, the jealousy festers and poisons their relationship, they become estranged.
When their parents die, they talk to each other honestly for the first time in centuries and confess that they were always jealous of each other. No, it’s can’t be, it is I who was jealous of you, how could you be jealous of me?
They reconcile and turn their mutual jealousy into mutual admiration, because there is nothing to compete for. They learn to be with instead of against each other. They learn to use their strengths to protect each other’s weaknesses. They heal.
#headcanon that is canon in my head#dysfunctional family is my favorite trope if you didn’t notice#but it has to come with healing and happy ending#thor#loki#odin’s a+ parenting#frigga’s b+ parenting#they both fucked up

I HAVE ANOTHER VISION AND YES IT'S ALSO ABOUT GRAVITY FALLS BECAUSE THIS SILLY LITTLE SHOW HAS TAKEN OVER MY LIFE AND I'M GOING THROUGH THE HYPERFIXATION I DIDN'T GO AS A KID. Ok, so since Gravity Falls is a Disney show and Marvel is owned by Disney, that means a crossover could TECHNICALLY be cannon, right? Especially with all that multiverse stuff that happens in both. So, imagine Ford in an alternate universe finding the cave in Gravity Falls and finds the writing and goes like "wow, this is warning me that I shouldn't say this incantation aloud. Who am I to question such an ominous warning?" And then TVA kidnaps him because "that wasn't supposed to happen, you were supposed to say that incantation" so they send him in the Void. He spends the next 30-40 years there and becomes part of the team against Cassandra. I imagine he'd be one of the longest residents of the Void that have managed to survive and that he would have crossed paths with Cassandra more than once due to that. Maybe he's even come across the Lokis.
"*Gasps* Omg, Stanford Pines??? Now that is DEFINITELY a crossover I never saw coming. Damn, the fans were right, he really is daddy material." -Wade
#wade openly commenting on ford's sexiness and ford being oblivious and irritated at his behavior (logan is NOT jealous no he is NOT)#i am cooking#i'm once again cooking#imagine ford spending the next 40 years of his life trying to return back to his universe#one part of me thinks that he would miss stan#maybe he would forgive him because there are more important things in the void than a stupid broken project#but realistically like in canon i don't think he would forgive him#because he's still ford. not OUR ford but he's still ford. and our ford didn't forgive stan after 30 years old dimension traveling#so i doubt this one would#maybe he would blame him even more#because in his head ford thinks that had he not broken his project he would never to gf and tva would never capture him#speaking of stan what do you think happened to him? because in this universe they never meet bill which means no letter since ford is gone#do you think he remained homeless? do you think he managed to turn his life around? is he in prison? is he even ALIVE?#i am cooking y'all#gravity falls#stanford pines#grunkle ford#disney#marvel#mcu#loki series#loki tva#deadpool 3#deadpool and wolverine#deadpool#wade wilson#wolverine#logan howlett#poolverine#cassandra nova

sometimes i get reminded of source material and go "yeah, whatever loser, the Little Guy In my Head would NEVER" and then remember that the little guy in my head is not interpreted by me correctly on purpose and he would in fact, in canon, do that
(but the little guy in my head would NEVER)
#i'm tired and idk if this is going to be coherent#but I think that there's a wild difference between fanon loki and canon loki and i only like fanon loki#but like idk not mad?#it's just kinda how it is#the loki in canon will never be the one i write in fics or enjoy in fics and like yeah#that's fine#canon loki is just such a mess narratively and trying to follow his thoughts through from start to finish is like “????” for...five(?)#movies and tv series straight#i just think that it's fine if you like a fanon version of a character because if it's good enough#it's gonna get regurgitated in other fics and that's fine and fun#but that doesn't mean that's what they'd do in canon?#or that canon doesn't make sense for the character even if you personally don't like it yknow?#idk man i like soft caring loki whose a gentle guy sue me#the little guy in my head would NEVER

There has to have been at least one person on the creative team for Loki that was like “hey if we do all this, it will look queer. Like very gay.” And they definitely shot that person down with the “not everything has to be gay” and the “we’re just trying to show a strong healthy male friendship! :)”
Bro warned them defo.
They defo didn’t listen.
#literally man#if you wanna spend more sweet/emotional time with your man compared to your wife#maybe it’s your man bff whom you are romantically attracted to#it’s not your fault#that society didn’t even let you have mildly vulnerable friendships tho#it’s just… made it hard for you to realize you are probs comp-het AF#loki#lokius#loki mobius#loki and mobius#breaking toxic masculinity goes hand in hand with breaking out of compulsive heterosexuality#n I don’t wanna hear#but they made Loki canonically bi#bc#do the main head writers even know what it is to be queer?#I looked them up and found nothing of any queer experience on their end#if you don’t experience it you can’t write it well

hot take: i need spideypool and lokius to go on a double date.
#you guys don't understand#i need to see these four together like i need to see lokius with aziracrow#loki and deadpool bickering across the table#mobius and spider-man shaking their heads fondly#getting heart eyes when their partners are getting excited about something#loki realizing he has a lot of things in common with deadpool#that they've both been seen as villains#that they haven't been dealt the best hands in the game#i mean wade was a mercenary before he even became deadpool for a reason#and loki was ostracized by his father and other people around him his whole life#loki was ripped off his timeline and wade was ripped off his autonomy after the mutation#but in the end they got to meet people who believed in them when no one else did#mobius saw a good person in loki even though he knew him the best#meanwhile spider-man did the same for deadpool after getting over his preconceptions and knowing him#this is canon btw google spider-man/deadpool comics#they've found comfort in each other through the pain#and anyway. i just think it'd be really neat#more than that i need loki to be in deadpool 3#deadpool#loki#spider-man#wade wilson#peter parker#loki laufeyson#mobius#mobius m. mobius#lokius#spideypool#deadpool 3

Abt this funny post summing up tje avengers movie. Do u have meta on what loki was doing in the first avengers relating to "not actually wanting to win the battle of new york" idk
I guess I don't really have meta, because I don't really subscribe to that theory? At least not in the sense that you often see people talk about it, where he throws the battle on purpose. I guess what I think is that deep down, some part of him knew Thanos had brainwashed him. Maybe, subconsciously, he didn't fight to his full ability?
I guess an analogy would be like, professional sports players. Their job is to win games, but maybe their heart isn't totally, 100% in every game for whatever reason. Maybe sometimes they even want to be traded, which, obviously, they need to play well for another team to want them, but maybe their lack of commitment to their current team means they don't play to their full potential.
One of my head canons about Loki is how desperately he hates the idea of choice being taken away from him. So I don't think he would have purposefully lost the Battle of NY, because I don't think he would have wanted to admit that Thanos was controlling him in any capacity. He'd rather be a monster than have control over his own mind or actions taken away from him. This is covered pretty heavily in my fic Here, Here and Here, and to some extent in Afterimage, as well.
