Even on a concept album whose main theme is death, “I’ll Follow You Into The Dark” is a standout moving song about the transcendental power of love, even when that boundary is death. This song was recorded unexpectedly while the band was having technical difficulties in studio. Chris Walla, Death Cab for Cutie’s lead guitarist and producer, said the following. “We were going to track the vocal for another song and there was something screwy happening with the headphone mix. We were having problems, so I said, “Ben, this is gonna be a few minutes. Take a break.” Ben’s version of taking a break while we addressed the headphone problem was to pick up this Stella guitar that he loves and start playing this song we were planning on recording sometime later during the sessions. He was still coming through the vocal mic as he was playing this, and it was sounding really cool to me, so I went up and said, “Let’s track this real quick,” and we did and that’s what’s on the record. It was a mono recording with no effects. Nothing. I added a little compression and de-essed it a bit. It’s really weird. It’s totally there and it’s happening.”

Originally written for Dionne Warwick by Burt Bacharach and Hal David in 1966, Aretha and her ‘Sweet Inspirations’ were fooling around before a show and warming up by singing “Say A Little Prayer” when it became obvious that they should make their own version. A second chance for Bacharach who wasn’t happy with his original version and told the L.A Times: “I thought I blew it. The tempo seemed too fast. I never wanted the record to come out. So what happens? They put out the record and it was a huge hit. I was wrong.” Although Aretha’s never quite reached the fame of Warwick’s version, it did reach 10 on the Hot 100 chart and 3 on the R&B chart. Even Bacharach finds Aretha’s version more pleasing: “Aretha just made a far better record.”

I will follow you into the dark-undertale.

I did a series in undertale with lyrics from the song above by "Death Cab for a cutie" as chapter and story titles, a bit back.

And I want to see if I can explain the order I did them in.

Story below

First, I'm posting the words here, then will try to break it down.

Right away, you might notice that three story titles are from the middle verse. "Held my tounge", "Fear is the heart of love", and "So I never went back"

"Waiting for the hint of a spark" comes from the last line of the first verse, and " "In the blackest of rooms" comes from the last line of the third one.

Fear is the first one in the series and its chapter titles come from the second half of the chorus.

Blackest of rooms, the king Papyrus one has the rest of the lines from the last verse, ending with its title.

Waiting for the hint of a spark, covers the later half of the first verse.

Held my tounge uses the middle verse, exempting the words used as titles

So I never went back, is a little weird. It does the first half of the chorus, and then loops back to the begining of the song. There is a reason for that.

Anyway "Fear is the heart of love" I felt was an apt title for the genocide route, given the double meaning of Love in game.

I like the order I put them in chronologically, but theres another way to read them by order of the song, which I found made a neat narriation. Starting with "waiting for the hint of a spark" as the first line to come up in the song, would be about frisk on the neutral runs. Then comes Flowey with "held my tounge" for his perspectives on most of the neutral routes" then "Fear is the heart of love" and "So I never went back" are one line apart, representing the player picking one of the extremes to follow, with "In the blackest of rooms" following a king Papyrus run through everyone else's pov, so the end and the furthest from the player.

Now "fear" "and Never" intersect in lyrics. They split the chorus through them. The first part of the chorus stops in the fight with Flowey, to where it goes back to the beginning of the song. New beginnings. And allows me to do a neat thing with the chapter titiles.

"Then I'll follow" was the first variant end for "Fear is the heart of love" (erase) and "I'll follow" is the first varient ending of soulless for "So I never went back" (places to be)

"You" was "do not" and "soulless stay" both endings that NaraChara was a lot less happy at the outcome of, compared to the previous.

"Into the dark" in Fear, features Narachara upset, and preparing to make an offer one should refuse, and in "Never" it features a souless reset (again) with Narachara expressing that they are tired of the indecision.

So while being a part of the song, that is a verse and not chorus, it also ties neatly in with the titles used in the genocide routes.

Like an al coda in music. Up to the player if its a D.S or D.C I think

I’ve listened to the whole thing a few times but I can’t quite get a grasp on the plot, and google isn’t helping haha. can you please give a summary, maybe song by song or something? only if you want to tho!! feel free to ignore this no worries! I just thought I’d ask you cause you’re the chess mutual TM :]

YES YES YES IM THE CHESS MUTUAL >:D asking me about chess makes me POWERFUL!! you’re not bothering me at ALL. the plot varies from production to production, thank you for specifying which one you’re listening to! i’ll give a song by song summary as best i can but know that i have the reading comprehension of a slice of cheese

i’ll be referring to the main characters as “the russian” and “the american” bc thats what the original album does ^_^

merano — opening number, not super plot relevant. the citizens of merano, italy are all happy that their town is the setting of the chess championship. in the middle of the song the american chess champion shows up and sings about what a good chess player he is.

the russian and molokov — introduces, well, the russian challenger, and his second, molokov. this is just a little conversation between them about the american. it makes more sense if you listen to “press conference”, which is a bonus track on the original album, where the american throws a fit and assaults a reporter. but basically molokov is like “see? this dude is fucked” and the russian is like Doubt, and it turns into a conversation about the championship as a whole: molokov views it as a way for the soviet union to assert its dominance over the usa, and the russian is like dude i’m a chess player not a politician

where i want to be — the russian’s first solo number. he reflects on his life in general and how he’s technically gotten everything he ever wanted, but it’s all empty victories. he’s fully aware of his status as a pawn to the ussr.

opening ceremony — a lot happens in this one, and it’s split up into separate tracks in most albums. “the arbiter” introduces the arbiter who’ll be presiding over the matches and ruling the chessboard with an iron fist. “difficult and dangerous times” is a song that i think perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the whole musical: it’s just a game, sure, but neither country wants to be the one that couldn’t even win a game. “the merchandisers” doesn’t move the plot at all but it serves as a little jab at capitalism i guess? basically its just a bunch of people trying to make money off the game. “hymn to chess” is just a little hymn to chess, i guess. sort of like how they always sing the national anthem before a sporting match?

quartet (a model of decorum and tranquility) — between the last song and this one, the first match started, but it never finished, because the american flipped the board and stormed out. this song shows the russian, molokov, the arbiter, and the american’s second florence bickering about what the hell just happened. also the russian calls the american a fruit which isn’t super important but like

the american and florence — florence confronts the american about his behavior. in an incredibly dickish move if i may say, the american turns the conversation to florence’s dead father: “well the ussr killed your dad, didnt they? and i’m against the ussr in this chess match. so by opposing me youre really betraying your dead dad.”

nobody’s side — florence’s first solo number. she reflects on her relationship with the american (which is strictly professional in some productions and explicitly romantic in others; it varies) and how she can’t justify the way he treats her. she comes to the conclusion that she can’t trust him or really anyone; she’s looking out for florence first and foremost.

chess — instrumental :) this tune comes up whenever a chess game is played. over the span of this instrumental break the russian gains a lead of five games to one, which is bad news for the american because the first man to six wins claims the championship.

mountain duet — florence arranges a meeting between herself and both the players, but the american is running late. alone with just the russian, the two of them realize and accept that they have feelings for each other. in a scene that doesn’t appear in this album, the american finally shows up and is naturally very pissed

florence quits — exactly what it says on the tin; florence quits working for the american. the american is obviously mad about this, and is sexist at her for two minutes and 56 seconds

embassy lament — the american has resigned, making the russian world champion. he immediately defects from the ussr to england, with florence. this song is just the consul officers at the embassy being difficult little shits

anthem — the russian explains how “his land’s only borders lie around his heart” and even as he leaves the soviet union he’s still very proudly russian. this ends the first act.

bangkok / one night in bangkok — one year has passed. the next championship is to be held in bangkok, thailand. the american may not be in the game anymore, but he’s employed by global television to report on the championship. this song isn’t super plot relevant but lord if it isn’t catchy.. basically he just shows up in bangkok and rejects all the exciting nightlife in favor of chess. (some productions play the lyrics as sarcasm, with the american enthusiastically having sex with random people and doing coke n shit while claiming his every move’s among the purest)

heaven help my heart — florence reflects on her relationship wifh the russian. she’s afraid of what’s going to happen once the infatuation ends and she’s not something new and exciting for him to play with.

argument — oh, did i mention the russian left a wife in the ussr? cause he left a wife in the ussr. molokov is bringing her out to bangkok. florence is very distressed about all this and the russian is like “the soviet union has played me like a fiddle all my life this is obviously just a trick to mess with me. no biggie. stop worrying. shut up”

i know him so well — a duet between florence and the russian’s wife. the two of them sing about both of their failed relationships with the russian, and how now they know him well enough to know both their relationships were doomed from the start.

the deal (no deal) — molokov wants the russian to throw the match to prove a point about the challenger, a loyal soviet, being a better player than the defecting traitor. so he dangles florence’s father in front of him and says he was alive the whole time in prison, lose the game and i’ll let him out! but he doesn’t say this to him directly, he has the american deliver the message to both the russian and to florence. (in later productions molokov’s character is split into both him and an american, walter de courcey, who’s the one to push the american into this. i think it makes more sense that way, personally.)

pity the child — the american looks at his childhood, and how much of his assholery is due to mommy issues. he finally gets some depth to his character after being a hate sink for an act and a half

endgame — it’s the final match between the russian and the soviet challenger. it’s unclear how much of this song is actually happening and how much of it just represents what’s going on in the russian’s head. but ultimately, he decides that he’s not going to be a pawn to the ussr anymore, so he’s going to win the game. screw florence, screw his wife, he’s doing what he wants.

epilogue: you and i / the story of chess — the russian and florence look back on their relationship. did florence get reunited with her father or was molokov lying, you ask? the concept album leaves it ambiguous. oh yeah and then it ends with an ahistorical tale about the invention of chess

HOW FOOD IS RULING MY LIFE.

SPOILER ALERT!!! SUPER FOOD SPOTS AROUND THE WORLD IF YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO READ MORE THAN 3 SENTENCES. Or you can jump right away to the cool tips but that would make me sad. Not that you care, of course.

Food is part of every human being’s life. But is it that big of a deal for everyone as it is for me? I don’t know if I would call myself a “foodie” but I sure have a passionate relationship with food. When I’m hungry, my brain does not function very well. I can’t think clearly, I’m not efficient but most of all, I’m in such a bad mood. Until I eat, I can’t be asked anything. My attitude tends to frighten those around me. I’m just kidding (not that much). I have no control over my tummy! My brain is not in charge here, hence the article’s title. I don’t know if some of you can relate. I hope so…

The same applies in the morning. Until I have had my cup of coffee and had enjoyed my favorite meal of the day: breakfast; I’m not here for anyone.

As Kitty Forman would say: “Honey, this is breakfast. Don’t ask me things.” 

Speaking of which, brekkie is truly different in every country but I like them all, I mean, for those I’ve tried. By the way, the guy who invented the “all day breakfast” thing is my hero. Those places are heaven on earth. I’ve got some favorite spots around the world that I’m going to share with you. First of all, Bakers & Roasters in Amsterdam, let me tell you their pancakes with bacon and bananas are to die for and so is their coffee. Then, if you are in L.A., be sure to stop by Blu Jam Café. Your mouth will thank you for their crunchy French toast. Morning Glory’s Soufflé Pancakes in San Diego is also worth a try. The pink atmosphere, the food and the cocktails will bring joy to your Saturday Brunch outing. And finally, I like to go to IHOP. Yes, I do. Their pancakes and burgers won’t disappoint you. It’s the kind of place you find pretty much everywhere on the road and it fulfills my American road trips fantasies, Road 66, diner style and whatnot.

I kind of plan my vacations around food spots. I don’t “kind” of do it, actually. I do it compulsively. My itineraries are based on breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. I love to try everything local as long as it is not too weird. I do have my limits.

Food is culturally interesting. You can learn a lot by breaking bread with locals. For example, in the south of France, from my experience, you will start with some salad. Main course will always be accompanied by some fresh “baguette” and there will always be a cheese board and some wine to finish up your meal.

When someone invites you over in Italy, be sure to free up your afternoon because you might spend a few hours at his or her table. Italians always cook the most delicious feast! Fresh homemade pasta will certainly be on the menu.

My darling Australian friends, I often think of you. Cheese and crackers fill your appetizer’s table. Your Sunday roast with gravy and tender vegetables reminds me of a fall day when I curl up on the couch watching a movie with my beloved. You also have weird food habits. First Vegemite and then vegemite pizza? Really? What the hell Ossie people?

Wandering the streets in Bangkok and eating off the sidewalk is an authentic and very suspenseful adventure. Thai Street food is like a box of chocolates you never know what you’re gonna get nor if your stomach will get through it.

If I had to rank my favorite food in the world this would be my top 6:

The Elusive Miss Trinket: Chapter 11

Crossing the living room out into the porch, the sudden gloom that encased the room was the first thing Haymitch noticed. He saw the tail end of her braid swished out sight from the corner of his eyes and he followed her in that direction.

 Katniss was loading her belongings on to the back of Peeta’s truck. Her mouth was set in a line, her face grim. Sensing his presence, Prim glanced once behind her shoulder at him, her features sad and crestfallen. At the look Katniss shot her, she climbed into the passenger seat without a word to him.

 “Katniss,” he pleaded, almost helplessly. “Don’t do this.”

 It fell on deaf ears. Peeta turned the key and the engine rumbled into life.

 “Peeta,” Haymitch called out.

 “I’m sorry,” he dropped his head in regret and drove off, leaving Haymitch standing and staring until the truck disappeared from view.

 When he eventually entered his house some time later, the gloom gave way to horror. It was filled with the faces of forty-six children whose death he blamed himself for. He stumbled back in surprise and clutched the door for support. This was the reason the kids left because if it was up to him, he would not want to stay in a house filled with ghost.

 An ominous whisper broke over the collective, unintelligible murmur in the room. “You could have saved us. You could have stopped it.”

 “I can’t,” he choked out a strangled admission.

 They surged forward towards him, their hands outstretched as if to strangle the life out of him and that was when Haymitch woke up with a start.

 The sheet was tangled around his feet. A trail of perspiration was running down his chest despite the cooling draft from the air-conditioner. Haymitch felt under the pillow for the knife and he held it in the palm of his hand, finding the weight of it familiar and reassuring.

 His nightmares often started and ended the same way; with the three kids leaving him and him finding himself trapped with ghosts of his past.

 His breathing was still heavy and ragged when he swung his legs over the edge of the bed. Haymitch screwed his eyes shut and pinched the bridge of his nose. His past often clawed back at him unexpectedly and often at stressful triggers which he tried to avoid by drowning himself at the bottom of a bottle.

 The years before were as vivid as if it was only yesterday. He had been on a mission and was gathering intel for the agency when it all went wrong. The information given to his superior officers led to an operation that caused the death of civilians and among those were forty-six children. It was the children that haunted him most.

 The tragedy then triggered a massive investigation which was only concluded last year and the report… Well, it would be made public soon.

 There were long late nights talk with Chaff about this and somewhere along the line they both felt that they deserved it. He would have accepted it even except now, things were different. Now, there was Katniss, Peeta and Prim and he couldn’t stand to bear their disgust and judgment once the truth came to light. He wanted to matter to them and he wanted to be a part of their lives.

 Making his way to the bathroom, Haymitch washed his face with cold water. He stared at the mirror, thinking of ways to salvage the situation with Effie because that was the only way he could save himself with the three kids.

 Once he was dressed, he checked his phone to see if there were any messages from Stefan Trinket about his daughter. Since she left, she could have contacted her father to give him a piece of her mind for all he knew but since there were no messages from the old man, he assumed that Effie had kept it to herself.

 He decided to give her a few days to allow her time to cool down, logically deducing that she might not even want to meet him.

 Even so, he did keep his eyes on her whereabouts through the tracker. She spent her days at the boutique and some nights at Clarke Quay where he knew there was an abundant of nightlife activities to indulge in at the various bars, clubs and restaurants. On the fifth day, her tracker went off the radar.

 It spurred him into action and he went down to her boutique.

 “Miss Trinket is at Bangkok. She’ll be back in two days. Shall I book an appointment for you?”

 That would explain it. The tracker went out of range.

 “Vacation?” he asked.

 “She’s on a business meeting with a supplier. Now, about that appointment – “

 He left without a word and two days later, her tracker went back online as she landed at Changi Airport. He breathed a sigh of relief.

 A week was more than enough so that very night Haymitch took a taxi down to Little India. He alighted and glanced around. This place did not suit Effie Trinket’s personality or places of interest and yet, her tracker was pulsing at this very spot on his GPS.

 “Oh, for heaven’s sake,” she exclaimed when she caught sight of him approaching. “I thought you left!”

 “Hello, sweetheart,” he greeted amicably. “Long time no see.”

 "I would prefer to keep it that way."

 Haymitch chuckled. She was feisty and he definitely was not expecting this to go smoothly without a fight on her part.

 "Where are you headed? I don't mind joining."

 She huffed in disbelief at his audacity.

 “I have had a long day so I am heading home to sleep and rest. You are certainly not invited.”

 “You’ll be surprised in what I'm interested in,” he countered, still maintaining a smile on his face. “Tell me about this long day you had...”

 "I do not think for a second that you are truly interested in my day," she narrowed her eyes suspiciously at him.

 "Just wanted to keep the conversation going," Haymitch answered. He ducked in time just as a pigeon took flight, narrowly missing his head. "Where were you from?"

 "I had an event, a wedding dinner."

 “Did you go on your own? No plus one? You know, if you ever need company...."

 "No, thank you. I assure you I am not in the habit of associating myself with a liar."

 His lips quirked in a smirk and with a slight shake of his head, he said, "I'm not a liar, sweetheart. I just had a job to do. It's out in the open now so why don't you give me a chance to do my job and persuade you that going home might be a good idea?"

 "You will learn that I am not so easily convinced," Effie retorted.

 "And you'll learn that I like a challenge."

 There was something about the annoyed look she threw his way that made him chuckle quietly to himself. They walked next to each other quietly, neither engaging in a conversation. Haymitch took his time watching his surrounding and the people in the area. He took photos of the streets and the sceneries to send it to the group chat that Peeta had created for them. He received a reply almost immediately from Prim with a photo of Lady, the goat - "my view". With a fond smile at Prim's antic, Haymitch pocketed his phone only to see Effie watching him.

 “Explain to me what a private investigator is doing out here, stalking a woman who is not involve in any extra marital affairs or company fraud?” Effie did not break her stride as she talked. “Somehow, persuading me to return home does not seem to be the job of an investigator, is it?”

 “No, it’s not,” he agreed, “but it’s the job of an investigator to investigate and track their mark down.”

 Effie scoffed. “I have been reduced to just a mark.”

 At the main road, he could hear the vehicles passing by but the small road they were walking at was quiet and empty at this time of the night.

 “I haven’t investigated anything in a while. Chaff founded the firm after we left our… organisation,” he explained. “We used to split the job equally – fraud and marital affairs. I wanted to help and proving someone’s spouse cheated on them doesn’t seem like helping to me. Sure, the pay’s good but…” he shrugged. “Chaff went on to do that on his own while our firm was still operating but I started takin’ my own cases. Missing people, mostly.”

 “You said while your firm was operating,” Effie frowned. “Is it not operating now?”

 “It dwindled over the past couple of years. I haven’t had a case in a while either. The last one left a bad taste in my mouth so I just stop. I didn’t want to take your case, sweetheart. Your parents pulled me out of my house and into this.”

 “Nonsense,” she clicked her tongue. “You always have a choice. My parents must have made an offer you couldn’t refuse.”

 “Guess they did.”

“And please,” she turned towards him, “put your drink away. This is a liquor control zone.”

 "What the hell does that mean?"

 Effie pointed to the sign mounted on a pole by the road side. “You are not allowed to drink at any public spaces after 10.30 pm so put that away. You are however still allowed to drink at a licensed premise. Perhaps you would like to take that to a nearest bar?”

 “Nice attempt trying to get rid of me,” he chuckled but the sign was there for him to read. He pocketed his flask.

 She struggled to keep a small smile off her face and Haymitch counted that as a win on his part. With a shake of her head, she continued walking. He fell in step next to her.

 “Why missing people?”

 “Just something ‘bout seeing a family reunited,” he admitted.

 “You are a strange man, Haymitch Abernathy. I never pegged you for the sentimental kind.”

 He shrugged.

 “What happened at your last case?”

 “Uh,” he let out a breath, hesitating.

 She glanced at him. “You are entitled to your secrets. What I said the first time we met is true, isn’t it. You are a very private man.”

  Effie paused to let him refute it but when he did not, she said, “It is late. I really should head home.”

 She hailed a passing taxi.

 “You’re not curious on how I found you here in this city?”

 Effie stilled with one hand on the taxi’s door. For a moment, he entertained the thought that she might change her mind about going home but she surprised him by pulling the door open, sliding into the back seat and then looking over at him.

 “Well, are you coming?”

 Her apartment was spacious enough for two occupants. It was clean and spotless, and boasted modern furnishing. One wall was installed with a floor to ceiling window which overlooked the city. On another, there was a decorative mirror and a display stand below it. The photographs in the frame caught his attention and drew him closer.

 Her parents were notably missing from any of the photos. There was one of her with a little boy he presumed to be her nephew.

 “This guy,” he pointed to the kid, “has a photo of you. You send photos to your nephew, yeah? Your father must have taken it from him cause…,” he showed her the photo from his phone. “That’s the Flyer behind you. There’s also a geotag attached to the photo. That’s how your father knew where you are.”

 “Oh,” she blinked. “How foolish of me…. Is there a way to disable that function?”

 Haymitch nodded and was unprepared when she handed her phone to him. He was not the best at technology but he managed somehow after fumbling with the device and looking up the correct settings.

 When he returned the phone to her, she had a glass of iced tea for him.

 “I miss him terribly,” she admitted. “I used to take him out every Sunday and spoiled him silly. Do you miss yours?”

 His brows knitted together as he took a sip from his drink.

 “You told me about a daughter. You said she wasn’t truly yours….” she tried to jog his memories. “You even showed me a picture of them.”

 “Ah, right. Do I miss them?” he snorted.

 “Tell me about them,” she requested. “You said you helped their family during a job…”

 “Iris Everdeen… That’s their mother. She left home after her husband’s death. Don’t think she actually realised she walked off. She was among the first I found,” Haymitch said. “She’s still here and there – there are good days and bad days - so the kids are often coming and going from my house.”

 “They must think of you as their savior. You must mean a lot to them,” she commented.

 Haymitch had nothing to say to that. There were parts of him that he shielded from them. His drinking was already something he was ashamed of and they had seen plenty of him stumbling around drunk for him to dig up more skeletons from his closet.

 They fell quiet again and the silence was enough cause to make Effie uneasy. She glanced at up him as she reached for the television’s remote. The late night news was on and the low volume filled up the quiet pockets in the house.

 “You’re really interested in the news or you’re hinting that I should leave?” he teased.

 “If I wanted you to leave, I would have made it clear. I just think there are more to your story than what you are telling me so I figured you might need the time to collect your thoughts and leave you to it without me staring at you and giving you pressure.”

 Haymitch watched her. If he were in her shoes, he would have a problem trusting him but the fact that she invited him to her apartment … Perhaps all was not lost.

 “How thoughtful,” he praised her in jest.

��“Naturally,” she sighed delicately. “I wish people are just as thoughtful where I am concern as I was to them.”

 “Alright, sweetheart,” he concurred and placed the glass of iced tea back on the coffee table. “I was an asshole and went on about it the wrong way. I know that.”

 “Hmm.”

 “I’m doing this for Prim,” he voiced out, revealing a part of himself to her.

 “I beg your pardon?”

 Haymitch shifted in his seat.

 “She’s a good kid and pretty damn smart, too. She’s got big plans, that one. Mainly, she wants to help and she thinks bringing back her family’s pharmacy would be one way to achieve that,” he said with an affection he reserved only for them. “And I ain’t gonna deny her that. We live in a small town and there aren’t that many opportunities so your father’s supposed to help get a tutor. Get her started with a solid foundation for later.”

 Effie angled her body towards him, leaving her back to the television.

 “Except he’s playing games with me. She’s supposed to have met this tutor a day or so after I left but your father ain’t doing shit until…until he’s happy that I’ve got some progress with you. Last I spoke to him right after I met you, he told me he was going to arrange it but I don’t know if the kid’s met her tutor or not. I haven’t called. I don’t know what to tell if she asks. She’s really excited about it but… You know, she’s sad for you, too,” he muttered the last part quietly.

 A look of surprise passed through her face. “How so?”

 Haymitch exhaled. “She thinks I’m destroying your happiness by getting you home.”

 “She is a smart child,” Effie remarked. “Oh! I supposed I could talk to my sister or my brother. They can arrange for Prim to get what she needs. My parents are not the only one with influence. If she wants,” her voice took on an excited tone, “Prim can attend the school that my nephew is attending! I do believe they provide dormitories for her should she need it and it is an excellent school, Haymitch. Just imagine the two of them being friends!”

 “You’re still tryin’ to out pay your parents,” he chuckled.

 “Yes, because I am not going home,” she told him in all seriousness. “Is that all the deal you strike with my parents?”

 “There are more,” he said simply.

 She waited and when he didn’t continue, she asked, “Your expenses here…?”

 Effie Trinket was smart, he already knew that. She knew when to push and hold back, and right now, she understood not to press him for more but he would be a fool if he believed that she had let the matter go. She would ask again sooner or later, he would bet his house on that.

 “On your father,” he answered and held the credit card between his fingers.

 “Oh! We should go shopping! He wouldn’t know,” Effie grinned with a little twinkle in her eyes. “What an excellent pay back.”

 Haymitch scrunched his brows together at the unexpected suggestion only for him to roll his eyes when it dawned on him that that was the sort of thing Effie Trinket would do.

Those are rickshaws in Little India! Back in the old days when Singapore was just a developing country, they used it a lot to get around. Nowadays, only tourists use it.

• cutest biker you’ll ever meet w a smile so pure that u start to feel bad for that time you forgot to give a pencil back in 3rd grade that is the youngjae effect© • he lets little kids around the neighborhood  put cute stickers and flowers on his motorcycle and it’s the cutest thing he gets so happy when he sees a new lilly on the handle he actually has a flower chain all over the front and everyone envies him • and no the background sound you just heard wasn’t jackson screaming that little kids won’t come near him as they cling onto yj’s leg nope (that cursed honda...,,) • everyone loves him like this is certified u exist u love youngjae these are the rules but grannies are especially in love w him  • once said a bad word and the whole group panicked and put youngjae into quarantine bc they thought they were losing him to ~the plague~ • he goes to buy them bread every morning and delivers them w his bike and then in the afternoon they race each other yj with his motorcycle and the grannies w their scooters except poor so rin whose husband always goes to afternoon ‘strolls’ w it so he takes her on the back of his bike and ends up losing bc of that like 99% of the time  • sunday night it’s break from fight night bc he goes to play bingo with them and takes the rest of got7 and they are the most excited whenever someone yells bingo even tho it’s not their boy (tip: youngjae has no idea about bingo to this day) •  met the grannies at the dentist as he was getting his teeth whitened and they bonded over weird mumblings and random swallows and trying to communicate while having multiple people’s hands in their mouths at the same time and he just can’t let them go  • now he may look innocent & pure but listen up ok,,,,listen here,,,,,,,,,,he rly is •  except maybe that one time when he bumped into a stranger and didn’t apologize and jesus fucking christ it haunted him for weeks like he would decline when offered lucky charms bc he failed his #code and g o d so he’s not worthy of receiving happiness • he’s supposed to be the one who beats people up but he’s the poodle and the only infernal thing is other gangs’ desire to protect this flower man • wears fluffy socks bc he gets cold feet easily • every time a member is sad said member wakes up with a stuffed bear wearing a leather jacket next to him in bed but “no one” knows who puts them there cause stuffy’s mama didn’t raise a snitch

A group of Buddhist worshippers on a remote hilltop in Thailand believe that aliens communicate with people in the area. Khao Kala in Nakhon Sawan — which translates to "City of Heaven" — is located just three hours north of Bangkok and has become a hotspot for tourists looking to experience the supernatural. The remote area is located on a hill among a sugar cane plantation. Believers say the hill hides a secret wormhole that allows aliens from Pluto and elsewhere to travel between different dimensions. As alien seekers flock to the area, local police are becoming increasingly frustrated. Officers have recently raided the area and expressed concern that the influx of tourism could endanger the protected forests. There is no substantive evidence that the site has supernatural or alien qualities. Alien tourism appears to be gaining popularity around the world, and some offbeat travelers believe that a remote hilltop in Thailand holds the key to connecting with the extraterrestrial world. Several news outlets, including CNN and Vice, have recently traveled to the area, where some people believe humans can telepathically communicate with aliens. Somjit Raepeth, a member of Khao Kala group or UFO Khao Kala, a group that believes that the area possesses supernatural qualities, told the Post in 2015 that members practice strict Buddhist principles and were able to contact aliens from Pluto and another planet called Logu Kata Paka Tigong, located somewhere in the Milky Way. "They have high virtues and morals," she told the Post. "The only way to make contact with them is to practice dhamma (Buddhist teachings) to the highest levels." According to CNN, followers of the ideology believe that people can hear the aliens through meditation, and have described the aliens as "slender, little, silvery humanoids." Some followers have reported seeing UFOs and silhouettes of figures on the hilltop, while others say they were actually spun around by alien powers.
